You will be able to see the opinions of people who used the products of Socrates Restaurant (Catering) in the territory of Saint Albert (Canada).
At this moment the firm has a rating of 4.3 stars out of 5 and the score was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an reviews average is really high, and it's founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the assessment is quite credible. If there are many people who bothered to give their score when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to give tatings when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

All tables were full so we left our names and sat down to wait by the main counter. A couple minutes later, another party of two came in after us, and wrote their names on the wait list below us. 10 ish minutes later, a hostess called and took them to a table. I got up and looked at the list, and they'd skipped us. I calmly told another employee, Shannon, that we were first. She said "it wasn't me". I said " OK, but we were first..." and she said "who was it?" We pointed out the girl. She said "OK, sorry but what do you want me to do, those people are already sitting down". I said " OK, just make sure we're next please..." we got seated a while after. I was disappointed not that a mistake was made, but NOTHING was offered to make it better. Not a complimentary side or drink or really even genuine apology. Food was good, not great. Wait time for food was good. Staff could use some improvement. I work in customer service too, and mistakes happen! But please apologize, and if a customer is inconvenienced, do something to make up for it.
Look at this delicious low-carb masterpiece! Tasty grilled chicken, crunchy almonds, succulent blueberries, fragrant feta cheese, and a delicious poppyseed dressing. Delightful!
Cobb salad was superb, service was above average. Menu has large selection.
Pretty good. Food was pretty good. Service was pretty good. Solid 4. Bring the family. Have some of your favorite comfort food.
Great breakfast place. My kids eat love the omlettes and potatoes here.
Decent food, big menu, friendly staff. Service was prompt considering we were a large group and it was busy.
Went before 10am and got a seat right away. Started getting busy a quarter after 10am. Breakfast was very good, servings were large and service was very good.
Friendly staff and breakfast came fast!!
Had the Fried Chicken Sandwich was very good. Friendly staff.
I loved this restaurant! The staff was so friendly and the portion sizes are great especially for the price. I ordered the eggs Benny, I couldn’t even eat the entire thing. I definitely recommend this spot while in St. Albert (:
Excellent food. Great selection. Liver and onions were terrific Going to become a regular for sure
This has been my go to breakfast places for over 10 years. I have never been let down by there services or the food. Now this is my 5 years old favorite breakfast and over all restaurant to go too. The even made her spinkle pancakes for her 5th bday. Thank you, Socrates for be so great.
I haven't been here in a million years. Hasn't seemed to have aged, and the menu still sits right. Had a great traditional breakfast, and the server was on fire! Never had to wait, read my mind before I knew what I needed. Thank you!
This restaurant is funny they have good food, good service but they are dirty the last three times I have gone here I have received dirty cutlery, dirty coffee cups and a dirty plate ? Why ? buy a real dishwasher and hire proper dishwashing staff and clean the bathrooms.
Amazing staff. Breakfast was just so so. Nothing too special and a little pricy.
Family restaurant with something for everyone. The entree options include burgers, salads, sandwiches, pasta, Mediterranean and breakfast food and some fairly common appetizer choices (like nachos). The portion sizes are also quite large. The salads do come with a large amount of dressing.
Food is great staff friendly and attentive. Place is always busy a testimony to the quality of your dining experience. Only draw back parking lot not so good.
Great little restaurant and given how busy it is on weekend mornings, a favorite of St Albert! Was not a big fan of their coffee but menu had a lot of choice and food was pretty decent.
Love this place! They treat you like family. Food is always good. Lynn and the staff are great!
Good food but I don't like feeling rushed when I have breakfast on the weekend.
A popular spot for breakfast and brunch. The service is efficient and friendly and the food is familiar family comfort selections with the occasional pleasant variation. I loved the signature Eggs Benedict.
This place is awesome! My boyfriend and I like going on the off times when it's a bit quieter, but even when it's busy, service is incredible and so fast. Definitely a favorite for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu is great with a good mix of classics and new twists on established favorites. Would recommend it to anyone for sure. :)
Always good food. Good service. Best breakfast in town!
The best breakfast spot in St. Albert hands down! Have been going consistently for the past few years and will keep coming back!
Five-minute wait to sit down in a half-empty restaurant in St. Albert on a Monday afternoon. Not just for us, but everyone who entered after is as well. 10 minutes to get our order taken. Same thing happened at every other table as well. Eventually we were served coffee that we ordered. Eventually out meal came. As you can expect it with soggy on the bottom. The server was polite but that didn't matter at this point. It was a pretty arduous process.
