It was a very good restaurant that me and my kids went to. We came at happy hour and ordered the 4 different tacos and it was very yummy so we ordered 2 more, and it was so good that we ordered some taquitos's and they were delicious. Would definitely go there again! The service was also great and they had public washrooms.

I love Cafe Mexico, it reminds me of growing up in California, Oregon and Washington. Sure the food is Canadian Mexico and the atmosphere is colorful and Mexican. The restaurant finds a middle ground for everybody. If you want it spicy or hot (you complainers) what do you think the jars on the table are for? I highly recommend this restaurant for everybody. When I worked in tourism and people asked myself for the best Mexican Restaurant, I always recommended CAFE MEXICO!!

Maybe it's because I'm accustomed to the Mexican restaurants in the US, but Cafe Mexico seems to grab every penny it can from you. You want salsa? You're going to pay a couple bucks for it. You want more than one refill on your soft drink? Same thing. You want chips (commonly standard on the table with salsa in the US)? Even more out of your pocket. At the end of the day, you're going to pay alot, the food is average and the service leaves something to be desired.

Their menu has changed from Covid (so they can touch less food) Like thier enchiladas are no longer are available. But there chimichangas are! Not listed on the menu but available with 3$ extra charge. Same great food. Same great staff. Just taking precautions. I highly reccomend visiting during Halloween because they dress up ????️????????️.

Food just ok. Ceaser drink not worth buying. They don't use clamato juice. They use a locally made tomato cocktail juice which I'm sure is great in other drinks or on its own but not in a true Canadian vodka ceaser. They wouldn't allow a chair at the end of our table so 5 of us had to jam into a small booth they say is for 4 bit that was fit only for 2. Not a great experience. Our waitress was great. She gave good service. Not likely to eat there anytime soon.

Came here during happy hour, they have a great happy hour menu with food and drink selections, tacos are so flavourful, my favorite is the chicken one. Margarita is on the rock instead of the slushy kind, which is what I like as well. Sat outside overlooking the courtyard of market square. Truly enjoyed this place. Must try if you're in Victoria!

We took prawns tacos, barbacoa tacos, ta os mexicanos and a barbacoa burrito, and we were all so happy with our food and impressed by the diversity of flavors. I would recommend it 100% Also, awesome job for the waiters and waitresses, you guys are smiling all the time, it feels super nice!!!

was there yesterday and the waitress was an awful human being and probably not the brightest either. Came there super tired with a Jetlag in the evening and ordered a Sangria. I was there with my almost 30yo bf and his family. I'll turn 25 soon and had my passport with me, something I bought alcohol with in much stricter countries. I mean, Canada let me into the country with this passport. But can't get a sangria (something I can buy at home for 9 years now!) at cafe Mexico because the waitress doesn't know passports and says she can't bring me an alcoholic drink ???? She didn't even ask another waitress/bartender if they know, she just said no. That's how you treat guests from other countries, I guess. The food was ok, although it was not the best Mexican food you can think of. She then added her own tip to the bill at the end (18% I think).

If it was possible to give a negative star review that's what this place would get. I'm thankful that my family saw the rodents before we started to eat at Cafe Mexico. After talking with the owner he said that they have had a problem with rodents the whole 35 years that this restaurant has been in business. This used to be our families favorite place to eat. For years we would go here. Cafe Mexico you have lost our business and that of all the friends, family, and colleagues we will no long be referring to this restaurant.

Unfortunately the food was bad, their quesadillas tasted very strong of curry, and the manager, who was the one who placed us at the tables, had a super bad service, had a very bad attitude with people who visit with children and you could not even talk to each other. THE ONLY THING TO PRAISE WAS THE SERVICE OF THE WAITER ANDREA, SHE WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND VERY KIND.

Only giving it a star bc the service was good. Ordered queso dip, which tasted like black olives and the chips were burnt. Also ordered 3 street tacos and it cost 12.50 and was extremely oily. My husband's food was tiny, like corn tortillas filled with beef for $15. You have to pay for chips and salsa. 4.50. Being there was only 1 other couple there, I should have known to walk out.

