Tried boneheads on the weekend. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a mac and cheese side. The pulled pork was fine, nothing special, and a bit bland even with the sauce added. The mac and cheese was awful. Overall disappointing (and kind of pricey for what you get) bbq.

Excellent BBQ, and huge portions at a very reasonable price. The staff are very friendly and the service is quick for both dining in and taking out. It's also worth trying the variety of sauces they have on the tables as they all offer a nice change from each other.

We drove in from the valley after seeing this place on ," you got to eat here". Was not disappointed. We had brisket with sides. I had the beans and rice, she had mac and cheese and sweet potato chips. All food was very good, service was very quick. 40 dollars fed the two of us. Great value for the amount of food. Bring your stretchy pants.

My love and I stopped into Bonehead's BBQ for dinner today as it has been sitting, taunting me across the street from his apartment all week. Nice little place. Cute small-time family atmosphere. Max seating for the restaurant seems to be about 20. Prices are reasonable. I had the brisket, rib and sausage plate which came with a mountain of French fries (seem to be a staple here) and ordered Cole slaw and potatoe salad as a side. (Planning to take home for snacking later.) Cost was about $18CA/pp. The brisket was great, more moist than lean which is just the way I like it. Being from South Texas the sausage wasn't as hardy and spicy as I'm used to but still good and tasty in its own right. There were three sauces on the table; a hearty, a sweet and spicy and a mustard. I passed on the mustard but the other two were very tasty although I would consider neither to be spicy or hot. Again, that opinion is based on my South Texas taste buds. All in all a good little eatery that I won't hesitate to visit again when in Halifax.

Tried their ribs for the first time. Easy to see why they win the award for best ribs year after year. I love their pulled pork and brisket too. Side dishes are definitely delicious and I suggest saving room for banana pudding :)

We ordered in some BBQ as a big treat for four people during this time of isolation. We did an order ahead with a timing for 7. The order arrived: -On Time -Contactless (the driver stood outside the porch to give me a double thumbs up through my porch window, props) -Warm -Delicious Our BBQ was honestly A1 and Boneheads is fantastic. We were very happy to be able to support a local business during this time of great uncertainty. I would order from them again in a heartbeat and props to them for taking all precautions to keep their driver and the delivery recipients safe. Would give 6 stars if I could.

This place hands down the best barbecue on the east coast of Canada. If you want offentic southern style BBQ this is the place for you. The ribs are amazing. I can't get enough of the smoked sausage, the pulled pork or the cornbread. The beans and the Chile are amazing side dishes. Everything on their menu is so delicious that is almost impossible to choose what you want when you're there. We often try to get as many items as we can and we always end up taking lots of stuff home.

Hearing rave reviews about this spot and craving ribs, we decided to try Boneheads BBQ about a month ago. I really do not understand why Boneheads BBQ has a following because based on my experience here, there is not much good I can say about it. Firstly, I found the prices here to to outrageous. A regular ol' dinner for two, tip not included, was $70. I don't mind paying this much for a meal, but not this meal. It's basically food truck food. Even to say that is a bit generous, as I have tried much tastier food truck food. The ribs and coleslaw were both mediocre/satisfactory. The potato salad was drenched in mayonnaise. And the cornbread was worthy of the trash bin...really, I threw it out. The eat-in area was FREEZING cold. I ate my dinner in my toque, scarf and parka. We made a gentle comment but it was shrugged off by staff. It took a little while to receive our meals, but it wasn't too big of a deal. Service wasn't overly pleasant, but oh well. While this might not bother everyone, I personally found some of the marketing inside to be off-putting. Like, yes, I am aware that I am eating a pig - thank you for reminding me of that. A minor concern, but decor could definitely be updated. Tables were wobbly as heck. Overall, it was a less than satisfactory experience. I haven't been back, and would not revisit, nor would I recommend.

i have licked the bone clean at boneheads haha. this place is amazing . the price may look a little on the higher side but when you eat the food you will see pure quality. to me its cheap considering the taste presentation just all around everything. little things sometimes are a big thing like they have paper towel on a roll on your table word..... you don't have to chase some waitress for a napkin because you only got one little tiny tiny one. i think i might just head over now for some chili and pulled pork yuppp. rates a 10 on my scale

