A very cozy place which is perfect for evening when most restaurants are closed in downtown! The food was super delicious, the service was a bit on slow side as all tables were full and there was a huge lineup. The staff were beyond friendly, they even gave us recommendations for places to visit in town.
I had the most amazing lunch! My friend and I shared calamari, and then ordered the fettuccine salsa rose and the seafood fettuccine. Both were AMAZING. I will recommend this place again and again, the food was to die for. The service was a little slower than I prefer for a workday lunch, but it was still only a little over an hour, and it is a tapas bar. Expect to enjoy the company of the people you are with. :)
A lovely little tapas shop in the center of Trouble Alley. They had tasty shareables and a good drink menu if you like cocktails - which I do!
I really enjoyed a quiet lunch here. Well not super quiet. The bg music is energetic, not cliche Latin tunes. Service was excellent. The mussels with lime and ginger were fabulous. But of focaccia on the side and an app of a vegetarian Evanescence. Mmmmm.
Fast friendly staff made sure was taken care of
Great tapas restaurant! Go for the tostada, the mushrooms are fantastic. Stay away from the margarita pizza. (It was really bland, sorry) but overall everything was tasty and atmosphere was great.
I highly recommend the Tapa bar. We ended up trying the Tapa dinner for two. A great atmosphere, very tasty !!!! ????????
The food was Ok. Expensive for the quality. Nothing to right home about.
Welcoming friendly stuff. Great food. Cozy and chill. Loved drink menu, great choice of wine option
Great place to dine with friends
Food was good, service good BUT the music was sooooo loud that we had to yell at each other when deciding what to order. Asked for the music t be turned done, it was a but we still had to yell our order to the waitress. Asked again for the music To be turned down. Was informed by waitress that she was just a minion & wasn't listened to. I then asked t speak to the manager. No manager came but the music was turned down to an acceptable level. This music was not just a little loud, it was burst your eardrums loud. I had thought that the noise level in a restaurant was only suppose to be so many decibels.

Excellent service, great food, great selection. We made multiple visits. Hit Happy Hour from 3 to 5pm.
Incredible food, a must visit when in Victoria. Do not sleep on the Muscles De Cha Cha Cha, and Bacon wrapped dates
Excellent food and atmosphere. OK service.
Very popular restaurant. Good food, Excellent presentation. Great service. 10 of us enjoyed sharing small plates.
So many great options. Ordered 4 items and each was delicious. Prawns in coconut milk were great. Same with the almond stuffed dates.
A party of 8-9 of us ate at the restraunt, service was exceptional. Two waitresses tended to our larger table. Not all of us were drinking, i usually find that servers gravitate to people bringing in higher bills i.e. more drinks and dont check in on non alcoholic beverages, that was not the case. I dont recall a moment where my water glass was empty, usually got refilled even if it was half full. Food felt pricier than regular restraunts, for the portion, but had great taste. Overall a very positive experience, I have only been here maybe once or twice before but after this past visit it will be on my radar more and I'll be talking positively about this place, A+ to the Thursday night crew!
Not a bad spot.. the shrimp dishes were amazing! Also recommend the stuffed dates!
A very nice meal during happy hour. The mussels and wings were delicious, creme brulee trio finished it. Great service and very good value.
My husband and I took my parents here when they were visiting, since it's one of our favorite places in Victoria. My parents are very honest when they don't like something, but they could not stop talking for literally the entire meal about how great everything was! The food here is fantastic- spiced and cooked and presented perfectly. There are lots of tapas options and also entree options for any of your guests who aren't into tapas. Great cocktails and drink options. The ambiance is unbeatable and the service is always good. I cannot recommend enough the need for reservations in the evenings as the place gets very busy, for good reason! My only complaint is you can't reserve the patio area, the best seats of all. Regardless, it's worth the wait.
Just go there! Fantastic food and a great atmosphere.
Order the chipotle prawns or spicy mussels.
Superbly friendly staff. Food was very underwhelming.
It was alright. Staff were amazing.
Extremely tasty food. A bit small on the portions for the price but REALLY tasty.
I first went in for my 18th birthday. 23yrs later, it's still a great restaurant. Great place for date night. Chili garlic mussles were fantastic!
Sangria Sundays, mussles de Cha Cha, ravioli, carrots, and bacon wrapped dates are always great. Service is always good, and the patio is nice in the summer.
We waited at the front door for about 4 minutes and waitresses walked by us for a while and no one greeted us or told us what to do even though there was a sign saying “wait to be seated”. We were sat under a weird zombie-like fluorescent-colored light which made our food look even blander than it tasted. The drinks were good. The food, however, was quite poor and the worst we had during our entire trip in Victoria. We can make better food at home. Uninspired flavours and poor presentation/plating. We didn’t finish some of the plates since they just didn’t taste good.
Food was delicious, service was very friendly and efficient. A little short on staff, but our server was very good. Really enjoyed the grilled carrots, garlic shrimp, and chorizo, mushroom pizza.
Favorite downtown restaurant. Interesting cuban food and music, great prices. Take friends there when the visit.
Delicious food, lovely service and a great happy hour! Sangria was yummy and the bacon wrapped dates were unreal. Garlic prawns were delicious and the waitress brought us more bread to sop up the delicious butter/wine sauce as we couldn’t bear to leave it. Also had the spicy mussels which were great. A little pricy if you aren’t there for happy hour but worth it for the quality of food and service. Highly recommend!
Dinner
Romantic and full of character, food was fresh and with amazing flavours, had the grilled eggplant with goat cheese and tomato and basil and it was exceptional, nifty unique drink menu and amazing desert, service was top notch too even with a full house. Overall great experience highly recommend
Great food, a little pricey but fantastic service

Dinner
Always a good time here. The tapas menu is comprehensive. The Almond stuffed dates are delicious. The chorizo with mustard! The wine selection is good and rotates. Always a few wonderful Spanish varieties on hand. I've only ever sat at the bar but that's fine because it's spacious. I will say I am giving 4 stars because the food is not always consistent. Especially chocolate mousse portions :)
yep, that is right, pretty much hated it, the only redeeming factor was our server who was very nice, great sense of humour and is the only reason we didn't walk out. Food was mediocre, olives were the best item, calmari was barely cooked, mushy, came out of the kitchen too fast, they were rushing us to get the table for a reservation that had not arrived and was not due for another hour. hostess was an absolute _____tch. She does not know how to handle a dining room that takes reservations. Rude, and condescending, this is the second time we have received this type of treatment at this restaurant, life is too short to waste ones fun time, many other great places in town.
Food was really tasty and the service was good.
This is probably one of my favourite, if not favourite, restaurants in Victoria. The atmosphere is quaint, sexy, and the food is delicious. I've been coming here for years and each experience is always phenomenal. Highly recommended whether you live in Victoria or you are visiting from out of town. Try the shrimp appetizer...
After reading a few of the reviews, we were concerned that the service was not going to be good. The exact opposite was the case. The service was awesome! Thanks for wonderful night.
We had a fantastic girls night here, the food was delicious. We ordered every appy on the happy hour menu, thank you so much!!
Delicious tapas, cool atmosphere and awesome cocktails!
Amazing restaurant with a really interesting menu. Particularly liked the bacon wrapped figs with blue cheese, the focaccia bread, and the coconut shrimp. Also a great selection of unique cocktails, all in a cute and trendy location on Trounce Alley.
Love this spot!! We had delicious food and drinks! I discovered Pisco here - the bartender was super helpful in explaining what it was and sharing more fun info on the drinks menu. We really liked sitting at the bar - the customer service was incredible! The calamari and ceviche was so yumm! Highly recommend!! Can’t wait to come back ourselves. ☺️
Great food, local wine and atmosphere

Good place for dinner, good vibe
Great food, especially the tapas platter for two but extremely unfriendly service
I am not kidding if I say it was once of the most tasteful meal that I had ever. I might was hungry but wow it was an explosion of taste in my mouth. The pollo almanda was really ????
It was wonderful. Loved the food , drinks and the service
Dates with bacon in a reduction sauce - delicious !????
Nice location with a cutesy outdoor area, but fairly miserable staff and AWFUL food. Some of the worst food I’ve had in a long time, and definitely the worst tapas
This place is so delicious!! The atmosphere, the wine and the food!! Outstanding it really is!! Plus it’s not even hard on the wallet!! Say what??!
We had a nice evening and good food. Good portion for two.
Great casual atmosphere. The white Sangria was a nice refreshing drink before we shared the grilled kale, calamari, mussels and pizza. The mussels were amazing with the garlic tomato sauce. Best sauce I have ever tasted with mussels. There is also bread with the mussels which is a good value.
Unfortunately the service was bad, the food was pretty okay. Nice environment. Hope the service improves.
We’ve been here many times over the years, since 2007, and surprisingly and happily it's still here. We’ve brought and or recommended friends and family to come here since our 1st visit. Upon our return last week we were happy to enjoy the crazy good muscles but the salad with brown butter & capers was a huge disappointment and the wings even more so. To be fair, it was a holiday wknd and the staff, especially the bartender was working hard! Even so, I doubt we’d be back. Great memories but doubtful we’d come back with so many other options in Victoria now.
Good food and really friendly staff. I'll always come back here when I'm in Victoria❤
I go here every time I'm in Victoria and the meal is never short of stunning. Everything is delicious and service is fantastic. Prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of food. Almond-stuffed dates are a must try.
The drinks are amazing, try the mussels they runs out pretty fast! (august)
Always great food, yummy drinks, and great vibes! One of my favs!
Chorizo fondue is really good, you'll be sad it's not larger. The tostada is also very good. Wish I had gotten dessert they have a trio of creme brulee and a caramel bread pudding.
The drinks were a bit expensive but the food was great. Nice place to spend time with friends.
The ambiance is nice. The food is thoroughly ok. I saw mice 4 times while sitting on the patio for 90 minutes.
Good atmosphere. Good food, skip the fried squid.
Good food, limited draft, hope you like yelling at your date because that's the music volume on a Wednesday night!
