This being my first visit to Tandoor n Flame, earlier called Indian Flame at Red deer. The meal at the Restaurant’s Red Deer location was simply sumptuous. I added the cilantro to the maridande and marinated it and the result was simply perfect.

In am a foodie and I am proud of that! More so because I have been regular visitor in Restaurants Red Deer, my favorite place of eating out! The restaurant offers you the diverse Indian cuisines that will practically leave you drooling – especially if you are a gourmet like me. The restaurant is home to some of the best chefs that will provide you the real taste of India and its cuisines.

Soooooo good. I recommend in particular the Palak Paneer, and the Rogan Josh. Amazing. Friendly and quite funny on the phone when taking my pick-up orders.

Service was polite, but food was odd and tasted like it came out of a package or something. Definitely not the same deliciousness found at other East Indian restaurants in town. No kasuri methi in the butter chicken, no garam masala in the Daal, they both tasted mostly like campbells tomato soup. I might describe this place as "the McDonalds of East Indian" but the sad thing is you'll pay more for this unfortunate food than you would at a quality restaurant. Pleasant service though, so I'll give 2 stars for that.

I went last week. I walked in and there were rat droppings everywhere. The owner said "I bought them with me". I saw the owner wipe down cutlery with his dirty apron. Pretty sure that the owner ordered food from Indian Kitchen and tried to serve it as his own. Don't go here!!!!!! Worst place ever!

Disappointed. Used to go here more often, haven't been in months, went back and may not go again. There was ZERO chicken in the butter chicken poutine, and the regular butter chicken had substantially less in it as well. Don't know what's happened to this place. Not too impressed. Update: owener responded saying we were given "extra" chicken. This is incorrect. We were given TWO pieces. That is not the amount we used to get, not is it "extra."

I've updated this review to reflect my recent experience (takeout) because the buffet is not currently being served (and my review was many years ago). Oct 2021: We ordered takeout last night for my wife's birthday, and everything was AMAZING. We did 5 dishes plus samosas, rice and garlic naan, and everything was delicious and fresh! Quality and quantity were excellent, and even my two kids tried (and enjoyed) everything that we ordered. We all love spicy food, and agreed that ordering everything MEDIUM spicy was plenty hot for us; if you are unsure about how spicy you can handle, then just go with the MILD. Like I said, we LOVE heat.. and medium was great. We've never had a bad experience with this restaurant (food or service), and really hope that people continue to support them through this difficult time. They've also recently setup their own food app for ordering, due to the high percentage that services like Skip and Doordash take off of the top of the bill. Please consider ordering directly from them (or use their app) rather than one of the other services and lets make sure that we can continue to enjoy this great food for many years to come.

I wish i can gave zero stars to this place , we ordered quite a bit of food & all of it was precooked like a day before ,chicken kabab was same like cooked days before & than reheated & served , first kabab was burnt than sent back & was tolded what’s wrong with it than got the kebab again & its same burnt & feels like rubber , even they can’t get their salad correct as salad had spoiled green chilli , dal makhni was watery,chilli paneer had old coocked paneer which was just heated & than poured into hot gravy & served Waiter said sorry for the food but the arogant cook won’t stop praising himself of how good he cook For his kind information i told him cook a fresh sekh kebab & than cook one of his regular old reheated sekh kebab than eat both feel the difference Stay away from this place it only has indian/punjabi food but not the taste or quality as other restaurants have

Watched our meals get delivered to another table, who ate it, then got their order to go, on the house, for the mix up. We got our meals 20 minutes later, but were pleasantly surprised with a free sample desert for the trouble, buy 3 get one free.

The food here was phenomenal. The chicken was deliciously moist, the spice levels were true to the expectations of mild or medium. My son ordered the butter chicken as nut free (which is normally made with a cashew cream) and it was still delicious. Other family members ordered the pizza and we're pleased with that as well. The servers looked after us well and we're kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place! See for yourself. We'll be back for sure!!

Food was good...but they tried overcharging me. I asked for a receipt and busted them. They charged me for extra items - never going back! Update - I will not be taking my review back for the following reasons: 1.) The cashier did not apologize and looked annoyed that I had caught the mistake. So contrary to your claim below, there was never an apology. This is what annoyed me the most. 2.) Your condescending response. I am not asking for free food. Nor did I order food I didn't want. I'm simply asking that your restaurant charge people for the food they have ordered. Nothing more, nothing less. 3.) I am sharing MY experience with the restaurant as individuals are meant to do on this website.

