I was so hopeful about this place. After suffering from low back pain for a couple of months, Glenda Rose was recommended to me by a family member. Well I wasn't prepared for all the unnecessary stuff I was told while trying to receive treatment. I was told I was lactose intolerant, after she held up a vile of this clear liquid to my arm, I was told to buy rapeseed oil for the scars on my shoulder and I was told I would need multiple sessions to deal with my low back pain as well as a diet plan. After two adjustments and no apparent relief, I ended up falling to my knees out of the blue and I couldn't get up. I was screaming in agony because I couldn't move without my whole body going into spasm. My father and my husband said they had never seen anything like it. My husband held me in his arms and he thought I was having seizures because ever few seconds I would wretch. This was because I had a severely pinched nerve root and if I so much as moved my head or my toe slightly my whole body would spasm and it looked like a seizure. So off to the ER I went, and quite an in depth questioning I got, because they wanted to know who I went to and how long ago and what they did and if they said anything about possible herniated discs. I said no. Nothing was mentioned about it. They seemed extremely concerned that Glenda Rose never ordered an X-ray before touching me. I told them I had no idea I was supposed to have one, I had never been to a chiropractor before. The ER doctor recommended Sherri Lashomb as a chiropractor if I needed one. She is a chiropractor for the Buffalo Bandits I guess, but by that point I was too scared to try another chiropractor. Come to find out from 3 different specialists, I had 2 torn discs, and one herniated disc. 4 neurologists from 4 different places (Dr. Marie Kohmin and Patricia Shea NP at Niagara Family Medicine) (Lindsay Mandrino at Niagara Neurology) (Dr. Jodi Leonardo UB Neurosurgery) and (Dr. Jacqueline Joki Buffalo Spine and sports medicine) told me I had severe nerve damage and Sciatica and foot drop. They all said I should not have been adjusted without and X-ray and without a thorough examination from a spinal specialist and that the spinal adjustments I received had pushed the discs out of place and damaged the surrounding tissue. I was so upset with myself because I had trusted this place to help and it only made it worse. Much worse. After 6 months of Physical Therapy( Falcon Physical Therapy), 8 months of pain management, oral steroids, 3 sets of injections, 4 MRI's, a nerve conductivity test and a year of pain and suffering going from one doctor to another to get help I am getting better. I still have mild sciatica, but it's manageable. I was very lucky to avoid surgery but it was a close call. Dr. Leonardo who is a Neurosurgeon at UB Neurosurgery said that she wanted to put off surgery as long as possible to see if I would heal on my own. Be careful and do your research. Seek help from a legitimate health care professional first before seeking help from a chiropractor. And no, I'm not against chiropractic care, and neither were any of the doctors and specialists I saw, they all wanted to know if I had been to one and had told me that they would recommend one but they did stress you should ALWAYS get an opinion from a licensed medical professional first because not all ailments can be fixed with chiropractics and sometimes different techniques have to be used as back pain is very individual. You can't just go popping and cracking the body. Sometimes things get worse. My biggest problem with this place was that they were more concerned about selling other crap to me and dealing with things I didn't come in for and giving advice about things they knew nothing about. I think it was irresponsible that they didn't tell me I needed an X-ray, they should have known that.