Food is always good here and quick even when busy. The staff can be a bit stuffy sometimes but not directly rude
Highly recommend. IMO one of the best breakfast restaurant in St Albert.
This place was absolutely AMAZING! The urban feel and cozy environment are so inviting and the servers are quick and friendly. Food was out quickly and was delectable! Portions were big and it's a little on the pricier side but it is more than worth it. Safe to say I will be a frequent customer as this was the best breakfast I have had in a long time! (In photo: Eggs in a Nest)
Great seniors breakfasts. I go there often. Can get pretty busy on weekends.
Food was good. I felt the portion sizes were a little small for the price. Place looked clean and had friendly staff
Best fried chicken sandwich in Edmonton. Large portions and fantastic service. Highly recommended.
Big juicy burgers, great price, good service. Highly recommend!
Love the breakfast menu, with so many options, great staff, and good food.
Pretty awesome food, good personable staff, good atmosphere.
Great breakfast. Always busy but the girls keep calm and work hard.
Went there for breakfast. My goodness gracious their eggs Benedict are to die for. Let me tell you, I lived a quiet life already before the lockdowns, so I don't miss much of going places or doing things. But I miss one thing so much I dream about it. I miss breakfast here at this restaurant. What have you done to me? haha Whoever thought of adding avocado to the eggs benedict breakfast plate needs to have an award. I want to go back for more so bad!
Normally a great place to get a meal but this time I was disappointed. Beef dip was good but fries were quite undercooked and soggy
I always enjoy socrates, food is always fantastic. I didnt like that the servers assume you can use the QR codes to look up a menu though. I get the need due to covid, however I was there to have lunch with my daughter not sit on my phone to figure things out on it to make my order. Found it kind of rushed and rude. A choice should be offered to customers.
Prices are bit high. Food was OK Service was good / Friendly I would eat their again.
The breakfast is very good and the omelets are especially tasty. You feel at ease sitting down and enjoying an hour in the morning here.
Why does a French Toast sandwich have three peices of French toast. And apparently it's not a good idea to put syrup on it and then pick it up. I learned that the hard way.
Excellent food and service. The portions were a great size. Thanks for the great experience.
We went to Socrates for brunch after visiting the Farmers Market today (Saturday). Because we eat Keto/ Low Carb, we ordered an omelette with some Caesar salad instead of the accompanying toast and hash browns or pancakes. We were told we’d be charged for a Caesar salad because it comes in a big bowl. When we explained we didn’t want an entire order, just a bit, we were told there’d be a 3-4$ upcharge so we asked for just some lettuce, but were told there’d be an upcharge so wesaid to just serve the omelette on it’s own. I provided the waitress with my allergy list. Then the manager came to our table to say they were “too busy” to clean a cutting board to make sure there was no cross contamination. She said I should call ahead if I want to eat there so she can tell me when it’s a good time to come! Apparently the chef had no ability to scramble eggs in a clean bowl and add some torn spinach and crumbled bacon. So we left and went to Toast where it was also very busy, where I ordered the same thing and it was served without squabbles and without the manager coming out to say they were too busy to accommodate someone with allergies!
Big breakfasts. Have been going for years with friends. Always sooo tasty. Good value for money. These guys are great.
Really good place! Tons of creative breakfast options, great portions and our server was great. The food was delicious- we didn't get anything complicated but it was all done very well. Highly recommend for a great brunch.
HOLY SOCRATES!!! This place is much more than I expected. It was a full house and we were still seated within 10 minutes. Our waitress Emily, aka "The Irish" was incredible. She is very upbeat, polite and noticed everything before I even asked. Don't hesitate to try this place just go!
Socrates is like going home for breakfast. I've grown up coming here and I continue to bring friends with me. Its the perfect small town diner feel to make you feel right at home.
Overpriced ( $25.00 ) mediocre breakfast.. large (8) groups have tips added automatically to the bill and wait staff do not advise this to patrons as they pay. Many better choices available in this city.
Great food, excellent service, and friendly staff. Honestly there's nothing more you could want.
Socrates is a solid 4 star restaurant focusing on breakfast that also has tasty lunch and dinner options. It is always busy, we never wait long and the food is worth the price. The coffee is good. Service is fast, wait staff keep the cups full, takes away plates fast.
