I could write a really long piece about how well Mayette treated my friend and I when we stopped in one odd Saturday morning. The food and hospitality at this lovely restaurant is something you should experience for yourself. The chicken adobo and fried rice are 2 of my favourites on the menu.

We ordered some filipino appetizers from Ate Mayette for our wedding last Oct 7, 2018. Working with her felt so comfortable because she was very accommodating and friendly. From meeting her to discuss menu choices and up to picking up our ordered food was smoothly done because she communicated very well. As for food, 100% tasty. We have non-filipino guests from our wedding, and they were really enjoying ate Mayette's bbq and lumpia shanghai. Everything was worth it. It is unfortunate that I have to edit my post and change my review. *Warning: Please always double check the price on the menu before paying* I was given a pamphlet of Mayette's menu which I took home. I was looking at it today and to my surprise, I realized that the food that I had ordered was only suppose to be $10.95 for the Pinakbet and $10.95 for the Sarciado. At the end I was charged $13.95 per item which I paid and gave tip for the fact that she had made the food from scratch. I paid $30 in cash - I didn't even ask for a receipt because I trusted her. This means that I paid $6 more than what the menu states. Due to my excitement of eating the food, I never looked at the menu, trusting that someone from our country would treat us with honesty, kindness, and respect. I was not made aware that I was being charged more than what the menu states. I also was not told after giving tip that I was already over charged. I really wouldn't have minded paying the increased pricing but the fact that I was not made aware makes me feel that someone that I am already paying stole from me?! I am not sure why this happend but it was very disappointing for me to realize that someone from our own culture would treat their own people in this way. But I also wonder how other cultures who visit this restaurant are treated? Perhaps it's the fact that I don't speak our language or that I did not show that I was not in touch with my roots that made her believe that it was okay to do this? However, I do not believe that this is something that I deserved even if I do not know our culture very well. I will not be trusting ordering from this restaurant again. This was my previous review which I now take back: I have been missing my culture's foods and came here to satisfy my craving. What I didn't expect was to be brought into nostalgia. Mayette reminded me of growing up with my grandmother back home. She provided that feeling of love and care while cooking my food. I loved how she cooks her food fresh. The statements of her food having the true authentic filipino flavors were not wrong! Very grateful for this experience and happy to have gone here to satisfy my desire for our home country's food.

My boyfriend and I got takeout for dinner and tried chicken adobo for the first time - it was great! We also got fried chicken, garlic fried rice and wonton soup. We're looking forward to leftovers since the portions are large, and we'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Happy to find nice Filipino comfort foods which are not overly salty as in many other Filipino restaurants!!! The chef Mayette is very friendly and kind to customers. Although we just stumbled on this restaurant via google maps and were there the first time, the chef introduced us to her friends and family and offered opportunity to sample some dishes and desserts on the house!! This restaurant specializes in catering. It catered for The Philippines Embassy and many important events in the past. Will definitely remember this place when I order food for my next party.

Sept 21, 2015, I arranged a staff lunch and was skeptical as I usually like to try the food first before catering to a large crowd. I have to say that I was not let down, the food was wonderful, and the Beef Stew was amazing, very tender. The Milk Fish was amazing and the noodles was a nice change from regular asian noodles. Everyone really enjoyed the luncheon and received many requests for the phone #. We would definitely have them cater not only our staff luncheon, but other functions as well.

I ordered a tray of vegetable lumpia (spring rolls) and a tray of chicken adobo for pickup for a party. I must say they were very kind to make the orders even though I ordered the night before, they were very accommodating. The food was fresh when picked up and even added few extra pieces at no charge. The quality of the food was good, I specially liked how the chicken adobo was cooked; very flavourful. Overall, the staff were very kind and courteous, the food was great and reasonably priced. I was quite happy with my experience here. As a Filipino customer, I recommend this restaurant.

Decided to go with this place since it was close and the food had good reviews. It did not disappoint! Food was authentic and reasonably priced. We came to tour Toronto and searched for some filipino food since we were tourist. Found this beautiful gem not far from the city. Unfortunately we arrived past thier closing time , yet ms.mayatte invited us to come and sit down for some dinner , she offerd us what was available at that time and its was delicious. Food is delicious and authentic. If you're new to Filipino cuisine, Mayette's is perfect. If not, you won't be disappointed. Service is personal and friendly; Mayette herself helped me cater my mom's birthday party (outside with masks) for 13 people and she suggested the perfect amount of food for the event and for baon (leftovers to take home). I ordered somewhat last minute yet she was able to take care of all our needs with great attention. Prices are fair, service is fantastic. Enjoy!

Picked up lunch from here twice to try out different Filipino foods. The first time we loved the Lechon Kawali as it was perfectly fried, being both juicy and crispy. We had it with garlic rice and also got the Palabok noodles and Chicken Adobo which were good. We loved the Lechon so much that we came back a second time for it but this time it was overly dry, and we got a lot of bones. We also got the Kare Kare oxtail curry which was good but the shrimp paste was too salty for our tastes so we didn't add much of it. We did enjoy the Tortang Talong (eggplant omlette) and garlic rice. We were a bit disappointed this time with the Lechon so we can only give 4 stars. The staff was super friendly and had great customer service so I would definitely hope the next time we come back for the Lechon it will be just like the first!