When you walk in, the place smells of great BBQ ribs and smoke. Unfortunately the great flavors are mostly hidden by the level of salt in the food. Love this place , the chicken is perfectly seasoned , tender and cooked perfectly , the ribs are deadly ,the brisket is amazing , pulled pork is delicious but don’t forget about the sides !!! CORNBREAD is HEAVEN ! The Mac is extremely unique and their sauces are too die for alongside that slaw that just cuts the fat ( drooling as I type this )

Full slab? Nah, let's call it full pass to heaven! The meat is delicious and the sides are the perfect matches. The rib was somehow dry but the taste covered it all. Also, it would be better if delivery guys were not permitted roam in the kitchen.

Got the two meat plate with white meat chicken & brisket. The coleslaw was ok, a very big portion, the fries pretty good, again lot's there, the chicken and brisket, sorry guys but they were both sooo dry. I think it's the Canadian way, kill it on the bbq & slather the sauce to it. I'd like it the way the Americans do it on those cookoff shows, all hot & sizzling with juices running all over the place, like the picture on your website! I want to see it on the front of my shirt. And please, get some glasses for water! Might be back, might not. Thanks

This is a very small,cozy spot. The ginger working the register was overly cool. No judgement,no awkwardness...just a straight up nice guy that knew the products he sold. I asked what he suggested to eat and got an honest answer. " Best ribs in town since they started making ribs" Food was ready quick and got good portions. I was very happy with my meal. Fries were good. Ribs were good. Briskett was moist and delicious. I had bbq beans as a side and i really really enjoyed them. I thought the pricing was really fair. Taking a trip to the washroom reveals a black wall and a basket full of chalk to write with. My kids got a kick out of that. Overall i give this place a great review. Stop in and order up some really good bbq.

Browsed Door Dash for a new place to order food, I saw pictures, and reviews, I thought it seem sumptuous and promising, I ordered pulled pork for my daughter (meal), mine is the 19.99 smoked meat that comes with 2 sides, and I ordered additional the sweet potato, they are getting two stars because the sweet potato and mac n' cheese are good, however the pulled pork besides that we have to throw as there is a hair on the pork, my daughter showed it to me, the hair is short, also the 19.99 smoked meat - 2 tiny strips, with a corn bread (corn bread that cost 1.79$ from atlantic superstore is way much better), in short I paid $69.00++ not including the 7+5$ tip for the delivery (which is not an issue) , is just not worth it, I highly recommend not to order the 19.99$ such a pity and really did not give my money's worth, the pulled pork is a turn-off we have nothing to say as we have to throw it, we did not bother to call as I just thought to review and never order from this restaurant ever again nor recommend ...such a disappointment

Highly rated but I found that, though the the flavor was good, the ribs and chicken were dry. It is hard to get to the target temp in a smoker without drying the ribs out but they either got there too quick, didn’t use a source of humidity or over shot. Tastes like they over shot quite a bit given how much the meat was retracted from the bone and shrunken down. The wings were inedible with no moisture. The brisket was solid which is the hardest technically to get done right. The chicken thigh was spot on in terms of flavor and texture. The corn bread, beans and Mac were phenomenally good

I ordered a full rack of ribs with a side of Mac and cheese and sweet potato chips. This meal also comes with cornbread included. Boneheads BBQ did exactly what it promised, juicy melt in your mouth ribs with a sweet tangy BBQ sauce. I would have given them five stars, but the sides didn't have the same attension that the meat received. The sweet potato chips where unique, but a sweet potato fry option would have been better. The cornbread was flavourless. The Mac and cheese was good with a slight macaroni salad flavour. Also the store had no cups or ice for serving water. All in all a good place to order well cooked and seasoned BBQ meat.

Not warm inside. No plates .. no glasses for water - that's just weird - won't allow water bottles from outside which just isn't ok. Lucked into a parking spot in front, 15 minute limit - otherwise not amazing. Tried sample of two meat & two sides. Cornbread has an odd flavor. Pulled pork ok, best of the lot .. brisket kinda dry. Mac & cheese starchy .. Meh, school cafeteria is much better. Corn salad too much onion and oil in a cold mixed salad congealed - so no. Overall .. meh. We've just had too much real BBQ in the real South to go for this. $26 will not repeat.