Food is good. Some items a bit overpriced. They are changing their menu so the item I wanted was on the website but not in store so be warned.
Fast and friendly staff, spent extra time with the kids made them feel important, good size portions for the money
Breakfast
Great food and service. Clean and quiet. Definitely will be going back.
Ye old reliable.. it's exactly what you expect, food is good, I haven't had any issues. Good atmosphere with friendly staff. They can get busy on certain days.
I ordered two of the Chicken Souvlaki platters for the Green Grove Dental Office and they were OUTSTANDING! The portions were very generous. Most places say feeds 4 but actually feeds 2; not here; we had plenty of leftovers ordering 2 platters for 8 people. You made me shine and I am now the lunch ordering star of the office and have been designated the lunch organizer going forward. LOL Truly fabulous food & the presentation was amazing too! Thank you so much Socrates!
Good but not great. I ordered the full lasagna and a vodka water. The waitress didn't know how to make a vodka water so I provided her step by step instructions (Fill short glass with ice, add 1oz vodka, fill remainder of glass with water, garnish with lime or lemon). Not gonna fault her with not knowing this as she may have been new and not a drinker. After waiting less than 10 minutes my colleagues and my meals arrived which seemed rather quick for a full lasagna. Needless to say I was not very satisfied with this supposed "Lasagna" as it was just a whole lot of wet noodles with little to no sause. I don't know about you but I expect my lasagna to be a rich and thick meaty sause full of cheese and if possible cottage or ricotta cheese in the middle. My colleague eventually caught the attention of our server and I informed her of my disappointment of this meal and she apologetically took it back to the kitchen. After maybe another 20 minutes i get their redo which did have a lot more tomatoes sauce but still almost no meat if any at all. I appreciate the effort to make the lasagna more appealing but I would not order again. P.S. I did eat the whole thing so it wasn't gross, just not what I expected in a lasagne. (FYI-MY colleague ordered steak & eggs with hash browns that looked good that he confirmed was quite tasty).
really enjoy the food at this place- always a reliable choice for lunch and dinner
I came here with my dad and it was amazing. The food was great and the lady helping us, Yvonne was sooo friendly and nice. My dad loves to make dad jokes and sometimes people are not nice to him, but Yvonne was so kind and even joked back to him in a very respectful way. She made us smile and we started the day with a great breakfast and a smile in our faces. I would come back and recommend to anyone!
Stood inside the door being ignored for a while. Then 4 differnet servers told us someone would be right with us, while they talked amongst themselves and scraped dishes. 3 other parties piled up behind us. Then when a sever finally came to assist it was just to take everyone's names. There were multiple empty tables clean and available. Finally got seated and the prices seemed quite high for what we saw coming out of the kitchen. We left. Coming from the service industry we were quite disappointed.
The burger I got was terrible. Somewhat small overall, rock hard bun, and a dry, tasteless patty, all for the price of $17. Only reason i'm rating 2 stars is because everyone else at the table enjoyed their food, which mainly consisted of lasagna.
We came for breakfast.....service was friendly and prompt. Food was cooked perfectly and served hot. This was our first visit and definitely won't be our last.
I was very interested to go for breakfast at Socrates. I've heard good things about the food. The service was great and the atmosphere was typical Canadian breakfast restaurant. The food is very typical to good Canadian breakfast houses. This would fall on a traditional favorite for me. I would recommend this restaurant for those seeking a Canadian breakfast for a good price tag.
SOCRATES RESTAURANT ST ALBERT THE worse meal I have had . I ordered a senior turkey dinner. Instead of slices of turkey, they must have scraped the leftover turkey on the bone and got maybe a tablespoon of turkey hidden under the stuffing. I’d say it was a couple of tsps of stuffing on top. I looked under the stuffing and there was a piece of dried skin of white turkey. It is expensive as I paid extra fir white meat which cost me $14.00! I should have said something but I was the one to my friends let’s try Socrates so I was embarrassed and didn’t say anything. I crossed out Socrates as we were all disappointed in our meal. I phoned the Manager and told her how bad the meal was. She told me that I should have told the waitress so there’s nothing she can do. She said people try to have a free meal when they complain . I told her I do not expect a free meal and just want to tell you that I was disappointed in the meal. She said I am critizing her restaurant . I told her that I just disappointed for the quality of the food and would not go back again
Socrates restaurant is a true staple in st.alberts history as it has been around for longer than most of us. It is a very well run place by amazing management and staff. The food is amazing and they by far have one of the best breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Great service and great food is what everyone looks for and you can get it here. The reason I have given four stars is that the table we were brought to was dirty and the seats were not clean as well. The floors had debris from past food as well. The interior of the place is very modern but the exterior is very outdated and brings the place down. Overall great place to go to with family to enjoy a meal.
