Nice little cafe just a short walk off the main street. The menu has something for everyone, which is great for those with special dietary requirements. I ordered the Thorburger. It was good, but if you are used to big greasy sloppy burgers it may not be for you. Parking was scarce nearby, so you may need to walk a block or so. Staff was friendly and very attentive.

I got the Cubano sandwich and my wife got the fallafal wrap. It wasn't anything to cry home over. Our server was good and patient, but it took almost 45 minutes to get the food after order. The place was not packed either.

The food at the Shanty is delicious, and one of the healthiest options in Yarmouth. In a small municipality, it's often hard to find variety in menus - and even harder to find items like Cuban croquetas or veggie samosas prepared well. This has always been the case when we've dined at the café. When you dine there, you are supporting community enterprise. Their parent company is the Yarmouth Association for Community Residential Options (YACRO) which provides meaningful employment to individuals who face barriers in the job market. YACRO should be very proud of the Shanty, as they use this mandate to run a very professional restaurant which brings a variety of ethnic and organic menu items to the community. Call ahead to reserve tables before you go! These folks are busy - for good reason.

The menu is fantastic, there is so much to choose from, especially if you have specific dietary requirements. The food is DELICIOUS. Every time I have come here the food has not disappointed. I also cannot say enough about how friendly the staff are, and the music is fantastic. The prices are also superb. I highly recommend trying this place at least once, there's something for everyone! I keep coming back here every time I'm in town.

I was a bit nervous coming here as a vegan. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up getting the Indian Beet Salad and adding the Garbanzo Flats on top for some extra spice and protein. It was delicious and (Matt) who served us was great at answering all of my questions! Not to mention the kitchen staff member who brought out my samosa noticed it wasn't up to par and immediately took it away and brought a better (less greasy) one! Attention to detail is very important. I would highly recommend it to any vegans or otherwise that are travelling through the area.

This is not your regular boring cafe. This has the best selection of homemade food from breakfast to lunch that offers so much more than your standard cafe selection. As a vegetarian I find a lot of meals tired, this place had such a twist with Cuban and Indian flare. I could not believe the quality of the food and service provided. If it was open 7 days we would have come here every meal of our short stay.

A winner! The samosa was fabulous and is a meal in itself. The Cuban Black Bean Soup was just fine. The breakfast sandwich on whole wheat was great. We will be back!

While in Yarmouth visiting an old friend, she took us to the Shanty Cafe. It was a first rate experience. This cute little cafe which is open long hours offers an amazing menu - something for everyone. On top of this, their employees are all "challenged" people. They are genuinely amiable and friendly along with being very conscientious, delightful employees. This is near and dear to my heart and I hope if you're ever in Yarmouth, you'll try the Shanty Cafe on Central Street for your breakfast, lunch or dinner. A wonderful experience and great, healthy food!

Working with a crew in Yarmouth and The Shanty was recommended for lunch. So good we came back 4 days in a row. Best seafood chowder EVER. Awesome fishburger, hamburger, chicken, everything we tried. The food was great. We saw a turkey dinner on Facebook. Yummy but could not order for supper as they ran out. Ordered the ham dinner as shown with two big slices of ham. Seems they ran out as all the ham was leftover scraps. They made that look nice but left us feeling hungry. They had a sign outside their door with a chicken dinner or a rap. The waitress cam back to say no more chicken dinners left so all she could get is a rap.
