Cups and glasses smell like eggs.
Very bad food. Did not enjoy anything in my meal (soup, salad, entree). The service was good. But the food quality is terribly low.
Perfect location, friendly and quick service and the food is good.
We were downtown to a show and decided to have lunch at Tiff .....there was good food choices on the menu, service was good and fast.
Manager was terrible, told us we were cut off of alcohol when we weren’t even drunk. After I asked the server why we got cut off he didn’t have a reason. They also followed my friends to the bathroom. I’m not sure why!
Nice patio, pretty good food, decent prices.
I'm still thinning about my beef short rib with parsnip purée. Wow. It was phenomenal!! The short rib was fantastic but the purée was next level. I actually wanted to lick my plate. My husband got the short rib Mac and cheese and that was also a winner. We shared poutine to start and that was nice, but not a standout like our entrées. I think I would try a different starter next time. I had the caramel pot de crème for dessert which was delicious with the salted caramel topping - it just needed more of the sauce. My husband had the 3 biscotti for dessert and he enjoyed them with his latte. We had incredibly attentive and personable service. I had been to Canteen a few years ago and it was okay... Nothing stood out but it was very middling. This night was a stand out. Glad we tried it again. Great before the theatre, but make a reservation.
Nothing bad to say here. Great food, staff & services.
Friendly service, good covid patio spacing in the evening. I think no one sat in the spot we were in previously so it was a bit dusty on the patio. But our waiter easily wiped it down without us asking. So kudos to him. Went for buck a shuck and it was just average. Drinks were standard as well, nothing spectacular but it wasn't watered down or anything so that's alright. It's not exactly known as a bar spot with crazy drinks anyways.
Ok but nothing special.
Great food on King Street!
although they responded at the end, we were ignored before giving order, so limited choices so we could go to theatre! Comped the dessert, but customers seated after we were were served before! Food good
Visited here for lunch before a theatre experience with our four children. Love the split and clearly labeled menu. Made it easy to order for our varied dietary restrictions. Staff was great with our kids. (I wish I remembered our servers name, she was great) we all enjoyed our food immensely. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more often. I am sure when we are again in the area this will be top of our list.
Excellent spot to have a drink on the outdoor patio. It's sheltered from the sun and the rain.
The brunch menu is excellent. Delicious, fresh food in the entertainment district. I suggest the calamari tacos.
Very good mac & cheese with some updated additions to a traditional comfort food. 5% cheaper would have received 5 stars from me today....but not outrageous given downtown location
It's expensive, but food is fresh and quality is great (sea bass = yum). Big plus they have a patio at a prime location.
Great service, very friendly, good food
Got to try the Summerlicious menu. It was very tasty and filling. Specially the Baba Ganoush and the Grilled Salmon.
Very nice staff who let me wait for my peers for over 30 minutes. I had the a peppermint tea and an eggplant pizza. Missing a star because the waitress rushed to deliver the bill to us and asked how we were going to pay when we had not asked for the bill yet. We were in the middle of our conversation.
Waited two hours to be served. They sat us down and brought the menu 10 minutes later. The food came 40 minutes after we ordered. My coworker and I were in a rush to return in the office after, so we asked for the desert and the bill to be brought at the same time. They brought the bill and forgot about the desert. When we asked for the server she ignored us, so we left. NOT worth my time. Never going there again!!!
It's a nice space and a great location. Sadly the food and drink are equivalent to box box chains. May o & b are a big box chain? Either way, I'll avoid it.
Cheap beer Cheap food Great place to go before or after a Jays Game
A neat place with some unique dishes. The menu split was great with many vegan and vegetarian dishes on 1 side. Unfortunately the portions of the dishes very quite small for the price you pay. Some of the dishes also very underwhelming in taste and flavour. The ambience was pretty cool and ten staff very friendly.
Lunch visit this week was OK. Service quite good but pretty mediocre food. Dry burgers and soggy chips. The edamame was nice and the short rib tasty. Overall experience not up to the cost.
excellent food and service. we had limited time before a show and the staff had us in and out in less than 20 mins, feed and totally satisfied
Great location really good food very convenient if your going to Tiff
Good food. Fast, nice service!
Food is pretty good but nothing crazy
Great spot for appetizers and a quick bite to eat. We had the Calamari Tacos, Albacore Tuna, and the Baby Kale Salad w/ Chicken during Nuit Blanche. Very delicious, well cooked and excellent service.
The food and service was excellent.
Went for brunch. Very disappointed in the quality of the food. Don't think I'll be going back.
Conveniently located in the entertainment district in the Bell Lightbox building, this eatery is exactly what you before going to see a show. Quickly and friendly service. The food was amazing. They have clearly labelled gluten free and vegan food on their menu. It was all delicious. In fact, our server was unhappy with the fact that the crust had fallen off my friend's dessert when they were cutting it into the pie pan and he went back and found it for her. Eat here.
Attended for Winterlicious and the food was fabulous as were the servers. Casual, modern and bright atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Wow! Burger was amazing! I havent had a burger that good...in a lonnnnnng time! And the dill mayo with the fries...I cant wait to go back
First time there and had their Winterlicious! The Kale and Brussel Caesar is something I would come back for. Not a fan of the crumble, it looked something put together at the end. Otherwise, great atmosphere with great vegetarian options. Service could have been a little bit more friendlier in my opinion
The avocado toast with fries and fried egg is very good!