Excellent food, great service. Odd hours and very busy but well worth it.
Most of the time great food although last visit the homemade burger was very small and way over cooked. Staff is friendly and food is ready in a reasonable time
Great food, giant portions, quick service! Reasonable prices in comparison to Ricky's or Denny's.
Great food, service can be slow, just because of huge crowds. I'd avoid busy hours if you're not looking for somewhere crowded.
Always friendly service, and good food!
Service
Our waitress was fantastic!!! The food was very good, their Belgian waffles are delicious ????
Excellent service here. The shredded hashbrowns are better than the square. The Benny's are amaaazing! Some of the best brunch in st albert. Way better than coras for the price.
Consistent brunch spot for our family. We have been going for brunch here for ten years now. Always a good experience. Staff are friendly and prompt. There are always customers here, but it's a quick in and out on a weekday. Weekends get really busy though, wait time for a table can be half an hour if you go around 10:30-11:00 on Sunday.
Best breakfast. Will be back
Socrates is a fine home cooked style restaurant perfect for all ages and occasions! They feature all sorts of menu items ranging from kids breakfasts, to an alcoholic dinner. It is a very calm and “elderly” place but it is suitable for everyone. If you wish to travel back in time about 10 years or so, maybe a little more, I would definitely recommend Socrates. Dates are a PERFECT option the females will love the older fashion home cooked style. Its also perfect for Grandmas or Grandpas birthday! Such a warm and friendly place to be. Some staff do act and seem like they don’t like working there, yet other staff seem very enthusiastic and careful for their customers they will be serving.
It was much better then expected. The service was friendly and the food was good. It is a family restaurant and much better than Ricky's All Day Grill or Cora's
Good food, must be new owners as before i would have said to stay away... Lack of disabled parking for wheelchair vehicles.
Awesome service and great food as well as a good feeling atmosphere to the decor of the place, would definitely reccomend for a nice meal
Good food. Our waitress was great!
Great restuarant!! Friendly staff
Waited 20 minutes before service. We could over hear the head server/manger try and delegate someone to come and serve our table but we waited 20 minutes before the head server herself had to come and take our order. Food was subpar at best They didn't have enough cups and didn't get our utensils for 5 mins after our food was brought out. Honestly just go else where for breakfast/lunch.
Socrates is a nice little restaurant sitting off of St Albert trail. Its not a large place so it always seems busy and full of customers. The staff are friendly and the wait times are not long. The menu is very extensive with lots of choice. The breakfast we enjoyed was good and I would compare it to a Smitty's or Denny's. The portions were plentiful. I would go there again.
Eggs Benedict was a disappointment. Shredded hash browns are shoe string french fries. The server was really nice though. Coffee was not good at all.
We all ordered individual thanksgiving dinners from this place and they were phenomenal!
Very busy when we were there. Great breakfast with great service
I am giving a one star only because zero was not an option. Zero is the service I received. Website states open until 9pm, called at 1:45pm to order #4 special pizza for birthday party today and was told no, call back tomorrow as not enough business and they are closing down for the day shortly.
I've been going here for years, this place used to be good. Unfortunately service is now terrible, and the servers are extremely rude and don't deal with mistakes well. Food is good, well served. Will not be returning anymore.
Negative experience during our most recent visit however the previous visits made up for them. I've been here with my mom and with our aging family friend on a couple of occasions. Very good food, decent portions. However, last time we were here a group of your young servers were being obnoxiously loud, gossiping about personal matters in front of the desk. We had to ask for water refills which is a no-brainer in the hospitality business especially if everyone at the table has empty glasses. I gave a 5 star rating because I enjoy the food and the older server is quite competent in both of the cases we came, however it is not a nice experience to hear teenagers gossiping, and underhandedly bullying people. I literally heard the group of them insulting a girls looks, in a crude and underhanded way in their conversation. Not cool. Especially not in front of customers.
Nice place to have breakfast. Staff were polite and quick. There's lots of parking and food was good.
We love the food and absolutely admire the staff. Their Nutella pancakes with bananas and strawberries are my favorites. Good people, good food. This place is a win win.
