This place has all the trappings of a nice restaurant without living up to it's own self image. They missed all the little things. For example, when I asked if they had any brown alees on tap, the server said she didn't know. It took a series of questions to get a list of what was available, and a brown ale was right there the whole time. We ordered a charcuterie platter and two entrees, expecting the charcuterie to be brought first as an appetizer. Instead it arrived with the meals when it didn't really matter anymore. The platter itself made no sense flavour-wise. None of the flavours played off each other, and it was unbalanced toward salty/briny. For some reason there were capers all over everything too, even without a single slice of smoked salmon on the board. We were looking forward to dessert, hoping that would make up for the expensive, underwhelming meal, but it was a B+ experience. I would be willing to try dessert here again, but I came away with the impression that none of the staff, front or back, had ever worked at, or even been to, a restaurant as nice as the one they pretended to be.

Came in around 1PM today, got seated, and placed our orders. Then over 1 hour had passed and we still hadn't gotten our food yet (we did get our drinks, however). Restaurant was not busy at this time, maybe 1/4 - 1/3 full. Service was not great, the waitress hardly came to check on us. There was no explanation as to why there was such a long wait. Unsure if this is normal at this time, but we should not have had to wait almost 90 min for a group of 3 to receive our food.

Wow. Now this is a beautiful place on Broadway. I always passed this place and it looked really cool. But this time we went there for desserts (Ordered some cheesecake) and it's like really cute place. The staff is really cool as well. They made us try their lager before we order. Party of three came here to have some "brunch" style food and I ordered the brocolli fritata with fruit on the side. That meal hit the spot for me as it wasn't overly filling, just right. The place was simple yet elegant and cozy. Our server was great and efficient.

Absolutely terrible. Paid 180.00 for a 20.00 meal. Service was poor. Food was piss poor. Can not express how disappointed I am right now. Went for the Valentines supper but was not informed that it was a set menu. I was expecting a choice from a regular menu. I hope this place goes out of business. People should not subjected to this insanity. Will be telling everyone I know not to go to this restaurant. UTTER GARBAGE!

People from Saskatoon know this is the best dessert in town, but I highly recommend trying the food as well. Almost everything is local and/or organic, and most importantly the kitchen makes everything they can from scratch down to the sauces and garnish. My favourite part of eating here is the fact that they have new features all the time, and chef Taszia is always innovative by serving unique dishes you can’t find anywhere else in the city.

had been here before and while the food had been ok the service was poor however yesterday my 2 cousins had wanted to go for lunch and i had thought that maybe it had improved, it had not. i will say the staff was nice and there wasn't much of a wait, my cousins also enjoyed their shirley temples but that's about where the positives end. first, i had ordered a saskatoon berry lemonade which tasted nothing like the name and was little more than coloured tonic water. then there was the food, there were 3 of us and none of us particularly enjoyed our meals, maybe our first mistake was going somewhere that served so many eggs when 2/3 of us hate eggs, leaving us with very limited options. my one cousin got the kids plate and i have never seen such a strange assortment of food, it looked like something i would have made for my mom when i was child where she would have pretended to take a couple bites and then promptly thrown out. the bread was tough, the cookie was like a rock, the ham was stuffed with shredded carrots for some strange reason, there were loose dark chocolate chips, the least liked chocolate among kids; it all seemed like an attempt at an aesthetic charcuterie board that completely missed the mark on both taste and the target audience, it is to say my cousin didn't eat much and ended up needing to get something more somewhere else. then there was my other cousin who ordered eggs benedict where the eggs were good but the rest wasn't, the bread tasted gross and was hard, as well the potatoes were cut too big so they were cooked on the outside but raw on the inside. lastly i had ordered the seasonal pasta which tasted like almost nothing except the overwhelming amount of mushrooms (i hadn't realized it was possible to make the taste of mushroom that strong), usually pasta is a pretty safe choice when ordering food but i couldn't even finish because the flavour was so bad to me. we had originally planned to order dessert but we were so embarrassed at the idea of being unable to finish our food but buying dessert and scared that we may end up spending more on something that would end up being just as bad. i do apologize if our server sees this, she was very nice and polite however none of us could stomach the food, i am so sorry i do feel bad about how it may have looked when the 3 of barely ate any of our food.

