A ok sandwich. The bread was a bit too doughy and soft, seemed like it was under cooked. The turkey and toppings were rather bland, could only taste the Mayo really. Got a side of the BBQ potato salad, it was just potato with some BBQ sauce mixed in. Service was a little awkward and not very friendly. I wouldn't come back to pay $15 for a ok sandwich, 3oz of potato salad, and a bottle of soda.

I just finished eating my first sandwhich from this place and immediately had to give them a 5 star rating. I ordered the number one, which was their take on a Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce. It was one of the best sandwhiches I've ever eaten. The staff were friendly, personable and helped me navigate the ordering process (which has some custom options). The sandwhiches were extremely reasonably priced. All in all this place is awesome!

There are many sandwich selections. Tried the the two most popular sandwiches, no2 no5. There was no option for type of bread we were given thick white bread which was dry, it would have been better toasted. Had the beet soup, it was good. Their drinks and chips were very interesting and tasty.

I pre-ordered a sandwich platter to be delivered to the Inn at the Quay hotel for the morning of my Sept 21, 2019 wedding. There was a party bus sitting outside and the sandwiches were meant to be delivered at 12:30pm and taken directly onto the bus. The bus driver knew all about it and he was prepared for them. The sandwiches were delicious. My entire bridal party was happy and had complements for sure. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because the sandwiches got delivered at 11:30am. So while we were getting ready in the last hour, one of my girls had to scramble to go downstairs to pick up the sandwiches - and then we of course had bring them BACK down again with everything else we were carrying. Meanwhile the bus driver called at 12:15 wondering if he had missed the delivery. He got there early to make sure he took receipt of them. May not seem like a big deal (and in the end because they were delicious it wasn’t) .... It was just slightly annoying because I had confirmed the day before that 12:30 would be when they were delivered. And getting phone calls while I was trying to get the last of my make up done was a little awkward. Could’ve been avoided by delivering when I asked is all. But all in all the sandwiches were delicious and I’m really happy they all got eaten!

Today for lunch I decided to revisit Big Star after a very long time and have a sandwich. I got a pepsi and a roast beef sandwich and it costed more or less 25 dollars. I thought maybe due to covid the prices increased but the sandwich should be good since the tiller was speaking very proudly on how they cook their own meet. I have to admit that the meet was blend and had no taste, the bread was saugie and thick. Definitely not worth 25 dollars. This place used to be better but it has definitely lost the quality that they used to provide. I would not suggest this place to my dog, neither less anyone else.

Massively disappointing, I had high hopes but this was not much better than gas station quality. The bread was like a Dempsters Hooge and the lettuce is that pre-shredded stuff. Their “thing” seems to be putting Hickory Sticks in the sandwich. Not worth $6, let alone the $12 I paid.

First time going here. The 2 Sandwiches we got were ok. However, their online menu price and in-shop price are different. 13.75 vs 15.00 and 15.50 each. Didn't realise until I left and drove away from new west. For 15 bucks a sandwich, it seems a little stingy. added value of 'great meats' doesn't really cut it when the serving seems a little skimpy. I'd rather go to subway / Quiznos/Safeway/meat&bread... and get a better meal For equal or less price. My advice? ,meh. Give it a miss. I probably won't be back.

Big Star satisfies my cravings for a good sandwich. The #1 and the #20 are my favourites, even though to 20 isn't on the menu anymore. The staff are always helpful and sweet! Prices a bit high for me, but it's 100% worth what you pay for.

I was excited to show go to Big Star for the first time before my best friend went to try on wedding dresses. As a group of 5 the seating options were limited and we were stuffed around a small table. I've taken it upon myself to spend a month being vegetarian and to my surprise Big Star has the option to opt in for vegetarian "meat" options. I ordered the #1 with vegetarian "turkey", when it arrived it definitely was meat. Due to being in a rush to make out appointment time and because I am not a real vegetarian I did not bring it to Big Star's attention. Another bridesmaid who is a vegetarian created her own sandwich with the vegetarian option, when the sandwich arrived it was missing the meat substitute and was only veggies and sauce. May want to miss this place if you are a vegetarian!

After a long day of cycling I decided to treat myself and bought a number 13 sandwich. When I got home it was swimming in white sauce and the parchment paper was soaked through. Every part of the sandwich was covered and incredibly sloppy to eat. Bread should not be slippery to hold. My suggestion is ask how much sauce they use or simply tell them easy on the sauce. So disappointing

Pictures speak louder than words. See the picture below. Does this look like $43.23 meal to you? I mean Skip has its own charges let's say it's $35 and even then it's hard to justify.