Rude, outrageously slow service. Terrible coffee. Mediocre food. Not worth your time or money.
Very good food. Following all protocols & staying safe. Gluten free options. Large menu.
The staff are very good and the food is like the home cooked meal that mom would make back in the day. I think that you need to try it for your self then reading what people that are putting bad stuff about this great place.
Parking lot is the only draw back to this place. Good food, great service, great price.
Great for breakfast, employees seem they enjoy their job which is a plus when your a paying customer. However diner menu could use some work and alterations.
As a mom with a severely immune compromised family, Socrates often provides us family pick up meals that I truly appreciate. We don’t get to get out much due to the pandemic, but Socrates takes a lot of stress off of me the days I don’t have the time or energy to cook.
Decided to check this place out after hearing great things about it from a friend. I don't frequent St. Albert enough to get a feel for the food scene, but there are definitely a few hidden gems that St. Albert has to offer. This place definitely being one of them. Place is nice and inviting and the staff were friendly. Played it safe with the food and decided to order the Socrates omelette with a side of french toast. The omelette was cooked nicely and the french toast was delicious. Would definitely recommend checking this place out, and for sure I will be coming back to try their other food options.
I was very disappointed in this place. I always see cars here so I assumed it was going to be better than it was. I ordered the 3 eggs and 3 meats. Both the wife and I asked for our eggs to be done 'over medium'. They weren't even over easy. The whites were still uncooked which is very unpleasant. The bacon was okay, the sausage was pretty gross. It had a very lard-like texture and very little flavor and the ham was just a cheap slice of a cottage roll. Everything was VERY low quality. Its too bad. Breakfast should be easy.
A nice restaurant with good covid protocol in effect. Staff were very good and food was very good as well and served pretty fast. Highly recommended by this guy!!!
I've driven past Socrates for decades, but it wasn't until I reconnected with a good friend from junior high school that I actually tried this restaurant. I've been more than twice now, and I'm very happy to return often. The food is very good, and today, even though it was a lighter breakfast, it was well prepared and tasted great. Keep up the great work folks!
Have been to Socrates twice now for brunch and enjoyed it both times. Had previously driven by it many times but never gone in, sad I missed out for so long! Both times I've been it was very busy, plan to come early to get a table or you may be waiting. Food is tasty and comes out reasonably fast, although it can be a little slow if it's really busy. Otherwise wait staff are friendly and attentive, and the menu offers a range of options. Food is priced appropriately, it's reasonable for what it is and not too expensive. Definitely recommend it, will be back again in the future!
Everything was on point. The Socrates Classic is amazing and everything was perfect from the toast to the eggs Benedict. I wouldn't be able to find something to complain about if I tried.
We really enjoyed our meals, and the portion size is very agreeable for hungry people.
This restaurant has the most relaxed servers which is nice to see and we just love bringing our family in here for meals!.. Great Food!!????
Best breakfast I have, 2 or 3 times per month. Advise everyone to go.????
The Socrates Signature Burger is the Best! Lots of burger and easy on price too! Highly Recommend! ????
The food is always good and prompt. Don't bother past 9:30 on weekends. It gets crowded!
The staff are very professional & helping for deciding what to order. The food was delivered to our table fast & the food is outstanding! Everyone I bring with me to the restaurant always loves it & leaves with a full belly. I love this place & I love the people there just as much! Would give a million stars if I could :)
Received a family meal from Socrates at Christmas and mother's day through their donation to the Kaleo Collective charity. The lasagna is delicious, so full of flavor even the kids had second helpings! Thank you Socrates for helping make a difference for us single moms and our kids
Friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere. Nice place for simple breakfast options.
Typical family style restaurant. Excellent food, average settings and a staff that busts their butt.
they changed the menu i personally liked the greek food but i guess thats not in the menu anymore.
Great food for breakfast, reasonable prices and awesome service. Busy on the weekends
We got the pickup special lasagna for 6 tonight and I can't remember the last time we were that impressed with takeout food from anywhere. The lasagna was HUGE- they aren't kidding when they say it feeds 6-8 people. The salad was fresh and well put together and the breadsticks were perfect. The amount of food you get for only $35 blew me away. If you are feeding a big family this is by far your cheapes option. The Lasagna itself was perfectly cooked and really tasty. It definately ranks with some of the best lasagna I've ever had anywhere. I called and ordered this 20 minutes before closing and even though it says on their website they want an hours notice they said no problem, and they had it ready FAST. A big thanks to the staff at Socrates for going the extra mile, we will definately be back for more!
