2 butter chicken, 1 Beef Vindaloo, 1 Lamb-Roganjosh and 3 orders of Garlic Naan for $134. Barely fed 4 adults and a teen boy. The rice that came with it were packaged in these tiny, Styrofoam glasses. The main dishes came in containers that are only 5.5 inches in diameter and about 1.25 inches deep of food! $21 for a Butter chicken, and $25 for the beef or lamb. Way overpriced for 'good' tasting food, but far from 'amazing'! Locals were spoiled when Nick was the owner. We miss you Nick! Response to the owner. I'm pretty sure the receipt is in the trash, however I'm sure you can look it up. I ordered at 4:14pm on October 30th, 2021. The amount was $134 and some change. Yesterday, my spouse called to voice our dissatisfaction and apparently you stated that all prices have gone up and you needed to increase your prices and reduce the container sizes to stay profitable. I get it. Of course you can charge what you want and justify it in any way you want, but don't expect this will go unnoticed by customers. I was really surprise at the size of the containers, because the last two times we've ordered with our neighbour, who I think you know and is a very close friend to the original owner Nick, the portions were outstanding. These containers literally look half the size of what we received before.
The food and service is excellent and the best in quality and value for your dollar. The restaurant is very clean. I highly recommend bringing your family and friends to eat here. It is a fantastic experience.
Our server was very nice. The buffet wasn't great, brunch offered. Eggs-from a box or old, pancakes, waffles- halfed, bacon, sausages, roast beef-very thin, eggs benedict and hash browns- from frozen. No toast thats extra. Tea, coffee orange juice or water. $15 per person. Not coming back.
Very nice ambience, great food. One of the best garlic nans. Owner bob was cool and friendly. Staff was also great.
The atmosphere is cozy and the staff are friendly. The food is quite good, though the buffet is a bit limited serving standard roast beef steamed veggies and salad. I've never experienced their breakfast buffet so this review does not reflect that option.
The wait staff is friendly and courteous. The food on the brunch buffet is, for the most part, delicious as well. I would like to give this a 5 star, but a couple of less than great tasting items on the buffet keeps it at a solid 4
Take out
Wayside Dining thanks for amazing food. This place is a doubtless one of the tastiest place to eat in the area. Very high quality standards. I highly recommend this restaurant for real authentic taste. They have Canadian and Indian cuisine.
We really enjoyed the buffet. The buffet had alot of different curries and other dishes. Lots of selection. Something for everyone. The dessert was delicious. The best Indian food around!
I brought 8 hungry construction workers for lunch. I was accommodated quickly with no reservation. The buffet was fresh. The salad bar was great with a good selection. Roast beef was awsome. Everyone was very satisfied. Wait staff was wonderful.
First time going. Will not sit in ever again. Service was horrible. The place was very chilly to sit in, all customers were wearing their coats. Seated us with no menus, got drinks and after an hour had to flag the server to get refills. Watched another couple get up and get their utensils for themselves from the buffet area. Another couple got their food without utensils and had to ask for them. Our food came without utensils and we had to ask as well as having to ask where the starter salad was, this was well over an hour wait. Had to ask for vinegar and salt&pepper. The food was good. If we get it again it will be only takeout or delivery. Not worth a sit in dinner. Sad, I had heard it was a good place, that is why we chose it for a special celebration dinner with some family members who liked Indian food. Wish we had gone elsewhere.
The Indian food buffet is a great way to try something new. A server behind the buffet dishes up your dinner for you.
Waiting for dosa since 45 minutes, not good one will no suggest anyone to choose this place. It is taking forever to bring food.
Indian buffet was not very good ! We ordered take out earlier this year and the butter chicken and naan bread were so much better. The butter chicken had tandoori chicken in a rich decadent sauce. Not sure what happen but it does not taste the same and not prepared the same. The naan bread was very hard and tough even though it was fresh. All the sauces in the dishes tasted the same and had no flavour. I hope other people like it but I will not be going back. Also they sat a very large group of people next to us and our chairs were touching so the proper distance was not adhered to. Also they allowed a customer to walk back and forth to the buffet without a mask. We did not feel comfortable.
The food was alright, the services were not greatest, it took sooooo long for our food to arrive, some items were not what we ordered. The food tasted alright. They jus served 2 roasted papad while I ordered Masala papad for appetizers and than they said “masala papad doesnt come with vegetables and spices on top” ????
Our Red Hat Chapter had a very enjoyable Halloween celebration/buffet at "The Wayside" in the comfort of their private room during these trying Covid times. Kevin and our waitress were very kind & most accommodating and our meal was great. Would highly recommend this establishment.
