Ok food. Great Prices. 4 Stars in Waterloo. 3 stars in Mississauga/Toronto because of tough competetion in there. They have a good Biryani in Waterloo, however, GTA has much better biryanis. BBQ platter is good mix of food at a great price point. It's the rice in the plattar which has a weird taste to it otherwise the seekh kabab & tikka tastes good. Gulab Jaman are excellent. Microwave them for 40 seconds and they will taste even better. They are the only menu item we will go back for. Overall, if you are in Waterloo, it is an ok place to get desi food.

Full stars for 'Aunty's Kitchen'! From the moment I tried to order online, the staff at Aunty's Kitchen was understanding and supportive. There were issues ordering online, making us call them several times. Not once did they get mad or annoyed, instead, they gave insightful advice and when we still could not order through the apps, they found another method to ensure we could place our order. Their services didn't end there, though; when they got to the designated address, the person we were trying to send food to wasn't responding. They immediately got in contact with us and asked us what we wanted to do and instead of only looking out for their profit line, they accommodated for the situation without a complain even though it was almost 12am. Very impressed with the top quality service and definitely would recommend.

Food takes ages to be prepared. Took my food about 30 mins to be made and I’m standing outside just waiting nonstop Uber drivers coming in and out. The employees couldn’t handle my questions as they lack knowledge to responding. Very awkward situations. The food wasn’t even made properly as there was rice chunks.

Tried this place for the first time tonight after wanting to do so for years. Honestly, it was a lot better than some of these reviews have stated. Was I blown away no, will I go back absolutely. Price/portion size is incredible. I tested on the Tandoori chicken wrap and the Tandoori chicken quarter on rice. It was delicious. If I hadn't worked all day and not eaten I'd have lunch for tomorrow. That wrap was HUGE. I ate most of it but still couldn't finish it after the quarter chicken. That portion was pretty small but still good value for 12 dollars.

The biryani was quite good. The rice was good and flavorful. The chicken pieces could have done with more spices but I understand they can't make it too spicy due to wide consumer base. Ice tea on fountain was great.

I ordered after reading some good reviews here. Very disappointed with my order. The biryani rice was dry to the point of being stiff and chewy, best I can explain it as not freshly cooked. The chicken wrap was also too dry and tasted bland. The packaging was poor and food spilled out. I am sure not to order ever again. Total waste of money. I have thrown most of the food to dustbin, I tried eating it but could not.

Called to find out what gluten free options, they said 'gluten free cheesecake'. Asked again as we have ordered gluten free meal options from there in the past, but they had no clue, or didn't care, either way, we don't trust that they care about celiacs. Very frustrating. Will not return.

Decided to get takeout since I haven’t ordered food from here in awhile and it will be the last time. Quality has gone down. I ordered butter chicken and the rice was undercooked and hard, the naan was old and hard and the butter chicken only had 4 pieces of chicken in it and the chicken was extremely dry.

One of the few places in Waterloo which is open after 12am. Ordered chicken biriyani last Saturday. The portion was good but taste wasn’t as expected. The biriyani was a bit more salty to my taste, rice was undercooked. Heard a lot of good things about the restaurant, will definitely try it once more before coming to a conclusion.

Tried the humble Dal rice. I was not expecting much, but I was blown away by its exquisite flavour. Very friendly people who ungrudgingly accommodate customisations. This has become my default take-out place when I'm hungry. Would definitely recommend!

20 minutes wait turned into 57minutes wait— Malai Boti was tasteless and out of 4 little chicken pieces, 2 were raw. The fries that were gona come with the dinner was missing and we drove from Cambridge so going back and asking for it was not an option.The beef boti roll had a skinny beef kabab. $38 wasted!!!!! I don’t know what happened to these guys!!! The portion size shrunk, the taste’s gone bad. The owner should really look into this. I have been going there since my college life 2011 but this was officially my last time. Took family with me and now I can’t even mention Aunty’s kitchen name in-front of them because of their food and service—-so Embarrassing!!!