After being seated a waitress took my order. I received a starter salad and patiently waited close to an hour for my main course. The waitress came to my table and asked if she had ever brought the starter salad to my table. She seemed to have forgotten bringing it. I stated that I ate it an hour ago but was still waiting for the main course. After checking with the kitchen she stated they were extremely busy but my order was almost ready. The restaurant was at about 50% capacity and what actually happened is she forgot to give the kitchen my order. Finally when a meal was delivered to my table it was not what I ordered. At this stage I was somewhat upset and asked to see the manager. I was told this would not be possible as he was extremely busy in the kitchen. After I insisted he arrived arrived and listened to my complaint. He did not offer a solution.I indicated that although I ate the salad I was leaving. The manager indicated that was my choice and he did not seem to care. To bad I cannot leave this restaurant with a zero star rating. I eat out quite a bit and this was my worst experience in over ten years.
Good food, great service!
I had breakfast here a couple of times and it was quite good. the place always seems busy.
I've been hearing good things about this place so here I am sitting at the table... so far so good, friendly, and on the ball with the coffee and the order
Great food however service is usually pretty slow. If your not in a rush it is worth the wait!
The food was pretty good, other than the fries being extremely greasy. But I don't understand why its called Socrates (which sounds like Greek food), when the menu is mostly American style food. And when you go inside the décor looks Japanese, but the girls are wearing old style diner clothes.
Very friendly not commercialized resturant. Good for any meal. Clean well laid out area. Large booths for bigger groups or push tables together and get even more people in one group. Access to parking lot is easy from both north and south. Can only exit to the south tho (legally). Motel next door is cheap but clean (good for crew workers)
Decent service. A little expensive for what you get but the quality of the breakfast choices is very tasty. Had to send my soft poached eggs back for a redo but the properly done ones were there in less than a minute. Parking is tight but overall a good place for breakfast. Service got the job done but was not great and it does take a while for your order to get processed even at 11 on a Tuesday/.
Went here on Sunday morning, hungover and wanting good food. Was not disappointed. Not only was the food amazing, our server went above and beyond. She was a younger, taller blonde and I wish I could remember her name so I could give her more praise. By far some of the best service I've had in ages !!
Food came cold unfortunately but was fairly good. Prices are slightly higher then your average but quality is higher.
We ordered Christmas dinner for six of us. Picked it up Christmas Eve. There was so much food and it was simply delicious. Plus there was enough for leftovers and doggy bags. Thank you Socrates! Will definitely order again next Christmas!
First time back here since renovations and wow what a nice refreshing feel. Super friendly and talkative staff paired with hot tastey food make this spot a perfect lunch/dinner stop!
Service exceptional! Bubbly personality attentive to detail, went for a light lunch? Left feeling full, big portions for seniors menu, good value, fresh ingredients, veggies were delicious!
Great homemade food and flavor's. Nice new clean decor. Many of the same long time friendly staff.
Waitress walked by and stated we would have to wait as she was by herself. There was 7 tables of people. Waited a couple of minutes then sat down. She looked at us probably 4 times in passing. Waited another 10 minutes with no coffee, hi, kiss my butt.... thanks for the dirt sandwich....won't grace the place again. A waste of time. It takes 3 seconds to say, "grab a seat ladies" and 30 seconds more to pour a coffee.
2nd time in 10 years to try this restaurant....updated decor but no specials, limited menu, unimaginative selection and high prices. Waited for service. Finally left and went somewhere else. Won't be back.
Had their takeout breakfast. Great food!
Staff were very polite and personal. Good was very good. Service was very good even though they were at capacity.
Meal type
Always fresh hot tasty meals. Kitchen staff and the waitresses both know there job inside and out good home cooked meals that fill you up. Good prices as well definatly worth the visit.
Great service, excellent food. Took good care of the kids for drinks and picky food requests. The staff here are great!
the food was delicious as always!! we had a big table of about 12 and the service was good and they handled it well and got us seated in a timely fashion for a big group at breakfast. on the ball with refills of coffee and water too! favourite breakfast spot in St.Albert.
Great food at great price. Had to wait for a table but that is the sign of a good restaurant.
