Great flavor and pleasant surprise to find gluten free pita options that were delicious!!! Mix of a few international dishes thrown into menu though all of the standard Mediterranean food fare the region is known for. Stopped in with a friend while traveling and glad I did. Had the lentil soup and small hummus with gluten free pita and was plenty of food for a meal and delicious.

Was uptown and was up for some flavourful food, so decided to stop in for some lunch. Service was great, the food came out quickly (which worked well with my schedule on the parking meter) and was really delicious and the portion was good value for the price point. Sorry no pics of my food - it got consumed too quickly! Skip the fast food and chain restaurants, and eat here. The food is great and you are supporting independent restauranteurs showcase their talents and passions. I will most certainly be back for more the next time I'm uptown.

Service was top notch. Decor was very nice and Egyptian! Food was good... rice with the tandoori chicken kabobs was dry. Chicken was delicious. Salad ingredients were so fresh for the green salad. I didn't like the salad dressing but my friend did. That was my own personal taste ... I didn't think to ask if there was a choice. Price was reasonable. Coffee was excellent and the baklava (spelling?) was as they say, "to die for".

This place is amazing!! I had one of the most delicious meals of my life here a few days ago. Had the homemade hummus with gf pita and the moussaka tajine with beef. To die for. The atmosphere is nice and service was prompt and very friendly. Angel was our server and she was very helpful and patient (I have a dairy and gluten allergy) with helping me determine what I could safely eat. My boyfriend loved his meal too. We wish we didn't live hundreds of kms away! This place serves healthy, delicious, fresh food! Thank you!!! We really hope to come back someday. A good spot for those with food allergies. A real gem.

I had high expectations, however they werent quite met....but I left satisfied.. The service was very friendly and accurate, however he took a very long time to bring our drinks and notice when we were done our meals etc... The live music was good but a little too loud for the space/environment.... The drinks (pin colada & sphinx) and hummus was amazing... The entrees (slovaki / kebab plate with greek salads) were good but not amazing... I really don't have any complaints but I feel like its a tad bit expensive - but that being said youd pay the same for processed food from a restaurant chain.... The baklava was great!

Absolutely delicious. We started with hummus. I had the chicken shawarma plate, my husband had the chicken shawarma wrap. My side was the tabouli salad, his was the Greek salad. The chicken was amazingly tender and flavourful. The salads were fresh and tasty. Both portions were huge. The service was fast and friendly. We will definitely be back.

I had the chicken shawarma poutine and it was delicious! I rated just a little less than 5 because I would prefer a little more chicken on the poutine. But everything else about it was perfect! I'd actually rate it between the 4 and 5, like a 4.3. We also tried the samosas appetizer which was scrumptious! We would definitely come back.

This time, my visit was during Ramadan, so it was fairly quiet. I didn't have time to eat in this time, as I was doing one of the walking tours, but really wanted to; I am very taken by the authentic decor and music that makes you want to move. I live in Nova Scotia, but I'm tempted to go over one day on the ferry just to take in the buffet on Friday and Saturday. Prices are very reasonable and this time I had a wrap and fries with the garlic mayo. The mayo is wonderful! I ate my fries (peelings on and the longest I've ever seen) as I walked and had my wrap back at the hotel. Food is excellent quality.

This was my first time ordering from Taste of Egypt, and I must say that I am impressed! The hummus is creamy with the perfect balance of flavors, and a generous portion of pita makes sure you can enjoy every last bite. I ordered the Shish Tawouk and the chicken was amazing! The Greek Salad had the best vinaigrette I have ordered from a restaurant and the salad itself was generous with ingredients, not just a bowl of romaine lettuce. I have yet to eat dessert that I ordered, but I can only imagine how wonderful it will be. A huge thank you to the staff, my compliments to the chef!

I asked Taste of Egypt to cater an event last year, and I was blown away with their service and expediency. One of their staff spent over 10 minutes on the phone with me and went over their menu to find the option that best fit my budget and audience. The food was well received and arrived on time. I've visited the location twice since then to dine in, and the staff were wonderful and welcoming every time. The food was high-quality and the portion sizes quite generous. I highly recommend this place!

Ordered a shawarma poutine & plate and a large greek salad the food was good but the portion size was extremely small for the Hefty price. Rice is cheap and was 90% of the plate and the poutine barely took up 1/2 of the togo container. Lastly the large greek salad was all lettuce and added shrimp 6 shrimp for 6$.

Very hard restaurant to rate. Service was FANTASTIC. As for the menu, it's too broad. It's gone beyond Egyptian food and includes all kinds of food that like Pad Thai? Butter Chicken? Tajines? Tandoori? Greek Burgers? Caprese Burgers? Those are not remotely Egyptian. I had the vegetarian platter because it had the most Egyptian content. Unfortunately, the items were not seasoned enough. Lacked salt and typical spices for the food type. Maybe it's because the menu is so vast? Did I mention the EXCELLENT service? Go there, be well treated. Hopefully they'll concentrate on the Egyptian flavors the same way they concentrate on the Hospitality.

Nice restaurant but very expensive for what we got. Personally I have already eaten in better restaurants for cheaper. The food was ok, the restaurant presentation was great. There was a musician playing the same repetitive music with his guitar. The service was good too. Restaurant is recommended especially because it is different of what you can get in north of America.

The lentil soup here is one of the best soups I’ve ever had in my life, it is so rich, it’s almost like eating melted butter. Whoever makes that soup, deserves a trophy. Rest of the menu is really underwhelming, and seriously under seasoned on everything, very bland. Falafel is try and flavorless, tabouleh, is bland, too much dressing, chicken is really dry. Have gone back for the soup though!