Having lived in 3 countries (now in St Thomas) with a husband who has travelled (and sampled Indian food in each country) for business to India, Europe, Asia, and Russia this is one of the best Indian food we have had! The spice level was just right, not too hot, good portion size for the money, not a lot of oil, delicate spices, great quality (correct order, customer service and on time, good packaging with minimal waste) and good presentation. Highly recommended!
Amazing meal! Ordered the Beef Vindaloo and Shahi Paneer. Flavours were perfect! Can't wait to try more things on the menu!
Giving 1 star because there's no option for zero stars.. quite overpriced for the quality and quantity.. Tried the Canadian menu so my review is based on the Canadian menu.. After what happened with the Canadian food, i couldn't dare to order any Indian food here.. save yourself some $$
Excellent Dinner! Great Service. Best Indian Food in the area. The waitress was very kind to accommodate a specific request. Will definitely be back!
Excellent ambience with perfect taste of foods. We loved it while returning from a trip from Port Stanley.
Authentic Indian cuisine, must ???? visit.
I originally called to place an order with someone who was rude and they also said I couldn't order Indian food at lunch so I had call back with the alternate order. I placed a large order a week in advance to be delivered. When the time came for our food to arrive, nothing. I called and was told they didn't get the order, acting like it was my fault and that I must not have called them. I was told only woman work there when I said a man took my order. I told the woman to speak with her staff because I know I placed the order. She said someone from the kitchen took their order so it wasn't their responsibility, and put the blame back on me. I said it isn't the customers fault that the wrong person took the order. I said I wanted it for free and delivered right away. I was told initially that it couldn't be delivered but then said she would bring it and give 50% off. I had to call back moments later to gather the original order, and was told that the manager said the discount could not be given. I have never had such terrible service in my life and our business will no longer be ordering from the Wayside in the future, nor will we eat there personally.
Great place. Very Executive Indian authentic food. Taste is real. Food is hot and very tasty. Especially tandoori chicken is very delicious along with butter chicken. Quantity is better then other restaurants. My #1 choice for Wayside.
This place is such a hidden gem! The owners are an absolute pleasure and always take extra special care of their customers. Amazing flavours and great mix of Indian and Canadian cousins. Definitely a recommend place.
We went for all you can eat pasta night, and not only did the food taste out of this world (I'd probably pay at least $15) but our server, Nicholas, was amazing, very friendly and attentive, and the staff at the Wayside provided, by far, the best service from any diner I have ever frequented. I will definitely be returning, I may even come for the lunch buffet next time. 5/5 stars without hesitation
The Chicken Tikka was very dry, not tender as advertised. Should have sent it back to kitchen. I think new ownership is still learning the ropes. If you go then make sure to say something if your not satisfied. I won't be back for a while. Date of visit - Thursday June 24, 2021 Patio Dining
The Indian cuisine was excellent and authentic that I could tell.. Would be 5 star if price was cheaper and larger portions. Butter chicken was great and meat was seasoned well but only about 4oz of meat for 3 PC's each ($20.99). The other items were also very good. I would be a regular if it wasn't so expensive. Actually twice as much as I usually pay.
Food wasn't very good. Seemed like nothing was made in restaurant. All frozen prepared good. My son ordered a burger, it was terrible. I ordered fish, which was ok... But certainly not something I would return for. My husband ordered a buffalo chicken wrap, and half the wrap was void of any chicken.
We were so excited to try the new Indian cuisine however we're extremely disappointed in the service, quality. The value was terrible and a waste of $79. The tandoori chicken was placed on a bed of brown lettuce, and had soggy French fries on top. The butter chicken is 18.99 with nothing except sauce and chicken, no rice or Naan included. We ordered vegetarian pakora and were given samosas with meat I believe beef but not sure. When I called to discuss this the manager rudely told me no one else complained and told me it was fine and offered me $5 off for next time...which there will not be. Update- I called as soon as I got back from picking up the order, nothing had been eaten. I would have drove it back for a refund, I was not offered this.
Decent. Nice to have a good indian food place close to home
Every single time, amazing experience, flavours, quality of food and professionalism of service. A lot of innovative options as well to try out. Will definitely recommend and return with friend’s gatherings once COVID is over and highly recommend take outs from them.
Absolutely Fantastic, the best Indian food I've ever had, beautifully presented and prepared by a chef who really knows their stuff. You must try the Naan it is the lightest and crispiest ever, everything is prepared with so much care and flavour.this is truly a local independent restaurant that should be shouted from the rooftops, get out and try this place the service was great and quite attentive ....If you enjoy Indian cuisine you have to try the Wayside. Thank you a great meal.