Always excellent food and service. I live in ft Mac but if I'm anywhere near I drop everything and eat there. Every time I wish I'd called ahead to get one of the takeout meals.
Good breakfast place for a large group. Very attentive staff.
Haven't been there in over a year and must say we were very pleased with how much faster the service and food was! Shredded hasbrowns are not great.
Simple take out diner ordered. Courteous on the phone, in person and food was great with huge portions. I have ordered here a few times and the friendly staff experience continues to repeat. Will come back for sure!
Very good food and service. Would of done 5 stars but have to give them something to work for.
I love Socrates. Great breakfast. Their dinner menu is also full of stick to your ribs classics. Everything tastes like it's made fresh there. Service has always been excellent. I just wish it was closer to home
Big fan, probably come by again if I'm in the area. Staff was great and the food was pretty good too. I'm a little biased to the home town but definitely recommend this one.
This is a cute restaurant with a long history in St. Albert. The Server was really nice and helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the pasta dish that I ordered. I ordered a pan of lasagne to go with the intention of having it for dinner. It was enough to feed probably 8 people with bread sticks and Caesar salad. The only issues were that they added the dressing to the salad in the kitchen and the lettuce was thoroughly wilted by the time I got back to Edmonton and served it to my family about 1 hour later. We also found the lasagne to be unpalatable: it was bland and really lacking in tomato sauce. No one in my family finished their serving and we threw out everything except the bread sticks. This was an odd experience since we love lasagne and eat it often in restaurants and even from the frozen food section at our local grocery store.
The best food in the whole city, and Lynn is the most amazing person alive. The chefs are incredible at what they do and I appreciate all the hard work the owners put into this place. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely love this place..... The service is excellent and the food even better. Every experience we had here was a good one to remember. The staff is always friendly and makes us feel welcome.
The whole menu is great. I highly recommend the Monte Cristo
This was the first time I have sent food back to the kitchen. This was also the first time I have been stuck with the bill after sending food back to the kitchen.
Went with my husband for the first time. The service was great and food definitely good. Very pleasant staff and clean restaurant
Good food as always but 3 stars only because they have got to be the most expensive place in town for breakfast in this class. Won't be going back until I hear they're prices have gone down. For example, a comparable meal at rickies would go for 2 to 5 dollars less.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Lots of food for the prices, great selection! I have never been disappointed! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner! (All day breakfast menu) fast service!!
I love this place! We ordered pick up for New Years and it was so good! The plates were fresh and hot very impressed really enjoyed the new dishes specifically the scallops in the cream sauce. Also the short rib. Actually everything. See you soon!
Good food and great service.
Great food, waitress was good but a little bit of an edgy attitude.
Amazing food! Great coffee and a really nice environment for a family breakfast!
Food is amazing, came out quickly and there was quite a bit for the price. It tends to get busy for brunch, so the staff have a bit less time go stop at tables.
Delicious food & great service. Never disappointed.
I have been driving by this place for many years. Friends have recommend them previously so I finally stopped by. What a great decision! I ordered the pork souvlaki and it was tremendous! The restaurant was clean and shiny with excellent friendly service. There were a number of other interesting menu items so I will definitely be back.
Good breakfast and very nice wait staff.
Good food, strong coffee, but my first cup had lipstick, I was given a clean cup, with good service. They do need to learn the definition of shredded. They passed these greasy julienned fries off as shredded hash browns. So disappointed today, but she did comp our whole meal
I really enjoy this place. They have really nice staff that serve excellent food. I've only eaten their dinner items twice but their breakfast selection is awesome. This place excels at breakfasts, but the coffee isn't anything special.
i love the atmosphere of this restaurant. its very warm and inviting. the waitress we had was happy to serve us and greeted us right away! she even made a paralyser for my mom just because it was her birthday! wish i could remember the waitresses name, such a sweetheart!
Amazing..always is amazing service and breakfast..we go alot and I highly recommend it. ????
Like usual I enjoyed it just fine through the past few months quality of food isn't as good as it used to be and way overpriced specially for omelettes paying $18 an omelette you're the most expensive breakfast place in st. Albert doesn't justify the quality of the product you're getting overcooked greasy shredded potatoes aren't shredded there more like Hickory Sticks over seasoned dry Decor atmosphere much cleaner looks nice the best part of it all is the service Emily is absolutely amazing bubbly great personality always on top of everything a great pleasure I will definitely come back not for the food but for the service coffee is very weak
Very nice, polite people working there. Hash browns were a little stail. But it was a late breakfast. Would go again
Staff are friendly and the food is fantastic! I haven't a bad meal or experience yet.
was a truly nice experience loved the food enjoyed the waiters had a nice place well designed and keepèt. wanting to go get some more salad key pointer their peace.
