I've always had back pain for as long as I could remember and was vaguely diagnosed with 'arthritis' when I was 20. I've been to several doctors in my life time and always been told it's just genetics. My father has Ankylosing spondylitis, and I was being told at 20 that I was doomed by my genetics. I'd tried everything to deal with my pain; muscle relaxants, heavy duty pain killers, physiotherapy, acupuncture, I had even tried chiropractic care years ago but don't remember much long term relief. I've had bone scans, radiology, x-rays, blood tests, E.C.T's and cat scans to try and solve this issue, but everything turned up blank. When my back pain got to the point where I could no longer dress myself, or be conscious at all without it aching, I didn't know what to do. Dr. Kelly not only found out that my posture was out of whack, but that the muscles on one side of my spine where atrophied, while the other were enlarged from over compensation. My back was THAT misaligned. I could never sit up straight because it would send my back into immediate spasms, and any sort of strenuous activity left me drained from having to work through the pain constantly. I wanted long term relief instead of tearing my insides apart with anti inflammatories and Dr. Kelly did just that. After a few months of care not only did I learn how to rebuild the muscles in my back but I could sit up straight and dress myself again! Suddenly I wasn't in pain all the time. A+++ place and doctors. Would highly recommend to anyone suffering from back or joint pain!

I was originally planning to see a different Chriopractor at Family First. However, the Chiro(female) I had originally requested was pretty booked up, there was an opening with Dr.Kelly so I took it as I needed some quick relief asap for my back after a MVA. I'm 24 weeks pregnant so I'd thought I'd feel more comfortable with a lady, I was actually planning to see him (Dr. Kelly) for the initial exam and than see the female Chiro for regular alignments after, but after seeing Dr. Kelly I will never switch! He is truly amazing, and actually cares about his patients. After just two appointments I am already starting to feel some back pain relief. He is a miracle worker, I highly recommend him and will be sending my spouse to him also! ????????

Absolutely awful experience. Came for a Cranialsacral adjustment. The doctor did not stop saying “oh god. Oh no. This is awful. This is the worst I’ve seen. Wow how is this so bad??” The entire adjustment on my 7 month old. Provided no hope, only said awful prognosis’s. Was very rough on him, winding him with every push. Cracked his neck with the fast head snap. I wish any parent would research anywhere else first.

The people at the front desk are very nice and polite but I had to give 1 star because Joelle Johnson is really all about money, she overbooks, makes you wait a long time and see you just for 2 minutes, really does not listen to you, I told her I was too tense to have my neck snapped and I did not want her to do it, yet she insisted saying she knows what she is doing and tried twice on both side of my neck with no popping sounds, this means I went home with even more pain. I phoned in after 2 days to let her know and cancel all my appointments, the receptionist told me Joelle would phone me to check on me. It has been 3 weeks and she never called, I don't think she cares. Save your money or invest them in physio and massages instead.dont go here.

I started going to Dr. Joelle when pregnant as I heard she has a ton of experience with pregnancy and children, & I didn't feel as comfortable with my chiropractor at the time, while I was pregnant. Dr. Joelle had so much knowledge & worked on my son after he was born, I do believe her work helped clear up his reflux issues. Very caring and attentive staff. They oversaw my pregnancy and helped me with general adjustments and self care. Their masseuse is very friendly but may talk a bit too much. As well they did just raise their prices so my insurance usually covers it 100% but for some reason I'm still paying a small fee. It's okay though because their services do deliver for the small after fee after insurance coverage.