The place is well kept, and the sandwich I ordered was pretty good. It definitely wasn't worth the $13 I spent on a large, but there was a decent amount of meat and filler. The beef was well seasoned and tender, and it's worth dropping in to try, but not something to go to all the time on account of the price.

I would've easily given them a 5 ????, but their buns are just too tough, it doesn't seem to do the sandwich justice...I should clarify...the top of the bun. Why is it so tough? The bottom? The bottom is nice and soft, compliments the sandwich...why you gotta tear through that top one though? And why was the bottom of my sandwich smothered in Mustard and Horse Radish... it's a sandwich folks, you've got the right beef (very good), spicy Capicolla (again very good). But the chewy bun, and mess underneath? It's not rocket science... Christ I originally started at 4 ????, and by the time I finished typing all this changed to a 2 ????... I see a "we're hiring" sign outside ... Maybe they should do more training and food prep... Unless something changes, I'll stick with Paul's Sub...✔️

Big Star easily makes the best sandwiches you'll ever taste! My favourite is the #2 with sticks. Dave likes both the #9 and #13 with sticks. Make Sure You Get The Sticks! It's busy and it's crowded because it's fantastic. Don't bring your laptop to lounge. Know what you want, order, eat, be happy, and make room for the many other hungry people who need their Big Star Sandwich fix.

I ate the turkey bacon guac cheddar sandwich. The roll and the shredded turkey were great. However, there wasn't enough meat in the sandwich at all and the sauce was more mayonnaise than honey mustard. Overall it's a good sandwich but nothing out of the ordinary. For the price I expected a larger portion of turkey and more flavor.

Very clean, excellent food. It's not a huge seating area so don't assume you'll be able to eat-in during peak hours. The sandwiches are so thick the large should have wheels and beep when it backs up. I recommend the #5 with some added hickory sticks for the crunch.

One of the worst sandwiches I've ever had. Big star is a brand that needs to reevaluate their menu. People don't want a mouthfull of bread....at least toast your sandwiches and refine them.

I got the vegetarian option number 26, and even though I’m appreciative that the shop offers variety in meat alternatives to vegetarians - i would like to see more flavour in the sandwiches. The ciabatta should be toasted and if the sandwich is supposed to have guacamole, I should be able to see it. The service could be more helpful and warm. The interior is nice with space for about 20. Metered parking out front on the street. Another suggestion would be if the restaurant stocked up on the options of meat alternatives they mention in their menu instead of just having one at a time.

Very slow service , way too much bun , looks like a large sandwich but inside of the bun is very little not good value at $ 13 or more , called from home to order told me 15 minutes arrived in 10 minutes and paid , waiting another 16 minutes as 2 people who were there already had left and 3 more people came in and ordered and got there food and left I was quite taken aback that the staff seems to give preference to walk in orders over phone in , although on their webpage they ask you to call ahead , WON'T BE BACK ,. Better value at the WHITE SPOT ,????

I thought this place would be good because I always see people lined up there and the ratings on Skip were good. I just ordered and paid $35 for a teeny tiny sandwich that tasted about the same (or even worse) as a Save On Foods Sandwich,. Also, it was about the size of my hand, their potato salad was about 3 tablespoons worth....I literally feel ripped off and robbed. This much money should definitely pay for more. I will never order from here ever again. There goes 3 hours of hard work out the window for literally nothing. I could have paid seven bucks at Safeway for the same thing and it would have been better!!

If I could give you 0 I would, my first time being at the Columbia location I ordered at breakfast sandwich I was asked full or half so I got a full, I also got a full #4. When I got home I realized it was only a half I called to ask what happened. The Asian guy who works there answered and started accusing me of trying to rip them off and saying don’t come anymore I’m not welcome, that was putting it politely. The 12st owners were a lot friendlier and never encountered that kind of attitude. Honestly disappointed

Best sandwich joint in the Lower Mainland. My only suggestion for improvement would be that the side salad, in my case, the horseradish potato salad, came in a larger portion. It should be at least double the present size. Other than that, good job; I will be back !!

Whelp, had been excited to try this place, but found it very underwhelming. Staff was friendly enough, I ordered the Bacon Cheddar Roast Beef, and found but the sandwich had way too much mayonnaise, the tiny shredded lettuce was watery and made the bun fall apart, and the bacon was pretty much raw. Pretty pricey for what you get. Won't be going back.

Had the #28 I believe and it had hickory sticks on it!!! Used to do this when I was a kid but this sandwich was way better then the one I would make at home Awesome sandwich little bit of kick, soup was good. Some are complaining about drink selection, I could care less cause the food is great.

