Merry Maids Portland has helped me on multiple occasions. Most recently, I asked them to clean one of my two Portland condo units on relatively short notice. Although they were booked for the week, they arranged to have someone come on Saturday to meet my time requirements. In fact, each time I have worked with them, I have been impressed with the responsive, courteous and professional interactions I have had with Merry Maids team members. I feel comfortable giving Merry Maids access to my condos and always am confident that I will return to find everything clean and even smelling great. I highly recommend Merry Maids and will continue to rely on them for years to come.

We were looking for a bi-weekly cleaning service and gave this company a try. They charged us $480 for deep cleaning and we were bit confused b/c it's a brand new constructed home and barely lived in. They insisted that it still needed a deep cleaning and we were a bit shocked with the reuslts. The deep cleaning was about 2 hours and afterwards, we found dust on the kitchen counters and headboards. We also found lots of fingerprints on the glass windows and hairs on the bathroom floors. Their QC manager, ackowledged the issue when we brought it up and she went back to address it. My constructive feedback, the initial deep cleaning fee should be called an "initiation fee" as I recognize every cleaning company is busy or struggling to find more employees during the pandemic. I think calling it a "deep cleaning" is misleading. The subsequent two cleanings were about 1 hour long and the cleaners basically went through the house to wipe down the counters, bathrooms and vacuum. We were charged $195 and $225 respectively for 1 hour of wiping things down. I agree with other reviewers, the cleaning process is efficient and if you want everything wiped down within an hour, then this would define their service. However, for these prices, we expected a little more elbow grease in cleaning the tubs, getting under the rugs, and attention to detail. The QC manager agreed with our assessment and informed us they could no longer proceed with cleaning our home. I would give the QC manager four stars as she seemed genuinely concerned in addressng the issue and for this we wanted to develop a long term working relationship with this company. A lot of companies are struggling to find employees, we get that and wanted to find some middle ground. We were willing to pay these prices and refer the company to our neighbors.

I have to admit this was the first time I have had my house cleaned so not a lot to compare it to, but it was soooo fabulous to come home to a clean house. A couple of things that felt above and beyond to me were she put my children's comforters back in the duvets (a dreaded job) and picked up the whole basement playroom which was a complete mess. I didn't think she would even go down there. Very happy!

I hired Merry Maids to clean my house a few days ago and the staff was extremely unprofessional and rude to both me and my roommate. I brought up the satisfaction guarantee which clearly states that there is no fine print, but the manager came back at me with fine print. Lousy Engaged Merry Maids for my cleaning service, but was hugely disappointed. First requested a “deep clean” (which they also require for the first visit). $300 later, there was an amazingly long list of things that hadn’t been done. Not a picture frame dusted, not a baseboard cleaned, tops of shelves left untouched, not a window sill wiped...I could go on. I contacted the owner with a list of most items that were not done. He said he would “put his Quality Control person on the case”. Three days later, two management women arrived—and said they were “mortified” by what they saw, literally using the words “mortified” and “embarrassed”. It took them around 2 hours to do a proper deep clean. They completely agreed with my belief that it should all have been done as part of a deep cleaning. At that point, I was comfortable that they had “made good” on their service. My husband and I did ask that they not send the original team back, the two people that had done such a lousy job the first time around. They said they were not sure they could promise that because of their current level of staffing shortage; understanding that, we asked only that if the original team would be returning, they should please be spoken to by management so as to ensure that there would be no repeat of the original horror show. I thought all was well, and scheduled a next appointment, for a “regular” cleaning, two weeks later. But that never happened, because just a few days later I received an email from the business owner (Dan Burgess), “firing” me as a customer, because he had decided that I was “not a good fit”. He also reminded me that I was not charged for the “second cleaning”, apparently to emphasize that I had been very well treated, and that I should actually be grateful that he had fixed the problem “for free” [after we had already been charged $300]. All in all, my experience with Merry Maids was incredibly unprofessional—the way the work got done and the way that I as a customer was “handled”. I have moved on to another company which seems happy to work with me. My advice to everyone is to look elsewhere for a cleaning service, unless you are comfortable paying top dollar for lousy service and lousy personal treatment.

The maids are personable. They general follow through with our comments but they also don't contine with our instructions at future cleaning sessions. For example: 1). From the first day we asked that they clean the inside of window sills from the inside. They did it one week but not since. Consequently the inside window sill is in very dirty condition. 2) we don't particularly like the cleaning products. We like a clean smell. Not there! 3) in the bathroom, the sink behind the faucet shows unclean. Apparently, they do not scrub back there behind the faucets. Also, the tiles appear to be wiped down but does not feel very soft. We think it has to do with the cleaning products used. 4). Overall the cleaning is not in depth. Although there are signs of cleaning, the details on baseboards, corners, floor near walls don't look clean as an example do not give a clear idea that cleaning has occurred. 5). If you look under sofas, chairs, under beds remain untouched and dusty. They don't lightly move chairs sofas tables to clean. Vacuuming is surfaces readily seen only. 6). The handrail (banister) going upstairs has never been washed clean. 7). Dusting does not appear consistently done. For example, Our bathroom glass wall shelves are not sparkling, the mirrors are not well cleaned. 8). We are told that the maids do not dust pictures or move things off the tables and bureaus etc., because of your practices. We often have to follow up with our own cleaning. We have also used. "Pledge" on tables and chairs because the sheen on the wood. We also like the smell of cleanliness. 9) They don't do windows, so they say, unless scheduled in advance. What about windows what is the story. We are hesitant to have you clean windows inside out plus clean the screens because our overall confidence of the cleaning is not particularly positive. We need to have windows washed and cleaned at least when they are so dirty as they are now. At least every other month throughout the house up and down. We have for years cleaned our own house. We are very particular and would have expected that with anyone cleaning our house. We not like the look of cleanliness as well as the small (odor). My daughter asks often what we like about the maids. So far we have said "It's OK". Not like when we did the cleaning. We hope this will help assessing our needs.

I switched from another cleaning company about a year ago. I could not be happier with superior quality of Merry Maids cleaning team. It is often the same crew which is great for my dog - he loves to "help" as the crew goes from room to room. :) Everyone is exceptionally friendly, too. I love that I get a text that team is headed to my house so I'm not caught unawares. And they are very consistent with the time they arrive - so great when you have kids, pets, and errands to manage. Terrible job. Had them clean an apartment to prepare for new tenant. Stove was left filthy, covered with grease and burned on crud. Stains on side of stove. Cobwebs in corners. Filth in window tracks. Refrigerator has stains dripping down sides. Neither stove nor fridge moved to clean behind or under. When we complained to supervisor, we we told that the maids don't move "furniture". We were also told that they don't use bleach because it's "too harsh". Apparently they don't use elbow grease either. The supervisor told us that they would send the crew back for an additional charge. Absolute rip-off. If this is how they clean, then their own houses must be disgusting.

Getting to the point they took my deposit because I did not give them a weeks notice.