This tapas restaurant in a small alley is a lovely surprise. We found this place when wandering around downtown Victoria. They open late and serve good quality food. Almost everything is delicious and fresh. The only complaint I have is the tortillas chips. It's a bit old and too salty. but other than that, we are pleased with the service and quality of the cuisine. Will definitely come back.
Dinner
Terrible service. Not a lot of care about customers. Only interested in getting people in and out. Do not advise.
The food and our server were amazing. The reason I’m giving three stars is because of the blonde hostess that was working on Saturday night August 24th. Extremely rude and condescending, made us feel very uncomfortable. People like that shouldn’t be working in customer service.
I have gone here several times over the years but this past week went a gain and was very disappointed in the service and food seems prices are up and food tastes and value are down. Also Dark Beer drinkers we Drink it year round. Unlike others so get a good dark beer on tap .
Awesome food, service and atmosphere - will be back!
Service
Worst tapas I've seen. It's a mix of Mexicali fusion but nothing Spanish tapas on there.
Great good, friendly service. Put up with a couple of loud impatient drunk people at my table and were still pleasant to deal with! Thanks Tapa bar!
Delicious food and a great mix of flavors. Wether you're ordering a meal for yourself or a bunch of Tapas to share everything is delicious.
Might be my favorite spot in town. Always great service, food speaks for itself - amazing!
One of the best spots in Victoria. Food, service, music, atmosphere all 10/10
if you're a seafood fan like me you'll absolutely love the 'mussels de cha cha cha' - they're to die for! music is always great and service is always friendly.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Victoria - I've been going to the tapa bar for years. There are so many delicious tapas, the sangria is good & I love to atmosphere.
Always super friendly staff and fantastic food. I recommend the steamed Pollo Armando (?)..
Cozy place ,very good food, very nice music,!!!
Never disappointed, always a good choice.
Delicious tapas, great cocktails.
Delicious food and fun atmosphere.
Food and atmosphere were great
Incredible food and fun atmosphere!
Nice place. Food was average. Lack of flavours.
The service here is rubbish and the food is so so. The servers here are so mean and never help with my orders. Will never come to this restaurant again.
I absolutely love the food and drinks.
Quite expensive for smaller portions but good food. The shrimp was delicious.
Great cocktails, food and service. The Artist cocktail and the bacon wrapped dates are fantastic! Good atmosphere but load with a full house.
For many years, business trips allowed me to dine in Victoria. This became my go to place for great food, and wonderful atmosphere. In more than 50 visits they have never put a foot wrong or disappointed me in the slightest - and I am not easy to please. While I tend only to review restaurants that deserve praise, I hope my five stars for the tapa bar be seen for what they are: recognition of an experience well done!
Great drinks, superb chilled ambience. The bartender service was AMAZING!!
Great spot! Cozy atmosphere, great staff and lots of tasty options. Thanks!
Ok food. Ok service for the price. Just got no sense of love or passion when we just wanted a little sense of place. The staff almost pretended to care we were there.
Absolutely delicious tapas! Honestly the best I've ever had. I recommend the almond stuffed dates wrapped in bacon. Just thinking about them makes me hungry.
Dine in
Good food and drinks but service is on the slow side and tipping option starts at 20% which is a bit much for average service. The bacon wrapped dates are a must try!
An intimate place with great tapas. A wide variety of options. Ready good service.
Best restaurant in Victoria, hands down.
The small plates are to die for! You must try the baked tortalinni.
It was nice sitting out on the patio and we got a table right away. The food was good and also lots for the price. I think our service could have been a little faster though. We waited to ask for drinks, food, dessert and the bill, including walking around trying to find the server once. Still a staple in the city and will go again.
Great date spot, highly recommend.
This place exceeded expectations all around. The muscles were amazing, we even kept the sauce to dip other dishes in! The kale was simple but flavourful and the prawns were perfectly cooked. Definitely worth trying.
The food and atmosphere is incredible. Definitely a hidden gem within our city. The mussels are next level good here!
Omg! My man and I went for an early Valentines dinner and honestly the best food we have eaten in a long time! We are foodies and we were so impressed.Just a food flavor explosion !!! Great service and a cozy atmosphere.
Cool Atmosphere, poor service, and sub-par food. Ordered the rice&beans... Received canned beans microwaved without any sauce or spice and plain, white jasmine rice. Huge let-down. Will not be back.
Dinner
Nice restaurant and decent food, I loved most of my meal but the olives were a bit of a let down.. not the end of the world and overall I enjoyed my dishes. Our server was fantastic but another server on duty was a little rude. Overall good experience for a quiet night.
Everything is scrumptious. Try to get an outside table.
Nice and cozy and awesome staff great drinks and food
Excellent food but a bit of the pricey side - usually around CAD 10-12 per tapa order. Obviously can't be compared to the 1 euro tapas in Spain but they're comparable to the other restaurants in the area. Service was good and would recommend their red wine sangria and sharing plate.
The food was so good and the price was reasonable. Will definitely go back.
I had a great time here. It's very lively and crowded, but fosters an intimacy with your guests, regardless. The food was good, as was the merlot.
Had a very lovely evening at the tapa bar. We didnt make reservations and got lucky to get in! We were visiting Victoria and wanted to go to a cool local restaurant and we hit the jackpot. Lucky we got a table cause it was packed! Great food and drinks. It's in a super cool location kinda hidden in a alley. We had a number of great dishes from pizza, to shrimp, to pasta and chicken wings. All delicious
Service
Tapa Bar is my favourite restaurant in Victoria, hands down. The food is always consistent and absolutely delicious. The service here is top notch, best servers in Victoria in my opinion. Tapa Bar is a great spot for every occasion, from some tasty happy hour snacks to a special evening out. Definitely try out their Mussels de Cha Cha Cha - I dream about them, they’re that good!!
This place keeps me coming back time after time. I love the food, the drinks, the staff, and the atmosphere. Tucked away in a side-alley strung with golden lights and a patio warmed with lanterns, the aesthetics are as pleasing as the dishes. As I continued to show up more often, the staff were so welcoming and inviting - they make me feel like I'm at home and are always happy to see me.Their sangria - both red & white - is by far the best in town, not to mention very affordable! They are not just tapas, but also meals - so you can get the experience of both. Highly recommend the roasted chicken salad, calamari, creme brulee, and any seasonal drink special! Thanks for being one of my favourite places to go!
Very cool vibe!! Awesome food with lots of vegetarian and some vegan options too. This little gem is worth popping in and having a glass of wine with some yummy tapas!! It's very rustic and classy. ????
Came here for dinner with my family. We ordered the platter for two, mussels and we loved it. The mussels were fresh, food was nice and service was very good.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Victoria. Great food. Great service. The ambience can't be beat!
We visited the tapa bar Saturday, September 21st at 8pm to have an uncomfortable experience. We had a reservation and to my disappointment, we were rudely greeted at the door. Then we were left with a very unfriendly server with black hair and glasses.. I’m not sure if she was having a bad night but she seemed very annoyed with anything we asked and ruined our dining experience.. the food was great but sadly we won’t be returning due to this experience.
Plates are made to share which makes for a very fun evening out with friends. Enjoyed all our dishes.
Good dining place if you want to try variety of food. Price is within the average, and the meal is great. Environment was a little too dim, unable to see most of thing, but bright enough to enjoy the food and read the menu. The order of a tapa platter is definitely enough for two People, with their endless supply of bread on the side. This place was slower than usual, however that does fit the atmosphere around the dinning area.
Great wine selection!!! Ordered a variety and enjoyed it all. The cheesecake was superb. Thanks for a great evening!!!
Really good food - loved the curry prawn dish and wings. The halibut ceviche was just alright - but I’m learning that ceviches tend to be just fresh and spicy/flavoured. Great atmosphere!
Excellent tapas, friendly staff, fault safe in covid time
As a Victoria local, I wholeheartedly believe this is one of the best restaurants in town. The food, drinks and service are always shockingly good.
There's always a nice rustic atmosphere in this place and I've never had any problems with the service.
great meal, nice ambiance. we loved the portugese sardines, pollo cubano, and fiery mussels.
Amazingly good food, great location, friendly and helpful staff but the music is too loud. I leave with a sore throat because I have to yell at my dinner companions.
Meal type
Great drink offerings and tapas. We have loved absolutely everything we have tried here!! A favorite date night outing. ????
Meal type
I don’t like the food here, it is too sour for me, and we just wanted a machine for the bill, we waited for it over 30min, service is very bad and the food was terrible! We won’t come back! So horrible experience!!!!!
Love sitting at the bar .... great date spot
Good food & service - reasonable prices. Noisy ( it's a happening ) place when busy.
This is one of my Victoria go-to spots and have always had the most consistently great food, service, and vibe. Sitting on the patio is like being in a quaint little tapa bar in Spain
Delicious! Great selection of tapas and very cozy vibe.
Easily best restaurant I've been to in Victoria. The fact that I've been visiting Victoria since 2005 and this was my first visit is a disservice to my taste buds
Consistently delicious, great service.
My food seemed under seasoned and frankly a bit bland, not to mention very slow service when wanting your bill. And it shouldn't have a suggested 25% tip for such an underwhelming restaurant. There are other better places for tapas in my opinion.
Meal type
Food is good, warm atmosphere. Tapa portions on the small side. Go for 1.5 per person for a normal meal.
Warm atmosphere, friendly service. Not really a Spanish tapas experience, but definetely a nice local interpretation of it.
They laughed as she showed my receipt to other people, telling them that she 'knew' I'd do that (didn't tip). Never ever going back.
Friendly staff, excellent food, great drinks. Love this place.
Great food, great service, decent local beer selection. Reservations are a good idea for busy time. Great vegetarian selections. Prices for portions are decent. This is our go to place for nice meal out
We were in Victoria for couple of days and a friend recommended us to try this place.I discover Tapas in a visit to barcelona last year and this is far from what i experienced in Spain. The service is awesome, very friendly and fast, The sangria was awesome i recommend it for happy hour, but the overpriced wings were a disapointment. The baked oyster were okay, i don't think i would order that anymore i had a very chewy piece and i had to spit it out...They give you a lot of bread which give that sensation of being filled... The salad was good but also overpriced. i don't think i would go back again.
