We have the opinions of real people who use the products and services of Murchie's Tea & Coffee (Catering) in the area close to Victoria (Canada).
At this moment this business has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 and that score is based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is virtually the highest, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can say that the evaluation is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place reviews when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Catering is classified in the category of Tea store.
Their cakes are the best but I don't like low quality coffee and tea here and it is always cold
Its amazing to eat there. The treats look Devine and very tasty. The cheesecake and macroons are to die for. The least busiest time is 2pm. Lots of seats to go around.
Munchies staff are always so polite and work very hard to make sure a person is looked after properly. They can get busy, so you may have to wait but the products they sell are excellent and worth the wait.
Ah, for the love of good coffee and tea; and the most amazing selection of pastries and bits to treat yourself with. Must visit if one is in Victoria. Also, their chocolate eclairs are a delight!
Amazing tea place! Such a great selection of tea merchandize!
A great place for a light, casual meal or snack. Washroom is located downstairs. For people with mobility issues or family with a stroller, there is an elevator. For customer who parked in back or entering via back, you can use the elevator to get to the main floor.
Great selection of high quality teas and baked goods. A really special atmosphere with silver platters and historic decor. A must visit for all visitors to Victoria.
Murchie's is a landmark in Victoria! The food is nothing short of AWESOME, a must are the current scones with jam and cream.
Murchie's has long been a favorite of ours. the coffees are quite decent (never tried the teas but I hear good things) and the food and pastry selections are as delightful for the eyes as they are for the tastebuds - which can make choosing quite complicated - One of the more enjoyable stresses in a day. ;D Their attached gift shop is always good for a quick look-see.
Expensive, long wait line and I'm not so happy also with the coffees. On the other hand I enjoyed the London Fog tea and most of the pastries.
One of the best coffee and cakes, super affordable ????????????????
Tasty desserts excellent coffee place
Murchies Is an institution in Victoria! The food is delicious, the tea is fantastic. Stop to browse the detection of gifts and loose leaf tea. The washrooms are not suitable for people in wheelchairs, more for people using walkers (unless you bring a friend). The entrance doors not have a door opener.
Great service, great quality tea. What more could you want?
Good food, delicious cappuccino although not hot enough for my liking. My only complaint is the poorly trained staff. When asked what coffee blend they use for the espresso no one at the counter seemed to know. Then I decided to buy a few bags of whole bean coffee and the employee had no idea about which grinds were suitable for regular drip and espresso. Some staff were friendly, others seems less but poorly trained staff who were not very knowledgeable about coffee which is disappointing.
Fantastic tea shop! The dining side is in need of a bit of freshening up. Selection of food is decent.
A classic place to come for tea or coffee in Victoria. This is the best Murchie's location hands down. Gets crowded easily but there are more tables at the back. Coffee, tea and pastries are all wonderful. Has a large shop as well as dining section.
Best place to have a cup of tea and baked goods in Victoria. If your are serious tea drinker this place should be on your list to visit. Highly quality tea and a few variety of pastries and desserts to choose from. My favorite is almond croissant.
Excellant tea choices, sandwiches were tasty, nice assortment of treats, and beautiful cakes.
Not exactly the Murchie's Tea I grew up anymore with but it was really quite good.
Great place!! Food, drinks!! Awesome!
Murchies always has high quality products and this time our drinks and food came super quickly even though they were quite busy!
Came here for breakfast before going back to the mainland. The building that houses the store is wonderful and there’s a huge selection of merchandise inside. I wish the Murchie’s stores here had dine-in like this; had a savoury breakfast scone with a nicely sized cup of coffee for only $8.50. Will definitely be back again next time I’m in Victoria.
Love their sandwichs!!
Coffee is excellent and so are the sweets. Sandwiches are good, but for the price it is too much bread and not enough filling. Service is not their strong suite, but the ambiance and tasty food makes up for it.
Great service and great products. Found two lovely gifts for friends. There is a level entrance from the street for wheelchairs and a ramp to access the half level of additional shopping. There is no power button on the outside door.
They call themselves café. However, stop selling at 5pm on Sunday and don't allow people an extra minute to finish their meal. They basically kicked us out to snow from their place to snowbank with our not finished tea and tarts. I asked the girl if it would be possible to please finish our meals she responded "There is a sign on the door. We're closed at 5pm". No sorry, to politeness, nothing! Direct and rude.
The original Murchies tea shop in Victoria. Wide selection of teas, both prepared hot for consumption and packaged for taking home. Great stop for pastry and tea or coffee. Also good for souvenirs.
Coming into this place always makes me take a deep breath and relax. Elegant, delicious tea and beautiful food. Favorite place to unwind when visiting Victoria.
Asked about odd teas like nettles or dandelion was told to try David's tea or something. Sales person didn't even a clue what I was talking about. Their tea is good but your staff should be less uptight about OG teas.
One of my new favorite spots! Love the staff, the seating and of course the food!
Our must go coffee place in Victoria. We have gone there every time since we first came here to visit. They have an incredible variety of sandwiches, and sweets. They hot chocolate is simply wonderful. If you are a coffee or tea lover, you also have the store which is right beside the café.
The sweets look great, but I only had the coffee. Coffee was good.
DO IT. GO HERE. The basked goods are always fresh and tasty. Their coffee is always fresh and hot. My wife and I come here all the time and I like the vibe of the place.
What a fabulous tea and coffee shop. Plenty of seating for a mid-afternoon break. Beautiful mugs which are great for gifts.
Pastries coffee tea... Everything is amazing. Very nice atmosphere to have a coffee and a treat.
Excellent tea selections, the lattes here are amazingly good probably the best I had in Victoria strong flavoured and very velvety.
I had the tiramisu cake a week ago at a friend birthday party. And today I had the tiramisu cake again for my birthday. The flavour aren’t consistent. The second tiramisu are way too sweet. I was really looking forward to enjoy the cake that i did before. Unfortunately not this time. So disappointed and probably won’t go back again.
Love it! Use the seating space at the end of the venue. Lots of natural light and cheaper than it might seem at first!
Old world tea, coffee, pastries. We come here twice weekly for delicious coffee and black currant scones, served with clotted cream and raspberry jam. Fantastic. Sandwiches, wonderful pastries and treats.
Great experience. They always have tons of fresh baked goods and hot drinks. I would suggest trying the scones with jam and a london fog.
Always LOVE there chocolates. Lovely purple box with an assortment of chocolates.
The girl didn’t bother and don’t care, be aware of the picture is look nice but doesn’t taste very good, no customer service, will not come back. Really disappointed!
Great place for tea and cake! Grab a friend or a book and relax
Great place for Tea's and coffee, nice selection of food and pastries. The Blackcurrant scone with jam was amazing. I believe this is the original location as well. You can also buy nice little gifts and tea sets here as well.
Convenient downtown location, great coffee and tea, good deli style lunches and plenty of interesting gifts to browse.
They pretend to be British or whatever, but I know the truth. Amazing place with tones of great options and awesome atmosphere to enjoy it in. Loved allmy trips here and will be back frequently.
Their coffee and pastry is the best I have ever had. Only place I can drink coffee with no cream or sugar.
Great London fog, coconut latte was very nice but not a very wide selection for coffee and cheese cake could be a lot better as it is expected from them, Still a very nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee, the lady at the shop was very helpful and kind and helped me pick out two very nice coffee beans
Hi quality shop of anything they offer.
Worked here for a season. Very different behind the scenes. No outdoor seating. Wheelchair accessible.
This is where I go when I need a sweet treat and a caffeined pick me up. A Victoria institution.
Fast service for how busy they are. Delicious beverages and pastries!
This place was amazing. So glad we got a chance to try Murchie's! With the wait!
Excellent service, great coffee and sweets!
The tea selection was quite good, they gave us the wrong order for our coffee but it was still good. Nice selection of sweets.
really good tea and snacks here!
It was really busy when we went (late morning on a Weds), but worth the wait in line. We had delicious quiches and London Fog style tea. They also have an incredible selection of loose and bag teas for sale.
Pretty place to look around. The price was little bit expensive, but you can try at least one time if you are traveler
Love their tea & sweets. Usually a line up, but it's worth it!!
So much tea. With a long history, it offers great verity of tea. And this location being in downtown, it a great place to sit and rest for a bit, why not try there great desserts while you rest. Yum! Pick up some tea souvenir too.
Best London fog and teas in town
Their hot chocolate and pastry is amazing. There used to be a toy shop downstairs but I guess it's gone now
Perfect cup of tea, very nice spot to relax and enjoy your tea.
Food is delicious here, but expect to wait in line for a few minutes.
Raspberry Danish and nanaimobar tea latte... best breakfast ever
Great pastries and the best breakfast sandwhich scones!
My favourite place in Victoria! Could sit here forever sipping on their soothing tea and scrumptious pastries. All are made in house too! Like a little bit of Europe in Canada. The ambience is perfect. Perfect location to study, visit, relax...this place is the best. Plus so many teas to take home and try for yourself!
This is a traditional bakery in Victoria. The line is always long, but you can wait for a delicious dessert. Also, tees are also good. But sometimes I can see dirty cups. It's probably busy or Starters, but it's important.
Excellent tea with and amazing quality. It's a must to drink a cup of tea in the tea capital.
Best tea and pastries in the area. If you love teacups, this is also the place for you.
Always fresh desserts, sandwiches, and coffee. Don't forget to bring a cake home.
The coffee here was fantastic. The food looked great and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Nice place to stop for a coffee.
Love the service! Had tiramisu and mango cheesecake paired with latte. Everything was delicious. Ended up buying teas and tea cups for souvenir. Great vacation at Victoria
the creme brule was stiff. the sugar wasnt crispy. the sugar was too burnt to enjoy. dont get the creme brule, but lattes were good
Wow!!! Love the goodies great place to relax and enjoy each other's company
So many choices for tea, coffee and superb treats. The best current scones with Devon cream and jam. Affordable prices. Eat in or takeaways.
One of the reasons to go to Victoria. Beautiful atmosphere, excellent tea and really, really delicious pastries.
