Fabulous. Great service and lovely atmosphere. You won't regret it.

A lovely afternoon tea with all the trimmings. Excellent service, large teapots, great quality scones, tea sandwiches and sweets. Lovely young lady serving and the setting is TDF. A beautiful 1.5 acre garden with mature trees, water features, flowers, and cultivated beds. Absolutely beautiful. $90 plus tax and tip. Worth your money. Reservations a must.

Robin Sherwood

The tea was delicious and the garden was such a beautiful setting to enjoy it.

Mariah Gentry

The garden was really good and well maintained. You only have to give some donation to go in. They also provide different kinds of tea. Worth a visit.

Jeffrey Brooks

We return to The Abkhazi Garden and Tea Room every time we visit Victoria. While the trees were not yet in full leaf and bloom, the flowers were still gorgeous, the paths still inviting, and the turtles certainly enjoyed the sun. My wife and I shared an Elevnses and a Lunch Tea and we were delighted with the selection. The good was delicious, as was the Abkhazi Tea Blend. See you next year!

Arifa Nazneen

This was our first experience with afternoon tea and we loved it! The food and tea were great. The service was excellent. The view of the gardens and city was lovely.

Mathius Permana

Bad attitude. Closed when they were supposed to be open. No apologies. Google said they were open until 5 p.m. The pamphlets at the door of the Tea house indicated the same. We always bring our guests thee. My wife and guest arrived at 4:10 pm, tired after a day of visiting Victoria and were greeted by a surly waiter who told them they closed at 4. What? The flier says 5 pm. No explanation. No apology. Very poor "service". We won't be back to this place.

I had the best time there with my mom and 3 year old daughter. The staff was so kind to my daughter! They gave her little teacups and pot to use and a little pitcher of cold water to make her tea her perfect temperature. We all absolutely loved our food and tea. Great atmosphere. Would love to go back the next time I am in Victoria.

The teahouse was exceptional with outstanding food, presentation and service plus the staff accommodated my party without reservations. The room where tea is served is lovely and showcased a number of paintings. A larger selection of BC artisan products would have been appreciated in the rather sparse gift store. The gardens themselves are interesting especially how the Prince and Princess incorporated the natural existing landscape but I think the real show is probably in the spring when the rhodos and azaleas are in bloom.

Terrific tea! Would highly recommend tea here over the more touristy option at the Empress Hotel. Great service! Eat outside if it’s a pretty day. It feels like you’re in The Secret Garden!

Had a really great time here. Order two elevenses. Josh was an excellent server as well - high spirited and made guests feel very welcomed.

Lovely garden setting for tea. We sat outdoors and got the 'Afternoon tea' which came on a 3-tiered tray. Although the portions look small, they can get quite filling as you work your way up. The Abkhazi royal tea blend went very well with the food. Carry something to cover your head on a warm, sunny day if you are sitting outside. Also, expect the occasional bee that will hum around your food if you are sitting outside as the teahouse is set in a garden. They also have an indoor tea room where they serve food.

Afternoon tea was delicious and service was great. The grounds were beautiful. A great blue heron made a visit which was really neat. It was a nice bike ride from downtown Victoria to the tea house and staff gave us great recommendations for scenic routes in the area. Would highly recommend the teahouse and the journey there if visiting Victoria

Picturesque afternoon tea place. Three options available for afternoon tea. Got the mid tier one which is more than enough food. Good selection of teas. There should be something you like. Loved the Earl Grey Neapolitan cake!

Overlooking the beautiful garden is a calming experience, as is the smaller dining space. The charming tea sets add to the deliciously brewed tea. Meals are beautifully presented and the staff are cheerful and attentive.

Paul Van Buekenhout

Great atmosphere! Lovely staff, along with a great view over looking their garden!

Our experience here was relatively nice. Me and the gals decided to treat ourselves to an early spring tea. we got a very nice young lady as a server. We discovered there was a minimum spending of $16.50 and to say we were appalled would be a fitting statement. Not to say me and the ladies don’t have the money! we are all woman of means. #LOL. The tea was good… but the scones were amazing! #I❤️Scones. I prefer not to say the soup of the day due to privacy reasons, but what I will say it was lacking in the flavour department! We arrived right at opening time and ordered several soups of the day, but to our dismay they only had enough for half of the group :( there was a required tip of 18% for tables over 6… shocking! We would have tipped well regardless but I feel it was irritating of them. The most disappointing part of our experience was that one of us has a serious nut allergy and we were ensured that the soup had absolutely no nuts, and yet she reacted to the food soon after eating. Overall made some good memories and had a lovely time.

