Fresh food great staff AMAZING PIZZA!!!!! Call for reservation ahead of time though. Lots going on here all the time and they do fill up on weekends if your looking for quiet place maybe go on a Monday or Tuesday
beef was well cooked and the oven for Pizza looks really professional. But the service is a bit slow.
One of the best pizzas i have ever had. It was an excellent establishment. Unfortunately our waiter was impressed with us and it made the experience less enjoyable as he was quite rude and ignorant.
Lovely food, delicious thin crust wood oven pizza, comfortable and friendly service, cozy ambience. It's cold today but they do have a nice patio. Plenty of choices for vegetarians. A gluten free pasta option. Vegan options could be improved. Overall a lovely meal.
Great food! Staff are very accommodating (we wanted a patio table but there were none left, the hostess made some adjustments and created a new table in the parking lot patio for us - covid times). Service was excellent, fast and friendly!
Lovely ambience and atmosphere. The menu is limited with dairy free and vegetarian options but substitutions were accommodated.
We ordered a pizza and some wine at the bar. It was a perfect size to split between two people.
Went there few weekends ago ordered at beer and our food showed up 30 secs after our drinks came in total from walking in and paying walking out was less than 35 mins how do you cook food that fast will not be going back the total bill was over hundred dollars for half hour ,don't waste your money here . Food was not even good dried chicken probably sitting under a heat lamp waste of time goin there.
Very nice restaurant. Had the gnocchi in tomato sauce and chicken pizza. Both were excellent!!! Friendly staff. Fast service. Definitely would recommend.
Great food, fantastic service. A little more variety would be nice, some of us are not big fans of fish/seafood, but what I had was really good.
It was a lovely sunny day, but with a lot of wind. We came with friends to this restaurant for lunch. We were greeted by a very unpleasant and angry woman, with a face as if I had come to her home without an invitation and did something very bad. Anyway, we were offered a table in the sun, without an umbrella, explaining that the wind is very strong and it is impossible to put additional umbrellas, because the wind blows them away. It was too hot to sit under the scorching sun, so we said that we would wait until the table under the umbrella was free. The woman said very angrily "okay wait" rolled her eyes and quickly left. 2 minutes later, she brings a group of people who were in line behind us to the same table that was offered to us (without an umbrella and without the ability to put an umbrella) .... And do you know what she does? PUTS THE UMBRELLA. just like that, right in front of us. But her insolence does not end there. Several minutes pass (we stood in the same place and waited for the car to leave from there) and this woman, rushing past us, casually throws on the run "Oh, the table under the umbrella has just been vacated. Do you want it?" Can you imagine? I am simply discouraged by this blatant arrogance and rudeness. Such people should be prohibited from working in the service sector. The restaurant wasn't even packed! There was no rush at all! You cannot justify this behaviour with anything other than the personal attitude. The owners should urgently change staff. A picture of this employee is attached for the owner's reference.
Dinner
Where do I start. First off, we were delayed 15-20 mins from our reservation time, and were told it was because “a lot of people wanted to dine inside tonight” by the hostess who was rude on more than one occasion before being seated. Upon arriving at our table, they had barely wiped it down, and just threw the cutlery and glasses in a grouping on the table instead of setting the table properly. We weren’t even served a glass of water for another 10-15 minutes after sitting down. The only saving grace was our server who was very accommodating and polite to us our entire night. Three of us ordered espresso martinis, and to our surprise they came half full and with ice cubes, something I’ve never experienced before. The food was subpar for being an “Italian restaurant”. The carbonara I ordered tasted more like buttered noodles than what I know to be a creamy carbonara. Not one of us particularly enjoyed our “Italian” meals, and were left very disappointed with what was supposed to be “the best” restaurant we’d be visiting that weekend.
Lovely evening with delicious food! All staff was friendly and our waitress very amenable! We ordered a glass of wine recommended to us, calamari, shrimp & clam pasta, and beef with gnocchi and a chocolate creme brulee. Seafood was fresh, and gnocchi melted in your mouth!
The wood oven pizza was phenomenal! One of the best I’ve tried! Our server was excellent and gave us great recommendations on food and wine pairings. We came on a rainy day and they accommodated us without a reservation. The atmosphere was cosy and they had a good menu selection. We will definitely be back to try out some other dishes in the future.
Always happy to be there. Good menu, staff have been there for a long time & know what they are talking about. Food is always good!
This was our second time here and it was even better than the first. Pizza and pasta were both delicious.
Loved this restaurant. It's got an outdoor patio as well. Very good friendly service and everything we ordered was so good! Must try- Calamari - it was fried to perfection (not over done and rubbery) Prosicutto wrapped chicken with mushroom risotto - the risotto was uh so delicious Their pizza is the best I've ever had. The crust is handmade and thin and crusty amd their base sauce was too good! Will definitely love to visit again!
