I had sever back problem known as sciatic and sacroiliac joint dysfunction caused by multilevel degenerative changes of the lumbar spine at L5-S1, L4-L5 and L3-4. In the last three months I was hardly able to move due to pain I suffered from my entire right leg and hip. I tried two months of therapeutic massage, acupunctures, physiotherapy, many other treatments, nothing worked. Finally with huge hesitation and skeptic I went to see Dr. Prii - a Gonstead Chiropractor. After 12 treatments, I felt much better, able to walk without pain and start to live a normal life. He is excellent and completely changed my view on Chiropractic.

I specifically searched for a gonstead chiropractor and Dr.Prii’s office popped up, a bit of a drive from my location but well worth it. Despite being fit and healthy I have occasionally suffered from bouts of neck and back pain over the last 20 years - usually brought on by sleeping badly, sports injury, or stress. Last summer the pain was debilitating and culminated in a frozen neck, and an excruciatingly tingly pain that went down to my fingertips, and the backs of my legs. No amount of sports massage made any difference, until I went to see Dr. Prii... He clicked me back into shape, banished the pain, and gave me excellent advice on how to prevent the problem from flaring up in the future. I definitely recommend this doctor. I am seeing this doctor and I see the changes, which has not happened with other chiropractor. I think that him using the x-ray to see how the spine looks like is very helpful and you don't need to go to the hospital, which will take a long time for results to come. In addition, his instructions on a good positions for exercising, sleeping, and sitting are very clear that my back and neck problems are healing well, along with his treatment.

Be careful of extra fees! The chiropractic treatment was ok, but they insisted on xrays without fully informing me regarding payment. They routinely insist on xrays on the spot, most of us as new patients are unaware that xrays are not covered under most health plans. After all this time, they fully know that most health plans do not cover xrays onsite, as xrays are covered under BC Health and readily available from your local GP or clinic. Any dental or health office, doing honest business, is able to find out quickly (online) and tell me prior to services, what is covered. It's not about the $$, it's about their processes and not fully informing patients.

I went to Dr Prii for a few months because my neck was hurting me more and more. I spend a lot of time at the computer. He seemed knowledgeable and professional; he diagnosed my problem, when I requested it he suggested a few exercises to do at home, and told me to see him several times a week (at first), gradually dwindling down to once every two weeks. At each visit my symptoms would improve, but within a few days they returned. I asked Prii if there was something else I could be doing, and he replied I should just book an office visit if I were in pain. I concluded that this was to be my fate; life spent at the chiro’s office. Then I moved and had to find a new chiropractor. She used several techniques, not just the spinal manipulation that Prii used. She suggested new, different exercises to do at home, and within three visits my neck was quite a bit better. Some chiropractors will tell you that vertebrae getting out of alignment is the root problem. The vertebrae put muscles under stress, which then cramp and cause pain. So the chiropractor deals with the vertebrae, not the muscles, and this -- in my untutored opinion -- is a limited strategy. If treating the muscles can prevent their pulling the bones out of alignment after you leave the chiro’s office, this can accelerate recovery times . My experience seems to confirm this suggestion. Now it is possible – to be fair – that Dr Prii’s treatment was just starting to get results, and that the new chiro just had good timing -- treating a problem that was beginning to get better anyway. But I doubt it. When I switched chiros, my neck felt only slightly better than it had felt when I first went to Dr Prii. But after three visits to the new chiro I felt much better. I don’t (yet) feel fully recovered, mind you; it will take more exercise, and continued attention to good posture (something Dr. Prii never mentioned). What’s the takeaway for others? In hindsight I would have tried a second chiropractor earlier in the process, to compare treatments and results, and then I would have chosen the more suitable chiro to go with. Prii’s approach doubtless works well for some, to judge from the comments, but not for me. For each problem its own chiropractor!!

Dr Mark Prii is the 10th Chiropractor I have seen over the many years I’ve dealt with back and neck pain from a combination of office work, scoliosis, and a sedentary lifestyle. He found and corrected what many before him couldn’t fix with consistently reproducible results. The Gonstead Technique that Dr Prii uses has been the most consistent and given me the best long-term results. X-rays are pricey but would you trust a Chiropractor who didn't analyse your spine properly before cracking your back? Staff and Dr Prii are very personable too! Signs that I've noticed that are telltale signs of an effective Chiropractic office: Long list of referrals, fast turnover, good wait times/booking. This means their patients are getting fixed and don't have to repeatedly come back again and again.

I was in a horrendous contortion of the complete vertebrae from neck to sacrum with nerve and soft tissue scars. I saw the video Dr. Ian Rossborough in Australia. He is a master instructor and smart doctor and was hoping Dr. Prii can do similar help but not even close to Dr. Ian even though Dr. Prii has been practicing for 30 years. I work in the medical field and know a good doctor when I see one. He is ok, but not that great. Dr. Prii charged me for another x-ray even thought I had a recent one and the first visit cost nearly $200. I am on disability with Medical Service Plan and have no job or family support in any way. I now paid another $300 with no results to another medical practitioner. Dr. Prii does the same adjustment time and time again and the anterior of my neck has been pushed out way to far and Dr. Prii does not do do a forceful thrust push on the sternum. Only does adjustment on the posterior of the spine. He suggested I go to Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, the school of Gonstead. I would like to add, I spoke to another patient out in the parking lot after my appointment and he said that Dr. Prii does nothing really for him with the lower vertebrae even though he has been coming to Dr. Prii for years. Please ask what you should expect and if you know your own body and know what you have had already done and what you need. Mention this before you make the appointment in-person. You need to advocate for yourself for doctors will take all the money you have and strip you dry.

