Wonderful!
Had there pizza off of skip the dishes. Not sure if it was becuse of the delivery or not, but it was a little doughy. BUT, if you like spice get the butter chicken or the Canadian. Sauce and toppings were incredible. I will be coming back.
I came to Naniamo first time and randomly found this place for lunch. Amazing ambience, service and staff. Coming to food, delicious. Loved it!!! ???? Must visit.
Food and service was excellent. The tandoori fish was the best I've ever had and naan was the BEST.
15 $ for lunch buffet and they have goat curry!!!
called them like 100 times to order but they dont even pick up phone
Best Indian food I've ever ordered, plus the staff were very welcoming & friendly.
It was closed at 2 and they say it's open from 10 to 10
Food is great. The restaurant itself needs some attention and upkeep. The food is definitely worth it.
Awesome...felt like India in Canada
Not authentic Indian food taste, I went there times and all three times they really disappointed me with there service and quality of food, the WORST Rice pudding I ever had in my life, go and eat somewhere else don't go there and waste your moo by.
I went alone. The food price was reasonable. What I ordered was very less and just for me and I was very happy in their service. The quality of the food was superb. The staff was very attentive. She got my food very quickly. I saw there two people ordering some three or four dishes and they asked it for a take away. They got it in twenty minutes which was very fast. I would recommend to all of my friends who likes Indian cuisine.
One of my favourite places to go for Indian food in Nanaimo! Their Palak Paneer and Shahi Paneer will forever be my go to foods at that restaurant. The Onion Bhaji is always a favourite to start with as well with mint chutney! Service is a little slow but the food makes up for it just fine.
I dont reccomend the butter chicken! Pay $16 for sauce and 4 chunks of chicken, or $16 for sauce and veggies, no rice, nothing, we made our own rice and were still hungry, so not worth the price at all, go elsewhere
Great curry but appetizers and poppadoms were lukewarm.
So Happy to see a quality Indian restaurant in downtown Nanaimo! Also, love the venue, they host for parties as well! Everything I have eaten has been phenomenal!!! Thank-you!
Really great food at reasonable prices.
This historic location is now a friendly and delicious Indian restaurant. They kindly customized a dish for me to exclude an allergy, and recommended vegetarian alternatives, which are always great. We have often gotten takeout here, too. Parking is on the street, but we've never had a problem getting a close spot, despite being right next to other busy locations, even during dinner rush hour. Easy walking distance around the downtown area. We've never had a lineup or wait for a table, as the location is large enough to prevent that. We have become regulars.
good food and ambience..
Excellent food
It took literally 45 minutes for our food to be ready, and when we took it home and tried it, it was completely bland in one dish, and grossly sweet in another dish! We had to recook everything to get it up to par! Garbage food, and while the staff is nice, the wait time was ludicrous. Go to Manvirro's Indian Grill instead.
Nothing can beat the taste of Butter Chicken they make. It is my all-time favorite.
The service was very helpful and loved the food was super tasty!
Delicious food, good service& clean resturant
Good Indian Food... Friendly staff.
Good food :)
Amazing tasting food, Large portions, lots of meat and veggies, but service was slow. We arrived an hour before closing, with very few other tables occupied, and ordered what we thought would be enough for us. More than an hour later, our meals finally arrived, but we then had to ask for rice. The meat dishes were each enough for two, and the spicing was delicious. The dal was the best I've ever tasted. And the Nan was beautifully done. I'd go there again, even with the slow service.
Mmmm, very delicious lunch buffet. Their naan and rice pudding are top notch. Lot of vegetarian options in addition to butter chicken and beef.
Ten of us went for dinner tonight. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much. The food was wonderfully spiced, well cooked and were exceptional. This was the first time that any of us had eaten there, and we were not disappointed. We will all be back again.
Dinner
Love the food gets REALLY hot if you want it to be.
Excellent Indian cuisine.
Tried everything on the buffet. Yum!
Awesome Food, Service Excellent too. Go for it.
Some of the best chicken korma I've had in a long time. Will absolutely be ordering again. **Update** samosas are excellent and their vegetable pakora is so delicious and not heavy at all.
Went there tonight since the restaurant we intended to go to for dinner was closed. I'm glad we did! I ordered the medium chicken curry with onion naan and it was delicious. The portions were good-sized and the restaurant is cozy. One of the waitresses seemed new but that's not a huge deal, she is learning! We will definitely come back :)
Meal type
Good food. Simple Indian food. Nothing very fancy though.
Slow service. There were only 2 servers, one was talking to her friends sitting at the other table for almost 10-15 mins. And the other server was helping the guests and trying to manage the restaurant.
