I have been seeing both Barry and his wife for two years now. Barry is an excellent chiropractor, friendly and personable. I have seen several practitioners over the years due to a number of moves and he is the best I have ever been to. He even uses a measuring device before and after each treatment that gives you visual proof of improvement in your physical alignment. I also see see Birgit for shockwave therapy and I can't recommend her and the treatment enough. I have chronic pain in my gluteus and IT band and the shockwave always loosens thing up in two or three treatment. The charge is very affordable especially when it is offered as an add-on to the chiro treatment; it is also covered under your medical insurance. Birgit is a very warm and caring person who is very skilled at what she does.

Can't I give 6 stars? Barry knocks his adjustments out of the park! I’m a painter and have a lot of chronic issues and lots of tension that make adjustments difficult for the average chiropractor. But Barry has the skills to get things into place and keep them there. Nobody beats Barry!

In 2017 I sprained my ankle, and never really gave it the treatment it deserved. It's left me feeling unstable for years now. I recently went to see Dr. Whyte, who took me in on his lunch break, as a desperate new client, out-of-whack form sleeping on a bad mattress and various other things... Not only did he fix up my body in general, he adjusted my foot/heel/ankle alignment and that sprained ankle feels brand new. Two weeks later and still no re-surfacing of the issue, either. He's great. His receptionist is lovely, and I definitely recommend.

The office reached out on Jan 25th and offered me a complimentary visit. Unfortunately, for the time frame given I have already moved on after my not so great initial visit. But I do appreciate the effort and this is a great step showing good business practice! And good move on highlighting the positive part of my initial review in your response. Therefore, I have increased the stars from 1 to 3. What a shame! $95 for a 15 minutes initial visit. I was there 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment and I wasn’t seen by Dr. Whyte till 40 minutes later since some delays caused by a patient ahead of me. Dr. Whyte only gave me 15 minutes of his time and I could feel how he was rushing me out so he could take care of his regular patient who was already waiting. When I asked the receptionist how is the charge justified since I only got 15 minutes out of this visit - she just said “oh! that’s great!” (I was like what the hell) Then she said $50 for reviewing the intake form I filled out online (which Dr. Whyte clearly didn’t review since the first thing he asked me was who referred me which is already asked on the intake form) and $45 for a 30 minutes session (but hey I got 15). I have no problem paying the $95 but it was not worth it; especially, when a successful business like this doesn’t treat their new patients seriously. Despite the experience, Dr. Whyte does have a pair of magic hands! Therefore, this review isn’t against his ability.

I would highly recommend Dr. Barry Whyte. I started visiting him because I had a back injury that had left me nearly immobile and in a lot of pain. The pain was relieved after the first visit and I had full mobility back by the third visit. The treatment also helped with other injuries (leg and neck) that I had been ignoring for too long. It is very important to me that, when seeking medical attention, I find someone who is at the top of their field. I’ve seen other chiropractors before and they don’t compare to the level of skill, expertise, and professionalism that Dr Whyte exhibits.

I found Atlas when I was shopping around for a new pair of prescription orthotics, and was intrigued when my coworker mentioned that at Atlas they are now using a 3D scanner as a part of the orthotic prescription process. I have had multiple pairs of orthotics, but this was the best experience I have ever had. They showed me the results of my scan and discussed the results of my physical assessment with me. I really felt like they cared about me and my needs. My new orthotics are great, and I will certainly be back.

I was overjoyed to find that Dr Whyte uses the Ultralign Sima Adjusting Instrument. I have used this method of adjustment now for almost 10 years because my body can only tolerate very gentle adjustment. With this machine I never react to my necessary treatments. With Dr Whyte's help, the machine detects and corrects mis-alignments with absolutely no discomfort. After the treatment, I feel looser. I was having to travel a long way to find this state of the art new technology and was very pleased to find it is now in Nanaimo.

Atlas chiropractic is easily the best place to go for many reasons. Not only are Dr. Whyte and the other staff members thorough, professional, helpful and friendly with their patients, but you can tell that they love their jobs and making sure you're in the best hands. For example, I recently visited them after a couple years of not seeing them and was still given absolutely amazing customer service. I recieved a $25 discount just to help me out and get the treatment that I definitely needed, when i arrived the receptionist, jackie i believe her name was, greeted me by my name, and as i was waiting, another woman that works there was just leaving for the day and thanked jackie for all she does as she went out the door. Then i went in to the chiro room and Dr. Whyte thoroughly adjusted everything back in to place, while explaining exactly what and why he was doing so. Another nice thing about visiting here is that despite not going there for a very long time, he still remembered things that we have talked about in the past. All in all this is an excellent family chiropractor to visit, they really make you feel important. I give it an 11/10!