Absolutely horrible and INCONSIDERATE customer service at the teahouse. My family and I came in at around noon as walk-ins as we had called a few days before asking for a response to a reservation request made a week before that which they never answered to. They were booked but said that they we could walk-in the day of if we came before the afternoon rush. So we came in around noon, and they put us down on a waiting-list and told us to come between 1:30-2 p.m. So we waited for OVER an hour and a half, and we came back at 1:40 p.m. to which they said they could no longer accommodate us due to being busy and fully booked. WHAT?! They WASTED OUR TIME by making us wait until then and only told us when we came back that they could no longer accommodate us?! UNPROFESSIONAL service as they should've just told us from THE START at noon when we first walked in that they couldn't accommodate us so that we didn't waste our time. We were supposed to have a birthday celebration and celebrate with afternoon tea and my sister was looking forward to this place because of the wonderful reviews (we enjoy afternoon tea and have gone to many in Vancouver where we live), and this place didn't EVEN HAVE THE DECENCY to tell us ahead of time that they wouldn't be able to take us. I would suggest going to these other teahouses listed below over this one if you're in Victoria because at least the Pendray and White Heather places had the decency to tell us they were booked for the day instead of putting us on some make-believe waitlist that only wasted our time: 1) Pendray Inn and Tea House 2) White Heather Tea Room 3) The Dining Room at The Butchart Gardens

We enjoyed the royal high tea here after a long morning of kayaking. Make a reservation to guarantee a spot and you will not be disappointed. Smoked salmon with caviar was excellent as were all of the other items. Wonderful service as well.

We really enjoyed the afternoon tea here. Friendly service, nice garden for a quick stroll after a delicious meal. My friend went crazy for their clotted cream. The scones were yummy and the sandwiches were all different and delectable.

Delightful experience. Romantic atmosphere. Perfect for a tea date or even a baby shower. When we arrived we walked through the beautiful gardens. These grounds are maintained so lovingly. We had a fairly early Tea time so we were the first ones inside. The room was bright and overlooking the gardens. We had a cute little table next to the window. The food was delicious and the tea was SO good. The devonshire cream was sinfully good. We look forward to visiting again when we come to Victoria. This place is the real deal. Good serving sizes. Reasonable Price.

Amber Peters

Gorgeous garden with a wonderful view. Had the Elevenses and it was just excellent. The tea was so tasty with a bit of milk and sugar - goes so well with the buttery pastries. Very filling meal. If you plan to have something more substantial like the afternoon tea, the server let us know most people skip breakfast and lunch in order to have room for all the goodies!

Eric Couineau

Great tea and wonderful soup and scones. The gardens are lovely.

Beautiful garden with great food. Tea are special blend suited for the meal.

We loved the experience of winding our way through the peaceful garden to the teahouse. We weren't very hungry so we opted for the Elevenses tea. It was the right amount for our appetite at the time. The Silk Road tea was delicious. I chose the Earl Gray.

Mari Chambers

The service was good and the atmosphere was very cute and pleasant. The food all tasted delicious and the garden is a nice place to take a stroll after your meal.

Jennica SW

Wonderful Victoria style afternoon tea experience. Our waitress is the best one you can find in Victoria— hosting us with hospitality and kindness❤️. The view and sunshine was splendid as well.

Lovely relaxing stroll through gardens. Volunteers very helpful when discussing various plant types and names! Lunch was spectacular. Had the Georgian lunch in honour of the Prince. Such a love story!!

A little busy, a little little, but still lovely and worth all of the praise. We had tea for $38 a person, and it was very tasty and good value compared to the even more tourist focused places. Servers were Uber friendly and the food really was very tasty.

Thiago Hinkel

The gardens are beautiful. We shared an elevensie and an afternoon tea set. Both were delicious.

A truly pleasant experience! Food was delicious, especially the sweet scone. It was currant and citrus peel. So good that I didn't eat half of it with any jam or clotted cream! Never has this happened in my many years of having high tea. It had great hight, crispy bottom, and the dough was not over worked ???? I even got an extra one to go. The pastry on our asparagus and guyere tart was exceptionally flakey. The sauagse roll was also wonderful, very tasty and hearty; it featured sausage from Salt Spring Island. I'm term's of service, Josh was a friggen delight to talk to! He was friendly, polite, and asked us about how we were enjoying the tea and food. He was so genuine and made the tea that much more enjoyable. Thank you, Josh!kop

Great High Tea experience in a simple, yet lovely setting. Highly recommended as an excellent alternative to the usual suspects in town.

As regular Afternoon Tea connoisseurs who have experienced Tea at every establishment in Victoria (and beyond), we are knowledgable with what is required for a GOOD Afternoon Tea. PROS: The setting inside and out was lovely. The teahouse appeared clean. The food items tasted fresh and the scones were tasty and ample sized. Tea selection was good. CONS: Service was just okay - throughout our Tea, the server made no attempt to be engaging in any way. The savoury plate items were very minimal in relation to the price, and, in comparison with other good Afternoon Tea places. Lastly, we were overcharged by $25 and we had to bring it to the servers attention after payment was processed. We will be taking this place off our list for annual Tea visits.