I had a compound injury for three + years which at one point was so bad I couldn't walk without my back being bent over to compensate for the pinching of the nerves going down my right leg. The doctors didn't want to operate on my spine due to my age, and so I was left with constant minor pain down my right leg. I had almost given up until I coincidentally found information on Gonstead Chiropractice (the gold-standard of chiro as Dr.Prii put it). After seeing Dr. Prii and frequenting his practice, the pain down my right leg is gone and I am able to walk without any irritation. In my situation, he adjusts once or twice per session, based on inflammation (I'm guessing) along the spine. There seems to be science behind what he is doing, and that makes me sleep well at night. I would highly recommend this doctor to anyone.

I am one of the clients that stopped going because it just did not work out. I had high expectations for gonstead method, but Dr. Prii just did not convince me compared to other chiropractic treatment I had over past 12 years. Taking an x-ray was a waste of money to be honest and it felt too much hassle trying to figure out direct billing on my first visit... very nice people, but it just wasn't worth my time and travel to experience something below expectation.

When I first came to the office, I have suffered from lower back pain and soreness due to sitting in front of a computer all the time and incorrect posture when lifting heavy boxes. I had a very horrible pain in my lower back which went into my right leg and made it very difficult to walk. I made an appointment to see Dr. Prii and it turned out to be the best move I could have ever made. His secretary was very kind and in no time I felt very relaxed as I had been a bit nervous about seeing a chiropractor. I have going to Dr. Prii for 3 years now. i was in a bad car accident and did a year of physio and it never really helped. by the time i was pregnant i was unable to hardly walk without being in tears! i gained alot of weight from the car accident before i got pregnant because of not being able to move. needless to say life wasn't looking up for me. my GP told me to just take pills for the pain but i didn't want it to effect my baby. i called Dr.Prii and he was able to fit me in right away. since then i have continued to go see him and am now able to go to the gym and am in a much better mind frame. because i am able to live pain free from my car accident injuries i have now lost 75 pounds! and i attribute that to Dr. Prii being supportive and fixing my back neck and shoulder. if i wait too long i am in pain then i have to go in. i am able to live my life and pick my kids up and continue my weight training now because of Dr. Prii and his staff. i cant express my thanks enough to him for giving me my life back! i highly suggest you go see him and his team he listens to your concerns and takes care to make sure he pays attention to details. trust me being able to do all the things you want in life because you are not in pain is worth everything.

I walk in with pain, and I come out without any. Dr. Prii is amazing, and is always available to take me in whenever I need it. I am a competitive athlete who is frequently sore or injured, and he fixes anything I need him to with care and precision. I switched to him because my old chiropractor had me waiting sometimes 3 weeks for a 10 minute appointment. They always have available spots for me, and they work around my schedule. Also, the receptionists there are sweet and helpful. 10/10 would recommend.

After watching videos about Gonstead chiropracty, I came across Dr. Prii' s practice in a Google search. Although he was out in Surrey, quite a ways from where I live, I decided to give him a try. He has been able to help with a longstanding problem, enough so that I continue to make a monthly trek out to see him. However, I didn't become a true believer until he addressed my torticollis in two sessions. I had had this condition once before and it took over a year of seeing very experienced physiotherapists, massage therapists, a bone specialist, acupuncturist, and other types of chiropractors to get me to where I was after the second session with Dr. Prii. Very effective and efficient, he is one of the best health care practitioners I have come across and the three-hour round trips are worth it.

Dr. Prii helped my husband when no one else could, he would walk with a cane because of the pain he had in his back and was unable to sit at all. Since seeing Dr. Prii he has improved so much and he doesn’t need the cane anymore! I did not find the treatment helpful at all. I went in for pain related to a pinched nerve in my upper spine which was causing severe pain in my upper right back and causing numbness in my right arm. I went in for about 4-5 sessions. The doctor tried to relieve pressure in my spine in my upper mid back and in my neck. He was able to "crack" my upper spine in most sessions, but was not able to "crack" my neck, even though he claimed to have done so (which is a good thing in retrospect). What allowed me to heal was going to a medical doctor and getting advanced x-rays which showed bone spurs. After a few months the inflammation of the nerves in question subsided by doing the follow: relieving pressure on the spinal column in my neck by wearing a neck brace and strengthening my upper back muscles through a variety of physio exercises.

I had a terrible fall in last winter and could barely move. Every single movement was painful. I was sent to the emergency and was told the bone was not broken and there was nothing they could do at that momment. I love this place! Going here is one of the best decisions I ever made! I’ve seen so much progress in only 2 weeks! I just kept telling to my friends and colleges about it. For 2 years I was in and out of doctors’ offices for an array of issues: back pain, knee pain, neck pain.
