I have osteo-arthritis in my lower back and went to the Alberta Back and Neck Rehab clinic in Calgary to see if I could strengthen the support muscles of my core. I went in hope that the Med X machine would isolate those muscles and hopefully rebuild the strength in my core. I must say that the machine (though it's very hard work!), was extremely useful in doing just that. My strength has increased considerably and I do feel a lot better. Many thanks!

I compressed a disk in my lower back when I was 18. I went to many chiropractors, they we're not able to fix anything long term. After over 8 years of struggling with it. I decided to try Alberta Back and Neck Rehab. My first visit was with Dr. Oliphant, he had me get X-Rays and diagnosed my issue further. He then came up with a plan to help fix my back permanently. I have since went back many times as part of the program. The staff and service at Alberta Back and Neck Rehab is second to none. I highly recommend going to see Dr. Oliphant for any back or neck issue you may have.

I came to the clinic with a lot pain in my groin, waste and upper leg, that left me unable to walk normal and not very far without excruciating pain. The Xray showed a disk problem that Dr Oliphant said they could help with. The treatment plan is not cheap, but in my case it was helping and worth it. After 5 treatments I stopped with the medication for the pain. in my second week of treatment I am once again getting my life back and see a light at the end of the tunnel. My treatment is not over yet, but so far so good and will finish it until I am completely healed. The Staff at the office are very nice and accommodating. Appointments are usually running right on time. Give it a try if you have back problems, best thing you can do for yourself.

The One Stop Shop The staff welcomes me by name and greets me with a friendly smile making it a much more personable experience. They are punctual, professional, and accountable. This makes for a great experience right when you walk in the door. After several years of undergoing a variety of treatments from dry needling, acupuncture, cupping, tens machine, physio, chiro, massage, and exercise I became frustrated with the pain I still endure daily. Through a friends referral I decided to look into laser therapy treatment. After researching many different locations I found The Alberta Back & Neck rehab was the place to be. I met with Dr. Brian Reive and told him about my neck, shoulder, lower back, and knee problem. He is very knowledgeable and suggested shockwave therapy over laser therapy for my shoulder as in his experience seen greater end results. He is also currently working active release on my knee and was the first doctor in a year to send me for x-rays & ultra sound. I really appreciate all that he has done for me and feel we are making great progress. Regarding my lower back weakness he has explained the importance to me of Muscle Isolation. I am looking forward to starting my MedX back rehab program to build up the strength in my lower back. He also provided me with some great neck exercises to do at home and make smooth and comfortable adjustments that have helped me tremendously. This clinic really knows how to deal with chronic pain. The doctor I've met here is Dr. Reve, friendly easygoing professional, who evaluates patient's situation carefully and will make quick adjustment based on my result after each treatment so I can recover sooner. I refused to wait that long with massive pain, so I researched alternate therapy and found Dr. Reive. He gave me 3 options for my back and I chose the decompression therapy. I never really write reviews but this one is worth doing it. I have been suffering with low back pain for about 8 months, I have been to various Chiropractor, physiotherapists and massage therapists to try and get some alleviation. None of them really helped, they would just take some pain away temporarily (a day or 2) but I was never pain free, until I came here. Dr. Oliphant put me on the MedX machine to strengthen my lower back, 5 minutes twice a week for 2 months and my pain is reduced by about 90%, it was such a relieve. Now there's a couple of things I am not so fond of in the clinic, first they are quite pricey for a chiropractic clinic and second they are not too flexible with their cancellation policy they have your credit card on file so if you don't cancel 24 hours before they instantly charge you, I mean personally I would be flexible if this is a customer that is going to your clinic twice a week. Apart from that I am happy with the results, and for me the price is worth being pain free. Great job overall.

This is a strange and I would go so far as to say fraudulent policy with this particular clinic. It begs the question where does the dishonesty end? False claims, over billing insurance, friends over paying for services, improper diagnosis? Found this business to be dishonest.