Husband ate here yesterday, he had the buffet, it was his only food of the day and he got horrible food poisoning. This happened on May 3rd, 2019.
Very good food at decent price.
Amazing food and friendly staff
(Translated) the waiters were wrong in our order and I did not appreciate the chai tea. Otherwise the quantities were sufficient and the place rather calm (Original) les serveurs se sont trompés dans notre commande et je n'ai pas apprécié le chai thé. Sinon les quantités étaient suffisantes et l'endroit plutôt calme
I went in and requested buffet to go, as I occasionally order there (last week included). Food is average for Nanaimo, just happens to be close to my office. The guy today told me it was not available for take out, and never has been. Bull-ish! You sold me take out 6 days ago. I will never come in to tandoori junction again because the staff are lying jerks. Spend your cash elsewhere folks.
Ordered a chicken karai takeway. Taste is good.
Delicious food and decent prices. We often have a night out here to enjoy some authentic Indian Cuisine. I have had similar dishes from other more expensive restaurants around the island that have not matched. Great convenient location in Nanaimo's downtown. Try the Palak Paneer!
Really bad experience with Tandoor junction. They have a reputation of serving old and left over food and they definitely live up to that reputation. Only go to their if you have no choice.
Yum!
Probably the best Indian restaurant in town.... we loved the food
Excellent service and delicious food!
Our first visit is our last. Having been told our order would take 25 minutes, we were made to wait an extra 30 minutes in the restaurant while the waiter told us it would be ready "in a minute." I understand that sometimes you get super busy. If so, it's only fair to phone back and tell your customers that their food will take longer, and it's not cool to lie to their face about how long it will take. The food was pretty good, but didn't erase the bad taste in our mouths at your awful service.
This place needs more 5 star reviews! Where do I begin? We love our Indian. We have a hard time on the island not having a lot of options like we did in the last place we lived. But as soon as we ate here we are hooked! We travel to this place whenever we need our 'fix.' They are actually authentic here, the owner is a very nice guy, everyone that has served us has been awesome. But the food!! We never get the buffet because we like our food hot and spicy and I love a good chicken tandoori.. I get it here! The meat is always so tender! So flavourful. My husband always orders something different and everything has been so delicious. We even brought some family of ours here and everyone loved the food. No need to go anywhere else if quality and authenticity is what you are after. Can't wait to go back! The best on the island.
Food is not worth the money, service is extremely slow.
The good was great! The atmosphere was awesome! You gotta eat here.
Hidden gem, the lunch buffet is the most bang for your buck Great Indian food, they have buffet on weekdays which is about the same price as an entree. Highly recommend going then to try everything
We booked a table for 8 adults and two kids. A variety of starters and main courses were ordered and the staff were attentive and informative. Everything was brought to the table warm and as expected, rice and Nan breads cooked to perfection. Spice levels were as described and within the tolerances of everyone concerned. The only negative aspect of our meal was that the restaurant wasn't busier and as such would solidify it's place in the community for years to come...we want to keep coming back for as long as possible! Highly recommended for the awesome staff, food and portion size...book your dinner date asap!
Had lamb coconut and potato naan. Both are exceptional. Highly recommended.
Favourite restaurant! By far. Best Indian cuisine and love the atmosphere. All the staff are super friendly - I've never had a bad experience there.
Good smorg
Nice place, definitely could use a make over but the food is nice. Odd that the coffee is more expensive than at Starbucks though.
Food was delicious and the server was very helpful and service was good
great food,
Amazing food, prices are very fair. Customer service is absolutely top notch. My wife, our kids and I love eating here =)
Rude and unfriendly customer service.
Loved the food. My sister and I shared a bunch of amazing dishes. The appetizer platter was delicious, just wish there was two samosas instead of one, since we were sharing. The lamb vindaloo melted in your mouth. This was the best indian food ive had in nanaimo since Amrikko's burned down. Will be coming back.
Taste Excellent ???? worth the prize
This is one of my favourite places for Indian food! I've been there for dinner and the lunch buffet and really enjoyed both. The lamb korma is great.
Yes Michigan it isssss for indian biriyani and stuff it has nice flavor and nice quality of food.
Total waste of money ! Ordered butter chicken, fish pakora, tandoori chicken, fish chilli, garlic naan, paneer chilli. My 9 year old comment about butter chicken and rice : “it is like eating rice with water” Owner called me Last minute before pick up and said one of the items is unavailable. Fish chilli and paneer chilli were sweet and taste like sweet Chinese sauce. Garlic naan had no taste. Not a single dish was good Indian species flavour. Do not waste your money. Gave 1 star because no lower option .