Food was excellent & wait staff were all friendly and attentive while not being overzealous. Would definately return again if the chance comes up!
Do not go here !!! Awful service, food was cold, and it took FOREVER to arrive. Never coming back.
They know how to cook a steak properly! Good service. Prices are a little high, but same as similar restaurants.
My wife and I went to Socrates at about 1:30 pm for lunch. Their were only a few people so no rush. Coffee was provided immediately but the wait for lunch about 20min. My wife’s meal came with a side of soup. She ate a couple of spoons then ate a bit of the main meal. When she returned to the soup she thoughtful there was an eye lash in it but when she removed it, it was about a 4 inch black hair. Gross. We pointed it out to the waiter who was quite revolted about it. Offered my wife another soup(ugg) or side. She declined and the waitress apologized and took the soup away. Later when she brought the bill she said she had waived the cost of my wife’s coffee. I the went up to the counter to pay and told the waitress that it wasn’t her fault and politely suggested the least they could do would be to waive the cost of the meal. She was not pleased with this so I said I would like to talk to management to which she grudgingly added the coffee back on and waive the one meal cost. From that vantage point I could see into the kitchen and saw three cooks all with black hair one with a cap and two with no hairnet or any protection. The meals were a little expensive for a simple lunch and were quite bland. Needless to say we will not return to this establishment and will ensure our friends know the reason why. Revolting.
The breakfast meals haven't changed. Nothing but the best.
I sort of wish that, during the 10-or-so minutes we waited for a table, they would have just told us to leave because they would rather not serve a table of 7 -- because once we were seated, it immediately felt like they did not want to serve us. I don't appreciate being made to feel like a server's bad day is my fault. There were a couple smaller groups waiting too even though there were enough empty tables for everyone. I think that means the place was understaffed -- and on a Sunday at noon! Ouch. Is that management's fault? Did a server not show up? I guess I can see how a big table would be pretty annoying for a server who was already handling too many tables. But right away, the server made us feel like we had done something wrong simply by showing up and wanting food. That's weird, right? I don't think that's how you're supposed to feel at a restaurant. The service was rude and kind of confusing. They asked us if we wanted water, but when we said yes we only received one. When ordering, our server refused additions on one order, but tried to up-sell those same additions on another. That's was confusing. It's not totally weird for a restaurant to decline modifications, but I saw no need for our server to be flat-out rude about it. After ordering, we asked again for water and they complained about how the glasses were heavy. We eventually got some water plunked down and were told to pass it around to ourselves. Again, I guess that's not weird, but the server somehow made it rude. I kept saying please and thank-you, trying to be cheerful, trying to ignore our server's weird attitude. Yeesh, walking on eggshells just to order some eggs. Then things got worse, and it wasn't even the restaurants fault really: the weird service just got my friends into this whole complainy discussion about food service and how servers should and shouldn't act and tipping and blah blah blah. Man, I just wanted some grease and to have some smile-time friendly chats. But every time our server came round, they did something condescending or confusing that got my friends grumbling again. You know, maybe our server could hear some of that, and it made them feel unappreciated or think "well great, I'm a little slow with the water and now these jerks won't tip". Maybe that explains the server's rudeness. But then again, the server didn't pay us much attention, and the place was too busy for them to hear. And if I can tell you one thing, it's that the server's rudeness did precede my friends' grumbling. (Yeesh, sitting here, trying to assign blame and make excuses and sympathize with the server's weird attitude -- I just wanted some grease! I tried to be nice!) Foodwise, most of us were hoping for greasy-spoon and some of us were hoping for a little classier, but all the food was in this unfortunate middle ground. It was neither greasy nor classy. It was neither satisfying nor abhorrent. Everything was just a little too cold, a little too dry, a little too moist, a little too tough, a little too chewy... Except the gravy. The gravy was awesome.
The new renovations and classic staff make this better than any Coras, Ihop, or Denny's in town. My family will always come here for weekend breakfast!
A GREAT PLACE for breakfast! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff with a personality to match. Good tasteful food ans get your eggs done exactly the way you want. I recommend it anytime your in St Albert.located just off the Yellowhead.
