They don't respond to online service requests. Generally takes three days to do a service - one to call it in and get registered in their queue; one to get a scheduled call (usually the next day not the day of call so if it is a furnace or AC repair you have to sweat or freeze for at least a full 24 hours before the service person appears; one to get the part needed (if you are lucky) and if you are very lucky, get fix done same day as part is available otherwise add another day. In winter you can ask for heaters to help with the cold but don't hold your breathe for them to arrive. In my case they were delivered into a snowbank.

Edit 12/21/2020: Enercare in their response provides the president's email address, however I already emailed that address the same time I posted this review. So clearly they respond to these reviews more often then they bother to answer those emails. So time will tell if that email is just use that email on these reviews just for show. I will update you if Enercare replies to that email. If this review is not updated again, that means they don't care and that presidents email is a just a for show for replying to bad reviews. Original review 12/17/2020: I bought a unit from Enercare and I am trying to pay my bill and I can't get anyone to tell me how to pay it. I was transferred and referred to a number that goes to voicemail during business hours. I received an email that says it has an attachment with no attachment and I'm getting no replies on that thread now. I was told I would be called back twice and have received no calls. The only thing the email said was that I would be accumulating interest daily until it's paid? What kind of BS scam are you running here where you don't tell me how to pay my equipment loan and keep charging me interest.... I better not pay a cent of interest and you better make this right.... I have never had so much trouble trying to square up a bill...

Revised review from January 03, 2019: I have reviewed rating and my post about Enercare, because they changed their mind (within 10 days) and attitude how to rectify complaint. Edmund, technician came as scheduled and addressed an issue. Big thanks to Satyaki Sen, Manager, Customer service and all other insiders and parties involved with addressing this issue which resulted in preferred outcome. I think it would be valuable case that may lead Enercare to update its policy providing a clause that a customer with good standing may get complimentary flushing service once or twice in lifetime of installed water heater. It will just solidify position of business as reputable & customer oriented company in the eyes of customers. Initial review from December 13, 2018: Worst service EVER! Rusty water comes from 9 year old rented Water Heater. Service technician who came Muhammed Malik wants to charge $95 for flushing rusty water from Enercare installed water tank. He concluded that rusty water caused by age of water heater - 9 years as of Dec 2018. But Enercare policy is to keep it until it gets 14 years old. So what? Another 5 years to pay and continue to have guaranteed rusty water even in bigger quantity? Even his supervisor from Brantford Call center also under name Muhammed with employee ID PRBMBAJW was trying to convince me in phone call ref #28971127 that customer has to pay for flushing unhealthy rusty water generated by 9 year old water heater from Enecare that posing risk to client. When I accessed initially Enercare call center I was told the issue would be addressed for free because it is a part of contract. So what free service included ? Service that is not fair.

We are very happy with the services we received this past week. Our thermostat, furnace and a/c were replaced and the a/c unit was actually moved to a different side of the house (and they guys had no problem doing that for us). They were clean, efficient, detailed, and got the job done in one day. They were respectful and explained things as they were going, and at the end once things were installed. David and Mike came to install our hot water heater exchange from Enercare. They were friendly, professional and efficient. They adhered to Covid protocols so we felt safe. They laid floor protectors and were very polite and tidy. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a new hot water heater. The call in portion and customer service call to book the hot water heater exchange was unsatisfactory. It was extremely difficult to understand the customer service representatives even though they could speak English. I listened and asked for them to repeat the same sentence over and over and still was not able to understand either rep. In fact, I'm not even sure what I agreed to but I couldn't understand them.

Technition was kind polite and very respectful. He even went over what he completed and not only was able to sell me a filter ,which is amazing as my disability and not being sure what size or how to install it properly all have stopped me from getting a new one in 3seperate attempts over the last month. He was so helpful showing me the correct way to install it and wrote the size down for me so I will not have any more difficulty getting a new one in the future.I appreciated how he took a few moments to explain the best month to book my a/c units pre season inspection.He was so knowledgable he was able to answer every question I asked.I was not only impressed that he offered to vacuumed out my furnace of any possible buildup of dust inside the furnace after my explaining these co-op homes have unusually high distances levels and I was further worried that after my own vaccine stopped working that the area around my furnace could have a build up around it as I forgot about his visit so did not get yo even sleep the day or two before a technition arrived. He was gracious but more impressively after he left I notice he had even vacuumed around the outside of my furnace.Please pass on my appreciation for the kindness,attention to details and highly qualified administrations of clearly highly skilled care of my furnace.As a person with disabilities I was able to avoid the usual nervousness I feel dealing with a stranger in my home. Your technition had such high levels of skill openness to accommodate questions and the high level of respect he treated me and my questions put me at a much higher level of trust and calmness I do not usually get to enjoy.He was very professional calling ahead for example to ensure a pleasant expieriance. So for all these reasons I would be happy to recommend and have pointed out to several of my neighbors why they also should look into the many perks and reassurances they likewise could enjoy if they purchased the same protective program I have with you.I pointed out how reassuring it is to know my family is safer and I am assured the lowest costs possible as my furnace is maintained at optimal running conditions via your program, as will my central a/c unit in the summer each year. They all liked how even with my tight budget having the ability to have the cost broke down to such a reasonable cost included on my heating bill makes this prudent program accessible for virtualy any budget.The peace of mind is priceless.Thankyou.

I had an appt for maintenance about 3 weeks ago and my tech's name was Brandon, I am very pleased with the service I got from him, he went over and beyond, I had been experiencing some issues with the water tap in the backyard, I knew it was leaking but couldn't pin point where the leak was, he found out that the water was actually leaking into the furnace room and took the time to show me where and also offered some suggestions on how to get it repaired. I really appreciate that!