I love this place for two reasons; the garden is absolutely beautiful to stroll around, and the food is delicious. This is a great place to enjoy a quiet course of high tea and take in the beautiful garden view while doing so. Definitely call in beforehand to make a reservation, as with most tea houses. Also despite going during winter, the garden was still worth seeing. There's also a cute little gift shop with a sweet little selection of floral and tea related goods.

Came here for afternoon tea, and I was thoroughly pleased! I've done afternoon tea in other parts of Canada as well as London, and this one definitely ranks highly. Many places in Canada don't even bother with clotted cream, but here the scones were perfect and accompanied with delicious jam and clotted cream. Keeps with traditional offerings, but without being too bland; the four course includes some cooked pastries as well as the classic cucumber sandwich. Desserts were well made with just the perfect amount of sweetness. Lovely garden atmosphere too. Would definitely recommend!

It was a memorable experience at the tea house. Both my boyfriend and I were amazed by the waitress. The COVID Protocols were very reliable, too. One of the highlights is the homemade jam. We decided to buy this jam! Before we were seated and left, we had a chance to visit the gift shop, and we had a great time.

This is a charming place for afternoon tea. The backdrop of the garden is the perfect complement to tea. The prices seem steep, but afternoon tea in Victoria is always expensive and it's nowhere near the price of tea at the Fairmont Empress. There is the option to sit inside or outside. There is a bathroom and a gift shop.

Jessie Yu

Amazing. The atmosphere was perfect and the staff were flawless. The tea itself was lovely and the food excellent. If it hadn't been raining I would have loved to sit outside.

Food itself is okay, better than average high tea places. However, we were not satisfied with the overall service. We had a total of 9 people (including three kids) at 11am. I called well in advance (a month in advance) and asked about the choice of menu due to some dietary restrictions (I.e. diabetics). The person who took the call said there is an a la carte menu or a lunch menu so whoever that did not want regular high tea can order that. On the day before our reservation, they called to confirm and I asked to have a table so all of us can sit together (this was after the restrictions were lifted) and she said she should be able to do that. Upon arrival, we were told we cannot sit together, and that they don't offer other menu other than high tea. WHAT THE HECK! AND on top of that, they told us that they will charge us 18% gratuity for table over 6 (but realistically, we were separated into two tables with one that sits 6 and the other 3)...So how is this different from just serving two separate tables for different clients. Fine with the tips, right before 12:30pm, the server told us that we only have 1.5 hours (I guess that included all the vaccine passport checking? They also did not mention this at time of booking nor at confirmation for our booking, they only kept emphasizing the 18% tips... ) for each sitting and asked to pack everything on our table and cleared up many of the plates and rushed us to leave. I am sorry, but for 18% tips at over $300 spending, I expected a more relaxed environment and service. We were NOT even asked if the teapots need to be refilled, until I had to ask when the server comes out from the kitchen area. It is not our fault that there is only one server and service was slow and we need to adhered with the time restriction. Lastly, don't trust their machine...Their 18% tips is MORE than the actual 18% amount if you calculate it on your own! Really!? I believe they calculate tips on top of taxes... I personally hate mandatory tipping as the server don't do anything as they know they will get the tips anyways. Not returning. Period.

Not my type of food, but I'm a really picky eater. My girlfriend loved it, the tea was amazing, the desserts were amazing, the scones were perfect, and the view was awe inspiring. I'd go here for afternoon or high tea. Next time I'm going to try the lunch menu! Our server was a nice young man who was very accomadating. He allowed us to move outside due to the heat and did so in a timely manner while helping other guests. A great multitasker! I respect those that can do that.

Chris Sandeman

I made a reservation for three ladies, two were visitors and one resident. One advantage of going to this tea house is the different levels and prices of the tea. We ordered the elevenses and all agreed it was ample food. The food was delicious. the server friendly and the ambience perfect. We all agreed it was an excellent choice for a lovely tea. We enjoyed strolling through the beautiful garden. It really was an exceptional experience and we would highly recommend the Abkhazi Teahouse and Garden.

I had a very unpleasant experience here at the teahouse. There was a miscommunication between me and the staff who picked up the phone who made a reservation for us. The staff said it was pet-friendly and we can enjoy afternoon tea with our dogs (mini poodles) as long as we sit outside at the patio seat. I was so glad to hear that because I know not a lot of places do this. However when we got here, a senior staff only told us we got the wrong information and was in a hurry to make us decide whether we want to keep the reservation or not without an apology. I understand miscommunication can happen, and we were not going to force ourselves in but being treated in such a condescending way and turned away without an apology was very upsetting. We came all the way from Vancouver and postponed our trip to other towns just for this but I felt like we were treated very poorly especially when the whole mistake was made by the teahouse staff member who told us the wrong information and have us come all the way here in the first place... I heard that the afternoon tea is delicious in this place and I was so excited to try it with my mom. I hope the customer service improves and that the teahouse makes sure to tell your guests the correct information when they call to make a reservation in the future.