I love love love their food!!!!always perfectly cooked the naan bread is so perfect no lumps no clumps of unmixed ingredients. The sauces are so smooth and perfectly seasoned the meat is always fall apart in your mouth tender and your stomach is never disappointed. Definitely a trip to flavor town here. Mmmm.
Nice food with awesome service!
Good food, good price,good service....
Great food, great service, huge portions!!!
Delicious food, excellent customer service, well presented
Good atmosphere. Food if a bit salty
Really, really nice food. So lovely to have a genuinely beautiful restaurant experience on the island. Our server was perfect, unobtrusive, genuine and on point. All this for the price of lightly upscale. So much nicer than under (or over) paying for a far lesser experience. $15 dishes, including rice. Taking home left overs.
Foodgasm of Indian pleasure. Lunch buffet was amazing.
Great food, big helpings, good value.
About the food we ordered Shahi paneer and explicitly told him needed Extra spicy and it turned out to be sweet. Out of the 2 tandoori Tori’s one was burnt. The best part of the entire visit was the green chutney which was amazing. Giving 2 stars as the food ordered was not what we expected to be and he didn’t offer to make it again.
Nice place to go out for both lunch and dinner. Good prices, taste good and the service is very nice.
Great friendly service!! Great food...atmosphere was beautiful. Best service ai have had since being in Nanaimo for 3.5 years!!! Great food in your buffet!!!
Delicious food, joyful service and great setting. Prices are good and great for sharing and big groups! The music is sometimes hit or miss but the food makes up for it. I wouldnt recommend the chai but their onion naan is the best ive ever tasted! Im so thankful to have this restaurant downtown
Go here if you'd like to stand in the doorway with nobody around to help you for 5 minutes. I'd recommend using that time to walk up the street to Flavours of India though. They actually, you know, care that you're there. My guess is this place will be closed soon.
I would rate this restaurant barely 2 stars. I have been to this restaurant twice and honestly second time I just gave a second chance because many a times up side down happens. But honestly food is very very average..and quantity very less and compsted to the price...comeon if u charge a price provide the quality if not atleast quantity Wont recommends this restaurant being myself indian and a big time foodie.
Unfriendly. Unspicey. White.
I ordered the chicken tikka and garlic naan bread. The chicken was good, although I asked for medium-spicy and I think I got mild. The vegetables that came with the chicken looked a bit wilted, and the naan had big chunks of garlic sticking out of it. However, although the food looked a little weird, everything tasted OK. I suppose this isn't bad for $21. I wish the chicken had more of a side with it (maybe a little rice?), but it is what it is.
Excellent food. The best Indian food in Nanaimo.
Dine in
Nasty! Wow, we ordered a few dishes off the menu. The food came out luke warm and it was obvious it was very very old. The veggies and beans were super mushy and had no flavor...looked and tasted as if they had been around for days, reheated, cooled and reheated time and time again. All three of us experienced diarrhea after this meal...some of us more explosively than others. Really disappointed.
The food is pretty good, unfortunately it can take some time. Last time I went, it was empty but still took time to get orders in, and drinks. I also got takeout, and had to wait. So, food is standard but don't expect the best or fastest service.
This is a junction I'd stop here.
$15 buffet can't beat it, great authentic Indian
This place is the best on the island
Food is okay and service is not bad
The food is really good. It's kinda on the expensive side but the food is so good that it's totally worth it. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is really good as well!!
The best restaurant serving excellent Indian cuisine at affordable prices. Visit here if you are a lover of Indian food.
Tandoori junction Indian Cuisine serves the most delicious food in Nanaimo.
There food look like 2.or 3 days olds Mutton briyaani Waste of money
The buffet menu had awesome dishes with great taste and affordable prices..
The best Indian restaurant of the three in Nanaimo. Their weekday lunch buffet is of course a great spread, but I can't begin to tell how yummy some of the other dishes on the menu are - the chilly paneer, dal makhani, Navratna korma are all super delicious. Thanks to Tandoori Jn, I don't miss home food here in Canada!
last year I visited this restaurant the food was like 2/3 days old...now after a year I wanted to give them another shot, I ordered 3 dishes and guess what... their food was so bad I just threw it out due to my concern I might get food poisoning...the chicken was so hard you could bang it on table and it would bounce back....terrible food...be very cautious with this guys....last time for me for sure. I called them to see their explanation, and they were saying it was fresh come on ....a fresh food is not that hard that you cant chew....terrible service...lack of responsibility... I told them I will report them to food inspection authority and that's what will happen...someone needs to look their kitchen and what they serve people...bunch of thieves and irresponsible people feeding your customers with old food...how can you do that and expect and accept also tips??? please please people drive few km and go visit Spice Hut in Ladysmith much much better food....and so fresh its juicy.....
