WORTH THE TRIP FROM JAPAN TO EAT HERE! Its a great place, the food and service are always outstanding! Lunch today was fresh and delicious! Love the fish sauce, it's just spicy enough and the salad dressing is my all-time favourite. Then there is the best rice on the planet! This restaurant on Kempt Road among the car dealerships is a real find! Its my first choice when anyone I know suggest eating out in Halifax.

Powerful flavors in every dish, meats always cooked to perfection, generous portions, lovely presentations. We love everything we tried. Great selection, including GF options. Very good value. Service always courteous and friendly. Warm casual atmosphere. Not a nice part of Halifax but we don't mind.

I almost cried last night when I went to go to one of my favorite middle eastern restaurants and it was closed but you know what they say "when one door closes another opens!" . i just happened to be driving up Kempt Rd today and did a double take as I had never seen the sign before and decided what the heck...I'm SO happy I did! Great selection for me being a vegetarian, I ordered the platter so I could try a little of everything and absolutely amazing! I think I just found my new favorite restaurant for middle eastern cuisine!!!

The food was definitely on the upper-end of quality when compared to other middle-eastern restaurants I have eaten at. The rice was spiced very nicely. The garlic sauce was creamier than other ones I've had, which was different, but I liked it a lot. I also liked the sumac on the hummus. I'm from Ontario, and that is not very common in Ontario (at least not where I've eaten), but I think it adds a good flavour to the hummus. Also, the baklava was dense and had a lot of nuts in it. It was a little pricier than I would have expected, but because of this I felt it was worth it. Very nice with tea after the meal. Overall very nice meal.

One of my favorite restaurants in Halifax. The food is always scrumptious, service is friendly, and the restaurant has a cozy and comforting atmosphere. My favorite dishes are lamb mandi, mixed kebab and lamb mansaf. I also like mohalabia and Om Ali desserts. They even accommodated our late arrival with elegance. We stayed from at 9:20 to 10:30 pm when the restaurant was supposed to close at 9:30 pm.

I had the chicken Shawarma plate and it was fantastic. We also had an appetizer plate. My parents didn't care for the grape leaf rolls......more for me I thought they were excellent. Huuuuuge portions I was able to treat myself again at dinner time! Service was really quick as well. Only downside was the parking kind of sucks here, but sacrifices must be made.

I love trying new things but am also usually very indecisive when it comes to ordering something outside of my "norm". Was going to order something a friend suggested (from somewhere else) when Chef Abod came up on my delivery app. Took a look and the clear, comprehensive descriptions made choosing easy. Ordered right away. Not only was my food delivered hot, fresh and fast, the taste is AMAZING. I don't have much experience with middle eastern food, but this made an excellent introduction! 10/10 will order or visit again!

First of all, let me start by saying that the food was good. However when we got the bill the prices of the items that we had was different than that of the menu that was given to us. When we went to pay the bill we were surprised by the bill ,as it was higher than what we expected as we kinda knew how much it was going to cost when we were ordering the food. When enquired about why the difference in prices, she replied by saying that the price of foods on the menu is now higher as everything is expensive these days. The waitress never mentioned this while she gave us the menu while we were being seated. We were not happy about this service of treating customers.

I’ve worked with Chef Abod for catering on multiple occasions, recently for a large charity event. He always provides great service and excellent food. The best comments we receive after events is that the food was delicious. Not only that, but they are very reasonably priced and generous servings. We were able to provide for families in need and local homeless shelters with the extra food. As an event organizer (and picky eater), I would highly recommend chef abod for anything from a family get together to a large catered event!

Chef Abod's is primarily a Catering Service, but the on-site café serves a lovely , and eclectic range of dishes from Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Morocco , and Iraq. The café itself is a very pleasant, comfortable place, the service extremely friendly, and the prices very reasonable indeed.

Good dining experience. The restaurant is clean, welcoming with an affable charm and rustic feel with mellow instrumental music playing. I wish the parking lot was as inviting-It is a travesty to navigate with extremely compact spots, one way entry and minimal distance between the perimeter. The food itself is quite good. I ordered the Halabi kebab with fries and rice. The meat was acceptable with adequate seasoning and good texture. The rice had an aroma and taste which was completely distinct from anything I've ever encountered. Not good nor bad, just unique. The fries were excellent as was the service. The hostess was pleasant and ensured that I was looked after. Pricing could be a tad more reasonable given the quantity and quality of food but it isn't exorbitant by any means.

