Wildfire, as the name somewhat indicates, is an artisan bakery selling wood-oven breads and baked goods. They also use either certified organic or locally grown ingredients, so good stuff. The fruity treats could use a little more fruit, but they were still very tasty. -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

Just the very best bread anywhere with only a few all natural ingredients! The staff, though, can be really hit or miss: really helpful and cheerful, or will just give you what appears to be an annoyed stare when you come in with no greeting or "can I help you" or ANYTHING, just the "what the hell do you want" vibe.

I love to encourage bakers that use quality organic products so I really wanted to love this bakery, but it really needs improving. The cafe is not well designed so you are inches away from people eating while waiting to be served, not cozy or fun for anyone. The staff is sometimes friendly, but not always and the people in line are impatient and rude. The breads and treats are super expensive and I wouldn't mind if it was worth it, but its often not. I bit into their seeded rye bread yesterday and hurt the inside of my mouth because it was over cooked. Not kidding and not the first time it happens. I hope they read this review and consider making changes, the business has so much potential. Best of luck!

Wildfire is truly an amazing local gem. The care they put into their products is incredible, and the quality is almost unmatched in this city. They not only have beautiful sweet pastries and amazing bread loaves - they also have fantastic lunch options. And they're lovely people! I also really feel compelled to comment on the reviewer below. Why are people so awful? It is *not* unlawful to ask people to wear masks in a retail setting at this time - businesses have the right to require their customers to wear masks. Tourism has rapidly increased this month, our numbers are going up sharply, and the delta variant is rampant. Wearing masks and requiring customers to do so shows a commitment of care to employees and customers - and I heartily applaud and support Wildfire and other businesses for this policy. Thank you Wildfire - and I'm so sorry for the negativity your team has to face surrounding this.

Efficient and friendly. The BEST focaccia in Canada. This is the only place I will buy focaccia in Victoria, B.C. Onion cheese the best. Toast and add more butter: delectable. My other favourite product is the fruit danish. Sooooo good. Plus they have amazing art on the side of their building.

This is a cute bakery that has a friendly neighborhood look like not only those who go to work to buy coffee and bread, but also granddaughters and grandfathers who come out for breakfast. This place makes the best bread in town and indeed, the best bread I have ever had. I come here every week and almost always get a loaf of the Garlic Cheddar. Great for sandwiches or just on its own. Except for the ciabatta, all bread here is sourdough (the way all bread used to be made, the right way). There is a wide variety of delicious bread choices. There are sandwiches, coffee, and various delicious sweet and savory goodies.

Wildlife makes a range of different, delicious, artisan breads, muffins, cookies, bars, and individual pizzas that are all baked in their wood-burning oven. They also sell daily soups, sandwiches, coffees, teas, and some cold drinks. While artisan breads do tend to have holes, the primary reason why I didn't give them five stars, is because the holes in their breads are too frequently, riddiculously large, such that there is only crust and a gaping hole throughout a large portion of the loaf. Other than that, I highly recommend Wildfire. They have a few small tables, but I am not sure that they would be wheelchair accessible. I would call before going there if wheelchair accessibility is a priority.

Once inside, you are presented with many delicious options, several of which allow those with dietary restrictions to indulge in GF, DF, processed-SF, or vegan baked goods. Can't decide which loaf to try? Get a half each of two different ones!

Some of the very best bread and pastries in Victoria. Wildfire has stiff competition from Frye's and Fol Epi, but each of these bakeries has its unique strengths that are unmatched by the others. I love Wildfire's 100% rye with sunflower seeds, as well as the sprouted wheat, mixed grain breads and more. Pizza is ever-changing vegetarian and excellent, as are the soups. Sandwiches, including vegetarian and vegan options, are also very good. Wildfire recently purchased a new industrial oven -- the thing is a massive beast. Their bread still feels entirely artisanal, however, with red fife wheat, organics, and other non-agribusiness varieties. Many of the cakes and pastries have a likewise wholesome, not necessarily delicate but delicious quality. Props to the owner, who has weathered thick and thin to keep Victoria in fantastic bakery bread.

Seems like a neat place, it's close to downtown and has a big mural on the side of the building. The interior reminded me of bakeries in Portland, in a good way. I had some chocolate chip cookies and a ham and brie baguette. The cookies were good, nothing special. The baguette was tough as hell, it was incredibly taxing to eat this sandwich and my gums were sore afterwards. I'd probably come back and try a few different things, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Went in for a pizza to find out that they don't make a spelt crust anymore. The pizzas are made with white flour with the dough the consistency of a 'crumpet', spongey and full of holes. The cheese on top wasn't very melted and the the contents not evenly spaced out. Some pieces had sausage slices, some didn't. Kind of disappointing. Won't go back for a pizza but the other products are good. I'd like to see the spelt crust back.

The breads here are good, and at one time I considered this the best bakery in town. However, it seems to have went downhill since the original baker, Cliff, left for Fol Epi. Added to that, the service is often borderline rude. At best, it's indifferent. I'm not one of those people who expect the staff in shops to bend over backwards to kiss my arse, but it's not too much to at least expect a degree of neutral civility. Now, if I buy bread instead of baking it myself, I go to the recently opened Leaven at the corner of Cook and Pandora (right next to Mac's Milk). They are also a wood-fired bakery and use exclusively organic ingredients. To boot, everyone there seems very friendly and happy to be working in the place. Leaven leaves Wild Fire in the dust. Try their focaccia... or well... everything they have. *swoon*

(Translated) I bought a whole grain bread called Red Fire. I didn't know that Red Fire is like wheat, which is the origin of Canadian wheat. I did not understand the difference in taste from normal whole grain. It is crowded with people who come to buy bread from morning and people who wake up. I like the ciabbatas, but my wife and I went in there and they served three different customers that came in after us while we stood there looking like chumps. Don't even know how that's possible, it's just a small place with one counter. We left, and won't be back.

Was recommended this little gem. Close to where I live. Love the bread. Nice selection. Staff are very friendly. I find the prices for artisian bread reasonable. Even the clients are polite. I've been there twice and will definitely be returning. Love the overall vibe. Rule of thumb: This bakery knows what their clients want so if you want to get a good selection to choose from, I would suggest getting there early. You can show up at 3 and find most of their products already gone.

Our family recently bought a highly over-rated $7 loaf of Rustic White Bread of Wildfire's , thinking that there must be something special about it at such exorbitant price .. We asked the vendor why so high a price for so small a loaf ~ to which she replied that it was probably due to the fact that it " came sliced " .... Well , there must be something wrong with your slicing machine Wildfire , as we still had to cut/tear the bottom piece off each slice , and our daughter exclaimed that we must have been paying for all the holes throughout each slice as well ! Too small for the toaster and not much to say about the taste either , considering the ridiculous price of this bread . We can do better with our home bread machine say all of us . All in all , most disappointing ~ and we give this loaf a 2 out of ten , feeling it too risky to try another of Wildfire's breads again . In future we will stick to those good $ 5.00 loaves available in ordinary quality bakeries

My go-to lunch spot. This wonderful bakery is a stone's throw from my office, and I'm lucky enough to be able to catch a meal there every week or so. The pizzas and soups are divine, and the baked goods are too good to resist. I love the changing artwork on the outside, and the political messages bring a lot of soul and authenticity to the spot.