Mussels de Cha Cha Cha are a must. The rest is about three or five dollars overpriced per plate for what it is - cost about a quarter of a round trip to Madrid. I realize the place was understaffed but the service itself was poor when it did come around.
Very good food, lovely people, nice service, elegant atmosphere
Great food, great vibe. This has been a favourite of mine for years, and never fails to deliver.
Loved the service, awesome drink selections and phenomenal food selections.
I love the Tapas Bar. I adore specific dishes and their red wine sangria. Their space has hosted many of my favourite meals and memories with special friends and family. The ambiance is wonderful and in the summer sitting on the patio in the well lit and romantic alley is wonderful. I must order: bacon wrapped dates, patas bravas with the aioli, the grilled kale, mussels de cha cha cha and a melty cheese chorizo fondue. I love their olives, carrots, artichokes and pesto pizza. The chicken wings are great. The grilled chorizo is delectable. I pretty much love it all. The purple walls in the bathroom make me happy. I go back to sip sangria, snack on excellent tapas and catch up with great friends. That's what good dates at The Tapas Bar are about.
Delicious mussels! Delicious food! Amazing service! Highly recommend. I will forever be craving the delicious spicy mussels dish until I return back to BC!
Great atmosphere. Fantastic service. Mussels were tasty. Skip the pizza. Other tapas looked tasty.
Excellent atmosphere. Excellent food. Had the chicken pollo and the soup was to awsome.
Great food and atmosphere, every time. A local favorite that we keep coming back to!
A very awesome spot to bring a date or just get drunk by yourself.... Oh and the carrots... Amazing!! Also some great cocktails. When in Vic its a must stop shop.
The food is so good, service is great too.
Friendly staff, tasty food. The share plate is great!
Two words, "baked tortellini". Great wine selection also.
Some of the best food in Victoria! Great wine great food and awesome environment. Will definitely be back next time we’re in town!
Always a nice evening out @ Tapa Bar. Been going for years. Great menu selection & great service; especially, from the bartender Kellie/Kelly!
Cozy cafe with delicious food and great service. Lots of options to choose from.
Good service, great food, pretty good happy hour. The bacon wrapped dates and the grilled kale are amazing!

The best mussels I’ve ever had!! It’s a must here!
Great food, service was hit or miss. But we sat outside in a colder evening. The mussels cha cha cha were to die for, but the baked oysters were a bit off. Overall, very cool place. Worth a try.
Great place in Victoria for a romantic date night, lovely patio for the summer, great food and drinks. Check it out!
The drinks were great but the bartender complained they weren't just a drinks bar when we went in for one cocktail only. Could pin that down to one person's bad night I guess. Left a sour taste in a paying patrons mouth. Thanks for the experience...
Trendy atmosphere, the white wine chicken wings with garlic were bland, however service was attentive. Nice drink options and specials. They have lovely fresh fruit sangria in pitchers as an option.
Some times you want a little of something, and then a little of something else, and, "Oh, look, a third thing." Especially when it's fresh, healthy, flavourful, and delicious.
The cha cha mussels tho!!! Amazing!
I ordered a marinated portabella mushroom appetizer, which was not my favorite. I also got the Gambas Chipotle; this was good! Overall, I'd say food was good.
Yummy yummy! Those almond dates were so good! It’s also in the cutest area :)
Very well priced for what you get. Everything we ordered was yummy and the ambiance was great!
Service
I used to go there with a group of coworkers, but we WON'T go back again because, first of all, now they are charging you for 18% of gratitude with no chance of changing it. Then, when they give you the card reader to pay, they ask for tips????? Unbelievable!!! Also, the service is very slow.
We went to enjoy eating on the patio. Nice tapa dishes to share with the table. Friendly staff and local beer!
A nice tapas place with a good cocktail menu. Nice to see a mix of traditional Spanish and Portuguese on the menu. We found it reasonable in price, and the patio offers fantastic people watching.
The servers did a good job of managing a group of 9 so that we could be safe and enjoy a happy birthday lunch outdoors with good friends. Lunch was good, dessert was better!
We had dinner there and we had no regret about it. Food was delicious specially the pasta was a pleasure. The service was so nice. Definitely a must go at Victoria Island.
Amazing food and service. The bacon wrapped dates are super addicting
Loud place but the food was well worth it. Will come back.
Love the sangria and the small bites to share! Yummy!
The atmosphere was upbeat and inviting, great food and the staff were very friendly and lots of fun! We'll definitely go back when in Victoria!
It's been around for quite a while now, and it's just as good as it always has been. That in itself is quite a rarity. The food was great, very unique flavors in Victoria. Service was excellent also.

The happy hour spicy mussels were some of the best we’ve ever had!! Would highly recommend!!
worst ever. tostada. sloppy, soggy, watery, smelled bad. Ate what I had to. Will never return. My lunch companion's "tapas" didn't look much better, deep fried whatever. Over priced. Fairly typical of Victoria eateries.
Tapas restaurant in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Sister restaurant to Bodega, which is next door and more expensive. Nice atmosphere and hard working staff. Our party of 4 arrived at 6:45 pm and was seated promptly. Unfortunately, some of the dishes were not good. For example, the sradine dish was burnt with very little edible meat and a mess of bones. Also, the chicken breast was tough and not good at all. Other dishes were good, like the seafood fettuccini and the tortilla soup. The overall bad taste from the burnt sardine dish and tough chicken breast plate left us needing to find something sweet to replace those lingering flavors. A bit pricy for less-than-flavorful small plates.
I highly recommend this wonderful dining experience!
One of my favorite places to go to when we come to Victoria. We literally go everytime were here. Make sure you make a reso because they are close to full from 5pm on, not sure about week days as I only come on weekends
Great service, mussels cha cha was fantastic really good mussels in a spicy garlic sauce. Seafood fettuccine also delicious.
Such a nice experience! We had the big tapas plate for two and it was divine. Nice vibe for a Victoria spot and delicious cocktails. Highly recommend!
Love this place...great vibe awesome bar..food is outstanding..now I want chipotle prawns.
So so Good!!
Meal type
My favourite restaurant in Victoria. I’m always bugging my friends to come here because I can’t get enough of their mussels!
Have loved this place for years, and tonight was no exception. Amazing food, slightly slow service but it was packed so that was no surprise and our server was as attentive as she could be in the circumstances. Have been before, will happily go again. Great place to go when bringing parents who are eating extremely low carb, haha.
The red wine sangria is a great deal and really well done. We did the shared platter and a few extras and everything was enjoyable and sating. Between four our of us we spent 35$ each which allowed us two pitchers of sangria, the platter for two, and five other plates. We were hardly able to finish everything, and all left full and satisfied. The vegetable tostada was my favorite plate, a must try if you're a mushroom lover
Such good food. It has been my birthday treat for five years in a row now. The sauces are incredible and the sangria is great!
Chicken wings and sangria are fantastic and their Covid protocols were thorough and upheld properly
Great service and food was really good. Lots of selection and great prawns!
Lovely place. Open late with happy hour. Large selection of cocktails. Fiendly bartender.
Good food. Good service. Nice atmosphere.
We had good service and the food was delicious. The bartenders were attentive and continued to pour really nice drinks.
Great place, nice menu, tasty ???? food
Always a great experience here. The bacon-wrapped dates are utter perfection.
This is always a good place to go to enjoy tapas with wine, very friendly, excellent service, no regret. The best dish is Tapas for 2, includes a bit of everything. Bravo.
Really nice food and ambiance! 5 stars!
Great food and fun Atmosphere!
Great food and atmosphere I recommend the cilantro pesto pizza
Sangria, great steak, summer evenings on the patio! What more could you want.
Good food. Very noisy and crowded.
Service is excellent. Food is delicious. The tables for two are too small for the several tapas dishes, wine and water glasses.
Great place for socializing. Has an interesting menu and helpful staff. Low stars because my partner had a poor experience with the mussels here. Skip the seafood -
Great food, beautiful environment and good music.
This is such a classy old vibe space, it would be difficult to sit here and not expect an amazing experience. They delivered. The tapas here are amazing. I had the pleasure of joining locals to Victoria, having them order a non-stop train of food through our table, every dish very nicely crafted and plated. The staff are attentive, charming, and beautiful, the beer is good, and the wine list is extensive. If you're in Victoria, I highly recommend having dinner here.
Great atmosphere, good music and the food is amazing. You should try their espresso martini... best so far
I have been frequenting Tapa Bar for the last 10 years, typically eating there at least once a month, and I have always had fantastic visits, until this last one. The new bartender is brutal. We sat at the bar and were not acknowledged for almost 10 minutes. First drinks finally arrived, then we were ignored for another 10 minutes as we wanted to order appies and dinner. She finally took our dinner order, completely ignoring our empty drink glasses, typically a clear sign we could use another drink. I purposely noted this to my partner and wanted to see how long it would be until she asked us if we wanted another drink. Our meals arrived , and we were almost half way finished eating when she did her first and only quality check. At this time, she noticed one of our drinks was empty and asked me if i wanted another. She completely ignored my partners empty glass. We asked for the bill and went elsewhere for a few more cocktails. This was the first time we have been served by this particular bartender, and hopefully the last.
Came here on a whim just after playing at quazar's. Really good tapas overall. Would recommend for a late night snacking run ????
Always great food and a great place to go with friends
My wife and I ate here several years ago and loved the food. We thought it would be a good choice to try the Tapa Bar again but we were surprised the attention to the food was definitely not the same. Like another reviewer said "it's like they have all right ingredients but something is off". staff: 5 star, super friendly! Taste (4 different meals): 2 star - 2 out of the 4 orders arrived barely warm or verging on cool - 1 out 4 meals we ate tasted right. There was something off for 3 of the meals. We ordered: 1. Tortilla soup- raw tomato and tough chicken. There was also something off about the taste. 2. Cocanut curry shrimp - ok but cold. You can tell it was sitting for while after it was made. 3. Cheese fondue dip was good. But really hard to screw up. 4. Chicken wings with cocanut currty: Worst chicken wings I have had in 10 years.