I was looking to order food to help with my late night hunger and was happy to see Aunty's kitchen was open. This was my first time ordering and I chose to try it because im tired of trying the oversaturated shawarma/pizza options in kw and ive heard a lot about it! For starters, their meal portions are HUGEE, i got twice the amount I thought I was going to get (no complaints ahah). The biryani was amazing, the butter chicken was also really good as well. They also left a super cute hand written note of encouragement that I thought was an extremely sweet gesture. Im really surprised they have a low rating! They definitely put efforts into their hospitality, the food is amazing, and the owners seem really responsive in the reviews as well! I genuinely wish I could work with them, this seems like such a homie environment. I can't wait to try them again!

Ordered a Fusion plate, small side of Butter Chicken and Naan through a home delivery service. This came to just under $33. (including delivery, tax & 15% tip) and fed us both well with enough leftovers for another lunch. Great value IMO. Everything arrived as ordered and hot, and the flavors were all very tasty. The butter chicken sauce stood out though. Tastes home made with a nice amount of spice. Quite happy, and will certainly be ordering again.

I dont want to give even 1 star.. Yesterday I ordered vegetarian sandwich which was unpleasant .. Only black mushrooms and nutrella patty which tasted like rubber and u will chew like a cow for half of the day... Then about their service it was that fast that I had waited for 50 mins and then they gave us the half order in which they forgot to add pepsi bottle and pastries... They couldn't understand a simple sentence in english that u did not give the complete order.. So if anyone wants to try and experience warm gesture from Auntys kitchen then u can go ahead...

I buy from here often. I usually order the butter chicken curry with the naan and I have recently tried the chicken kabab roll wrap. They were both really well made and delicious, especially the butter chicken. Jimmy (the guy who usually takes my order most of the time) is really friendly and kind. It can easily be noticed that he is highly enthusiastic about his job. This adds to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. I plan on trying out the other types of dishes which they have on their menu in the future. It is easily one of the best places in Waterloo for buying Indian food.

We have ordered numerous times with Aunty’s Kitchen and have never been disappointed. Their Biryanis are to die for. We recently ordered samosas and tandoori bonelsss chicken for our party and every last bite was scooped up. Prices were completely reasonable as well. The food is great and comes in huge portions. We ordered a platter to accommodate 4 adults and a kid. Everyone is full and there is lots leftover for tomorrow! Only downside is much of the food has only one spice level which could be too spicy for some.

I understand the existance of the pandemic and you are doing a wonderful job of serving food, but how is it not important to allow your customer access to your washroom. I am sure your employees wont work for you for hours or more if they dont have access to the washroom... So how is it that they as essential workers have access and others who are essential workers and your customer (who declined to place an order) denied access to the washroom. Sorry you lost your business to the business next door because they chose to treat me like a human and not a cash cow. All the best with your business... you will need all the luck you can get.

Ordered Butter chicken naan and Tandoori Biryani today It was really bad experience for me Butter chicken which they recommended as their best dish was okey and not testy at all.(Not like actual Butter Chicken) Tandoori Biryani was also dry and not properly cooked. First time ordering - had the dinner 1 - beef kabobs and tandoori chicken with rice and butter naan came with a wonderful spicy yoghurt dip. Best tandoori chicken I’ve had that I can recall. The rice was perfect and that sauce with the kabobs was great!! Definitely going to order again.

Ordered take out from here as my first Aunty's experience and WOW! Everything was expertly packaged so there were no leaks or spills. The main dishes were neatly labeled and there was a delightful handwritten note accompanying my order. These guys should be teaching courses on how to package take out orders. The food itself was amazing. I have been disappointed lately with many restaurants serving a sickeningly sweet butter chicken, but not Aunty's! Perfect amount of spice and large portions. I will definitely be returning to try some more of their dishes.

This place is awesome! I wish I knew who Aunty was so I can tell her myself how awesome she is and ask if she's adopting nephew's. I tried them out two nights ago with the Carb-Free Platter .... it was amazing! Savory kebabs, juicy chicken Malai Boti, and tender tandoori chicken. Gobbled it up, but only half, with the lovely naan bread. The next night, stopped into the shop itself for a bowl of rice and piece of naan to finish off the left overs .... so good! And then tonight went for the beef ribs, Lahori fish, and biryani rice .... amazing! The beef ribs are a great use of short ribs that you would normally have with Korean food. The fish is juicy and fresh, full of flavor. I go home tomorrow but guess what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow morning ..... yup, food from Aunty's Kitchen. I hope I come back to Waterloo for many reasons, including being able to eat from Aunty's again. Go get some now!!!!