She sold me on the clinic when she mentioned that Dr. Oliphant uses the latest technologies and evidence-based treatments. I took the time to read about PrimusRS and how it could help me with my golf swing in the off season on Alberta Back and neck rehabs website. And by golf swing I don't mean hitting the ball straight by any means, but more so hitting the ball harder. You can train in the gym all you want with dumbbells and kettle bells etc but you're not really using the muscles that are needed when you make contact with a golf ball. Dr. Drew was really good at explaining how the primusRS machine would help me and with just a few short sessions on the machine I'm already noticing a huge difference in my swing. Best part about this machine is he can set it up for any sport that you want to get better at. Hockey, baseball, softball, golf...anything?! I follow this up by an awesome massage in his high tech Hydromassage table. Get a great workout then a massage after, who would've ever thought a Chiropractor could do all that?? Awesome staff, clean new building and homemade cookies too! Go try them out...what are you waiting for?!

All the staff are great and very pleasant to work with. You feel like part of a family and right at home here after your first visit. Chronic back pain. After years of suffering from chronic back pain and surgery, I have had major problems with my back. After searching the web for help I finally saw the ad on TV. Instantly called and set up an appointment. I was getting shooting pain in the top part of my leg and my Medical doctor told me I needed a hip replacement. I went into see Dr Drew Oiliphant. First thing he said was I needed an MRI before he would touch me. Got that done and within a week I got the MRI and was set up with appointments to have Decompression done on my back. After the first 3 treatments the pain in my leg was gone and I was starting to feel better in my back area. After 20 decompression treatments I was able to get back out and walk again without the pain in my back. Thank you so much for all the help and making my life a better place to be in. I have suffered for a year with lower back issues. I tried physiotherapy and massage as well as home remedies. Eventually my doctor prescribed muscle relaxants and pain medication. It got to be so painful that I was unable to stand for any longer than 10 minutes. I was losing hope until I went to Alberta Back and Neck Rehab. After two sessions the pain started to subside. I've now had 4 sessions and my pain has gone from a 7 to a 3. The staff is friendly and prompt. And Dr. Reive is very thorough and explains every procedure. This clinic offers free treatments if you leave them a positive review. So here's an unsolicited review. If you have back pain and are thinking of spending your $$$ here it's worth a read. Update: Dr Oliphant sent his lawyer after me for leaving negative reviews, citing a clause in the intake form that takes away a patients right to make online statements. Basically they can filter what kind of reviews they want. Pay attention to the intake form! I went in asking for the MedX treatments based on a recommendation from a relative and the clinics YouTube video that explains how the MedX is the way to go since it heals and strengthens at the same time. Drew Oliphant told me that I can't handle the MedX and instead explained how the much more expensive DRX treatments would heal my disc. He had a good sales pitch for this machine and he seemed very confident that it would work for me. He said I needed 20 treatments that cost $200 each. I explained that I am functional with my injury and have an active job and so on so the Medx wouldn't be an issue but Drew insisted that I won't be able to handle it, he said there is no point in trying the MedX now, first we must heal the disc by doing the DRX treatments. He said they are about 95% successful, that number later went down to 80% when I questioned its effectiveness half way through my treatments. Drew said most people start to notice an improvement after 10 treatments. After 10 treatments I was feeling worse and was taking more pain meds for my back than I had taken before. To me it was clear that this DRX treatment plan wasn't working, but Drew wanted to keep going. I gave it 2 more sessions before I finally gave up on it. It was clearly making my problem worse. I was having shooting pain down my legs and felt much more fragile than before, even while taking Celebrex and Robax. The other Chiropractor in this clinic, Brian Reive, reluctantly mentioned that if positive results aren't showing beyond 10-15 treatments the chances of it working after that are slim. Drew on the other hand was happy to see me go for the full 20 sessions, even as I was complaining about how I'm suffering, he still insisted it was working while ignoring my pain, contradicting himself when he said "I'm not interested in making you feel worse" and contradicting his fellow Chiropractor that told me the chances of it working after this point go down drastically. He certainly came off as a money first and health care later type of Doctor, while Brian Reive was the opposite and seemed to be actually concerned with how I was doing. I ended up spending over $2,000 before we realized it wasn't working, so I asked what now?! They suggested I try the MedX and see how I feel. I tried it 3 times and it felt like it was helping. I knew from the start that my back needed to be strengthened. Drew would rather you try his more expensive treatments first I suppose. (The MedX treatments are $70/ visit vs $200/visit for the DRX). Seeing how the DRX was a very expensive pain in the back for me, I tried to suggest that I at least get a MedX treatment on them. I should mention the MedX treatments are 3 minutes in a machine! It's also worth noting again that they offer free treatments for positive reviews, but somehow he couldn't find it in him to even offer anything to a patient having a very negative experience there. I'm sure the DRX has worked for others, I'm writing this because of how I was treated by Drew. I found him to be a greedy health care "professional" who was more interested in my wallet rather than my health, and he wasn't subtle about it either. Especially considering how he replied to my concerns with his bully lawyer tactics instead of engaging with a patient/customer. Not the level of professionalism I expected from such an expensive clinic. I have since found out that there are other clinics that have the same services for much less (as much as $1,400 less) as well as free consultations. Shop around and avoid Dr. Oliphant.

