Food was so goood the cheese fondue was delicious and the chocolate fondue as well I have no complaints whatsoever staff was super friendly and welcoming.

Unbuckle your belts folks. This restaurant packs a punch of German bites with more than generous servings. The quality is supreme. The setting is amazing with lakefront views. Our waitor Asher made sure our experience was 5 star and our dietary restrictions were cared for without loss of intent of the meal. Highly recommend this restaurant and ask for Asher. He is knowledgeable about the food and the destination! Cheers....

Brittany Warren

Always love coming here for the pots of cheese and the staff are all so nice. The space itself is so uniquely charming.

Amanda Garry

The dark chocolate fondue was amazing!!! Especially with the banana bread, yummy!

Dallas Prince

Beautiful, classic restaurant. We sat by a window looking out over the lake and had both cheese and chocolate fondues. Really excellent food and lovely service.

Tim Yocum

Excellent Cuisine, Great Service, Lovely View! Our server Zdnek was friendly and attentive and really knows the area. All the rest of the staff of the restaurant treated us royally. The wine list was excellent.

This is THE MUST do at The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The Chateau Experience was the best meal of a lifetime. We booked early (opening at 5:30) to ensure we had the best table in the house. The meal and the staff outshined the view. Asher was our waiter. He recommended the wine pairing that went with the meal. It was incredible. If we had eaten here the first night we would never have sinned in any of the other Restaurants here. Again. - Asher. Fir waiter. Arrive early and enjoy!!

Amazing food!

(Translated) The front desk was very unfriendly to the Chinese. We deliberately arranged a small table at the entrance of the bar, saying that there was no location in the landscape hall above. Please come when we arrived, it is very late, where there are so many people to eat, who is it? The 3A steak is a joke, so you must pair it with 50 Canadian dollars per person to order the meal. We asked the waiter whether the non-packaged steak was also 3A. She looked at us for a long time.

I agree with the other reviews, make your 5:30 reservation if you want the view. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The cheese fondue was average. The chateaubriand was acceptable. Pictured is the actual shared portion for one person. Weirdly, a waiter commented on how he was surprised we ate all the mashed potatoes. The chocolate fondue was the best, especially the homemade marshmallows. I don’t regret going here but it didn’t wow me. Portions were small, but that allowed us to eat all of the three courses.

Prices were OFF the charts with a menu that didn’t make sense …. Food was amazing .. service was okay… for the price … not worth it in my opinion …. Mashed potatoes that are 18$ as a side …. Is a bit much … be fair to the crowd coming to support :) drinks - also very expensive…

Starting with the positive, food was great. Now, going into the restaurant with a reservation, we were made to wait 20+ min, just because they are understaffed and there were people before us WITHOUT a reservation. Let alone the waiting place was in front of a bathroom, so go figure. Otherwise, lighting needs a bit of work after sunset, need some candles. Had to ask separately for silverware which is ridiculous. Probably extremely understaffed because after mentioning that we were extremely tired after a day’s hiking we had to wait in our seats for another 5-10 min. But who’s counting right. I know we are in the mountains but this is just such bad service inside a five star hotel. Once again the food was pretty good.

Robert McKee

Huge disappoint for the food, especially the mains. The fondue is ok, but the bread are dry, even can’t use the fondue fork to eat. The vegs are just a few canned pickle food, some boiled potato, no idea what the price for. The main dish are joke, 65 dollar tenderloin, come with a béarnaise sauce looks like jelly, a sauce you can pick up with fork. I do wish the bread for the fondue are like the sauce texture. Oh! Can’t forget to mention the over-seasoning, is the salt gonna expire tomorrow or what….? The 50 dollar schnitzel has no flavor at all, maybe teach the tenderloin to share some salt with schnitzel? The bread coating are thicker then the meat itself. I should listen to others and go get some chicken nuggets instead. Hope you see my review and stop come here for food. Or I’ll be happy to send you a “told you!” voice message. The service are not bad. Anyway, don’t visit, at least not for food. Please and thank you!

Great spot for a dunkel Hefeweizen (or cocktail) after a hike/bike ride. Kai and the rest of the staff were great!