Great selection, helpful but not obnoxious staff. The cafe section has loads of freshly made cakes and sandwiches - relax with a pot of perfectly brewed tea and chill. The space gets pretty noisy later in the afternoon, if you've got a book to write, come in quite early for the quiet.
Great quality food for the price. Only four stars because there is very little choices for people with allergies. Most of their lunch items come premade with cheese which really reduces my options. I'd go a lot more often for lunch otherwise!
Great coffee and treats and staff!
Do not be intimidated by the line! Places with crappy food rarely have a long line. If you want to know what a real scone tastes like, this is the place! Sorry, fair scones, you lose. My London Fog was perfect; however, the chai tasted like a steamer with cinnamon.
Everytime i go, i hate to wait in the long lineup. I ask myself "does this place really worth this much wait??". Too bad this is almost the only place in victoria to have decent pasteries with cup of tea, coffee or soup...
Murchie's is a great place to grab a latte and a treat that never disappoints with a friend. It is usually busy, but chit-chat and company will make the line pass by relatively quickly and give you a decent amount of time to make up your mind on what you want to nibble on, since the selection is really nice, making it difficult to choose. Personally, I recommend the fruit tart, it's a simple, but delicious little luxury that melts in your mouth. Not only that, but if your stomach can't handle too much sweet, this is a safe bet. I am never let down by their london fogs either. The only negative thing I can truly say is that I wish the tea salon was bigger. All in all, it is a great treat, or would make a good staple if you work downtown and have the time for the line. It's worth the wait.
A Victoria favourite with a wonderful selection of tea's & delicious desserts made on site. Many to choose from!
Amazing tea and sweets, but SUPER busy
Love the rasberry tea latte and carrot cake is moist, with cream cheese icing and No raisins!
Good coffee, great baked goods... always busy.
Great food and better coffee!
Great place to recharge. Found the place a little messy/dirty but their coffee was on point.
I've had their afternoon tea before from a friend and was so excited to go here for myself. The shop is beautiful and their tea is wonderful. I will stop here again when I eventually make it back to Victoria.
Great coffee. Great munchies, sandwiches & sweets. Big seating area. We were impressed.
I love the sense of an English shoppe - lots of wonderful teas and coffees. Great café, lovely store with tea pots and beautiful cups and mugs...a fun place to stop for snack while out and about in Victoria.
Lovely cafe and bakery. Everything was delicious.
Must try. Their food especially the Almond croissants are the best.
A place to both buy and taste good teas and coffees, plus healthy snack options.
Our traditional stop in Victoria!
Amazing coffee and pastries. The coffee and tea shop next door has the same quality products and great service.
Great tasting tea, you could purchase your own unique tea which is a great, and a nice cozy environment to sit inside and enjoy your beverage
Enjoy a peek into bygone days with delicious dessert and hot coffee
Everything I’ve tried here is fresh and delicious! Their coffee is top notch! Baked goods, sandwiches and cheesecakes are very yummy! Staff is always friendly and polite. Highly recommend!
If you want a place to have good dessert and coffee and tea I highly recommend
Even if you don't drink tea, its worth just walking through this place on your way by.
Non existent Covid 19 restrictions.
Great tea selection fits for a British theme city
Next level fine baked goods and excellent food - they also serve a darned good cup of coffee. The only bad thing I can say is that the order process is awkward and the store interior could be so much more (it's ugly) But the food takes it to five stars for me. Good value, nice staff, and I think very afforable for the quality.
A Fantastic place to be, warm, friendly and welcoming. Loved ???? it ty staff
Good sandwiches, busy line up!
I always love tea . So Murchie is great. Reminds me of bygone era. Different from David's tea. I like them too. Murchie sells more traditional types of tea.
A great place for coffee, tea, espresso and delicious baked goods and lunch items (fresh sandwiches, salads). It can get long lines, but they move fairly quickly and it's worth the wait!
Bought tea/goodie and sat outside. Spaced seating. Very nice.
Historic cafe The best coffee/tea and cake in town. Great apple strudel, brioches, scones, etc. The light snacks are good too.
Ordered the carrot and walnut muffin and coffee. Every dessert and item I saw I could try! Everything looks great. Kudos to the bakers and staff! The muffin looked and tasted delicious. Come early it can get busy.
If you have not been to a Murchie 's, it's worth a visit. The ambiance is gorgeous and the food is outstanding. Some of the servers are nice, others very quiet.
Delicious desserts and tea!
Croissant tastes like it's from a magical place. The tart here is so good; it's criminal! One phrase to define the tart, "to die for."
Delicious place to eat!! Have a lot of sugar breads and sweet foods, teas and coffees.
Great spot for a treat and lovely tea shop.
Quite good everything, although I'm suspicious about how long the items behind the glass have been there, not sure they're all fresh
Largest collection of tea sets I've even come across. If you want a fine China set this would be an excellent place to visit. Massive selection of teas. You can get loose leaf or tea bags. My girlfriend, an avid tea lover, found it difficult to narrow her selection down to just a few. There were simply too many amazing smelling teas! Coffee to buy I found rather disappointing. I've really taken to using my French press lately which means I grind my own beans. The coffee to buy here just didn't come in beans only, it was primarily pre-ground. This makes its way through the metal filter of a French press so I had no choice outside if their standard coffee to buy!
Don't forget when you are done having your tea to buy a few boxes for home. Murchie's is the best spot in town!
Our pumpkin tea lattes were delicious - not too sweet and the perfect amount of spice. The lemon blueberry biscotti is a great addition to any drink. Make sure to purchase some tea to bring home.
Little coffee shop with a lot of place to sit down. The pastries are really nice and the coffee tasted good. We returned the next day, but then they had run out of almost all pastries unfortunately.
Good coffee and a nice atmosphere, only downside is that there is often a lineup but I take that as a sign of the quality.
Fantastic tea and great food! Try the rum balls!
High quality, high price, good selection.
Fantastic place for Coffee, Tea Lunch or Dessert!
Nice shop, conviently located next door to Munro's Books. The Rum Balls are not to be missed.
I've been enjoying the best Christmas cake ever, baked at Murchie's. It is delectable, holds together - unlike some crumbling cakes - and has a slender topping of delicious marzipan - unlike the traditional oversweet thick marzipan. Congratulations to your chef!
Premium teas and pastries. Be prepared to wait in line due to its popularity.
I got so lucky with my timing when visiting Murchie's! Late Friday morning, I was able to walk in and wait just a couple of minutes (necessary - SO MANY CHOICES!) before ordering. Every other time I walked by, the line was out the door or close to it! Every little cake and tart and scone I tried was just perfect! The tea was wonderful and served in a nice big pot - plenty to share! Take a look at the "popular times" section of the Google Maps listing if you want a chance of walking straight up to the counter like I did! #letsguide
As a local I'd say this is the best hot chocolate in town. They have a fantastic selection of teas. The raspberry muffin I had today was maybe the best I've ever had!
Ive come here a couple times though I have lived in Victoria for years, I love their Panna Cotta fruit mix, amazing. The staff are quite friendly. Great positive atmosphere w/o the hustle and bustle, sit back & relax cause I know you'll enjoy it!
Amazing tea, awesome coffee and must eat pastries. I will return to this place anytime I am in Victoria island. This is 2021 and I am here again, in the probably the best tea place in west Canada. When I think of Victoria island, Murchie’s comes to my mind! ????
Your Christmas tea is amazing- I regret that we only bought one tin home with us. I guess we will have to come back for more!
Coffee and pastries are excellent but generally dis-interested staff lets them down. Likely jaded due to high volume of one-time tourist customers. Not an uncommon aspect of west coast venues, unfortunately.
Very classy place for tea and quick lunch.
This place is OK for lunch or coffee but I personally think there are better lunch spots in Victoria. The staff are very pleasant.
A great selection of the tea. Really love the way the measure the amount of the tea. I ordered a chai latte and I really enjoyed it!
Service is great and friendly. Products are delish
Visited this place two weeks ago and today, and now it’s one of my favorite places. Service is great especially considering the busyness of this place. Deserts are delicious and prices are liberal)
Excellent options of tea and sweet pastries, totally recommendable
Wow, serious tea selection, you can smell tea right out of huge tins, delightful!
Was in here today. The Panna cotta aND lavender iced tea were so good. The only complaint is that the glass on the display case was filthy.
Got some great tea and tea related gifts while visiting Victoria. Their pasty selection was amazing and I had one of the best Eclairs of my life.
A great place to shop!
A special Victoria experience. Lots of nice tea with special tea features at the bar each day. Their treats and pastries are diverse and rich. We had the rumball (more of a ball shaped rum moose) and it was rich, creamy, and nicely flavoured. They have nice sandwiches as well, though not many vegetarian options.
I liked place a lot, but it's very disappointing that bruschettas are reheated in microwave :(
Fun place for a huge range of teas and beautiful pastries!
Lovely interior, delicious selection of baked goods and beverages. Perfect location. The staff are wonderful. It had taken me years to try this place because the crowds were always so thick, but now Isee why that was. I always thought it was just a tourist trap but I couldn't have been more wrong. Go there in the off-season for a delicious breakfast or a coffee and pastry.
The girls behind the counter were very nice and everything tasted great. I had a giant chocolate cookie with a hot chocolate, and my mother had a raspberry tart with a hot apple cider. Yum!
Simply divine! Wonderful selection of savoury items, pastries and cakes. Tried their chocolate mousse truffle cake, which was super yummy and just the right amount of sweetness. Looking forward to going back again! They also sell many tea blends and all things that would pair perfectly with their menu.
We've been coming to Murchies for 17 years. The food is normally a fare mark above average. However, today the coffee was almost tasteless and the heavy cream for the scone was whipped to make it go further and so not heavy. These cost cutting measures will weaken even the strongest foundation.
Place give you a old vintage coffee house , come early to grab a table coz there is huge line for it, secondly the coffee is good can’t say much about the food , it’s the same bakery stuff you can get it from any other bakery in town and way better , so if you really a coffee enthusiast jst take a coffee or even buy there own brand coffee beans. :)
The best pumpkin spice latte and cinnamon bun!