After falling off a ladder and finding no relief for my rib pain I took a friends advise to seek chiropractic help. I chose Family First Chiropractic and was paired with Dr. Kelly. On my first appointment I explained to him how apprehensive I was about chiropractic care and he put my mind at ease and answered all the questions I had. I was amazed at how quickly my health and mobility were returning after only a few appointments. I recently suffered a bout influenza that I just could not shake and once again decided to see if Dr. Kelly could help me. I was pleasantly surprised how much the first adjustment cleared my sinuses and my ears had been blocked for over three weeks and they cleared after two adjustments. I was a total skeptic about chiropractic care and am a convert! The staff at Family First are all so caring and friendly and Dr. Kelly is kind, gentle and has time to answer my questions and put my mind at ease. If you can maintain your health without the use of medication that is how I would prefer to have it done - chiropractic is worth trying, and you will quickly realize how much better you are feeling and moving! On Sept 28th/10 I was in a M.V.A and was sent for physio therapy, and was there that I was introduced to Dr.Stephen Kelly. From our first visit, I experienced some pain relief...but I just didnt feel better...months went by and my conditon got worse...the only time I felt better was after an adjustment. Dr. Kelly was asking questions constantly and encouraging me to ask questions of my medical doctor. On April 29th, I had a treatment, but the next day, I passed out at work. I would not let my husband take me to the hospital until I saw Dr. Kelly. I had seen him the day before and had had great relief from the headaches and back pain that I was experiencing. That day however I lost my vision, balance and ability to speak properly. He saw me immediately and when he did, he advised me that I needed to go to the E. R. and told me he would be in touch. I was experinecing cerebral spinal hypotension...big fancy term meaning I had low spinal fluid..caused by a tear in my spinal cord...that to this day, medical specialists have been unable to locate and repair. I spent 17 days in hospital in critical care.. what I remember of that stay the most, is that Dr. Kelly arrived and adjusted me...and that I didnt even ask him to come...he just did... I still have chronic low pressure headaches...and suffer daily ...but the relief I get from Dr. Kelly is what keeps me going. I am a Driver Examiner, constantly climbing on tractor trailers...and without him I know, there is NO way I could continue in my day to day capacity. I have an excellant Neurologist, but after all the medical tests and drugs, nothing has helped...and so I rely on Dr. Kelly to keep me going. I affectionately call him my "other man"!! The staff at the clinic are outgoing and friendly..and I know they fit me in when they hear "that pain" in my voice.. I strongly recommend this clinic...There is just not enough positive's to say about them. Thank you Dr. Kelly and the staff at Family First!! You Rock!

I was really struggling with breast feeding but due to her adjustments and recommendation of getting a lip tie looked at changed everything. My back had always hurt a little and I thought that was normal. This time was different. I couldn’t get out of bed it hurt so much. I went to my doctor and he gave me funny little pills that made my stomach do flip flops and x-rays that revealed nothing. Meanwhile the pain was still unbearably unless I was lying down. I lay in bed and realized that I couldn’t live like this. How was I going to work? Besides, there was still plenty of motorcycling and camping to be done for me. I grabbed a phone book. I will try anything I thought. At 49 years old I had never visited a Chiropractor. In fact, I didn't even believe they worked. I thought they only…wait a minute. I don’t know what they do. Oh well, the company’s medical plan covers it. What have I got to lose? As I sat in the waiting room filling out the questionnaire on my first day I was in so much pain I knew I wouldn’t last long before I needed to lie down. Being upright was very painful. Dr. Kelly saw me right away. We talked and I told him of my problem. He promised me that we would work together until the pain was gone and gave me some advice on stretching. It took 3 days but I was on the mend. I was walking around and back at work in no time. Its been 3 years now working with Dr. Kelly and I am here to say that I feel great and continue to be mostly pain free. Oh sure I have little aches here and there. However if I was to rate my pain on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the first day I walked in his office. I may experience a few 2’s or 3’s per year now. All the positive reviews don’t lie,...Dr Johnson and the team at Family First are absolutely phenomenal. I have been seeing them for going on 15 years now and would not be functional without their help. I have had scoliosis my entire life and have never gotten better care than since I started here. Dr’s Johnson, Kelly, & Clemence are absolutely incredible. Dr Johnson has helped me in so many ways from helping diagnose arthritis from a childhood injury to helping me gain mobility after numerous car accidents and even the simple things like falling on the ice in the winter. It has all helped me to gain mobility I would have lost long before. They are always caring and professional and will always listen, care and do their best to provide the best care in this city. I have seen other chiropractors in other cities and provinces and never felt taken care of like here. They truly feel treat their patients like family and are more than just wanting your money. They truly want to see a person regain their health, be it during regular business or when an emergency arises. You will not be disappointed if you come and see them,..you will be repaired and restored. I have never met a person who has gone there that has not regained their health and felt listened to,..I just can’t praise them enough. Dr. Joelle is an excellent chiropractor. Unlike many chiropractors, her treatment is not painful, and the positive effects can be felt immediately. Before seeing her I had very severe back and neck pain and now no longer take painkillers at all. Unfortunately, if you don't have insurance, $50 for a 5-minute adjustment gets expensive quickly. It's worth it because I've seen many chiropractors and she's the best; I just wish I could afford to go more often.

