Placed order for delivery. Got call back from call center saying there was a problem with the address so I attempted to correct this. Set time for 6:00 for delivery and it arrived at 6:20. Everything was cold and ribs were cold and dry. Terrible meal, lots of hassle to order delivery. Never again. They offered me a $20.00 credit on a $50.00 Meal.

Unnecessary long wait (A hostess can seat more than one table at a time) Took 10 minutes to even get my drink order taken even though the waitress was at the very next table at least 3 times. (You can check on more than one table at a time between trips to the kitchen) Asked for dark meat. Got white meat (When your primary disk is chicken this shouldn't be rocket science) However the manager did her best to help where she could. Cara foods doesn't know a thing about running a restaurant or training staff. No excuse after 40 years in business.

I thought I would take my mom out for a nice birthday dinner in orillia to her favorite place. What a huge disappointment. She orders the quarters chick and baked potato. Well it was stone cold. I ordered the quarters chick with fries . A coffee the coffee was cold and very strong my fries were cold the swiss chalet sauce was watered down. The hole meal was discussing. We will never return. Or recommend them

Service/food was absolutely awful. After watching 4 tables around us receive their food and leave we finally received ours nearly one and half hours later. Only to receive dinners not fully finished and cold never mind that some was not fully cooked. We had to hunt down our own condiments! Even the people in the booth beside us came over because they felt bad that they were eating before us and knew they arrived much later than us. We did complain many times to the manager and were given 4 complimentary dinner cards in the end; but we had come from out of town meeting with family for a special occasion and this just ruined it all. So disappointed in this swiss chalet would never recommend this location. Head office needs a total audit of their food service and hospitality in this location.This type of service makes us think twice about even going back to a swiss chalet again.

To the staff on Sunday, May 10...shame on you! I ordered via the phone at 6:30 PM....we arrived at 730, paid and was told it wasn't quite ready. Okay its mothers day...it was finally brought out at 815 (they actually closed at 8pm). What we discovered was undercooked meat...blood spots, and the meat had to be ripped from the bone....mine was nothing but blubbery...YUCK...I have pics if the restaurant is interested. Left an email for head office and other than an automated response, have heard nothing. Now we have been pleased in the past, I feel this was a staffing issue on Sunday. Shelley Kraan

We went to Swiss Chalet this evening for my birthday for the first time ever the service was terrible it took for ever for our orders to come to the table when they did my husband's fries were cold and my daughter waited longer for a plate of fries than the rest of us waited for a whole meal, the bills were handed to us without asking if we wanted dessert which my daughter did, but the fiasco of paying was nerve racking we all paid separately and it took us at least a half hour to pay because the waitress kept walking away to do something else. I will order online and have it delivered but I will not go back to the resturaunt for a sit down meal

We were going to have dinner at the North Bay Swiss Chalet around 6:45 this evening. It was not at all busy, about half of the tables were empty, but we stood waiting to be acknowledged, along with a number of other patrons, for quite some time. Finally, after the long wait, someone asked how many were in our party of two. She then said to wait a moment while she cleaned the table. She then proceeded to clean several more tables, while we stood waiting, then walked by us into the kitchen saying she would be with us in a moment. Meanwhile, the three people behind us walked out. We too left after spending about 15 to 20 minutes waiting to be seated at the half empty restaurant. We went to Mr. Pancho instead where both the service and food was excellent.

Had a great experience today while having dinner in Orillia. There was a large birthday party that had a reservation but where they were seated 1 individual was unable to join the party due to the lack of wheelchair accessibility. The managers on duty Iilan and Matt as well as the staff went out of their way to accommodate the party even after they had already been sat. They created room on the lower dining floor to have the family sit together. The family was able to enjoy dinner and celebrate a birthday together because of the efforts of this staff. They deserve praise as this was one of the best acts of customer service I have seen in a very long time, if not ever.

