Yum yum yum. Great salad great chai with cream. Great soup great chile. Delicious coconut cream pie. Lovely music great homey cosy devote. Fresh food nice people. Open Sunday 12 noon then 24 hours a day closing at 12 noon Friday. Love love the yellow deli.
The atmosphere was unique, earthy and welcoming along with the folks that make this gem glow. The food was simple and delicious and the portions satisfied me. I highly recommend this yummy little hidden nook and I would eat there again.
Stopped for some breakfast at the little Cafe. Nice selection of items on the menu and good value. If you digs Chai I would recommend the Chai Mate which was sooo delish with rich creamy and spicey notes. Also the yogurt parfait was really a treat. Staff and Service were very good.
I had heard that this place was run by a cult and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I was being polite and peaceful and bought one of their earl grey teas. I told my female friend how strong I thought women were and the manager overheard. He proceeded over to our table and said to me, “Excuse me, we don’t talk like that here.” His tone was anger and rudeness. This is a place where disinfranchised young men go to assert their dominance. Don’t support them.
the very best Reuben sandwich I have EVER had!!! And a patio that allows dogs!
I had seen it on a previous visit but didn't have the time to investigate as to what this unique looking building had to offer. This last drive through Nelson my girlfriend and I made a point of checking it out and we are so glad we did. Food was good and interesting yet very reasonably priced. The service was very accomodating of our 2 dogs. The restaraunt itself made you feel like you were in a fairy tale. I would highly recommend.
We visited and thoroughly enjoyed our sandwich & Vanilla Chai Latte. A very interesting environment & ambiance. Only later did we find out from locals about its apparent ‘cult’ background. Definitely felt a different vibe there but our experience was good!
If you support this restaurant you are supporting a cult. Do some research online (there is plenty to read) about the Twelve Tribes, the group that runs this place. Former members have some very disturbing experiences to share about how this group treats their children, their views on women's equality (or lack of in this case), minority groups, etc.. It's very disheartening that in a place like Nelson known for it's enlightened, caring population, that this establishment is still here. If you care about where you spend your money, find out more. And look for another place to eat, there's plenty to choose from in Nelson and without the negativity attached to them.
Stumbled across The Yellow Deli as I was walking around Nelson. Came back for breakfast the next day and enjoyed my blueberry waffles and tea while sitting around the fire.
Wow! What an absolutely delightful place! If you're passing through the area, put this place on your list of stops. The food is superbly prepared, the setting is nothing short of spectacular in all its eclectic glory, and the staff are really pleasant. Plus, they're supportive of people from all walks of life, and _open 24 hours_. Mind blown.
Great, friendly service. The bowl of sunshine was awesome. Very well priced and quality food. This religious group is based all over the world so I’ll be keeping an eye out for my next yellow deli visit ???? cheers guy ????
I came here to enjoy a lunch with my boyfriend and the server flat out ignored him and wouldn't even make eye contact with him. The server only would interact with me. He even filled up my water and left my boyfriends empty. We heard later that it is run by a cult which is very anti-LGBT and I would never have supported this place if I had known. Not to mention the service was poor.
It's run by a very repressive religious group, The Twelve Tribes. They are considered by some to be a cult. All the employees are "volunteers" so most of your money goes too main church in Tennessee to set up more communes and Yellow Delis all over the world. There are many other amazing local eateries to enjoy, and you money will actually stay in the community.
Incredible soup and sandwiches, open 24 hours, very kind service, overall great experience
Wonderfully tasting food, exceptional service, friendly staff that is pleasant to talk to. The atmosphere is very unique. The views from the peripheral tables are amazing. Will be stopping by again.
Delicious sandwiches and best desserts in Nelson! Another favourite is their chai yerba mate latte - extra tasty if you get it with soy milk. This place is a lovely hole-in-the-wall restaurant.
I've been to this place a few times, but haven't really found vegetarian options that appeal to me. The decor is pleasant and the staff are friendly, even offering free beverages, but again, nothing that I would really feel enthusiastic about. My daughter said they make great Lime Pie. She picks up a whole one whenever she visits from Vancouver.
Amazingly delicous Turkey and Lamb sandwiches. Salad was also very good. Small menu, vegan options. Great price and beautiful ambiance.
The best restaurant of the world! Every time I was passing by, I had to stop for the music, beautiful, not just the music, the atmosphere, people’s love for God is infectious, I really feel the great energy in yellow deli.
The Yellow Deli is amazing. It is quaint, adorable, and the atmosphere is very mellow. I tried the deli lamb sandwich with a cup of curried yam soup and it was amazing! This food was true comfort food and made everyone at the table feel at ease. If you find yourself in Nelson I implore you to stop at this gem for a bite.
Really nice quirky place, it is apparently open 24Hrs during the week. We went for breakfast and it was very good and very quick. The service was nice and friendly. Nice views out the front windows. It has a decking area for the warmer months.
