We ordered a chicken pad Thai and a Hunan Beef with the additional $2 fried rice (L1), only to not actually get what we ordered. We received the pad Thai and rice however instead of getting the Hunan Beef we got Mongolian something. We even had the cashier repeat it back to us to be sure. It sucks that it's too far to go back to since we would waste more gas than its worth to have them fix this, not to mention time.

Tried this place, wish I hadn’t. First impressions are big in the restaurant industry hence appearance of staff/dining room important. Tables were ribboned off and chairs stacked in hallway in what’s a small location. When I asked why no dine a man answers ‘preference’ This is odd because every seat generates revenue. After ordering directed to sit on 2 broken chairs and food was ready quickly. 2 two combination meals came to $30, portion sizes was unimpressive. I seen my peppered beef consisted of onion and green pepper with very little meat and beef unseasoned, texture wasn’t right either. I opted out of eating hoping to get dish corrected, called twice during operating hours with no answer. Saved food and receipt, called in the morning and spoke to same gentleman from last night. I explained issues he dismissed my complaint with all food is pre-portioned and wasn’t gonna do anything about it. This man has ZERO customer service skills and shows little interest in the success of this location. I’ve learned in this industry your food is as good as your heart is in it. The lack of compassion you have for the guests that walk through your doors (that I may add is the reason you have a paycheque) and the lack of problem solving skills you possess to ensure repeat customers will reflect on your success or failure eventually.

Food: They have delicious spicy shanghai noodles with shrimp. Price: Price is a little on the expensive side but that is what you get for ordering delivery. Customer-Service: Excellent. I messed up an order while ordering online and had to cancel it. The manager was helpful all the way through to making sure I was getting my refund.

Our new favourite place for Chinese food in Cambridge. We are new to Cambridge and the other night I was in search of a restaurant for takeout as my wife and I had some family visiting. I took to google and trip advisor to find restaurants of different cuisines. We ended up deciding that Chinese food would be easiest (and tastiest). Aside from it's already decent reviews on Google, I dove into the absolutely hilarious replies that the owners of this establishment have left for some of their more irate, and in my opinion totally off base customers, on this page. My wife and I had a lovely time laughing at the sheer wit of these replies and the equally hilarious replies to those replies! Haha. I came to this establishment to meet the people that share our sense of humour, I ordered the meal for 5 with an extra order of honey garlic spare ribs and some shrimp pad Thai. I am not going to lie, eating this food brought back memories/feelings of the good times I've had enjoying similar cuisine in my past. We had four people. The price is reasonable, the quality exceptional, and I would say after stuffing ourselves my wife and I still have enough leftovers for an entire second meal. On pickup I had a quick chat with the girl behind the counter. I didn't dive into why I chose the location as I wanted to avoid disrupting her work if she was busy. The order was scheduled for a specific pick up time, and there it was piping hot and ready to go. Payment transaction was fast and before I knew it I was home with the fam and eating some yummy food. Not sure if the person behind the counter is the one who writes the review replies but even if she isn't I can tell that the people here are serious about the quality of their food but also good natured and probably people I would hang out with on the regular. I came for the sassy replies, I'm staying for the delicious Chinese food. Thank you Ginger Express. Please keep doing what you are doing. Nick

Terrible food, no clue how they have a 4+ star rating when other places that have 3-4 star have much better quality. The egg rolls here are a rip off basically hollow pockets of air with a tablespoon of cheap filling at most. The Mongolian beef we ordered was basically just an entire container full of onions with barely any beef! Even the steamed rice was awful how do you guys screw up steamed rice? Doesn't taste like they used good quality rice and it was also cooked wrong very watery and mushy.. Manchurian chicken was a big portion but was really soggy had a bad texture and the chicken was just mostly bread. The only thing we enjoyed was the shanghai noodles. Would not come back felt like I needed to write this review because the current reviews do not reflect the quality of food here.