My trip to Calories restaurant was excellent experience all around. My wife, my two year old daughter, and I dropped in for lunch two weeks ago and the food and service was nothing short of outstanding. We were greeted with warm smiles upon our arrival and our server was more than accommodating and very friendly. My daughter, who's an adventurous eater, hugely enjoyed the coconut curry soup with freshly made bread. My wife and I split the lentil burger with french fries. Both were delicious! You could really taste the quality in the fresh ingredients (this is what you're paying for people! Chain restaurants use cheap and/or processed ingredients. If you want quality pay for it. Otherwise go back to Boston Pizza). We also sampled two desserts (Carrot Cake and Gluten Free Chocolate Torte) - both were impeccable and, once again, a huge hit with my two year old. Considering the quality of the food and service, the price tag for lunch was extraordinarily reasonable. I was not surprised to see all the awards and accolades that were posted in the washroom corridor. So if you're ever in Saskatoon, please check out Calories. I couldn't recommend it enough. I will definitely return - perhaps dinner next time!

Somewhat.limited menu but their thing is to be fresh and local. It is okay but I don't think the food is as good as they think it is. If you are diabetic don't even look at the desert options. When I asked about lower sugar deserts I was told they had water. If I was inclined to give free consulting I would tell them it wouldn't hurt to have a berry pie or tarts that has flavour but doesn't blow the glucose sky high.

Had supper Thursday July 10th with friends from Calgary. Husbands both ordered the sirloin steak special and it was too tough to cut and impossible to chew. My husband sent his back to be replaced with steak dish from menu which turned out to be equally as tough and chewy. My girlfriend ordered the duck special which she said was also tough and not very good at all. I had the salmon special and it was good. The service was very good. This has been our "go to place" for anniversaries ect. but husband will most likely not agree to go again. Very disappointing.

They have also managed to keep their prices reasonable, an amazing brunch at calories will cost you less than going to a popular breakfast chain in the city. COULDN'T BE WORSE!!! RUDE RUDE RUDE. Do not eat here. We went to Calories for a nice Sunday brunch. Our server was kind but told us many of the menu items were not available. By the time we decided on food, the server told us several of THOSE options were out too.... When our food came, bacon was missing from a club sandwich as well as eggs benedict. When we asked what happened, they told us they were out of bacon (didn't tell us before we ordered or when they dropped off the food). At this point we were getting tired of nothing being available or right and just wanted to eat somewhere else. When my eggs florentine came, it was a tiny portion in the middle of a big empty plate... sides cost $3 extra!! I sent it back because I didn't think 2 small english muffins with spinach and eggs was worth the hefty $12. All the servers up to this point were, although uninformed about what the kitchen was stocked with, very polite and apologetic. However, the manager came back to our table and very rudely told me that the eggs florentine was INDEED worth $12 because the muffins were baked this morning and the hollandaise was fresh. We, politely, told him that we had had a very disappointing meal, to which he replied that they were too busy for the kitchen and they ran out of things quite often. IF SO, RETHINK YOUR SUPPLIES! He would not take responsibility for anything and never apologized. He told us that if we were unhappy we could just leave! WHAT!?! What kind of service is this? I will never return to Calories. I have never been treated so poorly by a pompous ass of a manager. He should be fired because he is clearly mismanaging his staff and terribly rude to customers. BIG THUMBS DOWN. Terrible terrible terrible. The owner should be ashamed. To boot- the orange juice was NOT fresh, the $7 mimosa was loaded with ice, the poached eggs were hard as well as their homemade english muffin. It's hard to think of what could have made this experience worse.