It is a real treat to spend time in downtown Murchie's.
Wonderful selection of teas, coffee and yummy treats.
Great coffee and great breakfast! There are a lot of lovely desserts to come back and try.
We enjoy Murchie's every time we visit Victoria. The coffee is excellent and we like the cool old building. We leave space in our suitcase so we can bring coffee and tea home with us.
Good selection. Deserts and sandwiches . Lots of seating. Nice staff.
Murchie's is one of the best places to meet up with friends in Victoria. Coffee, tea and snacks are always fresh and the atmosphere is relaxing, especially outside when the weather permits.
Nice place for afternoon tea with some friends. The desert served are tasty.
Huge variety of teas available to purchase and a small cafe to buy a selection of pastries and enjoy with a beverage. I wish they had more samples to test as they only had 2 tasting samples.
Great place to enjoy your afternoon tea, coffee and pastry.
Had a awesome experience in having tea and sweets in such a lovely tea shop in downtown Victoria. Such a wide range of teas and coffees and variety sweets
I love this place. The ambiance, food, store and prices! It is a perfect place to spend some time for a meeting, to relax or chat with bff. The building adds a lot of character to what is already enjoyable
One of the best cake & tea place in Victoria. Reason pricing, good quality foods, kind staff!
A desserts haven.
Food and drink are excellent. Wifi is so weak it does not work at all.
Where to start on how wonderful it is? Amazing teas, plus the best pastries this side of the Seine - think Laduree level pastries with a Canadian flair. The only negative is the massive crush of people at certain times of day, but the staff does an excellent job moving things along.
Excellent coffee and tea. Great service.
Best fresh hot chocolate! Pastries are AH-MAZING!
Good selection of teas, excellent pastries, comfortable seating. I will go back
Have been purchasing teas, teapots and china mugs at Murchies for over 40 years. My favourite tea is their Library tea, a fragrant blend of green and black tea leaves. The tea shop and bakery are excellent, but for me it is the teas!
I LOVE Murchie's!!!! My grandma used to bring me here for hot chocolate when I was little (20+ years ago) and I recently went back... The hot chocolate is as good as I remember, and so are the biscotti! Definitely worth going here instead of Starbucks.
Amazing tea lattes and pastries. A must stop if you are in Victoria for any amount of time. Lines can get long but it is worth the wait.
Great service, great teas. It's pricey, but you get good quality for the price.
So happy we discovered Murchie’s on our holiday to Victoria! My daughter & I still use our pretty mugs we bought there & were beyond thrilled when we learned a local-to-us tea shop carries Murchie’s teas!!
Good place for breakfast; lot of choices and plenty of room to sit.
Great atmosphere and yummy treats, tea and coffee.
Good service. Great tasting deserts and specialty coffee.
No visit to Victoria is complete with out a stop here. Been poking into this store since I was a child with my grandmother. I was very upset to learn they no longer carry the savoury crisps. I’d give anything for a box of these!
I enjoy having my cheese cake. So yummy.... Saeed TripYar
It's wonderful to have a coffee place that isn't Starbucks. This place is a Victoria icon. There's the coffee counter side where they will serve your coffee in a real mug and your tea in a China pot, all on a pewter tray. On the other side, they sell bulk coffee and tea and gift sets. We didn't try the baked goods, but they looked really good.
Little bit of a long line. Overall great treat. We had macaroons on one visit and a marzipan slice with tea on another. Really liked that they served everything on trays. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy.
My go-to place for morning coffee and espresso. Absolutely stunning collection of pastries and cakes.
Like a Tardis, Murchie's is much bigger on the inside, and takes you back in time. One of the first things you'll notice, apart from there always being a line of eager customers, are the high ceilings. With their painted tin designs lit from the edge, they give the interior a huge sense of space. While it's often busy, there are dozens of tables between the front and rear areas, as well as a few outside when the weather's good - which it often is, in Victoria. I recommend the front window for people-watching in any weather, or the rear windows for some quieter reading or light working. There's a solid selection of sandwiches, for both lunch and breakfast( get there early in the morning for those! )as well as all sorts of treats for dessert. Muffins and scones round out the edibles: always tasty! Both coffee-lovers and tea-takers will find a wide variety of drinks to choose from, and there's literally tons of tea for sale in the other half of Murchie's - worth checking out any time of the year, especially for gifts. The staff are attentive and work hard to keep the line moving, as well as bus the tables. Murchie's is an institution in Victoria and it's a rare day indeed that it's not busy; I've never seen it actually be slow. Groups of five or more might have trouble finding a table without waiting, but long stays aren't discouraged as long as you top up your drinks. Quieter conversation is a given; loud parties of people aren't the norm here, making it the perfect place to kick back and just get to know people.
For years; Thier teas and coffees have always been a favourite. I do though miss thier afternoon high tea service.
Great selection of baked goods and beverages! Also, the shop has tons of adorable teasets and accoutrements.
My favorite casual lunch spot in town. Wonderful staff. They use high quality ingredients. Delicious!
Great selection of quality tea and coffee.
I enjoyed my first visit to Murchie's Tea & Coffee. There were other coffee drinkers, no surprise, people buying snacks to go, police people grabbing coffee, and dog catchers chasing a dog in circles around the block. :) The coffee was good too.
Always busy but the food and beverages are amazing. LOVE the macarons. They also have breakfast/lunch things to enjoy.
The best source for loose teas. Try the UVA Ceylon. Then have a pot of tea and a scone. Terrific.
Best desserts in town, wide selection of teas, and even the coffee is good.
Our go to Cafe when visiting Victoria. Great coffee and treats, prices are reasonable.
One of our favorite coffee houses in Victoria. Fantastic line up of baked goods.
Great selection of teas, bad cappuccino, huge tasteless muffins, very ordinary pastries, Long lineups. Sorry not a great place
Good coffee, chai, etc. No vegan options.
Friendly staff, nice variety of teas (and some coffees) and a variety of products pertaining to hot (and sometimes cold) beverage drinks made it fun exploring the store. They also have an adjoining beverage/food counter that has great offerings.
Good coffee and pastries. There's also a the shop beside the cafe. There's a lot of seating but it was still hard to find one. You should try to Victoria Fog, it's great! There’s also a variety of sandwiches and pies to try if you feel like having something savoury.
The best biscotti I've ever had. Keep it up.
My wife and I went here for lunch and it didn't disappoint! We both got hot chocolates and a sandwich (The Portofino and the Barcelona) all were delicious! The shop offers an array of desserts and warm drinks. The place was busy, but we were able to find seating. There is also a store front that sells tea and coffee merchandise.
Nice as usual and very busy. We always enjoy that place.
Delicious sandwiches, baked goods and drinks. This place has been a staple for my family for decades. I love having and gifting their teas too.
Wish they could keep the place cleaner. Always seems so chaotic. But otherwise good food and a quintessential Victoria stop.
Had a sparkling tea lemonade - very tasty on a hot day.
A classic, Victoria cafe and must visit for anyone new. They carry a nice variety of baked goods, desserts and light snacks along with great teas and coffees. A welcome interior with friendly staff located along historical Government street.
I LOVE Murchie’s loose teas and scones. I’ve been here multiple times throughout the year and now I’ve become an online customer since I am trying to reduce how much I go out. But PLEASE stop working with Loomis Express for BC orders. They are horrific. I don’t think they actually deliver packages.
Superb tea I've been drinking it for years and it never disappoints
Please making sure your staffs wear mask specially they are taking orders and also make our drinks. Visit on Saturday afternoon and my server DIDN'T wear a mask, will not come back if you don't care about public health During the pandemic.
Wow! If you love tea and coffee, you'll love the selection here!!! What a beautiful, well organized shop. All the tea and coffee accessories are here :) try the eclairs, you won't be disappointed. 10/10 I'll be back ????????
I give the customer service an A+! Everything looks so pretty and tastes so delicious!
Love going to Murchies for tea. Great baked goods and nice sandwiches.
This place is insane for tea lovers, the mugs are extraordinary, felt like buying everything, hard to resist. There's free samples as well.
Espresso based drinks are awful. Way too hot, extremely weak and watery. If my experience was any indication of their average product, then I say stay away. If you like coffee (not Starbucks), go to Discovery or Habit.
It is not easy to find real iced tea in the Pacific Northwest. Here they'll make you a nice, refreshing iced tea brewed from real tea. Perfect place to stop and get refreshed while wondering the streets of Victoria.
Great location and a beautiful storefront with enjoyable coffees and teas too bad the cakes are not at par. Better cakes are sold at save on food for a fraction of the price. But what shocked me was the amateurish staff, my crème brûlée got scooped out of the “display plate” and tossed in a small soup cardboard container, just looked like vomit for a 5$+ this is distasteful
Tends to trade on their name and target tourists. Poor service, dirty cutlery and chipped cups made our last visit less than rewarding. Tea store has some interesting features.
The variety of teas, fresh cakes and coffees is so high, you will love it
No place better for sandwiches, pastries, desserts and baked stuff.
We love this place so much that not only do we stock up whenever we are in town, we also order online to tide us over. Their teas are amazing fragrant blends that are full of flavour.
Fresh breakfast. Awesome tea/coffee. Very reasonable pricing. Hidden gem
Stopped in for a latte and it was very good. Good looking selection of baked goods and some tasty looking sandwiches, too.
This is one of my favourite places to visit. It gets a little busy during tourist season, but it's worth the wait.
Okay coffee served at molten lava temperatures. There are better places such as Cafe Fantastico.
Nice little shop area, the tea was quite lovely. Definitely a must visit while in Victoria.
Beautiful pastries in this old-school coffee, tea and pastries shop. Looks like quality products. I had Avery tasty raisin danish. The wait was pretty long today, to order and to get the coffees.
It is very nice place for cafe, tea and sweets. But in the entrance you feel some smell from its kitchen area which is not very pleasing. But experience of being here is great
Great scone and drinks. Lots of tea options.
If you're new to town or just visiting, this place is an absolute must. The teas and desserts are delicious and if you like the flavor you tried, they sell the teas in house for you to take home!
