Rays consistently won best falafel so many years in a row in the Coasts "best of" competition that they permanently retired the category and awarded it to Ray. That should tell you something. Ray treats every customer like family, and is always in a good mood. Best Lebanese food in Halifax.

Very neat place with outstanding friendly staf. We ordered both chicken and beef shawrma plates and we couldn't have been more satisfied. Food was delicious and they were generous enough to fill the plates with different types of rice, salads and of course meat. Price is reasonable and I do recommend Ray's.

My experience happened at the Dartmouth location on Saturday June 13 at 11:30am. Entered the restaurant with my partner and Ray was sitting at a table relaxing as there were no other customers. I was told that men aren't served on Saturdays and only women are. I was confused and asked him to repeat himself. He did and then told me to get out and leave "the woman". I was absolutely appalled and started to walk out with my partner. He then said he was joking and tried to get us to stay. I told him it was an awful joke and we were leaving and was told off on the way out. I will never step foot in this place again. Absolutely disgusting behavior.

This is a great place and the food is amazing. When I come here for lunch, I usually get the chicken Shawarma plate with taboulli, turnip etc. The food has always been fresh, the place is clean and usually busy around lunch time, so give yourself some extra time. The prices are at a reasonable point and you get alot of food when you order a plate. If you're in Bayers Lake and looking for a great place for lunch, head to Ray's and you won't be disappointed.

went to go there today for lunch. when I walked in Ray was ringing in a customer at the register and giving him his change back .without washing his hands he turned to me , wiped his mouth with his bare hand and then proceeded to ask me what I would like. I obviously did not order anything and just walked out. I don't normally write reviews but this infuriated me as I used to be in the food industry and touching cash/wiping your face is a big NO NO when handling food. Sorry Ray but I will not be returning to your establishment.

Not a giant donair fan even though I live in NS; I find they are a big, soggy mess 99% of the time. Not at Ray's though! They've got donairs down to a science and they are delicious. Best donair I've had in Halifax! The two guys working behind the counter are quick & friendly; great service. Nov 25, 2021: Seems there are some new faces at the Bayer's Lake location. As with any change, there are some growing pains. My usually delicious donair was not so delicious today, the meat was tough (weird for minced meat), kinda cold and the sauce seemed thinner/oilier than normal with less flavor. Overall disappointing, but I'll chalk it up to an off day. I believe in leaving constructive feedback, so I'm not going to change my score until I get a second bad donair.

I ordered the beef Shawarma plate and it was great. It came with a lot of different sides, and every one of them was fantastic. Although I do have to say, I did come for the Shawarma, and the beef was incredible LOL. Service was helpful and friendly, and the price was very good. The portions were also very large!

First off the service was top tier, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were larger than expected. The prices are on par with other Lebanese restaurants but with the large portion sizes it is really a good bang for your buck. Highly recommend trying Ray's if you are a fan of Lebanese food!

I have since dropped my 5 star review to a 2 start because he has been shamelessly overcharging me for my orders. I came in once and only wanted a plate with fattoush salad, tabouleh, chicken, and baba ganoush, and he charged me $17.50 for getting LESS FOOD (meaning no potatoes or rice which normally comes with your order which I find to be way too much food). Tonight I came in just for a takeout tabouleh salad alone (yes, JUST tabouleh), and he overcharged the same $17.50 again!

We got the Lebanese food from Ray’s through SkipTheDishes. It was our second time to get their food, never been to Rays but their food always surprised me!!! This time we got 2 can dine meal, it came with all the grills, giant shrimp plate and chicken plate (there’s a couple options for the meat) everything on the plate was so tasty! Love their lamb, chicken kabob, shrimp, potatoes and hummus!!! Their yogurt on the shrimp was so good!! Definitely will order again and again or even go visit the restaurant. Can’t wait to try more food there!

I have eaten here 3 times and I love their shwarmas...BUT, and it's a big but, Someone is not washing their hands here! My husband and I both ended up with a 'gastrointestinal complaint' after eating here November 2015. I will never eat here again, the thought of someone not washing their hands after defecating sickens me.