Living in another province and not knowing anything about this restaurant, I was referred to Calories by Madeline at Bill's House of Flowers. My daughter was getting married Covid style via zoom and I wanted to surprise her and her groom with a cake. I ordered the "Celebration" cake from Taszia and topped it with florals from Bill's. Taszia was amazing. The cake looked and tasted wonderful...everything we had asked for. She went above and beyond and I would highly recommend her and Calories. If I ever make it to Saskatoon, I will be stopping there for sure. Thank you again Taszia...job well done!

A tad pricey, but definitely worth it. The cheesecakes and coffee/teas are what Calories' is known for, but the food is solid as well! Menu items change with the seasons, which ensures that you get the freshest ingredients. We had the Duck & Wild SK Chanterelle salad, as well as their special "Mussels Monday". The mussels were tender, with a great sauce/broth, while the salad had a great balance of textures. Service was quick, but we came in during downtime.

The ambiance of this restaurant is truly welcoming. There is a nice balance of modern, higher class, and a touch of rustic themes. Not to mention, the location is in close proximity to many other great little shops and nice public spaces if you were wanting to take a rest on a walk. Thé crème brûlée and cheesecakes are my go-to dessert options. However, when I was here with my young cousin, she ordered a kid’s dish. I was disappointed to see a handful of loose chocolate chips. I mean, I paid for a nice lunch- not a jr. charcuterie board. The interesting side of chocolate chips aside, still a nice place with good service.

Came for a valentine's dessert to go. It tasted great and price was a little high but as expected. Presentation though? Disappointing for lack of a better word. I absolutely adore visiting Calories. They're food isn't necessarily cheap, but the quality is amazing. Best grilled cheese you will ever eat. An absolute highlight of your visit, or even to pick up to go MUST HAVE, is some cake. Personal favourite is the raspberry angel food cake. The staff are always lovely, and the environment is generally a more subdued sophisticated thing going on. You wouldn't need to dress up, but you could.

The internet didn't disappoint when looking up restaurant recommendations in Saskatoon and it took us a mere few seconds to zero down on Calories; especially since their menu is so inviting. We ordered the trout tartine (the butternut squash takes it to the next level), east coast scallops and pork chops. It is wonderful how their chef weaves a melange of distinct flavors that come together within each dish. We went with their drink recommendations (Viognier for myself and Corbieres for my husband). While their cheesecakes are apparently legendary, we were too stuffed to consider dessert but made up for it with their coffee with Drambuie for a nightcap. A refreshing farm to table concept and a very eclectic menu! Definitely a must visit if you happen to be in Saskatoon.

I live in Calgary. When I found myself looking to send a birthday cake to a client in Saskatoon, I asked a friend who used to live there who she would recommend. She immediately said, “That’s easy. Calories.” I called them and organized the delivery. She wasn’t at the address I gave during the delivery window and so they called her and set a time and place for delivery the next day. I have only ever been for brunch but have had delicious food each time. I love the savoury hash which is duck fried hashbrowns, duck, poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise is a bit more buttery than I generally like, but the duck fat hashbrowns it comes with gives it a more balanced flavour. The last time I was here, we waited over an hour for our food. We later discovered that the waitress had forgotten to put our order through. We were offered a free dessert each to make up for it. The server had also given one of us the incorrect drink and didn't come around for a while, so I had to bring it to the front to get the correct drink. Despite the off service which occurs at times, they seem to try make up for it and have a great atmosphere with delicious food. I highly recommend trying desserts here. We bought a half cheesecake for my birthday and it was rich and flavorful.

The food was absolutely exceptional - everyone at the reception was raving about it the whole time. Food was very well made! Eggs Benedict had a nice creamy sauce, though personally I felt as though it could have used a touch more food given the price. Maybe a bit more hash browns? The fact that the hash browns are fried in duck fat is something to mention - they are absolutely delicious. A tiny bit of sweetness comes through in the fat, but they also don't come across as overly greasy! If you're looking for a place on Broadway to enjoy some decent brunch food, and top it off with a delicious dessert, look no further!