What a nice place :) Staff is super nice! Awesome Blueberry cheesecake along with a nice cup of fresh brewed coffee.
I like the atmosphere. The menu is simple, the people are kind, the tea and chilli are hot. At 24/5, I find the hours useful too.
A charming hobbity vibe to this place with local sources of food. Delish food. The rich creamy non alcoholic pins colada is a new favourite.
Good food
My partner and I grabbed breakfast here and to our dismay we learned afterwards of the troubling truth surrounding this establishment. I would not recommend visiting this place despite the five star reviews. There are so many other options in Nelson!
The food here is very good. The servers are polite and attentive. The setting is beautiful. It is a great place to enjoy the morning, sitting outside under the trees!
This place isn't on the main street.... But it should be. The smell of the soup led us in from a block away. That is the only review needed. But if that's not enough, the rest of the food and the atmosphere is perfection of comfort food. I had a lamb sandwich and chili and I wanted to order a second helping. As is, this needs to be on your must stop eating locations!
Really delicious sandwiches! We ate ours before pictures could be taken ^^ Also amazing (non alcoholic) apple cider :D
This place has amazing sandwiches and soups. One of my go-tos when visiting Nelson
Absolutely loved it, great food, great service, and most of all a great vibe.
Definitely a go-to in Nelson. I had a waffle & she had the breakfast spinach egg bun. Both were really good & reasonably priced which is rare in Nelson. The decor was awesome - all wood cozy with a great deck. Staff was great.
Simply awesome, super location, great food, unbelievable service, awesome decor.... everything about the restaurant is outstanding. A must visit for anyone visiting Nelson.
Please don't eat here. Nelson is full of great restaurants, but this one is incredibly unethical.
Great food at very reasonable price
Great food, nice atmosphere super friendly staff and all that for more than affordable prices. Can only recommend
Best chai latte I have ever had and the most amazing cheese cake (so good that the original plan to share deserts was kiboshed after my first bite!!). You need to check this place out when you’re in Nelson BC.
Top notch place. The staff are really friendly and the food is pretty good! Hours are great (open 24hrs, except weekends). If you are in Nelson this is a must.
Good food but they are not checking Covid vaccine documents. Cashier wasn't wearing mask over his nose.
What a hidden gem. Excellent food. Very cool laid-back vibe. And it is open 24 hours. I had the rubin sandwich. Substantial in size and outstanding flavor. Real saurekraut, great corn beef and all melted together with swiss cheese. The beef chili is hearty, full of meat nicely seasoned. The decor is delightfully quaint and well done. I will be back soon.
Yellow Deli always has good, wholesome food, a pleasant, rustic atmosphere, and respectful, accommodating staff. Their portions are better than adequate and I always come away feeling fulfilled. One of the best attributes about this establishment is they are open around the clock! Except Friday evenings, when their community celebrates. The other great aspect is their prices are very reasonable!! What more could one ask for?? Well they have it!! Private alcoves to meet with friends, their front room downstairs has awesome views of Kootenay Lake, in summer there is great outdoor eating areas and in winter a cozy wood fire to warm yourself in front of! The music is light-hearted, like a renaissance fair, the servers courteous and unhurried. Stop in and see for yourself!
Really great sandwiches, unique vibe and decor. Would give 5 stars but there are things about their religious belief system which make it difficult for me to be eager about supporting them.
Great service and clean and would recommend them for lunch, brunch,or even just, home-made treats&a coffee with a friend,..
Great find in Nelson. Blueberry smoothie was on point. Roast Beef Breakfast Sandwich was exactly what I needed first thing in the morning!
such a cozy nook! open 24 hrs, 5 days a week (weekends are used for prayer and celebration). delicious food, beautiful environment, fair pricing. although, this restaurant's "owners" are a religious group, so if you're uncomfortable with religion, probably best to stay away.
This place is run by a cult (actually). Look up "Twelve Tribes Nelson". It won't take you long to read about their history of abuse.
Super cute place. The atmosphere is very fun and cozy. The food is something else. They serve mostly soup and sandwiches. Which are some of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The food is very reasonably priced. Definately would recommend.
Omgosh their dessert options are ahhhh-mazing......plus the tree house like design ❤️.......their whole menu really is fantastic and the fact that they believe in serving good food at reasonable prices makes them special
Great menu, great food, and great service! It is a lovely setting, even for Nelson, so a great place for lunch. Portions were large, but not overly so. Definitely go again.
If you visit nelson, this is a must visit. It's a great place for lunches, their sandwiches are delicious and the atmosphere is very welcoming and calming
Nice food in moderation as price and portion size.
Such wonderful food. The place also has a very unique setting to it and feels so warm and welcoming. Lovely people work here also.