After moving to waterloo recently and being in quarantine, I heard about aunty’s kitchen a lot from my friends who asked me to try it out for south east asian foods. Up till now I have tried their: - Butter Chicken with Naan: Way too good. Simply delicious. Would definitely be ordering it again and also be recommending it to others. However, I didn’t like the rice that came with the butter chicken as they lacked flavour and were a lil’ bit hard to chew. - Lahori Fish: I liked it. The spices were well-balanced and the fish was freshly fried. - Gulab Jamun: They were good too. - Nihari: I liked it. It was fresh and the meat was soft (as it should be). My only suggestion would be to serve it with complimentary nihari condiments like sliced lemon, peppers, fried onions and thinly sliced ginger etc as these would add more value and authenticity to the dish. - Chicken Tikka with Biryani Rice: I really liked the combo. The biryani and tikkas were fresh and flavoursome. - Kheer: I would call it a “go back” dish as I would definitely be going back to Aunty’s Kitchen for it. The creamy flavours of the kheer with coarsely ground texture, neither too sweet nor too bland and the rich khoya/milky taste is worth trying. I would definitely be ordering it again and also be recommending it to others. - Cheese Naan: It was a bit disappointing as the cheese naans that we get back home i.e., Pakistan have a crispy exterior and a soft interior with rich cheesy filling (as soon as you take a morsel the cheese starts flowing out of the naan. Besides this, they have a very light blend of spices which perfectly compliments the cheese). On the contrary, the cheese naan that Aunty’s Kitchen made was nothing like this. It was a thin naan/roti with a bit of mozzarella cheese filling. The naan tasted fine but wasn’t worth 10$. - Paratha: Aunty’s Kitchen doesn’t make home-cooked parathas. It just pan-cooks the ready-made frozen CD- sized parathas. It was a disappointing experience as I wasn’t expecting a 2$ paratha to be a heated frozen-paratha. I wouldn’t recommend the parathas. With that being said, my overall experience is good. The restaurant actually calls to explain what it can / can’t entertain if you have mentioned any special instructions in the online app. I also received a cute hand-written thank you note.

Attached a pic of one of the combos. Ordered from this place today through skip the dishes. 2 Dinner plates which come with 3 sides each. Paid 30+ tax. Came with handful of rice and exactly 4 small pieces of meat. Had asked to keep sauce on side but the sauce did not come and neither it was on the rice. Fries come in paper box which get moist due to the steam. Also, the order was delayed.

This will be my last time order at this place. There are three issues: 1. The quantity of food is significantly less than 1 year ago when I ordered last time 2. The waiting time is unreasonable. I ordered online at 6:45 and received a text message saying it will be ready at 7:05. Arrived there at 7:15 and my food is still not ready. After 10 min I received a phone call asking what I ordered for sides. It was then they started to prepare my order. Such a waste of my time! 3. It was so dangerous during covid to visit this place. The space inside is really really limited while so many people is inside waiting for their order. Not sure how many people are allowed inside but from my experience, the distance between each customer is definitely less than the recommended social distance I am really disappointed. I used to love this place.

Ordered the date night platter 2 days ago. Took over an hour and a half to get delivered (only 10 minutes of which were the driver driving). The food was fine but the kebobs were both dry and they failed to mention that the 'platter' was about 80% rice with 2 small kebobs and one chicken drumstick. Cheesecake was admittedly good. All of the hot food was lukewarm at best when it arrived. However, my partner and I both got very very sick from what we think were the kebobs. I'll spare you the grisly details but suffice to say we spent the last 36 hours fighting over the bathroom. Very hard to recommend a place that made my family so ill.

