Excellent food with good tasting coffee. Service was friendly and professional. Seems like a quaint local hang out. Will definitely go back when in the area
They have a breakfast menu that is served till two, as well as a brunch menu. The breakfast special, and omelettes were very good. Breakfast potatoes were excellent. Brunch menu is quite extensive, a little something for everyone. Prices are average. Food was good and service was great.
Had a disappointing experience at this establishment. The staff was rude from the moment we walked through the door. We arrived on a Wednesday evening around 7pm and stood at the front door waiting to be sat for nearly 10 min. I could see the 2 waitresses behind the counter bickering about who would seat us. When we finally did get a table we sat for another 15 minutes without receiving water or beverages. Needless to say we were unimpressed at the slow service as the restaurant was not full, or busy. We ended up walking out because our business was clearly not appreciated. Not the way we envisioned our date night....
Service was great but I missed my ham sandwich that had the cheese melted all over it. That was the best sandwich in Winnipeg. I dreamed bout it for day's before we went Oh well.
Brunch
I don't normally go out of my way to post reviews but tried this place on Saturday for the first time and was very impressed! We initially came for le burger week but decided to try some other things to. We came when it was very busy and we even though we didn't have a reservation they squeezed us in. The lady who greeted us at the door was very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was awesome. He was funny, efficient, and real and we had a kick out of hearing him entertaining some senior ladies in a big group. There was lots of laughs. He was caught up for a bit with this table but the other waitress from the door was always around and checking on us. The staff here seem to really like their job and create a welcoming place to sit and eat. Now the food.... Delicious! Doesn't need any salt or anything else. We are glad that Burger week brought us in to try this cozy little spot. Keep doing what you are doing.
We came to celebrate a birthday of one of our friends, we all enjoyed the food and service and the atmosphere. Will come again for sure
Nice place . Had good service and a good variety on the menu. The parking lot is on the smaller side but there is parking on the streets. 6 of us went for breakfast and everyone had something different.
excellent blueberry duck with red wine.also the bison tortiere withe gravy was exquisite.there are also highchairs for toddlers.reservations recommended.sadly tho there are no change tables in the washrooms.
Whether dining as a couple or a group it's a great restaurant to check out. Their summer patio has a great view of the downtown skyline and is located a short walk over the bridge to The Forks
Good choice of food, and a lovely view of the rivers, downtown, and the Museum. Very slow service, however. Took an hour and a half for a table of 7 to get our order. The place wasn't busy at the time, so unsure why the delay. Excellent food once the wait was over though.
Food was very tasty. They have very good coffee. Service was great, friendly staff. Very busy on the weekend.
We we're new in town and just happened to stumble across this place. The portions were good, the prices were low, and the service was great. It felt like a diner where you wouldn't be out of place dressed up or fully casual. Don't know how else to describe it other than it felt like the hole in the wall everyone wants to find. Highly recommended.
Meh, not really sure what the fuss is about. Came for the first time during lunch and we were not impressed. To sum it up, food presented great, but when you get down to it was flavorless. Soup (broc. & cheddar) was very bland. Beef sandwich, same comments. Fries were the best part. Service was also lackluster. Sure our server was pleasant but just did not do a good job. Our water glasses sat empty more than once, my coffee was empty, never topped up. Food took much longer than average to arrive and no we were not in any rush. After finishing our meals our empty plates sat in front of us for nearly 10 minutes with no visit from our server. So like I said, meh........we won't be returning to this establishment.
I want to give this more however there were a few major things that take stars away. 1. Friend had a hair in her food. Waitress took it away, only replaced the toast and gave it back. The toast was burnt and soggy like it was the SAME toast, retoasted and hair removed from plate. Yuck! 2. No discount given for hair? I had to ask why there wasn't at least 10-15% taken off. The waitress said "I can probably do a discount if you want one" why should we have to ask? It was a hair! She took off $1.50?!?!?!? Not even the cost of the coffee. 3. Mimosas $7. Yikes! Food was good, lots of flies and bugs crawling around the ceiling and window. Hostess at beginning wasn't very bright. Ask for creme twice and she brought milk.
Dinner was amazing! Definitely a real treat in Winnipeg. Loved it, can't wait to go back!
A nice night out but nothing too special. The room is lovely with a great view of the river, and lends itself to intimate conversation. And the portions are generous - you will not leave hungry. The tortiere and turtle cheesecake were tasty but dry. The wine was good. The server was friendly and checked in with us just often enough, but didn’t know much about the wine.