Lunch
Great drinks and amazing food.
Excellent food, a bit inattentive service, though.
Fantastic food and vibe. Great value for money spent.
Exceptional food and service. I would reccomend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for great taste and an awesome atmosphere.
I love this bar. Nice cocktails, staff.
Unfortunately food wasn't great, Margarita Pizza without Mozarella, Shrimps on garlic water kinda. Not the best experience to me. Regardless the place its beautiful but they need to improve their kitchen. Sorry guys :(
Nice ambiance but the worst Spanish restaurant I've been to. Over salted, lacking flavour, cheese in mussels, pub-level calimari, very un-Spanish menu. Recommend Little Jumbo nearby.
Amazing food for a super fair price. 3 of us shared the tapas for 2 platter and it was way more than enough for all of us. Will come back 100%
Amazing food, great to go with a group of friends and try a bunch of different plates. Service was extremely quick even though the restaurant was very busy. Friendly staff, good drinks and good atmosphere
The food was fantastic. Tried a delicious grilled cheese I think tapa, the portobello mushroom tapa and mussels. Amazing. I found it a bit noisy even though I had requested a cozy spot for a couple. Unfortunately a family bday party with kids didnt help what turned out to be a wasted 2nd date (still getting over it). The Sangria was not very good compared to many I've had. It really just tastes like white wine with some fruit added. Weak flavour. Glad it was happy hour prices. I would have been very disappointed otherwise. I found it very expensive for 2 drinks and 4 small tapas. $86 before tip) It was nice to see a lot of people on the heated patio. I gave it a 3 for the price of the food and quality of my drink.
Shared the platter for two and it came with a little bit of everything. It was a fun experience to venture through the many items and may be missing their braised carrots that I'll need to try next time. Friendly staff, fun atmosphere, would definitely come back.
Love the atmosphere. The food is excellent. Great bar
Fantastic service, great food, and good drinks. Loved the food.
Have loved this restaurant for years and always try to eat here when I'm in Victoria. The food is consistently fantastic. Service is usually good also.
A decent place in the heart of the touristic location
The food was excellent, top notch very flavorful, healthy! Nice experience we tried 5 different plates shared amongst 4 of us
Amazing food... Absolutely amazing
Amazing food, great staff.
We were only here for pre-dinner drinks, so can't speak to most of the food. However what we did have was excellent. We ordered two Blue Balls gin martinis with an order of olives, and it's a great pairing! The martinis have a hint of scotch (but not too much) and the olives were some of the best I've ever had. Also lovely patio - with blankets and heaters :) Would go back again!
Delicious food, lovely staff, and beautiful restaurant and atmosphere
We found this place called the Tapa Bar in Trounce alley. My wife had the Tempranillo and I had a bourbon cocktail. We decided on shareables and we are so glad we did. It was a fantastic way to try several dishes and all them were delicious. Heart of palm salad, halibut tostadas, Mussels de cha cha cha, and a half order of Pollo Armanda. The service was fast friendly and professional. One more thing, and a great surprise at the end of the meal, the bill was quite a lot less than we anticipated. Such a wonderful experience.
The food was excellent! Service is very good as well.

A popular destination for locals, Tapa Bar is located on the chic and romantic Trounce Alley. Inside, the atmosphere is vibrant and modestly boisterous. Spanish music and a semi-casual decor create a fun environment. The food menu has a rich assortment of authentic tasty tapas. The drinks are worth more than the $8 average price tag. On a busy Saturday night, we received excellent service from the bar tenders.
Great food! Can be very busy, but worth it if you get an early start
This is a place in a little alley. It's pretty cute, perfect for big groups, friends or couples. The staff is super friendly, they always explain the menu and give good recommendations. The food was amazing a super tasty. Great tapas from Spain and south America. Good range of wines and beer too
$20 pitchers of sangria on Sundays! Service was attentive, although it was a little weird the way they staggered how they served our dishes. The best dish of the night was the Pesto Pizza. The seafood tostada was a bit hard to share between 3 people though; it came as a pile of seafood on top of one small crispy tortilla. Would not recommend the tostada unless you all eat like small birds.
Dinner
It was ok. Nothing spectacular. Friendly staff. Not the selection nor size I've grown accustomed to in other spots. What we had was good. The fondue is more of a cheese dip as opposed to what you may think of as fondue. Overall, ok. Seems like a good happy hour spot.
This place has the best platter for two; tasty, delicious, sumptuous sample sizes, varied textures and meats/fish - must try. Also the bread basket and the date bacon rolls yum yum yum - cannot go wrong with this combo
Unique food that you won't forget, warm and friendly service, and an incredibly cool atmosphere. Fits the culture and 'mood' of Victoria well, so a really good place for tourists. Wish I could give it 6 stars!
Chili relleno, papas with garlic aioli, and chicken and artichoke. What more can I say. Delicious and the service was excellent.
Awesome place, great food and drinks

Food was outstanding! Great place for groups!
Exceptional. I'm sorry I didn't photograph the food. I would definitely eat there again.
Service was great and happy hour is a good deal!
Not quiet but very good atmosphere. Attentive service, tasty food.
Had dinner there this weekend and everything was amazing. Such a fun evening. Our server (I think her name was Amanda) was simply the best.
Just had a great bar experience! I sat down and was served water before I even asked what I wanted to drink. Had a great drink recommendation, that only got better as the bartenders figured out what I would like :) awesome nook in an alley in downtown Victoria. Highly recommended!!
Wonderful atmosphere, good drinks, nice menu, even for dietary concerns. They've bucked the trend of all hard smooth surfaces making places unbearably loud, with some sound deadening panels on the ceiling. Personally I'd add more, but it's still much better than many.
The bar isn’t really anything special or exclusive, but I will say that the staff are nice and I do like their tapas a lot. They don’t aim to be top-notch and that’s completely fine. It usually gets very loud in here, so it can be a little bit of a conversation killer.
Amazing food, great atmosphere for a date night and always great service. Do yourself a favour and try the sangria.
We went for lunch and it was amazing. The mussels and shrimp are incredibly fresh and the sauces are to die for. I will not be sick for awhile, the amount of garlic made these dishes so yummy. The Spanish rose we had was wonderful too.
Great atmosphere, great food and awesome drinks
Great food nice place . Service was decent .
Lovely atmosphere, good food. Only complaint, small portions.
Great place for casual shared plates and a bottle of wine!
Great vegetarian options.
Great service, nice atmosphere, and nice location. Good selection of gluten free options. Food was overall pretty bland for the price. The pork I ordered was hard as a hockey puck and burnt on the edges. Server kindly offered a free alternative tapa but all of the three dishes we ordered were pretty bland. Would probably go there for drinks in the future.
A great meal everytime, I stop in whenever I can when in Victoria, tonight had a fantastic fennel sausage fetucinni, very simple with oils and garlic and chili flakes, fresh noodles Al dente. Pretty much perfect!
Good atmosphere, food was ok
Good service and good food. The only thing I missed was Pisco sour as good addition to my halibut caviche.
Superior... service was great, ambiance on sidewalk seeing was cozy and food ... I am still full and it is the next morning
One thing: their Sangria is a must try! Great tapas and cocktails and wine selection. Great vibe!
Beautiful location. Lights hang overhead outside across the alley where you can sit. Reminds me of restaurants of Europe. Came in during happy hour and order every dish on the happy hour menu. The mussels are an absolute must have. Some of the best I have had in years. we immediately ordered a second dish after having our first bite. Only thing I would order last would be the chicken wings. They are good, but compared to the flavor profiles of the other items on the menu, it just didn't work, still very good though. Definitely worth a visit or two. Will definitely come back to this place.
Great atmosphere and delicious food. Perhaps could have more clear layouts for seating, and maybe more heated seats (as being outside on a windy day/night makes a person colder than usual) but overall was well organized. Every waitress had a mask and did not remove them while talking to customers (from what I saw). Food is slightly expensive, but still affordable and it tastes great. Does delivery. People around were having a good time.
Amazing appetizers and share plates, And The cocktails are amazing..
Had you food for the first time yesterday and I was blown away. Sure will not be the last time. We ordered lots of food and drinks and your staff was amazing
Good food. Friendly and fast service. Who needs more? Reserve a table if you are visiting during the weekend. Alternatively, you can wait for a spot on the first come first serve bar.
Really good food and friendly staff. Lots of locals sent us here and it did not disappoint.
Awesome. True customer service in a town where it is hard to find.
Delicious food and drink. Prices are reasonable for small plates and the food is really good. I would definitely go back
Meal type
Fantastic spin on appetizers outstanding food
Great place for a romantic evening. The portions are small, but affordable. I would recommend ordering more than one menu item. There is no waiting room, you'll want to make a reservation ahead of time. Salsa and sea food with a Spanish flare and a decent selection of wine.
Good food, nice setting. Would easily go back.
Enjoyed the night and our baby was welcomed with open arms
Great ambiance and tasty tapas and pizza.
Wow, loved it. Happy hour is food & drink prices
Customer service is always fantastic. Muscles de cha cha cha and bacon wrapped dates are the best!
Really delicious tapas, lots of vegetarian options. Very cute and cozy inside. Wine and cocktail list with lots of options. Great happy hour specials.
Cozy atmosphere and wonderful service. Had the halibat tostadas, grilled portebello mushrooms and the coconut lime mussles. Will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu. The food is indescribably delicious. Try it out!
Shared mussels and chicken wing appies during happy hour, with yummy bread. Found the heat in the mussels overpowered the dish which was unfortunate, because they were cooked to perfection. Washed down with sangria which was good. Location, service and ambiance were charming which accounts for 2 of the stars.
The service on my most recent visit was truly superb. They have a small but effective beer list, excellent wines, and I would hazard a guess good cocktails as well. The food I have tried has been good.
Great food , atmosphere and service. Really an enjoyable experience
Tapa Bar is our workplace's go-to for group dinners and my personal date night spot. Absolutely love this place. The people are great and the food is amazing and fun.