Best margaritas......love their tacos! I would absolutely give them a higher rating.....but having a mouse run around for entertainment is a little concerning. Having said that, I'm sure that "Hector" the mouse, will be gone by the next time we visit. Service is really great and the bartender is awesome!

Fabulous restaurant! We live in Victoria now, but spent many years in New Mexico, so we are spicy food addicts. We ordered our food "very hot" and they delivered. The food was spicy, but very pleasing to the palate. The guacamole was outstanding after we added the chilli seeds. The chips are house-made and not greasy. Loved the margaritas. We ordered the street corn, the short-rib tamale and chimichanga. All were delicious. Can't wait to return.

Good food. Guacamole was fresh and tangy, refried beans were delicious. Beef chimichanga was tasty with beef short rib meat, fresh salsa more refried beans and more. I was really surprised how good this meal was. And a big meal. I could only eat half (definitely brought the other half home). Oh... And the Mexican rice was very good as well. All with a good cold Modelo beer. Excellent value for money. I'll be coming back here soon.

Ok so I will try not to ramble on but I've been to cafe mexico many times and after the fire things had changed. I had a couple/few meals there that were not what I was used to and then after that some of the favs were off the menu. I went for the last time a year or more ago on a 4 people date night and I realized that it wasn't going to be my go to place. I was sad about it. Last night my husband suggested we try again and thank god I did! Not 100% sure what happened but it was the best meal I had ever had there, and my 3 other date night people felt the same way. The chef even came out to check on things. It was somehow new and improved! A new chef in the last 15 months? Anyway please try it for the first time if u have never been or try again if u havent been for a while! Service was fantastic and food was amazing! Same thing I always get but so much better and richer. Great job!

A busy place. I know, they need to maximize the number of diners, but it was uncomfortable having the manager, keeping checking on us, to have us leave!!! Stripe steak quesadilla needs to be worked on as steak's a tough eat, really tough piece of steak.???? Our server was attentive and great.

Such a cute restaurant. From the minute you walk in the smells get your mouth watering. The waitress was friendly and we never felt like we were waiting for anything. My husband and I shared a few meals and everything was spiced just right. And the steak! In both the tortilla nachos and the alambres the steak was cooked to tender perfection. Our only disappointment was that we prefer sweeter cocktails and they had nothing that fit the bill. Our waitress recommended a few with no success.

I normally don’t like tequila, but this spot makes good drinks with tequila. I also like their food even though it’s some kind of fusion rather than authentically Mexican, but that’s a broad term these days anyway, so I’m just going to say that it tastes really good. Staff are friendly - it can get loud in there but it just takes a little more people than other spots, so that’s okay.

WOW!!! home run at this restaurant. BEST MEXICAN food in Victoria!! Tried the special by chef Josue which is called the "Al pastor" which is an mexican city pork topped with 2 types of salsa. I must say this is the best taco I have eaten in victoria. I usually dont eat pork cause I find it dry but this was amazing. PLEASE do not miss out on the amazing mexican restaurant with an amzing chef who mixes traditional with some fusion

Visited yesterday for lunch, first time back since the unfortunate fire incident. Had a reservation and the table was not made up or reserved until we arrived. Although the meal was fine, this place is lacking in Mexican ambience. Who goes into a Mexican Cantina and listens to rock music, what happened to the complimentary chips and salsa for the tables. Service was less than average, will be a long while before we grace this doorway again.

We went to visit for the Christmas holidays to Victoria and we stopped by this restaurant. I come from a Mexican heritage and my parents had owned Mexican restaurants; food is something I’ve been around my whole life - especially Mexican food and I can honestly say this food was so great! Tasted better than it looks ( and it looks amazing) the quality of the food was super and the chef was very kind ( he’s from Mexico City) so I’m not surprised. Very good over all, I might just go to Victoria again just to eat here.