I had begun seeing Dr Joelle mid-pregnancy as I was experiencing extreme discomfort in my lower back, hips and wrists. Her adjustments left me feeling much better both physically and mentally, she was always so comforting to me and always concerned with how I was doing emotionally. She was an amazing source of knowledge and advice to me, for example I was having a difficult time gaining weight due to nausea and vomiting which I experienced everyday. Dr Joelle had several nutrient and dietary suggestions which I incorporated into my daily diet. When my baby was determined breech she suggested some positions which would turn baby’s head down which worked within weeks. Dr Joelle was wonderful at involving dad when I visited her for an adjustment after labor had begun, she was quick to show him some very useful and effective techniques which he could do that would permit me some much needed pain relief. Our daughter was born face up, head turned to the side, with one arm extended out in front of her, and had been stuck in the birth canal for quite some time; for the first week she was very, very fussy and we battled with nursing each time she had to eat, and sleep came very rarely for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. After Mya’s first adjustment at 1.5 weeks, Dr Joelle informed us that there was some serious issues in her upper back, neck and shoulder; when we returned home from our first adjustment Mya slept for three whole hours flat on her back! She was far more content during feeds and diaper changes and has been sleeping much more soundly since going for her regular adjustments. Dr Joelle was an amazing source of advice both during pregnancy and post-partum, I spoke with her about my low milk supply and she had several suggestions for me to try which quickly boosted my supply. Both Dr Joelle, and her staff have been wonderful to myself and my family and I would highly recommend her to mothers whose infants are fussy, and are feeding and/or sleeping poorly and anyone interested in achieving greater health.

Great team at family first! When I had my daughter in feb this year we noticed she seemed to favor her right side and was very fussy. She didnt seem to be happy no matter how she was held and the the sling we had she didnt enjoy either.We took her to see dr. Joelle and what a difference! She is a much happier baby, and I'm a happier mama! Dr joelle was able to assess and adjust and prided exercises for us to do. She was even able to help us out with her tongue tie. Her expertise and attention to detail is phenomenal. She provided us with education and understood and listen to our concerns. I highly recommend going and getting your baby assessed! I had started to go to this Chiropractor since I was in the second grade. My mom brought me to see Dr. Joelle Johnson as that was the women she trusted to crack her neck. When I would complain about my back, and she herself if she could feel a migraine coming on we would book an appointment or set up for a time schedule as the Dr. would recommend. Not only was Dr. Joelle, so kind and considerate when it came to our wellness and adjustments. As the years past and we continued to see her personally, she had began to follow her passion with bringing wellness to pregnant women, and their young children. She gave us a recommendation to see Dr. Stephen Kelly. With that I felt safe in the same environment, while still an adjustment had to be made. P.S. These Dr.'s are very good at what they do in my personally opinion and they really helped me feel comfortable with my bones. P.P.S. I would travel from Edmonton to see them again, and would recommend to any of my friends or family, as I do believe my mother still goes there time to time. P.P.P.S. Right beside is Babycakes Cupcakery, cakes for yourself and your puppies! Deep dish pizza if you need a meal, or Centex if you vehicle is needing some fuel.

Worst chiropractor experience ever. If i had the option of -5 stars it would be more on par. Took my wife to doctor elliot due to knee pain. She came out of her appointment with the knee problem not fixed. Not only did her knee still hurt now she has neck and back pain. He was only interested in long term appointments . Receptionist service was very poor to. Had her waiting while they chatted away about their personnel life. I will be going back to dr David Osiowy in calgary again. Always get problems taken care of and unbeatable service.

This clinic takes the time to work with you on your needs and also leaves you feeling awesome with everything put back in place from c1 to your distal phalanges and everything in-between you didn't know was out of place .