I ordered by phone for my family -- a family pack with two packs of fries and two caesar salads. We asked if we could get all white meat, as we have been to other locations that will honour that request. The woman at the call centre taking my order said she would have to contact the restaurant itself and ask. She put me on hold to do so and when she came back, she said the restaurant would do this. Great! I finished my order and paid over the phone and ended the call. The restaurant is a 20 minute drive from my house so you can imagine my frustration when this happened: When I got home we discovered that we received two white and two dark. We called the restaurant and spoke to the manager, Amanda, who explained that that is how the family pack is served. I know that already. This was a customer request that has been fulfilled several times in the past. We told Amanda that the woman at the call centre put me on hold to call her restaurant to ask if they would give us all white meat and that she told me that the restaurant said yes. Amanda said they never heard from the call centre and so they did nothing wrong, leading me to believe that the call centre lied to me. We told her that the request is on the receipt that came with the food when I picked it up. For this reason, I don't believe the restaurant/Amanda was truthful when she said the restaurant never heard from the call centre. She (or whoever packed the order and brought it out to me) would have seen the request on the same receipt her store gave me. We said that if the restaurant had no intention of fulfilling the request, they should have called us (We are supposed to provide a phone number for a reason, are we not?). When we told her they should have called us if there was an issue, she was silent for quite a while and then finally responded with an attitude-ridden "Okay". We are new to this area. For the first time ordering from this location, it has not left a good impression and I would be reluctant to order from here in future. From my experience, and based on what I've read from some of the other reviews here, I'd say their customer service needs work. Oh yeah, and our caesar salads came without dressing. They included the cheese, croutons, and bacon, but forgot the caesar salad dressing for our caesar salads so we had to make do with what we had -- balsamic vinaigrette (the hell if I'm driving another 40 minutes total just for dressing), which made me sick.

After 28hr power outage we decided to go out for dinner. Service was good, food came fairly quickly but no chalet sauce brought to table even though we had 6 chicken and rib meals. Customers shouldn't have to chase down a server for an iconic staple to the meal. Other than that, a salad was missing but removed from the bill. Still an enjoyable experience and will return.

I just tried to order a delivery for my parents anniversary, since they are not comfortable going out to restaurants during COVID19. I tried phoning four times last night and they couldn't place the order. I tried to go online, set up an account but it wouldn't recognize my gmail account. I called again this morning and they admitted that their order system wasn't working and advised me to call the store direct. The gentleman that answered the phone informed me they could not handle orders over the phone and I would have to either order online or through their call centre, he insisted those were my only options even after I explained the problems I was having.

$55 for a family feast. Could of got a bigger chicken from Wal-mart for $7.97. Food got here and it was freezing cold, got very little portions of mashed potato (was less than a scoop). Got a little salad that could only feed 1 person, the chicken was still pink in the inside. We got charged for 4 sparkling lemonades that we didn't get so we had to call them. They still didn't do anything about the missing drinks, they just told us they ran out of it and they didn't even say sorry (this was the manager on the phone). Made my 1 year old child gag. It was busy for the anniversary special, I understand; however half the restaurant was empty and there still was a 25 min wait to sit down...short staffed on a day management can anticipate to be busy and those staff who were there seemed generally miserable (probably overworked). The food was ok. On a general note (as this is likely a franchise practice), as I waited I noticed that you store your individual salads in plastic bags, then add dressing, croutons, etc to shake and mix, then discard. So EVERY individual salad equates to another plastic bag in the dump!! What a horrible practice for the environment and a waste!! That needs to change!! Frustrating.

I love Swiss Chalet. I do. Have been besties with them for many years, but this is a first. We were at a hotel in Orillia and daunted by the chilly winds, we decided to have dinner delivered. Caveat emptor. Buyer beware, and read the small print at the end before you close your order. I ordered comfort food, a bowl of chili with tostitos for one and a classic dinner for the other and then I just hoped they would arrive at least good and Warm. Right on time, the call from the desk, and I run down the stairs to assist the food to get to my room asap. Yes, it was good and Warm, no disappointment there. But guess what I had left undone! I did not ask for cutlery. And because I did not ask, there was none in the delivery. A BOWL OF CHILI WITH YOUR FINGERS???? Really?? I did call to let them know but the manager hurried right over to the take-out and delivery phone and checked to make sure whose fault it was that there was NO Cutlery in my order. Obviously she was safe because it was my fault. Unfortunately I had already given a positive review on the online menu and order facility. So I even had to eat my words!! So, I tell you now, somewhere on the internet menu and order window is a space for you to remember to ask for cutlery and maybe even napkins, because if you don't ask, they will not send them and you will get to eat it all with your fingers. Mangia, mangia!

