Skinny's Smoke House was a really awesome Barbecue experience, the drinks were flowing smoothly and quickly, service was exceptional there, the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. I'd personally reccomend the three for three deal, I had some Brisket, it was amazing, Brisket, Pulled pork and Sausage. They have an awesome selection of sides, I love the tater tots pie and the Baked beans.

Wow, we are traveling across Canada and found this place across from our hotel. The food was amazing and had to pick up some of the BBQ sauce and spices to take with us. Definitely would visit this place again and again. A must stop for anyone transiting by and wants a good Smoke House experience.

It seems a common complaint, but the Sausage absolutely could have used a smokier flavour. Beyond that, I love what has been done with the whole restaurant since my last visit. It's much more homely feeling, with just as good of food. I absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone who likes barbecue or southern food. And ABSOLUTELY get the cornbread. Definitely the best I've had at any Medicine Hat restaurant.

First time at new location and overall very good. While visiting here in Medicine Hat we wanted to check out their new location - nicely situated and so "new". Server was right at the front to greet and seat us, and there was ample space with good lighting and a casual vibe. Our server was friendly and helpful, we never felt neglected. We ordered the "three and three" combo which was more than enough for two people for $20. Our meat choices were beef brisket, sausage, and St. Louis ribs. The highlight was the brisket, as a fellow pitmaster I know how hard it can be to achieve a tender and juicy brisket but they nailed it! Fork tender and fatty, really good. Could have been smokier for my taste. Sausage was tasty, again I prefer more smoke. Ribs had a nice smoke ring but were not as tender as I would have expected. There were a variety of house made sauces and I liked the coffee flavor the best. It would be nice to have a bolder sweeter sauce option too. Cornbread was really nice too. Overall a success and we wish you guys all the very best!!

Seriously amazing beef brisket! Everything else was very tasty too. I would give five stars if it were served on proper plates. I would prefer not to produce that much waste with a meal, and it would be much more fun to eat with real cutlery instead of flimsy plastic forks. I would still recommend it as it is a great place and I will come back when in town! Update for clarification: I visited in July 2017, so I am glad to hear about the news! Thank you!

Soup, cornbread and meats were spot on! Brisket pulled apart with a fork it was beautiful. Sides need work. They’re almost there. Beans were missing bacon and a little under cooked for my taste, and the Smokey garlic smash was fried potato chunks, no garlic no smoke.

Cornbread was good, wings were good. 2x2 Portion size was ridiculously small and brisket looked like a dried up piece of my moms roast... waitress was awesome and said that there was a new cook. Presented two grown men, both had 1-one inch wide slice of brisket, with one slice of brisket to make up for the half sausage link and one slice on brisket they had each. Wont be recommending this place. Even though it came very highly recommended

Interesting that the beer selection is posted on the closed circuit tvs. If you miss the screen you are waiting for you have to wait for it to come up again. They should just get tablets and leave them on the table until one is ready to order. My whole table had dry BBQ which was disappointing seeing as the price was a bit more.

The food is amazing I've been three times however, the third time there was a serious deviation in the quality of the food. Not in regards to the quality of the ingredients but the food was undercooked and dry. For example the brisket which is normally tender and moist was dry and tough and the ribs needed a lot longer to cook properly, the dry rub was still raw. The third time was a Friday night when it was busy I'm guessing they ran out of food earlier in the day and had to ramp the temps up to cook faster. I'd recommend going on a Tuesday where everything was perfect.

Been here a couple of times and each time very impressed Brisket and wings with the Alberta white sauce are my favorite as well the tater tot pie, the cornbread and poutine with waffle fries and burnt ends as well. Cant really go wrong with any choices. One of the best places to eat anywhere in Alberta not just medicine hat. Lastly the prices are extremely reasonable for the portions you get.

Passing through on our way to Regina. As a true Texan this was a decent barbecue joint. Brisket was tender (although not as good as Texas). Barbecue sauce was thick and bland, a disappointment, but brisket could hold its own. Loved the pickles and onions (refreshing) and the sweet potatoe fries with chipotle mayo was the best I have ever tasted. Ceasar salad was really delicious too. Coleslaw was decent and a nice selection of beers on tap. I would love to see some better options for BBQ sauce and real ice tea. Service was outstanding and I would come again.

