Caroline and I stopped in at the food trailer this afternoon at Ceretti’s Irving where the boys had setup for the summer. We ordered a rack of ribs, the beef brisket along with two sides, the potato salad and the smoked beans.
First off Caroline and I agree that the brisket stole the show. It had what looked like a heavy crust, but it all melted in your mouth and we left nothing behind. Fantastic! It’s been too long without a good smoked brisket like this. I used to ride to Bethel Maine for BBQ, but it’s nice to know that Blowing Smoke offers the same quality and taste here on the island. Incredible flavour, truly worth the five stars. These had no sauce on them, just as I like it, and I honestly can’t think of how a sauce could improve that brisket.
The ribs were dry rubbed, and you could really taste the apple component. Lovely but not quite “fall off the bone”. Very good nevertheless. Four stars for sure.
The potato salad is mashed and made with chopped egg as well as a bit of apple. That was a surprising flavour for a salad, but very nicely complemented the ribs and beef with its unique apple taste.
The beans… Caroline and I agree that they were wonderful, and when we go back to Blowing Smoke BBQ we are going to be sure to order a double helping of the beef brisket and of the beans.
There you have it, five star brisket and beans! I’m going to have to try the coleslaw next round.
Cheers!
UPDATE:
We stopped again this past weekend for a quick lunch, and each of us had the pulled pork sandwich. What can I say? I ate mine and loved it as did Caroline, but I should mention that I had the coleslaw on the side... And I though the coleslaw was awesome too. :)