Writing this review based on many varity of briyani. I am a Briyani lover. I have ordered a Tandoori chicken briyani today. Firstly the rice, I belive its was yesterday rice and gave me after heating. Because rice was crispy in between. 2 small pieces of chicken all cost $10.50. Y should I need to pay $10.50 for this poor taste of briyani. Disappointed briyani.

My first time trying. I ordered the fish curry dinner with rice, salad, and masala fries and got it delivered through doordash. The food was packaged well: The curry was wrapped in cling wrap and there was no spillage at all. Salad and fries were boxed separately. The curry was very tasty, but I agree with other reviewers that it's a bit too salty, even with rice. The rice and salad were very good, but the fries were unfortunately soggy as they were sealed up in a cardboard box. I would eat here again and try something else, hopefully they can reduce the salt in their food a bit.

My friends and I always order the small butter chicken poutine. The poutine is delicious, the fries are nicely cooked and its not overly spicy. For a small they give a huge portion size that 2/3 people could easily share. When placing an order online they always prepare a handwritten note when I pick it up which is a nice little touch :)

Used to be very good but now it’s up to our luck. Sometimes the food is good sometimes very disappointing.Staff are also sometimes very nice or kind of rude. I’ve seen many times the employees are treated very bad by the manager/supervisor without minding the customer standing in front. And they’ve no social distancing for customers, no sanitizers, people can get their orders without mask. Finding this place has changed totally. I experienced all these in my last 2 visits.

We ordered from Aunty's Kitchen quite late one night. i did feel guilty as we were cutting it close to their closing time. When we received our food it came with a lovely note, which I thoroughly appreciated. Aside from the note the food is absolutely fantastic! There are only 3 restaurants I have eaten at so far that serve GOOD indian food and Aunty's Kitchen was definitely one of them! The fusion is DELICIOUS!

They deliver only shawarma on the rice and naan. If you want to explore more option you have to go for take out option. Doordash also delivers the order of aunty's kitchen but they will charge you little extra than original price of restaurant.

They were open really late which is why I went there, it wasn't my first choice but I do like Indian food and I was grateful they were open. I ordered the Beef Nihari curry dish, which comes with naan and I added a side of rice. I waited in person for fifteen or twenty minutes. They seemed pretty busy and there was a sign that suggested ordering ahead, so the wait was okay with me. The guy working the front was friendly and cool, he chatted a bit and apologized for it taking long. I took the order home and it did not have the naan bread. I ordered a large and it didn't seem to be that big. there were only two pieces of beef (and they were cooked really good and soft). The sauce was spicy, but it was boring and didn't really have flavor. It tasted like canned gravy with spice added. Definitely disappointed for the price paid. I would consider trying another dish here, but only if I was stuck in a late night situation. I would hands down goto Tandoori Express instead if they are open.

Economical and comes with a small and large option for almost everything when it comes to main course. Can do a bit better in terms of taste of butter chicken but believe me their Chicken Shawarma Rice is amazing and a must taste. The service is good, you in fact get an SMS on your phone once your order is ready. So you can order and go for a walk on the nearby Laurel trail and return when it's ready.

Portion size was gigantic (but it is $14, which is a pricier lunch in that area) salad was a bit soggy and the Butter Chicken was WAY too spicy for me and I wasn't able to finish it. I got it b/c I know I can't handle spice and that's usually a safe option for me. The flavour was over powered by the intense spice, so taste wasn't worth the heartburn. Meal was prepared quickly and the decor is nice, its a cute spot! I don't think I'm a good candidate for repeat customer if that is the one of the more mild options. Spice lovers rejoice, but pass the Tums :D

Super salty and spicy food, even though it’s not mentioned in the menu that this platter contain spices. The quality is very bad, also the quantity was very poor (only 4 pieces of chicken in the platter). The fries were not fresh. I don’t recommend this restaurant at all. First and last time to order.

The portion is good, but the quality is varied everyday, when I first order form here 2 months back, I was happy to get a nice biriyani place, but their quality isn't keep constant all the time. sometimes at the shop they are super nice and friendly, other day super rude!! Yesterday I ordered chicken biriyani from skip the dishes, the portion was okay, but all I get small one piece of chicken for each boxes (ordered 2 of the same kind), also for boneless biryani, instead of 4 pieces (mentioned in the menu), got only three!! One of the biriyani doesn't even properly mix with spices, I can see the white rice, for 31+taxes order, it's really a disappointment! I would really consider to order from here again..

