After a few good word-of-mouth referrals to Revelation Health Centre, I decided I would book an appointment. I must admit I was skeptical of the whole Chiropractic approach, even though I have never been to one. Dr. John was amazing at delivering not only a great physical treatment for the issues I had, but for providing me with knowledge as to how to prevent them in the future. I really felt like Dr. John cared about me as a patient. He wasnt there to give me pills or send me off to another doctor, something I absolutely was pleased with. I am sick of getting prescribed pills that only work for a while, then have the same resurfacing issues later on. I have had symptoms from post-concussion syndrome for about nine months. For most of that time I was seeking treatment from various medical professionals that didn't seem to really get me anywhere. My symptoms included: constant headaches, nausea, muscle soreness, balance issues, and serious dizziness. After a few months of spinal and brain treatment from Revelation Health Centre (specifically Dr. John) my headaches have became increasingly uncommon, the nausea is completely gone, my balance is fully restored, and the dizziness is almost non-existent. I am finally living almost free of pain after almost a year and I don't think I could have gotten here without Revelation Health. As an athlete who hasn't been able to play sports since the injury, I feel a new sense of comfort and freedom finally being cleared to go back. I would highly highly suggest visiting the Health Centre.

I initially went in to see Rebecca for tightness and soreness in my legs. As a varsity athlete at the UofC she was able to get me feeling 100% week in and week out. She is amazing and super talented. She even went above and beyond and gave me some Epson salts that she made herself to aid recovery. Dr Keith has been amazing to work with. He provides an in-depth analysis of body alignment. On top of getting adjustments to fix my alignment, Dr Keith also takes the time to explain everything that is going on and what I can do at home to help resolve the issues. Dr John was amazing in my one session with him. He was able to get me feeling better than I have in months in just 15 minutes. He explained diet changes to make and at home exercises I could do in order to make sure all my muscles were firing properly. Overall the clinic was amazing and there attention to detail was second to none. Everything was clean and flowed smoothly. From the receptionist to the Doctors everyone was very friendly and caring.

I have been seeing Dr John for about a month now, and I have seen some amazing results already. I've had totalled 11 concussions, starting when I was 2 years old, and haven't known anyone reliable that could help me start to recover from these injuries. Symptoms that I have been dealing with are dizzy spells when standing up, very reactive temper, thoughts of suicide, issues with my balance, neck mobility, as well as concentration issues, chronic knee pain from sports injuries. Also apparently my teeth grinding is connected! For the past 2 weeks I have only had 1 dizzy spell when standing. For the first time last week, in I don't even know how many years, I had a few days completely pain free in my knee. My emotional state is levelling out, and my ability to concentrate on tasks like reading, and even writing this have improved so much. I also love the vibe of the office, the girls at the front are incredibly friendly and welcoming, Dr John cracks some pretty solid dad jokes as well, and the knowledge I am learning about myself and how everything is connected is amazing. I have seen a few other Chiropractors previously, and I feel like I have found the one I would like to continue seeing for the foreseeable future!

I have gone to a few different chiropractors in my life but Dr. John has been uniquely the best. Dr. John is so much more than a chiropractor. He offers nutritional advice, options for reducing stress and regaining life balance, and insight into how to getting healthier naturally. Personally, I am a very active, young adult, but I also have had a high-stress work environment and like anyone else, personal circumstances that bring stress into my life. I first went to Dr. John simply to help straighten out my back (I dance and tend to push myself and hurt later). However, due to stress in my life and not always making healthy choices (though I considered myself to be healthier than many other people), I had also been experiencing poor digestion, blood sugar level imbalances and was frequently getting sick. Dr. John goes to the roots of these causes. He doesn't just want you to come in so he can solve your immediate problem - he wants you to be better able to meet life's challenges with a healthier, stronger body and outlook. Essentially, he is trying to improve your well being so you DON'T have to come in to see him every week, but only need to come for check-ups every now and then! I am happy to report that I feel much healthier than where I was a year ago, and have new tips and ideas for maintaining my health. If you are looking to meet personal health goals, such as losing weight, reducing body pain by getting to root causes instead of just taking pills to cover the pain, improving emotional balance, and overall feel better naturally, then I highly recommend Dr. John! If you are just looking for someone to straighten your back and you don't want to take the time to understand what is going on in your body due to your environment and personal health choices, then this may not be for you.