Wayyy better than Astha! Soo Good! Just had this with the wife: Starter Veg samosas Aloo gobi Kahari mushroom - a bit of sweet and heat, delicious. Saffron rice Pulao. Rice Garlic naan bread All for around $40 and excellent service.

Don't go here. Bad service. The restaurant was nearly empty. There were two waiters on staff. We waited about 10 minutes for water then at least another 10 for anyone to check if we were ready to order. They seemed to be much more concerned with skip the dishes orders than customers who were in the restaurant. The waiter apologized profusely but kept up the bad service. The waiter carried water jugs around the place yet no one refilled our water. He brought our plates with his hand covered in curry and left a stain on the napkins and plates, and we had to ask for new plates and cutlery. The next plate I got had the same small curry stain on the edge. The food was decent but not worth the visit.

Man, I really only got dragged into going here by a friend, and didn't expect much, but it was great! The staff felt very comfortable around us customers, letting us eat comfortably without being in your face trying to be friendly. I'm no expert on Indian food, but it was all very quality-seeming to me. Much better than I expected, and I couldn't stop eating until I was in literal pain. I absolutely intend to go again, and you should, too.

We used to avoid this place like the plague ever since we went for dinner here 2 years ago. It was the under a different ownership and food was terrible. Under new management this restaurant seems to be doing well. It’s clean, there’s good service and menu has a lot of variety. They can cater to people choosing to eat halal - just let them know when ordering you’d like the halal meat. The chef came out to answer our questions about the menu and made some great suggestions. We ordered the beef kabab, lamb kadhai, saffron rice, butter naans and a mango shake to share. Portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. They have a tandoor and the naans were amazing because of that. You can adjust spice levels as per your taste. There’s no salad with the food though - usually a typical thing in Desi restaurants but it’s not a huge thing. The kababs were super yummy and on par with any good Desi restaurant in Calgary or Edmonton. Kadhai was decent too but I could have done with a little bit more spice - no fault of the chef though as we chose medium heat on that one. Saffron rice was nice and the naans were great. We visited on the 31st night around 8pm and the restaurant was totally empty as they close at 9pm. It was only us and a few the Skip the dishes orders but I can imagine the place getting super crowded at lunch time given the location and the buffet deal. We will be back for sure.

I highly recommend their food but I am so disappointed in their refusing the $50 gift card that on principle they've lost my business. I bought the gift certificate in October 2017 (the day of the Diwali buffet) because my family loves East Indian. I wanted the gift card on hand for when I don't have a lot of cash but still want to take home dinner for the kids after work. Instead, I wound up spending much more than I intended and out 50 bucks. When buying for my family I need to satisfy a vegan and a carnivore and this is one of those delightful places where I can actually do that. I bought three vegan dishes and two meat dishes, rice and veggie samosas. She talked me into the aloo golbi, which I was not fond of under the old management, and it is excellent! The chana masala was also delicious... I guess it's a good thing I bought so much food. I was happy to have my favourite East Indian food in Red Deer, I hope you get to enjoy it and that you receive better treatment. I'll just savor the leftovers and adjust to the idea of checking out the other East Indian restaurants.

it was my mom and dads 25 anniversary and they were not with me so I was low but I wanted to celebrate them so I just googled fine restaurants in red deer and this one was one of them. The atmosphere is decent and the server is excellent he is friendly and he explained me all the indegrients used in the food.I met the chef Bhagwaan Singh too and he displayed me the making of their bread which is traditionally called naan,its very great food and extremely fresh and the price is decent too...I love it ! and I recommend it strongly to people who want to taste authentic indian cuisine.

I live in a small town about an hr out of RedDeer for now but i have an extensive Indian food history. Problem is there is no Indian food where i live so i traveled to Red Deer specifically to this restaurant for Indian this day. It was a quaint little shop of a restaurant with Wednesday's being kind of slow I would imagine as i walked in. I sat down then went and got my plate that was kept warm so it was a good start. They had all kids of easy made meals at the buffet but only one staple, that being butter chicken. The butter chicken was ok but a tad sweet, as was most of their plates at the buffet. The chicken itself was fall apart but ultimately dry in the inside while the sauce was more sugary than savory. I was given the taste of a white processed sugar that was over done and not the subtle hint of a malt like brown sugar that works much better. They had a lamb masala dish that was well done so I had seconds of that. The other dishes were just different types of grilled veggie dishes that were particularly similar to each other and that's it. No staples that typically run a successful Indian food buffet. Like chicken tikki masala or palak paneer. Most every Indian food buffets serve Tandoori ckicken on the fly as a common, abut not here. That was very disappointing. The naan bread typically cooked in a Tandoori oven was cooked over a grill i am sure and thusly was burnt about 50 percent or more. Also the rice pudding was more of an instant than and low cook. Again, very disappointed. All in all I had a not as wanted meal. While i was glad to have Indian food in me, it was however disappointing.