Food is amazing here best spanish tapas we have had since coming to Victoria. Sangria was really good.
Rude staff and uninspired menu. Hostess talks back to you like a spoiled teenager and the 'tapas' are just overpriced generic pseudo-mexican.
The bartender was supremely rude. I was amazed that she did not appreciate that we were patronizing the establishment. We cancelled our order half way through our visit as we were made to feel embarrassed and ashamed even though we were keeping to ourselves. Snobby establishment. Do not go here if you want to have fun. Go here if you want to be judged and mistreated. Calamari was clearly from frozen. Drinks were whatever and overpriced. There are many better options in Victoria with better service, better products and better pricing. It’s a shame I can’t give this zero stars.
Great food, great service - as always!
This was one of our favourite restaurants and we came here to celebrate a birthday, but we had a very bad experience. Some of our favourite dishes were changed and almost all of the items tasty very salty. Our server Trisha hardly served us, and although we did not eat most of what we ordered, she didn't check in with us to make sure we were enjoying it. At the end of our meal when we asked her for the bill we told her that we found the shrimp (which we barely touched) too salty, which she replied with "okay." When she came back with boxes we had to ask her to take it off the bill. The whole night she clearly did not care about giving us a good experience. We watched her serve her friends and other tables but felt that she wasn't checking in on us, possibly because we were not white. We were very disappointed with the food and service and when I asked to speak to the manager she told me she was the manager. I had told her that we felt neglected, and we were frustrated that we didn't eat a lot of the food yet she never checked to make sure we liked everything. She asked me what I wanted her to do about it. I explained that as a server if someone didn't like their food or had a bad experience I would take care of some of their meal or do something for them, and she replied by saying that we still had to pay all of our bill and there was nothing she could do. We weren't looking for a free dinner just for our server to show she cared about our dining experience, which she did not do. We will not be back again.
Nice cozy place....Good food
Go during happy hour! You get great deals on a small selection of dishes and drinks. Staff are super nice! The food portions are quite small but very very good.
I have been here many times in the past and always had a great experience. I decided to tell my son to get a job here which he did. After a month he quit and told me that the management team is VERY TWO-Faced! The staff and everyone seem nice but dont respect employees that so called work at the bottom of the totem pole. Its too bad that they dont respect and take care of everyone as a whole or as equal. I would not go here to support that type of mindset!
Great food and fabulous drinks.

Decades pass and this place is still so much fun and tasty
Fresh and tasty tapas. Many options for a diverse mix of friends. Warm outside patios. Sat outside yesterday without a jacket. Great place to watch the world go by.
My dining experience would have been much better if my server had smiled a bit. She either had a really bad day or she just didn't like us. The food was good tho.
The bartender took care of us. Gave my girlfriend a free birthday shot. Perfect pit stop.
Great food and atmosphere! I have always had amazing service here.
Best place in Victoria for Tapas and drinks. Made from scratch menu with some very interesting and tasty options.
Was recommended to come here by a friend, and it did not disappoint! Would recommend the bacon wrapped dates, garlic prawns and mussels cha cha cha <3
Good, but some items are easily overpriced.
Nice place for a drink it two.
One of the best mussels I’ve ever had! (forgot to take pics tho..) Staff are very friendly, food are nice and large portion. My friends and I all enjoyed our dinner here very much. Will definitely visit again next time in Victoria!
Lovely atmosphere with great service, tons of delicious food options, and tasty drinks! Always a good choice
Love it great staff great food ???????? wish we able to go there often tho
Food super service excellent can't say enough
Always good food. Staff is hit or miss...
I’ve tried this place a couple times and unfortunately I don’t really like it that much. The sardines, sound so good but both times I’ve had them they most definitely were not. Overly cooked and inedible. Bacon wrapped figs are pretty good though.
Very good food. Plenty of selection.
Eat here. Get the coconut lime mussels and the hot to trot tarts and the grilled kale and the pesto pizza and the everything else on the menu cause this place is delicious and the servers are amazing and beautiful and the patio makes you feel like you're in a spanish diagon-ally
We sat at our table 5 minutes earlier before end of happy hour, server appeared 15 minutes later and she didn't let us order happy hour menu at a discounted price... we just paid regular price.. pizza was awful,,, but pasta was not bad. we expected good food as much as atmosphere. but food was not good.
Good value, excellent service in a cozy setting.
This our place of choice on "date night". Staff is always prompt and courteous. It is easy to tast that quality ingredients are used turning out an equally great product. The atmosphere is top shelf!! See you there!
Always reliable quality and service. Great night out every visit.
They served us uncooked prawns... Need I say more
Fantastic spot, in every way. Food, service/staff, room are top notch. Wine by the glass is pricey in relation to the rest of the menu, but great value otherwise.
Great food served with fantastic service!
Service
Absolutely love popping in for a afternoon or evening drink . Staff are super friendly , and this time we had dinner and the food was awesome.
Wonderful kind staff delicious food and lovely atmosphere step into a Spanish France right here in Victoria
Never disappointed when we go! Thank you for your continued great service and wonderful food. Xoxo
Great food and fun atmosphere
The server was amazing and top notch; the outdoor ambiance was nice with the heated patio. The lavender pisco sour was delicious but overpriced for the value, ales are fine. The food was very underwhelming. The Cubanette disappointed my boyfriend (overcooked on the outside, undercooked in the center) and the oysters in my two orders of Three Baked Oysters were undercooked and spoiled. Thankfully my friend and her niece's entrees were okay. The server didn't charge my boyfriend's and my dishes and everyone's desserts were tasty. Overall a mixed experience for my birthday ???? We chose this place because was told this was one of my boyfriend's half-brother's go to places to eat when he used to live in town (he lives in Kelowna now). I'm really hoping it's a one off and will try again at a much later date.
????????Great food!! Service was friendly and fast. Nice patio out front (down a small alley lined with restaurants and locally owned shops). Happy our and a late night happy hour with cheaper tapas and some drinks (think sangria).
Flavour. Wow. I'd totally do this again. Acoustics not great but the food and service make up for it!! This place is a destination in itself here in the great city of Victoria!!!.

Very good food. Friendly service. Highly recommend.
Excellent share plates, really tasty. Great drink selection (recommend the sangria). Reasonable prices. Nice atmosphere. Try the Heart of Palm salad. Recommended.
I tried a Salad with peppercorn dressing absolutely amazing and i also tried the pollo Madagascar. finger licking good. nice atmosphere n location
Great food drinks and services. Recommanded.
Amazing food, great happy hour, good service.
Fantastic food very fresh amazing sauces . Great service I highly recommend.
We had such a lovely dining experience after completing a 4 day hike. Our server was very helpful in recommending us dishes to try and we loved every one of them. My favorite thing we had were the coconut lime mussels. The sangria was awesome too- get a pitcher!
I quite liked the pollo armanda, and the calamari was very light and tender. Food was decent, and staff were attentive.
Great staff. The food is not extrictly Spanish but it had many Spanish elements... Gambas al ajillo were a bit disappointing if you have tried the real deal. But compensates for it with great service and ambience.
This place had amazing food and an overall good vibe ! I didn't know what to order but Hanah our waitress recommended what I should eat which is exactly what you see on the table and we were not disappointed ! 10/10, would smash again !
Never had a disappointing meal here. The grilled carrots are absolutely to die for.
One of our favourite places to eat nearly every time we come to Victoria!
Hella good tapas & San Gria ❤ would 10/10 recommend, especially the mussels and the tostadas. Also, order the patatas bravas (sp?) *drool*
We were quite early and got a table quickly. We had vegetarian fare. Pizza and a veggie dish. Food was reasonable. Service also reasonable.
Great service, fast & polite. My steak was tender and appealing. Beautiful & relaxing atmosphere.
Dine in
Wonderful food, great drinks. Real nice atmosphere. Located in a wonderfully atmospheric alley. Food is reasonably priced for the quality.
We enjoyed our time here today. We appreciated the variety and portions.
Best place in town for happy hour!!! The food and drink list for happy hour is truly amazing. And service is always awesome
Went for happy hour 3 to 5. Had the mussels de cha cha cha. Omg fabulous!! Ambience is fun. Adorable place
Really great food, if there’s a few people in the group just get a bunch of things and share it it’s definitely worth it and you can try so many things! The service is good, no complaints, they have good drinks. Definitely worth the stop!
Such a great vibe at this restaurant. Delicious food. Good wine. Helpful staff. Always one of my favorite places to dine in Victoria.
The mussels with lime and coconut were fabulous. Good wine selection too.
Excellent tapas, nice ambiance. Recommended for a good experience.
Fantastic! My partner and I have been coming here for years and it's always fabulous. Saturday was exceptional tho! The kitchen really brought out their A game (June 5th 2021) and dishes we had tried many times before were even better than usual!
I’m pretty certain that these guys make the best chicken wings in all of Victoria, hands down!!! If you enjoy a good chicken wing, or even a decent cocktail, this is the place for you. I guarantee you won’t be let down. Welcoming atmosphere, amazing food, friendly service!!
Favorite restaurant in Victoria, for a small group of friends with sangria and Tapas, love the mussels cha cha cha!
Amazing food and atmosphere. Unfortunately when we went they didn't have paiea.
They got dem tapas!!
My favourite restaurant in Victoria The best mussels cha cha cha, garlic wings and Rose Pasta with chicken The white wine sangria is the most delicious drink ever Five stars is not enough
Excellent food, and the service was outstanding
Loved the tapas. Very friendly service
Lunch
Wonderful tapas spot! Food, wine and service is all excellent. Highly recommended!
Great pizza, nice outdoor patio.
My first time at the Tapa Bar. We were a group of 6 which is a good idea when you're in a restaurant that serves a variety of tasting sized portions meant to be shared. Each person ordered a dish. Being vegetarian I didn't partake of a couple of the dishes but what I ate was very tasty. I especially liked the Grilled Kale which was really well seasoned and had a pleasing smoky taste. I was impressed that their menu contained a wide variety of vegetarian offerings and in a lot of cases the was a vegetarian version of a meat dish. Very progressive, modern menu design. The service was also very accommodating. They know their stuff. I want to go back soon.