First we came in an hour before they closed asked for takeout and if we could eat it at the bench by the front door, they refused and asked us to leave and wouldn't give us any food and now today we wanted takeout they said it would be a least 10 if not even 20+ minutes for just take out orders. The food is good but expensive. I had the Californian club, it comes with one slice of deli style turkey. Maybe the fancy jalapeno (very mild) sauce costs a lot to make, or maybe it’s the avocado, but I’ve had meatier clubs that cost less. If the sandwich hadn’t come with a side, I would have been very disappointed by the cost/portion ratio. If I hadn’t also selected a slice of cake, I would have come away hungry. There are other things I could mention, but all in all I won’t be back. There are other places with better cost/portion ratios.

YUM. Great place for a date or special occasion. The menu is pretty expensive, but you're in luck if you like what is on the special, which has been $14-16 bucks in my experience. The mussels + fries entre was exceptional ($16 special), my mouth is currently watering thinking about the pork belly appetizer, and of course, if you love dessert, you won't know what to do with yourself.

We've loved Calories for brunch and late night light suppers for years, but I've had reoccurring problems with having my order match my meal. I love the bagel and eggs, but asking for the eggs to be cooked well done has been an exercise in futility. Usually the wait staff just takes it back and returns with it late enough that I am behind my companions. If you've ever had a service problem at Calories, you should give it another try: today, after encountering this problem again, the manager's response made the mistake worth it. My meal was comped, and extras were thrown in. And the bagel was still tasty when I did get it. Thanks for going for a classic take on customer service. It was appreciated!

I had a two day event in early March and did the catering (coffee/tea, snacks and lunch both days) with Calories. I was really, really happy with them! The communication ahead of time was clear, the delivery was prompt and simple, the prices were very reasonable, and the food was absolutely delicious. They were also able to accommodate the folks in my group who had allergies or dietary restrictions, at no extra cost. Finally, this was a zero-waste event and they were totally cool with avoiding disposable dishware and putting the coffee cream in a cute little glass jug (instead of single serving creamers). Overall it was a great experience and I plan to use them again next time I have an event. Would recommend!

Both our Apple & Android cells had problem reading the light wood color QR. HIGHLY suggest that they paint the outline black. Would work much better.

The most confusing experience I've had in any cafe. When we walked in, no one was there to sit us for about 10 minutes and when we thought it'd be okay to sit ourselves, a server FINALLY let us know that they would seat us. This is not the first time I've had this encounter here. The entire time I felt as if they only hired socially-awkward people? As a service business I would expect a more welcoming environment and SOME sort of engaging conversation with any of the employees - the server, host or the cashier. Gave it 2 chances, never again. Have no clue why this place has such high ratings. Do better Saskatoon, raise your standards...

During our recent visit to Saskatoon, we wandered into Calories for brunch As you enter the place you are welcomed by a magnificent setting and then their friendly staff and incredible aroma of food. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth watering dishes, We ordered the Eggs Benedict and Oeufs au Sirop : the Eggs Benedict (Poached eggs on their house made English muffin and house Hollandaise sauce) and Oeufs au Sirop (Two maple syrup fried farm eggs on a croissant w/ bacon). The poached eggs were perfect and their house made muffins were little bombs of buttery, yeasty goodness, and the Hollandaise sauce was robust but not overpowering. The Croissant was crisp and flavorful and the maple syrup fried farm eggs worked together beautifully and to end our wonderful meal we ordered their very famous Oreo and Toffee Cheese Cake which turned out to be the best toffee cheese cake we have ever had. By the end of the meal we were already planning our next visit to Calories before we leave Saskatoon.

Best toffee cheesecake ever, and some lovely wines. I have always enjoyed my meal here. They also have a kid's plate!

I absolutely love it here! Beautiful art, incredible desserts and lovely atmosphere. Their staff is always friendly and I always leave happy. Great food! I also appreciate that although it's a little on the fancier side, they still have a beautiful change table (not a cheap one) in the bathroom and welcome kids to join. As a mom, it's a treat!
