Tried this new restaurant this evening with my partner and have to say we were super impressed with the quality of the food and service. We ordered samosa for an appetizer and I have to say they were the best samosas I have had in a very long time. Try them you won't be disappointed. For entrees I ordered lamb curry with rice which was excellent, great flavors and perfect spiciness. My partner ordered mixed vegetable curry with naan and was very pleased with her meal as well. We eat a lot of Indian food when we dine out and this will be our go to indian restaurant from now on. The only reason I never gave 5 stars is because of the choice of music, they were playing Christian radio which I do not like, would much rather listen to indian music. Highly recommend the food and as i said we will definitely be back again.... keep up the great food

I think we have to take into consideration that this restaurant is new and it will always come with its pros and cons. When I got to the restaurant there was only 1 server working but he was always running around and taking care of everyone in the restaurant. he was very friendly and considerate and did not appear stressed which I give him props. The food was amazing. I ordered the butter chicken curry and I had enough for left overs the next day. great service, friendly staff, large portions, decently priced and I would go back :)

Never do online website order from their personal website. They are taking hours to deliver the food without any notifications and there is no tracking in their website. I had the worst customer experience: I asked the person why it took so long then he said "WHAT SHOULD I DO"? Like really? This is the worst customer experience I ever had. This was the worst food I've eaten in my life .Last night I ordered the food from Indian Bistro which wasn't good i have to throw out this even though i was hungry ... I ordered the Riata nd they gave one spoon Yoghurt mix in water of Coriander nd it was too watery .I will never ever recommend anyone this place . First and last time ! Thankyou ????

The three things you order when you are a Foody are Biryani, Biryani and Biryani. Yes, we have tried chicken Biryani , paneer 65 Biryani and pachimirchi paneer Biryani. Chicken Biryani had no masala in it, they just served bland chicken pieces on top of plain basmati rice. I am very disappointed. However other two paneer biryanis were decent.

Worst customer service. The rice in the biryani I ordered is disgusting and when I called about it their response was rude and despite me spending so much money their reply was that it gets overcooked sometimes. So that means I have to pay for overcooked stuff. I waited 1 hour 20 mins for this “ Over cooked food” . I will never look at that restaurant again.

I ordered #DalMakhani and #Naan. #DalMakhani was nasty, tasteless and inedible. It seems that the restaurant does not know the recipe at all. I mean, I have never ever eaten a #DalMakhani made of green gram whole a.k.a moong sabut. On top of this, milk like liquid was just added since it was watery. I think any amateur can prepare #DalMakhani far far better than this by going through the #wikipage. It was total disaster and waste of money. I am still wondering whether it was #DalMakhani or #SabutMoongWithWateryMilk. If there was an option for full refund, I would have opted for it.

I ordered Gobi Manchurian and chicken fried rice (spicy) all i got was black pepper thrown into it. Gobi Manchurian was sour in taste and had tooo much of vinegar plus black pepper to it. Any one who understands Indian Food will know that its not only about black pepper. this time we were not impressed.

Thunder Bay was lacking decent Indian food and Indian Bistro has definitely changed that. Phenomenal food served by some very passionate owners. The biryani was on point. So was the poori. Went back again after the first visit and wasn’t disappointed. Might turn into the go to place for Indian food for my gang and I.

One of the good Indian restaurant in Thunder Bay. The interior seems to be like a typical Indian restaurant. Most of the Indian foods are available. Exceptional (South) Indian restaurant! Not only is this the best Indian restaurant in Thunder Bay but some of the best South Indian, North Indian and pan-Indian dishes in Canada! They’re located at the same location that used to house the defunct Sushi place. Food is exceptional, service is warm & friendly and hours are great! Btw, they also have a monthly catering and meal plan for students and professionals. Very highly recommended!!

The food was okay but if you care about the virus what so ever do NOT go here! The only one in a mask was the waitress! The guy in the kitchen had no mask on at all. Whenever I felt homesick or lazy, my go to food to order used to be Chicken 65 biryani. One reason was because the chicken piece tasted well and the quantity of chicken piece was perfect. Lately they have just started to add more rice and very less piece of chicken. Literally so less that out of disappointment I thought of posting a feedback here. The rice is not like how a biryani needs to be. This might be your speciality for Canadians who would never understand how the real biryani tastes like but you guys are presenting an authentic indian dish, so please provide the right quality service like the way you started of earlier. I hope in my next order I see that I get a value worth food for what I pay!

Had chicken 65 to start and it was excellent. Main dish lamb curry also very good it's medium spicy which is about as spicy as I can handle. It was fairly quite Thursday evening so the service great and food came out fast. If you want something tasty and quick highly recommend.