This was recommended to us and we are thankful for it. This was unpretentious good food in a very welcoming atmosphere. The hostess was lovely, our table on the patio was perfectly distanced and had a big umbrella for shade. Our waitress was wonderful and very helpful in guiding our wine choices. The pizza was delicious. One member of our party even mentioned this would be their go-to regular pizza if we were local. I wish the pizza was a more doughy type instead of thin crust (you could taste the wood-oven more this way). The ingredients were fresh and my mushroom pizza tasted like heaven. Dessert was amazing. We saw them disinfect other tables thoroughly. Great experience!
Great service, great food! Glad to be able to enjoy such a good experience once again!
The gnocchi was SO GOOD The garlic beschemel pizza was pretty good too! Great service
Service is excellent! Food taste really good. Oven pizza is thin and a good portion to share. Highly recommend the fresh gnocchi house made - portion was large for 2 people. To top off the meals, you need to try the lindt chocolate creme brulee - amazing! I am not a fan of desserts but this is worth trying and also to coming back for. Good outdoor patio.
Good food, good service. Nice patio!
This place was OK, but I certainly would not return. Food was quite average - I tried about 6 items: 3 were just OK (not even "good"), 2 were good (not great), and 1 just wasn't good at all. Service was also OK - professional, and not rude or anything, but just didn't feel friendly whatsoever. Atmosphere was nice, with a good vibe, but it was terribly hot inside - we were all sweating; it was a hot day, but still.... we were all quite uncomfortable. Prices however were fair. This place has potential, but definitely needs some work in a number of areas.
Great atmosphere and awesome place the food was great as well.. but the beef patty had a bit more salt .. all in all wonderful place lovely staff.. ????????????
Great place to grab a bite after checking out the wineries all day. Good food and great service.
Old winery restaurant was pretty good. I had the gnocchi and calamari. Would go back. Limited on the non meat dishes.
Nice atmosphere, cozy patio with shade. Food was good but not enough variety. Could have more pasta options and meat entree options. Salads were mostly leaves, not enough toppings or dressing. Service was good but the wait times were a bit long for entrees. Appetizers came very quickly.
We came down from Hamilton for dinner on Dec. 5th. Lots of parking available, signs clearly labeled for entering and exiting. We were a table of 4 but due to covid restrictions amd not being from the same household we had to sit a separate tables. The restaurant was very good in making sure our tables were next to each other so we could still chat. Weird yes but we made it a good time! The waitress was very nice, she explained everything very well and answered all of our questions. She was excellent about knowing when to pop in and ask questions making sure not to get in the middle of our conversations. This is something hard to find, Thank you for this! Food : We started with the Cesar salad and calamari. The Cesar was excellent, love your dressing! The Calamari was, ok. The breading was delicious but the calamari was a bit tough/hard. This is one of the reasons for the lost star. We then moved on to dinner. I had the steak and my wife had the carbonara pasta. Steak was cooked excellent, medium rare. It was more of a baseball steak then a flat steak and it was the only one on the menu. Another reason for the lost star. A bit of variety on the steaks would have been nice. My wife said the carbonara was good but nothing to write home about.... All in all the food was good, the service was great, they followed all health guidelines and had partitions in the restaurant. We all had a great night and will come back in the near future. We will def be back to sit on the patio one day in the summer! Salute Old Winery!
Looks like they deleted my last review. Our horrible experience began when we were seated outside on the patio and the umbrella had ants all over it. We told our waiter about this and he proceeded to shake the ants off and onto the customers beside us. Because the ants didn't come off he finally decided to give us a new umbrella. We all ordered and we ordered calamari for an appetizer. The service was horrible and slow and we never even received our calamari until after we mentioned it to the waiter. He told us he wished she could blame it on the kitchen staff but it was his fault and never even apologized for it. You could tell other guests were having similar experiences as their food took forever to come and they also didn't receive what they had ordered. We also had to ask the waiter to get proper cutlery and cheese and other toppings for the pasta.
Very enjoyable lunch! Hostess was great as were the wait staff. My husband and I shared 2 different pizzas and wine. Will definitely return in the future
Great service. They have a couple of nice patios, one by the parking lot on turf grass, the other as a deck. I prefer sitting on the deck. The main dining room is more traditional but has an exposed kitchen with a brick oven for their excellent thin crust pizzas. Good pastas and a decent wine selection too.
Went there this past week and was so impressed with the quality and service, Steph was amazing! I was a little timid eating inside but the restaurant owners and employees made us feel extremely comfortable. All the appropriate COVID guidelines were followed perfectly, servers were extremely cautious and everyone went above and beyond to make our safety a priority. Love this place, would definitely recommend!!
