I recently acquired an under socialized German Shepherd puppy that they spent extra time and personnel with to help her get along with other dogs. Great place and amazing staff! We are from out of town and dropped our dogs off for care during the afternoon. We felt very comfortable leaving them and they had such a great time. Our 3 year old mini Labradoodle hasn’t had much kennel experience before, then stayed at the Playpen for one week. They listened to our concerns about her being used to much one-on-one contact, and made sure that she received the same there during her stay. They are very professional and yet friendly, and show genuine concern for the pets in their care. I highly recommend this kennel!!

The Playpen staff members are so caring and professional. You can certainly tell as soon as you walk in the door that they really love animals. Everytime I've taken my dog, Luna, there the staff has always gone above and beyond to keep her happy while we are away. She loves staying there and it's never an issue to add on services (such a nail trims) while she's there. When we pick her up she's always been well looked after and spoiled (in a good way.)The staff are courteous, pleasant, and knowledgeable and I couldn't recommend them enough to other dog owners in Cranbrook.

We love the Playpen! They made sure our puppy was slowly introduced to other dogs so that she was comfortable. She quickly bonded with the owner and staff. In addition to boarding, the daycare is a great way to socialize your pup in a safe setting where you can rest assured your pet will have fun and be well cared for.

Amazing place to take your dogs. I cant speak highly enough about how great this place is for doggy daycare and overnight boarding. James and his staff (I've dealt with Meagan mostly) are caring and structured with our dogs. Our dogs love it there and I know they're well taken care of.

It's unfortunate that there are such limited options for boarding and daycare in Cranbrook. Will not take my dogs back here ever again due to poor management and customer service. The owner seems to have limited knowledge on basic customer service skills and instantly jumps to conclusions (saying I'm obviously a fake customer) instead of addressing my concerns in a professional manner.

We had a great experience dealing with James and all the staff at the Playpen Pet kennels in Cranbrook. Our 2 small dogs stayed with them while we golfed for 4 consecutive days. A couple of those days were going to be early drop offs as we had early tee times. James was especially accommodating making himself available for the early intake. They have a small dog room away from the big dogs where they get cuddles and access to an outdoor area. Our dogs seemed to have had no issues there and seemed happy upon pick up. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely take our dogs there again when in the Cranbrook area.

Brought my three miniature Dachshunds to the Playpen for a dental clean after stopping by a previous time to chat with owners about the procedure and book them in together. It was my dogs's very first dental clean, so I was a bit apprehensive about how things may go. Owner and staffs were very welcoming, explicit about the procedure, my fur babies were introduced to the place and quickly set at ease while interaction with other dogs was supervised by knowledgeable staff. I received an email at home about dental status/procedure including photos after each dog was done, it was a really good way to see the progress and results. Very very pleased with the whole experience, dogs were happy and playing when I came back to get them, in fact they were ready to stay longer and play more! I would go back without hesitation and will most likely use other of the services provided by The Playpen. Professional, friendly, knowledgeable staffs, reasonable rates.

My dog Tobe and I both love the Playpen. We have done day care, over night stays and long weekend stays. When I drop Tobe off he just runs through the door like he owns the place, so excited to see the other dogs and staff. I tell the staff every time I leave that Tobe cries in the car on the way home because he loves it up there. Staff and management really go above and beyond, you can tell that they are all truly animal lovers. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I love that I can check their Facebook page or Instagram to see if my dog made the photos or videos of that day.

This is unlike the "average" kennel. Love this place, and the staff is awesome! Our senior (16-year plus) Sophie has been a long-time guest at the Playpen. We had to kennel her over the Thanksgiving weekend, and were a bit more concerned due to her age etc. We chose to have her stay in their new Penthouse one-on-one suite this time. Wow! Their care and attention to her was easily evident when I picked her up, as there was absolutely no stress seen and her personality was so relaxed and calm, like we never even left her. Thank you so much for all that you do.....you're so appreciated and valued by many.

I booked a boarding and a grooming appt at the same time over the phone. I was told I was all set with my booking. A week later I show up for my grooming appt to be told I didn’t have one. I explained I made both appointments at the same time. She checked the computer and found my boarding but no grooming. Obviously the girl I talked to forgot to enter my grooming into the computer. Instead of admitting a mistake on their end, they gave me a bad attitude and acted like I was out to lunch for showing up without an appt. There was no effort to fix the situation by accepting responsibility and offering to re book. I left and sent an email complaint about the lack of customer service. When the girl called me to address my complaint, she still insisted that I would have received an email if I had an appt. she could not admit that I would have had an appt if she entered it into the system. In return, the owners replied to my fb comment about improving on customer service by saying that I was refusing to take their calls to fix the situation. When checking caller ID I did not see anything from them and told them that. When I did talk to James he proceeded to tell me that the staff described what happened differently than I did. So I must be lying. I told him that it is not my responsibility to make sure his staff enters my appt into the computer, and he said that yes it partly is! What a joke! After I refused to listen to his nonsense and was getting upset, he told me not to bother bringing my dogs for their boarding next week. So I said fine! We will NEVER do business with the playpen EVER again! I do not recommend them. My situation could have easily been avoided with a friendly attitude and acknowledging the staff error instead of trying to blame me!

My wife booked a grooming for both our dogs. Showed up on time only to have them tell us they didn’t have an appointment in the their system. We booked this appointment a week prior. Most likely they didn’t finalize the appointment on their end as we did book a kennel stay at the same time for a different date that is in the system. We asked if they could just accommodate us but we’re told no. Very very poor service in my opinion. The person at the counter made it seem like she felt this was our fault and would not accept responsibility.

Why does the owner keep responding negative reviews are fake? Why would anyone spend the time reporting a fake review? People don't always use their real names online for privacy reasons. It just seems scapegoating to say their all fake. 4-5 fake people with fake negative reviews? Why? That makes me more skeptical than the fake review.

We have used the grooming room once for our elderly golden retriever, where he was dealt with care and understanding that he was an old dog and he came out looking 'spiffy'! We have just enrolled for the play area as we have a 6 month old springer spaniel and because we live in the country he doesn't meet any other dogs. So we felt he needed socialization, because it is very important at this age for him to get use to other dogs and be well behaved around them. Freddie has been twice and each time he was very happy. Also to be able to drop them off at any time, within their working hours is terrific, in case of emergencies at home and you need to place your dog in a safe and friendly enviroment.

Our pups just spent five days there, The staff is super friendly when we picked up our dogs. But sadly, when we dropped our dogs off the girl seemed kind of annoyed we were asking a lot of questions. But other than that we definitely take our dogs there again if we need!! They seemed really happy when we pick them up! Have heard a lot of great things about this place so this is why we picked the playpen! ????????????????

Staff are very nice and the place is well organized. My dog loves to go here, he starts to wine and bark even before he gets in the building because he just wants to get in and see everyone and all the dogs! Many thanks to everyone that works there. Upon our arrival to the office for daycare check in, we were greeted warmly and professionally. The front office gentleman answered all of my questions and was super friendly with myself and our puppy. He assured me that a great day was to be had while our dog was in their care - We just picked our 8mos old puppy up from day care and he’s already sleeping! I think it’s safe to say that he had a great day! We will definitely be back!

I brought my dog in for a groom not that long ago. I was told the groomer had several years experience and has been in the industry for years. This did not seem to be the case. My dog face was beyond uneven. She had long tufts left all over her body. Only 2 of her paws had nails trimmed down on them. There was dirt stuck still in her tail. I am not impressed with the groomer at all. I wouldnt suggest them. They also were not following any covid regulations