The Chicken Tikka was juicy and succulent while the Kadhai Chicken and Dal Tadka with freshly made Tandoori Roti's made the meal memorable. When we mentioned that we were vegan, we had two of the staff going patiently going through each item letting us know what was vegan and what wasn't. Apparently, they will add a whole page to the menu just for vegans. Cool! The food was very tasty, but in some cases, rather oily. Excellent service, nice decor. I would definitely go again.

We love eating at Indian Flame. I like it because the food is always made fresh and each dish has a different flavor which reflects the diversity of each Indian district. My boyfriend loves the great customer service and they always make him the laacha (layered) parata. Its like a layered naan bread. Not on the menu but definitely worth a try!!!!

Just picked up a rice pudding and a chocolate kind of square dessert. It was a little different then what I am use to but if you have an open mind it goes a long way here if you are not use to this type of food. The food was great just different taste. Service on the phone was pleasant. Pickup at the location was terrific. Keep up the great work. Next time I come here...will be with my family.

The staff were friendly enough and the food was decent. My issues were that there didn't seem to be anyone dedicated as a server, so orders were taken quite slowly (as well as anything else you needed). Additionally, the restaurant's look wasn't very appealing. They could usefully redecorate the place. If those things were fixed, I would likely rate my experience as 5 stars.

Amazing food and next level customer service! I placed an order through Skip the Dishes and the wrong driver took my order. It was already past dinner time and I had a hungry toddler to feed with no dinner to give him. The restaurant contacted me way before Skip did. And after Skip the Dishes was no help in getting my food, the restaurant took it upon themselves to track down my food and then they delivered it to me personally, free of charge. On top of that, the food was delicious and very well priced. These are the businesses that we need to be supporting right now, and always. This is a business that truly cares about their customers.

I work downtown and only get a short lunch break! I love going here and enjoying their delicious buffet! Not too spicy - but loads of flavor! Everything is hot, fresh and ready to go. My favorites by far are the curried lamb - so tender! As well as the roasted eggplant and if you happen to land on a day where they are serving fish, you are also in for a treat!

This place is super friendly. They just set up a new order system on their website super slick and easy to use. When I picked up my order the man asked me how much experience was with the online order system. I thought that was awesome willing to adapt to their consumer. Great place, great authentic food. Wow. Seriously some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The lamb masala and the palak paneer are absolutely to die for. The service was outstanding, and the price was great. The only thing that would be nice is if they had some local craft beer instead of just light lagers available. But other than that, absolutely delicious food and wonderful friendly staff.

ZERO STAR ALL THE WAY. I ordered food a week ago from SKip and I received burnt roti and bunt gravy. I made an inquiry and after 1 week, the rude owner called me. Instead of addressing the issue, he was talking very rudly. He was adamant to accept what have happened and he asked me to not order from his restaurant. Such a terrible way to treat your customer.

I used to love the food. Not sure what's changed. I got delivery yesterday. The guy taking my order didn't even ask for my address. I had to remind and tell him before he hung up. Half hour later someone else called to confirm my order and still didn't understand. I finally got my food. The rice and the vegetarian aloo gabhi where great.The vindaloo,tandoori chicken and naan bread where garbage. The sauce for the vindaloo was wrong. It had sweet potato instead of potato and only 4 little pieces with 10 chewy overcooked shrimp. The tandoori chicken came with a salad that was in the same container as the chicken. Small and ruined by the sauce. The naan bread was as chewy as bubble gum. I never complain but my wife felt the need to write the owner. More out of courtesy then complaining. He called me and argued with me. Telling me knowbodys ever complains and questioning me on whether I knew what I was ordering etc.I was upset by his call and regretted calling. I told him... ok your foods amazing, sorry I called Just trying to get him off the phone. He insisted on giving me another meal I told him 7 would work. At 7.30 he showed up with the same order but he was too busy to talk. Told me he would call me later. Same as before the rice and vegetarian dish where good. This time no salad with the tandoori chicken. I guess at least I didn't get the mushy salad. The naan bread was worse. It was burnt and chewy.The vindaloo was horrible. Ya it was correct because it had potatoes instead of sweet potatoes and the proper sauce. But this time it was two small pieces of potato and once again over cooked shrimp. Would of thought he would look it over and make sure it was amazing. Huge disappointment. Next time I want good Indian food I'll either order somewhere else or cook it myself. Don't waste your money. Bad customer service and inconsistent food.