We thought we'd treat ourselves to a patio meal so decided to go to the old winery. The service and our meals were very good. Our waitress wore her mask protecting us. We wore our masks whenever she came over to us to protect her. All of the other wait staff were wearing masks. This was awsome and we will return. Keep up the great work ????
This is the Pinot, apparently you don’t receive the arugula on the pizza, although nowhere is it said so. Called and spoke to the very rude manager , who was of no assistance. 10/10 would not recommend, simply because of the horrible help and subpar pizza
Food was fantastic. They have extended their patio by carving out a space in the parking lot with fake grass and a tent cover. It was perfect.
I went here as part of a biking wine tour I was on. The food was just stellar and I would recommend it. Portions also very generous. Definitely recommend.
I wanted more out of this restaurant. The food was okay, the environment seemed to be lacking but I couldn't quite figure out why. Maybe it was the plastic covid partitions or the rather inattentive staff. The white russian I had there was awful. I make them better at home. It tasted watered down. My wife and I both had the steak tenderloin and we left hungry. After spending $200 at a restaurant we should not be leaving hungry. Will I return? Definitely not. I also do not recommend this place.
Dropped by on a whim and a strong recommendation and was not disappointed. Great social distancing and sanitizing in place. It was a dinner for one sort of evening. Friendly attentive staff. Quite pleased with my pasta and wine selection. Great food and reasonable prices... see you again, Old Winery!
Delicious lamb shank with polenta and rapini. Great guitar and voice by Kevin.????????
It's the best italian-like pizzas that can be found in North America. But of you ever tried the actual pizza, don't bother coming here. The Crème Brûlée was just ok, and the caramel crust was harder than expected
My partner and I went for a quick lunch after going to a couple of tastings and we had a great time! I got the Gnocchi with the gorgonzola cream sauce which was delicious! I was a little apprehensive at first but greatly surprised! Great place for a nice meal, not really formal, pretty casual.
Pizza was delicious as well as the rest of the menu. I really like it.
The food here was excellent! Italian menu with a more modern take. The restaurant is decorated well with a nice ambience. The menu and wine list offers a good choice and the prices are reasonable. Not to far from the main strip, overall a great place to eat.
We are repeat customers. They have great wood oven pizza and they have some fantastic pasta dishes as well. The menu is not huge, however everything is well prepared and comes to the table hot. The servers are friendly and fast. Prices are reasonable for the amount and quality of the food.
Honestly, I feel badly when I don’t give a really positive review. I will say that they did take us early when we mistakenly showed up before our reservation. That was very gracious of them. However, after we ordered our wine and food…we started to be attacked by small flies. Including two that made their way into our drinks. None of the other tables seemed to be having this issue. We politely asked if we might be seated at any number of open tables …and were told no. These were tables that seemed to stay empty the rest of the evening. So…we stuck with ours, had our food and left. Before tip with an excellent bottle of Pinot Grigio from Colonari…the total was $114. So it wasn’t inexpensive. I had the burger with bacon and fries, my partner had the daily special of pasta with salmon. The fries were decent, burger was ok not amazing. My partner’s salmon was way over cooked and dry. From a food perspective it was a 3.5. From an experience perspective definitely a 2. And no….we won’t go back.
Awesome place! Great atmosphere, inside and out-the building is over 100 years old and our waiter was one of the most entertaining and hospitable I have had in a long time. A very enjoyable experience!
As a tourist, we found this place while going on an adventure. I'm so glad we stopped in here! The staff was super friendly, the selection hit the right spot, and the portions were good. The Peppermint Patty is magical! If I find my way back to this part of the province, I'll be back! If you're in the area, go here and you'll be glad you went!
Good food, nice service. Really enjoyed the casual dining experience. Recommend for a couple or a small group. Easy walking distance from local B&Bs.
unfortunately for us, definitely not a 4+ star, went for dinner on a Sunday 2 weeks ago, ordered the gnocchi and pizza special, both where ehh. Food was served within 5 mins., probably nuked, the wine a Pinot Grigio from Inniskillin was the only 4.5 star.
Came with a small group as part of a wine tour. We had a lot of fun, with very relaxed vibes and stellar service. The pizzas were delicious and reasonably priced, and the wine was fantastic. Great location. Will definitely be back!
Great thin pizza, outstanding mushroom risotto, glad we went.
Service and employees were awesome. Food not so great. Very dry undercooked pasta. Very disappointed.
The pizza was not great in my opinion. The crust is so so thin it looks and tastes like a tortilla and it was also burnt. Service was okay. Best part was the outdoor seating area. Personally would not go back as it wasn't worth the price.