Excellent meal. Bacon-wrapped dates are a must!
Good eats and atmosphere, a hidden gem in a car free alley
Good service, good seafood pasta.will return.
Fun and good snacks/ drinks
intimate little place with great mussels! little spicy but not too hot!! the servers did a great job.
Nice decor, and a wide selection of appetizers.
Great atmosphere, very rich and delicious food. Can be a bit pricey so dont over order. Highly recommend the seafood dishes.
Excellent food in a great ambiance. A must go in Victoria!
Love this place as the atmopshere is always so calm and welcoming, even on a busy night! From the fresh food to the wonderful staff, this is deffinitly a place to see prior to leaving Victoria!
The food was alright, but honestly not amazing and not even a 4-star quality. The service was average, not bad at all, but nothing outstanding or worth mentioning. I am celiac, as well as a dairy allergy. The food I ordered came with cheese after waiting quite awhile for it to come out, which was disappointing for it to be actually inedible for me. I would not recommend if there are any dietary restrictions or special orders. They did not compensate for the wrong order, and the server apologized, but that was it. Overall, would not eat here again.
Great place! Sunday is $20 Sangria pitcher night! They make a super tasty Sangria.????The fried kale was delicious and so were the chips and salsa. Plus service was fabulous! I'll definitely be going back and highly recommend this restaurant.
this place is never lack of customers. and their food is close to real Spanish food/ European style food in Victoria. The price is not over expensive. they also get good drinks. They have a small places and tables for dining and also a little bar. it is a warm little restaurant in the little lane/ alley. Their plate decoration isn't that beautiful, but the food taste is worth a try.
By far my favourite date night place! The tapas are always delicious and so many different wine choices ????
Great food Nd very cool little hip place
Good was tasty, service was good. The stuffed dates I think were the winners of the meal. Over all it was enjoyable. A bit pricy and I thought the food was a but salty (specifically the garlic butter wings) will probably go back, it was very enjoyable.
Great food for a reasonable price a bit loud though
My new favourite place in Victoria, good wine, CV ingots or be mb CV h seats knowledge able wait staff, tasty, small plates and good art on the walls, fair music,
the food is delicious but portions are not large
Quick service but we felt pressured to finish quickly so other people could eat. Very popular
Amazing food and atmosphere. Great date spot!
Great tapas! Not a fan of the chicken .. everything else was delicious.
Tapa Bar is one of my favourite places to eat in Victoria. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is warm but lively, and the servers are attentive and leave you full, happy and coming back for more! The Tapa Bar's greatest strength is that you can go there with a group of friends and have a ton of food and drinks for under $30 (Especially if you make their Happy Hour)!!! A MUST-EAT location.
The tepid rating reflects the quality of the food. For example, the prawns with chipotle sauce was overwhelmed by too much nearly raw garlic. Also, the cayenne mojito was just plain undrinkable. I expect this opinion is bucking the trend - it is popular place, especially with tourists, like me. If you're looking for social energy, then ok - don't go here just for the food.
Top notch food and service. Have the Mussels da cha cha! Best in town.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and a fun place to visit with family or friends. If you arent a fan of loud restaraunts this may not be the place for you though.
Great variety, nice atmosphere, sexy. Everythings delicious. Service is good but maybe avoid here when it's packed. Some evenings it is busy busy. Even just the olives are good ????
Looking for tapas? You found the right place. Small pricey plates of yummy food brought right to your table, what more could you ask for? Highly recommended if you're nearby and hungry for the local delicacies. Awesome location: a quaint alley that you'll be happy to find.
Had the sample platter for two and everything on it was wonderful. Went for lunch and would definitely go for dinner so I could try their sangria.
Good food, very good service and wine prices aren't jacked too high
Bartender was amazing great service and the food is really good. Perfect portions and really interesting menu options. Definitely try it out. Will be back
Lovely ambiance, and great happy hour.
Delicious! Order the marinated portabella
Had a few Tapas, they were all very good, but the Pollo Armand was to die for!! Absolutely fantastic!!
Consistently a good place to socialize & have drinks. Probably one of the best sangrias around. Friendly servers, good quality food (not amazing). A bit on the pricier side for what you get for food sometimes but you pay for the experience of the bar.
Excellent food and a small but good local beer selection, the cocktails leave a bit to be desired though. I had a Paloma that was entirely lack lustre.
Fun hidden location, with a great selection of tapas. Really enjoyed the meals and wine, though a couple of dishes were slightly underwhelming. Would visit again!
The Tapa Bar serves fantastic food quality by very friendly customer service. Their House-made Sausage Pizza is outstanding!
Dropped in for dessert. Amazing cheesecake and Mousse
Dine in
Omg ???? this place is amazing. Food is soo tasty. Service is great and drinks are top notch. Would come here again!
Everything was so delicious. Great service. One of the top restaurants in Victoria.
The patio glows with romantic yellow lights in the evening. A great place to get evening food and drinks.
Hidden away in the litte alleyway gives the restaurant a cozy atmosphere. Good selection of tapas style dishes with an option for everyone. Great place for groups.
Great restaurant, food, music, art. Clams Cha cha cha with sangria are awesome, sauce is to die for. Heated patio option as well. Love this place. Planning to come back for more
Bad experience. I've never been LIED to at a restaurant. Ordered mussels but the bartender said they were out of mussels. 30 minutes later the party sitting next to us had an order of mussels arrive. Bartender said they had a few lying around for platters. Why wasn't I told about these extra mussels "lying around" or suggested I order the platter?? I've been here before and enjoyed it but I'll NEVER come back. Broken trust.
My friend and I went here on the 16th for my birthday lunch. We were seated immediately at the perfect table in the shade on the patio, and quickly asked if we needed anything to drink and were brought waters. The service was wonderful - Nikki (not sure how it's spelled) was a gracious and accommodating host and so, so friendly. the second course took a bit longer than we would have liked, but by then the restaurant had filled up substantially, so i'm sure the kitchen was just over loaded. the food was delicious as always, and don't forget to try their desserts!!! Thank you Nikki for making my birthday very special. Truly a great server!
Loved the location, food and drinks here. All of the staff were welcoming and kind and the atmosphere was great. Only negative would be that there were far too many delicious food options to choose from.
We usually go for a late night tapa and sangria run, but they have amazing happy hour specials. Definitely worth waiting in line.
Meal type
This place is amazing and we go every time we are in Victoria!
Called on Wednesday and they told us to show up for walk-in. We showed up for a graduation dinner and asked for a table of 6 at 6PM and they said it would be a 1 hour wait. They said could not seat us any more after they watched us sit in the cold rain, waited for over 2 hours. It’s quite clear that this place does not value customer service. Don’t waste your time here. Extremely disappointed. Will remember this place as a bad memory for graduation. What a bummer.
Always a treat this place is a fav spot to take friends from out of town
We came here for lunch, got the Tapa platter for 2 to get a bit of everything. The portion was very generous, we get pretty full eating just half of it. The mussels de cha cha cha, garlic wings, chorizo and chille relleno were good. The rest was just so so, also the bread was cold and chewy. Overall, not as good as we expected. Service is slow and not so attentive. Took 40 mins for the food to come, the waitress brought the bill and never come back. The restaurant wasn’t even busy during lunch time.
Happy that they are open during these uncertain times. Everyone was wearing masks, tables were well spaced out, the patio was open and food and drinks were delicious as always. Thanks for the great service!
Not sure if we came on a bad night, but the food was awful. Ordered pizza which tasted like freezer microwave pizza. The tapas were either way too sour (lime) or too bland. The price was the nail in the coffin for such subpar food. If you want to go for the cool vibe and a couple of drinks, leave it at that. I hope that my experience was one of few.
A great varied selection of house made tapas and local specials. Large wine selection and a quiet patio for warm days.
The food is definitely good here, although I must say after a recent trip to Spain the culture surrounding tapas is quite varied to what we experience at home.
The service is really bad. Two of us sat down at patio and the server came in after fifteen minutes to put water on our table. To place the order it took over twenty five minutes. It is Sunday evening and we ignored it thinking they might be short staff but later we asked the server if we could sit inside because our table was not stable on the ground and they had added something underneath the table leg. The server said no because the table inside was reserved. Two tables inside sat empty for over an hour and ofcourse we dined in with the inconvenience. To end the experience the server asked for the bill and forget that we ordered dessert. It had already been so long that we decided to just leave. When we were paying the bill we asked if she remembered the dessert order and the answer was - i had it written down but I don’t usually ring it in until the end. If you would like i can order now. Wow, I mean we dined in and paid over hundred dollars to hear this. Very disappointing. Mistakes can happen but just an apology would be nice if you forget rather than making a story. We will not go there again because they don’t deserve our hard earned money and I don’t deserve to be treated like this.
Great cocktails. Wonderful small plate foods and friendly staff!!! Always a good decision.
I've been here probably close to a dozen times now over the past few years, and recently was here for my anniversary. We had the platter for two - we asked for a few modifications and they were accommodating. The food is undoubtedly five star! The seafood is fresh and the dishes are unique. There are many items you can't get anywhere else. My absolute favourite is the bacon-wrapped, almond-stuffed dates with blue cheese and balsamic reduction, but I have yet to try anything that isn't good. There is a great drink list as well. Be forewarned that the venue is very crowded, with small tables, and thus a fair bit of noise. The patio is much more spacious and has the beautiful overhanging lights, so I highly recommend it if possible. It is difficult for the waitresses to get around, so the service could sometimes be a little more attentive and quick. It was perhaps not the best choice for a romantic anniversary dinner but it's great for dinner with a small group. Note also that the food can get pretty expensive! Servings are small for the tapas. You should expect to get three dishes per person, though the platter for two was very filling and of great value. These can quickly add up, so if you're on a budget, try the mussels (they are full size, so the price is actually pretty good), seafood pasta or steak (also an excellent price). Overall, one of my favourite restaurants in Victoria.