Great food and drinks, conveniently located at the base of the TIFF Bell Lightbox
Amazing ???? service
Good food and service for late night dining
Decided to have a Sunday afternoon meal at O&B and it did not disappoint. Half priced bottle of wine and $1 oysters between 4-6 meant we left in good mood for less than we expected to pay. Service was pretty great and the patio walls are just high enough to not be interrupted by people walking along King St.
Expensive for the type of food offered... They screwed up the Irish coffee... It arrived cold and the cream had solidified to chunks. Looked like cottage cheese... Unsure if it was bad. Told the waiter, he said the cream was made fresh... I said I wasn't going to try anything that looked like curdled. He came back with Irish coffee using steamed milk. I said this isn't Irish coffee... He didn't understand what's the difference... I gave up.
Loved the place. Loved the food. Loved the service.our server was so attentive and knowledgeable. He gave amazing suggestions where to go and what to eat/drink in Toronto. Will be back for sure. Thank you guys
Good ambiance and service but small portions.
Amazing. Best oysters im had in a very long time.
Got seated right away and let the waitress know we were going to a show. They managed to take our orders and pay the check within an hour. And the food was incredible as well. Always a great place to stop.
Great staff. Great service. Needs a little more variety on their menu. Can be loud at peak times but great location.
Simplistic menu items at outrageous costs. So many better places to have brunch in the area so save yourself the trip and book something else
Absolutely incredible experience! Jacob was so incredibly accommodating, patient and professional with all of our dietary requirements/questions. Location was clean and felt very safe with the precautions put in place. And of course the food was GREAT - And reasonably priced as well, look forward to coming back soon!
Great food and nice casual atmosphere in a trendy area
Friendly, attentive server Cass was great. Gourmet menu was inspired and everything was delicious.
Delicious food, amazing customer service
Good place too eat especially if you're a vegetarian.
Great food selection lots of menu choices for vegan vegetarian and gluten free choices
Great service. Ok drinks. Decent menu.
Really a nice place to eat and chat. Something here for everyone. Good prices. Great food.
Very slow service. Small portions. Expensive.
A really nice evening. The staff and service was really well done and welcoming. There were plenty of options for both myself and my vegetarian friend which was great and we both enjoyed our choices. I would say it was somewhat expensive for the portion size but I would gather that was due to its location.
Nothing fancy just some good food in a great location on King Street. Since it is summer - it is mandatory that you eat outside. It is covered so no worries if it rains. Food service was attentive, food variety is good. Reasonably priced. Dessert was a little slow - nice - as it allowed us to take our time over coffee. It's the little special things that make a difference - they always seem to know.
Really good food ! Nice service and lots of gluten free and vegetarian options ! Cool!!
Great food great service
Bad hostees...and not so good food....
Great wine range + delicious food options. Ordered the fried calamari and the Buck-a-Shuck oysters. Perfectly pairs with the Leaning Post Rose.
Grab brunch there, like their benedit with smoked salmon. Fresh ingredients and nice presentation.
Relaxed vibe, always has a changing menu.
I order the burger there and was not very impressed by the beyond meet burger
They have an excellent variety of vegetarian and vegan options. I only had the mushroom soup, but it was filling enough for me.
Fabulous ambience, incredible, genuine service. The food was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place, at least from breakfast.
Social distance between tables maintained and all servers wore masks even on the patio, so thank you. Food portions were a bit smaller but delicious!
Excellent service and delicious menu
We came here for the Winterlicious $23 lunch. The food is well presented and delicious. At 11:55 they said that one of their Winterlicious desserts won't be ready until around 2:00pm. I said they should have it ready for an advertised lunch menu so they offered 2 other desserts. By 12:45 it became available so we went back to our original choice. The waitress was kind and cooperative.
Great food, okay prices, good location. Lots of parking nearby, close to theatres.
Perfect service on new years morning. First time here and I'll be back.
Healthy creative food in a modern spacious atmosphere. Great for lunches!
Summerlicious 2018. For price point it was good. Fresh ingredients and nice presentation. Gluten free options.
Everything was delicious, delivered fast. Definitely will be ordering from here again.
Cute restaurant but prices were very expensive. Friendly staff.
Absolutely everything was awful.. food was terrible, just terrible, coffee tasted watery, nothing tasted good, coffee cup was not clean, service is also terrible, i dont know how they have 4 stars because our experience was absolutely terrible
A wide variety of foods on the menu will please all your friends. Service is very friendly and outdoor patio is comfortable. Check for buck a shuck hours if you're going for oysters!
Staff were super nice . I got the entree tacos, very delicious but portion was small compared to other entrees. It only comes with two tacos and I was still pretty hungry after .
Great food. Nice ambiance. Decent prices.
Delicious Food! Great environment and conveniently located. Awesome for lunch
Lamb gnocchi for lunch was amazing, as was the salad and sandwich for our party. The service was great: I asked for a quicker meal due to a con call and they delivered for all of our party. Very kid friendly and attentive service. Spacious seating.
Great food had the avocado and toast. But the service is average.
Food was Good, the staff was really nice and informatfive.
Best hamburger I have ever eaten. Period!
Interesting menu and quality food. Always busy especially weekends. Brunch was nice.
Good location poor selection staff could be more professional
Always a reliable choice for amazing food from a creative menu and great service.
Amazing food, had steak frits and was best I ever had. Family loved all their food. Great coffee, just a little slow service
Food presentation is really nicr and it's tasty! Portions are a little small but still good!! Will come again! Great service too!
Great menu, delicious meal, nice service, good time... I recommend.
Steak and sandwich are good. Fabulous service.