I wanted to see if Dr. Travis could help me and offer another perspective on my mental health related symptoms and issues. This is a call you don't need a Drs referral. After trying everything I was tired of drs just treating my symptoms and getting no pain relief, 24/7 back pain, leg pain body aches. My last call was this wonderful place. Dr reive, DC. checked me from head to toe to see what my problem was before deciding on the treatment/rehab he would do. In approx2.5 months 2x a week my pain has gone from 10-2. I have also included massage therapy with Vicki. I am also interested in other Drs that are there for Chinese medicine and naturalpathic. They can almost in some way treat you for multipule problems ect we deal with in life. I DONT REGRET $1.00 of it. ( I make min wage). Lol. Highly recommended. JUST MAKE THE CALL.

Being middle aged, other than a couple of broken bones, sprains and severely pulled muscles, I have never really experienced constant debilitating pain. Three months ago, I ended up in the ER with unbearable waves of pain shooting down my leg, across my foot and into my toes. Diagnosed with sciatica pain due to a back injury, the pain killers were not relieving the pain (I was exceeding the daily intake by 4 times) and getting little guidance from a family doctor. Previously I have never had a chiropractic, acupuncture or even a massage treatment so you can imagine my hesitation but desperation due to the pain. Based on a referral and feeling that a specialized chiropractic clinic in back injuries was needed, I started treatment with Dr. Brian Reive. He diagnosed the injury based on my descriptions, an x-ray, visual indications and years of specialized experience. After five initial treatments with little improvement, spinal decompression was started. Within a couple of DRX 9000 sessions, there was noticeable reduction in pain. I was still taking large quantities of pain killers and getting very little sleep so I also started acupuncture with Dr. Danielle Baert. During the acupuncture sessions, I felt immediate relief from the pain. With continued treatments of both decompressions and acupuncture, slowly the pain in my leg and foot reduced to a minor discomfort allowing me to stop taking pain killers and sleep through the night. Once the pain was under control, massage treatments were also required to help loosen the other muscles which were overcompensating due to the back injury and sciatica pain. I am hopeful to make near 100% recovery and believe that the decompression and acupuncture treatments were instrumental in this. Although the process for recovery was expensive, for me the goal was to be pain free and regain my lifestyle. The staff were very helpful and friendly, showing concern in achieving a recovery for me.