I ordered from here on ubereats. The food was not good for me personally. I got the butter chicken, which only had a small amount of chicken. The gravy tasted like it was premade from a jar. the owner sent me a comment back saying I should order somewhere else and compare quality and quantity. I've had good indian food before from restaurants and this just wasn't worth it for me both quality and quantity wise. The naans were also a little burnt, making them hard to chew. I.felt like I was biting into chips. Edit: I am simply stating my opinion and not misguiding anyone. If you want authentic Indian food, this place is not for you. There are much better places out there to try from! The owner does not need to attack anyone that leaves a low rating. Just grow up and deal with it. Not everyone is going to like your restaurant ???? Edit: I have tried other places already and did not like your food in comparison to them . Everything you are saying to me is coming off as really rude and making you look bad lol. Stop being triggered lmao

**The Worst Customer Service Ever** I had placed a Skip order. It had items missing and the food was not prepared up to standards. (I can assure this because I have always ordered the same item everytime). I raised my concerns with Skip the dishes and they refunded my money. The next day, this very agitated lady calls me and starts shouting at me on phone. Instead of addressing my concerns, she very rudely implies that I am only trying to rip them off of money just because they are an Indian restaurant. She hung up on me by saying that I should never order here again. I've liked their food in the past, and that's why my order was always the same. But this time, I am very disappointed with their food AND more so with their behavior, their way of handling customer concerns. I am noticing this pattern in the reviews below. They call their customers who had complaints, and talk rudely with them, and tell them never to order here again. If this is what you want...this is exactly what you'll get.

We ordered some food yesterday, it was good but the chicken samosas were disappointing. Very less chicken and more potatoes and peas. The menu clearly mentions chicken. When I called was told that's how they make their samosas and got a lecture on protiens and carbs.If that's the case it should be mentioned in the online menu, so people are aware before placing the order . We have eaten our share of different samosas, where chicken and beef mean just that.

Ok so first off I will say that I don't know much about indian food. However I am a foodie and love great food no matter the culture. This place was clean enough. I went for the buffet so I could try lots of different things. Out of over 30 different items I didn't find one single thing that I liked. There were a few things that were ok and some were down right nasty. But this could all be chalked up to me not being big on this type of food. Where the real problem for me was with the hair in my food. Not one hair but a few and for most people that is a show stopper and it certainly is for me as well. The staff was very friendly and was eager to fill you up on water so you would eat less food. The staff having dirty clothes on was a little bit of a surprise. Basically all the men. The one woman working there was clean. However one man wearing an old grey sweatshirt had food all over it and it looked like it hadn't been washed from many days of use. It cost $25 for the buffet and I feel for me personally that I quite honestly would rather have given a stranger that money rather to endure the whole experience.

I ordered food from skip the dishes and got stale food with odor. I decided to call the restaurant first instead of putting a complaint on Skip the Dishes. The woman who answered the phone became very agitated on hearing my concerns about the food, and told me it is not her problem that I cannot drive to the restaurant to bring the delivered food back to them. Even when I told her the exact problem in food so that the restaurant doesn’t serve it to other customers to prevent anyone from getting sick, she hung up on me. Well, this rating is for her bad customer service, and potentially putting customer’s health at risk. After my rating and complaint to skip the dishes they called me twice, but i had already heard enough from this restaurant !!

Great food and service. I would rate this my number two Indian cuisine in Red Deer. Paid parking but you can usually find a spot. I wasn't sure what to order the first time I went there so the waiter brought out a few samples and said it was just so he could get an idea of what exactly my taste buds liked haha He ended up ordering for me and it was fantastic. I've gone back since then and I will continue to go there for some great food.

First of all if I could give this restaurant 0 stars I definitely would! The experience was terrible and the food was bland which is weird for Indian food! Plus I only got half of my meal for the full price, so when I called them and asked for the rest of my meal they told me I didn't order all that food (obviously I did or why else would it cost so much ?!) and then hung up on me. Overall I would never recommend this place to anyone because they have terrible customer service, the food was aweful and they're expensive for what you get.

Been here a couple of times some years and ago and it is as good as I remember it, if not better. Great menu with loads of veg and meat options. Staff are pleasant, service is quick and the chai was great too! I have never made it there during the buffet but would love to try it as every item I have tried off the menu has been great! Tandoor N Flame restaurant is definitely the best place i have eaten since i arrived in Red Deer. I had Fish Tika and Biryani chicken rice and it tasted so damn good. Both my appetizer and main course meal were medium-spicy, all freshly cooked and well heated. I just can't get that delicious taste out of my head. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
