The quesadillas are now half size but the price is the same, very disappointed. They used to come in a small pizza box, now they are all squished into a square box and are soggy and soft by the time you get home. I don't know why this was done but it has ruined one of the best dishes in Nanaimo.

It's about time nanaimo had a burrito joint worth talking about. By Gary the best burritos in town. Would highly recommend. Their pulled pork is seasoned very nicely and their vegetables are fresh. Service was quick and very friendly. Cost is decent compared to similar burrito joints like chipotle or mucho burrito. I will be coming back frequently.

Quit frickin around giving people small styrofoam cups when they ask for a cup of water with thier food... I get it, you'd rather have your customers buy a bottle of water or pop. Shaming people for trying to save money or not be wasteful is embarrassing. Styrofoam shouldnt exist anymore, let alone be used by a new modern restaurant in the downtown core. Have a 2 ???? day!!

This place is a diamond in the rough. It's kind of like a Mexican Subway. You order what size if you want in a bowl or a wrap what type of meat you want what type of beans you want. Then you get to ask cheese which vegetables which sauces and if you would like a meal (chips and drink). If you get the large bowl an add extra chicken, get some extra veggies added in, it becomes a meal for two.

Not a lot of people have tried their Nacho/California burrito but I cant make this up, its one of the best combinations you can get. Seriously. Their Queso is some of the best sh*t i've ever tasted and by far superior than any other burrito on their menu. I personally dont get cheese on it, because Queso is melted cheese. Some of the meats have weird flavours for me, but i found that Pulled Pork is absolutely delicious and is a go to for me. I recommend starting with Chicken and if you like that try Pulled Pork, some of the other exotic meats might be too much for you but give it a try if you want. Overall the resteraunt is amazing and now that it delivers through SkipTheDishes its a staple of my daily routine. Thank you so much for bringing the best, food, value and quality and efficiency. The best mexican in Nanaimo for sure!

This eatery specializing in Mexican cuisine is popular during lunch hours. Being our 1st. here we found that you line up cafeteria style & point to the ingredients to wrap up your burrito instead I chose the bowl on promotion according to posters stuck to the glass panelling. I was going to have rice, beef my choice with black beans, vege, guacamole ($1 extra) & hot sauce. My lunch mate decided to pick pulled pork instead. For drinks I wanted a mug of coffee but they only offered cold either can or bottle drinks. If you're counting calories our lunch was excellent grease less, not too salty just perfect. The only vege, rice & beans no meat bowl is I believe is another good choice for the eat healthy person. The bill total was only $21 for both. After our meal for coffee we cross over Starbucks to have a latte.

The staff are always really amazing. Super happy, helpful and nice. The first time I went I got a hard shell taco. It tasted delicious, my only problem is it got pretty cold by the time I sat down. The next time I got a chorizo burrito and it was hot and tasted great! Easy location to get to with lots of parking.

This place has easily jump into my favorites. To simplify the experience: its Subway (or your preferred sandwich made to order shop) with burritos. Effective model and perfect taste because you get what you want. Each unique burritos vary in many flavors and with the topping options I bet there are thousands of combinations easily. Price is about ten dollars for a regular burrito which isn't bad. What makes it better is these burritos have some heft to them. The regular sizes have the weight to shake a table if you drop it from a minor height. Feels like you're getting your moneys worth. The location itself can be slower than I would like but I find the times I've been there it has been quite busy. I reckon with a few more quality of life implementations and a experienced and eager staff this place can be more than a hit because it already is one.

Don't bother with the large burrito, it'll be the same size as the regular but more expensive. Update: the girls working the other day sure seemed to mind. I got half a scoop of rice a scoop of beans and 2 scoops of meat. When I mentioned it didn't look right they just said it was right and pushed it toward checkout.

This place has great food. I came here many times in the summer and loved the atmosphere and energy. The proportions were always great! NOW... I've come here twice in the last few weeks and I barely get close to the amount I've had in the past. The service has just turned me away as a customer. The people behind the counter had great attitudes and were always willing to give you what your paying for. Now the people behind the counter, are just foul and don't give you much at all. I'm not saying all of the people but the majority behind the counter now have no passion or care for what there doing or what there serving.