Great coffee and good selection of food at a reasonable price. Friendly helpful staff despite them being constantly busy.
A Victoria institution! There is always a delicious selection of sandwiches, treats, and a huge selection of interesting teas. Great place for brunch, lunch or an afternoon snack.
Lots of tea all over the place. If they dont have it, I doubt you could find it elsewherr.
Amazing! Soooo much goodness and fun. A must see. AND look for th e fairy doors!
Great service, though sometimes busy. Large seating area inside. Great tea selection.
Great selection of coffee, teas and deserts. Good small meals are available. Weekend and afternoon tea is served in their tea room. Shop has everything tea and coffee
Tea and scone, cream and jam $10! Let's see... Enjoy this or pay god knows how much at a certain hotel, for a certain high tea... I'll take Murchies any day of the week. Their own afternoon blend, delish. Those scones are fluffy, soft, and just melt in your mouth. And their tea bags and merchandise are really affordable, make great gifts. It's a must see in Victoria.
Love this place. Great tea selection. Great food. Nice ajoining shop. Coffee selection is good as well. Cosy and spacious. Worth the stop!
We love stopping in at Murchie's Tea when we are visiting downtown. The treats are delicious and there are lots of cozy corners for chats with friends.
If your a Tea lover, your in for a delightful surprise. You can order just about any types of blends from almost any country. Portions are average, but very good quality meats and cheeses to choose from. All bread is homemade. The prices for a typical lunch ranges from around $12-16 dollars.
Super tasty food and great staff:)
Too many teas to count! Decision making is always difficult in this place. The food is all superb. Every time I think of tea; I'm reminded of how amazing the scones are at Murchie's.
Nice place with delicious food. Sandwiches are the best
Very nice store. Bought a cup and saucer reasonably priced. Coffee and food good but expensive.
Love the tea selection, layout is very pretty, cakes are awesome - My favorite is gateaux Munchies....the place can be very crowded at times so be prepared to wait in the lines
Lovely lunch and baked goods and lots of sitting room
Murchie's is one of my favorites places to go as a lover of tea. But, I really wish they would work on the atmosphere it has sadly gone m down hill over the years... freshen it up, throw in some plants. And the music that is play is ridiculous. They should be playing classical and jazz not the theme from star wars. You want to set a mood, give this beautiful piece of history a wow factor.
A classic. Great tea, great scones with b/j and very reasonable prices. Beats the big box competitors. Enjoy!
World-famous for their teas and coffee, Murchie's is a great place any time of the year!
A great place to hang out with a friend or to catch up over done business talk. Love their caramel macchiato!
Cute atmosphere, great selection of drinks and desserts. Delicious sandwiches. Always great service.
Stopped by for a scone and a coffee. The scone was fluffy, warm and buttery and very nice. The coffee beans they use are not great and I regretted ordering a drip, perhaps their lattes are better. The feel of the place is clean but very commercial and a tourist hotspot. Don't expect the small local vibe here. Overall it's fine but I'd go elsewhere in the future.
Another great Victoria institution. I have never been disappointed when I went for tea at murchies. All there wonderful deserts and food are on display and all I want to do is have one of everything.
Another bakery delight...fruit crumble and chairs latte
Great service and atmosphere. Croissant and shortbread cookies were awesome.
An affordable place to have "high tea" with friends/family. I personally enjoy their selection of black teas a lot -- I highly recommend the Diamond Jubilee blend!
Fantastic place for fantastic desserts, watch out for people having foodgasms
Fantastic tea blends, classy metal serving trays, friendly knowledgeable staff, and decent prices
The food is always delicious here! It often very busy but the line moves quickly. Staff are very helpful.
Great atmosphere and selection.
Delightful, busy tea shop and cafe. More options in tea choices than we can get in the US. Wonderful Tea Latte.
Famous Murchies! Good pastries and sandwiches in a welcome ambience for dining alone or with a friend. It's a popular place so expect a line up at the counter. Breakfast, lunch or coffee break recommended.
Old world charm and near everything. This place is in the heart of Victoria on government street. Their hot chocolate is amazing and they have a selection of freshly made pastries and sandwiches that will blow your socks off. There's also a store linked to it that sells premium coffee and tea as well as tea sets and other stuff. It's also near munroe's books, top 3 book stores in the WORLD, and a whole bunch of awesome bars like bard and banker or a famous local chocolate manufacturer Rogers chocolate.
I like to drink coffee here, very nice interior. Lovely staff.
Lots of options of pasterries and sweets. And food coffee. Quite busy but it's rated well I'm sure that's why
Such a great place to come and grab a nice hot beverage while walking around downtown Victoria. They have to most delicious pastries and sweets. 10/10 recommend
Busy and buzzing. Finding a seat might be a struggle but tea and coffee and cake is exceptional!
Great tea! Just don’t order the citrus iced tea - it’s full of sweetener. The carrot cake wasn’t that great. At least the prices are reasonable. I did go back multiple times just for the tea.
Down to earth coffee shop in a sea of hipster cafes. The chai lattes are great and you can get them in a number of flavours. A Victoria classic. Always busy.
Great pastry, coffee and tea. The ambience for drinking tea and working is wonderful Will come back
I call to order a cake. The one who picked up my phone is very rude!
Delicious. What else is there to say.
Right at the heart of downtown Victoria is this place. It is very large on the inside with decent seating area. There's a steady line throughout the day with peaks at lunch and during midday. Great for a coffee, light snack, or lunch. They serve pastries, sweets, sandwiches, paninis, sausage rolls, pasta salads, potato salads, and a wide selection of coffees and teas. It's kind of a "something for everyone" type of place. The sausage roll with the homemade Dijon mustard was actually quite tasty. Would recommend as a quick stop if you are shopping in Victoria and looking for somewhere to relax.
Look for old world charm and elegance in the coffee shop. The food is all very good. Browse the adjoining shop. You will find everything tea and coffee there.
Prince Charles tea is all you need
Didn't have their full pastry selection available at opening, were short staffed to handle the morning rush, didn't handle the line properly and forced several guests who were waiting to leave the line.
Little birdies eating my crumbs. Best almond croissant I’ve had. Tis’ a good day indeed
Very cool cafe with HUGE interior, fantastic food and great selection of desert, very good coffee and the tea selection is unmatched
Lots of great gifts and nice takeout drinks. Their 1864 tea is marvelous.
Always a must visit whenever I come to Victoria. The sandwiches are amazing and there is a wide selection of pastries which all taste amazing. The prices are all very reasonable too and the staff very friendly and professional
Always friendly service. One of the oldest tea rooms in Canada!
Hard to beat a mug (bowl) of Murchie's hot chocolate around the holidays.
Wonderful teas and coffees. Try a Victoria Fog with a tasty pastry or macaron.
The loveliest cafe experience. The ideal cafe for those who truly love an authentic and lovely cafe experience. Reminded me of cafe experiences I’ve had in Europe which is so lovely. Also they have many varieties of teas that are great. And a lot of food and breakfast and dessert options. The croissants are fresh and wonderful also.
They forgot to provide me with a mug for my pot of tea. That’s a first! And I ordered green tea and they gave me black. The tea was bagged and not loose leaf, which is disappointing. Otherwise, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, tasty bacon and egg scone and attractive silver trays.
Victoria fog was delicious. Blueberry danish was heaven!
This is a must visit place for any visitor. The shop has a wonderful range of teas to buy.
Wonderful and friendly service. Excellent food, coffee, and tea. I highly recommend the black currant scone with black currant jam.
Overpriced and crowded but at the same time, charming and quintessentially Victorian. If you're okay with waiting some time and eating relatively mediocre pastry in a noisy environment, this is the place for you.
Delicious scone and chai!
One of my favourite places to go for lunch or for coffee. Great sandwiches and a dangerously delicious selection of pastries and cakes. Raspberry temptation tea lattes are delicious. Picked up a chocolate frenzie cake for my birthday this year and it was really yummy. (You can buy whole cakes as well as getting slices to eat at lunch.) Seating is plentiful, which is good because it is always crowded.
Great, bold, flavorful coffee and lattes. We did not have any food here, but it all looked amazing. You can get anything from sandwiches, to desserts, to whole cheesecakes, and cookies the size of your face.
We love this place for their tea, pastries, and food. It's a perfect place to sit down and rest your feet after walking around downtown Victoria. Their price is very reasonable, considering the experience, taste and location. It's a good place to chill either alone or in a group. The cafe is attached to the tea shop, which is a nice place to tour.
FANTASTIC COFFEE SHOP AND BAKERY. BEST SCONES WITH JAM AND CREAM. WORTH THE DRIVE IF YOU LIVE OUT OF TOWN
Great treats and great staff too. They are busy but not too busy to help when you need it. Thanks so much.
Disappointed with the product knowledge of the tea store employee at this Murchie's. I was informed that English Afternoon Loose Tea had all Ceylon tea leaves, which is what I was looking for. However, after my purchase I found out that it is a blend of two teas. I wish the employee, who seemed experienced enough, had better knowledge of the product. This review is for the tea-store adjacent to the tea and pastry side (which is nice).
Great chefs!! Cakes are very good. Service not! Very slow line up, inefficient payment system. Is not a place for an in- and- out coffee.
Excellent tea selection and a surprisingly good cup of joe and breakfast and lunch fare.
Wow, what a fantastic place. Great beverages and fresh pastries and cakes. Very original and rustic, great place to visit by locals and tourists.
Fabulous tea selection and a tearoom to rest after a day exploring the city. Great desserts as well.
Fancy schmancy Murchie's and it's extra charge for almond or soy milk - there are better coffee shops near by that don't charge for dairy alternative milks
I’ve only been there once but the coffee over there is very good and the environment is also very good.
Great tea at good value. Only complaint is the service: the single till for such a popular store is insufficient, leads to long lines, and time pressured staff that inevitably make errors with your orders. That said the service is tolerable given the quality of product.
My grandmother used to buy tea at Murchie's from the 1940s to late 80s. We have always had a tin of some kind of Murchie's tea in the cupboard.