The servers were great and the food was passable. HOWEVER- at 11:30 pm, we saw three mice out in the dining area, just a few feet from us. The poor server informed us this was the “unavoidable truth of being in one of the oldest buildings in the district.” They explained the issue occurs nightly and offered to reseat us further from the walls. Sorry, but I just cannot give anything higher than a 1 star review, regardless of the excellent service. If you’ve got mice in your dining area during operating hours, there’s absolutely no chance you don’t have a ton in your kitchen. That’s a massive food safety issue. Without mice, I probably would have given a 3 star review.

I am sure it is not 'authentic' Mexican cuisine, but the food is definitely above average for its price-range. The back patio is on a quiet inner courtyard (Market Square) and with some soft Mexican music playing in the background this place just really happened to suit my mood at the time. I was in the city for a sporting event, but above all just to relax and I ended up going here four times in the course of the week for a late lunch/early dinner. If I ever return to Victoria (VERY likely), I will definitely also go back here!

We went here last night for dinner. The food and drinks were amazing. The margaritas and Palomas aren't too sweet, so they are perfect! The salsa and guacamole I got with my burrito bowl was unique and so delicious that I brought the left over salsa home. Others at the table ordered the tacos and we will definitely be going back. Now that we visited Cafe Mexico, we definitely want to try the breakfast place, owned by the same establishment. I gave 4 stars due to the drink service was kind of slow. Which is to be expected due to reopening from covid, but they were so delicious you enjoy every sip.

SERVICE: Excellent service and friendly staff. FOOD: Food is excellent and they have authentic hot sauce for the spicy people like us. The chefs will do some requests too. The vegetarian options are limited so I asked for the veggie burrito to be a chimichanga as there is no vegetarian option for chimichangas. ACCESSABILITY: The entrance is a wide exterior door and the floor is level and street entrance. The tables are free standing, as are the chairs. The bathrooms are down a thin hallway that might present problems for maneuverability. The stalls in the bathroom have no gantry or assist rails. Had to downgrade a star for bathroom access.

We had an excellent waitress. I ordered a burrito and cpl of coronas chili renello(which was good) and my wife's order, there was a dietary issue and a miscommunication, I had a simple a solution and no complaints. Just a simple request to the chef, immediately the masked manager came marching over and belittled my wife and was quite rude in a condescending manner. I was quite surprised and held my tounge. Finished my drink and packed the sub par burrito and spaghetti sauce like salsa and left. Not without thanking the server for her efforts and a nice tip and then complained about her managers misbehavior who she repeatedly apologized for. We both told her it wasn't her fault and thanked her... I will NEVER be returning to this restaurant EVER and will not be recommending it

We reserved a table for NEW YEARS EVE, paid for the chef's table including drinks, but we did not receive the free gift as promised on their website... why not? They said (after we ate and paid for our dinner for two (over $200) that since we reserved our table on the same day (dec.31) we don't get a gift! It doesn't say that on their website... we paid as much as everyone else. NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!!!

Very impressive Mexican restaurant. Delicious cocktails, margaritas of course, and very tasty food. Thankfully the chef allowed me to try three tacos; beef, chicken and pork. All very tasty though an extra tortilla would have great to finish off the decent portions. Churros were fresh and cooked perfectly. Highly recommend for an authentic Mexican meal in Victoria.

Last time I reviewed Cafe Mexico I gave it 4 stars because the food was pretty oily. Went back again for a late night meal and glad to say that it now fully deserves 5 stars. Did the mezcal sampling which was very cool; three different samples with a baby beer and palate cleanser was a unique experience. Ordered one of each taco they make and just... wow. All tasted great with the vegetarian option winning hands down. Service was exemplary even with only two servers taking care of a full restaurant; our server gave us some history on mezcal production and how to best enjoy the sampler. Just fantastic.

They have a great happy hour, start there and you can easily spend an evening tasting fine mezcal and tequilas. Its actually an outstanding mezcal menu! For food, we tried the tacos and ceviche. Both were very good, and the real deal. It's hard to find authentic Mexican food - Cafe Mexico has it!