Do not use this company. They are very understaffed due to internal issues and it really comes out in their customer service. Our water tank broke and needed to be replaced, we were told someone would call us that night to confirm an appointment for next day, no one ever called. We finally got an appointment a few days later, confirmed the time and date, took time off work to be home and and they never showed up. When we called they said we never had an appointment and had to wait several days for an appointment. It’s clear they don’t have enough technicians to do the work and don’t care enough to contract out their services or hire more people. Almost a week later and we are still waiting for service and hot water to take a shower in our own home. We have decided to change companies. Do yourself a favour and save the hassle. UPDATE: The entire time during this back and forth with Enercare, we kept asking to speak to a manager and were told there was no manager to speak to. It's unfortunate that now that I have posted a negative review there is upper management to speak to.

Our hot water tank broke in the middle of the night early Sunday morning. We didn’t think anything would be done because it was a Sunday. We decided to call Enercare and we were shocked that someone was able to come the same day to look at it. We ended up needing a new tank and they were able to send a consultant the very same day and by the following day, we had a new hot water tank installed! So glad we decided to call Enercare!

I don’t normally post reviews unless something went wrong. This time is the exception. During my annual furnace maintenance, Stephanie noticed that my 11 year old hot water heater was not venting right (at all). Immediately, she drew my attention to it, and had all the options for replacement ready for me. The furnace cleaning was done well, as always - and I had my new water heater ordered for next day install. They even had incentives that made buying out of the old contract worthwhile. Installation of the water heater... the guys (Eric and Pat were on time, very professional and friendly. The heater was installed beautifully. There was no mess left behind and I have hot water again. Amazing service. I hope not to see them again soon, but would recommend. :)

Then when we wanted to buy it out last year...as we were selling our house....we had to pay $515 FOR AN ALMOST 10 YEAR OLD WATER HEATER!!! We did it just to be done with this company. We have had Al in past years and found him to be friendly and engaging but more importantly he is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. Absolutely no communication, technicians arrived almost 2 hours after the window appointment with no communication and then arrived with the wrong tank. Next day arrived late again and made me lose 2 days of work. the call centre was useless as they refused to find out when or where the technicians were. I never felt this disrespected and useless in my life. This was by far the worst customer service I ever experienced and will be moving away from enercare with all my products as it is less risky to own than to rent. They should be ashamed of themselves but like most monopolies they dont care about customer.

Very poor Enercare customer service and scheduling procedures. When I called, I was told I'd have to wait 3 days for a technician. When a follow-up appt was needed, I was again told to wait another 3 days. In total I waited 5 days in a cool house till the furnace problem was resolved. N.B.This was NOT the fault of the technicians. They were excellent! ... once they got here! Their website promises 'same day service' yet every time when I have called I cant get an appt for 3days ... one time it was 5 days!!!

Never rent a water heater from Enercare. After 7 years of no service (they never did any maintenance in the entire time), my water heater broke down. The technician came out and deemed it commercially un-repairable then tried to get me to sign a new contract on the spot. He confirmed with me that had he made a note that it was deemed commercially un-repairable. I decided to go with another company. When I called to confirm cancellation and get a return number, it took 1.5 hours for them simply to identify my account and then they claimed that I was required to pay out because the technician hadn't noted it was un-repairable. Another hour of jumping through loops and they finally gave me a return number. Extremely unprofessional, fraudulent practices. At no point as a second house owner was I ever presented with a contract.

Chris P. visited our home the same day I called about this issue to assess our house for the new heater; he was professional and friendly and answered all of our questions. He scheduled our installation quickly and without issue. Dan F. and Tom H. arrived on time as scheduled and got the job done quickly! I’ve been trying to have a ductless ac installed since July 30th. By Matt Trudeau, he’s just giving me the run around. I have called many times, left many messages, and he refuses to get back to me. I have to go to the people higher up to get him to contact me then when he does he doesn’t follow through with his words and promises. It’s now sept 19th and still have not had my items installed that I have been told would be done very disappointing and yet every time I call to have him replace they will not allow me to have a different person to do my installation if it ever gets to that point. Plus after all this I do not trust he will complete it properly.

I have Unsuccessfully been trying to schedule my annual maintenance furnace check since the end of August!!! I have called a number of times and I have sent a few email messages. I have been told that there were no available appointments and that someone would be in touch with me to schedule a time once an appointment time became available. I was not contacted personally but rather received a message that I had been booked in (this past week) for a time during the work hours that I was not able to be home for. I am still waiting for an appointment either later in the day or on a weekend. I have Never had such terrible customer service with a company. We are very unhappy with the Enercare company. We have had no heat for 30 hours, the windchill here in southern Ontario, Canada is -12 C. We were told yesterday the service technician could not come to our home until between 2-6 p.m. today! We have been a faithful customer for over 25 years (with Direct Energy, then Reliance and now Enercare) paying into their maintenance plans for our heating & cooling systems. What is the point in having a maintenance contract when you do not "care" for us in a timely manner? It is winter here in Canada and your customer service has failed us.