Good food simply and deliciously prepared. Excellent Sangria, friendly staff, busy as hell almost any warm summer night on the patio.
I love this place...great drinks and tomato free tapas. A fun experience on Trounce Alley.
Excellent happy hour deals on drinks and selected appetizers. Nice ambiance inside albeit a little dark. Service every time I have been has been pleasant, nothing special. Would not dine here for a full meal, a nice place to come for some snacks and a drink though.
Sharing is caring with TAPA dishes... a romantic place.
Memorable food that'll make you yearn to return and service equally as friendly!
The atmosphere was great, the servers and bartender were friendly. The food was expensive but good. I would go again. It felt like a night out . Exactly what I wanted.
Mixed emotions with this restaurant. Service was slow and our server seemed like she was having a bad day. However like most places right now they seemed under staffed. Drinks were good and well made. Food was delicious however we found portion sizes to be way to large. The "Tapas" were the same size as a standard dish, so it kept you from really exploring and trying multiple dishes, which is what I look for in Tapas.
So been visiting this place for as long as I can remember when visiting Victoria, must be 8 years or more. Still lived up to my expectations and memories. Great food and cocktails, and fun music.
Good atmosphere, they are not take reservations by the phone on the day we visit but walk in ok and quick to get our table. Good place to hang out
I get the platter for two and we always enjoy it.
Amazing food, good environment and great costumer service!
Dinner
Bacon wrapped stuffed dates with balsamic dressing and alittle blue cheese, try it. Your mind will be blown! I'm not someone who likes dates, almonds or blue cheese but this combination is heavenly.
Love the food excellent taste and nice environment, good service deserves a good tip.
While the service and ambience were fine, this is not the place to go for traditional, or flavourful, tapas. The mussels were very good, but the other items we had were under seasoned or oddly prepared. The sardine toasts were very bland and came on a giant piece of untoasted bread with a drizzle of mayo and a single sardine in the middle. The curried prawns came with cucumbers cooked into the sauce, which seemed so bizarre it could only be a mistake? There are a few much better spots to visit in Victoria for tapas, one of which is *literally* next door. Wouldn’t bother going back.
Pasta was not seasoned.
The food here is AMAZING! the waiters are so nice, and the music is great!
Delicious food, although very busy. Definitely get a reservation if possible.
Service
So incredible! this is always my go to resturant when I have friends visiting from out of province! the food is amazing, the staff is awesome and the atmosphere is electric! I come to this place at least once a month and I'm gunna keep coming back because I'm always hungry and the Tappa bar has my order. ????????
Tapas at is one of our favourite quiet afternoon light lunch. Delicious food and great wine. Or beer. Great little alley patio is a plus.
Good food, super friendly staff and a nice location!
We went to restsurant at 4:50 pm ON Sunday Feb 11 2018. Restaurant was almost empty. We asked for table for 4 and server told us that there is no tables avaliable as they are reserved for 6 pm. We walked out and spend $300 at another place ( Guild ) . If server approach different we could stay and be gone by 6pm.
Wings were yum. Eggplant average. Fondue OK. Bacon and blue cheese dates were excellent.
Great food and atmosphere. Tortilla chips quite salty though. Great GF and keto options.
The sangria is good, and the stuffed dates are amazing.
Amazing food and great beverage selection!
Great atmosphere and delicious food. Love this place. <3
Reminder to self to ever return.
Super cute. Laid back. Tucked in an alleyway. Food delightful and full of flavour.
Dine in
Seated us but we could not get table service even after getting up and requesting help. We ended up leaving after being left alone for about 30 minutes.
I always have a good coma at this place, the steak is always cooked perfect and they have happy hour prawns in garlic butter sauce!!!
We had a wonderful time at Tapa Bar. The ambiance was intimate and just what we wanted. The wait staff did an excellent job and they and the locals were friendly. The icing on the cake? The food was beautiful, healthy and delicious. We'll dine at Tapa Bar again the next time we're in Victoria. Thank you Tapa Bar!
Good taste, chefs can cook! The fish is soft and just right, all seafood are great. Cocktails taste good, servers are nice. Outside seat would much prefer, but we sorted inside, it was a bit dark.
Tried the bacon wrapped dates and they were good. The bread was also nice. Good beer price for happy hour too.
Delicious food but it's very expensive for what you get
Great late night eats. The almond stuffed dates were particularly delicious!
Delicious food. Interesting flavors. Friendly staff
Went there for happy hour. Reserved a table earlier in the day and asked for one outside which was ready for us on arrival. Lovely meal and great service. Would definitely return.
Everytime we go to the Tapa Bar we always look at each angle why don't we come down here more often lol. Never disappoint , staff are fantastic tentative in knowledgeable , specially the chef and his staff never fails is serve a fantastic meal . So if you're looking for a place when you're downtown this is the place .
Sangria was delicious!! Get the happy hour pitcher! Patatas bravas were also SO GOOD we got half with tomato and half with aioli, great decision. Ceviche was nothing to write home about though sadly. Service was great and the atmosphere also.
The coconut milk marinated and grilled kale is amazing!
Really good atmosphere, the wine and food uhh it’s very good! Service was excellent, definitely would come back here ????
I'm confused by the rave reviews. We were really looking forward to trying this place out after two people recommended the place to us. We made sure to make a reservation in advance so we could get in for dinner after getting to the island. While the service was good, we were disappointed with the food. We ordered the marinated portabello mushrooms, gambas con coco, and seafood fettuccine along with a pitcher of red sangria. While the food sounded great on paper, it didn't have much flavour. The vinaigrette for the mushrooms was too acidic and barely left room for you to taste the mushrooms. The gambas and the fettuccine were okay. The whole time we were eating the dishes we were hoping for something more. You know when all the ingredients are there, but it doesn't taste right? That's how it felt. Overall, we were highly disappointed by the food and wouldn't really recommend it to others. Maybe for drinks, but that's about it.
Great food and awesome atmosphere ! Knocked off one star because we had a reservation and they were 10 mins late. Other people got seated first while we were still waiting and we had a reservation.
We had the Cubanette and Seafood Ceviche and both were great. Topped it off with the Creme Brule trio. All the food was delicious. Wish I had discovered this place the first day of our vacation on the island. Wait staff was good also. I'd agree with one of the prior comments that prices can add up quickly if you do the small plates. Bill for two of us was $42 which I felt was a reasonable cost especially for this area.
Went a few months back, and had the best time. The food is incredible, and the environment is really down to earth and comfortable.
Pros: Great ambiance and the staff is super friendly and attentive. I left a 20% tip for that reason only. The food is overpriced and sub par at best, which brings us to the cons. Cons: first of all, if you're worried about Covid maybe avoid the Tapa Bar. It was packed and the pandemic and social distancing seemed like a distant memory in that place, the masked servers notwithstanding. The table that was offered to us at first was closely flanked by people at other tables and there was barely enough room to pull out the chairs. We opted for the bar but were quickly flanked by other patrons there as well. At least everyone huddled. I thought it was ironic that there was a "No Vaccine Card" protest a just few meters away. Places like this remind me why it's unfortunately become unavoidable. As for the food, what we tried was below average. The eggplant dish was totally bland, with a tomato sauce that tasted like slightly thinned out tomato paste. It was terribly acidic (hello heartburn!), bitter, and the flat tasting eggplant slices didn't help. It needed, garlic, salt, flavour of any kind. I found myself happy at the fact that they only give you three slices (for $12!!!). The goat cheese topping it didn't work with the rest of the dish. The chile con queso fondue is tiny and you barely get any poblano, spicy yes, but boring and left me feeling completely underwhelmed (and a little queasy). At least there's a big pile of boring supermarket tortilla chips to fill up on. The calamari was passable and we thought we'd order more to try but it just felt like throwing good money after bad. We just opted for the chocolate espresso mousse (it'd be hard to make that taste terrible) for dessert, which was tasty, but $9 for what was just about a quarter cup it seems. The food bears no resemblance to actual Spanish tapas. Meh. Won't bother again with this place. Maybe we didn't order the right things but for $50 + tip what did we have to order to make this an ok experience? It seems like just another Victoria restaurant that manages to skate by on mediocrity because tourism allows you to do that, or people like it because it's what's on offer here, or maybe the Sangria pitchers help you not notice the food so much.
Pros: great tortilla soup, sangria and olives. Staff were very friendly and personable. (Which gets 2 stars) Cons: we waited for over 1 hour 45 minutes to get a few wings and pasta. Both were incredibly salty to the point of hurting your mouth. We left hungry and disappointed! I understand that the restaurant was very busy but by the time we got our food almost nobody was left at the restaurant and the staff acknowledged the mistake. The staff did take off our pitcher of sangria from the bill and apologized for the delay many times which was nice but unfortunately we will not be returning! The reviews are great, I think we just had bad luck with the food and service tonight!
Had dinner at Tapa Bar tonight. Both foods and sangria were good. I particularly like their chicken wings in Chipotle sauce
Service was "rushed" we were told we had to be out at a certain time dispite there being many open tables, on top of that we had to wait 15min for drinks (the sangria was watered down) and another 20min before our orders were taken. Food was subpar for a restaurant rated as it was, the food was barely seasoned with most dishes being bland, and lacking presentation. Regretted choosing this restaurant over another, definitely will not be returning.
Had a really nice date night here with my partner. Sangria and cocktails were great, food was good but some flavours could have been better. Tapas also a bit pricey for portion.
Still one of my all time favorites. Get the mussels!!!!
Great vegan menu, and the most awesome woman behind the bar!
The food and service were excellent but the NOISE was horrendous..the acoustics are terrible. It was so hard to talk to the 2 other people at our table because of the cacophony of laughing, talking and then loud music. It was also very cold...the chairs were even cold when we sat down. Also, the lighting was very low...hard to read the menu...had to use our phone flashlights. In spite of the great food and service, we wouldn't go back.