A friend called and asked us to join him at the new Cafe Mexico. We walked in to a nice lively room. The decor is bright and modern with a touch of the rustic. We ordered a margarita made with top quality tequila - outstanding - thank you! A great line up up of tequilas and mescal are being offered. From the food menu, we ordered some steak skewers and some ceviche of the day; you can tell some thought went in to the development of these menu items. We loved the old Cafe Mex but really appreciate the updated venue. All the best to the new crew!

I had the chicken chimichanga, the portion was quite large and I chose to have it with beans and rice. I was very happy with it. I tried the deep fried ice cream, what a disappointment, very little effort made here, no chocolate sauce or whip cream. I sent it back and they deducted the charge from my bill. Very satisfied with the main course. I also had some chips and guac, tasty, but not free anymore. Forget the salsa, I ordered it and did not have more than a scoop or 2, the guac was much better. This place was refinished after a fire about 2 years ago.

Best agave spirits offerings on the island hands down! They even have Sotol. I was able to sit at the bar and pick Jhol's brain on aging agave in different kinds of wood barrels, which was a real treat because he has an immense knowledge of agave spirits . Ari went above and beyond with unique custom cocktails for my friend and I. The whole team creating such a terrific experience that would bring me back and it did was unreal. Thanks! Well this is my first ever online “complaint” post but I’m so disappointed with Cafe Mexico I decided to share my musings. Partly nostalgia by me and my disappointment in change but also some really bad misfires and lack of attention to details. I’ve been three times now since the Reno’s and tonight will be my last. The first was for my birthday with about 10 family members (this was a usual spot for me and my sister to celebrate our bdays and have a family dinner every year) They told my mother on the phone they couldn’t do reservations on Friday nights. To just show up early and put your name down. My mom goes early and there’s over a 45min wait but we all show up and patiently wait for a table and low and behold we notice there’s a table of at least 12 reserved for other another party. By the end of the night the manager admits his staff were wrong and a reso was allowed but by that point it’s all too late. They’ve gotten rid of their frozen lime Margaritas, no cholula hot sauce on the table and they’ve changed the menu but thankfully still have a section of their classic dishes. Ok I can deal with that! Second visit all is well. I’ve pulled a Beyoncé and prepared for my visit with packing my own cholula in my purse. They still have old items that are tried and true and delicious. Chips and salsa a must have! My chicken tinga burrito is great. Unfortunately after eating 3/4 of my burrito I bite down on a large chunk of plastic of what I believe was perhaps from cheese wrapping (similar consistency). I mentioned it to the waitress who apologized and offered a new meal. That’s a nice gesture but after 3/4 done I don’t have room for another meal and honestly my desire for a burrito is gone. No discount no compensation offered. Still we give it a third try. I wish I hadn’t. Spent $75 on honestly the most disappointing meal. Chips were not fresh. Not hot. Not the same delicious crispy ones I have loved for all these years. They were thin and stale and tasted like store bought. The guacamole was flavourless. They’d removed my favourite item (chicken Tinga quesadilla) so I opted for another tried and true taquitos. They were covered in cabbage and sauces. Not what I had hoped for. I can appreciate new menu items and specials. The redone decor is clean and modern. The vibe is different yes, but I can live with that. After all I’m going to a restaurant for the food. The only thing that’s remained as good as it’s been all these years is the salsa. That’s it. New menu with The few remaining tried and true items being revamped and awful. I won’t be back and am sorely disappointed they felt the need to change everything. I always remember it being busy and quite often packed. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it? So I guess I say farewell to a favourite restaurant. Adios Original Cafe Mexico you’ll be missed.

