Takes Advantage of Wedding Clients!
The day of the wedding was extremely disappointing. The steak served was a quarter of an inch thick, if that. I received comments from my guests such as "Where was the other 5 ounces of my steak?" I completely agreed. I apologized the entire night. They provided an entire second meal to all of my groomsmen, after we requested it. Bride and maid of honor's vegetarian dish was curry instead of ratatouille. We had requested multiple times for this to be changed and had thought that this was going to occur. UBC claimed we had confirmed curry in an e-mail. After review we did not. All we confirmed was vegetarian and the conversation occurred over the phone.
We had last minute guests and were told that this was OK as extra meals are included in the price. I did my best to go down to their location at the Winnipeg Winter Club or e-transfer them for any last minute meals the week of. Still some did occur. Later it was claimed that these should have been paid for.
Surprisingly we ran out of Vodka after ordering more than recommended by the liquor mart employees. A trip was made for more and well before the end of the night the bartender stated we ran out again. Later we found out that we still had 3 bottles of vodka left. Vodka was popular and should have been served!
When rectification was attempted on a $11,000 plus food bill we received $600 and that we would not be charged for the extra meals served as a result of the last minute guests. I thought this was included? They did offer other options, but were all catering related and after this experience we were not interested.
I will now be using the returned funds to try my best to give those guests who ordered steak a proper meal and taking my now wife and sister in-law out for dinner.
If you do go with UPC what they serve you at the tasting is not what you get at the wedding. When requesting changes to your order make sure to have everything in writing and re-confirm multiple times. I would have someone monitoring their bartenders as well to make sure they are aware of stock.