Food was awesome. Could have been hotter.
Delicious food but service was slow and we weren't even acknowledged for for a while when we entireed, despite staff working behind the counter right in front of the door.
Picked up two of their frozen heat at home meals at curbside pick up so we could have something special for a birthday dinner. We ordered the Asian pork ribs and they were delicious. The servings were very generous so we only reheated half the side dishes and left the rest in the freezer for another time. It was a good call because the serving for two was more than enough to feed the three of us (2 adults and a senior) the ribs were very meaty and the meat just slid off the bones. So good. We would definitely consider trying the ribs again or something else from the menu next time. The only complaint I have would be the carrot side dish has different reheating instructions (thaw first, heat in the oven) than the main dish and the potatoes (boil in the bag from frozen). I had just read the instructions on the ribs so when I went to prepare the meal it was too late to thaw the carrots. We ended up microwaving them and they were fine, but I think they would have been better in the oven.
This location has had a bunch of incarnations over the year, thankfully, this iteration is a really good one. Top notch establishment as it pertains to the location, it's clean and nicely decorated. The food is tasty with a good selection and the prices are fare. The one gripe is the parking, chances are, you'll need to fin street parking nearby. The french onion soup will not disappoint.
Incredible breakfasts, maybe the best in the City. Coffee to die for, fresh and unique locally sourced fresh ingredients masterfully combined and prepared. Equally as pleased with lunch and diner. World-classed food at a budget price served in a wonderful atmosphere with a view of Pont Provencher/Esplanade Riel and the Human Rights Museum; a truly unique dining experience.
What a fantastic breakfast with exceptional & friendly service. Will definitely be back with friends and family to try lunch and dinner meals. A gem of a restaurant.
The French Bistro has a warm casual feel. Service was excellent. Not to attentive and we never had to look around for our server. Gluten Free bread for my Reuben and they had a gluten free soup as well. Portions were the perfect size. Great menu selection plus specials. I had been once before for brunch which was also exceptional. I will fo back.
Came here for the first time today and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was amazing and the food was great and looked beautiful. If you want a good quality local breakfast, this is the spot. I will be back for sure.
This has been my favourite restaurant in Winnipeg for years! Every meal has been superbe and fairly priced. We booked for New Years Eve 2018 for the five course meal and were very excited! It turned out to be a big dissappointmet. It started with the amuse bouches which had a combination of bizarre tast and tasteless, then the bouillabaisse soup which was not good at all, the salad ok, the main courses mediocre as was dessert. We have never had such a meal there before. Then the bill!! With one bottle of wine (and two extra glasses) with taxes and gratuities, the total for 4 was $530. I do not mind paying if the meal is excellent, but unfortunately this one was not
Wrong order and undercooked hashbrowns, Left most of it . Was very disappointed.
I was walking past this place yesterday and thought I would just ask if they required a vaccine passport to eat there, as some businesses are standing up against this discrimination I figured I would give it a shot at this place. There was a woman outside who was noting but rude when I approached and started to give me a law lesson I did not ask for. I just found myself beginning to think as she spoke, if she is that rude to new comers who approach with just a simple question, I can only imagine how the treatment of the customers is just to eat in this place. Then I read the reviews here and had all of my questions answered. I would highly recommend taking your money elsewhere people like Monstrosity Burger on Corydon, they do NOT require a mask or passport to eat there, it is great food and they do NOT discriminate based on a piece of paper. They treat their customers with respect and their choices unlike this place.
Tucked into the corner of Tache and Provencher with a nice view of the Human Rights Museum and walking bridge. Service is excellent and food is great. Lots of natural light during the day. Comfortable seating.
Best breakfast ever. The coffee was perfect. Our meal was tasty and good. Service was perfect! We'll come back!! Love it!
Service was great . Food was just right will come again
Meal type
Love, love, love the Promenade! Great place for a special occasion or romantic night with the rustic interior and beautiful view of the Riel bridge. The staff are always lovely and the food is always fantastic. Awesome wine menu!
The restaurant website states that all food is made in house. When I asked the waitress about the gnocchi, she stated that it is not made fresh in house and is frozen. We had the mussels - absolutely amazing and the highlight of our meal. We also had fries, which were overcooked. Overall, the meal was okay.
Had brunch here and ordered the special which was breakfast sandwich with split pea soup. Sandwich was awesome, pea soup is really really really good! It’s my place to go for pea soup now. Wife ordered breakfast and we shared an order of crepes, these were tasty too. Service was excellent as well and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Promenade Cafe we will be seeing you again soon!!!