Always a pleasant oasis in the craziness of King West for non-club goersblike me. Great food at a reasonable price.
Amazing place ..as a tourist we enjoyed it very much. good drinks, good food, nice people. friendly.
What an amazing surprise! This menu really caters to vegetarian/vegan and it's delicious. The jackfruit pulled pork was amazing and with the size of fries it was the perfect mouth feel. I asked for mustard, but would be great if they served with a bit of BBQ dipping sauce. I will go back to explore the rest of the menu.
I love all the O & B restaurants. I can always find something there for me.
Mediocre food, but incredible service and good ambiance
Worst food I ever ate. The benedictine sauce was a disaster , probably old or something, the salmon had a weird color and my boyfriend had long hair on his toast. ???????? . Never going back!!!
Food was good, nothing too spectacular. Service however was fantastic! Very friendly, accommodating, and quick service from the staff while sitting on the heated patio.
Great comfort food, sometimes could be hard to find a table. It is right at the Tiff building so it could be a great meet up point.
The Mexican street corn salad was good. A bit pricey but good food.
Good food okay prices Great service ..
A large group of us enjoyed an afternoon out into the city for lunch and a show. This restaurant was a bustling place but our server, Sebastian, was top notch. He made our experience there so enjoyable. Pleasant, quick, helpful and engaged. The food was delish; lots of options for different dietary needs. We will definitely go there again!
It's hard to see in this picture... But the fridges that contains all of the restaurant produce, is placed directly in front of the toliets. The distance is less that 1 metre away from the toliets. Therefore the food is exposed to all the bacteria. Keep note, anyone who passes the fridges, has accessibility to touch, sneeze or pass germs all over the food. The food sits openly in the fridges, which you have to walk by on the way to the toliets. ----- Despite your response to my post, this was a VILE experience after I ate my meal and saw where my food was located before consumption. I have eaten at many restaurants, NEVER have I ever seen fresh produce sitting in the area of the toilets. It is one thing for having a back fridge, for additional beverages that are contained, another for fresh produce.
Ate out for the first time post-stay-at-home for Father's Day 2021, and my wife booked O&B Canteen. The menu was unfortunately limited as the most popular items were sold out (buck-a-shuck oysters, fried chicken platter, mac and cheese) but we found several other items we wanted so it worked out. The food was tasty, the Prosecco was half-price, and the service was top notch as usual. The homemade ice cream sandwich ended our visit perfectly. We'll be back again.
Great service and menu!
Expensive and tiny portions. Riding off with the brand name, which not worth what you get, food was alright. Good service, but that's about it. There are a other more delicious and innovative place in Toronto that will rock your world, fill your tummy, make your heart sing and not hurt your wallet, like good fork, saving grace, Emma's country kitchen terroni, gusto 101, Portland variety, la cubana, beer Bistro, wish Cafe, and many other options.
Went on a Sunday afternoon so the place was relaxed with only a few tables full. Food was typical of a greasy spoon but that suited us. The service was a bit messy as there seemed to be no organisation amongst floor staff. We had about 5 different staff tend to us which meant the order was chaotic. I ordered tea which came with no teabag and no cup. The bill was incorrect and did not reflect the meal we had. Otherwise it was fine. Perhaps a more structured approach would make this run seamlessly.
Amazing place with professionals all around.
While a little bit pricey (10 for some appetizers and up) its still a good place with decent service and close to public transit.
Pricey for what you get. The lemon tart was small and stale. The patio does have heaters which help for cooler nights. Server was nice.
Services was amazing, I got the mango mojo with Mac & cheese tell me why when I got home I had threw up the whole meal .. in idk if the it was the sauce or drink but felt sooo sick
It wasn't bad, it wasn't noteworthy - it was fine. Service is good and quick but for the prices I would have expected more flavour and depth to the dishes. The duck salad was pretty bland but the rest of the food ok. Again, not noteworthy, but ok. Charged us $6 for two glasses of WaTeR?!? That was a first. I guess my bad for not reading the fine print somewhere.
I really enjoy O&B restaurants and Canteen is no exception! We went with a large party and service was quick and the staff was very friendly. I made a ridiculous request for a drink and the server went up to three Luma bar to see if it could be accommodated (unfortunately it could not...). We ordered a pizza and babaganouj to share. They were delicious but we immediately regretting our decision when we saw how good the burger looked! It is a lovely spot for a decently priced meal!
Every dining experience I've had at Canteen has been enjoyable. Staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant atmosphere is nice. I had the spaghettini which had shrimp, clams, tomatoes, and corn. The flavours all complimented each other and it was delicious. I shared a pitcher of sangria with my friends and it was the perfect blend of fruits, and alcohol. Everyone went home happy and full.
Nice place. Food not great.
The canteen is a nice modern design restaurant but with a lot of hard surfaces, so it can be a bit noisy. Food is good. Late night service can be slow. And twice now they have run out of desserts when we've gone in late, but at least they are open after the shows. Most other places pack up and turn patrons away after 9pm.
We ordered: SHORT RIB CURRY FISH CAKES PLATTER TO SHARE (Dessert) Food was good, but overpriced.
Busy spot for a Thursday around 6:00PM, we need somewhere to grab a quick bite and some refreshments before heading over to the Lion King musical. We were seated right away in the patio and their patio is a good size. we didn't really order an entree more so just appetizers and a salad. The apps were pretty good, the fries were large and crispy the calamari taco was interesting as I've never had it before. I also ordered a dirty martini but that was a little disappointing wasn't dirty at all. I will have to find more time to have a proper sit down and try their entrees.
