Was looking forward to going here for several days. I did my homework and noted down their restricted timings. Noted that their kitchen closes at 2pm and they close for lunch at 3pm. I had already reviewed their menu online, so I even knew what I wanted to order.I barely got out of work. I got there at 1:50pm......10 minutes before the kitchen closes and I was turned away. Was told that the kitchen is closed. Was not even allowed to take away food. Clearly they don’t need my business. After a COVID lockdown one would think they would be pleased with more customers. #verydissapointed.

I had the Texas Philly & wow was it good. We also tried the hummus and that was exceptional. They had an assortment of different meals. My only complaint was that it was super cold in there. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant and the staff were friendly. Would highly recommend this place.

We found hair in my our food, unidentifiable black things in my brother's water. After we had to wait over a half hour for sandwich in a restaurant that had 1 other custmer. They refused to fix the problem simply removing the hair from the plate, and trying to pass it off as new food.

It's hit or miss, no in between. Would not recommend this place. Read some of the negative reviews. My wife and I also experienced the " kitchen is closed" with no explanation. I guess Artisan means, limited supply of food with no service.

I happened upon this place with a co-worker for a professional development lunch. It has deceptively more space than one would think, as there is an upstairs and a downstairs. The upstairs seems to have a more formal vibe, and the downstairs has a more casual vibe. This is an assumption, because I only went up and checked it out and saw that upstairs tables were made of wood with table cloths, and downstairs tables were a mix of metal and wood. They have daily brunch, lunch combos, and other seemingly tasty options. My coworker ordered a soup and salad, and I ordered the guacamole with tostadas and the ultimate plain grilled cheese sandwich. We thought all of the food was very tasty! Didn't think to take pictures, but I wish I had. My coworker also ordered chai tea, and she had options to choose soy milk whole milk or to have it sweetened or unsweetened. Service was good. The ladies were attentive and not overbearing. If this review was helpful, please "Like."

Very gentrified and mediocre food. I went there before and thought it was a cute lunch cafe, the gumbo was horribly thick and who puts pimento cheese in a sandwich? I also don’t find the building up to date because we were seated in a dark corner with a ripped curtain and the waitress warmed us a bout a leak. Very disappointed and almost offended

We’ve tried to eat here several times and have yet to do so because they are closed even though it’s during the hours that they have posted that they’re open. Today we arrived 30 minutes before closing time and were turned away because the kitchen was already shut down. Hard to believe. If the closing time is 2:00, don’t close your doors and kitchen at 1:30. Bad business and not customer friendly.

Huvar’s is an amazing place to have lunch, atmosphere is great! Servers are friendly and the food is out of the world! The spicy burger is very delicious! Don’t let the name fool you, the burger is very tasty and with the chopped jalapeño it’ll give you the spicy kick you look for without immediately regretting every bite. The price is reasonable especially with the amount of food you get. Being that this is the first time I’ve been in this restaurant, it met.. no, it exceeded my expectations! I will be back Huvar’s earned another customer. Great job to all the hard working crew!

I really enjoy coming here for lunch. They have a variety of interesting options and the workers are always super nice! It does get a little busy during lunch time, but that's to be expected, especially downtown. Just be careful where you sit or bring a jacket because it can get chilly! It was super cold, but very refreshing because it's so gross outside right now. The only complaint I have is that the workers don't seem to be very good at anticipating when to give a table their check. It's a somewhat stupid thing to complain about, but it's just a little irritating when you have to get back to work and are waiting around to be able to give them your money. I am not the type of person to grab a worker and ask for the check while they're in the middle of something because it feels rude. Aside from that, everything is great and I highly recommend checking them out!

After moving back to Victoria I was looking forward to eating at Huvar’s again! The staff seemed overwhelmed. I had to ask for a server to come to my table. The food took forever to come. When it did, the ‘kettle’ chips that were supposed to come with my sandwich were obviously Lay’s potato chips. The cheese in my ham and Swiss sandwich was processed American cheese. They also did not have bread pudding which was still on the menu and what I was most looking forward to eating. The waitress said the chef simply didn’t have time to make it. Super disappointed Huvar’s! Not sure what’s happened here but definitely not the restaurant I remember!