Fantastic food and service. Best of all the views are unforgettable.
My partner and I went to Promenade Cafe for le burger week and the staff there was so nice! The host mentioned it was his first day at this location and he was a pleasant to deal with! Our server Christie is an amazing server, she brings iconic hospitality! Thank you for the lovely staff at Promenade Cafe! That was our second time visiting there and we will be coming back!
I haven't been here enough to say I love it but I will definitely be returning. Service was exceptionally friendly. They serve breakfast until 1130 mon-fri. Saturday is ends at noon. We went for lunch. The gnocchi was delicious, the texture pillowy soft. The quesadilla was good. Not a very heavy one. The one thing that knocked it was the long wait for food. If you don't mind that and have time to wait, come here. The desserts were also outstanding.
This place was AMAZING! Food was unequaled, staff was very knowledgeable, and the wine pairings were the best part. Would love go return! We dressed up and we were happy we did. Others were wearing formal and business casual clothing.
I attended with 3 other people who enjoyed the food. My back ribs were old and the fat was rancid. We sat too close to the kitchen and was too noisy our mistake. Service was average as there were two servers but only one motivated and trying to satisfy everyone. Poorly managed place.
Food was great and our server was awesome! I unfortunately do not remember her name but I know she was Romanian. And the reason why I know that was because another server came up to us and said "sorry I don't mean to bother you guys...but we have another reservation for this table." We told her we were waiting for the bill and she asked us who our server was and that's how we found out she was Romanian, because she stormed off and our server came immediately afterwards. I get it, the table was booked but what makes me angry is that the table we were at was reserved by me. Our reservation was at 10am...at 1040am we are basically being told to hurry up cause we need this table, this table specifically, not the other table that is right beside us that also sits specifically 2 people, this table and only this table. Again our server was amazing! But who ever came up to us at the end and rushed us out really ruined the experience for myself and my wife. Again our reservation was at 10am January 25th 2020 if you would like to contact me, you have my information.
Very friendly and accommodating staff (even with a finicky 10 year old, they went out of their way to make it special for him). The cuisine was delicious - I especially enjoyed their bison tortierre!
Located at the corner of Provencher and Tache, Promenade Cafe provides an intimate dining experience while allowing for required social distancing. My son and I had the Smashed Poutine with Bothwell cheese curds, gravy and tourtiere and agreed it was delicious!! My wife had the Seafood Gnocchi and said it was divine. My son's girlfriend had the Charcuterie Et Fromage and was very happy with her choice as well. The service was prompt and friendly. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices.
5 stars for Winnipeg weekend brunch. A popular spot but the wait wasn't too long like other establishments frequented in the area. Very friendly and quick staff, charming atmosphere, and nice attention to presentation like the small glass pots of Manitoba made jams. Brunch was quick to the table and priced very reasonably (had a bistro breakfast & coffee) which comes with a pretty epic view of the city's skyline. Looking forward to trying the lunch menu soon. Planning to be back often.
Comes in on a very strong 4 stars. We eat here often, albeit breakfast most of the time. Great view of the city from this location, the staff are very friendly. Prices are reasonable and menu selection is decent. They seem to do the dished they offer, really really well. I had the Boeuf Bourguignon today. Very tasty and the buttery mashed potatoes really went down well.
I frequented this place for years, when it was Called Promenade Bistro, and prior to that, but I hadn't been there for a long time. We recently went there for brunch and it wasn't a good experience. We shared the trout crepe and the applle pie crepe, and we each had the same opion of both dishes. The trout crepe really could have used a sauce of some kind, and it would have benefited from having trout in it. Haha. Seriously, it had practically no trout, I wish I'd taken a picture to post along with this review. We felt pretty ripped off. It also didn't look at all appealing. The apple pie crepe was super bland and plain. Even just a pinch of nutmeg would have helped. The staff was really friendly, but the service from our server was not goo. We were there for about an hour and didn't have our waters or coffees refilled even once. Then we waited forever to pay our bill. I eventually asked a passing server if we were supoosed to pay inside(we were on the patio), she said that she'd let our server know we were ready to pay. We then kept waiting and waiting, finally I got up and started to go inside to pay , when our server finally came out with the bill. It's definitely not what it used to be. When it was called Promenade Bistro it was always fantastic. Juneberry, The Gates, and The Marion Street Eatery are definitely better locally owned spots for brunch/breakfast.