My wife recently heard about this restaurant and we decided on our next date night to check it out. I'm glad we did as everything we had was excellent! The restaurant is a cozy space that had a lot more space than meets the eye. I got the Okra and my wife got the lamb Mandi. The lamb on both dishes were fall off the bone tender and very flavorful. We closed our evening with Turkish coffee, baklava and a coconut almond square (forgot the name). Highly recommended!

Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Haliafx with no doubt. I have been to the restaurant too many times and never was disappointed. Steady food quality and service no matter what time you go. I have tried most of the menu items so far and I can confidently recommend Chef Abod. They have great lunch special with variety to choose from. The customer service: outstanding and never disappointed. Chef Abod himself is a very polite gentleman and he comes out from time to time. John is another story, highly skilled and very decent in dealing with customers. New staff member Eli is also very nice and respectful and always wear a smile. In a nutshell, Chef Abod is a must try restaurant if you live or visiting the city.

It was our first time ordered in from them. The food we get was chef’s kebab, Halabi kebab, and special appetizer plate. The appetizer plate was amazing! It came w multiple appetizers, hummus, and pita. The taste was very good and the portions were decent! Halabi Kebab was pretty good too, and it looked very colorful and tasted spicy. I was just a little bit disappointed on the Chef’s Kebab. It just came with a container of rice, 2 skewers of lamb, pita, and a small salad. I was wondering if there’s any veggies in it cuz they mentioned it in the description on the app. Other than that we were still pretty satisfied.

It isn't very often my partner and I have an all around pleasant experience dining but today was an exception. It was our first time here so naturally had to try the falafel wraps. For sides he had fries that were nicely seasoned. (I had to steal afew)...and I got the smokey rice. I never had rice that delicious before. The wraps were tightly made and tasty and grilled to perfection. All very fresh ingredients. The hostess was pleasant and brought us ice water right away. My partner tried a Turkish coffee for the first time and it was really good! The atmosphere is beautifully decorated and relaxing with beautiful harp music playing in the background. We live close and are so happy to find a spot that is perfect for us. We will be back!

Went there with a group of out-of-towners last week for lunch. They were really impressed. Normally I love the food, but my chicken shawarma wasn’t the greatest. The chicken was good but the sauce tasted a little strange. Also the rice was flavourful but a touch dry. Service was great and the prices are reasonable. The waiter brought over a delicious free dessert. Will be back again but this time I’ll get the lamb kebab.

I was unfamiliar with middle eastern cuisine but had heard good things. I placed an order for pickup over the phone on a Saturday night and it was ready close to the time stated. Tried a couple of appetizers: kibbah and baba ganoush. Both were great. The baba ganoush was very different from what I expected (more of a salsa consistency than the expected thick spread) but still delicious. We tried a lamb mandi, chicken kabsa and Syadia. All were fantastic. We shared and sampled all three but they were meant and packaged as individual meals. I would order any of the items again but the kabsa and mandi were standouts. There are a number of items on the menu I would like to try. I will be back. They have an online order option.

Amazingly delicious food, carefully prepared and served beautifully. Chef Aboud has some of the best Mediterranean / Middle Eastern food in Halifax. I would recommend this restaurant highly. I ordered the mixed veggie plate which came with baba ganoush, hummus, falafels, bourak, pickled turnip and warm pita bread: $14.99 plus tax. It was amazing. I"m full and still have plenty for leftovers.The food is fresh, flavourful and the person who rang me through was just lovely. I'll be grabbing my husband and/or friends so we can come by and enjoy an evening there - such a cosy and homey environment. I'll be back!

