The work out gym is a good size but the other gym is too busy to be able to play anything. The main reason we bought a membership was so we could join the gym sports (badminton, pickleball) but it is impossible to play because they only have three nets and the same people are playing for the entire time so there is no chance for anyone else to play.

An excellent sports center, the Y has everything for everyone to enjoy. A nice pool, sports gymnasium, weight lifting and cardio equipments plus other group activities. And the hours of operations are very flexible consideration SJ population.

Everyone loves the Y and I was not an exception until two weeks ago. I have a routine. I workout for two hours each day, six days a week whether it rains or shines. Besides the decent infrastructure and convenient location, the Y’s social responsibility model appealed to me. Being a social entrepreneur I try to associate myself with organizations with a sustainable mission and vision. It is easy to be a star when times are good. Crisis and challenges reveal the true character of an organization. I have a structural birth defect which creates an imbalance while performing most physical activities. Having endured several stress fractures and knee injuries in the past, I have learnt to manage the condition efficiently by making minor adjustments to my form. For example, I can’t deadlift or perform standing calf raises wearing shoes (be it athletic canvas or weightlifting shoes). For these two exercises, I usually take my shoes off so that I can be injury free. This is against YMCA’s gym etiquette and no amount of scientific plea or request for an exception will be entertained. All this while the information has been exchanged through the front desk and not even once the office bearers responsible for making these decisions had the courtesy to reach out to me. End of the day it is not about the outcome of the decision but the manner in which an individual’s physical disability is handled. Values such as “Respect”, “Honesty”, “Inclusion” & “Responsibility” are mere wall-flowers when not followed.

Great family fitness facility very helpful employees with the best ventilation cross breeze in a gym anywhere. If your shirts wet from cardio and you weightlifting after your shirt will be dry before you’re done weightlifting.

Wow what a lovely facility! Beautiful inside and out. I work at the Y in Ontario and we stopped here on our way through NB and it was very clean and super friendly staff. The staff that greeted us, I believe her name was Mary was so lovely and showed us around. You can tell she is very proud of the facility. We will definitely come back if we are in town again!

It’s really hard to saying something about the Y but because they didn’t care about the volunteer My -bad-experience in there for almost 2 year Hardly NOT recommended to anyone volunteering there, at first they make everything shiny ( with some staff it is ) but in general it’s NOT It’s really hard to deal with them and they want a lot ....... for nothing Not even Verbal appreciation I DON’t need anything from you Y I just want to send great thanks to all respectfully employees in there Good place to Visitor ,clean and friendly But there are some Notice about the Volunteering I don’t like to post it here Just one of the notes is I asked for volunteer certificate from two months until now I didn’t have it yet and no one contact me at all some staff is great, friendly but there are some not I think it’s good to solve some misunderstanding with the volunteer =============

Very modern and clean facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. The pool is not over-chlorinated. Clean change rooms with use of hair dryers. They also have exercise classes you can sign up for. There are alot of youth activities as well. Ample free parking which is much better than their old facility.

Really great new facility. Probably a great place for 90% of people. However, the old YMCA was a great place for powerlifting and heavy lifting. This facility is not. But it is a fantastic new facility that would cater to 90% of people looking to lift weights and get in shape. And it's pretty much perfect for a family. TL;DR - great for family fitness, hardcore lifters look elsewhere