I’ve seen dozens of chiropractors over the past 3 decades and Barry Whyte is the best. He doesn’t just do the regular adjustments that most other chiros do, he is way more customized and more personal. I feel results right away and every visit is different, which I appreciate. Way more thorough than I was used to with other chiros. Highly recommend. Also, John, the acupuncturist is top-notch. Incorporating body work into his acupuncture makes the appointment way more impactful. You get acupuncture and massage for the price of one! Go see these guys, they are excellent. I was having trouble with my hip and having a hard time walking. It was gradually getting worse, plus my right foot was turning outward. I took a chance and went to see Barry before a GP. Turned out I had 2 lower vertebrae out. Barry was able to fix it pretty quick and after 3 or 4 visits I am now walking fine, my hip doesn't hurt anymore and my foot has realigned. Even if your back isn't sore, but you have problems with your shoulders, hips, knees, go see Barry first. He does magic!

My lower back was injured in a rugby match about 4 years ago. I had been too many chiropractors with little short term, and no long term relief. My plan was to get a job rigging in the northern Alberta natural gas fields. After realizing the extent of the manual labor involved I realized there was no way I could do it with my back in such rough condition. Other chiropractors I have visited have not been able to adjust me adequately, in my opinion. By far the best chiropractor I have ever been to. I was injured when I was 21 since then was told that my lack of mobility in my left leg was muscle atrophy and other than stretching there wasn't must that could be done. I had seen multiple physiotherapists, chiropractors and doctors with no real improvement. I tweeked my back on new years and needed an adjustment. When the adjustment was made it put me in tears, for the first time in 15 years I was able to move my left leg. With everything that I've been told about my back injury and the treatments that I have had Atlas is by far the best. lol I can now touch my toes! Highly recommend them, give them a try and you'll agree.

Approximately three years ago I took a hard tumble off my bike where I hurt my knee quite badly. My obvious thought was to seek out an orthopedic surgeon and am still on the wait list. The injury has caused a lot of pain, stiffness and crunching in my knee cap. I received some massage therapy that helped with the muscle soreness but the pain and crunching always returned. I finally decided to make and appointment with Dr. Barry Whyte to complete a chiropractic assessment. On my very first visit, he found a few areas of concern - namely the calf area of my injured knee. He made some (what I thought were minor adjustments) and then I heard an audible pop that changed everything. I walked out of his office that day almost skipping! While I still require follow up appointments, I can now literally run up the stairs to his office. I maintain a much higher level of activity and the ache and stiffness have almost vanished. I recently moved to Nanaimo and needed to continue with my chiropractic adjustments. I did a Google search and found Atlas Chiropractic and Dr. Barry Whyte. He has been getting me back into shape, both with Ultralign and manual adjustments. Personally, I prefer to "kick it old school" and get manual adjustments, but if you are someone who is nervous about chiropractic care, then the Ultralign adjustments would be more suitable, as they don't involve the same type of manipulation. My back has been getting better and better over the past few weeks and I would highly recommend Dr. Whyte and his services.

I went in about 2 months ago after hurting my back, in a lot of pain, (at a 9 I would say as far as pain goes) and walked out 20 mins later about 98% better except for a little tenderness which he explained I'd have. Did not have a good experience from the second I walked in. I was told my appointment was booked incorrectly. The lady at the from desk blamed me for the mistake in a very blunt way. The doctor was not much better. He did not have the best bedside manner, was full of himself and made me feel uncomfortable being there for most of the visit. I don't enjoy leaving such bad reviews but based on the other reviews I was very excited to try this place. Disappointed it was such a bad experience.

We have had three generations of my family using Atlas Chiropractic services in the past 6 months. My parents - who both had knee surgery in the past but were still having trouble walking - have both had great success with the Laser Therapy; as have my Son - who suffers from stress fractures and shin splints as well as a sore shoulder and I - who suffers from a 'frozen shoulder'. I was nervous at first about the idea of Laser Therapy when my mother suggested it but my son and I both found that when we did the laser therapy every couple of days for 5 or 6 sessions we had great relief from what has been chronic pain for each of us. I have also seen Dr. Whyte for Chiropractic treatments with good success, such that my eldest daughter is now going to see him. The atmosphere at Atlas is relaxing, friendly and professional. I would recommend them to anyone looking for this kind of treatment.