Fantastic experience, as always, even with all the challenges of covid and the bustle of burger week. Massive thanks to all serving staff for their continued efforts and amazing and safe service.
Went there this morning stood at the front for 15 minutes before someone acknowledged us. When the girl brought us to our table she was very rushed and basically ran us to the table and ran away. Asked for sunny side up and got over easy eggs.
Food was great. Had the onion soup and the hamburger for burger week. The only thing was our food took quite a while but our waitress was really nice
It's been a few weeks since I dined here, but I certainly recall enjoying it. I believe I ordered a corned beef skillet type dish. Anyway, it was tasty. Decor is nice, service was great. Some seats offer a nice view of the Provoncher Bridge. I'll be back again some time!
What a fantastic breakfast with exceptional & friendly service. Will definitely be back with friends and family to try lunch and dinner meals. A gem of a restaurant.
Bonne goût! Formidable! What a treat. From great service to authentic cuisine française - croque madame and French onion soup - Promenade alone was a wonderful reason to pop into Saint Boniface. Not only will we be back, but it's likely tomorrow! Don't miss this gem in Winnipeg.
Delicious and very nice place!!
Ordered soft easy over eggs along with there sausage and toast. When it finally arrived. The hashbrowns were burnt black. The eggs broken and rock hard. Told waitress about it, no offer to replace. Would mention to cook that was it. Worst breakfast ever. Will never go back.
We were disappointed upon arrival. Our last experience was 18 months ago and the restaurant then was very nice with a romantic ambience (table cloths, cutlery, decoration, etc). This is why we wanted to come back to celebrate a wonderful occasion like last time. This time it appeared sparse and lost its romantic appeal. The food definitely suffered in quality. The pea soup was merely warm. The Caesar salad was too fishy. The chicken frit was deep fried too long, much too brown and a bit dried out. The lemon cake tasted like it was in the display case a day too long. The cream for the coffee was spoiled and a new coffee was required. Overall an experience that will not result in a recommendation, a complete opposite of our last visit.
A wonderful, almost unique place to go to. Relaxing, superb attendees, Andrea our waitress was sweet and pleasant, adored the clean space, fresh food, price point, the patio has the best views of the red River, human rights museum, it's spacious, never crowded, quick service and the most important for us, we can bring the dog to our patio.!
This restaurant is located right by the river and you can see the museum of human rights from the window tables. The staff is super friendly and the food is excellent. I had quiche du jour and it was great. Highly recommended.
Shout out to the server that complimented me and my girlfriends names, hands down best compliment we’ve both ever received. Still riding that high. 10/10 hospitality, view was great and food tasted awesome. Nice quiet little place.
Food was great, restaurant is beautiful, staff were friendly. Service was a bit slow and the payment machine defaults to only a 20% tip option unless you choose 'other' and type in your own value. I am not a fan of such games. Otherwise a great time.
A slice cake in a slice of France right by downtown Winnipeg is one way you could describe this cafe. That would not do it justice however for the food here is far more than just cake. If you are in the area please do yourself and your taste buds a favour and visit this lovely eatery.
Went for a couples/friends evening out. Service was great. Bison burger was good, but a little over cooked. Beef bourgeoisie was fatty. Chefs special was a pork tenderloin, was good. Coffee nice and strong. Atmosphere was casual and relaxing. Great view of the river.
Pork tenderloin. Tasty and properly prepared vegetables. Price realistic. Friendly server who didn't need to tell you her life's story. Noticed they served customers who showed up close to closing time without comment
We had breakfast here and everything was delicious. We did have to wait a while for our order to be taken. But the food was worth the wait. Great place to eat in the French Quarter in Winnipeg.
Food was Great! Atmosphere was perfect! Unfortunately the service was very poor. We were seated for about 20 minutes before one of us got tired and then asked for our orders to be taken. After that point, food came out relatively quick. Lastly, the bill came and because it had to be split, it ended up being wrong and also required fixing.
We had made dinner reservations for the 6 PM sitting on New Year's Eve. We arrived 10 minutes early. We were seated beside a table where there were 3 babies, two of which was crying for most of the time that we were there. We were seated for 20 minutes before our waiter approached our table and asked what meal we wanted. We were not offered the opportunity to order an apéritif drink and asked for one. When our drinks were served, we asked the waiter if he could light the candle the table. He replied that he needed to find a lighter, yet the candle was never lit. We were not served an "amuse bouche" as was indicated on the menu. When the meals came, the potatoes and the pork medallions were cold. Although we have dined at this establishment on a number of previous occasions, including special occasions, this was a disappointing experience because of the service and the environment .
