It's like a community dance hall mated with a old-school bar; this love child is a curious place for filming local t.v. shows, activist presentations, live music dancing, etc. I'm at a loss how to explain the place except that if there's an event there, go. You won't regret it if only to catch a real throwback vibe.

This is a fantastically intimate venue that provides a cozy atmosphere. I was in attendance for Confabulation, an amazing and entertaining night of personal stories and select individuals. Although the venue was packed it was reasonably cooled and provided an ideal storytelling experience. The stairs are difficult for anyone with problems walking but other than that the location was great.

Small enough to create intimacy and big enough to accommodate a good size group. Good location, stairs that make it inaccessible for some, but add to the experience and charm of the place of you can climb them.

Great atmosphere, nice stage great acoustics but this is not a place for anyone with mobility problems. Big flight of stairs. At least they are wide enough for others to pass you while you are working your way up.

My review is only based on the events I've attended. Mainly 80s and 90s parties because they host some good ones. The mix of people at the events I've been to is incredibly varied and it's enormously refreshing. They put games out of the board and video variety, nice places to sit with good people, good beers to be had and overall I've yet to not have a ton of fun. Again - this is just a review of the events I attend but I assume it translates to others.

I love going to the events held at the VEC! I always do my best to make the time and support local shows and dances. Affordable covers and I love the energy and atmosphere. A tidbit small for the venue so make sure to show up early for whatever event you plan to show up for!

Tell customers who already paid for their order (and tipped) that you don't have Splenda or Sugar Twin and give them stevia instead. They are like comparing apples to oranges. Wasted my money on an Americano I couldn't have. So decided to leave instead of staying to have a drink during open mic. Other than that the staff was pleasant but it did seem odd I was pushed to pay for my order right away instead if being able to pay after I was finished.

Great space for any live event - cozy and comfortable, with great staff. The acoustics are excellent. Check out the guitar shaped bar, it's a thing of beauty!

Venue for music? Amazing. Cocktails? Borderline undrinkable with how overpowering they are- I could overpour myself for a lot cheaper at home. Serving staff? Stunning, except management should know better than to throw a new girl to the wolves on a weekend.

This is my favorite go-dancing place in Victoria. Different dance parties sometimes hold here on Friday or Saturday nights. You don't have to pay the cover if you don't have money. This makes everyone feels welcoming, and melts my heart a little bit. Some fun events open to public as well. You may want to check their website for event calendar. They have plenty seats and a nice bar too.

It used to be a great place to go watch Vaudeville but since the wine prices more than doubled ($40 bucks a bottle) the crowds seemed to have dwindled. Tired of being gouged when trying to support local performing artists!

This place is the most unique cafe I've ever been to and the most peaceful. A upstairs cafe with lots of space and a calm atmosphere. Also serving great quality coffee, it's hard to imagine a cafe like this could exist but it is my new favorite spot.