Amazing food! I cannot comment on dining inside the restaurant since we've only ordered through Skip, but I have yet to be disappointed with any of my orders. I have tried many local Indian restaurants and the flavours that this one offers is unlike any I've tried in Thunder Bay. The first time I ordered, it was so unbelievably tasty I actually laughed out loud like a nut job. The dishes they offer are rich, have complex flavours and definitely on the spicy side but nothing a glass of milk or yogurt couldn't help with. I'm so glad we gave this place a try, I find myself craving it every week. You guys are doing a great job

My boyfriend and I just got home from Indian Bistro and we're already making a plan as to when we can go back (and who we can bring!). Thunder Bay, you just got better and you owe that to Indian Bistro! We are thrilled there is a restaurant with such amazing, tasteful, and fresh Indian food. This restaurant gets 5 stars because: 1- The food is unreal with incredible flavour! 2- The food is traditional south Indian food, not something you get from a box.. the owner even gets his spices from India! That just shows how important traditional taste means to him. 3- Our server told us he was still learning the menu, but he could have fooled us, he was such a wonderful server! He went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. And when we got our food, he made sure we had everything we needed (and more!). 4- We spoke with the owner and told him just how wonderful the food was, you could tell he was passionate about his restaurant and about making great food. This restaurant is now our new favorite place. I highly recommend everyone to try this place!

I wish I could give zero stars.I used to be a regular at this restaurant (online) but, found that they have the worst customer service I have ever come across. Ordered Chicken Biryani which was supposed to be extra spicy but turned out to be extra salty and rice sticking together forming lumps. Called the store about it since i ordered in their own app for pickup. Manager (owner) promised that he would give me a call back after discussing with the kitchen staff; i think he is still discussing about it even after 2 days. Disclaimer: The actual Meaning for this is not spice level but salty level tho Mild - Mild Salt Medium - Medium Salt Spicy - More Salt Extra Spicy - Extra Salt

Thunder bay is lucky to have a place like that! I am a real south Indian food lover. Everything was excellent. I could see the staff was trying their best to accommodate huge and unexpected rush on weekends. The only reason i am missing a one star is the dosa quality! I really had high expectations. But it turned out that it was already pre-made and was not as crispy as fresh dosa would have been! I hope next time if I am there, I would get fresh dosa for sure! Its my fav. place from now on in Thunder Bay!

We mostly had South Indian dishes and they were great. The fish pulusu (comes with white rice) was excellent Andhra style dish I would go back to have again. A bit on the hot side, but the curry wouldn't taste good otherwise maybe because of the sour nature of pulusu dishes, I guess. The Butter naan was soft and good. The biryani was above average with great texture on the meat, but was a little low on salt and didn't have much masala. But, on the whole a decent dish.

Done few take outs. At every instance, the quality of food goes down along with the quantity of food. But the price goes up. So called lamb curry has hardy any meat in it. Naan at extra cost is burn and terrible. Went back and showed them the food they gave me. They didn’t much care. Either they have enough business or don’t care about the customer, According to them, they are the only restaurant in town use fresh ingredients and everyone else uses frozen stuff. I’ll not be going there ever again. Like most of these businesses, they want to make money over night. Good luck to them.

Last night I ordered and got food which was unhealthy (1/4th part of the bowl was the oil), beyond tolerable spice level ( When spice level was medium mentioned in instructions), when called to restaurant regarding this, "WE ARE SORRY" that's all they have to say.

The service is late. In terms of quality of food, we were served with semi raw Naan breads. The curries lack the Indian home Taste but shouldn’t complain about it as you are far away from India. Advice would be to not enter the restaurant at odd times of the day as the food is delayed and you will be stuck at the restaurant for hours and your hunger would subside.

Nice large seating space with delicious food options. We went there after a very long day on the road and super hungry. By the time we reached the kitchen had stopped taking orders. But the owner was kind after knowing our condition and let us take out some yummy dosas. It’s a family run business, so the extra care and dedication shows.

The mini samosas were good. I feel terrible giving a bad review since our server tripped coming up the stairs and hurt herself near the end of our visit but the food wasn't good. The mango lassies were warm, the butter paneer was chunky, the chana masala was so salty it was inedible, the raita was runny...and that's just what I can recall off the top of my head. Also, there were six of us and the dishes trickled out one at a time over the course of about 90 minutes. None of us will be going back.

The food was okay and fairly tasty, but be careful with the spice level - the medium here means extremely hot by western standards. I'm lucky that I didn't order hot, otherwise I wouldn't survive it. The place was kind of cozy inside, but some improvements are needed in the terms of cleanliness, i.e. the windows could be washed for a start, and when the water is offered in plastic bottles - well this is not what you expect eating in a restaurant.

Lived many years in Toronto with tons on Indian restaurants…hands down this is the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. From the biryani to the tandoori chicken, you won’t be disappointed. It’s also not overly salty and the portions are very generous. The only place I buy Indian food in Thunder Bay.

The samosas are the best in Thunder Bay, they are so incredibly good! The chutney that comes with them is also absolutely incredible. The staff are so sweet too, and after coming a couple times they would recognize us and it just made the dining experience really homey.

Very bad attitude with customer. I recommend 5 minutes down the road Deccan Spice on Cumberland drive is the best. This is not a paid thing.. we really felt it.. Your clarification doesn’t make any sense.. Your staff advised to show digital copy of the documents and we all had that available on our phones.. we had been using these digital versions every where it’s required. The other restaurant also validated all required documents.