I went here and ordered a salad with turkey and a honey bun. The salad was a good size but the turkey seemed processed. It really didn't have good flavour. The honey bun is literally a burger bun COVERED in butter with some honey and walnuts. It was so gross I couldn't eat it. The only reason I'd go back is to have a coffee and read a book but I will not eat here again
Really really great sandwiches
My partner and I were standing outside, checking the place out. A friendly bearded man invited us in to show us around. It had beautiful places to sit and was almost completely empty. We ordered some sweets and drinks and enjoyed the view. When we got back to stay with our host, they were quick to tell us that it is run by a religious cult. After a quick google, we found it was true; and not only that... They abuse women and children, starting at 6 months old! They will "love bomb" you, invite you in, take all of your life savings and investments, and you won't be allowed out. Sure the food & atmosphere are great, but how could you knowingly support a place like this?
What an amazing and cozy spot! Friendly and welcoming staff as well. I will definitely be back here. I had breakfast and took lunch to go.
One the coolest looking places I have ever gone into! Great food and friendly service. I cant wait to go back to beautiful Nelson and visit this place again!
I did not feel comfortable eating here. I received some weird service (and weirder looks from the male servers) and I couldn't put my finger on it until I did some more research on the "Yellow Deli" or "12 Tribes" establishments. Please look this place up before you visit (spoiler: cult)!!
All hugs. Beautiful place. Immensely wholesome food
Not for me but it's a while place to meet friend. Soup and sandwiches are good. Lots of students study here
Amazing experience going to this place. The food is delicious, the theme and decor of the restaurant is awesome and the staff is really friendly too. A must visit.
Was recommended to us and absolutely loved it! They smoke their own meat and bake their bread. Great food, nice view and good vibes.
The Yellow Deli is great! The place, people and food were all wonderful, just the parking needs a little help ????
Such a cute place to visit, with excellent staff and fresh food.
Thank you. After I nearly lost hope for bread in Canada, I've been served a very good slice of toast bread here. Oh and of course I didn't order just toast, but it came along with the best tasting lentil soup I've ever had. To top it of it was vegetarian! The taste was so good, so refined and sophisticated, that I do not have a single clue on how to prepare a soup like this without a beef stock or something similar. Thank you very much for this great taste lesson.
Good food, really cool atmosphere like all Yellow Deli’s. Service at this one was not the same as others I have been to though, but that could’ve been a one-off.
Really good food, cozy atmosphere, very good service! We have been here several times during the last few years, and it has always been great. We will be back!
Awesome little stop for your usual fare, sandwiches/soups/burgers nice that they have a few veg options and loved their hearty lentil soup. Perfect for a winter night!
Very tasty food. Laid back atmosphere. Its like a Hansel and Gretel house amongst the trees.
I love this place, the food and the people. Miss you guys. We are in Ontario (Collingwood) and we will love to see you again! Kisses and hugs from Brazilian family Danny, Flávio, Lolla, Charlotte and Chloé ♥️
Food is usually quite good, though I found a tiny piece of meat in my "vegetarian" sandwich which is a HUGE no-no. Interesting wooden theme but music is extremely annoying/tingy and is often repeated. Also is ran by a cult that I've heard the woman and children are treated badly. Hard to enjoy and support once you know that.
The restaurant has a really great feel to it and wow, the sandwiches are amazing. I ordered the Deli Rose. I was seriously impressed. It’s worth a visit. Great job.
Yoga burger (veggie) has one of the most delish veggie patties I have had. Great service and ambiance as well.
The food was delicious, the people were very thoughtful and nice, the music was unique and cool. Overall the place just had a fantastic vibe and I would go again in a heartbeat. Order the latte matte, you won't regret it and it comes with cool art.
Such good clean eating, last place we ate before heading back to Fernie, was a good way to send us on our way home. Gluten and dairy friendly!
The Absolute Best 24 hour restaurant anywhere we've ever been! We'll be eating here every visit to Nelson BC.
If you are ever in Nelson, you must try the food at the Yellow Deli. Words cannot describe how incredible the food is. It is farm to table, in which you can clearly taste the quality in the food. They also sell loaves of bread which is the best I have ever had.
This is one of our go to restaurants in Nelson. The food is always amazing, the staff is so warm and friendly and the atmosphere is super cozy. My favourite items are the Reuben sandwich and chef salad, oh and amazing chilli and soups. Well it's all good really, can't go wrong ;)
Love love love the Yellow Deli. Open sunday 12 noon to friday 12noon 24 hours. So good so fresh such lovely staff and good nutritious soups. Salads chile. Sandwiches. Best chai ever. Super good coconut cream pie. Many great places to eat in beautiful Nelson. My favorite. If your alone or with friends. I highly recommend the quaint atmosphere and great food at very reasonable prices. Large servings so yummy????