I loved my experience at murchies with the nice employees to the wonderful selection of tea and teapot
Iced Americano was excellent, wouldn't recommend the liquid sugar though.
Hadn't been to Murchie's in a long time. My wife and I were looking for something late afternoon to celebrate new business. I decided on a classic tea and a current scone (warmed with jam and cream cheese); my wife chose the creme brulee. Delighted with both offerings. Scone was light, flakey, heated to perfection, with just the right sort of jam. Waiter came by to offer to refill the pot (nice touch). So pleased I went back the next morning for coffee and a grilled Monte Cristo sandwich. Can't be beat. Choose the back (carpeted) room which is quieter and has more comfy chairs. Great location in downtown Victoria.
Awesome tea selection with delicious sandwiches and freshly baked desserts. Be prepared to wait as this is a popular destination. When you finish your tea, wander the tea shop and see the many locally blended teas.
A classic in downtown Victoria. Get a book at Munro's then go next door for tea and pastries.
Great selection of tea and coffee. Wide selection of pastry. Make your own high tea experience.
Coffee and tea were good, and bought some for home later in. Loss of a star because their strawberry cheesecake was just okay, very subtle in flavor and a bit pricey for what it was. Coffee was good but nothing too special, again a bit pricey for what it was. No latte art but that's not really a big deal for me, I know it is for some people. I probably wouldn't go back unless my friends wanted too.
The line was long, the cashier forgot that I didn’t want milk in the tea (probably because it was busy), but the coffee beans were pretty cheap! And the space itself is very cool.
Lots of pastry selection. Good coffee.
Cool environment. Didnt have any of the product so i am reviewing based on the building
The food and service are amazing. I wish we had one in Seattle. Watch out Veggie Grill.
Always such a nice place to go with family and decorative/tasty food
Best tea and yummy cakes in town. Tea selection is tremendous. Coffee as well. Also has sandwiches etc.
Would not reccomend going here if you have any kind of allergies. Staff have ZERO knowledge on what's in what. Nobody knew what was gluten free. I had to wait 5 mins for the cashier to call someone and even the person she called had no idea what what going on. Super unsatisfied and you'd expect a "higher end" place to have knowledgable staff and have more options for people with allergies. Won't be coming back ever again
Located right in the middle of Victoria's downtown, this was a great spot to grab tea before dinner. Plenty of seating, and quick service!
Murchie's is a Victoria must. I love the coffee, tea and snacks. When I visit, I make a point of getting breakfast there. The retail tea selection is amazing.
Amazing how big it is. Large selection of baked goods, great tea, very crowded though.
Great tea and coffee, and great service! Go there once a week for their yummy Raspberry Temptation!
We visited this place after hearing that the Queen visits this place during her visits to Victoria! We are big tea drinkers and are always looking to try new things. We tried the hot apple cider (which was the best I’ve ever tried) and the murchies afternoon tea which is they’re own blend of black and green tea (we didn’t add cream or sugar to it but it’s to you’re liking) and we tried they’re desserts, now due to us visiting close to closing time we only got macaroons which were so soft and flavorful, that we went back and picked up whatever they had left in the display! If you’re visiting Victoria, Murchies is a definite place to visit!
Awesome food.... it gets busy but it has a quick staff... if you are a tea lover thats your place.!!
Very cozy. Great staff. Very busy all the time. Super relaxed for coffee and a snack or you can definitely have a proper "tea" with royal family treatment along with the silver platter. So much love for this little gem.
Many different delicious drink and food options. Everything isade fresh and locally. Some of tjeor tea and coffee blends are only available at this specific location.
I love Murchie's tea collection and its history. I restocked on my favourite apricot tea (try Orchard Twist). For today's visit in the tea salon/cafe we tried the Victoria Fog and Murchie's Medley and a fruit tart. The tart was crunchy and crumbly, totally loved it. I've tried other baked treats on their menu but since I went late they didn't have a lot to choose from. The Victoria Fog was dissapointing though, too watery and very dilute. Although my Victoria Fog was warm and aromatic, I wish it was a bit more hot.
Good dessert options, I usually get the tarts or the éclairs. Would be nice if they made the chocolate éclair with a yellow custard filling though. Try out their Earl Grey tea Latte.
Really tasteful latte, the best in Victoria. You can buy their coffee also. It's a spacious place so you won't be taking your coffee standing. The amount of spots they have available can handles high volume of customers pretty easy. Highly recommended.
This is such a cute place to get coffee, tea, or a yummy treat while in Victoria. It is in a beautiful, old building. They also have a really great gift store attached to the shop where you can buy any tea you could ever want. The coffee and treats were delicious. I will be coming back to Murchie's the next time I come to Victoria!
Nice place and good pastries not only for a tea in the afternoon, but also for a classic breakfast with cappuccino in the morning. Perfect location
Their collection of teas is the best! Please try their Jasmine Harmony or the Hazelnut flavour. They had seasonal flavours as well - The Christmas Tea. Also, they have interesting collection of sandwiches and pastries.
Great place to get your drink on
Food is delicious. Nice atmosphere for eating
Great desert as always, however the place is looking worn and tired. It is the same paint job as 20 years ago. Stains on the walls, layer of dust on the display cabinets, cobwebs on the light fixtures, black buildup in the silicone beads on the display glass. Needs a major reno and life brought back to the building. But like I said food is very good. Just looking run down and not a Victoria Pillar.
Great place to have a nice cup of tea or pick up a gift
Such a cute café with lots and lots of sitting space to choose from. Also, darn those delicious desserts they make you stare at while you wait in line to order. They always get me... Highly recommended!
Absolutely adored it here! The environment is super fun, the desserts and coffees are AMAZING. If you're down town Victoria you have to stop in for an afternoon coffee or the Victoria fog!
Service was quick and staff was more than charming! Food and drink were excellent.
Really great menu and delicious tea. Fair warning though while the food is fair price, but the gift shop is not
Fantastic sustenance, along with some of the best sweets around. And of course, the tea is superb.
I have visited Murchies Victoria location and mail ordered their teas for over three decades. I have thoroughly enjoyed their products and service; always.
A nice spot for a cup of tea or coffee and a treat. Highly recommend.Very popular so sometimes hard to find a table especially if you are a large group. Also it is right along the tourist strip so it can be overcrowded at times.
This is always a go to whenever we visit. Breakfast, tea and pastries are all amazing.
Tea drinkers paradise.....plus some coffees of course. Relax with a lovely drink of tea of any flavour imaginable and enjoy a slice of cake.
Murchie's used to be amazing. Not so much anymore. In fairness, it was quite busy, with a line up and the staff seemed ill prepared and ill trained to deal with it. Our party had a simple order. Scones and tea. The tables were all dirty and we had to clear and clean one ourselves. When we got our order, my scone had not been heated as requested. I took it back and asked if they could heat it for me and the girl put her finger up without saying anything like "I'm busy" and walked away. So I stood waiting for someone to help me and when they finally did (5 mins later), they put my scone in the microwave and walked away. I heard the microwave stop, but no one pulled my scone out and I waited another 5 mins. I finally asked a server if they could please grab my scone and they looked at me with a blank stare and then pulled it out if the microwave. I said thank you and she never spoke a word to me. When I returned to my table the rest of my party had finished. My tea had gone cold and even heated up, the scone tasted like it was stale. I used to love this place. Not sure I will return.
Nice and large. It has most things you need for a cup of tea
Cute tea cafe! Amazing coffee & tea. Delicious in house bakery items! A must visit when in town!
Everything here is amazing from coffee to cheesecake
The best flavors! their sandwiches, drinks and desserts are amazing. And if tea is your thing this is the spot!
The best coffee shop in Victoria. Great coffee, tasty snacks and delicious pastries. Staff are unfailingly friendly and the seating is Covid friendly.
I’m a big fan of their sandwiches. I like to get a sandwich and take it down to the harbour and eat it there. Nice afternoon lunch.
Love the vibes here and they make a fabulous London Fog! Wish they had some vegan treats to go with my tea though!
Great place to get tea and some treats. Nice atmosphere, staff are friendly and awesome. -1 For seeing a mouse. +1 cause it was cute
Great atmosphere, good selection of China wear tea pots and cups.
Great place for coffee and a snack yet be prepared to wait, always busy...
Yummy Tiramisu my favorite in the town.
It’s a whole other world walking into Murchie’s staff is super nice and willing to help. One of the best creme brûlée’s I’ve ever had. The ice tea is to die for. You get your money’s worth!
There is no changing table or place to change a baby in the men's restroom. Very surprising, had to change my baby on the floor.
I have been visiting Murchie's since I was a little boy and it has always been a special visit. The tea, coffee, pastries, and specials are always incredible. Plus the cakes... They are legendary. A wonderful place to meet a friend and hang out, to read a book alone, or to grab a coffee on the go.
Always a great experience. Great food & beverages with a bright & airy seating area in the back. Like the tea or coffee blend you're drinking? Pop into the tea shop (no need to go outside, they're attached) and get some to make at home. They also carry a great selection of gifts.
Nice place with good selection of pastries and tea. Not a coffee place though.
This cafe/bakery is popular with tourists, but it's also a favourite getaway for many locals. Their tea lineup is superb and a pot of tea here is great value. In terms of savoury offerings, their breakfast scones are excellent as are their sandwiches -- especially recommend the (vegetarian) Greek. All their pastries are good, but my go-to is their bread pudding. Yes, it doesn't look or sound exciting, but the bread pudding never fails to wow anyone that I can persuade to try it. There's a perpetual queue but it moves quickly and the staff are friendly, patient and efficient. Murchies is a Victoria institution -- justifiably!
Wow! This place is as good as the reviews say. The tea is absolutely lovely. The tea lattes were so rich and creamy, not overly sweet and atomic. Great flavour to go with the food. Better deal than high tea and you get to pick what you want. The cheesecake was very good so was the creek brûlée. The macaroons were on point. The only place I tried with better macaroons is Thomas Keller’s bouchon bakery in NYC. The macaroons at murchies reminded me of those.