There is an involved system in place upon arrival that allows practitioners to throughly understand your symptoms and their severity, and reception seems to move this process through its channels in a consistant way (if they seem curt, it is only because they want to ensure the procedures are followed efficiently and the practioners have a thorough understanding of what you are dealing with). I was/am dealing with an achilles injury and ABNR was highly recommended to me by my Doctor.The practitioner (Dr. Drew Oliphant) at ABNR was extremely knowledgeable, making sure that I understood the nature of my injury, why it likely existed and what the best course of action would be as far as treatment was concerned. I went with Shock Wave Therapy and Dr. Oliphant thoroughly explained how this particular therapy worked and woud help my injury. He also braced me for the level of discomfort I might feel while being treated and roughly how many treatments I might need. As far as comunication between Dr. and patient goes, I don't think I could have asked for a better experience. Be aware: the treatment (at least mine) was not cheap! But I believe the adage: "you get what you pay for...". I have seen remakable improvment in my condition after only 3 visits and am well on my way to recovering from my injury thanks to my care at ABNR. If I could recommend anything, perhaps a courtesy email/call from reception 2 days prior to appointments would be appropriate since their 24 hour cancellation/appointment change policy is so strict and visits are up there in price. My overall impression of ABNR is that it is a clinic that aggressively looks to relieve symtoms of an injury while giving you the therapy and tools/info you need to avoid reinjury. From my stand point, their treatment of my injury was very effective.

In late July, I hurt my back waterskiing. I thought it would work itself out as it has in the past, however, 8 weeks later I was still in a lot of pain and couldn't walk or stand for more than just a couple of minutes. I saw a G.P, a Physical Therapist, and another Chiropractor over those 8 weeks and the improvement was marginal. At this point I'm ready to try anything, but then I heard about Dr. Oliphant and spinal decompression therapy. I booked an appointment to see what this was all about and decided to try it. After just three Spinal Decompression treatments, the difference was remarkable. I have since completed 10 treatments and am almost back to 100%. I highly recommend this clinic, my only regret is that I didn't find them sooner.

The office is very nice and the ladies who work up front are kind and friendly. However the doctors could spend some time gaining a better understanding of what it means to be a partner in health. To be a partner means to help that person achieve their best. This clinic and these doctors did not do that for us. They pushed excessively expensive treatments that weren’t working and when we finally left from frustration and found a successful far less expensive treatment, they never even called to check up on us to see how we were. I would proceed with caution if you choose to use this clinic.

I have been going to this clinic for 10+ years. Both Dr Oliphant and Dr Reeve are excellent and they have equipment that does way more than just an adjustment. I have done the DRX 9000 machine for both my back and neck and have been virtually almost pain free since. It might cost a bit but it is cheaper than an all inclusive for a week in Mexico. I have had heel pain starting that was nipped in the bud and has never bothered me since. Don't settle for invasive spinal surgery before you see these doctors, I can't say enough good about them.

I had a shoulder that began to have sharp pain when I would move certain ways. It was affecting everything I tried to do. Also, I have developed frozen shoulder where I can't do anything above shoulder height. I started shock wave therapy treatments at Alberta Back and Neck Rehab and Sports Injuries Clinic. It takes a few but my shoulder is definitely having less pain. Dr. Oliphant is very personable and has offered lots of little tips and encouragement and is optimistic of full recovery over time.

The best part about it was he charged me 50 bucks to tell me to get a mri. The only doctor who is more concerned with his bottom dollar than your health. I wont be coming back