Probably the best burrito I've ever had in my life. Subway-style setup where you tell them which ingredients you want. Everything was fresh, tasted amazing, and had more options to choose from than Taco Del Mar. DELICIOUS sauce options. Enjoyed that veggie ground was an option. Amazing atmosphere and the ceiling decorations are a nice touch. The food is quite good and delicious would be nicet to add a touch more meat other than that its good. It a heartbreak for having no soda fountain but livable. The washroom were quite clean and kempt whic is great. The tables were quite stylish and comfortable. It can be quite a line up for just the amount foot trafgic present have that in mind. Other than that amaxing place to eat.

Friendly helpful staff. Menu has many choices from meat, size, format (bowl, burrtio or taco), toppings, and sauces. Rice is super flavourful as it comes through all the other toppings added. Shrimp and fish are crispy fried, but fish gets a bit soggy after adding all the toppings as per the norm, the shrimp jept it's crisp until the end though. Guac is extra for $1 - you only get a tablespoon or 2 for this extra, way less than other places so not the best value. Many Jarritos flavours to choose from.

The establishment was nice and clean and had a friendly vibe. I had a jerk chicken burrito and I loved it! The flavour was great but my only draw backs were, the black beans were too runny. The spoon need to have holes in it so the juice drains out. Nobody likes a soggy burrito. I ended up eating it with a fork but that didn't change the flavour. The food tasted pretty fresh too and that is never a bad thing. All in all it was a good experience and I will definitely return and reccomend to others. Keep it up!

Got the steak tacos. The meat was dry, overly salty and not very interesting. The tortillas were a little cold and stiff. The salsa verde was just unseasoned tomatillo mush. Kinda tasted like jam. Mediocre food. Having to pick my own toppings from a very limited and standard Mexican topping selection made it feel like an unnecessary step. What brought this up to 3 stars is the reasonable price. The place also sports a great decor and is clean with very courteous, friendly and attentive staff.

Staff are friendly and the food is enjoyable. The burritos stay together without falling apart as you eat and are very customizable. They have an online order pickup counter (can order pickup through the barBURRITO Canada app or delivery through doordash) as well as comfortable seating. The restaurant has nice decor and is done as an open concept except for the back kitchens that are out of sight. Staff clean the tables off after customers have vacated them swiftly and diligently.

Stopped in for a quick bite. Our first time at Bar Burrito and we loved it. It was like Subway but for burritos. Pick your own fillings and toppings or you can have it as a bowl instead of wrapped up. The burritos were huge and delicious. Nice change from the typical fast food. Will be back.

I tried this place out for the first time the other day - ordered through Skip. I had no idea what I was in for!! The portions are huge. (I’m not selecting regular next time ha ha.) The food was delicious and great value for your money. I don’t even care that I had maybe 1 tbsp of salsa in my salsa container.

I'm a big fan of Mexican food and I had been waiting for a place like this in Nanaimo. I can say that the food is superior to chipotle and that is a big win since Chipotle is a very popular and tasty place. Ingredients here are very fresh, tasty, it has many options, the location is very nice decorated and the best part, staff is very friendly. My only complain is that the service is a bit slow but I believe this will improve.

This is my second time at bar burrito and my experience was so far from good it's hard to beleive it's the same business as the first time. While waiting in line multiple orders were wrong and had to be fixed. When order I asked for steak as a protein in which I was told they were out as he scooped my pulled pork they brought out more steak that they were out of as if he didnt even ask the kitchen when he said he would.My burrito was so wet and soggy the employee then drained my buritto into the garbage can. After realizing that draining my food in to garbage didnt work he still did not offer to remake my buritto instead he re wrapped the soggy mess in another buritto which is now a soggy mess. Everyone was walking around aloof as if they did not understand what was going on or what their job was. After paying we had to wait as our order of fries was not put through to the kitchen. It took 3 people just to figure out what we ordered at the till and still we didnt get our churro in the bag. This visit has left a horible taste for this business and its customer service in my mouth. I will not be spending my money at this establishment again purely on the fact of service and seriously poor preparation of my food.

I ate at BarBurrito in Ontario earlier this month and thought "I wish Nanaimo had a place like this." I was even excited enough about it to explore franchising opportunities. Three weeks later I find their Nanaimo location is about to open. Excellent variety, great flavors, and definitely the best place to get a burrito in town.