Really good food and friendly staff both times I went. Overall, the BBQ is above average but not excellent. Have definitely had better. The brisket and pulled pork were a bit dry. The wings were good but a little small. Sausage was good, didn't try the smoked chicken. Definitely get the tater tot dish for a side. Add the corn bread and you've got a winning plate. Would come again for sure.

We ordered two full racks with the three sides for take out and were very disappointed in their so called "St Louis Ribs". Very poorly trimmed as the brisket bone was still on a lot of pieces. The ribs may have walked by the smoker but did not spend any time in it. I don't mind a little tug on the bone but these I could not get the meat off - very poorly done. Potato salad is an aquired taste; but not ours. The baked beans were great as was the cornbread with honey butter.

We went for the first time to the Box Springs location. The location seems good but we did have some problems with the presentation of the meal. It was delivered on a cafeteria tray with the sides in cardboard trays as you would get fries in at the rink. The problem our group had was the meat dishes were put directly on the tray with just the paper liner. I know the trays may be washed but it just does not give a good presentation. Maybe consider putting the meat in the cardboard trays as well. Another thing we found confusing and so did the table next to us is it is not clear is that if you order Meat by the LB then the sides are extra. Another suggestion I would have is to increase the size of the drink mugs. I understand for Alcoholic drinks the size is limited but for water and soft drinks I would suggest larger. Now for the food no one enjoyed the potato salad as the remark was too smokey and the opinion on the slaw was to vingerey . I spend lots of time in South Carolina, Virginia and Florida and most Southern preference for Slaw is creamy and sweet as for the Potato salad I would recommend no smoke maybe added as a request. With the meat it was good but not all liked the Cherry Wood smoke some found it to strong. With the sauce I would also recommend that there be a sweet, Regular and spicy option as everyone has their own preference. I hope to return and hope that some of the suggestions are considered since I do enjoy Barbeque but most in this area feel Tony R's is Barbque.

So good. Get the the three and three: fatty brisket which melts in the mouth, not chewy at all, ribs and pulled pork. Love the house bbq sauce which I add to each mouthful. For sides get the meaty smoky pit smoked beans, fries and cucumber and tomato salad to cleanse the pallet. Also comes with some delicious pickled cucumber. I had the southern slaw before and wasn't a fan, too much vinegar in that for me. But I love this place.

Firstly, I'm a very infrequent red meat eater. Secondly, I'm English. Went here with some work colleagues who live barbecue. We shared a poutine, burnt ends and fried pickles for starters. The burnt ends were gorgeous. Very crispy on the outside and lovely lean meat. Some fat was present which I removed but my friends were more than happy to eat theirs. Had the "The Burger Yo" for my main and it exceeded my expectation massively. I've never had Canadian corned beef (which was stacked on top of the patty and smothered in cheese) and it was like a religious experience. Glorious. The whole thing was amazing. I had the beans (can't remember what they called them) as a side and they were smokey as hell and had pulled pork mixed in with them which I didn't expect So overall, the staff were super friendly and the meal was one of the tastiest I've ever eaten. I'll definitely come back.

Don't trust the reviews... I've been to over 100 rib and smokehouses over North America. This place is near the bottom... I ordered the 3 meat combo with potato salad, cornbread and slaw.. brisket, ribs and pulled pork.. The pulled pork was just the meat super dry and shoved at the bottom of the plate ( horrible ) I added their sauces and still didn't help.. The ribs were the same super dry and over seasoned.. and I only got 3 ribs when the lady at the front said you'd get 5.. Brisket was all fat with only a bit of meat near the edge.. Potato salad was interesting as was the slaw.. maybe just trying to be to different ? Hated them both. The one good thing was their corn bread ! Great tasting and nice butter touch.. I was gunna order more but was so disappointed with everything I just wanted to leave.. The worst thing that got me was as I entered I would assume the owner in all skinny BBQ gear stood at the door ( didn't open it ) never said hi or can I help you .. just stared outside ... I looked back and there was nothing outside.. 5 minutes goes by and he is still staring outside .. not a word .. I'm a paying customer can you help me take my money in exchange for your food !! The lady at the register was super. Nice as was the Scottish cook in the back.. but that guy staring out into yonder not acknowledging any customers or helping his staff .. rude .. In conclusion I find these reviews dated and old.. which were just like their meat served daily.. Buyer beware !!