If I could post a zero I would but not an option. The process for what they serve you to start off are absolutely ridiculous! The prices are way different online than what you are charged for. The cooks did not wear gloves and were handling all sorts of stuff not just food. Spoke to the manager to top it all off and she basically said oh ok no apologies and didnt seem to care at all. DISGUSTED!

*UPDATE July 18, 2019: Pizza Nights are now Friday-Saturday 6pm-9pm. Since the end of 2018 I have attempted to patron pizza nights 4 times and on different days and each time I was turned away because they closed early each time for different reasons with the last time being the Chef went home ill. I'm not sure how or why the Sous Chef or Chef de Partie couldn't handle pizza night, but either way they closed. Thankfully, Jonathan is a really great guy and manager and made my 5th visit possible since they were finally open when I arrived. He made sure that dinner was enjoyable and as always, stellar service.* *UPDATE October 26, 2018: Pizza nights are a great addition to Huvar's! Every Thursday - Saturday 6pm-9pm are pizza and pasta nights. Wood fired pizzas and house made sauce; they have some of your expected pies with a weekend special pizza as well.* Great food! I would give Huvar's 5 stars if they would bring back dinner service (They came back with Pizza Nights). It sounds petty, but their dinner service was the best fine dining to be had in Victoria! The quail was amazing! Daily specials are creative, delicious, and priced well/competitively. Get there early to avoid the crowds seating both upstairs and downstairs available. Excellent choice for lunch meetings if you go upstairs. Catering is available for your parties and events. One of the best and more upscale and "with the times" restaurants in Victoria. Local favorite is Chicken Fried Steak every Thursday and Fish Tacos on Fridays!

Clean looking. Nice wait staff. The shrimp on the poor boy had a very heavy breading. The Philly cheese steak was very good. The cook or the waitress forgot the onion rings we ordered. We got them in a to go box after paying the bill. They looked like a fried bunch of onions for a topping on a green bean casserole.

I'm at Huvar's right now, I've been here for lunch before and also for their pizza nights and always recieved excellent service and food. Their breakfast is another story apparently. The breakfast choices are incredibly limited, which we only found out after waiting twenty minutes for a menu, then for another ten to be acknowledged and place drink orders. I'd understand if they were busy, but we are the ONLY people here and it's pretty clear why. I gave them three stars because of my other experiences here being good, but this is sub one star service today.

Gave this place another shot. Pretty good grub this time. Started off with the Key Lime Guac and chis and woooweee it was delicious!!! I had the club sandwich with sweet potato puffs. Everything was fresh. Although they could have been eaten by themselves, I dipped the puffs in ranch to give it that little extra and it did! We did have to wait a little bit for someone to initially come to our table. That was to be expected though due to it being super busy this day. Our waitress was very nice and thorough. Very good at her job.

The pizza is amazingly awesome, and the staff are super awesome. Very friendly, always smiling, and quick attentive service. We came in large groups, 20-30, and still got personal attention and great service. Our drinks stayed full, and everyone's food came out hot and on time. The brisket pizza is my favorite, and the dessert choices are great. The interior decorations are well done, preserving the history of the building but still modern and comfortable.

I've tried a ton of their pizzas to go but I finally got to dine in for the full experience and I have to say I was not disappointed. Stuart was attentive and was wonderful in helping select appetizers. My guest and I got their house salad with extra dressing and chicken and sangria as a drink. It was all absolutely amazing! The sangria was delicious and tasted amazing. The red sangria was my favorite between the two options available. We had mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and the cheese was melt in your mouth. Best mozzarella sticks I have ever had. The environment was wonderful as well. The manager at the time came to check on us and so did one of the cooks passing by. I have to give the full Huvar's experience a solid 10/10 and can't wait to visit again to try their breakfast!