Enormous amount of tea and coffee selections and paraphernalia to purchase and the same for their eating/drinking menu! Great atmosphere and quality of items to eat and buy. Definitely worth the visit and bringing visitors to the place.
Had the Victoria Fog latte and it was really good. Just make sure to take the tea bags out or it's too strong towards the end.
Great cafe, great tea, but very long lines, not the best desserts and no table service.
Massive collection of teas, coffees, fine china and unique tea-themed gifts!! If you like tea, this is a dream location for you! The gift shop is just huge! Their cafe can sometimes have a long line up, but it is more than worth the wait. Scrumptious desserts, delicious drinks and tasty savoury items. Service is outstanding by the staff and it is always clean and tidy! Excellent wheelchair accessibility in both the gift shop and cafe. Don't forget to grab a free tea sample at the front of the gift shop!
So where do 4 Brits off a cruise liner go for coffee in Victoria? It has to be Murchies. Very popular with locals and do good coffee and cake. The shop has some really good items too.
Always phenomenal. My wife and I always stop in when we are in Victoria. I tried their hot apple cider, with whipped cream, of course. It is phenomenal. My wife is into tea. She is a big fan of their number 10. Their sandwiches and desserts are simply delectable. Worth a stop every time.
Everything here is delicious, the tea, the pastries, the sandwiches! It's such a beautiful building and there's so much to look at. I love Murchies, it is definitely a must see in Victoria, a well loved part of the city.
Best tea/coffee house in the city by far! The only place you could go for both Viennese style kaffee und kuchen AND English style teatime. Everything is high quality and the service is fast. Murchies never disappoints!
Best bakery I've ever been!!
The staff here is very sweet and welcoming. Very relaxing coffee shop/bakery, lots of space and seating.
Murchies combines a beautiful Victorian aesthetic with modern sensibilities. Their tea blends are fantastic and their edibles divine. Especially lovely is their panna cotta. In the heart of downtown life, it's easily accessed and very popular with tourists and locals alike.
Great tea and treats in a classy environment
Good coffee great tea and friendly service.
Really busy but had delicious lattes and soup. Many options of little desserts.
This is definitely one of the corner stones of downtown Victoria. The fact it took so long for the brand to come to the mainland is ridiculous. The tea is delicous and bountiful with selection. The Murchies Medley tea you can get is a delicous drink with vanilla and caramel. Along with hot chocolates and coffees, this massive tea shop is something you need to see when visiting Victoria!
It's pretty good. Definetly 3 star coffee. The sounds like coffee dude around the corner really is better.
It's my go to place for lunch or coffee. We send guests there for breakfast rather than cooking for them. Historic. Great staff. If you need help ask them to carry your food to your table. Good gift shop. They will ship tea and coffee orders and other gifts. ACCESSIBLE entry for wheelchairs and scooters. Elevator to accessible toilets in the lower level, although they're a bit cramped. Ramp inside on the gift shop side for a change in floor level.
Super cute tea cafe. Different seating areas, different kinds of tea and coffee. I absolutely love this place
Great place to come for afternoon tea and dessert. A must visit when you come to Victoria.
Great small coffee shop off the main street. The offer small food items along with the coffee.
The dessert was dry, and the staff seemed less interested in a good experience than they did years ago.
Nice place to have a hot chocolate and something from the bakery,
I ordered blue berry tea first time and realized that it was great choice. Their cake is always amazing and fresh. The customer service is wonderful. All staffs are friendly and kind. They always make me happy. Thank you!
Pastries are a bit too sweet, but they have a good array of teas.
What a nice heritage tea merchant place, the bakeries are delicious and reasonably. Highly suggest you try their storm watcher tea if you like a strong black tea.
Good social distancing in coffee area.
Love this place. Reasonable price and lovely environment.
Very classy and I love the way they serve the order. Attention to details really adds to the overall experience
AMAZING!!! - one word but tells a lot :)
Excellent tea and very helpful staff make this historical store a fun shopping experience for all tea lovers. I love watching the tea getting measured in the antique scales. I recommended the floral teas. I find Murchies to do a particularly good job with these.
Actually worth navigating the crowds. Nice place for a coffee date.
Delicious baked goods! Coffee was great too. Feels super fancy being served on a silver tray.
Happy time set I would come back again. Come taste and experience yourself.
This is my absolute favourite place for tea; Either to have a cup in the cafe or take it home. Their cafe desserts are also super tasty. Would reccomend for any tea lover
Vancouver Island's oldest manufacturer of tea and coffee. All of my family has to visit the store when they come out to see me. When they can't make it out to see me, I end up shipping large quantities of tea to them. Absolutely a must visit for anyone who loves a quality tea or coffee.
Beautiful baked goods, desserts, teas and coffee drinks
Very neat and authentic café located on government street. Their tea lattes are definitely something you have to try!
A Victoria institution. Murchie's has surprisingly reasonable prices for a spot so associated with tourists. We like to come for their good, morning coffee and pastries.
great selection of teas, choice of food and vibrant atmosphere
This is a tea drinker's paradise. The sections are fabulous and the staff are very knowledgable. The lunch menu and dessert offerings are a little pricy but they are delicious. We look forward to visiting Murchie's every time we visit Victoria.
There is better coffee in Victoria, yes. But the food and tea here is superb, the atmosphere is old-school charming, and the service great. Feels like it probably hasn't changed since the 1950s... in the good way.
Covid measures in place. No in restaurant dining. Great coffee and snacks at a decent price.
Great place for tea. Lots of merchandise for myself or gifts. Service is exceptional.
Most unique tea store I've ever been to.
Great tea selection (and coffee) for those enthusiasts!
Consistently rude customer service. Been here several times over the years and it’s always the same experience, unfortunately.
We always come here when we are in Victoria. My wife had a sweetheart latte, which she said was dessert in a cup. My late with almond milk was perfect. The rum ball was rich & decadent.
Ordered 10 items. Some sweet and some savory. The display cases showcase the food wonderfully and the the staff do a great job in keeping a crazy line moving smoothly. Oh right! The food. 9 out of 10. Everything was delectable and, amazingly, reasonable in price. Nine gold medals and one pretty terrible item, in my humble opinion, means this place is solid gold.
Amazing cakes. Worth every dollar they charge.
I visited Murchie’s Tea & Coffee after hearing it had been around for a long time. The spot smelled beautifully of tea, and I loved every tea that I tasted! They offer seasonal teas and the recommendations from the knowledgable staff were delicious as well. If you enjoy black teas, you definitely have to visit!
A large variety Desserts, Coffee and Teas. Very nice atmosphere. A great place to visit if you are touring around Victoria.
Loved the hot chocolate and creme brulee. Totally recommend it!!
Great spot for a coffee and a pastry.
Nice atmosphere, their baked treats looked nice. The one I had was good. My chai latte was nothing exciting but was luke warm when I received it. Other coffees from our group were fine.
Great food, long line ups though
Nice variety of coffees, teas, and desserts, with large seating area. Not really comfortable enough to sit and read, but good for a brief stop.
Demand a 15% tip when we brought our drink and snack paying with our card. This something Tim’s Horton doesn’t do. Won’t back until COVID is over.
Went to the one in hillside mall. I bought a Danish and the paper was stuck to the bottom side. Tried peeling it off but came in small amounts leaving paper behind. Could not get it all off. Threw Danish away. Not a professionally baked item or it sat out to long. The one downtown is way better and the staff a lot more friendly.
Coffee was strong and really packed a caffeine punch. Pastries were lovely and the staff were very friendly. Seating was nice and there was quite a bit of it in comparison with other places nearby, so less worrying about not getting a seat while you wait in line.
Fantastic! A bit of a wait to get to the front of the line, but the teas and treats were so delicious! Especially appreciated the sugar-free options, one of the members of our party had dietary limits, and she loved the mousse.
Racist Cashier server. Won't be back here for very long time.
Always cute and with great customer service. The store next door has a great selection of tea and tea sets
If you go to Victoria Murchirs is a must. Great coffee and pastries.
Great pastries and scones with real clotted cream! I wish there was more comfortable seating and less of a cafeteria atmosphere.
Wish this was just down the street , although then I would be 40lbs heavier. This is a fantastic tea shoppe. The food quality is amazing and the tea and coffee selection is huge. I ordered the Princess Lavender Latte and have been dreaming about it since. It has a good amount of table and chairs to sit and also has a nice shop selling tea related items like cups , teapots etc. And not to forget the actual shop selling loose teas. Well worth a visit.
Great tea selection and a good spot for a snack at their cafe.
The coffee is great!
Do not tell customers to pull up their masks. I will not support government minions. Let our government hire their own mask police. You do the job you were hired for. Serve tea. That’s it!
Great place for tea and dessert with friends. Come here every time I am in Victoria.
Great breakfast, get there before they sell out of the bacon & egg scone.
Great place, very quaint; tea was good. Surprisingly spacious and well-appointed sitting space. Beats Starbucks in every aspect, including, surprisingly, location.
Great place to stock up on tea. Great cafe with coffee and awesome pastries.
Nice atmosphere, great background music. Servings good.
Huge cafe and tea/coffee store. Giant selection of desserts from the simple to very fancy. Modest selection of sandwiches and savory things. Huge selection of good if not spectacular teas and tea lattes. A large space with a glass and tile vibe. Always busy, noisy, and heavily trafficked with tourists. Tables don't get cleaned often. There's a large, more quiet, and warm-feeling "Tea Salon" room in back. Restroom is downstairs and requires code from cashier (though the three times I've been there it was 1234, suggesting it's not changed often). Free wi-fi, but a bit erratic in quality.
Lovely breakfast scone and coffee ☕ with great service ????
I love it! Great atmosphere and a good cuppa. It's very comfortable and not pretentious.
great diversity of teas and coffee worth a visit
Amazing tea lattes. They always have new ones
Always a great experience. I usually go with my blind grandmother and they are super accommodating. Every person that works there is friendly and it is a great place to sit down and enjoy your coffee or tea.