Great food, but the portions are quite small for the cost. Servers are very friendly, but service was a bit slow, however we did have a large group so some delay is expected. Mimosas are delicious! My only suggestion is to be cautious of what you order in regards to size. We went for brunch and some patrons ordered the Calamari Tacos, which are listed in the same section as all the other "entree" style meals, but we're only two small tortillas with a couple rings of Calamari on them. Not exactly a meal. Definitely recommend it, just ask about portion sizes before you order!
Good food and friendly service with an interesting menu.
Went to winterlicious last year, we had an amazing lunch there and decided to try the summerlicious this year. The quality unexpectedly dropped and the service was extremely slow! They couldn’t managed somehow anymore. We waited the desert for 20mins and decided to take it out. When I got back with my takeout, found no forks in there. Its not a good place for 1hr lunch, only go there if you bave lots of time to wait lol.
Loved the selection of food, there is something for everyone. The drink choices were really good as well, listing a number of options for wines, beers and cocktails. I ended up getting the short rib mac and cheese, which was really well done. Added a little pepper to it but otherwise really happy with it. Not a cheap restaurant but for an app, two drinks and two mains it was about $70 after tax. You do get what you paid for though.
Good food and nice cocktails. Service by the hostess could have been significantly better but our waiter was ok.
Open, well-designed space in the heart of theatre district downtown Toronto. Perfect for dinner after a show or just a stop over for drinks. Friendly staff and good vibe.
The menu is not big...
I stopped by for brunch and was seated at a table where I had no room ( my long legs were hurting). The steak was ok but the eggs were great. The atmosphere was the star of the day!
Just tried their avocado toast! I went here twice, my first visit, i really liked it and second one, honestly because of server it was okay. She was so late and me and my friend wait a lot to get just water but over all its nice place to visit!
The smoothies at O&B Canteen are super colourful and packed with nutrients! I was deciding if I should go for the Green Zinger or electric berry! The green zinger is made with avocado, coconut milk, spinach, matcha, ginger lemonade, spirulina & mint. On the other hand, the Electric Berry which comprises of mixed berries, coconut milk, açai powder, orange juice, soyo yoghurt and chia seed! I highly recommend both if you’re looking to stay hydrated with a boost of energy. Cheers! @EATWITHJACQ
Good service but subpar food. Come to TIFF for movies not eats.
Note: Came for Winterlicious and therefore, a three course meal was a reasonable $28. Can't attest to avg. prices. All portions of my meal were quite tasty. Arancini was excellent and squash puree w/lemon was delightful and my bread pudding deliciously crispy on the outside and velvety on the inside with a very nice vanilla ice cream. Schnitzel main was good but nothing to write home about. Fairly plain meat and potatoes kind if thing. Staff is very attentive, quick to refill a water glass and fairly knowledgeable about food content for those with allergies or food restrictions. The atmosphere is warm but quite busy with smaller, somewhat tightly packed chairs/tables. I think the design is more of a fast dine before a show, so you won't be there long enough to really worry about it too much. I'm told Luma upstairs is more the traditional dining experience so go there if you want something slower and more formal. Overall, not dissapointed at all. That's quite good from a penny pincher who doesn't eat out much.
High end with prices to match.
One of the best burgers I've had in Toronto. The space is large and often loud and lively around the lunch hour. Service is great. The one thing I wish they could improve would be the ventilation; after stopping in for lunch, clothes end up smelling a bit 'diner-ish', which isn't the best if your heading directly into an afternoon meeting.
Great service and food, very attentive and cheerful
I was getting ready to trash this place (based on the menu and attitude) but it's good. Can you get a better pulled pork in Toronto for cheaper??? Maybe, but for King street it's an oasis of respectful cooking. Should have offered me the house made ketchup though...
I love this place. Great for a bite to eat before or after a TIFF film. Good variety for carnivores and vegetarians alike. We had the salmon poke bowl and steak salad and they were delish. Friendly service and reasonable prices.
Man, all the food was awesome. Even the fries were nice and crispy. Service was on point, food was fantastic and we just had pizza, burger, fries and drinks. Highly recommend. Best place we've been to since lockdown has eased up.
Great sweet potato tacos! seriously great. 3 stars for a Brunch visit: Service was good. but the breakfast was inconsistent and disappointing.
Great food, attentive staff. A Toronto gem for sure. You will not be disappointed. Maybe avoid happy hour to dodge the crowds.
Was a good winterlicious lunch, but limited items on the menu. Basically limit you to 2 options for the different course meal
Too expensive for the type of food.
Lovely chilled atmosphere and nice staff. Good brunch options and nice coffee. Oatmeal was delicious. Chia pudding was a nice healthy breakfast option but was quite sweet. Otherwise very nice!
I love O&B restaurants and Canteen is the one closest to me! We went with a large Winterlishes party so we booked the party and Canteen. The selection menu was a bit small for there was something for everyone (vegetarian, fish and non-veg). The service was a bit slow but we had a large party so I understand the slowness but the staff was very friendly. Thank you for serving a large crowd during lunch break with amazing service!
Great spot, but food is overpriced and comes in small portions (brunch).
The servers are great, the service is slow, the food is pretty good! We were seated right away and they were nice and accommodating, the server was super nice, but it took a while for our food to arrive. The food was pretty good. The mixed grains, the steel cut was fantastic, the avocado toast was just ok (it needs rock salt) they charged us to refill coffee...
Slowest service I've had in a long time. But the food was great. Get the octopus.