My husband and I love this place. Their food is amazing and frankly they have the best pizzas in Niagara and in Toronto. Our favourite is their ricotta gnocchi in Gorgonzola cream sauce, Riesling and Cabernet pizza. We have tried their Gewurtz and Chardonnay pizzas and they also taste good. Their Soup of the Day (tomato soup) was really good but they have discontinued it during summers. Our family loves this place and their food is really the best.
My husband and I just had our Wedding Dinner at The Old Winery last evening September 11th!! We are absolutely thrilled...Monique and staff truly made it the most memorable experience for us!!! Food was absolutely perfection and our Server was just amazing throughout !!! We will be back...often!!! Thank you The Brethauers
Terrible customer service here. Waitress was unable to accommodate our medical requirement and had no apology. Instead, was rude and simply told us we would have to go somewhere else. Will never go here again.
Great food and fair prices! I've never had a bad experience at the Old Winery, and with its diverse menu and great staff it's one of my 'go to' spots in NOTL.
Very classy and Elegant place , perfect for a date . Food was amazing even the pizza is great. my wife loves It . Were addicted and counting. Days to go back . Also staff and services was great . Also not to expensive
One of our local places that we love. This time we got the chardonnay, Riesling and Gnocchi in cream sauce and all were superb. The location, staff, flavours and price are all superb. Get ready to make reservations now.
Rustic exterior dinning with modern updates inside including service bar and open kitchen. Staff are friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Wide array of food options enticing you to return and vast selection of local wines. If reserving a table outdoors in advance be sure to arrive early as the staff do their best to accommodate high demand with albeit limited seating. Good for a dinner date night, a night out with friends or just drinks while also very family friendly.
On the positive, service was courteous, their pizza is really good - very thin crust and very tasty (we tried a few), chicken with mushroom risotto was also good. But, unfortunately, their Aperol was REALLY bad - tasted like orange coloured soda water. It seemed like there was no Prosecco or Aperol at all in that drink. I mean if I pay $15 for a drink that has only one version (that’s why it’s called Aperol Spritz) it should taste like one! Also their calamari appetizer was completely tasteless - overbreaded and no salt.
Our party of 6 had lunch yesterday before we started our bike rides. The weather was perfect for our patio seating the host and staff were very friendly and patient as we decided on drinks to celebrate multiple birthdays. The cesar salad and fish of the day was incredible. It was pan seared salmon with pesto angel hair pasta, black olives and sundried tomatoes. It was incredible! They were so accommodating as I needed to chill a small cake I made for the birthday girls. We will be back again!
Gorgonzola gnocchi. Absolutely delicious. Service is always excellent and love the ambience as well!
Proscuitto Wrapped Chicken Supreme with Goat Cheese and Mushroom Risotto was incredible. Best risotto I have had in a very long time. Our waitress was excellent and knowledgeable. Great little find in Niagara wine country! Will definitely go back.
A no frills dining experience with a solid selection of appetizers, pastas and pizzas from their wood fired oven. Generous portion sizes. The pasta was good, but nothing out of this world (boxed dried pasta with a canned sauce), and the pizza was good, although a little dry (oven floor temperatures were likely a little too low, and the crust tasted too dry/ashy). Overall, a good place to grab a quick and filling meal. Would recommend.
What an incredible lunch experience at the old winery! Firstly, the place looked stunning with its vintage ambience. The server was so gracious to tell us about the catch of the day lunch & the soup of the day. We had the cream of tomato soup which was heavenly. Along with it we took fried calamari, gnocchi and pesto linguine pasta with fried salmon. My first experience with salmon and boy was it delicious! Would love to come back here just to try another catch of the day dish!!
We have been going to the restaurant for the excellent food. Pizza and pasta is just great. Great atmosphere, however, we just have a very unfortunate experience. I was looking forward for the gnocchi I ordered (as I do every time I go there) and the server forgot I ordered, after waiting 45 minutes for our meal. Please don't blame it on the kitchen staff, food is excellent. Just poor management. Disappointed at manager blaming the short staff in the kitchen. If you have shortage off staff, sorry, that's poor management.
Such a fantastic meal. Would absolutely recommend dining here. The patio is gorgeous and I liked that we didn't have to find parking downtown or deal with the crowds there either!
Absolutely horrible services. Pizza is nice, but will never come here again. The restaurant is not only about food, it is also about experience, and experience is absolutely terrible here.
The food was fantastic at The Old Winery Restaurant. Our table of four shared the calamari and meatballs - both very tasty. I had the gnocchi with added chicken (amazing). And my friends had the prosciutto wrapped chicken/risotto and two different wood fired pizzas. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Service was very good and the restaurant seemed to be very on top of their game dealing with Covid (screening questions at the door, vaccine check and sanitization of the tables). Would definitely recommend.