I come from Mexico, and when I arrived to Victoria, me and my family wanted to find what was the place that served the most similar food to the one served back home, and I can proudly say, they don't serve similar food... they serve authentic Mexican cuisine. I was able to eat "tacos de cochinita", which amazed me first when I saw it in the menu, and amazed me again when I tried it and was exactly as in Mexico. No weird mixes like hard shell tacos and that kind of Taco Bell taco wannabe (although, if you are interested in that kind of food, they also serve something similar). But regarding Traditional Mexican Cuisine, they get a 10/10. It's great to find traditional food from other countries here in Victoria. Variety is endless here! Staff such as waitresses, bartenders, and even the chef that I had the pleasure to meet, have the best attitude, and they are great attention and service wise, but are also really friendly. I really can't say anything negative about this place because there isn't. I've been there many times (and I am looking to go again!), and every time I order something new, I get amazed on the things they have here that are back in my town! Check the picture! I totally recommend it!

Tough to find anything to complain about. Great spot with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Superb food in terms of the plating and cook/prep quality. Efficient use of the kitchen to support two restaurants next to each other. Recommended by an employee, Katrina, that also works at DavidsTea up the street and served by Alycia who I would hire for anything based on her personality and hospitality. What a wonderful person! The only suggestions would be that the managers/owners were talking shop next to us at the bar for an hour while they folded menus. Some neat shirts for staff and to sell would also be a bonus. Great stuff overall.

After reopening from fire damage, the face lift for this restaurant is substantial. It seems to have taken itself from a family-friendly aware-of-its-gaudiness establishment to somewhere that boasts a more glam or polished appeal. That being said, I can say that with absolute certainty that the restaurant that it was before had food I enjoyed more, with more selection. Despite narrowing down its menu and adding some new flavours, the old Cafe Mexico was my go-to for a huge variety of margaritas and cervezas, and for a huge variety of fillings and options for its foods. When I came back to try it after reopening, my favourite item, the chimichanga, has completely changed and was reduced down to a couple options instead of the four or so different varieties. My nostalgia and affection for the old restaurant is heavily eclipsing the new one, so although the food is good, in my mind it doesn’t measure up to what it was before. Definitely still a good Mexican restaurant if you’re in the area.

Not close to authentic. It takes more than corn tortillas, rice, and beans to make good Mexican or TexMex for that matter. Learn to add some spices to your dishes. No flavor. Get a double if you order a marguerite. Their single was about the smallest I have ever seen. Maybe half a jigger of tequila if that.... sigghhh. Very disappointing.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Victoria. While the menu isn't huge there is still lots of selection. I had enchiladas, which were very flavorful . The refried beans are great. I have also had the steak alambres which are delicious. And the margherita's are also really good (both classic and slushy). Update to 5...the tacos, especially rajas and barbacoa, are amazing!

I definitely recommend an evening at Cafe Mexico! I first went there in the 90’s when I was at UVic; the menu has changed with the times, but the flavours did not disappoint. We made it for the last 30 mins of Happy hour, which was awesome - the Mexicanos taco was a treat and the chips and salsa delish. Dinner was equally excellent, we enjoyed the Chile rellenos. The patio on the Market Square side was great for people watching and conversation. The service was SO FAST! That kitchen was working hard - the server was perfect. Thanks for a great 17th anniversary dinner.

Their tortillas are corn (Gluten-Free), although they do have a couple of items that are made with a flour tortilla. Definitely a keeper. (I have only had one margarita that was better and that was in Nagoya, 1999 - Graeme Smith of Australia - mixologist)

I don't like writing negative reviews, but feel I have to say something. I used to love this place and recommended it to all my friends. However, the last time I was there with my family we saw a rat scurrying around. When we mentioned it to staff they shrugged and rolled their eyes. After scrolling through other comments, it appears this has been an ongoing problem for several months, with the management doing little to prevent it. Rodents pose a significant health threat. Hopefully something is done before someone gets sick.

