My husband and I were recommended this place when we first arrived in Darling Lake from Halifax yesterday and decided to go for lunch. He ordered the shawarma wrap and fries while I ordered the falafel wrap and poutine. My husband is still talking about the shawarma and honestly, the falafel was THE best falafel I have ever had. He even said he wishes he had gotten it too. The guy behind the counter was so friendly and helpful, chatted with us a bit after food. It felt so welcoming especially with the locals (regulars I assume as they're amazing there!) around who were welcoming as well. I will definitely be recommending Jake's to anyone who decides to visit Yarmouth!!

A good pizza place in town that’s still surprisingly in business. It’s a decent place to stop after a night out drinking since they’re open late, but beware of how long their pizzas have been on the warming racks. Make sure they’re fresh. I’ve had food poisoning at this place from old pizza sitting out too long.

We were in Yarmouth visiting my brother and thought we would try Jake's Family Restaurant as we always try to support the smaller businesses when possible. The staff was super helpful, friendly and nice which is why I am giving this a 2 star instead of a 1 star. Please note this review is based on the food taste, flavour and quality of what I had which was a chicken shawarma salad. Please note that I do not like leaving poor reviews but I need to be honest about my experience. Also please keep in mind that I am comparing this to authentic Lebenese food and quite honestly this should not be called Lebanese food as authentic shawarma is tender, juicy and bursting with flavour. The chicken was dry, and did not taste fresh. I think I ate about a 1/3 of the plate (forcefully) as I really do not like wasting food but I just couldn't eat any more even though I was hungry. I also felt the dish was way overpriced for what I got. I paid over $20 for a large salad and a bottle of water that I could barely eat, when in Halifax I can get a full authentic chicken shawarma plate for $11.99 + tax that includes freshly made lentel rice, chicken, tabboulie, toum, hummus, pickles and a whole pita. I am not sure about the other food they serve as it very well could be good, and I would assume they must serve decent food as this place seemed to be fairly busy but I certainly will not recommend the Shawarma salad. The staff on the other hand were very helpful and really tried to accomodate my diet which I did really appreciate.

I order a large pizza... when I asked how long the delivery is? The guy said 45 minutes...I said if it takes more than that please tell me beacuse I can pick it up... he assured me that he has two driver and should get it to my hotel By that by then or before... one hour and half later I got my large cold pizza...

This place used have the best pizza and service....lord knows what happened cuz the pizza isn't good like it used to be (crust too thick and sometimes pizza is doughy in the middle) and I'm not the first to say it unfortunately...maybe they need better cooks????..the owner is very friendly and fair though if something isn't right with your orders,that's if he's there when u order or talk to him about it,I find the other staff kind of rude????... Delivery is always 45 minutes or longer which sucks and by the time u get your food,it is cold????....."Redo's" and "Pizza Villa" has the best pizza in Yarmouth..no joke!!!????????????

Something has changed, the food quality is hit or miss. When they are busy the food seems to be rushed and under cooked, in some cases raw. It really depends on who's working and if the owner is in the store or not at the time. It's still okay but not consistently.

The experience from stepping in the door and out of the door was great. The pizza slices are a pretty big size to where you just need to buy the one. Only downside was the bathroom light switches being on the outside of the bathrooms. Would come here for more pizza forot sure!

So I go in for a slice with my wife , and the owner joe is in the back cooking . He says hello and makes us feel welcome as always . There is a kid sitting at the counter , hoodie, Backpack, and Joe ask the kid if every thing is alright,kid say All is good Joe then ask if he is hungry ? And offers food , no charge just worried that the kid may be hungry . This Guy is a class act ... How bout that !!!!!

Staff was friendly and my chicken wings were great, but for the pizza i ordered with my wings just did not cut it for me to come back here again. Especially waiting for 50 minutes, than receiving a very thin crust and poor quality ingredients. The dough wasn't even cooked correctly. Please eat else where like at pizza delight. Staff was super friendly and courteous, portions were very generous for the price but disappointing in some cases. Hubby enjoyed his order of gyros but not overly impressed with a gyros pizza he tried. Crust was overly thick. Myself and the kids really enjoyed our clams and they thought the cheese pizza was great. Onion rings had an off flavour (time to change the oil in the fryer?) and garden salad wasn't fresh.