Great atmosphere. Good menu. Fantastic food. Not a lot of vegetarian options for lunch, but a reasonable selection during breakfast. Very small parking lot, free street parking available nearby.
Take out
Our group of four recently ate dinner at this restaurant. The service was very good, the wine was lovely, and the food was delicious. Although the prices are somewhat high for a fairly casual atmosphere, we did enjoy the meal. It was easy for us out-of-towners to locate and there was free parking. We have been here quite a few times. Atmosphere is very good, so is service and food. On Sundays you can have breakfast until noon, then it is lunch only. Tried different dishes, all excellent.
My sister and I enjoyed a lovely lunch here July 2nd. The social distancing was great with people well spaced out. The service was excellent and the food was tasty! Inside or out, it is a great place to go.
Super romantic, very beautiful. So fun to be in the French Quarter as well as have French food. A+ service, delicious cuisine. Would recommend.
While it’s not one of my favourite restaurants, it is a great place. They have a nice wine and beer menu and serve some nice cuisine. Service has always been pleasant. It’s not a top of mind restaurant for me, but I always enjoy my meal.
5:45 PM Saturday had no line up but the we needed a reservation. Be there 10 times and never had a issue to get a table or to wait for one. Must have been a large group with the reservation. To popular now for walk in's. Makes it tough for families on a tight schedule. Great place for retired people and people who have time. I'm honestly not the type of person who likes making reservations. Will miss the good food they have to offer.
Service
Had their Fried Chicken Fest entry and it's definitely a winner winner, chicken dinner (or lunch and obvs breakfast). Big portion! We'll be back for sure.
Nice place for casual Sunday brunch, but if you have decent cooking skills you can make just as good yourself. It's worth the extra cost to head to Chaise Cafe up the block if you want something fancy. Lunches are a good deal with lots of options. It's a good choice if you're spending a day at the forks as the walk over the bridge is quite nice - when it's not winter.
The staff are friendly and the restaurant is aesthetically pleasing. The dinner quality and portions with the wine pairings are wonderful. The desserts are also nice but i recommend sharing one dessert since the portions are large and the dinner is filling. The trout is very good and it is light. The pork is good but not super good. I strongly recommend the lamb.
Tried this cafe this morning, beautiful setup. As we entered we were welcomed by one of the staff and were asked whether we had any reservations. Unfortunately we did not had one but luckily we got a table without any delay. Food tasted good and service was ok. The cafe also sells home made jams and honey. If you ever plan on visiting this place please make a reservation or else you might have to wait.
Amazing food and service! Ordered the burger du bison with added blue cheese and bacon, and the soup for the side. Very messy, but very delicious (a staple sign of a good burger lol) Specialty coffees were a little on the strong side, but definitely didnt mind. Crême brulée was a little burnt on top but still tasty. Server was friendly.
Had the muscles and they were spot on made with a cream sauce with bacon thrown in for good measure. For the main the Croq Vin was delicious and the potatoes were very creamy. Server was very pleasant and price was reasonable...oh yeah the coffee was top notch as well....a little taste of France while in Winnipeg.
Great place to meet and share with friends and family, nice beers and tea's, also Amazing dishes.
We four ladies had lunch...the food was great, good atmosphere and views of the downtown area. However an incoming client slipped on the floor and knocked coffee cups and water glasses flying. While this was an accident and nobody was to blame, the staff could have been more attentive in bringing cloths, etc to wipe up the mess. A couple of the ladies were dowsed by the flying liquids and there was no apology or concern expressed.
Un des meilleurs restaurants francophones a Winnipeg. La cuisine est très bon et le service est toujours excellent! Last night I was there with a big francophone group and Rachelle has just made the experience a great one! A wide variety of french plates, drinks, and desserts! Highly recommend it! Will diffidently go back! Merci Promenade!
Cozy place and close to the river, staff are kind and the food is well presented and tastes good. They offer tasty wines. I liked the way they serve their tea (video is attached). A good place to have a lunch/dinner and go for a walk at the riverside
I had the Mediterranean Baked Eggs!! O. M. G! Flavor explosion!! Super delicious and great, friendly service!
Food is always great. Wished they had more parking though.
Great food and atmosphere. The gnocchi was immaculate and so was everything else. Loved the desserts they offered too (Dinner) Breakfast - Not so great, it was actually disappointing. We had high expectations after our experience with dinner but breakfast did not meet them.