First time ordering from here, all 3 dishes were excellent. Flavour, portions, quality. Our new go to for great Indian food
We are so in love with Wayside Dining & Bar here in Talbotville. We have no words to describe how truly amazing food is. So many yummy flavours and textures. We have not dislike anything. Don't know if that even possible. Real Authentic Food. Amazing Owners & Staff. This is our third Consecutive week and having different dishes. My favorite is butter chicken and lamb ragongosh.
This is my favorite place to eat. The yellow Lakeport pearch is the best I ever had, and their Indian dishes are amazing! The owners are wonderful and even take requests for favorite dishes. I HIGHLY recommend checking them out if you haven't already. This place is a gem - you will not be a disappointed.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant in my area. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal!. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in????
Service
We had a wonderful Engagement celebration at Wayside Dining & Bar with 10 family members . The food of course was delicious, and although the place was very busy, the service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Great food! Great service! Great people! So happy they are in our community!
Today I went for Diwali dinner with my family. My experience was horrible. The Owner started fighting with me in front of all customers as when he asked me about the quality of the food and I , honestly told him that it was “SO…SO”. The food was really awful . Instead of taking it positively, he started saying ….”Do you know who I am.” I replied that whoever you are doesn’t matter but I’m telling you the truth. But he didn’t stop and kept on behaving in the same insulting manner. I didn’t expect this type of language and behaviour from an owner. It was really a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE and WASTAGE of TIME and MONEY.
It's ok. Been here a few times for the buffet and it is pretty basic. Came here for brunch this time. Bagged frozen mixed vegetables, no desserts with brunch, mostly supper type foods and no breakfast items. I will order off the menu instead of the buffet if I go here again. Friendly wait staff and cozy atmosphere.
Great food and friendly staff, I will keep going again and again.
Even though I heard several complaints about this place I decided to give them a chance and see for myself .Their sign advertises 12 oz draft beer for only $3.99 well it turns out this only applied to 1 specific local craft beer . So I ordered a premium import instead and 10 medium chicken wings . When I got my wings they were the tiniest wings i have seen and then they were just plastered with a layer of plain bbq sauce on top . I had to ask for napkins twice And then the premium beer was over a $1 more than if I had gone to Legends and ordered the same thing .Others on the patio were complaining about their food and one person even came back and returned his take out order . I dont know if he got a refund or not but he left a few minutes later empty handed. Needless to say I wont be back
Poor quality Indian buffet not to mention way over priced
Had their 89 cent wings and $2.25 lager. Hard to beat that price! Fast service, great quality food. Definitely coming back!
I ordered online in the early afternoon for 6:30 pm pickup. At 5 pm I received a notification that my order was being processed. I arrived at 6:12, admittedly early and was told it would be ready on time. I did not receive my order until after 7:15 pm, 45 minutes late. With tip it was just shy of $60 for Butter Chicken for my mum (Mother's day), Kadai Paneer, garlic naan and onion Kulcha. An ok price for a sit-down meal but a 45 minute late takeway is a bit steep. The onion Kulcha was nice. The Kadai was so so.
50 minutes for a dosa is ridiculous. Worst food experience ever I had. The chutney over here is very bad. Never ever go to this place for Indian food.
Recently visited Shedden and had a takeaway from Wayside. Excellent Indian food with generous servings. Liked it so much I had another takeaway from them a few days later.
1st ever in St. Thomas & surrounding. The best place to find authentic Indian food. Real taste of India. We have been ordering frequently & each time the most delicious experience.
One of the best perch dinners I've had in awhile. Food was great, service was even better. Looking forward to coming back and trying the buffet. My only complaint is that their online menu doesn't match their in person menu. Their website needs to be updated.
Under new ownership and with a slightly different name, the Wayside has added authentic Indian food to the menu along with traditional things like steaks, salads, burgers and fish. My first experience with the new menu was impressive. Seafood chowder, butter chicken and garlic naan. Very flavorful and well-packaged to ensure my takeout meal was hot when I got to my house. My first visit will definitely not be my last.
We are regulars here but visited first time after the dine in started during the pandemic. From the greeting to the goodbye, it was just very hospitable. The food and service was excellent. Highly recommended for Indian food lovers.
We had a wonderful family dinner at Wayside Dining & Bar. Multiple choice of Canadian & Indian Dishes. The food of course was delicious, and although the place was very busy, the service was impeccable. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Love the Wayside! Had our work Christmas party there. Been really happy with all the food! The owner (Bob) is a great guy and his work with the homeless is admirable!!