What great experiences my wife and I have had here! It's like a trip back in time as soon as we walked in the door. There's a large display filled with all kinds of in house baked goods and the coffee is delicious. The seating area is spread out in a way that provides the customers a choice in the atmosphere they would like to situate themselves. The staff are exceptionally outgoing and helpful. I will try and visit Murchies every time I go to Victoria
Always great food and lattes. We visit every time we are in Victoria.
Excelent place for sweet breakfast or relaxing tea time. Great pastries, coffee. All with fast and pleasant service.
Ordered large hot chocolate with whipped cream, I was given regular size. When I corrected the server about the order she simply pours the hot chocolate with whipped cream in large cup :( now it’s diluted and less warm and tops it up to serve back. Bad experience
This is the place for tea - their coffee is not bad either. Lovely desserts.
Good coffee and lots of places to sit but they have a timer on their free wifi
A nice place to go for the afternoon tea with your friend and your family as well! They also have a gift shop in their store as well!
A very nice place to go for a tea. Excellent selection of teas and pastries. Some sweet and some savory, all were delicious! Nice seating area. Also an outstanding store to buy your tea and coffee for home use! Great selection of loose, boxed and tea bags. Quite nice selection of gift ideas as well. I continue to support this local establishment, and even send tea to friends and family around the country!
I was pleased but not as thrilled as I expected to be. Nice baked goods and coffee.
A week ago at Murchie's, I've experienced a stale service from the employees. And not just me, but the customer with a mask on and in front of me was placing an order and the girl, being curt says, I can't hear you. The appropriate service behaviour should have been, sir/ma'am, I'm sorry but I can't hear you, could you please repeat that - or somewhere along those lines. But no, the girl was flat out rude and even to me as well. Not smiling (for those who didn't wear a mask) and no energy among the rest of the employees as well. I ordered a pre-made sandwich, microwaved and grilled, and it took 9 to 10 minutes for it to be complete. It should not take that long for such a process when it wasn't busy, literally, only the customer in front of me was waiting and 2 other people after me. It will be a while until I go back or even ever.
Wonderful range of tea to purchase and enjoy. Also very cheap! Definitely recommend it you are looking for a nice place to enjoy a spot of tea
Great desserts, Blueberry fruit tart and Salted Caramel cake. Neither were sickly sweet so the right amount of sugar and very tasty.
Great atmosphere, staff, lunch and tea! Reasonable prices. Perfect gift shop.
Great place to visit in Victoria. Murchie’s Medleys all day!
Long line-ups. My Victoria Fog had no flavor. To make a complaint about my tea would mean I would have to wait another 30min.
A good place to stop in for lunch. I love their saandwiches!!
Always love Murchie's tea and the sweets are to die for. Can't leave without some tea to take home.
First time there recently, the beverage's are amazing! The sandwiches looked better than they tasted. But this place had a nice tea-house vibe and is a nice Victoria Staple. (: However, one employee yelling at customer's aggressively to put their masks on (it was an older couple and they just had gotten up from their table, and going to clean up after themselves) I noticed the employee's action made the costumer's uncomfortable and embarrassed. Good on her for sticking to the guidelines, but it could have been handled in a much more polite way. Seems they have poor costumer service skills. A simple gesture to remind them of their face mask, or to politely remind them would have seemed much more professional, instead of yelling at them loudly and aggressively for the whole store to hear.
Crowded but great coffee and great deli and dessert bar. Must go in Victoria.
Very good place for tea, coffee and scrumptious tarts and other pastries plus sandwiches, soup of the day Cakes too.
A bit pricey but totally worth it! Great teas and pastries!
Tasty selection of deserts to go with one of their extensive selection of teas. I often visit the store section to pick up specialty teas as gifts for out of town family, which is always a great success.
Best sandwich and best almond croissant ever
So very tasty! Delightful selection of treats to nibble with your tea. Magnificent selection of teas! Worth the trip to Victoria!
Great food- good prices- great location. Comfortable.
They make an excellent non-dairy London Fog, they also have an amazing selection of pastries.
Easy to get to, large store with cafe. Plenty of products and tea options.
First rate teas and coffees. Sweets and sandwiches also available to enjoy in a relatively quiet and relaxed environment.
So much to choose from, always busy but for good reason, quick line because off awesome staff.
Great place to enjoy a cup of tea or lunch. Good selection of food and drinks. Helpful, smiling staff and a welcoming atmosphere.
Consistently excellent food and drinks. Pleasant atmosphere and service. I make a point to go for breakfast any time in in Victoria. The carrot cake is amazing!
Great Teasdale. Try the Russian Caravan for a strong black tea
Excellent coffee, tea, and baked goods. Hard to go wrong coming here, however it's always super busy so expect a lineup
What luck to stumble upon this famous Tea & Coffee house in beautiful downtown Victoria. We had quiche...pastries...cappuccino and fabulous tea. We bought souvenirs in their gorgeous store. So thankful for this wonderful experience with my adult son. This is a must see when in Victoria.
great service. great pastries and excellent tea.
Local hotspot. Don't do a formal tea but the food is to die for.
A wonderful London Fog, tasty macaroons and my granddaughter enjoyed her iced latte!
Incredible coffee, scones you could eat by the dozen, tasty desserts, nearby fun shopping
This place brings back memories of when I was a kid. Staff is pleasant and food is always good.
Always great here even during covid
Great place to get tea and coffee, I would highly suggest trying out some of the coffee. Quite often busy a nice stop for tourists
You’ve got to stop here for a silver tray of tea and scones if you’re downtown. It’s worth it!
It is great for the tea lover inside all of us and dessert lover too....
Lovely place to browse, shop and share a tea/coffee
Great coffee, great tea, awesome pastries and sandwiches! Awesome for a late breakfast and very quaint!
Friendly welcome, but a bit old style decor and pastries not really exciting
Wonderful ambience and amazing food. A Victoria staple
Great tasty food and drinks. I also love their tea store.
Nice place to sit and have tea after visiting Mynros book store
Very busy. Staff were overloaded with customers. The food displays were empty of treats.
Aside from the obvious tea and coffee offerings, Murchie's has a delicious array of desserts as well as a pretty great selection of sandwiches and snacks. There's always at least two daily features - today was a tuna melt and a bbq tortilla - both incredibly delicious. For the non-dairy folks, every milk substitute you can think of, they have.
Good place for scones with jam and clotted cream. Not the full English high tea experience, but close.
It offers decent selection of tea, and is a wonderful break from exploring the old town of Victoria
Great food and good prices, worth queing for.
"I don't have time for this right now", when ordering a full on birthday cake is not an appropriate answer by all means. First waiting in the normal line, then being told I don't have to wait in that line if I want to pre-order a cake. Upon waiting at the side to talk to another lady I was educated that I have to wait in line no matter what I want and when it came time to order I was informed of the previous. Rude and dismissive staff - very disappointed!
Stopping in at Murchie's is an absolute must if you're visiting Victoria. Outstanding food and beverages, high tea, and award-winning tea and coffee in bulk.
Their tea and Latte all good But when heat up the sandwiches, hope can clean the toaster after each sandwich , because the taste will pass to next sandwich and changed original sandwich flavors
Busy cafe in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Food was adequate, but not great. Line was always long. As you wait in line, they yell out the items that run out of stock. Unfortunately, they don't restock anything, so you lose out if you're not at the front of the line. Service is non-existent. They don't even bus or clean tables. It took 15 minutes for them to make a coffee drink. There are too many other options for us to return here again.
Excellent tea, nice place for lunch or dessert.
Great food and lots of tea choices. Loved it.
I have always loved this place. Great staff. The food and tea the best. The old world atmosphere that fits so well to the city. Thank you Murchie's.
Best tea place in town Great baked goods
Coffee so good that adding sugar and cream is almost a crime. . . and an apple caramel tart to die for
"Pastries and Deserts at Murchie's Tea & Coffee Are A Dream", this was what a local waitress nearby told us after dinner one evening. So, we gave Murchie's a try the next day and Murchie's is our go to place when in Victoria BC, Canada! Be sure to come early, be prepared for a line, and stay a while to enjoy all Murchie's has to offer. I've personally sent countless friends and business associates to Murchie's when they travel to Victoria from anywhere in the world. Murchie's will delight you with an excellent selection of pastries, cakes, sandwiches, soups, coffee and tea. Tge list is so long, can't even begin to name them all. Do yourself a favor, when in Victoria BC, Canada find Murchie's, go early during your visit so you have plenty of time for return visits. No one can visit only once! If you find my review and/or pictures helpful please give my review a like, thank you for reading!
Nice coffee / deli / tea spot. The line is usually backed up to the door, which is due in part to the good reputation and in part (frankly) due to slowish service. But most of us are looking to linger anyway. As far as price point, I'd say this is one of the better places in Victoria. Still not cheap, by any means, but certainly quite reasonable for the Victoria market.
Wonderful place for coffee tea and goodies .????❤
The best almond croissant I have ever had. Good scones. Line ups moved fast. Good seating with gift shop inside. Been open for over 100 years. Will return
Best fruit tart in the city. Staff is knowledgeable about their product and friendly too. I love going here for tea and a treated.
Very cool place. Price was reasonable, for the lunch combo. It was good quality and quantity. Was quite busy around 3PM.
One of the best lattes I have had. Prices are very reasonable. Next time I am in Victoria, I'm heading straight to Murchies.
Yhe tea is amazing, easy to get a table, the food looks good though i haven't tried it.
What a wonderful shop! So many awesome loose-leaf teas and great accessories. Super friendly staff.
For BC its a NYC style coffee joint , limited on food but a good vibe for all ages. Outdoor seating too.
This review is based on the experience at the Government Street location (over the course of 16 years). Murchie's tea is good, and their gifts are usually beautiful, which makes for a nice shopping experience around Christmas; however, this downtown location needs serious cleaning and renovation. The carpet is terrible and smelly, and mice are regular guests on the floor. The hygiene is a real issue, and where I come from, any location serving edible products would lose its licence if it attempted to operate like this. The pastry/desserts quality is low, by any decent standards, with the exception of 1 or 2 products. Customer service is not possible due to the high traffic volume; the girls are trying hard to keep up, but I cannot blame them- they're doing the best they can. I will continue to buy the tea, but the lack of hygiene is really depressing. The sweets are expensive and overrated.