I went to see Dr Battershill from a impingement on my back. I had very tight back muscles and it was just getting worst and hard to sit properly. I decided to see him and after several treatments I started to feel some great relief on my back. It took a long way to get where I am but i know he has fixed me with proper on going home exercise and certain food and supplements he recommends to destress my body. Apparently stress does cause the body a lot of strain. Now I see Dr Battershill once a month for tune ups! Highly recommend revelation health!

I really recommend, if you are feeling in pain, lost , looking for a solution, come, you might find more that you think. I sought out an clinic like Revelation Health Centre after a beneficial visit with a clinic in the US that used the same techniques that Dr. John applies every day. Needless to say I have never looked back and have had very little need for painkillers of any sort since I started going to the Centre. The approach at the Centre is one I feel is unmatched anywhere else in the city. Their value add is more then the process of receiving an adjustment. The staff at the Centre are extremely knowledgeable enhance their success rate through education about the relationship between the mind and body. I have recommended Revelation Health Centre to family, friends and colleagues many of whom remain clients of the Centre today.

As owner of A Laptop shoppe, I think Dr. John is a master at his craft he knows the bones and all the connecting membranes that go with it and gets right to the point. Previously I was seeing Dr. Nicholls who has since moved on to another stage of your life she was truly trustworthy, and Professional in every way possible. She really was attentive and had my best interest at heart I couldn't have done it without her. Even though she was going through a trying time switching offices, setting up and moving to a new office, and dealing with life emergencies, she really helped me right after my accident in July with a WCB claim and over 25 treatments. I would see her twice a week with excruciating shoulder and arm pain and she would treat me with Chiropractic, Laser, and Acupuncture. She took her time and made me feel very comfortable. I am so grateful to have found her through BNI; she really helped me through a difficult time. Slowly, but surely I started to feel better (be patient, this is not necessarily a quick process). Now I’m ready for the Ski season and Nakiska’s opening in Seventeen days. Nice and diverse office offering concussion treatment, and friendly staff too, highly recommended!

I stumbled into Revelation Health roughly 3 months ago in very poor shape regarding the health of my brain. I had sustained 13 concussions through through the sport of hockey ranging from my bantam years through until I was playing high level junior, the results of such extensive damage left me in a almost drunken state for a few years. With the help of Dr. Battershill and his methods of Functional Neurology I have had major rebounds in the health of my brain, as well as the side effects of the concussions. I have gone from sudden and aggravated mood swings, temporary black outs and constant headaches/dazed state, to now having almost zero symptoms of post concussion syndrome. It is an amazing feeling and if there is someone who has sustained brain trauma I would definitely recommend Dr. Battershill and his amazing team!

To me, that seemed like a good reference and so I decided to go see him. He helps and encourages you to make choices in your life that will benefit your health and well being. I first went to Dr. John when I had tennis elbow. He not only helped relieve that problem but he also helped make my droopy left should level with my right one.My husband was skeptical about chiropractors and what they do and when he seen what Dr. John had done for me he decided to give him a try. The reason he gave him a try is he had Dengue Virus about 2 years ago and since then has gotten better. The symptoms seem to come back from time to time and when he seen Dr. John he determined that his liver had been weakened by the viral infection. Through his treatments he was able to get his liver functioning properly and he hasn't had any serious setbacks from reminense of the Dengue Virus.I highly recommend Doctor John.