No forks or knives supplied in the Delivery bag: On March 11th, 2019 I ordered $45 worth of food (after tax and tips), and when the driver (business owner) was gone, I found out they had put no forks or knives in the bag. When people order food by phone for DELIVERY, you should ask if they need utensils. It's just common sense and good customer service.

I don't write too many two star reviews. However, the portions were very small here. Ordered food for five people and thats normally enough for 10(exaggerating) at a china restaurant. They shorted us an egg roll(but charged us) and only gave us three fortune cookies. We were really looking forward to a care free dinner after a stressful day for our family. Ate all the food in 5 minutes then ordered Dominoes because we were still starving. Won't be back , all the best! EDIT to the response: I think you missed my point. we ordered for five people and your portions were so underwhelming we were inconveniently forced to order from another QSR restaurant (dominos). We were not ordering to have variety. Do better or you'll be out of business soon. ALL the best

Food was not even mall quality. I did not receive part of my order. Manager called me and said nothing they would do or they would lose money. I said how about part of the order I am missing. Again, they said they did not want to lose money. The General Tsao chicken you could not even bite into it was hard as a rock. I offered them to come and get their food and they declined. Said they could not give a refund to everybody who did not like their food. It was not a matter of not liking it, part of it was missing, part of it was inedible it was so hard.

They have the worst Chinese food ever. We wanted to try something different but never again. I ordered the dinner for 8 and a order of orange chicken. They forgot the general Tao and had to go back and get it. The service for missing food was disgusting. Gravy for the almond soo guy was like water and the egg rolls were like store bought ones. The portions for a dinner for 8 was very small. Called the store to complain and they hung up on me.

Love the location of this place and the team/owners are always friendly. The place is clean, and delivery times are reasonable, even at busy times. I usually just get the Singapore Mei Fun (sp?) here and an egg roll as its usually just for me but the family wanted this Sunday night. So, we ordered a dinner for 4, with some add-ons as well, just over $110. Kids ordered spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken (no sauce), chicken fried rice and french fries. Always a success with them, as long as things have no sauce. They devoured the chicken fried rice and also ate the plain white rice that came with the extra entrees my wife and I ordered. Happy kids equals happy parents! The Singapore noodles to me, weren't as good as usual, they were a little mushier than normal this time, but still delicious, just a small texture change from what I'm used to. Lots of items in here, good curry flavor, nice serving size. The extra entrees (a spicy chicken and a beef and broccoli type) that came with the Dinner for 4 were good, and we enjoyed them the next couple days as well. The egg rolls as well, usually a little 'fuller' than they were this time. Still enjoyable, just not the same as I'm used to. It would be great if they offered the hot Chinese mustard here to go with these. I'm glad I had some in the fridge from the place close to work in Guelph. Still, I like their filling, just not as much of it this time in each egg roll. I used to make these as a teenager at 'The Panda House' on old King St in Kitchener back in the mid 80's. Always fun making them by hand. The Won Ton Soup was good, my wife really enjoyed it. I always order Hot and Sour soup from other places, I've never had it here. Wasn't to my taste, but every place does it different. I like mine a little thicker and spicier, that's just me. The surprise of the night was the chop suey, (sp?) that came with the Dinner for 4. While I've always like these in the past, and used to be a go to, I haven't ordered this in over 10 years. It came with the meal, so hey, bonus. And it was a bonus. Great flavor, nice blend of sauce and ingredients, bean sprouts/mung beans still had a 'snap' to them. Great job. We will definitely be getting this in the future. So, overall, just a 3/5 for me this time. This doesn't mean I won't go here again, this is just the first time I've ordered for the whole family so wanted to give some extra details. I can walk here. I can stumble home here after a beer at St. Louis. I can grab stuff quickly from here on the way home. Nice people, nice local non franchise place. #supportlocal #seeyousoon

