This company did an amazing job for us. We hired them to clean windows, pressure wash the house, deck and patio, and clean the gutters. The change was like night and day. Best $1,000 I ever spent (we were putting the house up for sale). Everything was like new after! The patio, deck, and vinyl siding, which had algae on them, were immaculate! Their window-washing equipment is unmatched: they use filtered water so the windows were *invisible* after. I accidentally got Barrie water from the sprinkler on the sliders afterward and could not restore them to the beautiful state that ShackShine achieved. However, the rest of the windows were still gorgeous. Bonus, the people came on short notice, came when they said they would, and were professional and pleasant.

This is a review on their interview process ( maybe it changed by now ). Almost 3 years ago I had an interview with the Barrie owner inside a Tim-Hortons. The interview questions were very demeaning for an interview. I was told to define the word “morals” after I used it. My definition of “morals” is my own rules and what I live by. I was told that isn’t what it means. Imagine working for someone who tries to tell you what your morals are? None of the questions asked were work related at all as it was more of a philosophical interview instead. They probably are a great company to use, but imagine going to an interview and having to explain what your morals are only to be told that is not what morals are. I wanted to work at Shack Shine Barrie because I did research on them and knew I would be a great fit. But after that interview however, it seemed the Barrie owner wanted to change peoples views on their own life to work there. Disrespectful, demeaning and the owner of the Barrie franchise should not be asking people to define their morals, and arguing about them because he doesn’t believe they are morals.

Brandon had so much experience on placement and an eye for detail, my guests were able to dance late into the night ! Will certainly continue to use Shack Shine Barrie for all of my outdoor home detailing needs, and will be calling shortly to book a skylight cleaning!

Had them do both of our homes. First house was ok but we had to have them back as they missed one window and had touch ups on others. Also they had not cleaned the frames around the windows even though we had in writing they would. They did come back and fix everything and we were fine with the finished product. So we had them come to our other house and again they missed a window and missed quite a few spots along with not cleaning the frames very well. Arranged for them to come back again. A new fellow came and everything we showed them he had an excuse for it. Silicon on window, tape on window. He said there would be an extra charge. I explained to him that I doubt they had silicon on them and that the windows did not have tape on them as they came with a plastic film on inside of entire window. No tape on outside of them. He argued with me that all windows come with tape on them and I explained I was here when they were installed and no tape was on them and I have pictures. I had enough of arguing so asked him to leave. He kept going on that it is tape and silicon. I said just get out of my house. My wife was surprised I was asking him to leave. When he was in garage he made some derogatory comments and comments about being rich etc. I phoned and talked to the owner and his response was that they are professionals and know when tape and silicon are on windows for new builds. I let him know that once his guy had left I went up to the one window that his guy had said was silicon and took a dishcloth with water and was able to clean it. Then dried it with scott towel. If it was silicon you would need steel wool or a knife to remove silicon. He said they could come back to clean up the misses but if some of them don't come off there would be extra charges. I said thanks but no thanks, I will finish myself, I had had enough of dealing with them.

We had Shack Shine clean the exterior of our house windows. The company representatives were very courteous and prompt during the estimate and re-scheduling (weather didn’t cooperate). When the crew arrived, the young men were prompt, polite and efficient. They did an exceptional job on our living room and kitchen windows as well as our patio doors. On the remainder of the windows, however, the finished product wasn’t QUITE as good. Our dining room and bedroom windows are just high enough as to require the use of an extension pole, unless a ladder is used. Our 2 second story windows are quite high and also obviously needed an extension pole (or again, a ladder). Since the crew didn’t use a ladder, their extension pole, together with the window sill, limited their ability to get the correct angle to effectively clean and squeegee the bottom 1/4 of the “higher” windows. They did a great job with the equipment they had but a ladder would have produced better results. Update: Michael from Shack Shine contacted me about my concerns on this and came out to the house to try and rectify the issue on the bottom 1/4 of the windows. He showed me how all the remaining “dirt” on the windows was in fact not dirt but significant hard water staining and mineralization. Despite his best efforts he was obviously unable to remove these without some specialized cleaners, so we decided to have this addressed next year. Bottom line: great company, great staff, great service.

We got them to install Christmas lights on our 2-storey house and two tall spruce trees for the past two years and we’ve been very happy with the result. They made sure the lights were facing the correct directions and guarantee the bulbs to be in working order. They secured all of the wires and even when a small string of lights did fall due to high winds, the guys were back that same day to correct it. I highly recommend them. Hired shackshine to clean windows however their was 4 window screens they couldn’t removed. Spent about 45 mins and still couldn’t get them out. They gave us a price of 300$ interior and exterior however because it took them longer then expected due to them trying to remove screens, they charged us an extra 100$ and they couldn’t clean the outside of those 4 windows... never again... make sure the price they quote is the price your ganna pay...

Easy online booking and quote. Reasonable cost. Email reminders of event. Truck showed up on time. Work went well, men responsible and friendly. Only thing I wish I received invoice/receipt by email immediately with booking confirmation. I took a screen shot upon completing online form. Email said I could contact them by email or phone for invoice.

These guys are over priced. Hired local company that has been in business for a long time and cost me about 1/2 the price. Shop around! These guys don’t include tracks, frames and sills, unlike other local companies.