I eat there once or twice a week, whenever I feel like treating myself to good food. The food portions are enormous, one of the best spots to eat in bayers lake with hardly any wait time. Home made style food served at the speed and prices of the fast food chains, how can you beat that ? My favorite is the chicken shawarma although I've tried the beef and it's good too. I also get the kibbeh special when they have that from time to time, it's delicious and authentic. Keep up the good work and thank you for coming to bayers lake !

If you're a vegetarian and want a very good and very filling option go for the regular Falafel wrap. We were lucky enough to order just as new and fresh falafel were coming out of the kitchen! Soft falafel - check Tasty - check Crunchy pickled turnip - check Spicy and smooth filling - check Soggy at the bottom - not at all It was literally the best falafel wrap I have had in Halifax in the last few years. For the price you can't get a better choice for your vegetarian dinner!

Staff was friendly and helpful and it was clean. Quantity was more then I could eat but the potatoes were just warm. Pita bread was stale. The shawarma was not fresh off the spit, was pre-shaved from a container so was not crispy. Rest of the food was ok, if not for the humus and garlic sauce I would not have eaten it.

I had the chicken shawarma wrap here and it was delicious. It's obvious that the owners care about the quality of the food. The ingredients were all fresh and flavourful, and the weak was very filling while only costing $8. A great choice for lunch or supper.

A group of us went to Susie Lake location. A lot were charged $3 for water whether they got it or not. Why do you charge that much for water. I ordered lamb but am sure it was beef which cost $3 less. The food is good but dealing with customers when paying the bill is frustrating

Have been seeing their new advertising and was in the area and figure I'd give it a try as I haven't been having much luck with other Lebanese places. Safe to say I was looking for a new Lebanese home for food. Tried the falafel plate, was greeted with good and quick service. But as soon as I sat down to eat I noticed everything on my plate was the same temperature, cold. Falafels stone cold and hard as a rock, also really lacking any flavour at all. Both types of rice stone cold, was in a rush and didn't have time to gripe and argue about food temperature but figure it should be known. Only part of the plate I really ate was the salad. Happened tonight around 5:45 in Bayer's lake, i did consider going back up to ask to microwave my plate but everyone was hiding out back and I didn't want to microwave my salad, other option was to what, get more cold food?

Burnside location...if a health inspector walked in for a temp check he would be shut down immediately. Nice guy but it is definately the worst food I've had in NS. Go to Mezza. I don't need a reply, there is no excuse for cold food and no excuse for not shaving the meats to order.

This Ray's location is not run by Ray himself, and those who knew Ray's in Scotia Square may be disappointed in the relative blandness of the food. It's tasty, however, and great value. The decor is hideous, so not recommended for anyone wanting any atmosphere.

My first stop on returning to Canada was Ray's for supper. Delicious, healthy, fresh food at a good price. One of my favorite places to dine, repeatedly voted Best Schwarma in Halifax. Love this place.

The food was exactly what I was expecting, and the portions were generous. Went for lunch and couldn't finish it. A word of caution for celiacs though, the server pointed out all the gluten free options but still offered pita with the dish. My wife definitely got some cross contamination. They advertise a gluten free donair but the signage specifies that it's only gluten free donair meat.

With lots of great Lebanese places in the city this is definitely a stand out. It truly is a case of the 'hole in the wall places have the beat food'! Portion sizes are huge, and the selection of items is massive. Most items are actually cooked to order as well, so do be aware it is not like Mezza where you will be in and out in a few seconds. If you are really hungry the large combination plate will fill up even the hungriest person!

I loved it, at the moment I stepped in that store, I received a warming welcome from the employees. I did not even know what food I would get because I am not so familiar with Lebanese cuisine. However, the ladies who served us were very gentle, and besides explaining what products they provide, they provided even the ingredients in which food patiently. I felt a very healthy workplace environment which makes them very happy working there, the foods I ordered were amazing and very tasty. In addition, the customer service was fantastic. I truly recommend.
