Wow, what a great experience, maybe the best party I’ve ever thrown. Chef Keven Lee was easy to communicate with, full of creative ideas, professional and a delight throughout the night. The food was amazing from the passed apps to entire and desert, with an amouse Bouche thrown in for good measure. When the meal was over, they tidied up and left the place as they found it. We had a couple of picky eaters and Chef was able to accommodate a substitution for them. There is no greater experience than top restaurant quality food from the comfort of your own table. Si nos hubiera avisado del cambio, lo hubiéramos hablado y acordado para que no sucediera eso. Pero el postre en sí nos gustó. Sin embargo, sí hubo un detalle que no nos pareció bien, y es que nos sobró mucha comida porque mis hijas no se encontraban bien y apenas cenaron, y lo tiró todo a la basura. No pudimos decir nada porque se fue cuando todavía estábamos tomando el postre, así que nos dimos cuenta cuando ya no estaba. Pero la verdad es que, aparte de la cuestión económica (casi 2 menús completos tirados), moralmente/ecológicamente hablando, no lo veo correcto.

Unfortunately we had a really bad experience using Take a Chef, as the 'chef' we booked did not deliver the service and quality we expected and were promised. At €60 per head, this was definitely a special occasion meal, but what we received was the most basic of food, some of which was actually inedible. I'm not sure if the chefs are even verified, so try to do your own due diligence and check for reviews off the Take a Chef site. Chef Nino was definitely in way over his head and afterwards agreed to pay 50% of our bill back. Unfortunately this has never materialised. Be very cautious using this service.

For the price we paid, we were expecting the chef (Giannis) himself to cook for us. Instead, he sent two other people on his behalf. We would rate the service and food as 4 stars but lowered it to 3 stars since it was not made clear that we would not be getting the chef himself to do the private meal.

Our chef was Robert Smyth. I have never previously had a private chef experience but hopefully it won't be the last time. Rob had put in a huge amount of prep. The food was amazing. He also struck the right balance between leaving us to enjoy our dinner party, and being engaging and chatting with us when we wanted to ask him questions (which you will want to do when the food is THIS good).

Our chef Vanessa and I communicated for about one month before our event to create a menu which I was very excited about! A week before the event she emailed me to confirm details and headcount and make sure she and 2 associates had access to kitchen for prep and throughout the event. We decided an arrival time and on the morning of the event we exchanged cell numbers and moved to text communication. Less than an hour before her scheduled arrival time she texted me to let me know the 2 associates would be arriving promptly at 6 (guests were arriving at 6:30). When I responded to ask her whereabouts and ETA she did not respond at all and went dark until 6:21. The associates didn’t arrive until nearly 7 and while we waited for them we had no idea what was going on or who to contact. Dressed for my event and waiting to receive guests, I had no idea if we were even going to have food and drink for them and my husband began making backup plans for food bc we could not get hold of Vanessa! Our guests were in our home for 20-30 mins before the two associates eventually arrived and my husband was mixing cocktails (not the point of using this service!). Horrible one hour where I was unnecessarily made to feel stressed and uncertain about what was going to happen. Truly disappointed in the experience. The associates worked very hard to cover and my guests had fun but we were very disappointed in the experience re: communication at the eleventh hour and would hesitate to use this company again.

I wish I could rate this joke of a company lower than one star!! I had planned a romantic night away with my "fiancé to be" months in advanced with this company. I received a call about an hour prior to our booking expecting the Chef to ask for some simple directions, however after speaking with the Chef I was left with no Chef for the evening! I asked her why she couldn't make it expecting a family crisis etc, I stupidly assumed another Chef had been arranged and would be on the way in her place. Instead I was informed that the Chef that was booked months in advance didn't realise my booking was so far away and had decided against it, no one would be coming in her place!! After explaining that I was to propose to the my girlfriend at the time she simply said that even if she wanted to make the trip to the pre booked event, her car was not in working condition so she had no way of attending even if she wanted to!! I had to laugh at this point, not only was I left with no Chef for the evening and my plans were ruined but the irony of a mobile Chef that didn't have a functioning car was very amusing!! I am still yet to hear from this company since Monday nights events unfolded. I have paid in full for a service that was not provided!!! I was left in the lurch an hour out from a planed booking with was planned months out from the planned event!! Your company needs a serious over haul if this is seen as acceptable!! I am still in shock that this actually happened! I want my money FULLY REFUNDED!!! Disgraceful!

Hello- I hired Chef Alexis to cook for my 30th birthday dinner last night,1/20/19, for 17 guests. Up until their arrival I communicated with her sous chef, Benjamin, who was rude both times when we spoke on the phone. When they arrived, Alexis was completely inebriated, nearly unable to speak. About three hours into their prepping, we heard screaming coming from the kitchen, Alexis began yelling that ‘he’ (Benjamin) was going to kill her and that he beats and hits her everyday and that she was terrified of him. Ben remained eerily calm while she shouted and insisted on her being beaten, not discounting her claims. She stormed away from the kitchen and went and sat on our living room floor saying she couldn’t be near him and wouldn’t proceed with cooking the meal. We called the local police officers and upon arrival she pulled her phone out and started showing incredibly graphic pictures with bruising and black eyes on her face & breasts. She said she had six shots of Jameson while cooking. The police officers arrested Benjamin, leaving us with an uncooked meal and their car in our driveway, which still has yet to be towed/picked up. Please provide a refund from the meal as well as an explanation for the screening of how these chefs are allowed to participate within your platform. This was highly disturbing, put 17 people in harms way, and lastly a horrible way to conclude a weekend.

We hired Daniel Salvador as chef to cook for us at home on our anniversary- and couldn’t be happier with the experience. With a small baby at home, dining out was going to be impossible- as was cooking for ourselves. We love good food and fine dining and this seemed the perfect solution. Daniel’s menu suggestions were incredibly difficult to choose from, and being veggie it was just amazing to have so many interesting veggie options. He even included a meat main course for my partner based on his favourite foods which was hugely appreciated! The whole experience was friendly, relaxed as we were in our own home, and the food was just incredible. He’s a creative, talented chef and passionate about what he does. Even the ingredients cane from his own garden or had been hand picked from Spain. All I had to do was open the door and Daniel did the rest - right down to bringing his own plates - there wasn’t a trace of anyone having been there once dinner was over! Definitely recommend and will probably do the same thing next anniversary- beats hiring a babysitter and rushing home from a fancy restaurant when you can have the restaurant come to you!

Jonathan was a fantastic chef, and a terrific human. The dinner was superb. Each course was better than the last. He prepared and served the food beautifully and took pride in his work. Jonathan was eager to please and pleasant to have around. We enjoyed his company and were glad that he was with us to make my husband’s surprise birthday dinner even more festive. He is efficient, well trained and very knowledgeable about food. He was communicative during the planning process, polite and responsive. I can’t think of anything that he could have done differently or better to make for a fabulous dinner. We look forward to having him back next time we are in the Cayman Islands!
