Blackfriars Bistro assisted with the catering for our wedding and did not disappoint with their typical delicious food and attention to detail, including the appetizers, salad and dinner. Their baker even made our cake which not only made things easier for us but was absolutely delicious and unique to our personal taste preference! The consultation process was a little bit hectic but I think this can easily be chalked up to a very busy time with many events and reopening post-COVID. The onsite servers, especially Cathy, were professional, prompt and thoughtful, taking charge to ensure things went very smoothly. Our food was well prepared even though we were running slightly behind schedule and the chef was working in our home kitchen. Thank you all!

Grilled Cheese Sandwich, from the Lunch Menu, is amazing. The bread is crispy and crunchy. The cheese is gooey and chewy. I ate the whole thing. And... the sandwich is served with home-made soup. ????

Only has one cool and one waitress. Waited 40mins to get our foods. The quantity of food is for baby's, can't be lesser... the beef was overcooked, taste very bitter.. Idk why this restaurant get 4.7 points. Would not come again.

Lovely little restaurant, the chairs and tables are a bit dated. Food was amazing, and the portion is very generous. I strongly believe that they make their own desserts, and they're are goood.

I came here for lunch during a weekday and I have never been disappointed with the quality of the food. I have dietary restrictions and they are always very accommodating. The service was good too. The only consideration is that if you are in a hurry, this may not be the best choice. The meals are made to order and fresh, and ensuring dietary restrictions are met I expected it to take some time. This is a great place to enjoy a delicious meal and I never feel rushed to get out the door. I have been many times and will be back again!

The food is good, however higher attention to the guests and a more timely service is necessary. Our party of three sat down at our table at 6:15pm for a dinner of celebration. After over an hour of being seated we had only been served a drink and our appetizer with no sign of the main course being served soon (and it wasn’t). That particular evening it was not busy, as it is a small place and had many empty tables. Although we had not planned to rush our evening by any means and we were looking forward to a good meal and conversation we were all starving by the time the food arrived and we did not find the chairs comfortable enough for their patrons to be forced into a 2 hour meal experience. There was also a thorough lack of communication between servers. This was most notably recognized by a server asking us if we wanted another drink and our asking her for suggestions. She claimed she would talk to the other server as drinks were not her specialty. After approx. 15-20 min our server came back to ask if we wanted another drink with no indication that we had been asked previously and that she was to be asked for suggestions whatsoever. Apparently the message had been lost within the 10ft walk from our table to the bar area. Let me reiterate that this was not a busy evening by any means in that restaurant. By the time we were served our dinner we were regretting choosing Blackfriars entirely. Another thing to note is that while the artwork on the walls is very artistically beautiful it could also be seen as quite gruesome and depressing for a lovely dinner/night out. The costly bill at the end was just a slap in the face for such poor service. While I would never sit there again, I would say the food was good enough to order as a takeout meal so that you can seat yourself more comfortably, control when the food is ready and place yourself in a better environment.

I am not a picky person but this restaurant truly disappointed me. Their dishes were delicious to be honest, but the quantity is not good thus we had to go to McDonald's after lunch. Pricey place cause you have to order 2 main courses to be full lol. What I can't accept is that the food was not clean: I found a piece of steel scouring pad (or steel wool pad, whatever you call it, a tool to clean tableware ) in my steak plate. Unfortunately I lost it when I tried to show it to the waitress. The service was also bad: we took more than half an hour to get our food and the waitress's response to the steel piece was cold and indifferent. Staff were not nice and patient. This restaurant worth at most 2 stras if they don't have any improvement.I don't recommend this place.

Fantastic restaurant! Our meals were excellent, the staff warm and friendly, and the ambience delightful. I had the Deconstructed Beef Wellington. It was the best I have ever tasted and I have had the dish at some top restaurants around the world. I highly recommend you consider dining here. And no, they didn't pay me for this review! LOL

We had a delicious lunch today. Perch tacos were great served with a light wasabi-like sauce and pickled ginger. The fish was battered like a tempura and nestled in soft tacos. Very satisfying. The soup du jour was a potato cream with stilton cheese....very nice. The feature lunch of arctic char and pink shrimp was fantastic served with an orange creme with herbs. Asparagus and potato sided the main ingredients. For dessert the old-tyme carrot cake sweetened the finish! Great job by Betty and her kitchen team!

Food was delish, but way over priced. Service was friendly but so slow. Took nearly half an hour to get menus and drinks, with 2 other tables there one would think the service would be faster. Took over 2 hours to have dinner. The server was exceptionally friendly and helpful when a glass of wine was spilt though.

In a word, yum! I had the mushroom app and the risotto as a main with shrimp. Everything was so delicious. The place is so quaint with its feminine decor and light lavender walls. Perfect for a girls night. I only wish I had found this place sooner.

First thing. Food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We had the beef tenderloin and the salmon and the taste was exquisite. The decor resembles an outdoor cafe but indoors, with white garden-style mosaic tables and chairs. The art work is contemporary and certainly a focal point. Service is slow. We struggled to get out in under two hours and tables are very close together. If you love eavesdropping, this is the spot for you. Though slow, staff is friendly and overall it was a nice experience. Lunch for two with a glass of wine each with tip was $80+

A lovely little bistro. I've been here a couple times. The chairs are antique looking (and uncomfortable). But they match the decor very nicely. The prices are above family-style restaurants, and for the quality of the food it's worth it. The menu has some unique items. Their chef knows how to pair flavours together very well. I'm pretty sure this place has been around for a long time, and it's not hard to see why.

The server we had at the house was punctual, professional and a lovely person. The food was amazing and presented beautifully. Its places like this that we need to ensure survive these covid times. Took my girl out for a night went here. Food was great local great presentation. Service was amazing got history of the restaurant plus some of the ingredients from our dinner we were able to buy and take home with us the finest red pepper jelly and tasty tomato pesto.