We tried the pizza and the pita here and they were fine, nothing special. Service was good and food was made pretty quickly. I ordered a chicken and tzatziki pita and I think they put the wrong sauce in it because it was dripping everywhere and had no flavour to it. My partner got the large everything pizza and liked it. He said it was not too salty and the toppings weren't great quality but were okay. What was awesome was we got free garlic fingers with the pizza and they were quite enjoyable.

Every time I order now, like the pizza or panzarrati is uncooked. I always taste dough. I usually get it delivered and it takes 45 minutes to come to me... I ordered a poutine the other night and it was cold... I also found a piece of Donair meat in it.. I'm not pleased. I liked JAKE'S before but I don't now.

It has been 20 years and the place hasn't changed. I walked through the door like a dog , smelling the air , taking in all of the wonderful smells you get from (in my opinion) the best pizza and donair shop in all of Nova Scotia. So all I can say is . $ 1500 for a plane ticket . 500 for the car. Getting to eat at Jakes one more time ...... worth every cent.

I ordered a donair and a large pepperoni pizza. The donair was okay but ive had better. As for the pizza, it was barely cooked and was moist. for some reason looked like someone had sweat over the pizza. The taste wasn't very enjoyable either. Sorry but i do not recommend this place.

I love Jakes for their freshly made food. I usually stick to the sandwiches that I know I love (such as the Greek chicken pita) but you really can't go wrong here. The Lebanese menu is especially good and I highly recommend trying anything on it. It's a very nice alternative to processed, frozen fast food.

My favorite thing about Jake's is how lovely the staff are. I had to tip the guy working when I went even though I was just picking up, he was checking up on everyone and just overall being very kind. I always love seeing happy and energetic staff. The pizza is pretty good, though I feel the other items would shine more. Definitely will come back to dine in next time I'm in the area.

We love this small dinner for breakfast. Always cooked fresh and perfect at a great price. Saturday we stopped closer to lunch so my wife had a small donar which was so packed that she could not finish it. I had a toasted western sandwich. It was made with two eggs which needed a fork to finish what overflows on the plate.

If I could give more stars I would. Food was awesome and fresh and what made the experience over the top was the service. All restaurants should aspire to treat the customers the way they are treated here. Cheeseburger, chicken nuggets and the panzerotti is all I can on, but all three were probably the best of each I’ve ordered. Thank you and we will be back next time we’re in town!

Called about an undercooked doughy panzortie and was told to microwave my take out. I can deal with the normal doughy crust, but not when you can't tell cheese from raw dough on the inside. Especially after driving an hour there and back only for pick up.

Incredibly mediocre. We both got the shish tawook platter. Not a hint of tzatziki or any other yoghurt based sauce but either a commercial caesar or ranch dressing. The fattoush salad had sad lettuce and a red wine vinaigrette. Where was the lemon and sumac? So disappointed.

I have had their take out in the past and been severely disappointed, both in service and food. Trying them again as none of us can be at our best at all times and they receive great praise locally. Maybe I ordered wrong. Order placed at 10:01 pm for a hamburger platter to go, nobody ahead of me... Update: Wait was just over 10 minutes, which is fair and the food was good. Not spectacular, but a pretty good burger and okay fries.

We called and they said they would contact the delivery guy to bring it to us--- 45 minutes later its still not here. Called again (still no apology or explaonation)- they said it was on route. An hour later we finally rec'd it- little to no customer service at this place. NO FORKS IN THE BAG!!! ( we are at a hotel)--- person at jakes says check the front desk lol

My only complaint is I've gone there asking for vegetarian decided to get the falafel which was really good but the salad that I got with it had bacon bites. This was a longtime ago though but just a note that if you don't eat meat make sure to stress that!

They sure are a boat customer satisfaction I ordered veggie pizza and it came with loads of pineapple I was not happy about that, they were more than happy to replace the pizza. They were glad I let them know I was disappointed