First off, mandatory masks. They are recommended and should not be forced upon customers. The service was awful, the menus confusing and the drinks ridiculously overpriced (18+$ for 2oz cocktails) We came in about 15 minutes before “late night” and were rushed to get our order in before the 10pm cutoff… waitresses telling us “you have three minutes left before we take away the menu” ….what…? We finally ordered some tacos, they were good but they were incredibly small! About 3” across with a tiny pile of filling in the centre. The price however wasn’t small, 18$!!!! Upon receiving the bill we seemed to be an annoyance to the waitress, throwing our ticket on the table and walking away without a single word. 60$ later we walked out still hungry and stopped at a taco stand to get our fill.. We walked out without our masks and one of the waitresses went full Karen on us screaming across the restaurant “thank you for wearing your mask” We kept our distance, what’s the problem? All time worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had… don’t come here.

Always delicious!! I have spent many birthday’s and special occasions, as well as casual hangs with friends here and hope to have many more. Recently my partner and I had our one year anniversary celebration at Cafe Mexico and had an unforgettably hour time. The staff were kind, responsible and real when a patron was being hostile. They reacted and held their composure during the difficult situation really well and our anniversary was wonderful thanks to the great food, environment, drinks and staff!!! I’m sad they don’t have deep fried ice cream any more (it’s a rare and induces life long cravings) however the churros are a delicious replacement! There need to be more Cafe Mexico’s in the world!

Visiting the island and was so excited to find a nice little Mexican place to eat at. Had a nice view right into the kitchen and I sure am glad that we only ordered drinks and a dessert. (Which were amazing) Watched the busboy grab handfuls of chips and put his entire arm into the container of guacamole, lick his fingers and continue with the next chip. Sadly I don't think we will be back. That was repulsive to watch.

I miss the old Cafe Mexico, the one before the fire. There was something less formal about the old one, more the way I expect the the Mexican food restaurant experience should be. On my recent visit the food was good and the service was great, but the place and presentation just had a sanitized feel to it.

The food quality was most excellent. I was shocked however that there was no discount for taking out. 2 burrito's take out Waited for the food and had 1 Pacifico beer 1 Tall can of Cider 60 bucks.... Wow 70 with tip I want to go back but it's pricey. My friend had his wedding reception here in 2009. It was fabulous then. Food has never been a disappointment.

I wish I could give a review of the food, but we were denied entry because the owner decided to keep masks mandatory in their establishment and we didn't have one to wear for the 10 steps over to our table where we would then be allowed to take it off again. ????‍♀️ Ridiculous.

So the food is good, not great but legit Mexican. We've been there a few times but the other night we had a mouse crawl up the brick wall right next to our table. I told the server and her response was "oh are you okay"? Seriously? One would think that having mice crawling on walls in a restaurant would merit a slightly more concerned response. Will be looking for an alternative Mexican restaurant in Victoria going forward.

By far the best Mexican in town. Their tequila list is extensive, their margaritas are shaken and delicious, and the portions are massive. Seriously, the ceviche which is made with albacore tuna was huge! Well worth the $$. The atmosphere and decor inside has been recently redone (since a fire in 2015) and they did a fantastic job!

Possibly the best restaurant experience of my life! I went into Cafe Mexico with my girlfriend. the newly-renovated restaurant ambience was great anyways; my girlfriend ordered the “Barbacoa” and I ordered the “Panceta de Credo” the Barbacoa was really good, but the Panceta de Credo was honestly inedible. I decided to send the Tacos back and the waitress was very accommodating, I told her we would just share Barbacoa and fill-up on desserts. The waitress Brough the dish back to the kitchen, then she came back and told me that there is a new chef and he offered to make me his take on Barbacoa that would soon be on the menu. I agreed to this and the chef hand delivered me his take on pork belly tacos. THEY WERE THE BEST TACOS OF MY LIFE, they were honestly so delicious. After diner the dessert was also to die for, and the restaurant didn’t even charge me for the tacos. All and all this restaurant really went above in beyond in service and the new chefs food was too die for. I would strongly recommend going here before the chef leaves this restaurant to become the next Gordon Ramsay. 10/10 service 10/10 food 10/ ambience 10/10 company (only thanks too my girlfriend)

There is a cheerful buzz in this place, especially on weekends. A great location and charming ambience. One of the few places in Victoria that's open late in the evening. They have a happy hour starting at 10 pm in the summer! Fresh and unusual ingredients make up an interesting menu. Value priced appetizers at happy hour twice in a day! What more can one ask for!