Ok here we go... Saturday December 29th at 6:25pm I call in to order take out for my wife and I. Girl on the phone is short and slightly rude but I write it off as her being busy with calls on a Saturday night. Order dinner for 3, so we can have leftovers for lunch. Dinner for 3 consists of: 3 spring rolls, chicken fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, sesame chicken, & broccoli chicken @ $35.49 + delivery, taxes, and tip . Order placed in 2 minutes flat. Fast forward to 7:24pm, our food arrives. Delivery guy is polite and courteous. My wife and I are excited to eat. Open the bag, get out the plates open all the containers, and fill up our plates. First bite of a spring roll, gross. The filling is total mush and tastes like the ones you can buy at Costco. Fried rice is also kinda mushy in texture and is really salty. Sesame chicken is Luke warm on a bed of undercooked broccoli and tastes like it has been sitting around all day. Broccoli chicken is bland (tastes like soy sauce on cooked chicken) and mainly broccoli. Sweet and sour chicken (aka chicken balls) was a mess. The fried breaded chicken pieces are hard and smell like fish, the sweet and sour sauce is the extremely runny and tastes like they have, wait for it, watered it down. The last thing my wife says before we both leave the table is that we could have gotten the same thing at the mall and been equally satisfied for less money. Disappointing. This meal was a total waste of our hard earned money. This was my first and last time eating anything from Ginger Express. Edit: I just checked out the negative reviews and read the manager comments. The management at this establishment are total jerks and should be trained on how to respond to customer complaints. Pathetic.

Ordered once, it was ok. We decided to give it another try based on some other good reviews. Ordered again and it was awful. General Tso and Orange Chicken were rock hard, I don't even think there was chicken? Just tastes like hard inedible batter. Sweet and sour pork was missing the sauce. Half of it was rock hard as well. The fried rice is good, but also pretty standard. It was better the first time we ordered. Rice portion is fairly small compared to other places too.

This is my preferred place for Chinese food in Cambridge. The food is not over salted, the fried rice is not over flavored or over salted, the ingredients are fresh, the sweet and sour chicken is battered and not breaded, the lemon chicken sauce is delicious, the portions are not outrageous, and the price point is perfect imo. The only item I am not super in love with is the fried dumplings from the appetizer section. They remind me more of a perogi as opposed to a typical dumpling. Overall I am super happy with Ginger Express and have been getting some takeout here over the last few years. The new online ordering is convenient as well.

I used to live just down the road but moved away and hadn't had ginger Express in a few years. Im back now and let me tell you...it has gone downhill. I've gotten it twice in the last few months and both times it wasnt very fresh even though I ordered at dinner time. The food now tastes like pure salt and has no flavour. The almond sew guy gravy is thin and watery, whereas it used to be thicker and creamy. Portions have also gone down in size. Most importantly the quality is not very great. Lead to a stomach ache. I will no longer be ordering from here.

Hours on the door say they open at 11 am. I've gone by two days in a row and found a locked door well past 11am. This, in tandem with their HORRENDOUS reply to the most recent review about the soy sauce, has cemented my decision to never give this place my business. Which is unfortunate for them, because I'm a THICCBOI who enjoys copious fried chicken tidbits. They've done a great job of proving they don't want my money, and I haven't even been in the place yet (despite my attempts!)

I have always enjoyed this little place, and would consider my family regulars. Last night I placed a order for pick up and asked for 6 pkgs of soya as they NEVER give enough. The lady whom im assuming was the owner told me " no 3 packs were enough as they have to pay for them" Well obviously you have to pay for them ...but I pay for my food I order from you. I offered to pay for 2 more pks..nope she would not give them to me. Well they6 just lost a good customer as I can't believe how she acted over that and her comment that she has to pay for them....well I was a paying customer. GINGER; Your reply speaks volumes louder then you will ever comprehend. If I wanted to visit a grocery store that evening I would have been more then happy to purchase soya sauce. 6 packs of soya sauce is not alot really. Lol...you make it sound like I asked for a bottle. I am almost 100 percent positive i am not the only PAYING customer that has requested more packs of soya sauce. I would have been charged more for 3 little packs of soya then I could pay for a bottle? Come on let's be real here. Anyways I have found a new place to go...food is great egg rolls aren't cheap frozen ones you purchase at no frills they are actually bean sproutf illed and good and crispy not soggy and guess what? They have their condiments out for you to help yourself ....and I don't even have to offer to pay for three lousy packs of soya sauce. Best wishes Ginger...