I've been in New West for a while and heard a lot of hype, so I was really excited to give their sandwhiches a try. Today i was running a lot of errands and found myself starving so i stopped by in between appointments to try them out. Ordered the 21 and walked 3min down to sit by the water and enjoy it. When I unwrapped the sandwhich, the paper was soaked through, and the bread was completely wet. I tried to eat it but it was honest unpalatable. I immediately lost my appetite. Since I had another appointment I didnt have time to walk back to and ask for a replacement or refund, so I bascially threw away $14. I won't be coming back.

One of my favorite deli sandwich chains. We had the #20 and #14 today. The corned beef sandwiches are probably my favorite items here and that being the #20. The mack sauce and hickory sticks match together really well. There's also substabtial amount of the corned beef on this sandwich. Don't need to get a large sandwich as the small will fill you up enough as is. Keep in mind, not the cheapest sandwiches but, they taste amazing!

I finally tried the sandwiches here and was not impressed at all (although it is better than subway) The meat was dry and there was no flavour or taste at all. Others rave about big star but i do not know why unless new westminster doesnt really have any other options. For a good sandwich place try MEAT AND BREAD in downtown vancouver near gas town, they make sandwiches that you cannot and i repeat cannot make at home.

Ordered thru skip the dishes. Paid extra fir a combo, asked for light guacamole. No guacamole on sandwich. Drink not available for the combo so credited me .89 in skip credits. Asked for hickory sticks as my side, sandwich maker took it upon themselves to put the hickory sticks on my sandwich as opposed to delivering a bag with my order, even though I paid for it. Wont be ordering from again. More than $19 spent on an incorrect order. Restaurant not concerned with customer service. Very disappointing

BLAND! The two vegetarian options #21 and #22 were so not worth the money. Tasteless, slopped on mayonnaise and soggy. The best tasting part if you had say something positive was the bread and that's not saying much. Better value and taste with Subway's Veggie Pattie sub. Too bad despite the friendly service.

I've been coming to Big Star for sandwiches for over 5 years. The restaurant used to be located on 12th St. The quality of their sandwiches has not changed even after moving locations. I Introduced my girlfriend to this place and she absolutely loved it. The service has always been great and the staff is very friendly. Great spot to come for lunch. I recommend any sandwich with roast beef on it!

My cousin and I went to this location for lunch. I ordered the #27 roast beef provolone & garlic aioli she had the #5 fresh egg ham & cheader. Sandwiches were alright a little on the expensive side. The soup of the day however was a little dissiponting cream of poato and bacon poatos were soggy and the soup was wattery and not creamy. Other than that friendly staff and clean restaurant might stop by again if I was in the mood for a sandwich on columbia street.

Not sure about any other Lower Mainland location, but the one in Langley just doesn’t cut it..... Seating is weird, it’s noon on a Wednesday and 1/3 of the menu says “Sold Out” on it, sandwiches are generally cold or lukewarm when they should be hot, tastes and looks processed and prefab, bun is crappy/used as filler to make the sandwiches appear large and all that for the price of a lunch at Cactus Club? No chance. Try Moreno’s, up the street in Langley for a real sandwich shop, they crush this place at 2/3 the price.

I had high hopes for this place based on reviews and recommendations from friends & family, but was thoroughly disappointed. The meat is bland, the sandwiches have WAY too much mayo, and fall apart from the first bite. I've tried 2 locations now, and was disappointed both times with the value, size, and flavour of the sandwiches. I'm genuinely confused by the high stars and rave reviews. $30 for 2 small sandwiches and a sparkling water is a lot of money, and I feel like the local donair shop does a better job of providing flavour at 1/3 of the price.

Went to the New West location. I had the turkey and capicolo sandwich. The sandwich was good. I found it had too much mayo and I couldn't quite feel the capicolo. But the turkey is actual roasted and then shaved turkey. Not deli nitrate turkey. Also, they are (if you get the big) big sandwiches. They are totally worth the money you pay for them. Good selection of rare pop drinks as well!

It's pretty damn expensive and to top it off i ordered two pickles and they didn't put them in the bag. that's 5 bucks worth of pickle plus it added to the bill and tip, which i left 15%. so i basically gave them $7 for nothing.... unacceptble. This place was much better before the expanded and started looking to cut costs with food products. The prices don’t justify the minimal amount of meat they put in their sandwiches. The ratio is now commonly 20% meet 80% everything else. Will have to search elsewhere for a good sandwiches.

Had a turkey bacon and guacamole sandwich. The shredded lettuce gave the appearance of a cheap sandwich and the taste confirmed it. Sandwich overall was very dry with not alot of flavour. I also got the $4 meal deal which included a pop and a four oz portion of potatoe salad, which was way too small for the price point. Overall, very disappointed with both the price and quality.

My only complaint is that they close so damn early. Really stupid business model to close at 7pm. Especially on friday and saturday nights where you damn well know people are just itching for an alternative to the standard fare of fast food.