Love Murchie's! The Chai Latte is the best anywhere!
Amazing desserts and tea lattes, with quick service for how many people were there. 10/10 would go again.
I love this place. Perfect pastries and tea. The sandwiches are exceptional too.
My favourite place in Victoria for tea and homemade scones!
Great desserts and coffee is pretty good.
Totally Awesome I definitely will return it's magical
Cheesecake was delicious. Lots of places to sit down.
Excellent products. Very friendly, helpful staff. Best in Victoria area.
Yummy and unique tea lattes. Didn't have a chance to try the food but it looked delicious!
Great sandwiches , wild west. Danishes and cheese cake too. Get our birthday cakes there. Latte hot and delicious.
Consistently good coffee, tea, pastries and Savories. My favorite go to when out and about in downtown Victoria.
Excelwnt selectiom of teas and so many yummy goodies
I watch the servers here deal with insane lines, fast paced businesses a mix of old and young, polite and awful customers. They are always kind and considerate, they remember my name, they take time out to be engaging and amazing. They deserve super credit and should always be treated with the utmost respect in return. Such a delightful little place. Well priced fast pick food and good coffee, and the staff is friendly and engaging.
Simply beautiful desert cafe. Excellent white chocolate and strawberry cake
Great locally-roasted coffee. The black currant scone is great for breakfast.
Trouble place for birthday cake. Counter service is awful.
Still great food and killer desserts.
Great cafe and seating and a huge tea selection. Their Georgia blend is one of my favorites. I also enjoy getting it shipped to the states because it's hard to get the same quality tea down here.
Love love love Murchie's and always visit when I am in Victoria. Murchie's has been my go-to for gifts and tea for many years. However, the seasonal Christmas fruit cake misses the mark. Far too much crumb (which is dry) and a marginal amount of slivered almonds mixed in with standard industrial candied peel. The stale marzipan layer is mm thin. If Murchie's were to re-vamp the cake (needs more brandy, a variety of nuts, quality fruit and fresh marzipan), I'd buy it again; but at this point, this cake is not up to the standards of the top notch pastries in the cafe side. Other than that, the products here are wonderful and the staff cheerful and efficient.
Awesome place. All desserts are so delicious
Absolutely best tea ever ! Great price and lots of variety
Awesome food and amazing coffee! Great tea selection.
Knowledgeable staff good food and all the tea accessories you could want
Delicious as it always has been. I used to love coming here with my mum as a kid. Now I love bringing my own kids for some tea and a treat. I swear they still have the same trays.
The place is nice and in particular has good drinks like tea and coffee. The food we got though was grilled sandwiches and sadly they were rather cold in the middle and soggy
No visit to Victoria is complete without pilgrimage to murchies. Folks in Portland need their supply.
Lovely tea and coffee shop. Great selection and friendly staff
Long line but good sandwiches and tea/coffee options. Some of the tea samples were quite delicious.
Portion is very big and the food is all tasty :)
The cheese scone is so good! And of course the excellent quality tea.
The Cappuccino Bar is great! The Americano's were awesome and I am sure the Tea is second to none...fabulous place...great job!!...Note: The Cappuccino bar is open at 7:30 A.M
Lovely little place ???? Sandwiches are delicious!
If you're in the downtown Victoria area for the day, this is a great place to sit and have a tea or coffee. A little trip back in time as you can have a fantastic dessert and tea or coffee if you can't afford tea at the Empress.
Good selection of teas. Tried the chicken croissant sandwich; 4/5 for it. 2/5 for the desert which was stale. The staff are quite helpful though. In terms of ambience, it's a bit noisy so no ideal if you want to just come here and read a book. It's better for meeting up with other people.
Good coffee and an amazing selection of pastries! The place was super busy, thats when you know it's good !
Absolutely adored this coffee shop when I was in town and spent some time there nearly every afternoon.Free wifi, plenty of seating, and really excellent drinks. I had the London fog, Victoria fog, and also this tea latte with chocolate and raspberry. All divine and highly recommended.By 3pm, they are already starting to sell out of things. So go early, especially during tourist season
A really good pot of tea, every time. Delicious sandwiches and a great array of desserts. It's a comfortable, welcoming place. Love it.
Creme brûlée and Christmas tea <3 while strolling around the shops and harbour
One of the largest cafes in Victoria, and likely one of the most popular. Their drink menu is impressive and they feature a large selection of amazing desserts. It's an ideal place for locals, international students, and tourists to meet; however, that often means that tables are a bit of a challenge to get, especially ones that have been cleared off. The vast gift shop, adjacent to the cafe (but still inside the building) has everything a person could want for a tea service and is definitely worth checking out.
Amazing customer service! We bought an 8 inches cake yesterday. Tried it at home and thought they gave us the wrong one. We back to the store ask for an exchange. Later we found out that they did not make a mistake. They still offer us a different cake and we loved it.
We call it Munchies and love this place. Always try to visit when we are in Victoria. Great selection of drinks, snacks and food, with nice seating areas. In a lovely part of town too. And if you don't have a mask, you have to go thru this door. :)))
Good but somewhat overated for best of tea(s). The teapot is hopeless. Taramasu from frozen(?), “simple refund” for item. Going downhill a little?
Great staff friendly service and great West coast sandwich. I think that is what I got tasty
I really liked the vibes of this cafe. I ordered cappuccino which tasted great, and had a really good time with my friends there. Definitely check it out!
The dude doesn't wash his hands and deals with food. I wouldn't eat here if you paid me. It's called food safe and not followed.
Stronger on atmosphere than quality. The teas are pretty good. The desserts are hit or miss.
I ordered 8 different 2 oz loose leaf packs to see which ones I liked for future orders. The order arrived 2 days after it was placed. My wife and I had visited the Victoria location and purchased several different teas a few months back. Strawberry, Pomagranit rubus and a Maple tea each one flavorful and equally good hot or cold. All in all a great company to do business with. One little detail when ordering they ask if a note is to be added I typed up something and to my surprise they sent the note hand written. A great personal touch that has been lost by many companies but not this one. Thank you
Amazing cakes and sandwiches! Friendly staff and good ambience around the shop!
Outstanding! This place is amazing. We got tea latte drinks here 3 times in 2 days. It was busy but very well staffed so the line moved quick. The first time we ordered we asked the cashier where we could find a local desert (Nanaimo bar). She gave us a few places to look. When we returned the following day she recognized us and remembered our quest. Service was amazing and tea was very delicious.
Has a great tea and coffee selection. Really good desserts and lunch options at a good price
Great place for a snack or dessert and coffee.
I'm a Victoria local and this is my favorite place to bring company; always great service and food/drinks. A great asset to our city
Amazing tea, snacks, everything. Such a lovely place. Worth the line during peak times.
Cafe: Exceptional London fog, and pastries Tea: haven't tried too many, but the maple tea is quite tasty Retail: scone mix, many tea strainers available. lots of little items good for gifting (birthday, Christmas, tourism)
Having a carrot, walnut muffin with a regular coffee, and the muffin is to die for . No pic because I ate it too fast, lol!
Came for a chai and was disappointed. The girl was very pleasant about remaking it, but it still was not spicy at all. Tasted like milk with cinnamon in it. Meaning the recipe just wasn't good. If you're looking for a good, flavorful chai latte, this is not the place. Good for just basic tea, and they have nice pastries.
Great tea with delicious Pastries.
Wonderful cakes and treats with a cup of special tea on a cold winter day. Perfect.
I have been coming to this store since I was a child, I still have some of the original tea tins that my grandmother gave me Many many years ago.
Beautiful little coffee shop, staff was efficiant and friendly, patio area is perfect, makes me feel like I'm back in europe.
In our short time here (1230-1330 on a Thurs), Murchies was constantly busy. Always a line is a good thing. The food was fresh, delicious, and I even liked the coffee when I don't do coffee (that's sayin somethin')
Wonderful in house service, and great tea selection. Highly recommend
Just like an old world tea shop. Lovely pastries so light and my favourite "Strawberry Tart" Staff were really nice too.
Great for afternoon coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Tons of treat selections. Popular among retirees, tourists and government workers.
Visiting Murchie's in Victoria with friends from the UK last week, I cannot express how disappointed I was with your Tea and Coffee shop. I had explained a little of the history of the store and what good products you have but the state of the your coffee/tea lounge left a lot to be desired. It was early Thursday afternoon, many of the tables had not been cleared, the leather (plastic) on several of the armchairs was split and the wrought iron chairs could certainly do with a coat of paint. The carpet was warn and not particularly clean. Living in Vancouver this is a place I like to take my friends but after this experience until I hear that a decorating project has been completed I will not be visiting your store.
Incredible!! Loved their seasonal tea lattes, especially the strawberry princess and the jasmine harmony. Their pastries were great too! The black currant scone was the most soft and moist scone I ever had, and also came with a decent amount of Devonshire cream and jam. Their oatmeal cookie wasn't much to write home about, but their other pastries were beautifully presented and looked so good! Would definitely go back!
Tried a tea latte for the first time. It was delicious! The cheese scone was yummy as well. Very reasonable prices on tea bags, loose tea, etc. If you're a tea fan, don't miss it!
The best place for tea and dessert. Very English. The staff are all very friendly. I would highly recommend this to anybody who is looking for a place for a cup of coffee, tea and some cake or snacks. They also sell tea and coffee from all over the world. I would highly recommend the Strawberry Shortcake tea blend.
The food and drinks are absolutely amazing! I've tried multiple things from here and none of then have disappointed me. A main reason why I choose this place over others at the moment is because of the wonderful service and attention to detail especially during this pandemic. This is the only place were I feel comfortable and safe sitting in the cafe to get some work done downtown.
A great place to go for lunch. It would be nice if they offered gluten free sandwich options but at least they do have gluten free desserts! Quick service too, considering how busy they always are.
Always love their tea and desserts