This place used to be so much better. I went there today and there was no care as to how many wet ingredients were put in. They didn't drain the beans at all and in the end all the wet and cold ingredients made my burrito cold and fall apart too much to even hold. Whoever is teaching them how to make a burrito must have never actually eaten one...very disappointed ???? has potential if the ratios were adjusted. They also don't listen when you say a little bit of something.

Was super excited to try this place and was pleased to see they have an allergen chart available online, so I figured they would be accommodating for allergic people. Unfortunately not the case. I'm allergic to soy (which is a tricky hidden allergen and is often not listed properly on allergen charts) so I always ask for full ingredients. The owner cited the allergen chart so I mentioned that to her. She then read the ingredients of the tortilla shells to me (wouldn't hold the bag up for me to read myself) and refused to give me ingredients to anything else even when I asked. So I asked if the chicken is fresh or frozen (because sometimes frozen chicken is seasoned with soy) and she just said "it will be a problem for you, sorry" to end our conversation. Not helpful or accommodating in the slightest and made me feel like an idiot for even coming into her establishment. I will never support this business and my husband refuses to go there after this, even though it's some of his favourite food. Terribly dismissive towards allergies and I would not recommend this for anyone with allergies. There are restaurants in Nanaimo much more accommodating than barBURRITO.

Decided to see what the buzz is all about with this place. And ofcourse legend had it right. I had the burrito bowl and it was tasty. Perfect seasonings in the ground beef, and it wasnt dry. Veggies were fresh and guac was tasty. Ill definitely come back and try the rest of the menu items.

Great food & prices , fast service. Only real issue I have is that the employees aren't wearing hair nets or hats or aprons! Very strange considering there handling food as a chef I know this wouldn't fly in my establishments . Health inspectors are quick to penalize or issues warnings for this type of improper food handling & unsanitary food practices!

I had the bean, cheese and guacamole bowl with all the veg, chipotle and burrito sauces. It was absolutely delicious and very filling. The guacamole was the best I've ever had. My daughter had a large chicken burrito. It was enormous and so good she ate the entire thing. Service was efficient and polite. Prices very reasonable.

I'd heard good things about this place since they opened earlier this month. Finally tried them tonight. They were pretty busy but still cranking out orders at a good speed. I've seen all over that they're busy as Hell and selling out of stuff early, but all they were out of when I was there was I think ground beef? Lots of options aside from that, so that's not bad at all. I got a regular [that's the medium size there] California burrito. It comes with fries and a queso/nacho cheese-type sauce. I had mine with the shredded barbacoa beef, black beans, [iceberg, no death, lmao] lettuce, tomato, a buttload of corn, salsa, and the burrito sauce. That sauce is mayo, sour cream, and some spices. Good stuff. Also got two Jarrito bottles; one cola and one guava. Even if I hadn't gotten coupons with the purchase, I'd still go back soon. Tasty food!

I've really wanted a Mucho Burrito in Nanaimo since I had it when living in Edmonton. Seeing BarBurrito coming to town made me excited since it's very similar. Was disappointed when I went to try BarBurrito out only to find a message on door saying they had to close early to restock and replenish. Understandable for a newly open place working out the kinks during the opening week. I then went back again today earlier in the day to get a chance to try them and to use their BarBurrito VIP Club app I had loaded money onto only to find they are closed 2-5pm to restock and replenish. I decided to wait it out, the staff was very friendly, the food was pretty good. Still love mucho more but this place is runner up and convenient. Will return when they've had a chance to be open longer. I really like their BarBurrito VIP Club app so highly recommend getting the app ASAP to start earning points for rewards. I will definitely be back, just would like others not to be discouraged if they have had a similar experience so far.

Easiest way to describe a BarBurrito, is that it's the Subway of Burritos, except much more fresh and delicious. It's a solid go to place to eat with lots selections and even low carb and gluten free options. I'm glad they are a 20 minute drive away, any closer and is be there multiple times a week.

