I have suffered with chronic pain from an old injury for over 20 years I've tried IMS, massage, traditional chiropractic, Nucca, nerve block injections, acupuncture, biofeedback and other treatments over the years, all without lasting success. I started out at Mission Family Chiropractic sceptically, but committed to long term treatment with Dr. Wood and it's been the best decision I could have made. Being adjusted (almost daily) by Dr. Wood for about 2 months now, I am finally seeing a reduction in tension headaches and pain. For me that's huge progress! I would highly recommend to anyone with compounding health issues not just back discomfort to explore mission family chiropractic as an option for treatment/care. I initially reached out to dr wood due to ongoing back issues but was surprised to learn the far reaching effects that spinal health has. As a relatively recent type 1 diabetic I have noticed an improvement in my blood sugar levels as we have progressed through spinal alignment corrections. My back issues have been greatly reduced and are on the way to being corrected and the unexpected bonus has been improvements in many other areas of health/life. Mission Family Chiropractic (MFC): I started going to MFC a little while after I moved to Kelowna (About 4 years go) without knowing that it would actually do anything good for me. My family members had been going to MFC for a few weeks (All for different reasons) and they suggested that I go in to see how my alignment was. I didn’t really like the idea of someone playing around with my back, but I figured that there was no harm in getting checked out. It turned out that my alignment wasn’t quite right, it was to the point where my shoulders were lopsided and my head tilted to compensate for it. Over the course of a year, adjustments were made and this was fixed. I also had a previous tailbone injury that Tim was able to alleviate as well. Overall Mission Family Chiropractic has a welcoming, homelike environment and has helped my family and I in many different ways. In other words if your looking for a family friendly chiropractic in the Kelowna area Mission Family Chiropractic is where its at. :)

Here's my experience in brief: I woke up one morning not able to get out of bed. It felt like someone had been standing on my sternum all night and I was having a lot of trouble moving. I had an intense tightening sensation in my chest and breathing was difficult in the mornings. The hospital doctor said it was a rare condition and the cause was unknown, and proscribed painkillers and anti-inflammatories and said I would get better eventually. I'm grateful that he and his staff could confirm that nothing was wrong with my heart and lungs. However I had no answers on a cause, which I sorely wanted given how messed up I was. For three weeks I was recovering slowly in fits and starts with occasional periods of no recovery. I eventually got cramps throughout my back. I discussed seeing a chiropractor with my doctor, who was neutral on the idea, neither for nor against. I decided to try, landed on Mission Family Chiro and made an appointment. They took x-rays on my first visit. A few days later Dr Wood discussed the results, the issue causing the joint irritation, how treatment would work, how long it would take, etc. I had my first adjustment that day. After the first two adjustments the cramps in my back were completely gone. I improved rapidly over the next two weeks. I can now get out of bed easily, drive, tie my shoelaces, etc. Pain in my chest is gone unless I try really hard to strain myself. I believe I would have recovered eventually without treatment. It would have taken much longer and the root cause would have gone unaddressed, and probably worsened over time. From reading peoples accounts with the same condition some people have it for months or even years, and it can recur multiple times, so it's good to be under repair. Anyways I'm happy so far. Staff is efficient and very friendly. I hope this review will be helpful for someone.

I do however feel that I was slightly mislead/unclear with the payment plan, mind you I should have done my full due diligence prior. Dr. Tim's approach is different from any chiropractor I had seen in the past and our kids had never been adjusted before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but so far the results speak for themselves. I started coming here because I really wanted to take initiative in my health. I have suffered from headaches and neck pain for years, treating my pain with pain killers, muscle relaxants, heat, and any kind of "self-treatment"; including even cracking my own neck :| - all of which would just give me temporary relief to issues I thought I would just "live" with for the rest of my life. I have also tried other forms of treatment including IMS - which seemed to be helping for the short term, but nothing ever "completely" ridded me of my nasty headaches, neck tension and joint pain for more then a few days. A year ago our family sought to find quality Chiropractic care. Reasons for this included neck pain (for both our children and me), headaches for our youngest child an hip pain for myself. We attended Dr. Tim's educational meeting and made the commitment to pursue scheduled treatment for our ailments. Having said that what came along with the new form of care for us was remarkable. Having suffered for over 10 years with sinusitis, allergies and other immune issues I can with utter confidence tell you these symptoms and ailments have all but ended and my overall health has made a dramatic improvement. Our children as well could never beat a cold or flu without these mild illnesses turning into much worse with ear infections, tonsillitis, scarlet fever, allergies, rashes and croup. I had suffered from chronic sciatic pain for some time and had just tolerated it until it became so acute one day I knew I had to do something. I saw an add for Mission Chiropractic and decided to check out their website to see if what they offered would be something that I could benefit from. I liked what I read and called to make an appointment for a consultation. I am so glad I did. The consultation itself was really informative, but I especially was impressed with the Information session where Dr. Wood gives a very detailed talk on spinal health. He covers the normal anatomy as well as the altered and what effect it has on overall health. Following that, he had a one on one session where he discussed my x-rays and treatment plan. I knew I had problems with my spine and was not surprised to see how bad it actually was considering the pain I was experiencing. My first question to him was, "Can this be fixed?" He went over everything with me and assured me that he could help me. I started the treatments that evening and gradually the pain has subsided and I continue to improve with each treatment. My posture has improved, I feel more energetic and I sleep much better and am more rested than I have been in years. I had thought that aside from the sciatic pain, all the other aches and pains I had were just part of the aging process and this was something that I would just have to get used to. I’ve suffered from acute neck and shoulder pains since November 2015. At the time, I saw other health professionals but got no lasting results. I was given the advice that “I should learn to live with this pain from now on”. It was very discouraging. I started to get chiropractic care with Dr. Wood in late June 2016. Not recommended. He will not adjust unless you do an ex-ray and sit through a 1 hour group presentation. Then with your new found knowledge of chiropractic care, which I remind you he taught you, he will then go over your ex-ray results proving your abnormal curve requires thousands of dollars of treatments to correct. He uses clever scare tactics to make you think he is your only option for a solution. In his presentation he says he has options for low income people but does not offer a discount but instead offers a payment plan which incorporates an administration fee!!! Says he's not doing it for the money. Clearly this is not the case. Stay Clear unless you are willing to spend a small fortune. Above all this, the adjustments I did receive offered little or no relief. Afterwards I went to a Registered Massage Therapist and felt significantly better the next day. I believe Chiropractic Treatment is beneficial but I will not return to this practice as I think they are unethical and are scamming people out of their hard earned dollars. Be aware and do your own research. If you had a similar experience please rate. Feedback is the only way we can police local business's and practices. This is sadly just another business with profit as its main priority. "Be the change you want to see in the world"

I am going the other direction, and after visiting a different sports therapy/chiropractic/massage/physico business, received immediate relief. Using heat, massage, light deep tissue treatment, and minor manipulation, my strained back is healing well. Muscle strain was causing the pain, I had over used my back muscles. The long posture program, which may have cost up to 4000.oo is not for me. Also having to wait a week for treatment, and having to sit through a long presentation, after expensive x-rays, I was in a great deal of pain. I needed to wait a week for an appointment with your office, but was seen within hours at the next business. I would not recommend your treatment in the future for a strained back.