Completely ignored at the door. Had to request to be seated after standing there for over 5 minutes. I ordered the chef's omelette and the food was cold and tasteless
The food was really good, and at surprisingly reasonable prices, too. The only thing I could take issue with is that I eat a lot, and the servings were too small for me.
Good eclectic as well as standard choices. Chic setting. Good service.
Good food fast service
Great place to grab a bite before a show
Kept forgetting my order and brought the wrong drink. Staff unfamiliar with the dishes - if you asked them about dishes, they had no idea. Great view of the CN tower from the corner patio table.
Great spot for a quick sit down lunch when you are downtown. Servers are friendly. Prices are high but food is always good.
Great mix of food, awesome location and street views.
Good food, kind of pricy for what it is. I had a beet salad which was delecious but it was quite small. I would go back again, I just wish they had more vegetarian options. Service was meh I had an always empty water glass and there were only two table in the restaurant.
Good brunch option. Nothing spectacular to push it to 5 star but solid.
Uninspired, bland, not worth a visit.
Summerliscious! Great location, interior and atmosphere. However the food was just okay. I would say on par with most of the Summerliscious options out there. The fries were a standout. Service was slow and not tentative to our table at all.
I always enjoyed going to Oliver & Bonacini restaurants but after trying O&B Canteen, I must say this is my least fave. We tried the Burger and Salmon with Orzo and it was just 'meh'. You won't even be blown away by the food presentation you normally see in other O&B resto. For dessert, we ordered the Strawberry Cream Donut and Poached Peach Vanilla Ice Cream and it just tasted like an ordinary dessert that you can buy anywhere. Maybe will give this restaurant another try and order their normal menu just to give them another chance.
Food quality got so much better in last 2 years.
Service and food were great
Excellent food and service. Top 5 meals I ever had.
Good
Amazing super friendly cafe with an excellent menu
Good breakfast but slow service.
Good food. Good service. Good variety.
Decent food and cheap beer for ball games
Good service and good price. My wife and I enjoyed our meal. After watching a movie at the Tiff Bell Lightbox, it is an excellent place to enjoy a dinner and have a chit chat about movies.
Quick service, good food, ideal when you have a movie to catch at Bell Lightbox
Food was great, had an amazing time, a bit on the pricey end for the portion size but it was money well spent.
Awesome place to grab a casual bite to eat.
Decent Foods plain and simple
Should book to be seated glad we did Fantastic Brunch great service
Great service, food and location
Really nice place, fast service, clean , short but consistent menu. The personnel is always welcoming. It's hard to get something that's not on the menu, though, unlike other locations of O&B. I consider the place a fail safe alternative in an area with tons of offerings.
Unassuming canteen with delicious fare.
I think the entire experience was wonderful because our server was an absolute joker! I wish I got his name! Our food was great and everything was done well!
Nice, light-filled space and open kitchen makes for a homey atmosphere. I tried the gnocchi and enjoyed the seasonal flavors of rosemary and stewed beef. If you're in a hurry they also offer a grab and go selection of sandwiches and lunch fare.
I like the Menu here. There is always something interesting on it. Quality, quantity and the price are inline pretty well.
Went here after work to have dinner with a friend. The atmosphere mirrors the name - it felt very much like a canteen or a cafeteria. The service was very poor when we went because it m of the after-work rush, which i completely understand. We weren't in too much of a hurry and didn't mind. However, when our food came (we ordered the hell chicken) it was very bland, seemed undercooked and cold. I probably would not return here.
It was a wonderful visit! The service is top level, very helpful and friendly. Food tastes great and stuff has a solid knowledge of the menu. I enjoyed the atmosphere and restaurant design as well as a meal itself.
Decent food...nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing to recommend. If you are in the area and have no other choice hang out at O&B.
Very poor service! Messed up our reservation. Slooooooooow! You'd think we were invincible! Had to ask for the bill multiple times. Only brought it once we started getting up and standing around our table getting ready to leave. Wouldn't go there again!
Quick rinse through
Food was delicious. Service a little slow with not many patrons in the restaurant.
Have been here many times, and always love it. Whether it's for takeaway or dining in, always a great food and service experience. Servers are attentive, professional, personable, and friendly. The food couldn't have been eaten faster, or else I would have inhaled it. Brought my parents here once and they kept asking if they could finish off my brunch, and had a nice conversation with the server and manager.
Loved the atmosphere. Sat inside but still got a nice breeze because of the big open doors. Crab dip as an appetizer was spectacular. I'm from Maryland and was pleasantly surprised. Girlfriend had a turkey panini and I ordered a bacon cheesburger. Both were excellent. I would have given it a 4.5 if it was available. I docked a star because I thought it was just a tad bit pricey.
Food's ok, but there's better value & quality elsewhere. I don't know who mixed our cocktails but the flavour profile was totally off. Seats are very hard and unforgiving - take your own cushion unless you have plenty of natural padding!
Love the avocado toast, so good.
Salmon poke was great and so was the steak salad. Would recommend to someone for an after work bite. Great atmosphere on the patio in the summer. Reasonably priced for the location.
Good food...friendly service
As a member of TIFF I get a 15% discount, and that makes this place a bit more reasonably priced. There are some ok vegan options, but there is definitely more Canteen can do to become more vegan friendly. For example, charging an extra two dollars for a hamburger bun that doesn't have animal products in it is flatly ridiculous.
Great food and very attentive staff.
Nice place for Saturday brunch. $5 beers on game days.
Food was nice and the service was friendly
This place is terrible and the female manger is rude.