If gnocchi is your thing This is the place!! It’s really tasty. Usually I have to put more Parmesan and salt ... but here no need at all. It came with perfect taste no need to put more flavour . ???????? I’ve always been a big fan of Italian food and gnocchi being one of my favorite dishes. The gnocchi with cream sauce is amazing!!!!! Can’t wait to try other dishes. And if the food is amazing so is the staff. My server is wonderful and you feel like you are in their home eating. To sum it up. Great food. Great atmosphere. And such lovely people. Can’t wait to go here again. You will not be disappointed.
Fairly large restaurant, warm ambience and well distanced for the pademic. We went on Friday at 7pm with a reservation. But by 8pm there were ample open tables. The staff, albeit friendly, appeared to be very busy and therefore not overly attentive. But I have no criticism either. The food was average too. The tastes of the pizza (Chardonnay) and the seafood pasta (very thin on the seafood) didn't necessarily jump out. Mind you, I like a spicy palate so there may be an unfair expectation. If you're in the NOL area, give it a shot and decide if you want to again.
A wonderful spot in the NOTL region. We visited on the Saturday of Labour Day weekend and were lucky to get a table around 1:00 pm before they got busy! We had the Antipasto platter and Chardonnay pizza and both were top notch! They have enough seating both indoors and out on the patio. Our server was super too! Would definitely recommend for their wood fired pizzas! ????
My wife and I really love this restaurant- we visit the establishment each time we are in wine country! We always receive excellent service and excellent food - also they are very careful about their covid precautionary measures. Would definitely recommend.
Food comes with reasonable amount and good flavor as well
We loved this place! What a lovely dining experience. Old Winery has tables set up outside the restaurant to accommodate more customers during covid. The view from outside was amazing. The ambiance was so relaxing and my fiancé and I were able to have a very romantic dinner. The food was so good! We had the gnocchi and orechiette pasta. They were so flavorful and tasty. Our waiter Luis was so friendly and very kind. Will absolutely visit again!
Great atmosphere but the booth chairs are too narrow you could only fit half of your butt while sitting on it. What if you have Kardashian silicon-filled buns? I and another guest looked at each other and laughed because we Noticed the same problem. Otherwise, food was delicious. Our server smiled only once the whole time we were there.
What a great night out with friends. The food was awesome. Pizza and calamari for appetizers. The short ribs and salmon were great choices. Lana was awesome tonight. Took care of us. Highly recommended
Meal type
We had a great take out meal a couple of weeks ago. The short ribs were tender and tasty, the Cesar salad was a very generous portion and the grilled chicken also excellent. I would recommend the Lindt Chocolate Creme Brule. I could have eaten two of them! We'll be back fore more over the winter, that's for sure.
A Fantastic lunch, it was a pre-set menu as we had booked a lunch wine tour. Staff/food and wine options were delightful. Best stone burning oven pizza this year! Good patio let's you soak in the sun while sipping on good quality VQA's.
This was a nice place. Mid size menu with variety, not overwhelming. We ordered the gnocchi in gorgonzolla which was delicious, almost two rich. We were there for lunch so I wished we had ordered that dish to share plus an app, or some starters. Also ordered the burger, it was a nice size, crispy edges with a soft bun. Or criticism is it was a bit drippy. Fries were nice, but half dish was fries and half was just bits. Gave it 5 start anyway. Only criticism is you have to pull up the menu on your phone, and in order to access it you have to do an online covid screening, which we already did verbally with the hostess. There's no wifi, and just about no phone service, so it was painful to load the menu online. I understand why they're doing it, but maybe have some real menus you can wipe down, or some printed ones you can just recycle after.
Amazing, everything was a hit, so much flavour (chardonnay pizza, carbonara pasta, autumn apple with whiskey caramel sauce) ????
Don't make people wait 15 minutes at the door, only to tell them: "We are sitting reservations only." Meanwhile, the party in front of us were walk-ins.
Calamari was good. Had the gewurtz pizza, good size for two people to share. Patio was extended to the parking, not bad.
Ambiance - 3/5, lighting on patio was too dark, could barely see the food or each other Service - 4/5, great server, however one of our appetizers (Meatballs, 3 of them...) took longer than any other dish to come out Food/Price - 1/5, menu prices are quite high with lacking food quality ($20 shrimp pasta that did not taste fresh, $18 dollar calamari that had very little seasoning, $12 Caesar that tasted basic and with little to no garnish) Overall, it was very underwhelming. If you're going to charge such high prices (even during COVID) you should provide your guests with much better food and comfortable lighting on the patio. If someone asked where to eat in this area, I'd recommend The Pie Plate (homemade pizza and pies) instead. Not as fancy, but the food is much better with more reasonable prices.
Great food, excellent wine and service. Would definitely go back.