Ordered for the first time. $60 order. After working all day I get the delivery and the food was ice cold. I had to reheat the entire order. I did call to ask about why it was cold and I was told by the manager “ I’m insulted....I packed the order myself “ he was insulted? I spend $60 and HES insulted ? I reheated the food but truthfully , will never order again......I didn’t enjoy any of it.I love egg rolls and these were terrible. I never ever write bad reviews but........worse experience I’ve ever had. Manager did say he would like to do something for me.....I told him no worries.....if I like it....I will order again .....well guess what? Not happening.I tipped the driver a really good tip....glad I did....it wasn’t his fault.

Just moved to Cambridge and picked up take out for the move. We fed everyone that helped with the move and everyone complimented on how good the food was. Reasonably priced, quick service, friendly staff.....and we got extra spring rolls :)

If zero stars were an option it is what I would select. Tonight was the first and last time we will be ordering from here. Menu and meals are misleading. Husband ordered a combination plate of kung pao chicken and szechuan beef and received a container of stir fried vegetables and nuts... I ordered sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken, although it was correct it tasted like it was a week old and had been reheated in a microwave

I am from out of town , I came here for the first time Dec 30 2021 I found this place just searching for Chinese food Was I every impressed , I have had different Chinese food over the years I was just telling them this is probably one of the best Chinese food I had in a long time While I was sitting here pondering I realize it was the best Chinese food I ever had Even thought I live 90 mins away I do believe I will be coming back again in the next week or 2 To try their amazing food again

Every time we come in we are greeted with kindness and comfort and don't get me started on how good their food is. Their most popular dishes are Cantonese egg noodles and their signature chicken balls/sweet and sour chicken are fanomanol and there are many other dishes that amaze me. 10/10 quality.

Horrible food. All we got was vegetables with hardly any meat and we order 5 out of 6 items with meat. Do not recommend at all. When called back to complain the lady who answered was very rude and kept putting me on mute so I couldn't hear what she was saying. Will never eat there again.

Contrary to all the popular reviews, my experience was far from what I expected. Not only did their chicken taste stale, but the rice was severely undercooked and plain disgusting. Their sweet and sour chicken tasted extremely bland and was not up to par with other restaurants. I’m starting to believe that the other reviews are fake and bought.

My family and I have ordered from Ginger express so many times, and when we have guests, there's no other restaurant we'd rather order takeout from. The food is always fresh and ready to serve. We love the vegetarian options as well because there are so many more than other Chinese restaurants in this area. Each time is delicious and fresh, and the consistency in the quality keeps us coming back (it also helps that the staff remember us now and know our names and always greet us with a smile - what a great family!!). Thanks Ginger Express!! We'll keep coming back, always! Yum!

Sweet and sour chicken is my go to. They're little chicken pieces rather than chicken balls. Lunch special is $7.90 taxes in with a drink or spring roll which is great value. Really nice customer service.

This use to be my Go To place, but I was disappointed last night. Potions were skimpier from previous times ordered and the sweet and sour sauce container was just a tad pass half full. Although white rice is only $1 to add on with certain dishes, it use to be free. I think I’ll explore other restaurants now.

Fantastic food and wonderful service! This family run business in Cambridge is my new go to. The new owners really take pride on their food and dishes. You can taste that the sauces are made from scratch and not just from a bottle. The flavours they bring together on the wok is addicting! Highly recommend the combination plates and house made egg rolls. Delish!!

Terrible food terrible flavors or should i say no flavours... no sesame seeds on the sesame chicken and a cold bed of broccoli underneath hot chicken. The taste is really lacking... I won't order here again .. i ordered from skip the dishes and because the restaurant handles its own delivery there was no tracking or warning for when they got here... highly disappointed considering the reviews.. expected more because its a family restaurant