Be it quality, quantity, taste, or the price of dishes, this place can be put in the first place. Must come here if you are fond of Indian foods.
Food was tasty...ambience was good...went to pick up food so in a quick glance felt good...a decent place with ambience of indian theme..Nice...4 star...thanks.
Great food and great service....
Amazing Food and service is great ! Even when you order 10minutes till closing !
Good options
Food rocks! Servers are really nice. Lunch buffet is very reasonable and offers slight changes day to day. Handicap parking right outside. Full bar.
Delicious garlic naan!
Awesome customer service and love the food taste...!!
I've eaten here many times but have never tried Take-out. The food is always first rate; rich flavours, fascinating aromas, somewhat slow but acceptable service, so I wasn't sure what to expect when we placed a take-out order over the phone. I was told it would be ready in 20min so I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived 20min later that the order was just coming out of the kitchen. We ordered the Lamb Rogan, Butter Chicken, Chana Masala, and the Raita. With the order of plain Basmati rice, the bill came to $48. The portions were large enough to feed 4 people and the food was excellent as always. I have always found the servers friendly and helpful in making new choices off the menu. I have also been assured that most of the items are gluten-free.
The customer service was terrible, we got a very unwelcoming feeling when going in right from the start. The butter chicken was mediocre and the other dish was the wrong spice (we asked for mild which it clearly wasn't) when mentioning this to our waitress she simply said she would ask the chef if it was mild then brought out a bowl of yogurt telling her to mix it with the dish a few minutes later. When explained to that it tasted different (as she has ordered it many times) the waitress just laughed before walking away. The only time we got any service was when we asked ourselves (we were the only two in the restaurant at the time) most of the time the waitress was in the kitchen joking with the kitchen staff leaving us feeling awkward when trying to look for her. Won't be going again in the future.
Tandoori Junction on Wallace @ Commercial. I was in there and had the lamb Vindaloo, my friend had the Afghani chicken. Topped it off with a genuine Indian Pale Ale.. superb! I highly recommend it..
Love love LOVE this place for noon buffet!! Food and service are excellent. However, takeout is disappointing. We ordered butter chicken, & for $16, there was only a couple pieces of chicken in the whole container. Eat in only!!
Hearty portions Great Service Pretty good value for money.
Order mattar paneer through skip the dishes today, it was super salty ,no taste , uncooked green peas , definitely not coming back .
We had a smashing lunch of veggie manchurian, fried rice, and paneer biryani here and every one of them was spot on. Light, flavorful, and most importantly, not swimming in ketchup or oil. They got it SO right despite being located on a far flung island (at least by my personal non-islandy standards).
indian Panjabi resturant. The picure of the golden temple is really good.
Great good and friendly service
Wrost service ever.... restaurant has very bad service. This is my worst experience ever. we ask for naan bread and we were 5 people but she gave only 3 pieces of naan and nobody did quality checks or ask for water nothing.
Great food and impeccable service! Always a treat to eat here.
Great food at a great price. Best Indian in Nanaimo
Worst Indian food I've ever tasted. Lacked in flavor. Butter chicken didn't taste good at all. Had a lingering seafood aroma/subtle flavor to it. Not sure what that was about. Ordered hot but didnt even taste the heat at all. Mild would be over stepping the description here. If I could rate this 0 stars I would. We were trying a different restaurant tonight but i will be taking my wallet elsewhere....back on over to gateway to India. If you haven't tried it I'd really recommend Gateway to India. Not this place. Never this place.
Best Indian food i have ever had.. being a vegetarian I have always got same flavour in all the dishes from other restaurants, there every dish taste different and delicious ???? tried almost all of there veggie dishes my fav ones are aloo gobi, spinach paneer and malai kofta❤️ Give it a try
If you want delicious food in Nanaimo, then you must visit this place for sure.
Excellent meal! The buffet wasn't up and running unfortunately, but we ordered the Chicken Tikki sizzler and Beef Curry with rice and garlic naan off the menu and it was awesome! Despite the lack of buffet (temporary situation) and lack of parking, we'll definitely go back.
Amazing food and customer service❤️ tried chicken tikka best tikka I have ever had
Love the expanded buffet
We ordered food and then ordered pizza from Domino's after testing their food. Nothing was even close to good.