Great service unfortunately the food was not great burnt ends were over sauced couldnt taste the meat, brisket was bland and under done, ribs and premium sausage were over powered by chili powder, Coleslaw tasted like mustard couldnt taste anything but mustard, beans were over powered by chili powder and over cooked, cornbread was beyond dry, the brisket poutine had so much bbq sauce on it that was all you could taste. The deep fried dill pickles were good. They did try and reduce my bill but I wouldnt let them as there service was great.

The food's great but only if you can get it. Grand Opening night, we waited just over an hour. A long time, but fair enough for a busy night. When it came, though, it had breaded toppings. I was really clear that I have celiac disease and get wicked sick if I eat gluten. Server was great, manager didn't really care that much, but said she'd have the replacement out in "about five minutes." Twenty-five minutes later, I got my meal in a to-go container, since everyone else at the table was done eating. When the bill came, they had charged me full price for everything. Great food will only take you so far if you don't give a damn about your customers' experience. Very disappointing and frustrating. Would NOT recommend Skinny's to anyone with any kind of allergies.

I had an extremely disappointing meal at Skinny's. I have lived in Texas for a year and know what good BBQ tastes like, even bad BBQ. This is neither, it was awful. The brisket was extremely dry, zero moisture left. The "premium sausage" was also extremely dry. Luckily I had their sub-par BBQ sauce to try to soak the meat in. They also didn't have any pickles.... What is BBQ without pickles. The service was also extremely slow and inattentive. I do not reccommend this at all. No idea how the reviews are so good

Went there August 9th, invited friends for dinner looking forward to some great BBQ. The service was friendly and courteous. We chose the 3 plus 3, the sides where excellent, not the meat! Thought we'd go there for some succulent BBQ. What we got was pulled pork that was so dry and overcooked it almost hurt swallowing it, same story with the chicken wings, bone dry meat, cooked to tinder likely all day long, I'd be ashamed to sell something like this. My wife wanted brisket, sold out, chose ribs instead, sorry sold out too. What BBQ place has no meat at dinner time?? We would have been happier with delicious A&W spicy chicken burgers and it would not have set us back $160.00!! People, check out all the 1star reviews , they have a thing in common, the food is severely overlooked. They have no idea what this is supposed to taste like. If you know good BBQ you will be disappointed.

The brisket is amazing, only made better when paired with ribs. The dry rub on the ribs was flavourful, and I highly recommend the gluten free coffee flavoured BBQ sauce. Our order came fairly quickly, and paired really well with the ice cold draught served to us at the bar while we watched the Toronto vs NYC football game on the numerous TV's. Highly recommended! My husband and I went for a date for lunch, and showed up at 11. We were the only ones in there, and it took our server a while to take our order for food. The food was fantastic, but again, our server didn't stop in to check on us until we had completely finished our food. We weren't offered dessert, so when I asked her for the dessert menu, she went to grab something, and came back to verbally tell us the three options they had. We ordered the brownie pie? A $7 piece of hard brownie (more like fudge) with a cookie crust and some aerosol whipped cream on top. I ended up having to grab my own water from the tray of water glasses because she hadn't stopped by again to check on us. A lovely gentleman brought us our bill at the end. Great food. Crummy service.