I am loving all the new menu fun at Canteen. The eye is on healthy but so delicious. In place is head Chef Matthew and wow he has really rocked the food and drinks. The patio is huge and so perfect for people watching. Come for brunch or Beer Thursday or maybe the perfect dinner where every diet can eat and have choices. Cocktails like the the Rose Royale are not to be missed. I am totally addicted to the vegan Pad Thai and these crazy bbq carrots. Please follow @joannasable on instagram for more food fun.
Great food and service, the Mexican Breakfast was fantastic.
Great spot for lunch. Fast and friendly. One of the best burgers in the city.
Not the same like before.... Unfortunately
Great place to either get food on the go, or sit down for longer periods of time (maybe while waiting for a film to start at TIFF next door). The food is decent, not fantastic (their soup sometimes needs a lot of pepper), but overall it's a nice experience.
Busy, and the service was fine. Great if you want a quick drink and a snack before a show!
Great food, service and atmosphere ❤️
Great place for a casual bite to eat. Small menu but everything I have had has been delicious.
Great service, even at lunch.
Amazing food and coffee! Lively, bright atmosphere in a great location
One of my favourite places in Toronto and definitely my fave on King W. Always fantastic service, I’ve been a few times for larger tables and it’s always perfect! Most recently we went for 50% off wine on Friday and $1 oysters. Oysters were perfect! We got the house bubbly wine and it was to die for. All of our other dishes were incredible too like the fresh mushroom soup, calamari, green bean caesar, and fish and chips! I do miss the pad thai on the menu though.
Good food good price service great sitting to small
Very friendly staff Tasty calamari tacos. Busy but efficient
Been here a few times and have always left satisfied. Great food and attentive staff :)
Good food. Good service. Great spot to go for a quick meal before the Toronto Symphony at Roy Thompson Hall
Had the avocado toast. It was quite good but I wouldn't pay $13 for two pieces of toast. Aside from the questionable pricing everything else was fine.
Slow service. The staff is friendly. The food is reasonably priced for the neibourghood. The changing menu is pretty cool.
Went here for lunch on a Sunday before a show, the restaurant is a 2 min walk from The Princess of Whales theater .The atmosphere was chill but was a little disappointed that they have Brunch Menu on Sundays.Food was very pretty looking and tasty but it did take a long time to come
Nice first time experience. Service was great and good menu options. We had an assortment of items because we wanted to share everything. Everything was good.
Good place for vegetarians. I had the tahini fries and it was sooo good! Great atmosphere and service too.
Order the sweet potato hummus. Now.
Decent food. Good service. Nice casual atmosphere.
Amazing food with so many gluten free options!! One of my favourite spots in the city !
Excellent meal, friendly and attentive service, wide-ranging menu with many scrumptious offerings. Vegetarian? Covered. GF? They got ya. Omnivore? You are in for a treat. Calamari tacos were devoured with gusto. Beet burger was proclaimed delicious (but where was Dwight?). Next time (and there will be a next time), I want to have desert too!
Good as per usual. The grains bowl was very tasty, server was very friendly and on top of things.
Their food is usually tasty, although the mains that we ordered were appetizer-sized. Good wine and beer selection. The location is great and it is conveniently located near the TIFF lightbox.
Good turkey melt
Very friendly and on-point waiter (Eric) who was wonderful and fun to have as a server. Great venue along King Street with plenty of space and big windows to people watch. The food was ok, not very inspiring to be honest but still good.
they didnt have salmon on the menu with winterlicious starting, however they delivered a great salmon dinner for me. kudos
Food was decent. Atmosphere was pleasant. Waitress was a sweetheart.
Good brunch place.
We came on thanksgiving eve. We had no reservations but were seated right away. Our server was great and took some time to explain menu options. The food came at a reasonable time. It was not fast but I really wouldn't like it if it was fast. Everything tasted very good and best of all they have lots of gluten free options.
Tried the shawarma bowl and it tasted pretty well. Although the serving size was a bit too small. My friend had the shakshuka and that was delicious too.
The service was splendid! On top of that they have the best calamari tacos I’ve tried! Highly recommend the tacos, sweet potato tacos were good as well
Food was pretty good but quite pricey. Got the canteen breakfast and it was all very well prepared. The drinks on the other hand were pretty subpar. My friend got the watermelon mojito which we both tried and agreed was gross. It had a very artificial watermelon taste that didnt sit well with the tartness of the mojito. I had the vegan sour and it was just okay. Nothing really special about it.
Delicious food and drinks! Great staff! Lovely spot for breakfast/brunch. So happy we came across it on our travels
Looking for a buck a shuck place? I suggest you keep looking elsewhere - it’s quite misleading here. With a purchase of 1 drink, you only get 12 oysters at the buck a shuck price. This isn’t something they openly advertise unfortunately. The oysters were quite fresh although a bit too briny and fishy at times for me. Drinks were also decent. When factoring in the cost, I suggest you look elsewhere for a more transparent buck a shuck experience.
Food should have a wow factor in that area. It was good, but maybe I have expected more. I still recomend.
Great atmosphere and food
An interesting menu with lots of healthy choices.
Always a consistent level of interestingly varied menu and excellent quality. Today was a short visit for Calamari Tacos (amazing and unique) and a glass of good quality dry red wine (Malbec).
Yummy meal, friendly service
Great food and casual atmosphere. Close to everything. Calamari tacos a must try!
Service is great. The staff are so sweet even when they’re busy. I think they can work on the portions a little bit more. Otherwise another solid O&B restaurant.