Wow! What a great little find! Came to Halifax for a vacation, and boom - hurricane ! The day after I went to grab groceries only to find most grocery stores weren't open ( which I get because of the power outage and the multiple refrigeration units they must be dealing with). But there, across the street, I saw the sign for BoneHeads - and it's open! Food was absolutely amazing! The BBQ smells from the street were enough to make anyone want to try it. It was soooo good. BBQ chicken and ribs were moist and tender, The BBQ sauce was fantastic, and add the 2 sides per dish, which were equally good, - it was more than I expected from such a small out of the way little place.

Chicken was fantastic, but the way they prepare and have the beans are amazing! I try and have BBQ everywhere I go and this rivals some of the NOLA BBQ!. The one area they could improve on is the corn bread, but the souths is hard to beat.

Hot dog was good but Mac n Cheese had absolutely no taste what so ever and when eating the pulled chicken sandwich I managed to feel a large bone in my mouth which turned me off from the whole meal all together. The corn bread, yet again, had no taste. Someone recommended Boneheads to me but I was super SUPER disappointed overall.

Their customer service was nice. I like how they had paper towel instead of the usual table napkin on every table. I like the sauces they placed on each table. Their portions are for hungry people and I was when I went there for the first time. However, I will skip their corn bread next time and will try their dessert instead.

Unapologetically meat-lovin' and that's ok. A very good attempt to bring the Southern rib-joint feel to Halifax. Ribs are always great, whether you add the provided sauces or not. Pulled pork is good too- messy and finger-lickin' good! It's on our regular rotation of places to eat when we're in Halifax.

I was so excited to try this place. Came for the brisket but it was so dry and overcooked. From other reviews I been reading a lot of dryness in their bbq. When a staff member asked me how I liked it and told him. All he said was sorry and didn’t even attempt to redeem or see what’s up. The only positive the yellow bbq sauce was good

Definitely the absolute best barbecue place in Halifax! I have had amazing BBQ in Alberta, Montana and the southern US and this is right up there! Their wings are huge and delicious (and be aware that each wing is about 3 to 4 times the size of a normal wing at a bar, so keep that in mind) and their homemade barbecue sauces are awesome. We also tried the platter and it was delicious. The ribs were excellent with a dry rub on them, and the brisket was tender and paired perfectly with the spicy BBQ sauce. The pulled pork and pulled chicken were not too dry, and mized well with their mustard sauce as well as the sweet BBQ sauce. Also be aware that their sides are excellent too and you can NOT miss the corn bread. I've been looking for a great BBQ place since I moved here from Alberta and I have finally found it. Definitely returning again soon!

Poutine was cold, mac n cheese tasted like processed cheese. Pulled pork was dry. Didn't taste fresh, like it had been sitting for a while. Also very pricey. Only reason we came in is because my husband and I (travelling from Ontario) saw a re-run of "you gotta eat here" and had to try it out. Wasn't a pleasing experience.

Definitely the best BBQ in Halifax. I'm from Memphis, TN, the BBQ capital of the world and it's the most authentic I've found anywhere near. Love the ribs, the pulled pork is reallygreally (would prefer dry meat with sauce on the side but OK) and even though I'm a pig guy the brisket is bomb. Also never found a place with tater tots outside the south and these are so good. Been meaning to try deserts but I'm always too full!

First time eating here and it was fantastic .... I got the 2 meat plate (beef brisket and Sausage) and my girlfriend got the pulled pork plate ...... we had mac and cheese, dirty rice, and sweet potato chips for sides as well as cornbread .... everything here was amazing including the Boneheads BBQ sauce and the peanut butter pie that we took out for dessert .... this was our first time visiting Halifax and this place did not dissapoint!!!!! We will make this a guaranteed stop for a super good meal whenever we are in Halifax.