The management is really poor and I’m never going back to this restaurant. Like never ever. I have been calling them for a week about the meal plan and they always put me on hold. This place has it all. The food is delicious, with fresh, vibrant flavours and authentic southern Indian cuisine. They have a very busy take-out and delivery service, but eating in their dining room is a pleasure as well. The restaurant is spacious and decorated with clean lines and muted colours, creating a lovely, relaxing environment. The service is excellent -- far better than I might have expected on such a busy evening. Finally, the prices are very reasonable. I am thrilled that this wonderful restaurant has opened in Thunder Bay!

I had a visit to this restaurant last night. Lots of offers and lots of crowd. There were good efforts made to deliver quality food and service. I have to appreciate them for their patience and kindness cause I was new to this cuisine and had bad experience last week trying out some nonsense restaurant down the street, of the same Indian cuisine. Me and my family had a great experience. All Foods were freshly cooked and delicious.

Food portion ( biriyani) was child size and took them 45 mins to deliver the food when ordered with DoorDash, restaurant delivers on their own. Sambar was insipid and water like. When chutney lacked salt they compensated it with over salted vada. Do not recommend.

Went for dinner and have ordered multiple times through the restaurant. Their south indian dishes are better than north indian. Though, a bunch of times they have food they serve is bland. Wish they would carry forward the authentic Indian taste! However, some one the dishes are not even close to what they should be like manchurian (it was cabbage coated in a sauce), wish they improvise in taste and spices used! Though i keep going back and ordering over and again because their food atleast tastes little better than others around!

Best Butter naan I've ever had. Butter chicken had huge chunks of the most tender fall apart in your mouth chicken. The Indian butter sauce was thick and rich. Comes with free side of rice which is nice. (Naan extra)... The whole meal was a glorious delight

This restaurant is amazing. We have been on the meal plan receiving 2 curries, 6 nights a week for 4 months. We eat breathe and live this food. The variety and quality of ingredients of the meals is excellent. I would recommend the food to anyone.

Chicken dum biriyani - the biriyani was really tasty, not the best though, and a very decent portion size. The raita served along was fresh and the vegetables were crisp. The butter nan was really tasty, very flaky on the outside with a soft interior and really fresh. Then comes the dish thats the reason for the 5* The fish pulusu, fresh sea bass cooked in the rich, flavourful gravy. Best fish dish(Indian style) I have had from Canada. It was served with a portion of fluffy non sticky basmati rice. I would recommend this place for Indian food lovers. For those who love fish pulusu please try their fish pulusu...

I don't usually leave reviews but the food from this restaurant compelled me to write this one. I wish google introduces a zero star rating which would be apt for this so called bistro. The curry chicken tasted stale and naans were mostly crisp and were dripping grease. Felt pukish after having the food. Run away from this one by all means.

Always friendly and very fast, these guys make the absolute best food in town , highly recommend the Chicken 65, its my favorite food in the world. We order here lots and the most we ever waited was 40 minutes on a busy weekend, we usually have our order in 20 or 25 minutes. A small place that much deserves a bigger audience. Worst Indian restaurant I have ever visited and world's unprofessional chef works here. I ordered noodles online, and the guy taking order was very rude and told to wait 50 mints but after 1hour when I took my order, after a while I saw there were no spices and the boiling water was still there. Yucky noodles ever tasted. Food does not deserve even one star. As we were on a road tour from Brampton to Edmonton we searched Indian restaurant during our stay but they disappointed us and charged alot for just noodles.

We just visited Thunder Bay and thought we'd pick up idli for our kid and placed an order UNFORTUNATELY at this restaurant. After reaching the unit we've realized that the idli WAS NOT WARM and it felt hard as a STONE. SHAME on the cooks for serving us such kind of food. I strongly believe they are in the WRONG PROFESSION. Masonry is the right profession for them and they should seriously pursue that with their idlis. The management should rename this so called restaurant to "BOGUS Indian Bistro"

Great restaurant if you choose to get food poisoned and would like to have frequent trips to the washroom. They serve frozen food with a lot of care and they ensure that it acts as a laxative. I'd say anyone can cook better food watching YouTube than what gets served here.

Terrible food served by fraudsters. This restaurant should be reported to the food safety officials and should be shut down by all means. The owners are incompetent, who I believe would order their food from other restaurants because they don't risk having food from their own. What a bunch of losers. Please note: People with no accountability are always in a denial mode like the owners of this restaurant. I was the one who spent my money in return for terrible food and on top of that I get a response from the owners saying I've never ordered. Question to the owners: Am I sitting around here to waste my time writing a review for your restaurant unless I've had a bad experience? You're surely out of you mind to think so, which also reflects in the food you serve. Also, you might be an 'A' in the opposite universe, but in this one you are an 'F'. Once in a lifetime experience - that's coming from a local! Because I will never be back. Ordered and waited an hour and a half. They kept saying "2 more minutes" - people came after us and were told "5 more minutes" and were given food before us! Told multiple times "we are just wrapping it up". I honestly do not mind waiting if I am being told the truth, but the dishonesty was exemplary of poor customer service. Others in the restaurant were also complaining about wait times. I wish them improvement and success, but at their current state I'm not convinced succeeding is their goal.