I came and got take out, but in the couple of minutes I was there waiting for my food, everyone on the staff was so nice to me. BBQ pulled jackfruit sandwich I was so excited to try this! I had previous bad experiences with pulled jackfruit but the pictures of this sandwich made it look so good I had to do a retake. And low and behold the pulled jackfruit was AMAZING. It felt soft and had the juices pouring out of it. It worked amazing with the tofu mayo (yes thats a thing), apple and red cabbage. The only thing I would say, there was a strong sour taste to it, I think it came with the Mayo that I didn't like. It kept tightening my face. The fries that the sandwich came with too was way too salty and soft for my liking.
Buck a shuck is worth it and very clean. Well organized for COVID era. Also try the calamari tacos. Definitely will visit again!
Decent food, good price.
Limited menu but good food... Excellent service... Didn't like the beet burger
Great burger for lunch! Option of sweet potato fries is a healthy choice!
Really enjoyed my meal here. The fries were delicious. What made this experience 5 stars however were the staff. My server was very attentive and helpful. My guest and I were very delayed and had a film to catch at TIFF. He worked with the kitchen to ensure our meals arrived quickly and the bills settled as well. I’ll definitely recommend for a pre-Tiff option!
Great main course salads. Wait staff outstanding...helped us with dinner suggestions...can't say enough good things for casual eating establishment.
Average place food wise, good presentation. First time here for Summerlicious. I dont think this place is worth it for Summerlicious menu. Food is just average. A one time place dont think I will be going back
Nice experience, food is decent.
One of the most over-priced meals I’ve had in my life. I feel like I’ve just been robbed
Good service and prompt food but there are much much better places to eat for the same overall cost.
Perfect place to enjoy lunch, right on King Street, and walking distance to Royal Alex theatre. Good food selection/service and comparable pricing. Highly recommend.
Good food in a convenient location. You pay a premium for the location and ambiance, but the quality and service is pretty reliable.
Great little spot! Popped in for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed the bright atmosphere and the delicious food. Slightly in love with the chia pudding.
One of the lower end place of the Q&B group. Menu is mostly fresh Canadian food with no surprises. Quality is OK and variety is a bit lacking. Don't expect top notch service given the prices and the relaxed casual setting.
The place has a relaxed cafeteria feeling.
Price has been getting higher and higher.
I feel like the best way to describe this place is to say it was fine. It wasn't bad. It wasn't great. But it was fine. The restaurant was nice with a great atmosphere but I was expecting a bit more from the food. It's not a cheap place (not to say things were overpriced) and it felt like the meal didn't really make a lasting impression.
Stop by here quite often in the mornings. They make great smoothies. The staff is also extremely friendly and courteous and the lines move very quickly.
Always a good to place for dinner before theatre. Never had a bad meal. Service is casual, attentive but never intrusive.
Great food but prices are on the high end
Service is quaint. Food is unexciting
My husband, 2 friends and I arrived at 6:30 for a pre-dinner meal. We ordered wine and 2 appetizers at 6:45, and they arrived within 10 minutes. We enjoyed the flavourful, crunchy roasted Brussels sprouts, and the delicious calamari tacos, and then we waited another 30 minutes for the rest of our food to arrive!! Our waitress apologized for the long delay, although she could not provide any reason for it, which was somewhat odd and a little bit aggravating. Finally, the food arrived; we had the fresh beet salad with over-cooked, grilled salmon, the well-seasoned salmon poke, the flavourful and savoury braised ribs alongside the the rich and creamy mac and cheese. The 4 of us shared one plate of each item. Unfortunately we were not able to really enjoy our meals because we only had 15 minutes to eat before it was time to depart for the theatre. Clearly this restaurant needs the assistance of a kitchen manager to ensure that their food service is executed in a more timely fashion. This is our second time at Cantine and we had a similar experience on our first visit there. My advice to potential patrons is to allow yourself 2 hours for a 2-course meal at this restaurant. Seriously!
Great food, and very busy location. We had a reservation for approximately 15 people, and were seated immediately upon arrival. The menu was extensive, and there were several vegetarian options as well.
Th Canteen offers excellent quality in many ways. The menu is outstanding in offering both "Eating to Live" and "Living to Eat" options. We tried the Waldorf salad - we have never tasted better! We also tried the Jerk Chicken. It is on the mild side with regards to spicing. I am sure you can request a spicier blend if you desire one. The patio is lovely, but a bit noisy at lunchtime. The service is excellent!
Great place to grab a quick drink and sandwich before the Jays game.
Great location to the Royal Alexandra theatre. Food was tasty but extremely small and pricey.
Visited for Winterlicious and the food and cocktails were great, lovely restaurant & great service and great location too
Awesome dinner experience! We came across this restaurant with a large group the night before our wedding last month while staying at the Hyatt. Jerid our waiter was excellent in accommodating our group. Great relaxed vibe for dinner and drinks for this size of our group. What really made it special was Jerid coming out at the end of our dinner with 3 large speciality dessert platters to congratulate us! Thanks Jerid! Made for a great night before our big day!
Excellent! Very good service, good food, very reasonable prices. While I would consider this the "budget" vehicle of the Oliver and Bonnacini chain, it nevertheless delivers its meals and service with the high quality associated with the O&B name.
Absolutely amazing place food was awsome, the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere and their burgers where wicked awsome. Plus they also have a non meat menu aswell
No table service when we went Monday am. Cold eggs.
Decent eats, and fairly priced considering the location. The prime rib is tasty and daily drink specials are nice draw.