Food was disappointing. Not at all what I was expecting when the menu read "Coq au Vin". What I received was a couple of chicken thighs and gravy. The chicken was tender and moist - but Not Coq au Vin. Vegetable were pleasant. Service right and on time.
Came here for breakfast with my mom and godfather who lives out of town. The food amd service was wonderful! And the view you get is great too. Excellent place to come and people watch.
the food is delicious and the service is exceeding. absolutely recommended!
It is a enjoyable dinning experience. The food are great and the price is fairly enough. You better make a reservation as if it is quite hot spot .
Burger week 2020 review: First off, this review is mostly just for the burger as we ordered a pickup order. This restaurant, unlike many others taking part in Burger Week, allowed me to call ahead and place an order for a specific time. This was greatly appreciated, allowing me to pull up, go in, pay and grab the burgers without a massive wait. The burger itself was excellent. The soft and crunchy cheeses were really tasty, as was the onions and arugula. To me, the burger didn't nail the French onion soup flavour, but I'm not sure that is possible with a burger. Very not messy, which I like. Highly recommend.
This place has gone downhill. I used to frequent a few times a week in the evening and occasional Sunday brunch pre covid- many business meetings and entertaining friends have been here however I will not be back again. The service is horrible. It is evident the people you have are inexperienced now, dirty uniforms and avoid tables instead of keeping me updated. When i am paying over $25 a plate I expect a certain level of service which you do NOT have anymore. I started coming regular for your service, now, absolutely not.
What a wonderful little bistro on the Boniface side of the river in Winnipeg. Excellent, professional, knowledgeable service and fantastic food. We had the steak tip sandwich on a baguette (wow, I didn’t want it to be finished), French onion soup, Reuben sandwich, bison burger, smoked meat quiche and a huge club sandwich. Everything at our table was delicious and perfectly prepared. Don’t miss it. 8 of us ate for $177, including tip.
I unfortunately had a bad first experience here. We walked in and were asked if we had reservations at 9am on a Thursday. Not sure why we were asked that because the restaurant was fairly empty. We ordered the classic breakfast and the smoked meat hash and the potatoes were burnt and cut into irregular shapes as if there was no care or love put into even a simple hash brown. They also tasted like they had been over cooked multiple times, just very bad. The smoked meat was pretty much non existent on the plate. We mentioned something to the waitress and nothing was done to remedy the situation. The only plus was that they had gluten free bread. Not sure if this restaurant is losing money and trying to save money or what, but it came across like no one seemed to care. We were also walking out and saw another plate being sent back for cooking someone’s eggs incorrectly. Maybe it was just the chefs working at the time, but also the waitress came off as judgemental and very unhelpful.
Great food and service. Gluten free options.
3 1/2 star - Hit and miss with quality of food/dessert. Dessert pricey vs portion
Not a good breakfast experience here. The coffee is definitely watered down, and the food was rubbery and very under-cooked. Food arrived tepid (not hot). Food was bland and tasteless (terrible tasting breakfast sausage and very under-cooked bacon). Not sure why all the great reviews here. But, I will never, ever return here ever again.
Unfortunately this place has changed a lot since the time I was a regular here for my weekend breakfasts. My last time I came here for a lunch in February. I was looking to have a soup as I was feeling a little bit under the weather. Before sitting I asked two staff members if there are any soup options. They checked and said yes and gave me the two potions. Since I found what I sat down. About 10 min later after waitress took my order I got another waitress coming to me and letting me know that they don’t serve soups on Sundays. That was disappointing, as I was already expecting one. I’ve browsed menu once again, trying to find something else that wouldn’t make me sick (allergies and troubled stomach limit my choice). I found another meal and ordered it to find out they out of ingredients for that one ... At that moment I felt like it’s easier to ask what they actually carry at the moment from the whole 3 page menu. I was already 20 min in and nowhere close to eating so I settled with another option that I wasn’t too excited about, at this point I was just looking to eat anything so I’m not late to my meeting. I ordered meal and a hot tea (I specified as there was a cold option too). My meal came with a room temperature rooibos tea, completely not brewed. I asked waitress for a hot tea. She brought back tea pot with exactly same temperature. Had to leave that untouched. Food was fine, however made me sick (peppers make me sick and that wasn’t mentioned that it was part of the ingredients). At the checkout I mentioned my cold tea and they were kind enough to make a hot one for to go. Which was nice, but definitely didn’t recover this experience.