Just had a work lunch, food was fantastic and service was really bad, out of the four staff only one waitress (unfortunately not ours) was working. Our waitress disappeared for the entire meal, asking us how it looked and did we want the bill, there was a bearded guy, oblivious to the waiting tables ( too busy taking pictures of sandwiches for social media and watching speeding cars out of the window) and another lady in pink jeans working on her laptop, to her defense, she did decide to help after all the food orders started pilling up and as the food was getting cold, thought she better help. Skinny's Smoke House catered our wedding in Elkwater, AB on July 22nd, 2017. We had tried their food at numerous weddings we had attended and absolutely loved the taste, quality, and selection of food they offered. They came highly recommended by many of our friends so it was an easy choice for us to select them to cater our wedding - and we are so grateful they did! We went with the pick-up package and were going to use a delivery service to bring their food, along with our midnight lunch from another company out to Elkwater. Our worst fear - the food not showing up, was confirmed at 5:30pm on our wedding day. A half hour before supper was to be served. Luckily, Skinny's was on top of this dilemma and called us immediately when the food was not picked-up by our delivery service. They saved the day for us when they not only quickly sprung into action to deliver the food - but also picked up our midnight lunch from another company as well! This restaurant not only has the best tasting food in Medicine Hat but also has a deep investment in making their customers happy. The delicious food that was served at our wedding was enjoyed by all with numerous compliments. We can't recommend them enough whether it's to cater your big event or a night out for supper. Thank you so much to Skinny's for saving our wedding day and making our supper one to remember :)

Tonight was our first time trying this restaurant and omg I can't say enough about it. My husband got a 3 meat 3 side plate so we could sample as much as possible. All of the meats are to die for with optional BBQ sauces on the side so you can control your flavour. They didn't need BBQ sauce but I couldn't resist trying them (I mean coffee BBQ sauce....who wouldn't). The staff told me that the sauces were made in house and they have bottled versions for a very reasonable price if you love them as much as I did. The ribs were so tender! Not skimpy on meat at all, which I find is sometimes the case at other places. The pulled pork was delicious and also melt in your mouth. But omg...... like seriously omg! That brisket though..... to die for.... also, best Mac n cheese I've had in my life. The staff were so friendly and awesome and their kids plates for $5 were awesome and super filling for my boys! I will be back over and over again!

Great BBQ in Medicine Hat! We found this place by accident and it was so quick and delicious, that we had to visit again on a return trip through Medicine Hat. Shared a 3meat platter. Pulled pork nachos were also delicious.

A commercial smoker don't make you a barbecue restaurant. Poor quality meats tasteless and they have obviously never been within 500 miles of Memphis or St. Louis. Very bland very cheap meats no smoke flavor equals poor barbeque. Baked beans tasted like they came from a can and corn bread from a box. Cole saw was terrible and should not even be called cole slaw.

Fantastic food!, friendly staff! Unfortunately, the "stay in and dine" has you still eating from a Styrofoam container with plastic utensils. A little of the diner feel is lost here.

Fantastic BBQ. I'm a rib guys and the ribs they smoke are top notch, and the brisket is off the charts. The sides are delicious. Super friendly staff. I cannot reccomend this place enough.

As I was trying to plan for events and outings while our veterans group was meeting in Medicine Hat I called tourism to find a good bbq place to have a meal. As they recommended Skinnys and the reviews were excellent I called them to make reservations. I was informed that they don't do reservations but that the day we wanted to be there that if we came down around 3pm that we should have the restaurant to ourselves for an hour or so. When we arrived we were informed that the restaurant was closed as they were catering a wedding. We got a lame excuse and told to try another restaurant. To the management you should think about hiring better staff to answer the phone that can read a calender and not tell people to show up when you will be closed. To potential customers communicate by email so that there will be less possibility that they will mix up dates and tell you they will be open for business when in fact they have booked in a catering gig elsewhere. ( or did they just not care and took a catering gig because it paid more) If possible I would like to give a lower rating but this is the lowest possible.

I ate the 2 by 2 which is two meats and two sides for 20 bucks. Service was really good and I like the brisket and the garlic potato. The white sauce was also good. I would try something other than the wings and the coleslaw next time, not that they were bad, just not as good as the other items.

Pretty weak BBQ overall. Brisket was a single well done slice. Chicken was a slightly smoky slow roasted thigh. Pulled pork was ok but fairly dry. We also had the st Louis ribs and they had so much post smoking sauce on them it was hard to enjoy. The cornbread with honey was the standout item on our table.