Very nice ambiance. Quiet music in the background. Not too dark and not too bright. Wood fired oven for the pizza gives off a fine aroma. Melissa is friendly and helpful. She understands the wine list and can easily help if you are not familiar with the local wines. Gail had the Riesling and I had the Chardonnay (the pizzas, not the wine). Both were excellent with a nice thin crust, cooked perfectly and flavour you would expect from someone using a wood fired oven. Our wine was the local Konzelmann Chardonnay and we enjoyed it. Dry with a fruity and vibrant flavour. Overall we are very impressed. Five stars.
It seems to be somehow unique, but every time we are visiting this restaurant always delivers satisfaction Thanks,
Great food and ambiance. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We go there as family and everyone enjoy the food. Our usual items are pizza, pasta and burger. The soup is really nice.
Lovely meal, patio and service! A lovely patio with lots of space and shade. The staff was friendly and attentive. This was one of our most memorable meal during our week long visit in NOTL. Definitely would return!
Loved the pizza, they r super thin ????????????????
Highly recommend this restaurant which is located just outside the downtown Niagara on the lake area. We were able to get a table outside right away because they have expanded the patio over to the parking lot. It is a small but nice selection of food and wines. The value was very good as the food was excellent and not overpriced.
Excellente food, high quality ingredients, confident chef able to NOT abuse salt. Very pleasant evening.
We need a reservation however we were having a very early dinner so didn't really need it. Service was great the food was excellent.
Excellent service! The Gorgonzola ricotta gnocchi wax superb! A MUST have.
Nice atmosphere, the waitress was excellent, and we loved the super thin crust pizza !
A very nice place. Good service... the waitstaff were very pleasant and fairly attentive. The food was outstanding. You can't really go wrong on any dish. The pizza is particularly good. Prices are competitive for food. Drinks seem expensive but are delicious. The only main criticism is with hosting and seating us... there was a loud discussion going on with staff at the entrance which made it hard to talk, hear and get appropriate service. Then the host wouldn't seat us at a shady table because it was for 4 people. It would not have been difficult to move a table (they are just light bistro tables) and other pairs were seated at tables for 4. We ended up cooking in the sun... at a small table. Overall, an excellent experience though.
Great service, so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Highly recommended.
Burger was surprisingly tasty. Pasta was decent, had a lot of sauce. Chicken w pasta was good too. Beer and Caesar were good, however the beer is 16oz for 7$ is way overpriced. If it was 20oz then it would be justified. Overall good food, good experience. The patio is really nice quiet with lots of trees ???? ???? (don’t mind the pink shadow on the plates, it’s the reflection from the overhead umbrellas. The plates were white lol)
Arrived early to our reservation on a busy day, accommodated us anyway and was at the table early. Drinks we delivered fast and were made excellently. The food came out rather quick. The food itself is amazing, the flavour is just awesome, highly recommended the Sauvignon blanc pizza its just fantastic
Beautiful menu and excellent service. The wood fired pizza is one of our personal favorites. As is the Lidnt creme brulee for dessert.
The taste and quality of the food was really good. However, I found the portions to be a bit lacking as I felt a tad unsatisfied at the end for the amount of food we ordered (2 pizza's, 2 entree's, and an appetizer for 4 adults). The pizza toppings were not spread out uniformly so there was quite a few bites of just dry dough as well. Good flavors to the pizza, just wished they had spread out the toppings evenly.
Highly recommend the pizzas here! The crust is very thin and crispy, the cheese and toppings are right on, I have not taste such good pizzas in a while. (And they are very reasonably priced as well)
Wow, I had the calamari, the Caesar salad, the carbonate and the spaghetti bolognese..outstanding, and we have been to Italy. Deserts were the lemon and chocolate brulee sampler, 10 star out of 5 Lori and the young man in the kitchen. I will return.
Good food and fast service. Waitress was very snotty and short with us. However, the owner and waitstaff were polite. Good experience and would have been better with a genuinely nice waitress. They also sat us in the back corner where wait staff constantly walk close by with plates over my head. That should not be a table.
Loved this restaurant! Service was fast and friendly. Food was to my liking and big portions. I will definitely be back and try other things on the menu!
Visited on Saturday for lunch on their patio. Overall, the food was good. We ordered their calamari, pepperoni pizza, and shrimp and baby clam pasta. Unfortunately, I don’t recommend the calamari, it was super deep fried, dark brown, and crispy. Calamari is not supposed to be like that. However, the pizza and pasta were good. It also seemed like they were understaffed that day, as it looked like there was only one server for our section of the patio.
We didn't make reservations and the restaurant was packed but the hostess was able to find us a nice table. The food was great and generous for the price; pizza, pasta dish, chicken dish and the chocolate creme brulee. Highly recommend, will definitely return!