We had the best catering service experience with Chef Abod. The food was absolutely delicious with a big variety that satisfied all our guests ! I have always heard great things about chef Abod but the food quality and quantity (very generous) exceeded the expectations! They arrived on the time we agreed upon which is always a good relief on your stressful wedding day! What made our buffet even more special were the three servers who allowed for a more organized flow as well as making sure everyone had everything they need (utensils, water, enough food etc.) I could tell they were having a great time and were very friendly and approachable! Chef Abod's food is comparable to the best restaurants I have been to in the Middle East. The hummus was beautifully smooth and delicious, and the other appetizers like the dolma and roasted red peppers are excellent. There are many vegetarian options, so I was not forced to order the token veggie dish. The meat eating members of my family had a variety of kebabs which they all thought were awesome. My only regret is that we had this meal as takeout. I look forward to an in person visit once social distancing rules are relaxed. Bravo Chef Abod!

Food was decent and the spices were on point. The desserts were especially fulfilling accommodating the main courses. With that said, the portion is nevertheless quite small and in my opinion does not justify the relatively costly price($70+ in total). The lamb chops were way smaller than expected and only a spoonful curry sauce was in the curry dish as though it was sprinkled.

Went on a slow Wednesday afternoon. The parking was a bit cramped, but the delicious food made us happily forget it. It was a bit of a wait for our entree's but well worth it... the food was of superior taste and quality! We had a sumptuous falafal appetizer, tasty rice dishes, and delicious spiced chicken & curried lamb. Amazing! Not the cheapest, but the excellent food quality more than makes up for it. Still excellent value for price and highly recommended. We'll be back!

Chef Abod catered our housewarming party and the quality of food and presentation was superb. Many guests never left the dining room, and raved all night about the delicious wraps, dips, and other Middle Eastern delicacies. Chef Abod has been my go-to place for real food since going there for the first time more than 2 years ago. The portions are incredibly yummy and generous. Service is quick and all food is always fresh. The chef himself is approachable and extremely talented. If you're looking for something different, varied and beyond delicious, this is the place to go.

I was delighted to try Chef Abod via catering at work. The catering was for 30 people and we were ecstatic at how fresh and delicious the food was. The order for each person included rice and falafel, rosemary chicken, or teriyaki chicken as well as a salad. The salad dressing, garlic sauce, lemon pepper sauce and teriyaki sauce were all very good. The food came on time and the delivery person was very cordial which is not always the case with catering or food deliveries. I will definitely visit the Cafe itself sometime!

One of the best chicken shawarmas in the city. Also they have amazing Turkish coffee and baklava. It's a must visit spot in Halifax. If you like Shawarma and are coming to the city on a cruise, get a cab there!

What a hidden gem!! My hubby and I went for lunch and we were really impressed. The food was delicious! I had the red lentil kofta platter, awesome plant based option, they had lots of vegan dishes, the hummus was delicious sprinkled, salad was so good, seasoned rice. My hubby had the vegetarian plate, the baba ghanoush on his was chunky and yummy. Oh and best of all... The had 3 different kinds of vegan baklava!! ???? Walnut, pistachio & almond!! I will definitely be coming back here, the staff were nice too ????????

The Saturday special was disappointing. lamb was cooked nicely and was very soft but tasted bland. The yoghurt on top diluted the taste even further. It would be better if yogurt was served on the side or just on top of the rice and not the lamb. The rice was very fragrant and tasty. Tortilla was soft and tasty as well. Kanafeh. I hv certainly had better and worse than this. This was just okay. Quantity wise, portions were huge. Service was great as well.

Best food ever, chef Aboud catered our Holiday Event at work, with enough food to feed 50 people, chef About provided high quality taste of five starts hotels right to our tables at work. every single plate is more tastier than the other. his Turkey dinner was top notch and by all means the best we ever had. i know for sure that our company would plan the next event with you chef Aboud, and i know for sure where to go next time i do not feel like cooking. seriously his food is better than the one we make home, Thank you so much Chef and looking forward for many more meals to come.

I love this place for many reasons. The service is great, the food is unique in Halifax and very flavourful. Portions are sizable for the hungry among us. Prices are affordable. Parking is available. To get to a 5 star, one thing they must do is not overcook their beef (medium rare should be the default or it is too tough). Their chicken and other meats are perfect. Highly recommend.

I found this Halal place, though parking was confusing but once you know where to park, it becomes easier. Nice experience, try their 3 meat dish, chicken was scrumptious, juicy, and perfect. Chocolate cake was delicious, staff welcoming, I got the chance to meet the Chef, he was welcoming and helpful. Good place to go to.