Great good, great atmosphere and fantastic service. the steak was too salty for us, was not sure if we prefer lighter taste. We informed the waiter before leaving the restaurant and told him that we could not finish the steak due to the over seasoning; the waiter kindly asked if we wanted a new steak, but we just could not finish it, so we turned down his offer. great service :) will definitely revisit this place again

We really had a great experience here despite the restaurant trying to bump us off of their reservation list without telling us - our waiter, Asher, really blew our minds - so professional and friendly, so attentive. The restaurant should be proud to employ him. Two of our party had the three course special, and the rest of the party had the salmon appetizer (meh), the elk carpaccio (excellent), and the chicken (excellent - so flavorful). Best fondue I've ever had, such a nice balance of the right flavors.

Great ambience and wine list. Adorable service. However selection limited by its menu. The fondue which it boasts was mediocre and dearly priced. Since the place raised expectations, it gave disappointment.

It was amazing food with good service. Great view too. They serve things to dip in and a sauce for apitizers. They do it for desert to but there is plenty of options. They ran out of my favorite the fudge brownie but they where nice about it and gave a other dessert and even took something off the bill.

We drove in for a weekend stay at the Chateau Lake Louise from Calgary and dined at the walliser stube our second night. Because of the forest fires from BC we weren't able to see the lake but that was only a small downside to the overall experience. The cheese fondue is excellent and paired even better with a riesling that our server recommended. Toblerone fondue for dessert is also a special treat. Would love to come back within the coming months.

Kaining Cui

Overall a very underwhelming meal, particularly at this price point. We started with the cured salmon, which was a meager portion of just 2 x 3” on top of a large and bitterly over cooked rösti. The rösti overpowered the delicate salmon flavor, and was quite oily. The appetizer sized mushroom fondue was decent however the accompaniments could have been better. The bread was standard white baguette style and was a bit stale. Green apples and pickled veg were alongside as well. Mains were decently portioned (mushroom strudel and pork schnitzel) but had almost no seasoning and were quite bland. Accompanying vegetable sides tasted like oil and little else. Overall a disappointing meal, you are paying for the Fairmont name, but your money will be better spent elsewhere.

Cory Pelkman

We had the Chateau Experience and it was fantastic, next time will add the wine pairing

John Roberts

Probably our favorite meal of the week. Highly recommend the cocktails. Told the bartender to surprise me, and I ordered another of whatever he made. You're in good hands here.

John Moleski

Expensive but worth every penny. Child like wonder came over me - how could the fondue taste so good bite after bite? The service was beyond reproach. Professional, kind, and perfectly suited to complete the elegant experience. Best food, best view, best service. If you are able, make a reservation and enjoy.

We were staying at the hotel and decided to visit the Walliser Stube for a special event. We booked ahead of time and requested a window view. Unfortunately they gave our table to other walk ins. So we missed sunset after an hour and half we got moved to a window seat. But we were almost done with our food. If you have a special event book some where else.

My wife and I made reservations and dined here during our stay at the Chateau and it was lovely. The atmosphere is elegant while at the same time very relaxing. Our server Robert gave us excellent advice and answered all of our questions to help each of us choose an entree. Our dishes were delicious and the flavors complex yet complimentary. One interesting note to add was that their water is very refreshing. They offer both sparkling and ice water that is filtered from Lake Louise itself. Not your average city-treated tap water. Shows how hard they work to make everything top notch. We highly recommend Walliser Stube for a special dinner while visiting Lake Louise...and hopefully you'll have Robert to take care of you!

We really enjoyed dinner at Wallister Stube. The waiter was extremely helpful and guided us through ordering from the menu. I recommend ordering the Walliser Stube experience. You get dinner for two with the fondue appetizer, steak entree, and chocolate fondue dessert.

PolarBean Han

This was one of our favourite meals on the trip. Service was amazing. Asher our waiter was excellent. Pretzel bread with whipped butter (save some to dip in the fondue). We got the half fondue and it was plenty for two people to share. The schnitzel was super crispy and huge. Halibut was cooked with a nice crust but a little small on the sides. The chocolate fondue for dessert was amazing and the home made marshmallows was my favourite part. It was expensive but worth the experience and the view of the lake.

Julia Randell

We were really lucky to get a table in front of the large window with a lakeview. Concierge helped make our dinner reservation when we checked-in. Our waiter provided excellent service. I’m not a connoisseur of German/Swiss dishes but I would say it’s the finest fondue and schnitzel that I’ve had in Canada. Overall, wonderful guest experience. I’m glad we tried Walliser Stube.