First and last time to order. It was a very bad experience. As it’s shown in the photos the portion of chicken was very little, the quality and quantity was very poor. The food was also super salty, spicy and also the “Maggie” spices inside the rice was as if it’s expired because it’s taste was very bad. I was not feeling well after eating even though I couldn’t continue the platter. It’s also not mentioned that this platter was spicy. I recommend everyone who can’t eat spicy to not order from this restaurant because I had a high blood pressure after eating a little bit. In addition the taste of the food was very bad.

Review based upon first experience. The restaurant is encouraging to place orders online to get a 5% discount. However that is not the case. You will not see any discount at the checkout and upon inquiring with the customer service, it was aadvised to place the order and then email the restaurant to claim refund!! Didn't understand that why a customer has to go through such a hussle. Next we tried placing order by calling the restaurant. The cashier claimed that they serve hands slaughtered meat but there was no visible certificate to back that statement. Upon speaking to three different staff members, one of them showed a picture on her mobile phone of some document showing that meat is halal and the supplier is Sergeant Farms. We ordered a Family Platter I and one medium sized Fish n Chips. The taste of Fish was below average and the Family Platter was just ok. Nothing special that needs to be tried out for the next time. The person who took out order was very friendly and courteous though.

We ordered chicken biryani and channa masala dinner. It was a very bad customer service as we asked for raita and we were promised we'll get it. While picking up the order we even confirmed with the cashier if raita is placed in the bag. And she said yes. It was really disappointing to get lied and mis guided by one of your staff. Fries was supposed to be masala fries but it was plain dry fry. Overall a very bad experience. Will think twice before ordering.

Its worst place to waste time. They have worst customer handling systems and staff just stay busy in cooking no-one is there to take your order or listen to you. They just stay busy in Kitchen, even they see you even tho they don’t care and keep working in Kitchen. I ordered boneless butter chicken dinner from them yesterday afternoon and i asked multiple time that is bread they will give made by them or not. They said yeah they will make it and they have cook there to make it but when i got it, it was a not a Kitchen made bread it was like a pita bread and taste so gross ????. They said order will be ready in 15 min but when i reached there, there was noone to attend me and give me my order. Noone even paying attention, i waiting around half an hour there just to take my order. I m really disappointed from there service.

One suggestion: ask for the utensils before you order. As they don’t have straw when I ordered red velvet milk shake and they suggested me to find straw from any other restaurant. And when I asked for refund one lady came from the back kitchen and rudely said that she’ll do refund. Kind of disappointment as that was not my fault that they were out of straws. That was my first visit and the last for sure. Though the young girl who took my order, was kind enough and pretty much customer service oriented.

Order was late by 10 or so mins. Too many people inside of the small confined space. More than 5 people were in the at one time. I avoided staying inside as much as possible. It is both auntie's kitchen and Hero Burger which was very confusing when I wanted to pick up food that ordered from Hero Burger. They should add a sign or something that indicates hero burger so that customers can find the place easier.

We ordered chicken briyani and it was good. Butter chicken had no flavor, just cream and tomato puree, no authentic butter chicken taste at all. Sesame naan was just a flat bread with no softness or freshness, it seemed like they just bought from store heated up and sprinkled sesame on it.

Service at the front could use a serious overhaul. Placed an order for pickup and there were issues with orders starting from food to cutlery. It's upto front staff to explain the menu so that there are no surprises but that's not the biggest concern. No napkins, no cutlery and didn't even know how to handle the concerns. Usually pickup places asks if we we want napkins or cutlery. Simply acknowledging the screw up would work in this case. FYI - It was one of my favorite restaurant in city when it was named "Aunty's Cafe". Visited this city after 6 years and I am surprised by the service being offered. Bring back the old way of doing things and provide suggestions.