Had the bistro breakfast, the cook had piled orange wedge and toast on eggs. Coating both with yoke. Country sausage was dried out and tasteless. 1/3 hashbrowns burnt black and remainder appeared to be reheated and not fresh. Told server who said sorry, and walked away. Coffee was good. Very dissappointed with the rest.
Great brunch options. I went twice in a month and one of the few places that is sti serving creme brule.
Promenade is always a great place to eat. Whether it is a night out with friends or a special occasion, the food and atmosphere work well for anything. They have friendly staff, amazing food and quite the wine selection
Came for burger week but the rest of the menu looked great too!
Great food, friendly employees and good view
Absolutely love eating here. I’ve been many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never left disappointed. Best club sandwich in St-B. Bœuf bourguignon to die for. Seafood gnocchi is divine. Serving staff super friendly. Always a wonderful experience.
Came in Saturday morning Walked in, the blonde hostess was rude and not welcomely not even asked nicely to put ur mask up, “Can you put ur mask up” as a rude wAy as soon I got inside the first door, at least say pls, or kindly say it So walked in and decide to walk out, kinda gave me a bad vibes already, would never go again at this cafe.
Stellar food at an excellent price in a charming venue with excellent service. One couldn't ask for more! Truly enjoyed breakfast, my wife and I went with two couples and then we went again a week later. Both times the service was excellent and the food was amazing. I wish I would have discovered this restaurant before. This is my new favourite restaurant. On a brisk day, we stopped in to get warm with coffee and sugar (cake) -- and the cappuccino was exactly how I like it, the right mixture of coffee, milk and foam, and the right amount of cinnamon!
Excellent food and service. Lovely patio.
Excellent food and ample portions. The service is also very efficient and upbeat. Pricing, however, is above that of your local cafe... probably, because of - see above.
Have been here 2 times both times our server has taken exceptional care of us. I ordered a coffee, as she set it on the table I realized they had Bailey's and without a second thought she said she could turn my coffee into a whipped Irish coffee, it's care like that, that makes me want to come back!!
Good option if you want to go out and try something new (assuming French cuisine isn't your staple). Photographd after the french beer: Filet de Porc (1/2 portion, with Brandy and Maple glaze); Cheescake (with Nutella and Almonds!)
This is one of my go to places in Winnipeg for all of occasions and all meals. Whether it is bison sausage at breakfast, tortiere for lunch , or fine prairie inspired dining for supper, Cafe Promenade never disappoints. And always make room for the desserts- as you walk in, you can’t miss them and will be glad you ordered! It is also the most reliable restaurant for my out of town guests- and great service !
Went in with my daughter. The fries were so hard and crunchy, overdone, like they were scraped out of the bottom of the deep fryer. The bison burger tasteless. Actually happy I spent $2 for the Bothwell cheese they put on it. That and ketchup were the only things with flavor. I know a lot of people like the place, and that's all good. To me, a waste of money for one of the crappiest meals I've had in a long time.
This would be five but the last time we went the food left us wanting more for our money. Not sure if ownership changed or what because it uses to be amazing. Some speciality dishes make it a place to try. Beautiful views of the river and forks making it romantic.
Went for brunch on their patio a few weeks back. The food and service were not what was expected. We waited 45+ minutes for our food, and the server didn’t update us on what was happening until we had to hunt her down. We were told they ran out of hollandaise sauce and had to make a new batch. Once we got our food it only tasted okay. The long awaited hollandaise was bland and they give a very small portion. The bannock was the highlight, but very small piece.
Incredible quality, preparation and service. The menu is top notch, ingredients are always natural and mostly local - and they have interesting beer and wines you won’t find anywhere else
Servers are friendly and accommodating, food portions are normal sized and you won't leave being hungry. Food quality is superb and the taste is fantastic. I had the poutine and it was delicious!
Very neat lil restaurant at the foot of the bridge - terrific views for inside by the way.
Great brunch in particular with attentive service and nice views from patio
Great food, loved it so much. The service was a little slow. My waitress ashley was seemingly mad towards us for no reason. Still enjoyed it, would recommend. Au Revoir.
I have gone to this place for years and seems to be taking a step backwards. The last two times have not been good experiences. The most recent visit: Coffee was very weak with the French press. I waited for quite some time and not one person came into the back room area. When I went up the front, four waitresses were standing around talking. I asked for a regular coffee and it was not much better. When I got my beef tortiere it was totally cold in the middle. They took so long to bring another one that our table was done eating. I hate being the last to eat and everyone watches you. To make it up, they brought me a plate of hash browns. They better pick up their game next time or I'm done here. One more try, since I'm loyal....