I do not understand where all the good reviews came from, the owner probably paid someone for all these reviews. I received a very disappointing service with my order. Not only I had to wait for the longest time for my take out, the food that I ordered was not what I wanted. After calling to try to resolve the issue, I got blamed and called a liar for not mentioning what exactly I want over the phone. No one wanted to deliver me what I initially ordered and solve this issue. Very disappointed. And if that's not enough, the food that I took with me was cold. They had only one job to do, how can so many mistakes be made?

What a great lunch! I had the 3 kabob lunch meal - it was delicious. The rice was seasoned and not salty. The kabobs were delicious and the Greek Salad was one of the best I've had. The coffee was good. I'll definitely be trying one of their speciality drinks next time though and the dessert (Baklava) was wonderful. The phylo dough was so flaky and thin. The Taste of Egypt has found a real gem in Kyle. He's an amazing server who knew the menu, was courteous and very controlled of a busy lunch group with takeout orders as well. The price was great, and I left feeling like I had a great meal in a fantastic atmosphere.

When I asked for a takeout container since I needed to rush to the airport, I had to separately ask for fork and didn’t get a bag. I also noticed that you may need to be careful with their vegan menu items since they sometimes include egg. However, I was impressed that they had gluten free pita and buns available!

My partner and I considered our experience here unbeatable! We were greeted by our server, Kyle, who quickly seated us, asked us if we had any dietary restrictions, and took our order after we had an opportunity to view the menu. The service was remarkably fast, and the food was to die for. In fact, the restaurant was silent at times because everyone was too occupied by their delicious meals. Additionally, the environment was very attractive, and had the perfect balance between a casual and professional setting. It wasn't cheap, but worth it for the quality of the food and overall service. Though I am not from SJ, I will definitely be making a trip back. I highly recommend.

We ate at this restaurant years ago and remember being served delicious flavourful food in a great atmosphere. It was cold when we walked in, with a cold draft and the waiter offered to turn off the air conditioning. This was in the fall at 10°c outside. This time the food we ordered was almost entirely tasteless. We ordered the baba ghanouj to start and it lacked any flavour but was swimming in olive oil. We followed with the falafel burger. I had mine with lentil soup, which, although it did have a bit of spice was rather thin. The deep fried burger was totally without flavour, it could have been anything. No garlic, no spices, nothing. The onion and pickle were the only flavours. We were looking forward to dessert (baklava) but decided not to risk it. We wasted enough money on those choices. There was no attempt made to rectify the situation which we had made clear to the waiter, who, though he insincerely expressed his apologies was not interested in making things right. We will never come back. Probably the worst restaurant experience we've ever had.

This restaurant gets #1 Place in Saint John for what they offer for kids. Our family decided to celebrate our youngest son's 8th birthday here. The Kids Menu had plenty of options including some great ethnic dishes in which our kids chose a couple of the Chicken Shawarma and a Beef Kofta Kebab. Great tasting healthy dishes, with a selection of drinks, and then a stunning "build-your-own" ice cream sundae - all for much better value than what one gets at other local family restaurants. All of our kids were pleasantly how tasty the food was and thoroughly enjoyed dessert. Looking for a family restaurant with GREAT food, service, and value...look no further when looking for some eats Uptown. We'll be back again soon!

We arrived just as they opened at 4:00 for an early supper. We were greeted by our server who after learning it was our first visit went through the menu with us to explain the food and give suggestions. For the appetizer we chose samosas, one chicken and one beef, both had very good flavour. I ordered the Beef Kofta Kebobs with Greek salad and Greek potatoes. We both enjoyed our meals, portions were large and food hot and fresh. The server often made suggestions through out the meal for drinks, etc. We left very full with lots of leftovers. I did find it odd that the customer packed their own leftovers but not a big deal. Overall very positive experience. We found the prices reasonable as well for the portion size. We would definitely return.

Vegan or Vegetarian or Gluten Free, this place has it all. The menu specifically notes the difference in the description. The location is easy to find on the main street, King St. just below King Square and the Market. The food is all made fresh with traditional flavour and spices of a Great Mediterranean Menu. Portion size was large and our server took time to explain anything we were unsure of.

The only halal meet restaurant in the area. Went at 9 pm the lady was very very helpful and super nice. Place is good to eat but we ordered take out. The food was excellent and all around had a nice experience. P.S they won TripAdvisor certificate 3 times in row!!

Ordered online food...the Kebabs chicken/beef were dried out and tasteless, the butter chicken was sauce with two pieces of chicken, the Moussaka vegetarian was greasy and not very good to eat. I have owned my own restaurant and understand how important it is to make a profit...in saying that the quality of the food also has to be good enough to get repeat business and in this restaurant the quality has failed. Thank you. I heard back from the chef and the entire dinner was refunded without any question. Thank you for your integrity to satisfy the needs of the customer.

Oh. My. Snap. Eat here. I was in SJ on business for three months and my wife and I have an understanding about not going to new Mediterranean/Middle East restaurants without each other. So I got delivery. And eventually we went and ate in together. It's always been amazing. The tandoori chicken plate is great, and spicy, and filling. The shawarma wrap is delicious. And the fattoush is darn well worth the $3 salad upgrade fee.

The food tasted really good, the atmosphere inside was calming! It wasn't too busy when I went, service was fast enough and good. Would have loved to have larger portions but otherwise, no complaints! Also, when you are looking for Halal options, this is one of the places to go!