This is the best restaurant in the university complex. I had visited many times. I tried mainly beef dishes. Mr. Rahul who works here is very helpful to choose something different on all times whenever i visits here. He is so friendly and explains about the new varieties of dishes. It's an Okay place but not my go-to if I want to take my friends or family to a restaurant. Their pricing is perfectly fine, but they mostly go for Quantity over Quality which is making me give 3 ⭐ instead of 4. I like their butter sauce which is original, but they overdo it, too much gravy and it can feel slimey. Also the workers should place an emphasis on the people who take in food instead of UberEats/Doordash etc. Other than that, it's overally not a bad restaurant, just not that good as well.

I ate biryani in many places and some of them are worst. This place is the worst of all. Never ate a worst briyani like this. It was just colored rice with 2 pieces of chicken. Rice was raw and had stomach problems after ate it. No masala and nothing in it. Never visit again and not recommend to anyone. Waste of the time and money. Update: got a reply from the Aunty's Kitchen. I really appreciate it. Please improve the food quality. I prefer quality rather than quantity. The rice was very raw. I bought the biriyaani last week around 5 pm. It did not look or taste like biriyaani. Look at the pictures.

Very good food quality makes me come here 2-3 times a week at least. Large portions, soft fresh baked naan and amazing fries! Food is a bit spicy (the least spicy one is shawarma / shawarma plate). The only downside is that I no longer want to eat in cheaper places in University Plaza and keep going to Aunty's despite their higher price tag. Well worth it for me though and still cheaper than any cafe / restaurant with servers.

Can’t decide where to order food from? Aunty’s kitchen is the only place I can trust blindly for authentic desi meals. Sadly, I ordered today from Nishas and I can’t regret enough I wasted 30 bucks! Aunty’s kitchen serve the best biryani in town. I have tried a dozen of products but I felt dissatisfied yesterday. The tikka naan we ordered was over cooked and burned. It had obvious signs of burn that it became crunchy. Also it was too oily!

Food here is delicious. Full of flavour. A bit too salty for be though. Portions are pretty big and filling. I like that you can refill your soft drinks. Prices range from around $8 to $13 dollars. Service could be faster, but it was worth the wait and it was very busy with Uber Eat orders at the time. Causal dining, great for hangouts or a night out alone. I would definitely eat here again.

I even asked while picking the order as I was given single bag which was warm and the response I got was the cake is in the bag! I love eating fish curry dinner, tandoori boti dinner, and butter chicken dinner from auntys. They are very delicious and are filling. I also love their MSD wraps for quick snack. Next on my list to try is spicy chicken naan, Nutella naan, and the hero burgers. I am glad they added cake desserts to their menu. I love their cupcakes and I tried triple chocolate cake and it was very delicious and fresh.

We've ordered delivery from Aunty's Kitchen probably eight times, and the food has always been absolutely delicious. The food isn't 'fancy', but it is so good. We ALWAYS order the MSD wraps (with beef) which are like nothing I've ever had, and can't recommend enough. The garlic sauce is good (as you would expect) and I generally order the fish curry with rice (the rice is also very aromatic and very tasty). Portions are very large, and when we order two entrees and the MSD wraps we always have a full lunch of leftovers.

Theyre involved in the new wave of fake "delivery only: restaurantys where they make horribly cheap frozen foods and sell them as another restaurant because they dont think people will catch on to the scam. "Homemade Burgers" are just frozen patties and certainly not "smash burgers". I'm sure once people catch on, they just shut it down and make a new name. Shame on you! Wont be eating here ever again.

Aunty's kitchen was one of the first places I bought food from when I moved to Waterloo for uni, and I fell in love with the place. The staff are just so sweet and the food is great. 10/10 recommend the tandori chicken dishes, kabab plates, chicken biryani, and shawarma plates. Only reason why its a 4/5 stars and not 5 is because they sometimes take a little long with orders as they are often swamped, especially during peak hours like lunch and dinner time. But once when I went for pickup and they took a little long, they gave me a free rice pudding desert which tasted amazing. ALSO they have so many flavours of Calypso, YOU MUST TRY THE BLUE LEMONADE CALYPSO !! :D will taste amazing with any of their rice dishes.