Seeing Dr. John was life changing. 2 years ago I got hit by a car as a pedestrian and have been suffering from concussion and whiplash while being in full time school. Dr. Battershill has worked wonders for me both at his old office location (Hillhurst) and now his new office location in Kensington. As an athlete who's worked out and played sports my entire life, you could say that I've definitely developed some nagging injuries that come and go. One of those is a shoulder injury that I experienced at the age of 17 where I tore my ACL joint in my shoulder playing hockey. When I work out in the gym and lift moderate to heavy weights, if I'm not extremely careful, I can hurt it easily. Last month was about the third time I've reinjured my left shoulder since I was 17 (10 years ago) and Dr. Battershill had me back in the gym in no time. He put me on an intense laser therapy routine and also did many active release technique / chiropractic sessions to nurse it back to health and get rid of the pain and soreness that was so bad I could not even focus at work. This week I had an appointment with Dr Battershill as I was experiencing extreme pain in my left leg, to the point it was difficult to get out of bed without having to conduct some fancy maneuvers. After a discussion, exam and then an adjustment the very next day I was as good as new. I have found a new favourite massage therapist! Jose is just THAT good! His clinical / therapeutic style of massage is excellent! Through his experience he looks for sore / tight areas that need work and will identify them during the massage and work on them. Lots of movement, hardly a passive massage... but still relaxing and will make you doze off! Very firm pressure and a talent for finding those sore spots! Also, Jose is very careful to not massage with too much force. I honestly thought no one could do better than someone I was seeing at APEX until I got Jose. I came in to see Dr. Battershill with a very complicated and painful injury that included a bulging disc, severe sciatica pain down my leg and stretched ligaments. I was flat on my back in severe pain. I was recommended the COX treatment for disc decompression therapy - a three week very specialized - hands on technique that usually takes three months to decompress the disc. After two months, I am now out of pain and am able to sit and stand again - I have my life back!! Absolutely amazing! I would give Dr John a 6 out of 5. If you have lower back issues you have to see Dr John at Revelation Health. I was unable to put socks on without sitting down. I was also taking short term relief cortisone injections every 6 months. Dr John and his decompression table has completely removed my lower back issues. You have to give this process a try.

What I most appreciate Dr. John is his tremendous care of his patients. Initially I found him to be very knowledgeable. Dr. John's holistic approach to treatment has brought me from near incapacity to full function again, and I am so grateful for his knowledge and skill. In September/14, I arrived home from a trip to the Caribbean where I had contracted chikungunya, a mosquito-borne virus for which there is no cure. It is similar to dengue fever. This illness produces severe, debilitating pain which affected me so badly my arms were nearly frozen by razor sharp pains in shoulders, elbows, wrists, thumbs and fingers, and my feet swelled up until walking and driving became very difficult. I desperately needed help but did not want to risk ending up on pain killers and/or cortisone injections. After being introduced to Dr. John, I wondered if chiropractic treatment might relieve my symptoms by possibly improving my circulation and getting my body in a stronger position to start healing itself. And it has worked so well! Once my treatment began, Dr. John's explanation that inflammation of internal organs, especially the liver, can affect the external body, the joints, and that a combination of supplements and spinal adjustments would gradually "peel the onion skin" back to health made sense to me. Along with the spinal adjustments, Dr. John worked on my painful arms and feet to gradually increase my range of motion and showed me simple massage techniques to stimulate my inflamed liver and intestines. I started seeing Dr. John in November/14 and within two months, by end of January/15, was pain free and completely functional again.