Went here for a work dinner. The food was great with pretty large portions. The ambiance is nice. Their cheesecake of the day was amazing!
The food is amazing and the band on Saturday nights is incredible. Great venue for local music and very tasty stone oven pizzas along with the whole menu.
The place is absolutely great for dinner. The pizzas are very delicious, the prices are very reasonable, as well as the wait-time is miserable. I'd put 10 stars if possible for the customer service the restaurant provides. The place was busy on Tuesday evening, so if you want to visit during the weekends - you'd better go ahead and reserve a table!
Quite impressed by this restaurant. My girlfriend and I ended up ordering the Sauvignon Blanc pizza. The stone oven pizza was delicious. We also ordered a vegetarian version of the Orechiette without the beef tips. Which ended being one of the best pasta's I have had. I highly recommend both. One thing I was impressed with is the attitude of the staff. I don't normally see good customer service in most restaurants who make a mistake in orders but the communication of the staff was solid. The lady in red who I think was the hostess corrected the order that I made and personally fixed the order. Our regular waitress also apologized and explained that they also had to switch the sauce since it had beef in it to a mushroom based. The order was done just before my girlfriend and I finished the pizza. We then enjoyed the pasta which turned out great. Keep up the great customer service and food here! Gem of a find in the Niagara by the Lake area and will be back again next time we are in the area.
not as classy as it looks. good pizza but that's about it. service was okay and okay selection of wine but really not worth it compared to surrounding options
Got the Carbonara and Pizza, best Italian restaurant I’ve been too.
I did not know about this place, my cousin took me there for a quick yet amazing lunch. The atmosphere was really nice, the food came out fast and steadily and it was delicious. I took a beef burger and the meat was fresh and juicy and everything felt top of the line. I would recommend if you are visiting Ontario to check this place for a fast yet cozy meal.
Fantastic local wines, fresh and delicious meals. Loved the beetroot arugula salad, pizzas.
Great place to go and eat and drink clean Great food at a fair price. I love this place when l go to the wine country.
I HATE thin crust pizza. It always tastes burnt. Somehow they managed to pull off a 10/10 on their sausage and spinach magnificence. Best pizza l have had in a long time! Way to go. Wait staff was friendly and engaging. Didn't see the facilities but the joint seems very clean and tidy. The band was great (it was country night). We just caught the last set so it wasn't anywhere near capacity. There is parking across the street so it won't be an issue even on busy nights. We'll be back. ????
Very yummy food. Pinot pizza was made to perfection. It was thin crust and the wood oven gave it another dimension ($19). Organic beef burger is amazing with the doubled smoked bacon, smoked cheese and caramelized onions($18). Thanks chefs. The red wine was a bit over priced thought. 9 oz local Jackson Triggs Merlot red wine ($14.60)!
The food should have been charged more, it is simply amazing and delicious. It is a crime to charge that less
We arrived at 12:30 on a Sunday, the restaurant was closed with no signage that it was closed. On Google it said open at 11:30 on Sundays. Call ahead if you ever plan on going here or you're in for a disappointing time.
The food here was delicious. There were a few vegetarian options beyond the usual pasta. The staff were safe and all had PPE. The tables were spread out enough and it felt comfortable being on the patio. I recommend making a reservation as it was quite busy on a Saturday evening.
The experience even during the pandemic was pretty great. However it lacks a little bit of genuine flavour in its ingredients which I was surprised by for a restaurant in NOTL. You can tell their sauce is not homemade. We had the meatballs, cabernet pizza, and the penne alla vodka. Don't get me wrong, all very tasty, but quite expensive for what we thought would be a little more homemade. The owner (or manager) outside checking everyone in was very friendly and appreciative of us being there, and so was our server. We were in and out within 45 minutes for dinner. Thanks for a nice evening.
Our experience at the old winery was not pleasant one. 4 ladies were trying to enjoy NOTL for a weekend getaway and wanted to enjoy a nice meal amongst friends on a Saturday. To begin, our waitress was extremely rude and dismissive while we were trying to review the menu. She was not helpful at all when asked about the menu, however in addition to that, was abrupt and rude when we we inquired about the wine menu. Customer service is key when you are in the service industry, something our waitress lacked in all areas. After placing our orders, it took an hour and a half to receive our meal. Once received, our chicken with mushroom risotto was extremely salty, to the point the it was not even edible. The manager, was pleasant and did apologize by going above and beyond to replace the meal, but at this point, we were not willing to wait any longer to continue eating there. This was one of the worst experience from a waitress and would not recommend or return in the future.