After car accident, Dr.O got relief from lengthy back pain/sciatica w/ decompression & brought the equipment to his clinic. You should see their high-tech rehab equipment! Dr.O & Dr. Brian Reive (fantastic sense of humour!) have treated me since 2008 w/ general chiro adjustments, neck strengthening (Multi-Cervical Unit [MCU]), spinal decompression (DRX 9000)–mainly for old whiplash. Plus 2 rotator cuff injuries (low-laser + shockwave therapy) & several prs of orthotics. Also at ABNR: prolotherapy, Naturopathic Doctor, massage therapy. Rarely do I post reviews but in this case I will make an exception. A few years ago I ended up getting severe back pain. It developed quickly and severely to the point I was not able to get up. I went to doctors who recommended surgery, other chiropractors that just wanted to straighten my back, acupuncture, physio and more. After going from place to place I ended up calling AB Back and Neck. In the preliminary meeting with Dr. Oliphant, he asked the right questions and seemed to better understand the issue. I asked me to get an MRI (which I did as no one else has asked me to) and he immediately found the issue. My case was significant and required treatment on their spinal decompression machine and required back strengthening. Although it was a lot of work, within a couple of months, my condition improved by 85%. Now I have my life back. I was frustrated with all the other people I bounced from and to but at least I found someone knowledgeable and competent enough to help. Since them I tore the ligaments in my ankle after a fall in the mountains. Again no one could help however Dr. Oliphant was able to fix my ankle quickly. I would highly recommend this this team to others anytime and I am grateful for having them around.

Other doctors had told me "you are young, the injury will heal." but when back pain started reoccurring Alberta Back and Neck took an all encompassing approach to helping me feel better long term. The consultation visit explained why the pain was most likely reoccurring and detailed what other damage may have occurred as a result of my injury. Dr.Oliphant clearly explained what else might have been affected that my family doctor, hospital, and another specialist had never discussed and had never checked. He also helped to give me a recovery plan. It was the first time I was given general guidelines of when we might see the treatment was working, alternatives, and statistics of how it could help me. I had compression fractured my L2 vertebrae was all that I was told 4 years ago, That it would take 3 weeks to heal, and might need some physio but otherwise I would be fine... When I was injured I kept complaining about my tail bone, and through the recommended MRI we discovered I had a disc herniation there, abut more importantly THREE more near the L2 vertebrae. That injury was one that would not heal on it own, but with treatment we could see how effective it was on each herniation. its been healing and results should not require maintenance. The tail bone pain is completely gone. I can sit and watch a movie again! I am very grateful to the friend that referred me here and tell everyone to at least go for a consult! Alberta Back and Neck has extensive knowledge and experience compared to others I had seen.

They charged me the full 149 for cancellation and refuse to refund half saying you have to pay full consultation fee. Dr Brian Reive reviewed my case and suggested that I have scar tissue built up since my injury years ago and started shock wave therapy on my hip. I had lower back pain for years and a colleague at work mentioned Dr. Drew Oliphant at the ALBERTA Back and Neck Rehab. I was not sure what to expect. At my first appointment after the prelim assessment Dr. Drew strapped me into a Med X machine and I lifted some weight with just my lower back muscles, this felt strange at first but after about 5 sessions on the Med X machine my lower back pain was gone. My back was still weak But the pain was gone! I have continued with monthly appointments on the Med X machine to strengthen my back and I am now lifting 235 LBS for 2 minutes. I am starting my 3rd year without Lower Back Pain and could not be happier, thanks to my colleague at work for pointing me to ALBERTA Back and Neck Rehab and Dr. Drew Oliphant for guiding me through a process to safely strengthen my back. I went to Alberta Back and Neck Rehab when I started to notice a slight irritation in my lower back from the gym. After a few adjustments, I was feeling much better and decided to do some MedX treatments to work on strengthening my lower back. The MedX machine was able to help isolate my lower back much better than anything I could do at the gym. I have yet to do my final MedX exam, but I feel that there will be great improvement. My back is no longer giving me any trouble after my visits to the clinic. I also went to Alberta Back and Neck Rehab to take care of my knee after I had a minor downhill biking crash. The doctor suggested I do Cold Laser Therapy and it helped my knee heal much faster than it would have on its own. Both of the doctors are very knowledgeable and seem to genuinely care about any questions or concerns I may have. The front staff are always friendly and seem to take the time to get to know each patient. They have always tried to accommodate my schedule when booking appointments. I will definitely go back if I have any issues with pain in my future.

Saw their TV advertisement on shock wave therapy so booked appointment with them. After 3 treatments noticed tremendous good results.