Manager and staff completely rude
Nice place)
Staff was friendly and helpful food was amazing
I love to have brunch here.
I went back in June The servers are very friendly and food is delicious. It's great that they have a covered patio too. I got their hard lemonade and thier spicy salmon sushi bowl.
The tourtière was horrible. Too much spice (I think nutmeg) and meat was chewy. Ate 1/4 and threw the rest in the garbage. On the other hand, butter chicken was amazing.
I was a bit disappointed with the amount of lemon on the avocado toast. Wayyy too sour. My friend got breakfast for dinner and enjoyed it. I got calamari tacos- 4/5. A good place for before theatre.
Just came for the buck a shuck but it's from 2pm until close... which is unheard of!!!
Amazingly friendly service, great menu options, food was delicious ❤
Good food and great service
So shocked that the O&B brand could serve food this horrible. My calamari tacos were unedible.
Amazingggggg! Love this place. Always get the eggs on toast when in the area for breakfast. Check this place out!! Quick and great tasting!
Great food and service
mixed experiences, I’ve been here twice and the first time was great, I went with a friend and we shared the empeñada appetizer, and each got a big plate of piping hot Mac and cheese which was lovely And unique with the kale, asparagus and smoked bacon, however the other day I came with my boyfriend and it was a complete disappointment the portions were so small, the rice in our cod curry was so overcooked the crunchy bits (pretty much all of the rice) were getting stuck in our teeth, and the pasta dish was barely room temperature and lacked any flavour. That being said the service was absolutely lovely on both occasion.
Honestly, the food was not great. Maybe it was b/c we got the summerlicious menu?
Absolutely fantastic! Didn't disappoint
Great brunch options! Service was a little slow due to brunch being their peak time. Food was good, and great for vegetarians! Location is quite good!
Friendly service but slow. Salads pretty solid. Good pricing. The beyond meat burger was a bit hard to eat though
Overpriced, low key food with some questionable spice spins. We had their burger, and their turkey panini. The burger came with a tomato soup which was way to sour. I'm wondering if anyone on the kitchen tries their own food. Burger was OK but standard. Their pickle mayonnaise had something fresh but nothing too exciting to make up for the boring rest. The panini with the guacamole was very good though. Overall an average experience not worth coming back
Excessive salt in my salad! had skipped lunch, a friend was paying and we had theater tickets, so sending a meal back was not an option. My only order was for delicious sounding Kale salad. It was excessively salty! Is this really necessary? (No!, unless the chef suspects bacteria that needs cleansing, or is employing a cheap trick to spark the taste buds on the first bite). There are so many other restaurants in the area, I think I will try some of them next. Very disappointing - I had looked forward to my (first) visit to Canteen.
Worst fried chicken I've ever tasted. Server forgot our drinks. Took 30 minutes to realize I didnt want my food because he didnt check on us. Truly a horrid experience.
It's a bit of hit and miss with food and service in this location. Sometimes both are amazing and sometimes both fall short. It's advisable that you expect longer than average wait time for your food, especially if you're eating before theater.
Thanks for the excellent dining experience, the service and favors were fantastic.
Staff very friendly, Margherita Pizza dry and tasteless...ate one piece of 4. Surprised O&B would allow this to be served.
Came on Wednesday evening with some friends and at outside in the patio. At the time Toronto was still not allowing dining inside as it was still during stage 2. Outside wasn't too crowded and we were spaced very well from other tables that allowed for physical distancing measures. Wearing a mask was required if you needed to go to the washroom. Floor markers lead you directly to the restrooms and also lead you back outside. We ordered a few drinks and took advantage of their buck-a-shuck promotion which starts at 2pm when you purchase a wine, beer or cocktail. I had a great time catching up with friends while sharing a couple menu items. My highlight of the night was the $1 oysters, which was a great deal if you come between Wednesday to Sunday.
Service was good food was average.
Stopped in for a quick lunch whilst working in the area. Had not been there before. I was very disappointed. The food was tasteless; cream soup was super thick and pasty and burger was just a previously frozen patty. Service was not great as server was given specific instructions regarding what should go on burger and it was ignored. "Greeter" busy on her cell phone whilst we stood practically right in front of her waiting to be seated and totally disregarded. Food was fairly expensive for what we had. Not worth going back again. Very disappointing
I ordered the jerk chicken, sweet potato hummus, and fries and it was tasty! The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was comfortable.
Very low level of actually coffee in cappuccino cup
The worst ever Service was great! ...BUT ..Coffee was weak. Bacon burnt to a crisp.Sausage smelled funny.Toast was cold and not buttered.Eggs were supposed to be over medium Hard and burnt....never coming again. The person who seated us put us so close to another couple we may as well been best friends, although the restaurant was almost empty. Also majorly over priced....WOW!!!! I would like to hear from the owner Please give me an email address.
Attentive servers. Good food. Nice tranquil place.
I never seem to like this place are much as I want to. Nothing particular is wrong with it, but the food options seem designed to be impressive more than designed to be tasty. Of course the prices will be high, given that it's O&B, but they always seem too high for what I get. The grease in the air can also be overwhelming.
Very nice restaurant and. We were there for TIFF and was very busy but the service was impeccable . My only complain is that the place was very laud.
Ridiculously overpriced and pretentious. My steak salad was way overdone. The waiter stopped by to ask how the food was but disappeared before I could respond. Not recommended.
Rather limited menu. OK but nothing to write home about.
Pretty nice, good selection of healthy and tasty.
