This used to be my favourite place to go when I would come to visit the trailer. The old owner was friendly and made you feel like family. Yesterday my boyfriend and I went in for the first time since the restaurant was taken over by new owners at around 6pm. As soon as we walked in, I made a joke that i thought they were closed. Instead of being greeted with a smile, he immediately said "we're almost sold out" and proceeded to let us know what he had and lucky for us it was what we came for. We got the vibe while he was packing up our order that we weren't wanted there at all. He ended up giving us one main, and one side (about a four bite portion size each) and charged us full price for a main and two sides ($30) We ended up having to go somewhere else to eat after because we were still hungry. Not to mention the food was not as great as it used to be. We will not be returning.

Disappointed!!! Sold out of what I wanted but went with the chicken club. Maybe a quarter of a piece of chicken breast and 2 pieces of tasteless bacon. Bun was cold and small slice of tomato was tasteless. The side of potatoes was good but small portion. For the price and amount it was way overpriced.

Coleslaw is one of the best around I have had so far. Pulled chicken sandwich and pulled beef both moist and tasty , sides of slaw and roasted potatoes with basil aioli made a very flavorful dish. Omg! We got the pulled pork sandwiches, slaw and corn bread. We sat at the picnic benches out front devouring everything as the juice ran down our fingers. The only thing to make it better was if they had supplied hand wipes for our sticky fingers. But the food is great! If we had been in town longer we would have been back to try more of his selection.

We thought we’d try the Shack based on the reviews. Unfortunately it appears ownership has changed since most of the 5 star reviews were given and this place now doesn’t live up to its former glory. We arrived around 6:20 and were told they were closing within the hour but would still serve us. Sign on the door says they close at 8:00. This may be the source of some of our problems as we appear to have gotten food that had been cooked hours ago. The ribs were dry and couldn’t finish them. Additionally, the back skin which is usually peeled off was not, which made them difficult to eat. The chicken was good though. Fries were made fresh but were salty. When we tried to pay they added an auto tip of close to 18% which you can’t adjust. A tip is no longer a tip when it’s forced and can’t be adjusted, especially since we did takeout and didn’t get what we were expecting.

Deliciously slow cooked meats, cooked to perfection. Fantastically fresh aiolli sauce made from fresh basil. The hot sauce is also tangy fresh blend of veggies and spice. The roast beef sandwich was delightful. Thanks for the great lunch stop

What a jem of a eatery in Orillia! I was just tired of eating from so many of the restaurants I've already been to, so I was looking for some kind of specialty, and I came across this restaurant out of nowhere. I had both of their chicken and pulled beef and they were both savory! Their approach to food was so unique that I loved it! The amount of food was certainly plenty, and whatever they do (from what I saw) is all in-house. Miguel - the one who served me - was super chill and I loved his enthusiasm with his business. I would definitely RECOMMEND coming here regardless of whether it's for a quick bite to eat, or for a dinner menu item.

Just fabulous food! Don’t let the judge by the cover .. Though the furnishings are simple and some might describe it as a “hole in the wall” kinda place, all the food was DELICIOUS! Our family had the pork and rib platter and chicken platter. The meat was all well done, flavourful and the sides were well seasoned(roast potatoes, mashed taters,rice and slaw). The sauces were yummy good. Simply mouth watering home cooking comfort food. What’s more the owners were friendly and gave excellent service! Don’t miss out on this great find. Worth going out of the way for.

Food portion is generous and price is reasonable.Very limited space to dine in,so if you want to sit in and eat, not the best place especially during winter season but definitely recommand for a quick takeout when you are too lazy or tired to cook. Tiny little place. Went there to find some food (not easy, because I am on Keto). The owner knew what Keto was, and told me that their jerk Chicken was Keto friendly. It was delicious, so went back a 2nd night for more. My only complaint? Cook some ribs without BBQ sauce are some sugar free BBQ sauce, so that us Keto people, will have more options! Regardless, chicken was great!!

A little secret gem off Highway 12 in Orillia sits the Shack Eatery, it offers fantastic homemade smoked and grilled food. You should definitely give the aioli sauce a try and excellent excellent ribs and the chicken was grilled to perfection. And the price point is fantastic definitely worth coming back.

Just happened to drive by this place , checked out the reviews and headed right back. So glad we did! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. He said it was right up there with the best coleslaws he’s ever had. I had the beef plate ... delicious. Serving size was generous. My favourite part though was the roast potatoes with the basil aioli. Will definitely visit again when we are back in Orillia.

The chicken wasn't super meaty but that very well could've been a outlier. If you're in Orillia and looking for a change of pace, absolutely hit this spot up.

Ordered a jerk chicken meal on April 3rd around 5pm. It was $14.99 and both chicken and rice were stale and smelly. Chicken tasted like it was fried in old oil. I had to throw it away. I am a returning customer as I had a good experience with them a few years ago. Never again.

First time trying this place and WOW! What a hidden gem! If you’re looking for authentic and tasty bbq then this is the spot. We had two meat platter with mouthwatering sides. We ordered the smoked chicken with rice and roasted potatoes as well as pulled pork with Mac n cheese and coleslaw. Our fav sides were the mac n cheese and the roasted potatoes. We don’t usually order smoked chicken because it can very dry, but this place has it nailed down - it was moist and flavourful. Can’t wait to go back for more!

We stopped in for lunch and could not believe the menu. Loads of delish options and generous portion sizes. The ribs were fall off the bone juicy and flavourful! Cornbread was perfect and the kids loved the mac n cheese. Asiago dip for the potatoes was a really nice touch! The owners and staff were very friendly and all the customers that seemed to pop in an through were raving about how good their lunch was. Especially the pulled pork. Ive already told 4 people about this place since my visit... Needless to say we will be back!

WOW!! Me and my husband went there today for the first time . The food was absolutely incredible and the service was even better. Could not believe how great his bbq is. Stopped here a half hour before they closed with low expectations because they were closing, but wow this place is great!! Some of the best pulled pork I've ever had (and I've had heaps). Tender, flavorful and no fatty bits whatsoever. The rice was delicious, flavorful and spicy. Also, their hot sauce is homemade and absolutely wonderful, I'm a ghost pepper addict and this definitely satisfied my need for spice!

Sweet little BBQ joint. Stopped on my way by while working, called 10 minutes ahead and they had the order ready on the counter when I walked in. Food was great and at the right price too. Definetly going to be stopping here more often.

Stunning. Don’t pass this by. Excellent BBQ done simply. Good prices and portions. Full flavour. Two super friendly brothers doing it right. Not sure why Google says reservations required, they’re not. It’s a small takeout place with a couple seats inside and picnic tables outside. Beef was a better than the pork. Rice was intensely flavoured. Garlic mash, coleslaw, and the potatoes with the aioli are winners.

Bought a meal here and I paid cash. I asked for a receipt. She said there was no receipt for cash purchase. I think someone employed there is stealing money. I can't believe no receipt can be given unless you use credit card. The clerk this afternoon made up some total that didn't add up to what we ordered. Food was amazing though.

Typical southern style dive stop but with the best food. The pulled pork is excellent and the portions are definitely generous. Totally recommend if you need a hearty lunch in Orillia.

Up date Stopped here a couple weeks ago and was very disappointed. The ribs were tough,the rice was was dried out and under cooked, the aioli was to salty and not tasty in my opinion. I will not be going back. The new owners should have stuck with the original owners standards. This place is a treasure. We happened upon The Shack while driving through Orillia.We had the ribs and pork with all 3 sides. It was all amazing! Great food ,great service.We defiantly will be back.