Bryan Euzent

Everything about this restaurant is world class and worthy of at least 5 stars. The views from every table are draw-dropping, the service is unobtrusive yet responsive, even intuitive. The menu and the food are all brilliant. This is just the sort of dining you might dream of after a day of hiking to the tea house, paddling across the lake, or simply driving to arrive at this epic hotel.

Jenny Virago

So far the best restaurant I've tried at the chateau lake Louise. I've tried everything on the room service menu along with two other restaurants and so far the Wallister Stube has the best food. I highly recommend the steak meal, a butter knife is all you need. Amazing customer service to top it all off. I e been at the chateau for a month and it's now my go to restaurant.

Fondue was a bit lacking; four slices of duck, a couple of pepperoni slices, half of a small potato, one piece of broccoli, one piece of cauliflower, and five string beans isn’t all that much - so be prepared to eat a lot of bread or have a second dinner. The cheese was pretty good - pretty close to what I’ve had in Switzerland. More annoying than skimpy portions is to have a window seat and ask the server to lower the shade to stop being blinded by the sun only to have another server raise it and say, when asked to not raise the shade because of the sun, “another guest wants to look at the lake”. I guess our table’s comfort is irrelevant. Good thing the portions were small and it didn’t take long to eat, pay, and leave.

By far the best restaurant that I've ever been to. We had an amazing cheese fondue, followed by a beef main course with veggies and mashed potatoes on the side, and finished off with the chocolate fondue. They were so attentive to my food allergies and ensured everything was safe, and perfect. We never had a reservation, but they managed to squeeze us in and even gave us a good table. The service was excellent and the wine was wonderful. I can't wait to be able to visit again.

It’s clear that this is the best restaurant at Fairmount Chateau Lake Louise. The service here is of an extremely high level - professional, friendly and slick. We had two great meals during our stay here and didn’t order the same thing twice. Highlight was the chicken which surprised us - crispy skin and succulent cooked by a master. Other winners are the salmon gravlax and the mushroom strudel. And special mention to those especially wonderful pretzel buns with the whipped butter. Wash it all down with a big dark Dunkel. Ordering a bottle of wine is a memorable experience as well - the antique furnishings make this a memorably enjoyable and delicious experience!

Excellent service and good food. I am not the fondue connoisseur that others are, but we enjoyed the truffle cheese appetizer and found it filling enough to be a meal in itself. The veal and strudel were very tasty!

Nathan Yuen (Bogaboo)

Service was great. Our server Corey was amazing -- great knowledge of the menu and wines in general. Skip the "Chateau Experience" and order ala carte. The truffle fondue was fantastic -- great cheese and wonderful sides -- the cocktail onions were especially good. The steak/tenderloin was amazing -- tasty and tender. The schnitzel was very good and huge. Enormous wine menu. Be sure to make reservations and get a view table -- spectacular. Visited a year later and had another exceptional meal. The fondue here is the BEST. And our server Erika was fantastic.

Tony Koshy

The Walliser Stube in the hotel was a great place for dinner we went twice! Erika our waitress was great! It was our favorite restaurant on our stay! It has a great wine list and menu but is a bit more relaxed which is what you want on vacation!

Chelsea White

Walliser Stube provides fine dining entrenched in the historic Swiss mountaineer past of the Rocky Mountains! Where to begin, staff were happy to move me to the library where I enjoyed the best view over my meal! For my birthday, staff went out of their way to celebrate the moment. While all dishes are likely fantastic, I recommend embracing the traditional dishes - the käsespätzle is unbelievable as well as the specialty chocolate fondue with perfect financiers and home made marshmallows!! If you are limited, go for a cocktail and chocolate fondue, in the future I'd love to try the cheese fondue as I can only imagine :) This is the Rocky Mountaim culture I came for - thank you Walliser Stube for your incredible hospitality, world class!!

(Translated) Order the course of the fondue. Cheese fondue first, I chose the taste, but I do not know well, so I recommend it. Only French bread with ingredients finely cut. The quantity is large but the contents are a bit sad. Main is AAA beef chateau brian steak. I brought the grilled meat and vegetables to a wooden tray separately from the plate, and it was confirmed that the baking was good. When it says OK, it served on a plate. This meat is delicious! Moth Soft and juicy. The quantity is just right for us. The last is chocolate fondue. You can choose sweet or bitter. Choose a bitter. Ingredients are various fruits and marshmallows. This chocolate is also delicious. We also had Canadian wine and we were very satisfied with the delicious dinner. The person in charge of the table is also friendly and sometimes speaks out, and the response is extremely smooth. The seat seems to be a reservation required.