I have been using those guys for HVAC maintenance and repair for a long time. Never had a problem. It wasn’t until I needed and instal that those guys shined above the rest. I shopped around for a whole new system to put in after my Keep Rite gave out. Mike, from sales, was wonderful, flexible an attentive to detail. He made sure he treated me at my level of knowledge and got me exactly what I wanted and needed. He made sure I always knew what was going on all along. It took an effort on his end to put everything together and do it on time, but he did it. Most of all, I felt comfortable bringing such a pleasant person into my home. The installers, Jeff and Mat, were equally wonderful. Worked quietly as produced a professional install. They overcame all the problems they were face with. They were so apologetic that they had to return the next day to run a new cable. Jeff’s attention to detail and dry sense of humour were very delightful. Mat’s approachable personality was lovely. Michael was my salesman for a new air conditioning unit and he went out if his way on several occasions to answer all of my questions. Before the sale I wanted to ensure that I picked the right company. Professional installation, equipment dependability, warranty, company reliability and cost were all factors in my consideration. Michael worked with me to lower cost and raise confidence in Enercare. He did all of that and more. My installers were Aaron and Dylan. They installed a new water heater (rental) and a new air conditioning unit (purchased). Aaron and Dylan were very professional and meticulous workers. As owner of a renovation company, I know good work when I see it. The water heater and A/C unit were installed fast and efficiently. Care was taken to avoid tracking dirt into the house using a rubber mat through to the work area. Every question I asked was answered to my satisfaction. The job was done cleanly and with careful consideration. Both men were kind and friendly and took the time to ensure everything was working correctly before they left. Michael went out of his way to make me happy and sent the right people to do excellent work. Top notch professionals. I highly recommend. Just a note to add to this review. After the new Sensi thermostat was installed the furnace fan was kicking into high gear at the end of the cycle. This had never happened in the life of my furnace. Simon Brown was the tech who came out to check. He was extremely thorough and used a process of deduction to rule out everything but the thermostat. Next, he changed a setting in the thermostat and resolved the issue. Another shoutout to techs Aaron, Dylan (aka Tyler), and Simon. Also great thanks to salesman Michael for his fast response time in getting this issue resolved. Now I can add that the Enercare team is not only good at installation, but also following up and resolving issues. Looks good on you Enercare!

I had made two unsuccessful service calls appointments, then decided to move forward with a hot water heater tank replacement with another provider. On the day of installation of the new rental unit, I called Enercare to informed them and chose to bring myself the old one. The next day, at the drop off location, I was told that I was supposed to have been given a reference number which wasn't provided and they wouldn't be able to accept it without that. I followed up to call Enercare again for that number and found out that they needed 24hours to complete the drop off. I was beyond disappointed and asked for an exception, without success. Even after I mentioned that I was a disabled person and had to drive back 20 minutes to the next city they wouldn't not empathize. I asked if they could schedule a pick up and waive the $75 fee and they wouldn't comply. This is beyond unacceptable and below any decent customer service that one would expect. Very sad for service, no goodwill what so ever. _____________________________________________________________________ All ended well, with no lack of more drama, but if it wasn't for this feedback, it initiated the involvement of their Social Media Care Specialist-who came to the rescue and was the first one to show any compassion and took care the matter. He should be promoted!!!

Very professional, usually get the job done but recently, the last 2 service calls both said the problem was too big for them. A blower motor and that because Our furnace had a secondary heat exchanger that was plastic, it was probably cracked and it would be best to replace the furnace. We did, (with another company) and guess what, the secondary heat exchanger was METAL and definitely NOT cracked! VERY shady and just flat out lied. AVOID these people.

Do not do business with Enercare! Deplorable business practices and customer service. Our water heater was only 4 years old and it started leaking. Tech came out and stated that we needed a brand new one however wouldn’t get one until the following week. This would leave us many days without hot water. Received an email on replacement date and when we called to inquire if there was an earlier date, they changed our service date to later stating that they “cancelled” our first appointment and now that slot has been booked by someone else! Their contract is filled with hidden information and fees. Our only silver lining was because our hot water tank was broken, our contract was as well so we happily took our business elsewhere.

The experience with the technician was fantastic. He explained everything really well and I felt comfortable about the entire experience. The call center was another matter which left me very frustrated. The person handling the call asked for an appropriate time period and I agreed to a morning 9-1 pm time slot where upon he said that I was confirmed for a 4pm time slot. He made mistakes like that throughout the call and frankly I was pretty sure that my appt wouldn't work out in the end. Luckily the tech showed up in the morning and he completed everything on time and a job well done. I can only hope that phone calls are actually reviewed by management and something is learned by reviewing this call.

Absolutely unacceptable, we returned a water heater, they took it but could not give us a confirmation receipt that it was returned because the "system is down " and has been since Sept 26. I called 1800# and they tell me that it could take 2 to 3 months to correct the billing. I have zero confidence that they are going to track this tank correctly....I think Enercare has taken from lessons from Cogeco is poor management and billing practices! Beware!

Our hot water tank stopped working so we called for assistance. Unfortunately, Enercares customer service sucked. Both myself and my landlord attempted to call them but the customer service over the phone was very rude , long wait time and when we finally did get to speak to someone they overtalked us and eventually hung up on both us. My landlords name is Mouftau , and I , Andrea am one of his tenants. They, your CSR's hung up on both of us and we weren't even rude or swearing or anything of the sort. We had to call back again and again .Finally arrangements were made to send a tech out and that tech was Justin Rempel. Finally we got somewhere!!!!!! This guy was amazing. A great representative for the company. He really takes pride in his work , has alot of patience , and really knows his stuff and goes the distance for you. We were so impressed. If it wasn't for him saving the company's reputation by offering amazing hospitable and knowledgeable customer service with a smile , We never would have dealt with Enercare ever again based on the first 3 reps we spoke to over the phone . Literally, Justin was a godsend we were very grateful for who fixxed our problems in a timely professional manner, going above and beyond . Thanks just isn't enough. Best customer service ever . We called Enercare Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., and by 12:30 p.m. we had an a technician (Rob D.) at our house to assess the issue. He was very helpful, informative and professional. By Sunday at 1:15 p.m. the technicians were in to install a brand new rental tank for us. Your technicians were very friendly, clean and professional. We rented a water heater from Enercare for years, ending in 2017 when we had the tank removed and returned to Enercare. When the tank was returned, Enercare did not provide paperwork to confirm the rental was returned. Subsequent to that, they continued to bill me for almost a year, refusing to stop billing until I had provided the paperwork they refused to provide. We finally ended up buying out the tank, at a cost of almost $700!!! After that, and about 50 hours of phone calls and emails over a full year period, they finally confirmed that they would stop billing me and credit the account for the outstanding balance. I thought my nightmare was over. FOUR YEARS LATER, a collections agency lodged a bad debt on my credit rating, for the exact amount that Enercare had confirmed they would remove from my account. After an additional 10 calls to Enercare, plus 4 calls to the collections agency, the matter *seems* to be resolved. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!! Their internal processes are an absolute disaster, you get passed around on every call, they don't 'read their emails, and they don't care whatsoever about their customers. Buy your water heater - its many times cheaper than renting it over the lifetime of the heater.