Took to long for the food 1hr ish and I could have made much better at home garlic bread 2 slices of toast with butter sweet ????
We had reservations for 4 of us at 5 tonight. We arrived at approximately 4:50 pm and were seated immediately. After hearing from our waitress, the selections on the buffet, we all decided on that option. An employee dished out our selections and handed us our plates at the end of the line to abide by the Covid restrictions. We were not disappointed! Everything was hot and delicious. We never felt rushed, and had plenty of space around us. It was our first visit to an eat-in restaurant since the start of the pandemic, so were a little hesitant to go, but a friend of ours was turning 60 and we wanted to take her somewhere special. You nailed it Wayside! We'll definitely be back soon.
Nice spot to spend the leisure time with our friends and family. The butter chicken and naan combo was awesome and it was the best butter chicken that I ever had in the london region. Really thankful for giving tasteful food.Waiting for the easter special!!!!
Bad uncooked food. Service personnel was rude. Sent you the receipt as well in response to your personal message. Please focus on improving your food and services rather than coming after customers ferociously on personal messages.
It was amazing experience overall. It was “sone pe suhaga” after having a long and tiring day at the beach. Multiple option available for international as well as Canadian food lovers. Highly recommend to try their food. ???????? cannot wait to go in for dinner and enjoy their in restaurant environment.
What a flavourful and tasty food i am loving it.. they customize the spices as per our choices.. Butter Chicken, Lamb, Beef, Biryani.. you name it and they have it.. all are my favourite.. Definitely Recommended.
It's not our first rodeo when it comes to Indian cuisine. We've been here several times and have ordered take out before, and we'll keep coming back. Our server, Crystal, was very nice and helpful (we had a toddler and two kids with us) and our food was absolutely delicious. The whole family enjoyed it. We totally appreciate that we finally have another option for authentic Indian cuisine in St. Thomas and we encourage everyone to try the new Wayside. Thank you for a great experience and see you again soon, Crystal!
WoW! New favourite restaurant in St. Thomas. Ordered take out (Indian menu) after hearing about the new cuisine at the Wayside. Food was fantastic, full of flavour, perfect portion sizes and ready on time for pick up. Come on St. Thomas you have to support this restaurant. This is the type of establishment we need fighting the mundane offerings of chain restaurants and fast food that are normally on offer. Will definitely be ordering take out again and hopefully dining in, sometime in the very near future.
Terrible experience. Took forever to get water and food. Asked if we wanted fries or salad brought both without clarifying the salad would be an extra 2 dollars for a tiny salad. Chicken smelt bad and tasted bad. Vaguely mentioned a fire that happened recently. Waiter took my plate as I was still eating my fries. Even after taking off 2 meals from the bill due to the bad chicken the total was still over 70$. DO NOT RECOMMEND, SAVE YOUR MONEY. EDIT REPLY TO OWNER The audacity you have to reply this way. We had no knowledge of the payment not working, the waiter did not mention the payment didnt work, she told us to have a good night as we left. Still charged us for the gravy that was part of one of the meals taken off the bill. You also were not the person that came to speak to us in the restaurant, not sure why you are replying to this review and not the owner who came to handle the situation.
Ordered a dozen shrimp(came with fries) 22$ and i got 6 shrimps for that price i told owner i think the menu sais a dozen(12) and he said im wrong until i showed him that it does than he said its error. 22$ for 6 pieces of shrimp and a handful of fries was alittle rough but service was good the waiter was working the place alone and did amazing for having to run around alone in busy place. Waiter good????food iffy ????♂️
Wow, fantastic Diwali Event. Food is unbelievable. Very fine real authentic taste. Veg.Manchurian mind blowing. $25 price is nothing. They beat all Indian restaurants in Brampton area. Very clean and Good restaurant.
First time, very happy. Food was great (chicken tikka masala & beef vindaloo), not too spicy and more than enough (with leftovers). Friendly service. Definitely will order again!
Fantastic, delicious food! Excellent service & a wonderful owner. A must try if you enjoy authentic Indian food.
This place is under New ownership and doing fine .we went to have lunch and all had the buffet Except for one that had a sandwich rap. The service was fast and good . The server took our bar order and was back soon. The New owner introduced himself to us as he was cutting the prime Rib. The children all ate for free. After dinner we were all given a desert of our choice. That came with the cost of the buffet. Then coffee.. the food hasn't changed to much. I would recommend this place to eat .
Visited this place many times, Every time we had Amazing food and service. Lamb dish is so tasty and mouthwatering. Highly recommended for authentic Indian flavours.