I like Mexican cuisine burritos, tacos cos they're tasty, filling & inexpensive. They have the menu on a tv screen hanging on the wall. There's the rice, beans lots of vege, cheese & the protiens of beef or chicken or pull pork. You can order from mild to really spicy with habanero peppers.. Mine is usually extra hot. Today I opted for the bowl burrito for a change & picked the beef filling. Portions was perfect for lunch. Btw rest rooms here are locked so to gain access you've to get the password # from the staff & be a customer. Inside rest rooms it's very clean, well maintained so the locked door concept I fully support. Decor & dining furniture looks good & standing style has got tall stools.

I’m a Mexican Food Fanatic and this was good food. Bought the large Spicy Chicken burrito with all the fixin’s. This thing was massive, a 5 pounder at least. Ate it all and every bite was great. Ask them not to stack the fixings though as each bite may not get you a taste of everything. No room left for a churro. This is almost a ‘challenge’ food worthy of a polaroid on the wall.

You can walk in, order at the counter, wait for your food, then pick it up & walk out, without a vax pass. But you can't order at the counter & go sit at a table to to eat it without a vax pass. As an establishment with no liquor licence, and food only ordered at the counter, they are NOT mandated to ask for a pass, but they still do. Will never set foot in there again, even for takeout.

Have to give this place 5 stars. Staff is ALWAYS very friendly and pleasant. Portions are very generous and everything is as fresh as can be. I used to eat at Mucho Burrito a lot. This is basically the same, with very slight differences. Good differences. Like their flavourful signature sauce and their excellent protein selections. A quick, easy and pleasant way to feed the entire family! They will not be hungry afterwards.

The food is tasteless, a great place if you don't enjoy salt, pepper or mexican spices. MMM canned veggies The chicken they used on my order was so dry and crunchy it was easily cooked 3 weeks prior and frozen. The guacamole. I got was essentially a whole halved avacodo that looked like someone sueezed it in their hand and put some lemon juice on it, really made eating the taco grrreat. The service is horrible, every time someone I know goes there the order is wrong and the manager is never working busy hours to get a refund. If looking for authentic and flavored mexican food in Nanaimo...there are way better places.

She is celiac and when she ordered the GF burrito they were super careful of being extra sanitary cleaning their hands, their pans, and were even extra cautious when using their press machine with parchment paper to prevent contamination. Went in alone last night, and was surprised not only by the sheer freshness of the food, clean, comfortable, bright environment and size of the burritos, but also the staff and customer service. They were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, calm, cool, and collected, and seemed not only able to handle the larger groups ahead of me, but seemed to thrive on it. First off, I tried to order online with my virtual visa and it wouldn’t go through. I walked to your store to stand there ungreeted for 9 minutes. I ordered bean, cheese and guacamole. No rice She said ‘you have to have rice’ and put it on anyway. I replied ‘both beans no rice’ she rolled her eyes at me and scraped half off, back into the rice bin. She then put on pickled jalapeños she I asked for fresh. Was visibly annoyed when I corrected her. She changed it the same way she did the rice and accompanied with an eye roll and an audible sigh. She then told me guacamole would be an additional charge. I requested extra crispy and with chips and salsa as well as a Chiro. My chips and bag were more greasy than a bucket of KFC and I got half a plastic ramekin of salsa. And to top all that off… My Chiro was burnt. This was hands down the most collective amounts of disgusting service and product I have ever experienced. I plan on telling everyone how terrible this experience has been for me. I sincerely hope you stand up to your currently fraudulent claims of good and healthy. I feel entirely used, manipulated and thoroughly disgusted. Do better!!!

Dude. What HAPPENED to this place? Up until a few weeks ago they were great. Now it's nothing but attitude and tiny portions (for the quesadilla and burrito bowl). My quesadilla had about 20 little grains of rice. Same with the beans. And it wasn't heated long enough, nor was there enough cheese to seal it, so when I picked it up, everything just fell out.... I got charged for a pop too when I ordered a water which is like 3 x the price. When I told them, they wouldn't give my money back just said pick another drink. I didn't want another drink. I was walking. Then they charged my mom for guacamole and a drink when she got neither. They were so rude when we very kindly told them about their mistakes on our receipts. I don't know if there is new management or just all new staff or something but WOW....SO unimpressed. Whatever y'all did, UN-DO IT.