At approximately 17:30, Thursday October 22 2020, I was returning to Elmira on highway 85 northbound. At the merge from 2 lanes to 1 lane, an Enercare van decided it would be a good idea to attempt to pass me on the right, at an extremely high rate of speed. I was forced to slam on my brakes, and he was forced to hit the gravel shoulder. I'd like to mention that I was driving a full size school bus. Alex L. did an excellent plumbing diagnostic and repair for an issue I had with a shower faucet with scalding water. His customer service was great - he called in advance to let me know that he was 10 minutes away, discussed the diagnosis and strategy with me, cleaned up after himself, and explained the report before getting me to sign off. If my experience with Alex was the only experience with Enercare, I would have given 5 stars. However, prior to Alex, I had made two other appointments for plumbing services. Neither of these prior technicians called the provided phone number nor rang the doorbell, but only left cards in the mailbox saying “sorry, we missed you”. It was very frustrating having to re-book the appointment three times.

Your furnace better break down Monday to Wednesday as parts ordered Friday at 1 p.m. never show up until Monday even though promised for Saturday, in today's world they can't even track where the parts are but the electronic invoice is on your computer before the tech is off the property. Their parts suppliers are not open on weekends so their couriers can't deliver on weekends and then it takes four days after the part finally arrives to get a tech to come back to put it in, you have no priority. This is not the first time this has happened , it is their normal routine so be prepared to be down for at least a week in freezing temperatures. They may have 24/7 phone service but that's where the good service it ends. It's not the techs fault, he orders the part and is told it will be delivered, it's their system that puts the customer last. Oh yes, get ready to hear "someone will get back to you in 4 to 8 hours", don't hold your breath, I haven't received one call yet.

Several months ago I was deciding whether to buy my water heater outright, or enter into another rental contract. I'm glad I had a contract with Enercare yesterday, when water started to spray out the motor housing on top of the tank. Seems that condensation forming inside the venting pipe that goes up two floors to the roof, was running back down to the tank and I needed a drain installed. I called at 1pm and the work was done quickly, cleanly and professionally by 8pm. Pleasant friendly technician Aydar handled it smoothly. Thanks!

I would like to share an experience that has happened to us by enercare. We had our fireplace cleaned recently by a enercare technician where he caused property damage to our home by accident. One of the tempered glass to the fireplace shattered as he took it off. He did his due diligence to fill out a report to enercare about the incident so that we can have this fixed hopefully in the near future as we will need our fireplace functional into the fall season shortly. Enercare hasn't reached out to us to follow up on this incident/ claim. I have called there many times over the past week and they haven't returned my call or messages. This is important to our family and they have no sense of urgency to call us to handle. My mother is a senior and needs the fireplace to be working as she is cold most of the time. This is the worst customer service I've experienced in my life by any company. So far they've showed little care about this matter, no one answers phone calls or returns messages too. I know if I caused property damage to someones home I would be in communication with them often and rectify the situation asap!

Technician Norm Rollin came to fix my hot water tank in the morning just before we were going to do Thanksgiving in the evening and were very concerned as no hot water was coming from the taps in the house. Norm was the most professional, knowledgeable, courteous and helpful technician that I have had the experience of working with on issues related to hot water tanks, furnaces, AC and associated duct issues. Norm fixed not just my water tank which was the issue that I had called for assistance on where the valve and thermostat controller needed to be changed but he went out of his way to review associated thermal heating issues that could have implications down the road. Norm explained very clearly what the problem was, how he was going to repair it, what I should do on a regular basis to ensure good operation, and what I should watch for in the future. All in all I would give Norm Rollin an A+ in every category of measurable service and really emphasize that this was the best customer service that I have ever received - he is a total credit to Enercare and makes the company look very very good!

I expect this review will be pulled. My AC stopped working in the middle of the late May heat wave. I contacted the "Big Three" Enercare, Mr Furnace and J & S Heating. I was unsure if my unit was worth the repair or buy new. Also, I was pondering about replacing my furnace. I was underwhelmed by all three who sent "sales" representatives. I will focus my comments about Enercare for the review on the Enercare link. Chris the "sales representative" was pleasant as he shared information about ac and furnaces. I was crystal clear that I was weighing my options and wanted him to send me an email to prescribe prices on the options I requested. The next day I received a contract to sign which outlined only one option which included leasing equipment. I showed no interest to leasing. I received this "contract to sign" 24 hrs after the "dog and pony show". I kindly emailed Chris to remind him of my request for all options. Twenty four hours later, the only communication I received was another contract with the lease part removed. Upon reflecting the "first contract", I decided that I believed Chris did not have my best interest at heart so I changed gears and proceeded to contact smaller vendors. Yesterday, I contacted Performance Heating and Air. I indicated my options which included either repairing or replacing my ac unit. Within a couple of hours, Jason arrived from Performance where I reiterated my primary concern regarding the ac unit. His first impulse was to see if it could be repaired before even considering a sale for a new unit. In a short time the unit was repaired. In the future, if I have any heating or cooling concerns I know I won't be calling Enercare and you can guess which number I will dial!