We picked up our order this afternoon at the Memorial Ave location. We were so looking forward to it because this would be our first take out in over 3 months. When we got home and unwrapped our dinners we were sadly disappointed! The French fries were overdone to the point of burned and were completely dried out. It seems they may have been laying under the warming tray for hours. Our chicken wasn't much better. Dried out and not smelling good. Our buns were like rocks. We've never had such a poor dinner and were so disappointed. We were really looking forward to the usual excellent experience from Swiss Chalet. Neither of us finished our meals. The hostess was unprofessional and unhappy as she tossed the menu’s on the table. Our order was taken by a server who was clearly training someone (which is fine, but not setting the best example) Things seemed alright until 30 minutes after our appetizer had left our table and we still hadn’t been approached with our main course, let alone notified that there may be some wait time. We were really confused because the restaurant was visibly quiet and the majority of the staff were hanging out at the bar, including the supervisor/manager. Our server mentioned she was off shift and that our food would be out shortly, but we never received an apology until our food made it to our table by a nice server (Mike, I believe) about 1 hour and 10 minutes after being in the restaurant with no explanation. Love Swiss Chalet, but I will not be recommending this location.

Tonight we went to Swiss chalet as a family (my husband my 5 year old son and I) we wanted to take our son before the lockdown came back into effect and it's our sons favourite place to eat. I order online and chose the gravy and they put swiss sauce on the order instead so i called in told them what happened. i was transferred to another person without being told then i had to re-explain, was put on hold many times without being asked before and again i was being transferred without being told to a manger and they said whats your issue in a very rude tone they said what do you want us to do about it call the call center. Not to mention that our fries for our 2 meals that i ordered were cold and raw in the middle. This is the third time that i have had my order messed up online and will never be going to this restaurant or ordering from them again. For your information! This review is from a teenager's perspective. Three words: Delicious Chicken Dinners. Alright, I can't just sum this place up with 3 words. It's deserving of a full review. The decor is fasionable and modern-ish, there are twists during certain holidays (Like the festive christmas specials) and the special "Chalet Sauce"... It's just... MMMMM! ???? So delicious! Overall, it is definitely a place to go to, and let me just say, I suggest trying the chicken, at least once.

My girlfriend and I went for dinner and it was by far the worst meal either one of us has had in a long time. We both got a full rack of ribs with the parm glazed fries. My girlfriend's salad had an over abundance of cheese, mine had an over abundance of croutons. My ribs were alright a little burnt and I found a bristle on my ribs. My girlfriend's ribs were hard to pull apart and too hard to chew. To top off all the issues, the only option given to us was to wait on them to make us another rack of ribs, seeing as we both had issues with them neither of us wanted them replaced so we paid full price and left unhappy with our meals.

The food was good, thank you kitchen staff. The person who sat us was a bit sour. Our server appeared as though he hated his job and we were a bother to him. Hopefully he was just having a bad day so I tipped him well in hopes that helped put a smile on his face. He was very abrupt. We asked what wing sauce they had and he snapped back with tone and discust on his face and said it's right there on the menu. Tip, if someone asks, just answer. You should know your job. He snapped a few times to us, brought the wrong meal to the ppl at the table beside us and gave THEM a dirty look when they said it wasn't what they ordered. He really is more suited for an assembly line job as customer service is way out of his league. It did make me feel like I'm not interested in going to this location anymore. I'll just stick with the Barrie Bayfield St location. Always wonderful there.

Last time we visited, no chicken. Time before that, cold food. This time, flavorless watered down chicken soup, chicken sandwiches had extremely stale buns with a dot of chicken in them. Asked for well done fries, there were literally 12 fries on my plate that looked & tasted like they were quickly dropped in the fryer and taken out. Once again a horribly subpar experience at this location. You guys are giving a fabulous restaurant like Swiss Chalet a bad name. We are tired of second chances & will never return to this location. My lunch was perfect but my mother was unable to eat half of her ribs as all fat and gristle. Our waitress seemed very distracted and could care less. We had the spring rolls and the spinach dip as appetizers. The spring rolls were good but the spinach dip didn't taste like it was fresh. My husband ordered the chicken wings no complain there. Swiss Chalet was once the best but, to me, it seems that the quality, service and value continues to drop especially in the last few years. This particular location in Orillia is especially bad. Recently I complained about the horrible unedible fries and the manger/supervisor told me that it is because the potatoes are old and they will be getting a new batch of potatoes soon. Then she said that they only "look" bad but taste good. I've been eating these fries for many years and know what how they usually taste....these were burnt, dried out, as if they had been re fried more than once. This is the second time for same problem in 1 month. I'm done and no longer a customer. Never again.