Service was actually very good. Had the beef bourguignon, beef was way too fatty and a little chewy. Poor quality beef. But otherwise pretty tasty. Didn't eat all the beef.
Phenomenal food, excellent atmosphere and all around an amazing experience! I wish I could have had a full meal there, however the appetizers and desserts were FANTASTIC. The staff were polite and accommodating, quick on the wit, all around amazing.
I come here a few times a month for the last 3 years for their egg Benedict. The smoked salmon is really good and great hollandaise sauce. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because, in the last year, the quality seems to be inconsistent on their smoked salmon. We've asked the staff and the reason seems to be a combination of different chefs or the way the smoked salmon was prepared that week.
I have gone there on three separate occasions. The first was for breakfast but because it was 12 o’clock, we were too late for that – fair enough. The next time we went was at 2:15. The door was still unlocked and the “Open” sign still on – we were informed they close at 2. The last time I went was for an advertised “Sunday brunch” as seen on a sign on the restaurant. When inquiring about the special, they informed us that “it’s a fake sign to bring people in”. I will not be going back there....ever.
The wait staff were awesome. Delivery of dinner was a bit slow at our table. We were a group of 38, so some delay is to be expected. The menu was limited just for us, but all items were very good.
I love Promenade Café and Wine! Everything I’ve had there - from brunch to lunch to dessert - has all been delicious. One of the things that I love particularly is the care that they take to source and highlight local products. Not only is the food amazing - the staff and service is always top notch. Promenade Cafe and Wine is somewhere I recommend all the time to people looking for a great restaurant spot. Oh - and did I mention the view? ????
I ordered the Mediterranean eggs and my boyfriend got the Promenade breakfast. To be honest the food quality isn't good, I felt kinda disappointed. The tomato start off warm but then when you keep eating it becomes salty. My boyfriend's scrambled eggs are moderately burnt and it tasted bland. The environment of the restaurant is nice and my maple macchiato is yummy as well, that's why it got two stars from me.
Great food and great service for moderate prices. The manager cares alotabout his business and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. Menu in French and English. Been here for breakfast lunch, and dinner and each one has been great.
We hosted our 2019 Office Holiday Party at Cafe Promenade, and glad to say everyone really enjoyed. The staff was excellent and accommodating, the pre planning of the event was very thorough, and they were very well equipped to deal with our last minute requests and changes. The food was great, and the ambiance was lovely. They set the tone and got the mood right for our event. Thanks again!
I had a wonderful meal here, everything was very tasty. Wait for food was a little long but they managed to keep the wine filled up so it was alright! Thanks for the lovely evening.
We liked this place. Tried the Benedict and crepe, both were tasty. Service was very pleasant. You can have a nice view of the pedestrian bridge, Canadian museum for human rights, downtown Winnipeg and the river from this cafe.
We came here after waiting for far too long to be sat at Chaise down the street. We were sat here right away and were promptly brought water and out drinks. And even after the Red River "on ice" I requested didn't turn out, our server brought me a new one. Food was incredible (tourtière is amazing and the gf enjoyed her veggie Benedict) as well! Will definitely be back. If you're stuck between Chaise and here, this is your obvious winner.
Amazing food here,I always come here every Sunday for brunch. The waitresses/waiters can all speak french so if tu voulez practque ton fançais, tu droit allez ici!
Great mussels! Great fresh bread to soak up the sauce is a must. I usually start with Dessert and coffee
Stopped in with my husband for a coffee and dessert. WOW! What a fabulous quaint restaurant. The dessert was absolutely amazing! We will definitely be back!
It is a enjoyable dinning experience. The food are great and the price is fairly enough. You better make a reservation as if it is quite hot spot .
Great service! Great food, great drinks, great view of the beautiful scenery outside, overall my guest and I were very pleased with our experience thank you Promenade
Wonderful atmosphere, great views of the river, the forks, and CHRM. Went for breakfast and was not disappointed. French toast was average, but their made in house compote was wonderful made up for the less than stellar toast. They make their own sausages in house and I would highly recommend. A little bit of a pain to get to right now because of some roadwork that prevents you from getting in from Provencher. Can't hold that against them though.
French restaurant just across the river from the Human Rights museum. Great eggs Benedict- especially loved the ham. Excellent croissants and crepes as well. Highly recommend for breakfast.