The last visit I was there, there was an issue with food allergens and after explaining it to the manager Kathryn she took such good care of me to make sure I was happy. It usually pretty good. I find the consistency of the burrito varys, When you get the bean cheese guacamole burrito. Large, it either huge or its the size a regular should be. Then you see a burrito that has meat it's twice as big ... Edit: the last 3or 4 times I have been there have been much much better, the portion size is more consistent, also have been able add extra beans and veggies with no problems

First time trying this place today. I had a small chicken burrito with cheese, rice, veggies and *burrito sauce*. The employee said they make the sauce in store and it has Mayo, sour cream, chilli flakes and garlic. It's not spicy. If you enjoy garlic, you will love this sauce. I asked for extra sauce on my burrito and it was so delicious. Perfect amount of meat, cheese, veggies and sauce. Yum yum yum ???? Sadly there isn't one in Victoria where I live... But when ever I'm in Nanaimo, I'll be stopping by. ☺

I was on my way back to the mainland and was early for my Duke Point ferry reservation. Usually when I’m on the island, I drive down to Ladysmith for some cinnamon buns and a bite to eat. However, I didn’t realize that nearly everything there is closed on Mondays, so I opened Google Maps to see what was open near the ferry terminal. I wasn’t feeling like a burger or sandwich, so barBurrito stood out. The restaurant is very similar to a Chipotles or Taco del Mar. They offer big burritos, tacos, burrito bowls and quesadillas with a few side options and Jarritos sofa to cool things off. It’s clean with lots of seating, but it’s also designed to be quick to take it and go. As usual, you can choose your own veg and certain add-ons (ie. guacamole) cost extra. They also offer a range of sauces from mild to extra hot. I ordered the chicken burrito bowl and my wife got the pulled pork tacos. For about $11 the bowl could have got me through two lunches if I had any discipline. It was big and they didn’t skimp on the meat. The jalapeños were spicy and the burrito sauce was tasty. None of this was authentically Mexican, but it’s a tasty, filling and healthy-ish lunch or dinner option. The staff were friendly and efficient and the location is great. I’d you’re hopping on the Gabriola Island ferry or going to/from departure bay, this is a good option and alternative to a lot of the other fast food around. The price point is also cheaper than getting White Spot on the ferry and you’ll get more veg.

Very disappointed. I ordered the fish tacos and they were freezing cold and the batter was soggy. I assumed the fish would be cooked to order, but it was as if it had been deep fried that morning and sat in a fridge all day. My boyfriend was also really disappointed with his burrito. The staff here is amazing! Friendly and helpful and a joy to visit. Generous portions for your money and when you create your own bowl or burrito with their assortment of ingredients you have a great tasting meal. With the challenges of a pandemic and not being able to enjoy their seating, I recommend sending your order in with their specialized order form via email. We go here for work frequently and they have our order ready for a quick pick up. They are fast, thorough and wicked awesome!

After several terrible experiences with BarBurrito in Ottawa a couple of years ago, I had sworn never to give another dime to the franchise. I've been in Nanaimo for a couple of months now and have been craving this style of burrito but it wasn't until my gf told me it's night and day from the Ottawa locations that I decided to give it one more try. And I'm glad I did. Whereas my previous experience was a dry, rice filled, Burrito with hardly any meat and wilted, soggy veggies, this place is the exact opposite. The generous serving of pulled pork and fresh veggies topped with their delicious house jalapeno hot sauce was simply fantastic. I'll be a regular here for sure.

Great little place downtown Nanaimo. All fresh ingredients and tons of choices including fantastic hot sauces. Super busy which is a great sign. Really clean as well! Friendly and knowledgeable staff who were having a good time with the crowds! Also, had margaritas and coronas.

I love burrito joints like this and have tried many different ones as far as Minnesota USA. I cannot believe that the best one I've ever tried is right here in Nanaimo. I will be back an unhealthy number of times. It's probably good that I'm 30 mins away. Oh and not only was to food amazing, their customer service was top shelf. If there was a 6 stars options I'd use it.

I have been there at least 6 times since they have opened!! I'm addicted they have the best burrito bowls ever!! You get to build you're own burrito wrap or bowl...they have a great selection of fresh ingredients to choose from and resonbly priced!!