Amazing place to get quality curry at a reasonable price and to try out different kinds of them buffet style. It even includes gulab jamun in the buffet.
One of the worst places! Saw rats everywhere
Excellent quality Indian food. We’ve ordered a few times since moving to Nanaimo last summer and can’t wait to eat there again.
I was looking for a small banquet hall in Nanaimo that offers decent amenities at a mere fraction of what others typically charge in the market and I finally decided to zero in on this one.
I always get take out and order spinach, chicken Tikka, beef curry and absolutely love their food! Great portions at a reasonable price and delicious
Good food
Good Indian
I came from Alberta and tried the food here and honestly this is an Excellent place for authentic Indian food , great service and I am a permanent customer for them whenever I visit here
If ever you are not intending to open or cannot open the store... PLEASE ... Update the status online ... We tried visiting the store twice but I guess due to the sudden downpour of snow or some other reasons it was closed. (Feb 11&12)
Very Good overall. Reasonably priced, really good food in good portion size. A bit empty the day I was there.
naan not even cooked. burnt and toasty like normal naan, however very doughy and heavy like frozen uncooked pizza dough. the daal makhani was unlike any i have tasted before, lacking the typical flavour and covered in a spicy flavour. i am not new to eating indian food. my coworkers have shown me the best the west coast has to offer. this was subpar and nearly double the cost of all restaurants in vancouver or surrey.
Service is ok Kitchen management is rude. Even though food is good the hospitality is not professional enough to enable us savor the flavours
Delicious food. We’ve never actually eaten inside the restaurant so I can’t comment on that but we have ordered delivery many many times and it has always been amazing. Best butter chicken ever and everything else we’ve ever ordered has been awesome as well. They even threw in a free dessert with a nice little note on it when we ordered on my husband’s birthday which was nice.
Nothing very special to begin with. Basically an average restaurant with average food.
Good food... Friendly staff
Great place for a small party
Excellent service, Good food, Generous portions. Recommended
Food was great! Portions way better than Gateway and prices about the same. Waitress wasn't great. Obviously no experience or training.
The food was good, but the quantity was minimal. We paid $60 and barely got any food. Save your money this place is a rip-off.
Lunch buffet was delicious
Never went there, just walked by. I've heard food things though.
Good food- especially the korma
Food is fine not very delicious. We ordered garlic naan, manchurian and channa bhatura. Garlic naan was very dry and there was big chunks of garlic on the naan. Manchurian was worst and without any taste. Very bad gravy. Channa bhatura was average.
Lamb Vindaloo and naan was overcooked, raita was very runny, rice undercooked, not close to extra spicy as asked and delivery driver refused to enter the apartment building.
Awesome food.
Hit and miss with this place. First time I went there I was super impressed with food, however since then it's been one bad experience after another so I've stopped going. Staff seem unhappy too.
Cool place good food
wayyy to over priced
Amazing food, be ready for a serious food baby! Service is fast and so friendly. Highly recommended!
DELICIOUS!!!! Best Indian food in Nanaimo. The food is exquisite, the staff are so friendly, if you like Indian food....this is the place go! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nobody is there at the front desk most of the times guest have to go back after 20 minutes
Nice location and good food
Food was average
Food awesome. Lovely sever studying at university. Great!
Don't stick to their timings Walked in at 8:30 pm saturday where it says open till 10. Waited for 15 mins inside for them to say we are closed. This isn't the first time either.
Great food and excellent service.
Enjoyed the buffet. Good selection of traditional Indian dishes
Best in town
Food was decent but service was lacking
Picked up take out this evening our first time trying Tandoori Junction. We ordered hot Lamb Vindaloo, mild chicken tika, Butter chicken, garlic nan, vegetable Byrani, dal also the mixed appetizer plate. Since moving to Nanaimo 5 years we have really missed a great Indian Restaurant. Now we have one. By far the best take out for taste, freshness and value. We could easily have ordered two entrees for the four of us - lots of left overs for lunch tomorrow.
Very delicious food ✌️????????
Good ethnic food. Like grandma used to make
East Indian food, need I say more?!
Ten of us turned up on a Sunday evening without a reservation. No problem getting a table. The wait for the food was a bit long but it was worth the wait. All dishes were quite large and well presented. Vindaloo, ordered Indian hot, was well spiced. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Will be back
Really bland food and the service was almost no existent .
Poor quality food, could tell was just reheated and served. Skip the dishes really big let down ????
Service
U should provide halal meat too..
The customer service was awesome...she was Soo nice n kind...I recommend everyone to go there :)
The food, ambience and service is amazing????????