Great fresh BBQ! I tried brisket, chicken and pulled pork and all were excellent. The fries were quite heavily spiced with the house spice. While I enjoyed it, my elementary aged son and nephew found the spicy fries too much for them. While this is probably a matter of their specific tastes, I’ve found that many kids tend to have a narrower palate, so less-spiced fries for the kids meals would be appreciated. This is a minor complaint though. This is a great restaurant overall, and a recommended stop if you’re passing through Medicine Hat.

Really enjoyed this. Tried a bit if everything. Brisket was very tender, melt in your mouth. The riblings and ribs had wonderful flavour across the smoke, rub and sauce. Very unique, and still totally fit a BBQ taste. Even the chicken had a nice rub that works real well with the smoke. I'm definitely going back.

$11 for 40cl (14oz, 6oz less than a pint) of Stella makes it hard to digest the $11 (for comparison) chicken poutine I had. Also, even though I added extra curds, there was barely any. And please, no BBQ sauce on the chicken, I had to separate the drenched chicken layer to taste the "poutine". I'm pretty sure the back of the menu had imports glasses priced at $6.50 (a quarter more than domestics), not $11. If I'm wrong, nowhere did it mention the Stella was going to cost that much. Buddy got charged 7.75 for his domestic, which is fair even though not as advertised. Service was good, cool place, check out the ceiling fans, pretty nice steam punk setup.

I've been here twice. It's ok/not bad. The ribs were pretty good, sides were large, service was pretty good. My rating of 3 means I would go with others if they want to go, but would not choose to go. Wings with dry rub are nothing to get excited about. Baked beans were thick, but tasty. Fries were pretty good. The smashed baked potato was good. The hamburger patty was way over cooked. I know Canada by law requires patties to be over cooked, but this was a bit much. Minus that, the rest of the burger was good. I do come from a place that has pretty good BBQ, so that will have me a little picky.

Enjoyed lunch here the other day for the first time, and as a big BBQ fan I can say that this place will not disappoint. I ordered the 3&3 meal, with brisket, wings, and sausage. They were all great, brisket being the star. The sides were tasty as well. The waitress (Renee) was very polite and her suggestions were great. Would highly recommend, this will for sure be my go to place whenever I'm in the hat next.

We ordered in door dash for Mother’s Day. Placed the order 20 minutes later we get a text from door dash saying the order was cancelled. The door dash driver arrived at the restaurant to find it closed. Very disappointed. I’m sure we were not the only disappointed customers on mother day. We won’t order from them again. My first experience here was amazing. The food was fantastic and the beer cold and yummy. My second experience here the wings were over deep fried to the point of being completely dried out. Beer was still yummy and I will go again and see if the third time is a charm

Since this placed opened I have always stopped and supported it anytime I go through. Tonight was no exception..being a truck driver I rushed all day to make it in time tonight . Hours Say 8pm Sat May 8th 2021. I pulled up out front called in an oder at 7:50 to be told orders were done 10 min ago. Please change your hours to when you will actually serve customers....like 7:30pm. I Expected more from an Alberta company, especially during these times and just going into another lock down yet again. You just lost another customer for good!! Go support another business that's trying hard to make it during these times!!

I would give 5 stars for flavour, had the brisket but it was extremely fatty pieces and hardly any meat. $4.95 for a small piece of corn bread is a bit much. But there meat was very very tasty

Now, that was some amazing BBQ! I took advantage of both the Three & Three and the Full Rack of St. Louis Ribs. My mouth is salivating just writing this review as I recall how good this meal was. Delicious! Even the side choices were incredible. I find in a fair bit of BBQ restaurants I've visited they either have amazing BBQ but, miss the mark on sides or vice versa. Not at Skinny's. The Tater Tot Pie, Corn Bread with Honey Butter and the Baked Beans..... amazing!

Spacious, modern location for a nice lunch or dinner. Not cheap, but also not overpriced. Friendly service in an air conditioned, TV screen studded seating area. Loved the cucumber salad. The brisket was fatty (because that’s what it’s supposed to be) but very tasty.