Meal type
Must have had the B team on a Sunday afternoon. Food was OK, not great. Staff did not care one bit about serving, and we were one of only a few tables in the entire place. Waitress spilled greasy food all over me, didn't even get a sorry. Would never go back.
literally had no idea tapa meant small and expensive plates of food
Absolutely every single tapa we had was phenomenal, we ordered half the menu too and not one disappointed. The drinks were also fantastic and refreshing. But above all, the OLIVE OIL PEACH CREAM CAKE WAS THE BEST THING THAT HAS EVER TOUCHED OUR LIPS. We all are awaiting the day we can go back to get it, the cream was perfectly whipped and the cake was such a fantastic consistency.
Soooo good! Incredibly flavourful food.
Omg the food was amazing! We sat at the bar and the bar tender was something else! Thank you! Will come back
Food was great and packed a lot of flavour. Service was a bit slow, but the martinis made up for it!
I tolerate the terrible service because the food is so good.
Service
Dine in
Superb.
Good vegan options, pleasant atmosphere, central location!
The food & service is good. It's not he best to us, but its worth visiting.
Dinner
Great food, atmosphere and experience ! will definitely visit again soon!
Great food and atmosphere!
Loud but great place to share menu items with your friends
Great date night place. Good deals for happy hour. Food is great and the bartenders are always friendly.
Absolutely amazing food and atmosphere. One of the best restaurants in downtown Victoria. Just make sure to get a reservation, they fill up fast.
Portions are meal size not tapas size. Food quality is average and menu is not very creative.
Service
Deservedly an institution, very good food, great service. Not Mexican (nor TexMex) more of a Latino theme.
Very tasty selection of sharables with intimate atmosphere
Meal type
If you want to grab some bites and have some drinks with friends, this is just about perfect. The bacon wrapped dates necessitate multiple orders. The sangria is excellent. Cocktails are fantastic. Service has always been friendly. Lean into the tapa experience: bring friends, grab drinks, share the food.
I'm afraid of their bathroom doors . They slam loudly but that's okay because sangria and delicious vegan gluten free tapas
Cozy atmosphere. Above all, all the plates we ordered we scrumptiously delcious. Staff very efficient. Lots of vegetarian options.
Terrible result. Food was subpar salad wasn’t dressed. Food was bland and very poorly seasoned. after spending $100, they didn’t really care that we hadn’t enjoyed it, went to McDonalds because we were still hungry. Very disappointed as we had been here before and enjoyed it very much, we make a point to go there each time we are in Victoria. The only thing I enjoyed were the drinks and the olives. This kitchen has some issues that certainly need to be addressed. The fact that we were disappointed wasn’t addressed at all when we expressed our disappointed. Will not be back:(
Amazing atmosphere. This is a great place to meet friends for tapas and food. The small plates format is great, but the price can add up quickly. It can get busy on weekends, so it's good to reserve.
Good place to get food at , got really good garlic wings
We have loved Tapa Bar for years but sadly as of late it has gone downhill. They have changed many things on the menu and the flavour is no longer there on some of their dishes. We stoped in for lunch the other day and ordered the balsamic blue cheese steak and it was literally balsamic soup with overcooked cold steak! It was TERRIBLE. They also changed the pickled onions which were a great compliment to the steak, not anymore. We also ordered the garlic wings which are usually a fav but this time the sauce tasted like wine with a little garlic. Usually the sauce is buttery and you should never taste just wine! We told our server that the dishes were off and not great but we would eat them since we were starving and it took almost 30mins to get them. NOTHING was done, no apologies, no manager sent over, no discount on the bill. It was Sad, since this has been one of my husband and I’s favourite restaurants for years. We would often come multiple times per week, but in the last year its has just been off every time we have gone.
Staff were great, food was tasty. Expect a wait at peak times.
This was our second time visiting this restaurant. We travel extensively, both domestically and internationally. This place has, hands down, the best muscles I have ever had, coupled by superb service. Can’t wait to go back for those muscles again!
Food was amazing. Waitress was awesome, went above and beyond.
Great location and vibe but most of the food was pretty terrible. The cheese fondue dish was tiny and mostly full of onions (not cheese) and served with what looked like chips from a grocery store. The eggplant dish was super bland/tasteless and clearly used some sort of low quality canned tomato sauce. Calamari had tiny little pieces that were mostly breading. The only 2 good dishes we had were the halibut ceviche and the mussels. Generally overpriced as well. Not traditional Spanish tapas for the most part.
Good food but the wait staff are a little absent. We had to wait to order and wait to pay. Overall still a nice place.
Great option for takeout, food was really good and prepared reasonably fast. Difficult time getting in physically though, the entry way isn't set up for 2 way traffic and they have every square inch filled with tables and seats.
Prawn Curry fan! The sangria pitcher was awesome on a warm evening.
Good food
Rude, Arrogant Manager with ZERO customer service skills. We took my daughter and several friends out to celebrate on the day of her graduation from UVIC. We were told that the table would be ready in 1 hour. We came back and waited a further half hour outside in the cold rain. Amazingly after 90 minutes- Hostess told us that "we should probably find somewhere else to eat because they were so busy". We complained to the manager - the guy in a Hawaiian Shirt - first ignored us, when pressed - He was rude, Condescending and Arrogant, trying to force us all to go back into the cold rain before seating us. Congratulations on bringing my daughter to tears on her graduation day! The only reason I stayed is because my daughter wanted to eat there and at this point we could not get seated anywhere else. Note to owner - You are busy and hip now but this is no time to let some manager with no customer service skills drive your restaurant into the ground. And if the guy in the Hawaiian shirt is the owner... God help you.
I have not tasted mussels that did the dish justice since my childhood spent in the south of France... until now. These were AMAZING, on happy hour, generous serving, and ill be longing for them for many years to come! Happy hour menu pictured below is from august 2021
Really fantastic food and drinks!
We enjoyed all of our tapas here. Service was a bit slow but I understand “island time”
My favorite place to eat when I come to Victoria ! Professional friendly staff !
Great spot, good atmosphere and delicious food. It's a bit pricey for the portion size on most dishes but generally worth it!
Awesome place.
Not too sure if there was a lot on the menu I liked but amazing atmosphere
The Tapa Bar is my absolutely favorite restaurant in Victoria. The ambience is lovely (especially a warm summer's night on the patio), the drinks are great, and the food is phenomenal. Would highly recommend trying the almond stuffed dates, the chipotle chicken wings, mussels de cha cha, and papas bravas (with garlic sauce). The staff and overall service is always so great too!
Fantastic food and service. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we had there. We lucked out for a nice warm evening so we enjoyed our food in Trounce Alley. It was a great way to spend an evening in Victoria. It has been around for a long time and there is a reason why. Check it out if you are in the area you won't be disappointed.
Quaint casual dining great for quick bites meal size great for smaller appetites
Returned in 2021… Mussels de cha cha used to be excellent, but was very disappointing this time around: mussels were tiny. Think the restaurant should have informed us when we ordered the dish, or remove it from the menu if the quality is not up to standards. Previously… Cubanette Con Pollo was unimpressed - chicken was dry and lacking flavor.
Amazing atmosphere, great service and even better food. The seafood linguini was the fan favourite. 10/10
Meal was excellent to share with friends. Everyone got a few small plates that we shared. Creme brulee trio was an excellent desset.
Awesome food. Just wish they would open a little earlier than noon
Really good. Nice setting, good service and the food is excellent
Pitcher of sangria and tapas! Nice way to spend an afternoon in Trounce Alley
Excellent food. Great variety of choices
Amazing cocktails and appies!
Service
Excellent food! Enjoyed every dish we had!
Fun place to go with a group and to get lots of tapas. We got the four bean salad, papas bravas, halibut tostada, three baked oysters, pollo armanda, along with a few different cocktails. We shared everything and it all tasted fantastic.
Excellent service. Great food, lots of selections. Dim and lovely ambiance.
On November 2nd, I received confirmation of my dinner reservation for December 24th. Today, December 17th, the manager called me to cancel the reservation. The manager was unapologetic and callous. This restaurant's management need to re-examine the meaning of service and commitment.
!!!!!! The exclamation points is how I feel about this place. I can count the times I was overwhelmed from food tasting so good on one hand. This was one of them. The service was on point, a little slow but it was very busy. Sat down for lunch, got sangria and ordered off the happy hour menu. We had the chicken with garlic and the mussels. The drinks were delicious and the food... the food my god.. was so flavorful and so wonderful and if taste could be described as beautiful, then this was beautiful. I wanted to come back for dinner the same night but my wife was too embarassed to come back two times in one day. I will forever remember this place. It my haunts my taste buds.
First of all the location is absolutely amazing, very easy to find and just a stones throw away from anything else you'll need. The food is absolutely phenomenal, everything has a little. It of a unique flavour which I find ideal for my dining experience. Food is one thing though... I have personally never been waited on so perfectly! The wait staff was friendly and hospitable, the wait time was next to nothing and the food came out with in 10 minutes of us ordering. A real gem in victoria! Side note the happy hour (3-6) specials are amazing!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
Cute alley, nice ambiance inside. Hubby almost burned his finger twice because there was no warning the dish was hot + hard to eat without holding the dish but food tasted excellent.
They have a really good happy hour 3-6 everyday
Lovely Tapa Bar - Mussels Cha Cha Cha are amazing!
Besides the wait....which wasn't too bad, it was great! Good service and attentive service. Great vibe and in a cool part of town. Will be back again for sure!
Just in Victoria for a quick visit after a few years and were so happy to return to our favourite tapas place in the city. Food is amazing! We enjoyed everything we had and found that the portions were really ample. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts and the Pollo Armanda! Super intense flavours and so delicious. The red wine sangria is wonderful as well! We are looking forward to returning again soon!
Very tasty food and awesome music. 4.5 stars.
Their sangria is hands down the best! Great atmosphere too.
The mussels here are AMAZING. We ordered one of everything on the happy hour menu, and after eating one mussel each, we immediately asked for a second order. They’re huge and the sauce is amazing!! We also really enjoyed the shrimp, the margarita pizza, and the potatoes. The wings were good, but paled in comparison to the mussels.
Great Ambience and fabulous food. Happy hour is the best with featured drinks and appies only $5 each.