The technicians from Enercare have been great. But this summer/fall has been a nightmare with our air-conditioning. We had NO air-conditioning ALL summer. Finally in Sept. 17 the technician found a valve that needed replacing and the air-conditioning worked. BUT!!! we have ended up with a bill for work done on Sept 18, when we were not even at home! Enercare claims they changed the fluid in our air-conditioner whereas the technician told us that all that was needed was a valve changed that was covered by the maintenance plan. After 'umpteen' hours on the phone we cannot clear this up even though their is NO invoice with either my wife or my signature on it. ............. I have a job of my own and have lost MANY hours as Enercare wants me to pay for work that was NEVER done!!! ADVICE!! --- document everything and get the technician to sign a copy for you!!!

This summer our air conditioner failed. We called early in the evening and were told that someone would be coming. We took them at their word that service was available 24/7. Neither of us slept, since were were waiting for the service call. The next morning we called again and there was confusion as to when we had called. They finally came around noon. Since they had not lived up to their contract of 24/7 we stopped payments. Then the collections department started calling. We finally paid the outstanding $50+. After payment was made the calls have continued. This is not a well-run company. Go to someone else.

I was overwhelmed by the service I received from Enercare. We were without hot water so I called for service. They were able to come to the house the next morning which surprised me. Upon inspection it was determined that a sensor part had to be ordered and it would arrive the following day at 3pm. When it didn’t arrive on schedule they got on the phone and traced it. We were told it would arrive by courier at 730pm and that they would send a technician to install it. Sure enough a technician arrived just before 730 as the part arrived on time. Two hours later the part was installed by technician Jeff and we were in business for a long awaited hot shower. Thanks to the team at Enercare. Very impressive. Cheers to all

I am very disappointed with the service. I called today around 3pm for service. I paid for Heating Protection Plan. The technician should arrive within 3hrs. So they scheduled me for next day. Temperature - 17C. 24/7 service they claim . So I called the local guy Mr. Furnace and they show up at my house within 1hr. No more protection plan; no more baloney. Very unhappy customer!!!!!Following my communication, Enercare was very prompt to respond. They did compensate me and we are on good terms. I am happy now. Two years ago they install new ac in my house and the installation was done very professionally. Overall they are good people.

This technician came and replaced the same bracket/ clip but was waiting outside when my husband knocked on his van to say the pilot light was off again. My hot water heater/tank rusted from within, producing a slow leak. This is not repairable. I was looking for options, and going to install another tank myself. However, Eric Guindon of Enercare, showed me the light and impressed me enough to give them a call. Customer service on the 1800 number was a little shaky, of the 3 times I spoke to them, I feel like its not a local call center, however the local reps I spoke to were fantastic. I had technicians Aaron C. and Dylan show up. Two experienced installers who were early, professional, clean, insightful without being pushy, overall I'm super impressed. I went with a tankless model as per Aaron C's observation, and I'm actually excited for this new equipment, very nice clean work after I inspected their final results. Way to go guys. Thank you, a week without hot water is a good reminder of how lucky we are in case you forget :)

This is the worst customer service I have ever received from a company. I phoned because my hot water heater was leaking and needed a technician to come out. The first arrangement was 11am-3pm , within 5 minutes I received a call that he could not come till 4pm. ( that was fine) It is now 9pm , in the several calls I made in the last 5 hours to find out what’s going on , their reply was “ he’s coming “ This last call I was assured he would be here by midnight!!!! I have now been waiting now since 11am. On 3 occasions when I enquired I was also told “ someone will be phoning you right back “ This is a rental property and we’re paying a rental fee on the hot water heater to this company. The service and communication is the absolute worst . I hope I never have to deal with this company again!!!!! From 11am till 12 am , absolutely ridiculous.

How about zero stars. I am an Enercare customer and contacted them on Sat because my furnace stopped working. Earliest tech was Sunday - they arrived and ordered a part. The soonest someone can come and install is Wed evening. That's 5 days without heat and that seems ok with Enercare. I have attempted to escalate and I'm in a telephone customer service vortex. This "protection plan" is useless and the customer service is very poor. Not sure what happened. I only had positive things to say about Direct Energy.

I called Enercare last week requesting a salesperson to look at our hot water heater which was woefully out of date. Andrew, the salesperson arrived on Monday January 18th and convinced me to go to a tank less system. Andrew was extremely knowledgeable about all of the products The installers arrived Thursday January 21. Aaron and Dylan were extremely polite and used drop cloths to prevent dirt on the carpet and were always Covid-19 compliant. It was soon evident that these two gentlemen were highly skilled in their trade and finished the whole installation in 3 hours. They did a very good job cleaning up and left me with a system that has hot water anytime I want it and at a much more efficient cost. From Andrew arriving and Aaron and Kyle leaving the house this has been a very good experience. I would recommend Enercare to anyone.

