We recently went on a family camping excursion to Rathtrevor Beach on Vancouver Island. We've been camping a number of times before but never with the added bonus of having an Airstream. I've always loved seeing them on the road or parked at adjacent camp sites and have dreamed of one day camping in that kind of luxury. After getting my wish, I have to say, our Bijou glamping experience did not disappoint, it was unforgettable! The trailer itself is immaculate and very tastefully appointed not to mention all of the extra thoughtful touches that Tracy and Duncan put into the experience. They truly went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and eclectic. The campsite was already set up when we arrived with chairs, a tablecloth on the picnic table and a bottle of chilled water and snacks waiting for us. I truly felt as if every need was anticipated. It felt homey and welcoming from the start. We have already started planning for next summers "Glamping" trip and are hopeful that Ruby Airstream can be a part of our adventures once more.

I don’t camp but, this is a whole other thing…..I arranged a trip up-island early in June as a surprise for my husband’s birthday and it involved staying a couple of nights just south of Campbell River at Salmon Point RV Park in Ruby Airstream. This trailer is like nothing I’ve seen! The owners (Tracy and Duncan Nice of Bijou Glamping) made sure that everything we needed for a comfy stay was on hand – the kitchen is fully equipped, it has a decent sized refrigerator and even a double sink with a tiny dish drainer! The bathroom has a shower including microfibre towels and lovely English soap. There is plenty of storage and a comfortable double bed up against wrap-around shaded window. It was amazing to fall asleep looking out at the night sky knowing that anyone passing by could not look in…I even managed to see a cruise ship float by as I drifted off! Salmon Point RV Park has an on site restaurant that lured us a few of times – good food and pleasant service, we were able to sit out on the patio both times. Never thought I would say this, but I look forward to the next time I get to go “glamping”!

What a great camping weekend we had in ‘Ruby' the gorgeous airstream enjoying the BC provincial campground at Rathtrevor in June 2014. I have had a fascination for decades with the airstream trailers so it was a fabulous treat to be the first campers in this shiny new Flying Cloud model. The beds were comfy and the bedding was soooo cozy we slept beautifully. The fridge is a very nice size holding all our food for the weekend; we had lights and water when needed. This is the only way to camp. Tracy and Duncan Nice of Bijou Glamping did a great job of anticipating everything we would need for the kitchen indoors and out, even providing BBQ and camp chairs and prepping the first campfire for us. Thanks again for a wonderful getaway weekend. We are checking our calendar for another opportunity to head out in Ruby.