Ordered pick-up using their website and was told that I had to wait in the Harvey's order line to get it (which only has three spots indoors due to covid limits so I had to wait outside for much of the time). I ended up having to wait 20 minutes just to get to the till. The staff looked like they didn't know what they were doing. Everything was super disorganized. When I finally got up to the till, I had to wait another 4-5 minutes before a staff returned to it. While waiting there, other staff tried to open up my bags, which were sitting on the counter! It looked like they were trying to open them up to give something to a Skip the Dishes order. They stopped and apologized when I told them that the bags were mine (my name was written on them). To top it all off, the food ended up being soggy from the wait and they mixed up our order! We paid extra for white meat and got dark meat instead. The fries were also gross. My son was so disgusted by the greasy chicken leg (dark meat not white which we paid for) and the soggy fries, that he wouldn't touch it and we ended up tossing the whole meal. It was such a terrible experience that I will never go back. The location also sucks; it takes 10 minutes just to get in and out there. What a waste of time and money.

I brought my daughter and her friend there last night for dinner. My daughter had a veggie burger and fries, which she enjoyed. Her friend had a 1/4 chicken dinner and a Caesar salad...again, she thought it was okay. Mine was a 1/4 of what would have been a chicken if they let it grow up a bit. Seriously, it was so tiny I almost felt like I was eating a little bird....lol. The fries were old and not quite warm, but the roll and butter were decent. What really got me though was the over zealous server - Steve I think. No intro while seating, and we were still standing when he tried to take our drink order. I told him to maybe wait til we sat down and had a look at what is offered. Honest to gawd he was back 3 times while we were still looking at the menu to ask if we were ready (it was far from busy in there). I think he must have been in a hurry to get the already cooked rest of the dinner food out because man! Our dinner was in front of us within 3-5 minutes! Is it me or is the overall quality Swiss Chalet getting worse instead of better? Maybe check out that new Mary Browns down the road as an alternative. One star each from my daughter and her friend.

I moved around Canada growing up and my family and I always loved stopping in at Swiss Chalets in between moving provinces. It was a staple for us whenever we drove across the country. Always good food, and never disappointed. However, after seeing hundreds of Swiss Chalets around Canada, this one is by far the worst I have ever seen. I’ve given this location multiple chances, but time and time again have found myself disappointed. Whether it’s the food being bad, or incorrect, all the way to rude staff. This place is just a mess. I love Swiss Chalet, but this place is giving the company a bad rep!

Extremely slow service and the portions are small. I requested fresh chicken when I placed my order. Dried chicken is what she gave me and proceeded to tell me that it was fresh. 15 minutes before we saw a server. Then another 20 to recieve our food. We also had to ask for our refills and we barely saw service within our time here. If your in a hurry go somewhere else

Staff was friendly, but the "new crispy chicken sandwich" with a side was NOT a good value! The sandwiches were small, and didn't look anything like the ads on TV/ the ads in the restaurant. The sandwiches were $13.99, and you can get a better/ bigger chicken sandwich at Independant grocery store for $5.99. Wish we had a Popeye's in North Bay

This is the worst restaurant to order from i placed an order at 9 am to be dropped off for mothers day at 4:30 pm same day they took my money and still have not delivered. Tried calling the restaurant and they won't pick up. Tried the website crashed. Called there general support number they could not do a thing, even they could not get through to the restaurant. Called tech support they hung up, never even rung. Save your money and order somewhere else, the only thing they will do is steal your money and ruin your dinner. Been on the phone for two hours never got through, now I have to try and get a refund as they have no problem taking your money. Would give zero stars if there was an option.

First of all the staff where great and my ribs delicious. My wife ordered the quarter chicken special. She had the leg. It was the smallest piece of chicken we have ever seen and also over cooked. For some reason one of us is always disappointed. The Swiss Chalet in Barrie is better. We live outside of Midland and don't have a real Swiss Chalet. We have a Harvey's that serves chicken but it is not the same so we have to drive to get to a Swiss Chalet .We really could use a Swiss Chalet in Midland.

Worse meal I have had in North Bay, not to mention the service was poor and the guy serving needs to take a course in proper etiquette when serving the public. I ordered chicken and had almost a full plate of nothing but rice. Furthermore this waiter when asked if we could please get some milk for our tea and coffee, he threw it on the table. I have to wonder who is doing the training at this establishment! I will never go Back!!!!! I’ve had better food and better service from ordering a pizza.