I was glad I recently took the protection plan for my furnace and A/C. A few weeks later I notice by chance that the A/C unit was making unusual noise when shutting down. The service call would have cost me $200 had I not been on the protection plan. First of all, I have no complaints about the kindness and professionalism shown by Enercare employees. Both the call centre and technicians show empathy. However, timely resolutions are just not there. The first time I had to call enercare it took 4 separate visits to resolve my furnace issue...FOUR....that was a year an half ago. Recently Aug 3rd 2020 our fan on the furnace stop working. Which means our central air can't be delivered. I called Enercare and a tech was here in 2 hours...I was impressed. Two parts had to be replace and he would have to order them because it's not a stock item. The next day, Enercare called and said the part needed, is in Calgary and it would take a week to get here...yes a week. I called yesterday and there was no update. But some type of ticket was create and someone would call me later Sunday or first thing Monday. No one called. So I called again and was told the part is on back order, After some push back from me, the rep said the part is being delivered tomorrow. It's currently 36 degrees C in the house not taking in the humidity. Very disappointed in Enercare.

A water heater was installed last Tuesday and it seemed to go well but when I went down to do laundry the tank was leaking from the pipe couplings. Very difficult to get anyone to listen to me because they do not know the business , Which is just take calls. This morning a young man named Sean Carter showed up. My furnace stopped working and I called Enercare company, January the first 2021. They sent a technician right away. The technician, Zaw, was very professional, very knowledgeable, polite and patient. He found the problem very quickly and tried to fix it with the equipment he had but he couldn’t. He, then, ordered the part online. Before leaving, he gave me two space heaters and he was sad he couldn’t fix my furnace. January 4th, 2021, I received the part around 4pm and I called Enercare who sent me the technician, Zaw, right away. Zaw had a big smile and was happy that I received the part quickly. I called Enercare at the end of the timing window to find out were they were, I was told that they were on there way, guess what they were a no show, no phone call nothing. In a nutshell, we could not get past the call center firewall to have a time sensitive issue resolved. After posting the review, Enercare reached out to us and promptly resolved our issue. We are grateful for their timely resolution. As such, I have changed the review to 3 stars. It's 3 stars and not 4 or 5, because as much as Enercare responded to the review, they still need a way to go meet immediate needs of customers without forcing customers to revert to public review forms. ORIGINAL REVIEW Enercare is a very large company with a lack of interest in meeting customers' needs. Calling for assistance to get an inspection report on a heating system led to endless calls about how the process works and not on how to meet the customers' needs. It appears that the process works for Enercare and the customer is simply a cog in their wheel. It is the only inspection that I have experienced that did not end with the service technician leaving an inspection report at the time of the inspection, but rather being told that a report will be sent in a couple of weeks.. really? Be very careful in choosing this company. Select other local companies first as they care about meeting the needs of the customer.... Your heating and cooling needs in our climate are way too important to trust in a call center agent (working on behalf of Enercare) that lives outside of the country and outside of the climate that you need managed. Go local and stay away from this large process oriented company that places their process ahead of customer needs.

We bought a new A/C unit and it was installed a few days later. The two gentlemen that came out were great. They were here when they said they would. It only took a couple of hours to install. Don't sign up for their maintenance plans because they don't honour what you pay for .Appointments times set are not respected and changed at the companies convenience without asking customer first .The information their sales team provide when they call is simply to get you to sign up so they can take your money and not service the HVAC system. DO NOT USE ENERCARE TO RENT A WATER HEATER. Enercare does not care about their customers or their reputation. I sold my home and provided Enercare with the new owners information several times. The new owner also called in several times and they refused to deal with him. It took months to get everything straightened out. Because of all the problems I ended up continuing to pay the monthly rental. The house sold in July 2020 and I still have not received my overpayment. I have called several times and emailed twice the information to the back office that they requested. I still have not heard from anyone or received my money. He told us that there was a machine that could remove the moisture. I called Enercare and they sent out Andrew Gomme. He told us an HRV would solve the problem, so we got one installed. During our regular furnace maintenance, the technician turned off our hot water heater. Maybe that is part of the protocol. However, he failed to turn it back on and I only discovered it when we ran out of hot water. I believe that this happens at every service but usually they turn it back up to high and we end up scalding ourselves. I have never been disappointed dealing with this company. Our latest experience was a problem with our air conditioner. We have the home protection package for furnace, air, and plumbing. I called in to the customer service rep, he said the technician would be at the house within a day. He was actually at the house in 13 hours which was very impressive. When he got here, he was in and out in 20 minutes. I have had to use the protection package about 5 or 6 times in the past 10 years and every time, it has worked out for me. So I called enercare today to cancel my service plan witch they refused to do because my new plan restarted in March witch I had no idea. So very grateful for the help, support and service today by Tony D. I very much appreciated Tony's initial phone call before arriving to the rental house to let me know he was on his way. After his diagnostic, he then gave me a call again to let me know that he didn't have the needed part but that he had already ordered it and that it would be delivered to the house by the afternoon. All I can say is scam artists, do not let elderly family sign up with Enercare. I would provide zero stars if possible. In April we purchased a house from a lovely 93 year old lady who had an Enercare hot water tank rental, she informed us the contract is up soon as the tank is 8 years old so we thought nothing of it at the time of purchasing our home because we were under the impression due to the age of the tank it being 8 years old that the buy out fee/cost would be very little if anything at all. Most hot water tanks typically have a life span of 7-8 years and usually become less efficient after this time as they use more gas to heat as well loose ability to effectively provide hot water to all of the water sources in the house for instance say two people were to shower at once when the tank is new it would provide enough hot water for the task but at the age of our tank we run out of hot water near the end of 1 person taking a 4 minute shower. To adress my issue with Enercare, We have decided it would be best at this time to replace and upgrade the hot water tank with a new more efficient and slightly larger one at our own expense and purchase our own tank elsewhere to install. I called Enercare to inquire about the contract that was put in place by the previous home owner to ask what the remainder of time was left and what the cost/fee would be to buy out the tank if any as the tank is 8 years old and no longer effectively providing hot water. Enercare informed me in order to buy out the 8 year old 40 gallon hot water tank it would cost me a fee of $649.00 +hst as the contract is for the life of the tank which does not have an end time or date set in place. I asked them how this was possible that they want to charge me full resale value for the fee to buy out a defective 8 year old product as they have already covered their costs for the tank (a new 40 gallon hot water tank costs roughly $490-600 for contractor price) over the 8 year period as the rental fee is $23.99 a month during the last 8 years they have already made $2303.08 on rental fees for this unit. I asked to speak with the supervisor and informed the supervisor the tank is no longer effectively providing hot water and that I can purchase a new more efficient 60 gallon unit for $640 @my cost or replace it with a similar but new 40 gallon unit for $500. The supervisor informed me that Enercare will not budge on the price and he agrees with me that this is not right but it is out of his hands as he understands it would be like purchasing an 8 year old vehicle for the original resale price. The Enercare supervisor informed me that the other option to cancel the rental hot water tank contract would be for me to terminate the rental over the phone and then Enercare would go after the previous home owner (a 93 year old lady) and charge her the cost/fee of $649.00 to buy out the contract as it is still in her name and was not transfer to us the new home owners at the time we purchased the home, as this is typically what he recommends to people. I find this both disgusting and disturbing that this large company Enercare would conduct business this way and take advantage of seniors and the elderly. I myself will NOT be taking this so called "Enercare Supervisors" advice as that is not right and wanted to share my experience as why I think they are taking advantage of the elderly and seniors who may not 100% fully understand the terms to a contract of which they may sign to be provided service by this company Enercare.