Best comfort food to go with the cold mountain air

Review for Jan 2016. Cant beat this place. It's better than the Waldhaus at Banff Springs. I like the specialty fondue (their traditional, topped with extra ingredients). Once had. Reduced port wine and pear fondue.

Great little spot with good ambiance and excellent service. Had the "Chateau experience"and it was great. You will definitely not leave hungry. The view from our window-front table of the lake was a very nice ;)

This was the best fondue I have ever had and I have had a few in Switzerland. The fondue itself is on par with the best swiss ones but what set it apart for me was the amazing bread that came with it. The meats were good too but I just mostly ate the bread. We also tried the dessert fondue and loved the milk chocolate one over the dark chocolate one. The place is pricey but totally worth it, especially to recover all the calories from hiking all day in this beautiful region.

I literally just arrived back to my room and felt the need to immediately review this place. The setting and ambiance were quite something. The food was great from the selections offered to the taste. I had the prawn cocktail with Mushroom strudel and my Wife had the prawn cocktail with the salmon, all dishes were exceptional. To finish off we had the chocolate fondue, it was quite substantial to the point we only finished half but again not one bit disappointed. To top it all off the service was so friendly and attentive. What a great experience we just had, thanks so much

Excellent German Swiss restaurant located inside Fairmont Lake Louise. Has large menu with Weiner Schnitzel and Strudel. The highlight is the cheese Fondue and Chocolate Fondue! Service excellent.

Margaret Chiarito

So amazing. Food was great. Service was fantastic.

Ryan Selby

We had dinner at the Lakeview restaurant and then came here for Desert of chocolate fondue at the bar. We chose the Toblerone fondue which was amazing! The accompaniments were amazing- especially the banana cake. Our server, Kai, was also the bartender. The service was amazing. He was very entertaining while being very professional.

Food was perfect. I had the saftgaulasch (braised wagyu) and my friend had the lamb chop. Both dishes were everything we hoped for. Getting started with a pretzel bread with a nice touch! Wagyu - tender, moist, savoury. Even the side cabbage was delicious. Veal chop - medium as they recommended came out cooked perfectly with just enough fat! So so so juicy. We made room for dessert - chocolate fondue. I’m normally not a fondue person, but this won me over. It was just pure chocolate goodness. Our waitress Melanie (hope that’s her name lol) was so sweet as well, and made the experience awesome!

linna lin

Swiss Cuisine in the Canadian Rockies. I've never had Swiss food before and I guess I'd say that I have that perception of a lot of cheese melted in a pot. Thus, I'm not saying I'm a culinary expert but the food was delicious. We got the raclette combo dinner ($82pp) that included a salad, appetizer, the raclette and a chocolate fondue. We were so full. I love cheese so this was a great choice. In addition, the cocktails they served were exceptionally well done... so much so that my partner decided to splurge and get TWO (this is a rare occurance, if ever) during dinner. The ambiance is cozy, intimate and comfortable. The service is by far, one of the best I have ever experienced by "young people". It's clear they've had proper training and you will not regret going. I didn't manage to try the other restaurants within the hotel but I bet they would be just as good. We chose this one because it was different than the conventional restaurants that you'd find in most large cities.

Very good food. I recommend going all in and getting the three course meal. Our server Cory was outstanding. We were so full after the main course we asked to have the dessert delivered to our room. Such a request was no problem for Cory and his team. I cannot recommend the restaurant and the hotel enough. Thanks for making a special weekend even better.

I came here to celebrate my birthday. Had the menu of the Walliser Stube served at the Poppy Brasserie. The cheese fondue appetizer was good however was overpriced. They could really offer more cheese fondue for the price of it. Ordered the beef tenderloin. The cut of beef was quite small for the price they charged for it ($55). The beef was called good though however they were quite sparce on the sides for the meal. Mashed potatoes and vegetables don't cost much. They served me a large plate which was way too big for the food provided on the plate. My wife ordered the pork schnitzel which was quite a large portion and tasted good. Although it was price too. If you come here for a meal you may have to explicitly tell them it is a special event. They did not bother to ask. I'm not too certain if they would care if you did.

brian bird

What a memorable experience!!! Service and food were both amazing. The cheese fondue was so tasty!!! So was the chocolate fondue!!! Decor made us felt like we were in another country. Loved every minute of it.