Terrible experience here. Was ordering online & specifically called in store to make sure they take debit on delivery, 2 different ladies talked & both told me “of course” they take debit. I went back to my order, ordered $80 worth of dinner for my bf and mother, about an hour later the man came to the door to tell me they don’t take debit on delivery. We called back and the manager “micheal” had told us we don’t just give away free food & who cares if they’re just going to be throwing it away. Very very disappointed.

Very disappointed in the service charge to use my credit card for a delivery. Driver told me it's based on the amount and can increase. Last time I will ever order from Swiss chalet again. Was never advised of this fee, almost told the driver to take the food back but it was 7PM and I was hungry. Also I ordered a chicken sandwich on a Kaiser and I have to pay for mayo what a joke. Food was ok so no complaint there.

This last meal did it for us. We used to favour Swiss Chalet however, the last several take out meals have been horrible. The fries are never fresh and the quarter chicken is so overdone it's literally dried out and burnt. They can't even remember to put in extras ordered like sauce! I don't think we'll give them a other try, 3+ strikes and they're off our list of places to eat. Maybe this only happens with take out - we haven't eaten in the restaurant in over 2 years so I can't comment on the food or service there.

I tried the Great Canadian feast which included a cob of corn- the piece of corn was tiny and nothing special. The chicken and baked potato were good. Overall-it was just okay.

This place has two strikes against it don't know if I'll go back again for three strikes. First time the quarter chicken was so small I had to complain. The second time we arrived later in the evening after fishing service was good but they started renovating before they closed and I had to ask to move seats because the tables joining us we're getting ripped apart and shaking the table and all our drinks which was a aggravation.

Consistent food and value you can rely on from Swiss Chalet. If you are from a large city or business area, where food arrives in 15mins or less - don't expect that to be a normal practice. Almost all Swiss Chalet's out of the GTA have longer wait times, but you can at least know your food is served fresh!

Hit and miss with this location. Chicken often overcooked. Last order of chicken spring rolls was a joke. They are now half the original size. Getting expensive for the amount of food you get. Update April 17, 2019. Tried delivery again. I was never advised that delivery in town (Orillia) could be 90mins when making an order just after 7pm. The website showed a 1hr wait. Nope. It is near 8:30pm, no food, no answer at the Restaurant, no more orders for me. Will send it all back if it ever shows up.

Called Swiss Chalet for a single quarter chicken dinner and was quoted 50 minutes for delivery, also told that this establishment doesn't take debit, only cash or visa over the phone. I understand it gets busy but 50 minutes for delivery is absurd. Very disappointed tonight as I was looking forward to some rotisserie chicken.....

We recently had dinner at the North Bay Swiss Chalet before seeing a movie. Steve seared us and we waited quite a while for a waitress. Steve saw we hadn’t been waited on yet and offered to take over (even though we weren’t in his section). He was quick and quite sociable! We would recommend him anytime! Ordered delivery.... My dinner was a complete mess. Ordered chicken on a bun and poutine. Dinner came quickly enough 20 mins from time ordered online. My chicken sandwich had a burnt top bun and sandwich botyom was litterly falling apart, made it very difficult to eat and I've ordered this before and knew what to expect...this was not it. Tasted ok but was not enjoyable to eat. Moved on to poutine however was again disappointed. Cheese was on one side of container and fries on other. Fries were underdone and mushy. Put the cheese on top and added gravy.... Middle of heatwave here and somehow I get cold gravy. Wasn't warm enough to melt cheese and lumpy. Seems this location is hit or miss on how your dinner will turn out. This was definitely a miss.

Extremely disappointed. Ordered online and we were told to pick up in 30 minutes....we were there for pick up within 20 min. It was bagged and ready. As the very pleasant cashier past the bag of food I said I would like to check the order since we have not had the best of luck. She did not have a problem at all. The fries were stone cold and the brown chicken did not look the best but I was not about to take a bite of chicken in the car and should not have to. The order must have been sitting for quite a while because everything was cold. Could have been leftovers. The nice cashier was very pleasant and said she would look into the fries. Another young lady brought us what we thought were new fries and said they were straight out of the fryer and they are as good as it gets with quite an attitude. We had no other choice but to leave with great disappointment...... Swiss Chalet has always been one of our favorite restaurants for eat in but unfortunately we will not do take out anymore.

I just ordered 1/3rack ribs & wings. My ribs were tender but you couldn't tell there were any sauce on it and 2 out of my five wings had sauce. I also did not get a proper knife for my ribs. Waitress was nice and apologetic. Will not be going for a while.