Typically when I make an appointment with Enercare for my annual furnace maintenance, I call them back a few days later to ensure they have in fact booked the date. Most often they have not. In fact, I think of approximately ten appointments, they have successfully booked one. Enercare feel free to review my file to see for yourself. Unfortunately I did not call back to confirm my appointment today and surprise surprise, they didn’t show. I called the company and spoke with a representative who was kind enough to put me on hold and schedule a new appointment for a day that I am working, thus I cannot be here. I am no longer taking half days away from work so that I can sit waiting as I have done so many times in the past. When I explained that I am working that day, she explained that I would have to call back to rebook as ‘it took so long’ for her to rebook the new appointment. I’m not sure in which world Enercare exists wherein my three hours or waiting today equates to her five minutes of work, alas I must call back again to find a new appointment date. This company has never once done anything to impress me, I have wasted time and lost money with this company and have sat on this very stool for hours at a time either on the phone or waiting. Again, Enercare check your records to review my file which is filled with examples of professional incompetence on your part. Wishing I had never signed on with your company.

Not impressed. While the new furnace was installed on schedule they walked off with our permanent high efficiency filter. Three calls to them and a week later..... no resolution. Today the duct cleaner shows up with inadequate equipment. Maybe we should have went with Reliance?!

Our A/C wasn't doing very well, as the house was getting hotter, not cooler, with the A/C on all throughout the day. Upon inspecting the unit outside and the furnace in the basement, I noticed that ice was forming along the pipe connecting the furnace to the outside unit. Enercare, i.e. Jeff Reed, came on time, did a very thorough diagnostic test to determine if there were any refrigerant leaks in the system, and whether any of the equipment required any repair or replacement. Fortunately, he noticed that the refrigerant level was low, that there were indeed only minor leaks in the system, that the system's vacuum situation was OK, and that none of the major equipment needed repair nor replacement. Jeff was very helpful and informative throughout the visit, and did some valve cover and stem replacement, along with some refrigerant charging. Today, thanks to Jeff, we have a fully cooled, comfortable and happy home!

Our problem was that the hot water boiler would take at least 5-8 minutes to run hot water on some day and then provide almost boiling water for the next couple of days. There had to be something askew with its thermostat perhaps or there may have been another problem. John the technician who came looked at all aspects of possibilities but could not determine why it was doing this so he finally reset the thermostat and we have not had the same problem since. Both the furnace and hot water boiler were replaced only two years ago so we did not anticipate having any problems with either at all. This was a surprise, but fortunately all is fine now. 2 yers in a row I’ve booked my furnace and fireplace maintenance for the same day. The rep on the phone confirmed same day and appointment booking. The service tech arrived today and said he did not receive an order for the fireplace maintenance. Same thing happened last year. I called today to speak to a manager, was put on hold, then was told there were system issues and a manger would call me back. That was 7 hours ago, still no callback. The booking process and service is terrible. If you get cut off, they don’t call you back.