I was a long time customer since the 1990's, after my recent visit and seeing a rodent walking around, eating scraps (under the table), I will not be coming back. I have spoken to the management and the owner. I get the usual excuses, "It's an older building, they have had rodents for a long time, the downtown core has a rodent issue...." The assistant manger girl even tried to say that the last health inspection was a five star review. I reminded her it wasn't. I reminded her that there was a critical violation, i am enclosing a copy of it in the review. The other thing the assistant manager girl was wrong about is she claimed it was a "glowing five star review." VIHA does not use stars to rate a place, like google reviews. I think the assistant manager might find it more helpful to read the VIHA report before commenting and coming up with things that do not exist. As far as the loss of business this place now has with me, I would estimate the loss of cash flow from me not coming in anymore is about $2,500 a year. How many other customers have they lost? When an owner of a business makes excuses and admits they have had a rodent problem for 35 years, how do you reason with them? I suggested a new location and it didn't go over well. This used to be my go to place for Mexican Food, now I have to find a new place to spend my money.

Super cool vibe, exceptional service and the food was sensational. We stopped for a quick bite to go, but decided to eat in when we saw how cool the restaurant looked (also beer). We started with chips and guac, and I ordered the cod tacos (two tacos, no rice or beans or anything), and I was thinking it would take the edge off until we got home. Turns out two tacos was plenty, and I've been known to pack back fairly sizeable meals when I'm hungry. The tacos we're unlike any fish tacos I've had in Mexico, but wow. Packed with goodies (shredded cabbage, shredded chips and a whack of other stuff), and absolutely delicious. Oh, and the guac had half a grilled jalapeno on top - not sure if it was meant to be mixed in or what, but I ate it as it.was and I'm drooling now just thinking about it. Do yourself a favour, and just go try it!

Highly disappointed in this restaurant. Not only did the server (girl with glasses) raise her voice at my group but she made fun of us with other servers directly in our face. Basically bullying us so we would leave. For no good reason except she was angry that we had two people join our reservation for a quick drink and she had to get them a chair and that “wasn’t the plan”. The male manager with red hair was awful as well. We felt they were being prejudice towards us :( Whoever owns this restaurant needs to know how unacceptable their behavior was. It’s taken me a couple months to calm down and write a review. To be clear.... Our entire group was NOT angry because the staff refused service due to too many people. We were angry about how we were treated by the server and manager right off the bat before any explanation why they couldn't accomidate us.

First time coming in since the remodel, and im a little disappointed. Most of the food seemed to be Tapas or apply related, and the entres have shrunk in size considerably. This wouldn't have been so bad had there been complimentary chips and salsa like at nearly every other Mexican restaurant I've been to. Our server was quite slow, we were in the restaurant for over two hours.

We went to Cafe Mexico on New Year's Eve and really enjoyed the special preset menu. The menu itself was made up of items we probably would not have ordered on our own - and we loved it! We were so thankful to try some new amazing dishes, it made for a special night. Everything was delicious, the NYE menu included prosecco but as I do not drink the staff were kind enough to make me a delicious mocktail. The service was good and they even sent us home with little gifts. We will be back!

Perfect place to eat a nice Mexican plate. The plus is a could changed my son in the mixed washroom without any issue. Unfortunately they was running out of chocolate sauce for our Churros but the stuff is welcoming and there to help you for anything. We did enjoy that moment definitely recommend it.

I had the opportunity to try the newly re-opened Cafe Mexico this past weekend. We waited a while for a table to open up but it was well worth it! Food was even better than I remember. I stuck to a 'vintage cafe mexico' entree but there are a number of new menu items that look very good. I am very much looking forward to trying them. Our server was very nice and accommodating, as was the host who managed to get our large group a table on a very busy night. I will be returning very soon!!