Everyone always wants to find that little hole in the wall that makes great food. Make no mistake, Boneheads is that shop. Fantastic food for reasonable prices. I think it's "easy" to do well at the meat side of a BBQ joint but hard to nail the sides. Boneheads has great fries, sauces and great baked beans in addition to excellent meat. Brisket sandwich was excellent and while I'm not generally a huge rib fan i think i might be coming back to try theirs.

Took my daughter's there for dinner! It was a fun/funny thing to do together and we had a great time. The service was excellent and even though a purse was forgotten and only remembered hours later (mine sadly), they remembered us immediately when we called in about it. The BBQ sauces are on the table to sample which is just the best idea EVER and made me want to buy them all.... immediately....like right then and there. I had the poutine without the cheese (yes I know that's not poutine, yes I know that's fries with BBQ beef and BBQ sauce, but that's not on the menu ) and let me tell you...I have dreamt about that since. Dreamt about it. Give it a try.

If you like southern BBQ this is your place. Had this for lunch a few times, they are quick at getting your order out. Love the BBQ sauce included on the side as it doesn't soak your bun if you order a sandwich to go. The sides that i tried were great.

It's really hard to find a good BBQ place, but this is it. It's a little small, but it's cozy. The decor is interesting. Most importantly, the food is off the hook. Seriously. People complain about the cost, but it's worth every penny.

Just ate here food is alright if your hungry. But what causes me to write this review is that there is no table service. The three Asians next to me got table service. Everyone else's name was announced though the room like a trumpet introducing the King of England. I asked so what do you have to do, pay extra for table service? They laughed at me without muttering a word. All I got to say is that these guys need to treat everyone the same regardless of what they look like. If there is table service then there is table service for everyone. If there is no table service then there is no table service for anyone. Be clear in how you treat people and treat everyone the same.

We went back to Bonehead’s after a year or so, and ordered on DoorDash. From doordash we received free delivery and 20% off the total- but did need to pay a $7 delivery tip. All in we paid $55 for: - brisket sandwich and fries - pulled pork sandwich fries - Mac and cheese - potato salad - baked beans Sadly, we were not overly impressed with anything. The meats came sauceless with one tiny cup of BBQ sauce and one tiny cup of mustard. So the sandwiches were dry and flavourless. The pulled pork was better than the brisket- but we could have made better ourselves. We have been before and things were much better. If you decide to take the risk- make sure you ask for at least 1-2 BBQ sauces PER sandwich. And if you like it saucy, go 2 for sure. The Mac and cheese was terribly bland, the beans were passable and the potato salad was good. The salt shaker in the photo is for you to compare their “large” side size. Our favourite item was the fries- which is pretty disappointing for a bbq restaurant. Maybe this is COVID related, but sadly we won’t be going back again for a while.

Loved it! We tried the BBQ ribs and chicken. Both were wonderfully smoked and tender. The sides were yummy too! As you can choose 2 sides (and of course take a friend to try theirs) you end up with an incredible amount of food! Will definitely be coming back the next time I am in Halifax.

The food arrived through skip the dishes fairly quick. The brisket was a little dry and it had no sauce on it I'm custom to having sauce on my brisket. The pulled pork was amazing the cornbread was mediocre. Fries were all that and the mac and cheese was decent. Overall I don't know if I was exactly happy with the price for what I actually got.

We were so excited to try this for the first time tonight. The person that took our order was very nice and friendly. Sadly we were quickly disappointed though with the quality and quantity of the food for the amount to money we paid. We ordered food for 6 people and almost all of us got extremely sick we suspect from the chicken that seemed very pink on the inside. We also waited for our meal for close to an hour which was ordered within restaurant, it seemed quite a long time to wait and while we were there one of the workers was cursing in the kitchen, we didn’t appreciate it because we had a child with us. Wish our experience had gone very differently.

I used to enjoy eating ribs at Boneheads BBQ. However I noticed the taste and freshness of meal is different each time visit. I always order same menu and I was satisfied. But My last meal was obviously burnt piece of ribs I was served ( I usually don't mind eating strong or smoky flavor but it was burnt and it was no taste of meat at all....) and also sides potato salad wasn't good as well. I couldn't finish my meal . I usually go there at early afternoon. Last time I went to there was late afternoon ( 7pm ) So maybe different chef cooked the meal.