We’ve recently moved to Kitchener and heard all suggestions from friends and acquaintances that we should get a water softener since Kitchener is known for hard water. Our builder recommended Enercare as it will prevent voiding warranty when installing the water softener system. We made an appointment over the phone with ease and then we met Sean Carter, our water technician. Sean was super friendly and helpful with the knowledge he has. He doesn’t shy away from educating home buyers like us and ensured all of our questions are answered. After our initial appointment where he has installed our system, he arranged a follow up appointment to make sure the system is doing it’s job, which it is! Sean has previously shown us a water test (free!) during the first visit, which showed exactly how hard our water is. During the follow up appointment, it did not even need the softener solvent to remove all the harsh properties in our water! I bought out my water heater in January 2021. Since then, Enercare has continued to bill me every month for the rental. Every month, when I get my bill, I call them and they say they are going to fix it. The following month......once again not fixed. Not sure how this can go on month after month - you would think this would be a very simple task to remove the charge from my bill, but I have wasted a countless amount of time, every month to try and sort this out. My most recent call - I was promised that it would be escalated and I would receive a return phone call within 48 hours. Still waiting......... Any way to give them a minus rating? Water heater started leaking during the night. They did have a tech here by 9:15 which was a nice surprise. Said the unit had to be replaced and after calling 2 supervisors...one who did not get back to us after 2hrs waiting...that no one could do it until some time Monday. Called the customer service and the fellow was rude. Called Reliance and they are coming 8am tomorrow and will drop off Enercares unit. We're missing equipement I've contacted them on numerous occasions to fix this problem and no one gets back to me. Our experience with Enercare was excellent from start to finish! We were in an emergency situation where we needed to have a new furnace installed ASAP in our rental property. We called Enercare and the following day Abuzar, our certified energy management consultant came to meet with us. He was professional, knowledgeable and provided us the right equipment for the house. So after almost causing 4 casualties, due to carbon monoxide poisoning, they had the nerve to put off replacing the tank?????! What more can be said. I tried to get the air conditioner annual maintenance since early June after i received the reminder email from Enercare. When I phoned, I was told the system wouldn't allow it to be scheduled. I had numerous followup emails and even calls but nothing could get scheduled. I was told the system wouldn't take the request or there won't be anyone in my area for a few months. Long story short, I finally had the maintenance done last week after having to escalate the issue. In the past, it has been in May or June but for some reason, I had to wait until the summer was over half over. While I had the chance I asked for the furnace maintenance at the end of September but was told the same thing being the system wouldn't take the order. I ended up having it done with the air conditioner so as not to risk having to wait until January to have it done. This level of service is totally unacceptable. I asked for some compensation relief and was bluntly told no. Enercare needs to step up the service part if they want to keep customers.

If I could give 0 stars I would have done that. This is a company of fraudsters and conmen. DON'T REGISTER WITH THEM. They will say all labour and parts are covered under protection plan to hook you in. Then they will charge you 4 times market price for both labor and parts. You can't cancel their plan. If you do they will charge you with 2 times the penalty. They will charge you you even if you are not getting any service from them.

They did the job promptly, efficiently and courteously, cleaned up afterwards and even shared their expertise when we asked them questions unrelated to the installation. Our hot water tank died and we had a new tankless hot water system within 24 hours. We decided to replace our ancient furnace at the same time and they were able to schedule that right away also. I feel the customer service is par for the course which is to be expected, but I wanted to specifically leave a review after our recent experience with Enercare technician Bill. Bill was courteous, prompt and very friendly! He was clearly knowledgeable and what I found was exceptional is that he genuinely cared about our experience - meaning he probably truly enjoys his work! He took care to provide suggestions and listen to our concerns. He clearly explained next steps after he had to order parts for us to complete the service. We were able to request for him to come back and complete the work rather than having someone else which I also think was a great bonus! Awakened on a Tuesday morning to water draining from the hot water heater to the floor drain - called the gas company about 9:00 am and was immediately passed over to Enercare - based on the original date of the hot water heater it was immediately suggested to replace it - Appointment made for the next day between 8:00 am and 12:00 noon - the service guy called the next morning at 9:05 AM said he be here in 20 minutes - and they were - in fact they had the job completed and were on their way by 10:15 AM. Really nice personable service people and readily informed me of the changes to the new heater and answered satisfactorily all my questions which I'm sure they'd heard a thousand times. No mess - no fuss - but a great install in a very timely manner.

I had a sump pump that decided to stop working during a heavy rain storm. I called right away. Even though the plumbing package does not cover them, I was able to book a plumber to come and assess the problem. Brett was very pleasent and told me all the options. He installed a new pump, filled the pit a few times to test it and cleaned up after he was done. He was here about an hour and now I have peace of mind that there won't be any problems for the next storm.

Wish I could give 0 stars, we live in Canada and for the last 3 weeks haven't had hot water - our water heater system is also used to heat our house and since it's February it is COLD. Keep getting the runaround with the service techs, Customer service is polite but can't do anything to get the job done. Looking for other options now.

Called Enercare after having experienced a power surge and realizing that the furnace blower was not working when we tried to activate the A/C. I explained what had happened to the rep I spoke with. A contractor arrived and when I explained what I believe happened. He replied that he could look at the furnace or the A/C as they were 2 separate calls. I had to pick one. I got the feeling that he didn't actually want to be there. I told him that if I could only pick one then he should look at the furnace as I believed that's where the problem. He then confirmed what I suspected, that the main board (ECM) was damaged and possibly the blower motor as well but that that couldn't be confirmed until after the ECM was replaced. He explained that the cost was approx. $1000 each and that if he ordered the motor and it wasn't needed that I would still be responsible for the cost as it couldn't be returned. He made it clear that he was contracted and not employed by Enercare. He suggested that I replace the furnace which was less than 5 yrs old. He implied that the furnace was inferior. When I set up the visit with Enercare I was advised that the service call would be $99 and was given the option to have the cost added to my gas bill or to pay the service contractor. I opted to pay the service tech when at the house but was informed by him that he had no means to accept payment and I would be billed through the gas company. The report that was filed regarding the visit indicated that my ducts were in good condition and had been cleaned in less than 3 yrs and that I had a working CO alarm and that I was advised that it was a legal requirement. As he never looked at my ducts or for the CO alarm which was located on the the top floor, I don't know how he drew these conclusions. i was never asked if I had a working CO alarm or when my ducts were last cleaned. Although I was originally satisfied with the installation process of the new furnace and AC at the time, in hindsight I now feel that I was sold an inferior and over priced system, ( I was in a hurry at the time.) This was my first experience with a service call and it left a bad taste in my mouth.I wont be doing business with Enercare again.