I woke up with a herniated disc a few weeks ago and went to see the nearest Chiropractor that day. My initial consultation with Dr. Battershill was great. I felt that he really took his time to thoroughly evaluate not just my disc, but entire body. He decompressed my spine using the motorized table of his which stretched my spinal column up and down. I felt like 10% of the pain I had went away after the first treatment. Consecutive treatments with Dr. Battershill have nearly diminished all my pain and my symptoms with my disc. June 14, 2019 As an eighty-two year old woman, I can genuinely and thankfully say that, “Wonders never cease!” Over the years, I have seen and received help from an excellent Massage Therapist and Physiotherapist; however, I had never visited a Chiropractor until recently. I have dealt with and managed having varying degrees of arthritis, osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis. In December 2018, for the first time, I developed a frozen shoulder, and I had also NEVER experienced the type of back pain that I felt ! I visited my doctor who sent me for x-rays, stated that my arthritis and osteoporosis was getting a bit worse, but had no suggestions as to how to improve this. In March, something felt “Out of whack” in my back and unfortunately, I was experiencing a lot of extra pain. I decided that although I had never visited a chiropractor before, (and to be honest, I was apprehensive about doing so as I had heard that chiropractors could be quite rough and actually add problems to existing issues! ), I desperately needed help and relief from the pain that I had been experiencing! I was experiencing so much pain that I had to take several Advil tablets each day. After first filling out a comprehensive questionnaire, I visited the “Revelation Health Center”, located in Kensington, for the first time in April 2019. I met Dr. John, who read my questionnaire, asked follow-up questions, and completed a variety of tests, which included testing my range of motion, alignment, etc. Dr. John said that I had problems/weaknesses with my ligaments, joints, tendons, that my left hip flexor was weak and internally rotating, my shoulders were misaligned, my nerves were compressed, and that I was a “complex” case. I felt overwhelmed at the variety of things that were wrong with me! I had horrible pain in my back and every step I took hurt very much. I had trouble getting into the car as a passenger, and was not even able to drive myself for 3-4 months! The first time I saw Dr. John, I could not even turn my neck, and every which way I moved, it would hurt. I told him exactly where the pain in my back was occurring. Dr. John explained that the nervous system is the foundation and building block for everything; seeing his posters of the skeletal system and having him show me exactly where my pain was coming from, as well where he would be able to help me, was very beneficial. He said that although it may take some time and would not be an overnight fix, he would definitely be able to help me. Dr. John sent me for x-rays, and read/explained the notes that accompanied those x-rays. He determined that in addition to the host of problems mentioned above, that as a consequence of my sciatic nerve being compressed, I also had sciatica in my back. It turns out that my awful pain was actually from sciatica and it took some time and effort to decompress those nerves. My sciatica is gone now and I do not have pain when I walk—all as a result of Dr. John’s work/manipulations! Dr. John is also very knowledgeable about a variety of vitamin supplements and minerals; personally, I prefer treating different conditions, when possible, using a natural approach as opposed to taking pharmaceutical medications. Learning that Dr. John also shares this approach is another thing which helped to alleviate some of my previous apprehensions associated with seeing a chiropractor. Dr. John is very professional and genuinely cares about helping his patients; his experience being a former “Calgary Stampeder” contributes to his caring for and personal understanding of people’s pain; he knows how significant and crucial it is to receive treatment which actually addresses the problem itself, as opposed to simply treating symptoms. It is amazing how much my pain has diminished, and how much better I feel since beginning to see Dr. John on April 2--he is just terrific! -E.R.

I am very, very grateful to have found Dr. John Battershill for my severe head injury!!! He has made such a huge difference in my life. Prior to seeing him, I was sleeping 12 hours a day (no, not kidding) and was losing hope of ever getting better. On the days I had to work, I had to pop 4 energy pills just to keep myself awake. But I wasn’t a whole lot better, my brain was still foggy and my comprehension was slow. After seeing Dr. John for a week, my energy level went up immediately and my brain felt clear for the first time in a long time. I no longer need the 12 hours of sleep; 8 hours is sufficient like a normal human being. I couldn’t believe it. Could not believe it. I have suffered 7 years (7 long years) and no one in the hospital or my family doctor ever told me about different head concussion treatments like this one. Actually, no treatment was offered to me at all by the medical doctors, they only told me to sleep and sleep. What I am most angry about is that they didn’t even advise me of some of the common side effects of severe head injury, and left me suffer severe depression on my own for a long time. In the last 7 years, I have taken more than 2 years off to sleep thinking that it’s the only way to recover. But I never did recover, it fact my condition got worse and worse. I wish I had known Dr. John years before and I could have gotten help earlier. If you are suffering from severe head injury, I would definitely recommend you give Dr. John a try.

