Here is how the College responded: "In hindsight, a flat-out denial was imprudent because this is the kind of thing that someone might not remember saying, or might say in an attempt to establish rapport with a claimant. However, since the remark and the denial of it are irrelevant to the substance of the reports, the ICRC will take no further action." So it appears that lying is acceptable if your peers somehow think it is. In any case an appeal is being launched so stay tuned.