The pasta at The Old Winery is really delicious, I had the orecchiette with beef tips and a mushroom cream sauce--it was an elevated beef stroganoff, and I ate the whole huge portion! My wife had the bolognese with pulled pork and ground beef, which was outstanding. I also had a beet and arugula salad with was dressed well, and very refined. The service was well above average, they were very accommodating to our group of friends. They only lose one star because the Caesar salad my wife had was pretty basic, nothing to set it apart at all. But also because the starter salads are $12 each, which is very pricey, even for NOTL. Regardless, I'd definitely return here and recommend it other people.
Dine in
Best Wood Oven Pizza I have ever had. The ambiance of the restaurant was 10/10. Perfect place for a date or dine out with family/friends. They have the best pizza and salad options. Everyone in the restaurant was welcoming and friendly including the lady who greeted us at the door and our server. They had dessert coffee options as well which I found interesting as I have never had one before. They also gave us dessert cake on the house as we were celebrating our anniversary. It was the best experience of our Niagara Falls trip. Would definitely visit again. Highly recommended!
the old winery served us delicious pastas and calamari, as well as a yummy lindt chocolate creme brulee! we luckily only had to wait a few minutes without a reservation (which we did not expect) and the staff were so friendly. nice atmosphere and great food at reasonable prices
Great food and drinks! Went for a work trip and they comfortably handled 18 of us tonight. I had the Cabarnet pizza and a whiskey sour and recommend both
Delicious pasta! Quaint area and beautiful restaurant. They know what they're doing ????
We had their tomato soup and caesar salad which were both really good. Then we had the special which was pan seared salmon on a bed of linguini and red sauce. We also had the bbqs chicken pizza. Both entrees were very good. The service was great! I highly recommend this restaurant!!
Service
What an amazing place. The food is amazing. We had the Chilli Calamari as a starter and it couldn't be better. The wood oven pizzas are delicious and a perfect size (since we had the Calamari we had some left over for breakfast ????). The price is super fair (from the looks of the place you might think it will be a lot more expensive). I'll definitely go back when I visit the area again.
First off, thank you so much for being open and accommodating us for an amazing meal! The wood fired pizza ???? seriously out of this world ???? super thin, tasty and ???? spicy - oh yeah - the calamari was super light and tasty too. Our water was from Montreal, (sorry I forgot ????????♂️ his name) but wanted to thank him so much for his awesome attitude and smile! Merci????
We LOVE this place and come here for every family birthday or important event. The servers are always so nice, friendly and attentive. The food is SO good, everything we've had has been delicious! Fully recommend not skipping dessert and getting the creme brule!
You need to try this place ! Absolutely delicious!!! The pizza is to die for. We got the Chardonnay pizza and we wanted seconds. I also ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was perfect. For dessert we had the apple pie and it was also amazing. The service was so fast and everyone was really friendly. I can’t wait to come back !
Nice quiet place tucked just off the Main Street. Decent patio and spacious indoor seating. Their pizzas are top notch, burger’s good too, salads are ok and the creme brûlée is scrumptious. A good enough collection of wine and beers too. All in all, no complaints and a satisfying experience.
Google reviews had this as 4.8 stars which is what sold me on it in the first place. I'd say it's close to 3 and a half. Food was just ok. Service too. Gnocchi was a bit salty. If you're looking for dinner, it's fine. But if you're looking for a dining experience go elsewhere.
Food here is reasonably priced and it is exceptional quality. Pizza was super thin and ratio of ingredients to dough was phenomenal. We were here first day of stage 3 reopen and ate indoors. This restaurant takes necessary precautions for social distancing and everyone wears masks, as well as hand sanitizer provided.
Took a while to get our table even though we had a reservation, but overall good service, food was pretty good. The catch of the day salmon with chowder was probably the best cooked fish I've had at a restaurant. Pasta dishes were pretty yummy as well.
Food tastes fine, but feel like they're using the wrong kind of dough for a wood sired pizza oven. Resulted in a super thin crust that was a bit burnt, and I do like things with a bit of "flavour", but wasn't 100% sure how I felt about it really. Wouldn't likely recommend to family/friends since there are so many options in the area.
Excellent food and great selection of wine, naturally. We never been disappointed. Try the wood fired pizza!
Very popular restaurant with excellent pizzas and pasta dishes. Good wine and beer selection . Good value. Friendly atmosphere.
Food was amazing! We love the pizza and the gnocchi! It was delicious and the patio it’s nice and cozy
Huge variety of wines! Pizza made in a wood oven, delish. Sit out on the patio if there’s space!
Nice patio seatings and great service but the food wasn’t as good as I expected. This place has such a high rating and has many great reviews but well..my pasta was very bland, probably the chef forgot to season it(?) and the rib we had was good but little dry.
Very decent place in Niagara were the pasta and pizza are deli. Very cozy as well. Totally recommended for large groups.