I am six months pregnant and suddenly found myself with a pinched sciatic nerve. I was barely able to walk and in huge pain. My husband had to carry me to bed, it was that bad. I suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in May of this year. After receiving exceptional life saving care in hospital and 3 months of recovery, I was still experiencing severe headaches that would come on suddenly and sometimes last for minutes or sometimes for days. I visited Dr. John to have an adjustment to my lower back from the extended period of limited mobility. I mentioned the frequent and reoccurring headaches and we discussed the surgery and location of the injury. Dr. John suggested that we look at treating the injury as a concussion or other type of traumatic brain injury. After completing an assessment we started with eye light therapy combined with physical exercises to stimulate my brain followed with anti-oxidant nutrition and Chiropractic care. I was a patient at this clinic from August of 2018 until February of 2019 for Chiropractic care. I also went for numerous massage treatments during and after this time. At first the service was phenomenal. I had a less than stellar experience at a previous clinic where my pain and mobility was actually getting worse! Dr. John was able to identify areas of weakness and after working through those I was completely out of orthotics inside of 2 months! I will always be grateful for this as I had a sneaking suspicion that I should not have been in orthotics at all. One of the main reasons I had left my former clinic/chiropractor!! However, as time went on my symptoms didn’t improve any further and I was still experiencing pain and discomfort in my lower back, right hip and right leg. Dr. John was always great at listening to my feedback and taking the extra time to review symptoms prior to treatment, but I feel that in hindsight I should have been referred to a physiotherapist. I was sold A LOT of Liver and Gallbladder supplements and was advised that my issues were caused by biochemistry issues, but we didn’t do bloodwork first to confirm that my body was lacking in nutrients. Even after taking the supplements for a couple of months there was no further improvement in my condition. I decided to take a break from chiropractic care as the treatments and supplements were getting expensive, I was already on my way to maxing out my benefits and I didn’t want to yet spend another full year with out of pocket expenses without a desired result. In April I sought out another family doctor to get a fresh perspective, he reviewed previous X Rays on file and sent me for a new one. Both X Rays on file revealed that I had a non fused vertebrae (L5/S1) and I was sent to physiotherapy as a result. My physiotherapist identified poor movement patterns (referred to them as primitive movement patterns) that was resulting in my pain and inefficient movements, I couldn’t lift my right leg without engaging my right oblique muscles, at all. I was basically walking with my left leg and dragging my right. So I’ve stuck with Physiotherapy as we are finally making legit progress. No supplements necessary. I had a massage booked with Revelation for July 27th, I had made the appointment after my most recent massage on June 1st, 2019. However, I had to find out from my girlfriend that they no longer had a massage therapist on staff. She went to book a massage for herself and found out that the clinic no longer had a massage therapist on staff. They did not send out a courtesy email to advise their patients that any future appointments would need to be rescheduled, I ONLY found out because my girlfriend wanted to book an appointment. I’m very disappointed as I had spent a decent amount of money at this clinic, out of pocket, on a variety of treatments and supplements, yet they couldn’t give me a quick phone call or send me an email to advise that my massage would have to be cancelled or rescheduled!? It’s sad really, because I love everything that Dr. John and his staff preach about being pro-active, how everyone is an athlete and how we need to find and treat the cause, not treat the symptom. Everyone’s body is different and results may vary, however in my case we weren’t getting to the root cause. At the end of the day, I’m a results orientated person and unfortunately I had to go elsewhere to earn said results. I have been seeing Dr. Battershill since high school, when I started playing rugby and have continued for 15 years. Mainly for an adjustment now and then to maintain healthy alignment. I had a low back injury in 2013 that I believe if I had not gone to Dr. Battershill as part of my recovery and rehabilitation it would have taken a lot longer to heal. I also went for regular adjustments during my first pregnancy. While pregnant I had very little low back pain, and very few aches and pains which I think the adjustments played a part in. I know everyone has their opinion on adjustments and pregnancy, but I highly recommend making a consultation with Dr. Battershill if you think this is something that could be of benefit to you. I also went for adjustments post pregnancy which I feel helped my recovery.

I ran a full marathon in October 2016. In September, at the peak of my training I developed shin splints. It became very painful to run even a short distances. I saw Dr John twice in September.
